Picture You: Bakugou Katsuki late late in the narrative about Midoriya Izuku. Because like come on now. Come on now. Kaleidoscope: Midoriya Inko. I love her. She deserves better. And the absence of her man, the way she loves Izuku unconditionally no matter what on any terms he wants. Yes Kaleidoscope is a romantic song to an extent but the parental version of it or even just the abstraction of love in general. It's beautiful and unconditional and not always perfect but it's always there and that's what matters. Anyway. I ugly cry to this song. My best friend played it for me on a uke and sang it the other day and I was an ugly wreck. And I am a wreck for Inko because she's such a good and honest person and genuinely does her best for her son. Wow. I'm sniffly.

Pink Pony Club: This is obviously Izuku Midoriya. About quirks ofc, but like the kind of joyous wide eyed earnestness of it all. It's so him. It's so fucking Deku it is perfect. Keep on dancing baby. Have your fun. The joy of it all, the self acceptance, the finding a place of belonging. It's HIM. A year to cause a scene? YES BABY.

Naked In Manhattan: Momo Yaoyorozu. I struggled for this one babes! I did! HOWEVER I do think my sheltered girlie deserves a song about self discovery and fun and GIRLS. I am always on this shit. I will do this for my girlies. They're all lesbians u can't take this from me. The other fun option is David Shield with All Might in their #collegehomosexualrevelries aka when All Might was in the states. I love them. They're a great fling.

California: Shigaraki Tomura. Or Yoichi. Or really any of the OFA holders about their predecessors. Just that hope to get their dreams only to have themselves fail to reach them and it hurts even if it's through no fault of their own. Man. I want them to be happy dawg. But mostly Shigaraki because. 1. We have a handful of songs we vibe with, and some that I personally relate to. Personally, I vibe with Son and Mercury by Sleeping at Last for my own journey of being the front anchor and figuring out I'm plural. Son for me is the more positive one, with the imagery of being touched and shaped by the people around you. During syscovery I had a lot of experiences of looking back and realizing how much my headmates have always been part of my life, even when I didn't know about them. Especially with Dave (my fiance!!!), he and I have sort of always known each other and been close, even before we realized we weren't the same person

Mercury for me kind of illustrates how I and the other Mercurys felt after realizing the whole front anchor thing. I've always had a hard time figuring out my identity and what I want to do with my life, and I feel like Mercury really shows that feeling of being lost and swept along by other people. Also the name fits lmao

Six Feet by Left at London also really hits home for me bc of some system conflict stuff I don't wanna get into here. And obvs My Friends Are Kinda Strange is an iconic plural anthem

Cat and I also read Take Me With You by Andrea Gibson together, which is a book of poetry. She really vibed with it bc of her gender/sexuality, and how that intertwines with her plurality and past. One poem I'm gonna quote below really hit home for her as a fictive

For me personally, I really vibe with Tokoyami and Dark Shadow from BNHA. This is also bc of alterhuman stuff, which for me is linked with plurality. Also in the same vein I really vibe with Hal Strider from Homestuck. It's that sort of "I'm not human, but I'm a person" thing, plus the "who's the real one" struggle

Night in the Woods isn't exactly a plural vibe to me, but we vibe with it bc of dissociation and bc coming back home after dropping out of college and having to readjust was sort of the catalyst for our syscovery. Also, watching the Alexandrites stream it was sort of our first real interaction in the plural community, and the catalyst for us getting more connected to the community

Oh hey wait it's Thursday! Hello everyone! 1. What are some non-narrative or only-mildly-narrative pieces of artwork* that you relate to in a "system stuff" way? * (e.g., music, poem, paintings, sculptures, abstract performance art, epic prank, craft, video game without much plot, etc., but not books/movies/graphic novels/epic poetry/plot-heavy video game) 2. Same question, but for narrative works! Note that it absolutely does not have to be an example of 'objectively plausible system rep', and can be just be something that resonates with you.

This isn't technically one single piece of artwork (though we have a few specific examples in mind), but you know those covers of songs where a solo vocal line gets turned into a duet? And suddenly there's a a whole new layer of depth and meaning because the lyrics are now a conversation, even though it still "looks the same from the outside"? Yeah. That. 2. There are so many answers we could give for this (Pacific Rim, also basically anything with telepathically bonded companions who have to figure out how to work together and trust each other, for one--a theme which I was Weirdly Extremely Drawn To as a kid...), but I'll go with a novel we read relatively recently (I think it was one of the first novels that the two of us kind of read together, actually?), Vespertine by Margaret Rodgerson, which is about a lot of things but definitely about a girl and a demon trying to heal from trauma together while living in the same head.

It's the ShigaDabi national anthem from where I'm standing. I mean...

Literally everything in the lyrics just sound like Dabi talking to/about his relationship with Shigaraki.

In canon, Dabi is so much more than Shigaraki's right hand man. He's a gatekeeper between potential recruits and Shigaraki and he's killed far more of said recruits than Shigaraki has been shown to. He seems to put so much effort into the League...Shigaraki's League. Honestly Dabi is somehow the most apathetic member of the league and the most passionate at the same time and its weird. Somehow I get the feeling Dabi really wouldn't handle losing Shigaraki very well. Well, none of the League would, but something tells me whatever keeps Dabi in his relatively mentally stable state of being (when compared to the likes of Toga and Twice at least) would probably snap and he'd become a literal monster if anything happened to Shigaraki (since Shigaraki's cause is the only thing keeping Dabi thinking rationally at this point from what I can tell).

I play this song on repeat in order to get into Dabi's head when trying to write ShigaDabi from his POV.

"And even if you ask me to stop, it's too late because I've already decided their fate / It's not a distaste, it's pure hate and it pulsates and it works its way around my brain / Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I'll protect you til the day I meet my maker / So don't fight me now cause you might need me later"

Okay so first of all, Dabi and Shinsou both listen to Arctic Monkeys.

Ashido, and Camie definitely listen to Megan thee Stallion, Doja Cat, and Nicki Minaj

Yaoyorozu is really into Destiny's child, and SZA. She actually likes female RnB in general.

Sero and Satou enjoy Notorious B.I.G and Tupac.

Todoroki listens to a lot of indie bands, mainly due to his mother's influence.

The girls cheer and drag you over to the living room, where you’re met with large booms of bass and light melodies from popular songs.

Once the class was gathered, the girls go up and announce their game. “This week, we’re having a Just Dance tournament! With the new one released, we decided it’s only right to see who has the best moves. May the best dancer win!”

The rules were that the pairs had to be boy versus girl. The two class presidents would keep score for their consecutive teams.

While plowing through the brackets, there were many surprises. The girls were undefeated with the kpop songs (due to many late-night tiktok sessions), and some of the boys managed to score higher points. For instance: Bakugo versus Mina. Fancy by Twice.

He crushed her score.

“FUCK YEAH!” Katsuki screeched, as Mina sunk to her knees in disbelief.

“But that was my anthem!! I’ve never felt so betrayed!!”

He still rubbed it in, “Well, as the great BlackPink said...HOW YOU LIKE THAT”

You double over, along with the rest of your classmates. “Bakugo Katsuki, are you...a kpop stan?!”

“SHUT UP!! I hear you making your stupid videos all night how do I not know them by now!! SHUT IT KAMINARI OR I’LL MAKE YOU”

Once everyone contained themselves, the next pair was up. You versus...

“Midoriya, it’s your turn!”

It had to be him. Not that you hated him, it was the exact opposite. You’ve had a crush on him for a while, and everyone knew it. Except him, apparently.

You both take your respected sides with your remotes. You close your eyes and mindlessly scroll, letting fate decide the battle.

You stop, and the girls scream. “We’ve got this in the bag! We’ve done SO many tiktoks with this one you BETTER not mess this up!”

You open your eyes to Boy With Luv by BTS. Jesus, couldn’t have been better timing with your crush. Thanks a lot, fate.

The song goes on, and you’re already crushing it. The longer it plays, the more into it you got. You kept sneaking glances at the broccoli boy beside you. Although he couldn’t find rhythm for his life, you commended him for his effort.

Little did you know he was constantly getting distracted by the way you moved.

The song ends, you chalking up another point for the girls. You’re congratulated by the girls, only to be tapped on the shoulder by your opponent.

“You did really great, y/n-San. Way better than me, anyway,” he laughed with slight embarrassment.

Katsuki creeps up and slaps him across his head. “We could’ve won if you were so love stuck and staring at her, dumbass! They got another point, stupid Deku!”

Silence.

Not knowing how to respond, you just say, “Huh?”

Katsuki looks between you two, cursing at letting it slip. He angrily drags you two to another room, then slams the door while he leaves. “Figure it out, extras!”

There’s a few seconds of awkward silence before you break the ice. “So...is it true?”

Midoriya looks up from the ground, meeting your eyes. Then bows deeply. “I’m sorry! I’ve liked you for a while, but I didn’t want you to find out...” he continues to ramble.

As he went on, you knew you were going to have to be the one to initiate what was coming.

You didn’t want to scare neither you or him, so you felt only brave enough to grasp his hands. Silently intertwining your fingers, he looks up to find you with an endearing look on your face.

You embrace him. He in turn enveloped you in his arms, surrounding you with his sweet scent, and the warmth you’ve been yearning for. Nothing else needed to be said.
