Hi! Sorry I took so long to answer, but I most definitely can!

A lot of people have inspired me in many different ways throughout the years, but I'll go ahead and list the main inspirations for my sailor moon works. I'm obv inspired by a lot more writers and artists, but I think for this list I'll only post the writers and artists who have inspired me within the community.

I cannot recommend following these people enough.

@crawlspacefics you can find all her fic works here. If u don't know her works at this point.. what you doing.. she's the author of the wonderful 'fate' series.

@fictoryismine if there's is one writer I see never getting the credit they deserve is fictory. PLEASE check out "night sky changing overhead" if you like the character work I do, you'll LOVE their stuff.

@docholligay excellent character work and wonderful fics. Truly a one of a kind writer in this fandom, I'm very grateful to have come across her works.

@keyofjetwolf much like Doc, wonderful and insightful character work. You surely have seen her stuff on Tumblr, you KNOW how good it is.

@sailorfailures a TON of fun and unique stuff. Hcs, comics, art. I don't think I've seen anyone post anything quite like Sailorfailure's posts in the fandom. (Can you tell I love fun and engaging character stuff?!)

@songficcer probably the writer that solidified my love of makoami in stone forever.

@sirazaroff amazing artist with super interesting and unique headcanons. One of the nicest people I've met and the one to welcome me to Tumblr when I first started posting.

@iklenos extremely underrated artist. Please check them out.

@chernotravblog hands down some of the best, not only Sailor Moon art, but art period I have ever seen.

NinjaMatch, a japanese artist on twitter who used to draw tons of sailor moon, and specifically makoami. Outside of the ship though, their art is AMAZING! And artist I look up very frequently for inspiration

KBY, another japanese artist I look up to immensely and someone who holds a very special place to me given their art was some of the first I actively searched for (growing up I had little to no access to the internet, so searching for specific artists was a luxury I couldn't afford often)

The "Hello world" group and AZone doujins, I'm not usually one for doujins since the writing is most often subpar at best, but anything by Hello world group is really freaking good, I highly recommend you read at least one story by them (they are all sfw, dw). If you're a sailor moon fan and haven't read AZone.. what are you doing? It's great.

The 'sailor business' podcast is the reason I posted my first piece of fanart ever online. If you wanna hear some dudes talking about the 90s anime and having some laughs while doing it then check them out.

Also big shout out to Liz, my friend. She doesn't use Tumblr, but we talk Sailor moon all the time and her headcanons and insights are incredible.

Lastly, I wanted to quickly mention some accounts that have posted either some really good fics or some super interesting headcanons, some of which have probably subconsciously inspired my own writings and headcanons. Good stuff.

HI, LET'S TALK ABOUT ART THEFT

Hello, my name is Luna; I have gone by Luna for ages and have been friends with some fantastic artists here on Tumblr. One artist is @heart-of-the-morningstar

A few days ago, it was brought to our attention as a friend group that someone had reposted her entire work, and only in the small author note pointed out it was hers, and they were only doing this because the account has errors (Which it doesn't but we will get into that later)

The account in question for doing this is known as @luna-naoffcial

Now, from one Luna to another, stealing other authors' writing, purposefully taking art, and getting rid of the artist's watermark is wrong.

I have compiled a long list of proof of all the transgressions and my own personal grievances regarding what has happened and continues to happen in the artist community.

First off, story stealing:

To accomplish this, I went through every single story and copied not only the summary that this person wrote on their master list but also the first few lines of the text.

With this, I placed it in a Google reverse engine search and managed to find the accounts with the actual stories, all of which, from my understanding, do not belong to @luna-naoffcial.

I would like to dive into the 'apology' given out and the oddities I have found.

I don't know how many people on Tumblr are familiar with the Cait Corrian drama that happened a few years ago.

She was found creating many fake accounts on GoodReads and trying to ruin the chances of her other YA Authors' getting accredited.

She is also notorious for making fake discord messages to try and cover up her deciete

I post this specific account of the story and these screenshots to highlight the oddities of the following messages shared between @luna-naoffcial and her 'friend' @lia65lana towards a third individual named Kate. What is off to me is that there are a lot of odd things involved in this message exchange

For example, Lia is messaging Kate off Luna's account. Why not off your own account? On top of that, why is Kate on Luna's account? I trust many of my friends but would not hand over my account.

This conversation thread looks very similar to the Cait Corrians. Not only that, but the people in the conversation sound and talk very similarly. The grammar, spelling errors, and odd placement of some nouns and verbs are fluid between all 'three' people.

However, I am willing to step back and say it could be a dialect thing, as when I look at the @luna-naofficial account, my Google Translate automatically wants to translate from Mandarin.

What really struck me as odd however was the responses that both accounts posted as apologies

Lia's account is red, and as we have seen, Luna's is green.

Both accounts posted the EXACT SAME MESSAGES. Only Luna's had an additional ending.

As I was investigating for my friend, it changed again

Again, many of these messages don't fully make sense. There are many grammatical and spelling errors, all very similar to the original picture I added first. All of these 'three' people sound, talk, and make the same errors in all the same ways. I would like to play the benefit of the doubt. In these messages, there is talk of depression, death, and anxiety, all things I personally also struggle with and I understand are hard. However, they are not excuses for purposefully stealing other people's hard work and taking credit for them.

You blatantly take credit for others' work, which is wrong and disheartening.

Side note @alastorsmiles1930: The response and messages are also odd and read the same as all these others. This account is also the ONLY account that followed @heart-of-the-morningstar and the others in my friend group. I want to point this oddity out however I hope you are just an innocent bystander

From one Luna to another, please stop this and apologize. Not just to @heart-of-the-morningstar but to everyone you have been stealing from.

A bunch of HCs and small analyses that I remembered from my Live Feed document on watching AVA. Aren't to be taken too seriously but I think I'll stick with them.

Separated screenshots and some fun writings below:

for the first one, I felt it'd be fun to note how I found the colour gang acting a bit like young teens during AVA S2/AVM S1. The one that differentiated from this was Purple, who I felt had a personality like a 17 year old who felt they had to "be better" than their younger peers, also wanting full control or to be seen highly. They still acted childish, of course, hence 17. As the seasons progress however, especially by the start of AVM S3, the group mature into an age range that sits comfortably between 18 and 19. In comparison, Purple regresses emotionally into more childish manners, which I notice gave him a common "youngest of the lot" hc. This is because of him finding a parental figure in KO and therefore feeling safe to return to childish mannerisms.

unpictured is the fact I also gave purple an autism HC alongside yellow. red's adhd is already pseudo-canon (not stated in media but talked about by Becker) so i like to call the red/yellow dynamic the AuDHD pairing.

The race HCs were brought upon by the matador short, where I thought "for the sake of niceties, i'm assuming Green is just latino now", which I honestly had a lot of fun with. In comparison, I had a lot of fun with the idea of Yellow having albinism and therefore nystagmus (if you saw my previous post on the fandom art styles, Yellow is specifically depicted using the HC). I wrote this on the Live Feed:

Autism + nystagmus (an eye condition) = poor hand-eye coordination, in theory

A thought I had with Blue was from my personal feelings that Becker using Blue for AVAddiction and still keeping the whole netherwart thing felt very "good on paper, a bit hypocritical in retrospect". So, the concept came to mind of netherwart being an analogy of alcohol rather than a substance. Of course, the message still stands, but alcohol to a lot of people is seen more casually in comparison to what the buttons referred to. It also made me think of the common "chronic pain" HC given to Blue following AVM E20, and the idea that the whole buttons thing/netherwart overuse could be a result of Blue trying to avoid chronic pain/numbness.

Either way, I've been doing a lot of thinking since my uni trip (which I had a lot of fun at, but there was no service, so I had to just think of ideas in my sleep and return to them later). I was wondering if there was actually some AVM/AVA fandom discord somewhere, or just places for general community. I want to talk to people rather than fighting for Tumblr notes. In other words, I'm asking to meet people and make friends in places outwith this algorithm. Care to help?

WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG, VI, POWDER, and Ekko were all very close and looked out for each other. Ekko worked with Benzo, eagerly awaiting the return of his friends from their wilder hijinks. As they got older, their destinies diverged. Jinx and Ekko stayed true to their natures as resourceful inventors, but their stance on Silco divided them: Jinx becomes his protégée while Ekko vigorously opposes him and the violence shimmer created. He becomes the leader of a resistance group called the Firelights. In Season 2, Powder resurfaces to be reunited with Ekko in one of the series's most poignant storylines—or rather, alternate storylines. Baudry recalls that part of what fueled the multiverse section of Episode 207 was the feeling that Ekko had been given short shrift early on and there was a need to make clear that he, too, was an inventor. "We worked at Fortiche on the first video of Ekko when he was realized as a cham-pion, and there were a few things that we couldn't hit," he said. "One of them is that he is supposed to be a genius. He is supposed to be Leonardo da Vinci. Basically, he's cre-ating his own math system or writing system. So we we wanted to show in that episode that Ekko and Jinx are part of an academy, and they are going to school. Yet Episode 207 suggests a hollowness, something forever missing. Talking about his relationship with the storyboarding teams, the Season 2 director Bart Maunoury recalled giving them a specific direction for a specific shot: "At the very end of 209, I asked them to position Ekko exactly the same way as when he kisses Powder at the end of 207—to show that he's still there, but she isn't."

which is worse: d20 tumblr or d20 twitter?

this is such a funny question. frankly I prefer talking with my existing friends over discord over either of them but here's a breakdown of my experience with them

d20 tumblr

feels like a more isolating experience because of the way tumblr is set up in general as a platform. I follow relatively few people here, so all my interactions are from people engaging with my art (love you mwah) or asking me questions. nearly every time I go into a d20 related tag I regret it

I think frankly I disagree with 90% of the opinions on d20 here but because I don't have to see it I can just post my art and go

feels relatively static like there's not a good way to get everyone talking about a specific transformative fandom thing instead of only what's happening in canon because it's a looser more disconnected community

allows for longer posts and the search system on my own blog is great though. I love directing people to go through my tags or archived art

d20 twitter

incredibly, astonishingly, bad at recognizing jokes for people who are fans of a comedy show

way easier to interact with people which means most of the friends I make are from d20twt...

very easy to get everyone talking about one specific thing (ie fhsonas) because of how interactive Twitter is as a platform and how quickly word spreads

downside of this^ is that every time I express an opinion someone disagrees with they tend to assume that this is a majority opinion rather than like, 3-4 popular gay asian artists speaking their mind? when I complained about fhjy 18 battle on here I got interesting and thoughtful reblogs and everyone kept it respectful meanwhile on twitter people started making vaguetweets about how people who hated the episode were morons. stuff like us joking that oisin's grandma's whole mahjong group got murked getting 200 likes VS people directly shitting on us getting 1.7k likes and people going "wait... people are mad about oisins grandma for REAL?! she was going to kill people !!" getting 2k likes. clearly there is some sort of strange authority people put on your words whether or not you're actually just trying to have fun with your friends

I did talk about this more on twitter but I am not a fan of the CRitterfication of d20twt either. feels like much of the fandom is now watching because they're megafans of the cast rather than for the story which leads to some really big toxic positivity bias and the implication that criticism of the show == direct attack on the crew and therefore on THEM because parasocial attachment. I don't think it helps that for a majority of them d20 is their first big fandom experience aside from like... kpop or tswift because they have not developed a lot of the detachment from canon + not being parasocial + ignoring opinions you don't like if they're not directly addressed at you mechanisms that people who've been around have. sorry I'm not trying to fandom elder or whatever here I'm 21 years old but I think it's incredibly hard for me to interact with people whose entire understanding of canon depend on siobhan thompson's opinions like this

tldr;

d20twt has way less reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. better for making friends. I interact almost entirely with 30-40 of my artist friends. (my) d20tumblr experience is more chill and feels like I'm doing a seminar and people come up to ask me questions afterward. more isolating but easier to do my own thing. I do recognize and am fond of a lot of you but I've made one (1) entire friend who I can talk to off platform and not just see on the dash/my notes and that's just the nature of how tumblr works as a platform (it's terrible for conversations)

West coast teams are your friends, they're gonna play at the most watchable hours and tbh they have cooler jerseys and logos lol

Like you can choose an east coast team (I follow a few!) but it's rough out there

For good vibes and to keep your sanity intact

idk if you're a tumblr regular but i think this goes for any fan space: give the energy you want to get. lurking is fine too! but if you wanna make friends and talk to people, start interacting with them in lb tags and team tags.

for instance: like/comment/reblog posts -> compliment their art/gifs/web weaves/crafts. if you think someones lb joke is funny, tell them (add to it even!). you cannot sit on an island and never reach out and expect people to want to know you. Not saying you gotta fake anything, and blogging should not be a chore, just be genuine when interacting with people

I'm not gonna say there aren't cliquey, exclusionary spaces on here. there are. personally, I don't think they're worth your time. if you feel you've got to jump through hoops to be part of an in-group, if there are jokes no one will explain or if you're simply not vibing with them, just leave and find other people

Dip in and out of tags, find a team that compels you even if there aren't a lot of people around in the tag, find a guy and post about him. get silly, don't gatekeep, love your guy loud, be as weird as you want, you'll find your people

if you aren't already, get comfortable blocking people/filtering tags. it's not mean, it's not about taking moral high ground, it doesn't mean you hate them (and someone blocking you doesn't necessarily mean they hate you either). it's to keep your peace. if I didn't block xreader and gossip blogs I'd have a much worse experience finding posts in my team tags, and if anyone has ME blocked it is not my business! peace and love on planet earth

this is probably a bit specific to me but being mutuals with people doesn't matter. talk with them, have fun with them, make friends regardless of following/follower status. there are no rules + that shit isn't real. I am friends with people I'm not mutuals with (our blogging interests vary -> I don't expect all my friends to be interested in my 15 different teams) idgaf and i think you shouldn't either. i don't recommend auditing peoples blogs for mutual/following status <- not good for the soul!!

in the same vein: numbers aren't real. do not concern yourself with them. to borrow a phrase from that primer I linked: build community instead of clout. if you sat there and analysed tags + popular posts for some kind of pattern, you'd probably come up with some kind of formula for Doing Numbers but I don't think you'd have a lot of fun

regarding liveblogging and the outcome of games: it aint that serious. it really aint that serious. if you're spiralling, becoming abjectly miserable, just posting wall to wall venom/despair/kms/kys stuff... idk i think it's fine to just take a step back and chill. I really don't wanna tell anyone how to express themselves as a fan (and i have indulged in my fair share of despairposting) but you did ask Me and... having been in/seen some really nasty spaces, I truly think they're a bad time in large doses. if that's how you have fun then don't let me stop you, but if it legit sucks -> hit da bricks etc. There are better ways to spend your energy.

On bad hits/checking, fighting, general dangerous play

We're verging into My Personal Philosophy territory here, so leave now/take what you will from it.

Every team has goons. bar none, every team is gonna have players that hit hard, and hit to hurt others. That's NHL ice hockey.

Even the players who play "clean" are fine with being on the same team as players who play with intent to injure/play recklessly/target existing injuries. no matter what any of them say in media while condemning bad hits, they're always fine when they're on the other side of it and it's their teammate taking someone out.

My favourite player could deliver horrible check tomorrow, and my other favourite players on the team wouldn't bat an eye. Their teammate could deliver a season-ending, knee-on-knee hit tomorrow, and they'd probably still be loyal to + close friends with that guy. could say that everyone is complicit and to them it's just the game

I'm not telling you that you can't feel angry/sad/however you feel when someone gets hurt (normal to feel emotions!! feel them!) just that I try my best to remember all this when hitting discourse comes up, and it's how I keep sane while following multiple teams who want to kill each other

in the end it's on you how much you want to take these things to heart + hold grudges after bad hits! Hold your grudge forever if you want!

Personally: I will always condemn bad hits/dangerous play no matter where it comes from, but I try to let go of grudges quickly and never wish for retribution/escalation.

I truly believe that ongoing enmity + escalating violence in an effort to "self-police" between teams makes the game more dangerous for everyone on the ice, more so for the most vulnerable players -> smaller players. star players. already injured players who will get targerted. the honour code is MADE UP and players break the "code" constantly in search of retributive justice

The NHL will break your heart -> Hockey is bigger than the NHL.

Decide boundaries/limits for your self when it comes to player and org politics and morals. Your players and your teams will inevitably do something wack. There are a LOT of NHLers with shitty politics. There are a LOT of skeletons in closets.

Again, it's up to you how much you want to engage with that and how you handle it, but I would recommend not taking every tiny infraction to heart. I would recommend not persistently purity-checking yourself, players, or other bloggers, and not letting others do this to you.

if you're looking for a morally pure team or player to support, you're gonna run out of players quick. if you see a team or player has done something shitty and feel tempted to say "well, MY team/player would never [do shitty thing/hold conservative politics]" remember, without exception: they might have, or they would, or one day they will, or they are happily friends and teammates with people who have.

NHL hockey will never love you back. it is not a person, it does not have feelings. There absolutely are well-meaning, progressive individuals within the league. but the majority of the power belongs to people who have profit first in their minds.

If it suits them and their bottom line, if they see that it's not worth the trouble to look "woke" anymore, they'll pull the rug out from under us (see: pride jerseys) <- imo it's great when progress is made and we should celebrate it and encourage it, but I'm never forgetting that.

No matter how bad you feel after a player says something fucked up, or after a team does something awful, and no matter how many doomposts you read after something terrible comes to light, remember that there IS hockey outside of the NHL.

Hockey is so much bigger than the NHL, and you'll have much better luck finding orgs/players/leagues that embody "hockey is for everyone" and whose politics align closer with yours if you look outside of it. Euro leagues, your local rec league, WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY. literally anywhere. if there were a kind of hockey that could love you back, you'd find it outside of the NHL

Not to get extra serious but if you genuinely can't find a space where you feel welcome, where you feel embraced and seen, you might have to make it yourself, chief ! There are probably people around you who feel similarly and the solution is always to help each other, be in community, and build something better than what you found.

Heyyy, me again! First of all I'd like to thank you for all your replies so far.

Second of all, I'd like to ask if you know of any communities centered around ED recovery. I know of two subreddits, but of them are... really bad. One is not recovery focused and is mostly overrun by pro-ana teenagers who are looking for advice for continuing their self harming behaviour. The other is recovery focused but every post is manually approved by mods and the mods approve like...5 % of posts and you aren't allowed to talk about anything slightly upsetting, even though there's a whole trigger warning flair so idk what's up with that. I feel like there's strength in community and while most of the members of my DBT group have some sort of eating disorder as well, it isn't really the focus of the sessions and we are discouraged from talking about it because not everyone is stable in their recovery.

Third of all, is it normal for extreme hunger to come in waves? I've always heard about it as like...this thing you get for a week or two straight and then you're alright, but after a while of starting recovery, I got extreme hunger for like two days and then nothing. And after a few weeks it was like a day again. Last week I didn't feel hungry nearly at all and didn't eat much, and this week I've feeling super ravenous. Like since Monday I've been feeling like a starving beast of some sort dhdhhdhsb. It isn't even necessarily physical hunger, like, yeah, sure, that too, but sometimes I feel dizzy and hungry and like I'm starving even though there's no physical pain in the stomach area.

I did some googling and here's what I found as far as groups go:

(As far as I know, they're all free. I went through all the registries and looked for payment options, and there were none. I haven't used any of them myself, though. I believe most of these take place in the US, so if you're not American, just let me know *if you're comfortable doing so, of course* and I'll look for more!! I did find a few that were taking people from all over the world, and one just for those residing in the UK and one for Australians.)

Eating Recovery Center: This one has a lot of different groups, though you can only be registered for one at a time. They're virtual meetings. I'm not certain if it's limited to those who live in the states or not, but if you live there, you should be able to access it.

Center For Discovery: This one also has a lot of different groups. They're virtual as well.

National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders: This one only has 2 groups, one for those with the disorder, and another for family members.

Project Heal: This one is a list of 30 different groups, separated by category (high-weight and larger bodies, body liberation, lgbtq+, neurodivergent, bipoc, clinicians in recovery, age specific, general support, Spanish speaking, male identifying, meal support, and support for family and friends)

National Alliance for Eating Disorders: Virtual meetings, but not as many categories. If you live in the states, there are a few in person meetings as well. Led by therapists.

The Eating Disorder Foundation: Virtual as well. Lots of different options as far as groups go. (Family and friends, people experiencing binge behaviors, trans and nonbinary, individuals 18+, individuals 50+, neurodivergent, both virtual and in person for lgbtq+ people 18 and older, individuals 30+, individuals 13-17, art journaling, health professionals in recovery, and several other in person groups.)

Beat Eating Disorders: Solely for people in the UK. These are chat rooms. (General support, bulimia support, BED support, anorexia support, ARFID support)

The Lotus Collaborative: Meets on Zoom every Friday 3:00 pm to 3:50 pm PST. Anyone who is working on their recovery journey is welcome to join.

Butterfly Foundation: I believe this is solely open to Australians. However, if you just so happen to live there, they have both virtual and web chat options.

Eating Disorders Anonymous: This one has both in person and Zoom meetings for people who live all over the world. They are location specific, but there are many options.

Eating Disorder (Ana, BED, Mia, & EDNOS) Recovery Support Group *through Facebook*: I'm not a member of this group, but it looks like it shouldn't be harmful. However, since it's private, I sent a request to join to make sure it won't be triggering. I'll delete it off this list if it is. The rules that lead me to believe that it won't be harmful are as follows: "1. No numbers: All numbers related to weight, food, exercise, measurements, etc must be replaced by x/xx/xxxx. 2. No bullying whatsoever. Bullies will be immediately banned without a warning. 3. All pictures must go in the comment section of your post! Selfies and body shots are not allowed! 5. This group is NOT a pro ed group or a pro self harm group. If you support those, this group is not for you." There are 33k members.

Project Heal: This one was already mentioned, but I just wanted to single it out because it's specifically for meal support.

Balance Eating Disorder Treatment Center: This group is titled "Virtual Contemplating Recovery Free Eating Disorder Support Group". They state that if you're asking yourself things like, "Am I sick enough? Do I even have an eating disorder? Can I fix this on my own? Will I ever know a life without the obsession?" you'd be a great fit for this meeting. They meet twice a month at no cost. There is an international option if you're not in America. I wasn't sure if you'd need this one or not, but I wanted you to have the option.

Ana, Mia, and EDNOS Recovery Support Group *through Facebook*: Again, I requested to join this group to be sure it wouldn't be triggering. I'll delete it off the list if it is. There are 27k members. This one has very similar rules to the first one.

(If these weren't what you were looking for, I got a lot of area specific ones in my search *not included in this list*. So if you were to search, you may find some for those who live near you. I searched "eating disorder recovery forum", "eating disorder support forum", "eating disorder support group online", and "anorexia recovery support groups")

Update: I just got into the first group (they seem to work very quickly) and scrolled through the posts a little bit. Everyone looks to be pretty mindful and helpful as well! If you have Facebook, I'd recommend this one!!

To answer the third part of your ask:

My extreme hunger was terrible. Oh my gosh, it was just absolutely wild. I know exactly what you mean when you say you feel like a starving beast. Mine went on for a few months, if I'm remembering correctly. I remember getting it around October, and it stayed until January -ish? It got so much worse around the holidays 😫. However, I think it's different for everyone.

I remember looking it up and found this (I found it again when I looked it up just now lol) : RecoveryWarriors.com

In case you don't feel like reading it, the author says, "It was the oddest feeling. My stomach might feel full, but I feel an innate calling to keep eating. And eating. And eating. I'd consume huge amounts of food at once and still scrounge for more." She goes on to say, "Extreme hunger is not something everyone recovering from a restrictive eating disorder will experience. However, most will. When you'll experience it and for how long differs, but it is usually a (scary) part of the recovery process."

She continues a little bit later,

"However, it may take quite a while for your hunger levels to go back to 'normal'. There's no way of knowing how long extreme hunger will last. For some people, they may only experience it for a few weeks. Other people may find themselves in a state of extreme hunger for months on end. Or, you may never experience extreme hunger." This article by Registered Dietician, Shena Jaramillo, called Extreme Hunger in Eating Disorder Recovery explains what causes it, the signs, how to manage it, provides coping tools, and might help to answer your question a little bit further.

why are you so against ryden

I'm literally only pointing out why specific examples of "Ryden proof" don't work, or were misinterpreted by people who don't know much about the band. If me being pro-reality means that you consider me anti-Ryden then, uh… you might want to examine that more.

As long as we're on this topic, I'm going to expand on an older post here and go off on a tangent:

I actually loved the Ryden part of the fandom in the pre-split days! Ryden felt like a fandom-wide inside joke that united so many fans and sparked so much creativity (sometimes it reminded me of inventing bs symbolism in english & art classes lol). I didn’t read the slash, but it’s not like those kids stayed exclusively over in their communities… they were everywhere. A lot of my favorite accounts were massive Ryden fans & fic authors. but even the most die-hard shippers in 2006 & 2007 would scoff if new fans asked if they were ever being serious with their comments. It was all just entertaining wish fulfillment done to amuse themselves. They would act like it was a legit alternate reality and write long funny primers & posts like “look guys, they are in love. this is facts… here I go with my proof," but when it came down to whether or not they actually thought it was real… no, of course not. The fanfic authors were the first to laugh and say they weren’t hurting anyone because nobody actually believed Ryden was real and everyone was on the same page. They argued that every single band had a slash community and it just came with the fame. Some fans genuinely wanted Ryden to be real, while others thought it was entertaining how you could cherry-pick events & isolate them from any context to make Ryden look plausible. And both groups were taking matters into their own hands by trying to tie enough pictures & random dots together to make it look like a happy alternate reality that satisfied everyone. It was funny.

The majority of the pre-split fandom understood that Ryden wasn’t real, so people were on the same page when they shared their “proof.” It was like an inside joke. For example, I’ll argue that unicorns could be real because I know that the person I’m talking to is aware of reality. I can get as creative as I want and just have fun because we’re both on the same page… and the other person will be like “well yes of course they’re obviously real.” It looks like we agree. But that does not mean that we truly believe it lol... we're just bored & entertaining ourselves. Someone else who is unsure whether or not unicorns actually exist might read our convo and conclude that we are certain unicorns are real and have proof! But I never intended for my silly convo with my friend to be taken that seriously.

For me, Ryden was more about the fandom. It was just fun to see a picture or new moment and wait to see if anyone else spotted the same potential too. The slash accounts across different sites/forums would even make fun of themselves for how far they would go to make everything fit Ryden. At times it felt like an affectionate joke about the band and the fandom. 

I’d say the Ryden craze first took over with the huge surge of new fans during the summer 2006 tour (around the time Brendon & Ryan started fully going for the mic sharing each night). This was back when the band still read the forums and different fan sites and were trying to get a sense of what their fans were saying (such a bad idea lol). I was never totally clear on where the guys stood on Ryden in 2006 but it seemed like they were in on the joke… but it was so confusing at the same time. Like one minute they’d complain about the disgusting “pornfiction” in an interview and the next minute they’d be hamming it up for meet & greet pictures. Bden would practically hump Ryan’s leg during a show and then Ryan would suggestively run his hand up Bden’s thigh during a meet & greet exactly when he knew fans were watching… and then they’d both act like they didn’t get why fans ever came up with stories about them. I’m not saying their actions meant they were asking for something btw. I’m just saying that it’s equally true that the guys would claim they weren’t huge on Ryden and that they intentionally fueled the fire to get fans to laugh/scream at the right time. The band was super aware that the Ryden fans were a huge part of the fandom who drove a lot of the hype online… so it seemed like in late 2006 the guys were just trying to connect with a fanbase they were being quickly distanced from as they got more & more famous. Then in 2008 the guys intentionally added extra Ryden elements to their stage routine because they knew what a lot of fans still wanted to see.

So my conclusion was that it was all in good fun (except making suggestive comments to the band irl was horrible… people were even saying some seriously gross stuff to Zack about the boys and taking it waaaaay too far). During the lull of 2007, and even into 2008, there seemed to be a whole section of the fandom that was more invested in their fanfic communities than the irl band (they’d often come onto other boards & communities to ask for facts or details for their fanfics and watching the replies they got was like watching a really bad game of telephone haha so I’m guessing those plots diverged from reality pretty quickly). New fans were also being introduced to the band through fanfiction and seemed more intent on just spotting Ryden moments and learning the fanfic version of history rather than any real-life history. So by late 2008 there was definitely a small crowd who was taking Ryden more seriously and also understood less about the band. But I wasn't always sure if their tone was totally serious or not, because the joking posts had often been written in a serious tone too.

Side note on that: when I started this account in 2020 I hadn't thought about P!ATD much while I had been sick for years. I was just trying to throw myself back into the mindset of 2006 and rediscover a time when my world had been awesome & I was healthy. So when I saw all the sun/moon theories that had formed after I'd left the fandom I was like YES omg this is amazing. I lived for that kind of stuff. But then it was confusing how the same people who were currently posting all of the “ryden was real” stuff were the same ones who would quickly point out that another one of my Ryden posts wasn’t what really happened or that a photo manip that I considered fun was actually fake…  I mean, obviously??? I didn’t get why there was any difference between everything. It took me a few months to get a read on the current fandom and realize that things weren't being done in the same joking spirit. I started struggling to explain why I was posting Ryden-ish stuff if I didn’t necessarily believe what I was saying (and again I’m having a hard time explaining here because it never felt like the fandom was making up crap we didn’t stand behind back then! we were serious that we believed it was a darn good connection/theory or photoshop job haha). Ryden used to be like this shared alternate lens to view events through that felt like teamwork to create. We would intentionally pretend like years of full context didn't exist and create our own parallel narrative that could coexist with reality in our minds. But now it feels like people are sharing "Ryden proof" for real as though the piles of creative nonsense are an actual recap of historic events... and you need to pick some kind of "side" to believe? Idk, it's weird. I dropped any remaining nostalgia connected with Ryden content and ended up shifting the tone & focus of my account to organizing actual facts, media, and info about events I remember.

I don't think it's ok that moments in the band's history are often distorted or erased in order to pass off certain examples of “Ryden proof” as real now. It would be a shame for ridiculous Ryden stories to be prioritized as key info about the band while normal info about band members & events gets ignored now (ex: turning Northern Downpour into some kind of Ryden thing totally erases what Ryan wanted to do with the song). A lot of people have told me that they don’t care what actually happened because they prefer their ideas anyways. And that’s fine, as long as you’re aware that what you’re choosing doesn't track with reality. (Also, I always felt like knowing the real events or original photos from a manip gave me more appreciation for how creative people were… but I suppose that’s because Ryden was more about the fandom for me).

SIDE TANGENT: I drifted away from the fandom after summer 2009 when I got sick, so I don’t know specifically what happened over the next couple years to get so many fans who were impressively uninformed about the band yet super intense about Ryden at the same time... but I'm also not surprised I guess. Some knowledge about the band absolutely faded to the background in the last half of 2006 as the overwhelming amount of newer fans invented their own answers and were more interested in freaking out over cute guys than actually taking the time to learn about the band. The knowledge wasn't lost, it was just drowned out for a while in the midst of their enthusiastic chatter. It felt like a waste of time to correct them too because they were absolutely everywhere and they weren't really harming anyone by screaming things like Ryan took his mom as a date to the VMAs lol. Maybe there was a surge of younger fans by 2010-2011 who didn't have the context to know what they were looking at too, and were very enthusiastic about Ryden? I don't know. This is all purely speculation on my part.

I actually don't care whether anyone thinks Ryden was real or not... that's definitely not my focus and I'm not trying to convince anyone of a "side" either. You can conclude whatever you want. My focus in my posts is simply to provide context for some of the inaccurate stories & examples that are currently being passed around as though they're actual history. I don't expect anyone to care. But at least the info is still available for any younger fans who might be interested in the real-life band.

this advice is super common but for a good reason. starting at a new school is the perfect time to debut a "new" self. ofc you don't need to change your entire personality, style, etc. but sometimes after years of the same school, friends, & routine, you find yourself holding onto certain things for better or for worse.

so maybe you grew out of your sense of style and wanna try a new look - you can invest in a few pieces of clothes/ accessories and begin experimenting. maybe you have some toxic friends that you don't wanna keep in your life - time to slowly stop keeping in touch. maybe you've created a habit of not taking class seriously, never talking to teachers, & slacking off - now you can start doing the opposite.

the key here is that you're "creating" your fresh start. technically, you can make those changes anytime, but being in the same situation & surrounded by the same people can be paralyzing. now you're going into a new environment with new people who have no impression or preconceived notions of you. take this opportunity to decide the kind of person you want to be, implement those habits & traits, and show up to your new school as that person!

find a community

probably the scariest part of a new school is finding friends. if you're lucky you might have friends who are also going to be there with you. if not, starting from scratch is scary but doable. it's also really important - humans are social creatures & having people you can rely on & turn to is so necessary!

one way to make friends is by striking up conversations with classmates. this is very accessible since your classes will be full of people you can talk to and see every day.

another way is to find organizations you can join. find out if your school has clubs, volunteer groups, and other organizations for students. pick a few that really sound interesting to you, based on your hobbies or interests. this is a great way to meet people with a common interest, which is grounds for possibly making great friends!

also pick your electives based on things that interest you. if you're taking an art class, sport, or specific subject that you really enjoy, you can find others with the same interests and also potentially make friends similar to you!

be proactive about your studies

from the start, be really diligent about how your new school is structured. every school (and honestly every class & teacher) will be very different in terms of teaching style, speed, and approach to class concepts. figure out as soon as you can how things work so you can adjust appropriately & stay on top of classes. this is especially important if you're transitioning into high school, college, etc.

I'm sorry you're so stressed! It's tough when it's a topic that is important to you personally, but also one people can be very cruel about. Some suggestions that have helped me. It's kind of long so I divided this into a few sections, one on Social, one on Education, and a section about Health and other final thoughts. 

Social Stuff

-Being a part of communities (online but also irl if you're able) of people who are levelheaded about this topic, and who are understanding and encouraging. This can just be you and a couple friends, or more "dead dove" etc specific communities. When you get to know other people who are non-judgemental and actively excited about the same things you are, it gives you a more solid foundation for yourself.  It's great in case you need to vent or discuss such things privately, but on the positive side you can see for yourself proof that other human beings can be a part of such communities and such art, and are not the evil abstracted monsters people fearmonger about.

- on the flip side, actively avoid communities, users, groups that do the opposite, who moralize and who spend more time expressing disgust than doing tangible things. 

- Block radfems, trad-types, and anyone who starts saying shit like "porn addiction."  Block a lot in general. Block people you agree with but find their posting style annoying, especially popular accounts who discourse a lot or tend to start shit/qrt a lot, even if they are on your "side." If you don't, it's more likely for inflammatory posts to pop up on your feed and trigger spiraling. 

 It may seem that someone is Serious and Knowledgeable because they speak seriously about a topic, and maybe they are! But also a lot of us (including myself) are talking off the cuff at times, and are also fallible. It's not good to *just* rely on Posters if you want to get a more rounded view of the world, which leads us to .....

Educational Stuff

- Learning your art history! Transgressive art has an important place in human sexuality since the dawn of time. It's mixed up with both liberating movements as well as regressive ones, but when you learn about past artists and pornographers and authors etc, you get a much more rounded view of the possibilities of art, how it can have potential to influence and harm but also can be incredible tools of freedom and expressiveness. It's a great way to get out of the limited paradigm of "Anti vs Proship" and get exposed to more possibilities and discussions that have been going on for ages. Also, when you have a deeper understanding of human sexuality and artistic and literary history it's harder for bad faith anti types of kneejerk reactions to get under your skin. They shall be like chaff in the wind to you, so to speak. I recommend some off the cuff things in this link, but even things like Nancy Friday's Secret Garden and other older works

- To add to that, learning more about BDSM/Kink in general. I'm not a part of that community, but even if u casually follow people w/ more knowledge about it you see the wide variety of sexuality and expression that exists, especially when it comes to taboo fantasies and such.

Further thoughts, and more on Health

These tactics help me personally, because I'm someone who tends to feel more secure and grounded by Knowing More Information about a topic. 

However, if any of this is too overwhelming or maybe causes more anxiety, it's ok to take a step back. The most important thing is knowing yourself. I'm sure there's probably some good practices like meditation and whatnot that might help.  I believe it's also good to look into moral scrupulosity OCD and ppls experiences since fandom/online moralizing environment tends to trigger that in people a lot.  I'm not an expert so can't give informed advice about specifics, but this is what comes to mind whenever people ask me about this.

Guys I’ve been so busy this weekend but it’s finally my turn to make a long sappy fable thank you post :D

I’m not always the best with words, and I said a lot of this in the fan appreciation video already, but I wanted to put it all here too.

I first started watching fable smp in (I think)November of 2021, cause I found Sherbert and Heyhay through DSMP tiktok compilations on youtube, and saw they both streamed. Fable is the first time I’ve actually been part of a fandom community, and it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me. My whole experience with the community has been so incredible, everyone is so kind and creative and excited about the story being told. I met people through fable who are now some of my best friends on earth, and even got to meet up with one of them irl! I never imagined an online friend group was something I could have but those people, and the wider fable community, helped get me through some of the worst times mentally that I’ve had in my life. 

Fable as a story is so incredible, I can’t even put into words all of the specific pieces that make it so amazing, but all of the characters, relationships, stories, side plots, and just silly hanging out in character streams are something I love so much. I’m having a hard time writing this rn cause I don’t want to leave out anything important but I don’t know how to say any of it.

One of the biggest things fable smp has done for me is giving me something to fuel my art. Before fable started, I was just starting to experiment with digital art, but had a ton of art block and no motivation to draw much anymore. Fable gave me a constant source of ideas for my art, and the responses I got when I posted my art(for the first time ever) helped so much in keeping that motivation. Having fans and cast members tell my how much they loved my art was incredible, and it eventually gave me the confidence to open up art commissions, which I had never thought was something I’d be able to do. My art was actually how I met my now friends, we started talking because we all loved eachother’s art, and it’s so wonderful to have a bunch of artist friends I can ask for advice, show wips, and just hang out on call while drawing with. Whenever I draw I almost always have a fable vod playing, there are so many comfort vods that no matter how long I draw for, I’ll never run out. 

I know other people have said this, but I want to say it for me too, just because fable is over doesn’t mean I’m gonna shut up about it :D. I have so many art ideas I haven’t done yet, and so many thoughts and feelings about this story that aren’t going away anytime soon. I’m gonna keep brainrotting about these characters for as long as my brain allows me to, and even after that I’ll look back on this story and community so so fondly. This is a story and fandom that I think I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life, and I thank you all for that.

There is a lot of other things I could say right now, but words are hard and I’ve had a very, very long weekend, so I’m gonna stop it here. I love fable smp so much, and I can’t wait to see what stories you all tell next <3

The thing about the headcanons is that it's an extremely common explicitely stated opinion that all headcanons by other trans people (one could say cis if one meant cis) is universally of inherently lesser value. I don't think you intended your addition that way necessarily, but OP definitely, for sure, believes that, and you did kinna at least echo it yourself by going out of your way to assert how transfem intelligent and well-thought out transfem headcanons, which would not be necessary to just say that "TME" transfem headcanons often fetishize us or project an image of us that you personally find unflattering. You have also said before* that you feel quotation marks transfem headcanons are uniquely basic readings of themes and character traits that rise organically out of the text, as though transfem headcanons tend to have some objective truth to them that other trans headcanons don't. That only Minority Group X writes MGX narratives well is a reasonable enough assertion, but it's still curious that you used that very common and familiar "transfem art rich with meaning, other trans art loldumb" trope. Like that specific combination of effluent praise for the way transfem transfem headcanons work in addition to criticizing non-transfem transfem headcanons makes it feel more about the competition.

But it is also just strange to me sometimes the extent to which I seem better integrated with the wider trans community than a lot of transfems on here, because I've never felt anything but trust and delight when others put effort into that kinna thing. Equating other trans people to essentially the same as cis people when it comes to writing transfem fiction is bizarre to me, very XKCD 2071. Like, my non-transfem friends are not only very respectful, but just, like, smart and capable of handling that kinna depth too, even about transfem characters? I mean, I personally plaster my blog with Rhea Ripley for the exact reason that she's a cis woman who happens to look clocky as hell in a way that's very gender envy, and that's the primary basis for a lot of my transfem headcanons because that body type is literally my body type. It kinna sucks to have "trans woman visibly identical to a cis man with boobs" put down as an inherently trasnmisogynistic depiction. If a lot of "TME" people are putting that rep out there for very butch trans women, that's like, something they should be thanked for. If someone takes a big masculine character and puts boobs on him and calls that a trans woman, I'm going to be like "hey, thanks for recognizing that as a valid mode of existence!" Except, honestly, I never see that from anyone of any gender, just people talking about how there's apparently so much of it, so I feel both erased and demonized as the wrong way to be a trans woman, which I also get directly whenever someone has an absurdly negative reaction to the way I present myself as one and I get accused of being "half-detransitioned."

Jokes aside, that addition to Connie's post was what the cool kids call hyperbole. I've seen a handful of transfem headcanons made by trans women that I think are dumb and boring, and I've seen transfem headcanons made by TME people that are genuinely really great. For the record I do mean TME, not TME trans, not cis, I mean people who are not transfem. But those are outliers in my experience and I felt like complaining about that.

The "Minority Group X writes MGX narratives well" thing is a thing for a reason tbh. It's not cut and dry obviously, but I think experiencing something firsthand makes writing about that experience easier. I'm a white girl who alternated between growing up in the forest and suburbs, I have a hard time writing POC characters because I simply have not lived that life. But I can write transfem narratives all day. As for the "transfem art rich with meaning, other trans art loldumb" trope, I could talk about that all day, and I'd like to sometime! But you're bringing that up in relation to me complaining about specifically transfem headcanons. So even if headcanons count as art (they don't) this specific kind of art would already be weighted experientially, so I don't think it applies.

Yeah! Don't get me wrong, I love it when people headcanon characters as transfem, even if I don't agree or think it's kind of weird to think so. I like that I exist to people, and there's plenty out there that IS good. I've just found that it trends towards bad, though I'm certain a bit of it is negativity bias.

I also like Rhea Ripley, (I'm a big fan of Ripley). My issue with "guy with boobs" isn't that it's inherently transmisogynistic or anything, I mostly just find it lazy. It feels a lot like "hey what if this guy was a girl?" My only issue with it irt transfeminism is that I don't want people thinking of me, a trans woman as "guy who is a girl." It's a valid mode of existence, and I know big transfems who look like guys. But the process people seem to go through when making headcanons like that has always seemed lazy.

I don't really know what to say to that last one. I know lots of butchy trans women, and I myself will probably become much butchier when I get further into my transition and can pass like that. If it matters, I think a lot of "headcanon discourse" is essentially meaningless fandom drivel. It doesn't particularly matter if one person sees a character differently than me ya know?

Is there a DWR discord or any other community for this ship or other rwby stuff that you recommend?

So in terms of DWR discord not really. It's mostly just me talking about it, and my friends being nice enough to put up with it although I do try to post all the art and fics of them I find, and am planning on a DWR Week in Feb so that could be fun.

I do talk about them on the WR discord in the alt ships channels which is found...

I also talk, and post on the Cinder Simps discord from time to time where I also bother them about it in shipping. That one I believe is run by @scham-wcan a righteous dude

It would depend on what you want to get out of a community truly. If you want to talk mostly about WR, Bees, Arkos, or what have you.

There might be other communities, (I hear Frozensteel has a discord but that's all I know about it so you'd prob want to reach out to @frosensteel on that one) but I'm honestly pretty new to it so I just kinda try to vibe, post, and gush about my goobers, and other people's art, and fics!
