Here is my attempt of mapping out the Octopod. Probably a forever WIP cause the Octoray took me forever-

Will this become a full map? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on my time

#dwedit #doctor who #mrs flood #fifteenth doctor #the master #jacobi!master #tenth doctor #jack harkness #martha jones #twelfth doctor #ninth doctor #*#okay here is my argument: mrs flood IS a time lord but her presence here has nothing to do with the doctor #instead she's here because of ruby. she's seemingly part of/related to the pantheon of discord & we know that ruby is connected to them too #so i think that she was deliberately placed as ruby's neighbor by the pantheon/oldest one/ruby's mom/? in order to watch over her #it also explains why she was there to check on ruby in 1.04. once she realizes she's on the phone w carla she says 'nothing to do with me'#and she leaves. which implies that it COULD have had something to do with her. if it had been something else going on #ANYWAY. to get to the time lordness of it all. rn i personally believe that she's a time lord that's been hiding on earth for 50+ years #bc i don't think she recognized the police box as a tardis initially. that first quote should be taken at face value.#instead picture this: she's watching over ruby as per usual. a police box is there - weird but nbd. then it dematerializes in front of her.#she drops her groceries. she's shocked. she kinda looks scared. if she already knew it was a tardis why would she react like that?#so imo she knows OF tardises. she DIDN'T know the police box was one. and she's worried the time lords have found her hence the fear.#but when nothing happens and nobody comes at her she realizes she's still safe #later when she sees the doctor she realizes the tardis is his/he must be a time lord. he doesn't identify her but that's happened before #so then when she asks him who he is i think what she's actually asking for is his title. WHICH time lord are you.#bc lbr if she knows abt tardises then she knows about time lords and if she knows abt time lords she knows what it means for ruby #to be joining him - and that's why she wishes ruby good luck. meanwhile this is clearly the outcome she WANTS (them to be together)#bc she gets visibly upset when the doctor seems to decide to leave without ruby.#and for once i'm not master clowning bc the list of names the doctor gives out is VERY interesting. some of them we've never heard before:#the bishop; the conquistador; later he adds the pedant and sagi-shi and reiterates the bishop AGAIN. so i wonder if she's the bishop.....

Seeing people say that we never see the Doctor and Ruby talking for more than 30 seconds makes me think 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble has just clouded their memories because the first four episodes of this era are almost nothing but the Doctor and Ruby talking and bonding.

Yeah, the Doctor-lite episodes meant we haven't had as much lately, but so many are going on as there's been none at all, as if every episode before 73 Yards was like Rogue where they were mostly separated in their own plotlines.

#doctor who #dw #fifteenth doctor #ruby sunday #ncuti gatwa #millie gibson #and don't get me started on the tardis bookends discourse #that argument lost all credibility when the same people insisted the ending of rogue be moved to the tardis #for no reason other than they wanted it in the tardis #it was exactly the type of scene they said the season was lacking #but didn't count because it wasn't in the tardis #same as with boom #one of the reasons they don't do tardis scenes at the start and end of every episode is because they get rather repetative #if you started rogue with the doctor and ruby in the tardis it would just end up being a repeated of the devil's chord #they decide to do bridgerton and get all dressed up #we don't really need a scene explaining why they're there #it is built into the whole show that they are just roamers #often randomly showing up in places and trying to have fun #for them going to a regency ball is no different than going to a club is for most people #wildest one was someone complaining why they were in wales at the start of 73 yards #they argued that because we didn't get a scene in the tardis we had no idea if being there was intentional or not #but that is irrelevant #the tardis often just lands in random places and the doctor and co have no idea where they are until they step outside #so many episodes start with them stepping outside and going “where the hell are we?”#everything that could've been said in the tardis was said outside it #there was no need to split that between two locations #especially when one actors time is limited #this all feels tied into the ongoing discourse about shows being longer #which many say is to it in more character beats #but honestly just feels like a hunger for more content

Plot holes dropped threads yeah yeah we've all seen em, you know what haunts me? The layout of Harvelle's Roadhouse. It defies the laws of physics. It appears to be longer on the inside than the outside, but that's not even the biggest thing. We've seen Ash has a room in the back, BUT WHERE DO ELLEN AND JO SLEEP? We collectively as a fandom have decided the Roadhouse has an upstairs in fic because it just makes sense BUT IT DOESN'T EXIST IN CANON. #not confident about the ground floor other than the kitchen and bathroom are next to each other cause plumbing #there might be a small window in bedroom 1 ground floor cause the wall seems to not be blocked on the outside #yea bedroom 2 ground floor is noisy af cause street lvl windows and double staircase foot traffic lol #originally I was going to shove the bathroom under the staircase lol #yeah so idk where to put the attic staircase #also the attic interior is way too long to fit in the roof #unless the attic is the mf tardis #anyway do not hold me to this lol #lmao updated commentary ->#changed up the layout based on new info and some comments I got on the first/rough version #it's still not 1:1 to the canon designs but I've tried to place things in a way that make sense and fit into the building (sorta)#the interior only makes sense if the building was way bigger than it's depicted as #also I wanted to put the attic access in the closet but it didn't fit right #been treating the windows on the side of the building fast and loose cause man idk I don't get paid to do this #the only way it makes sense that there's light coming through from both the back and front windows is if there's an open enough space behind #maybe the building behind 221b is like.. long and narrow. or L shaped or something idk #still don't know how I feel about the main and attic stairs placement and layout but they work(?)#reference #ref

If TARDISes were real and I was like. Chilling inside of a TARDIS I think I would give It little treats or beverages or shiny little trinkets. Both as a friendly gesture and as in the way I would leave offerings on my altars, or for the spirits in my house. Will maybe elaborate on this later.

Just watched Fury from the Deep and I love Victoria's exit so much it breaks my heart. She's so worn down by their travels always ending up full of danger and death and her always being put in the position of damsel in distress. She really doesn't want to leave jamie and the doctor but she doesn't want that life and I love that it let's her make that choice. And I love that Jamie's concerned she won't be happy living in, what is to them, the future but she acknowledges she's changed too much to go back to Victorian England, and she's highly unlikely to get back there anyway, not without more death and danger. That the doctor changes his mind about slipping away in the night and agrees to stay another day so Victoria can think about her decision properly without feeling as pressured. The fact that she knows the doctor won't say a proper goodbye because that's his way. The way she stands on the beach watching them row out to the tardis, knowing she'll never see either of them again. The fact she doesn't go back to the tardis with them to collect her belongings. Jamie's "I don't care where we go next" because he's miserable that Victoria made that decision. The Doctor's "I was fond of her too, you know" which is the closest he'll get to admitting how much he cares about them all. I just love it

#i just have so many thoughts about her #i love that the story builds to her exit with her saying shes tired of being frightened and asking why they never end up anywhere nice #her exit's similar to tegans in that theyre both worn out and sick of it but i love where tegans exit is impulsive #and very much in the heat of the moment #you see victoria considering it throughout the episode even though she cant bring herself to say it to jamie and the doctor #and yeah i just love that we get to see the travelling take its toll bc when you get down to it she is just a kid who never signed up #for any of this #and where new who companions get breaks between adventures and have lives outside the doctor #classic who companions dont get any of that by virtue of the 'the doctor cant control the tardis' so the doctor and his lifestyle is all #they have #and it goes even more so for victoria bc shes one of the orphaned companions who has nowhere to go back to #(sidenote i was thinking the other day about how many classic companions have nowhere they want to go back to particularly with 1 2 and 5 #which fits with the whole 'cant control the tardis so they cant ever go back so we better make companions who dont want to'#idk i just love that so many of the classic exits are companions finding a new home/realising they can do good in this new place #like they can never go back to their old home and they end up with their temporary tardis family until they find somewhere new to call home #and ik we rarely see the outcomes of these decisions so we dont know if they were the right ones but still)#anyway this was about victoria #in conclusion: i love her and her exit #doctor who #victoria waterfield #jamie mccrimmon #second doctor

#doctor who #classic who #he’s so charming even though he’s a grumpy old man like #he has NO control over the tardis. he keeps gaining new companions because they wander into his tardis and then he can’t get them home #the tardis is just taking them places and though he never really WANTS to be involved he always ends up involved #and helping sort out whatever issue he’s been stuck into #and he plays it off a lot as he isn’t bothered by anything but he never leaves a situation when someone is in trouble #idk i’m rambling sorry #max speaks
