Guys I love you and I'm glad you all are enthusiastic but please stop submitting yourself for evaluation. Evaluating real people is scary.

"Zira" "Azi" "Az" SIGHHHHHH
is anybody else irritated at the widespread fandom nicknaming of Aziraphale and fucking nobody else? is that just me? because it really feels like a "oooh [wince-hisses through teeth], no, that's too long and weird. that's too hard. i'm gonna call you This instead" situation, and i do not care for it. it pissed me off when i was writing good omens fanfic thirteen years ago and it pisses me off now. you care enough about everyone else to get their names right, all the unusual demon and angel monikers, but oh no, Aziraphale, oh that's ten whole letters, that's way too long. oh you're not gonna bother to type all that, no, his name is just Zira now.
and like, he's not real, so this super duper does not matter and isn't deeply and incredibly shitty the way it is when it's directed at real people. but it still rubs me the wrong way every time i see it. that's not his name! why is his name not good enough for you to take the time to type out the way you do for everyone else! ugh.

"For someone who's very online, you sure don't know a lot of [pop culture] things"— my very-online coworker, 21
How do I explain I spend my time online drawing vampire milfs, searching international recipes, and listening to video game let's plays, without sounding like I don't give a flying fuck about popular media or celebrities? (Bc I don't give a flying fuck)
Rant moment:
I don't have tiktok, my Instagram was abandoned years ago, I barely open Twitter anymore as it's too depressing, all sports bore the hell out of me, reading time is sparse despite being a librarian, I've been plagued by some kind of mental block stopping me from reading fanfics for over a year, Let's Plays are basically the only way I experience video games, I haven't seen a full anime in years, I don't watch movies or shows unless another person sits me down to do so, hell even when I was in the height of my theatre work I couldn't be assed to remember famous actors in either film or stage!
I'M JUST BUILT TO LIVE AS HERMIT AND I'M UNINTERESTING I GUESS! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME???!?!??!
Makes me feel terrible because I cannot feign interest and an embarrassing number of people look down on me for it. "You haven't seen-?!" NO. OKAY? No I haven't and I probably never will!

This is just my own humble opinion, but if you only care about 'stopping' bullying and toxicity when it comes knocking on your own door, then you don't actually care about stopping bullying and toxicity

oh nooo that's quite a bummer :( but i'm very glad that i helped brightening up your day :") tbh your writing brightens up my day too (≧▽≦)
AND WAIT I'VE BEEN ACTUALLY QUITE THINKING ABOUT WHETHER ZOMBIE MOB HAS FOUGHT OFF A ZOMBIE WHEN I ASKED IF HE HAS EVER BITTEN SOMEONE and since you brought it up, well, would be okay to ask about the details of how it went 👁️👁️ (also him fighting off a fellow zombie to protect tome got me sobbing)
- 🪻
aww im glad my silly little words brighten ur day!! ur so sweet :]
and yes, it went horribly <3! tome prolly wasn't paying attention as closely as she should've been and got herself surrounded by a crowd. to be clear, that's not Always dangerous, since zombies arent like,, after ur brains in this constantly. but these zombies did look quite hungry, and human or not, she looked like a good meal,,
she had wandered off a bit from mob n ritsu, but mob heard the commotion first. tome has a big fucking baseball bat in this au that she likes to swing around, but a baseball bat can only get u so far in terms of self defense. she thins the horde but there's simply too many of them
mob lets exactly One zombie grab her and yank her toward them before he goes ballistic
watching zombies fight is a lot closer to watching wild animals fight than anything else, and it gets quite horrid sometimes. since their bites aren't rly "dangerous" to each other beyond the typical Oh No a Chunk of Flesh is Gone (not even painful for them, since their nerves r.. less than functional), the fight is a lot more close up and gruesome than a fight against a zombie and a human would be. humans usually back away from zombies immediately and try not to touch them at all in fear of getting bitten; zombies don't need to care abt that
most of the horde realizes that this meal isn't going to be easy and they wander off, but a few more hungry, more desperate ones try to rip into mob's throat at the first sign of defiance. it's not exactly a fair fight; it's like 1 against 4, so he's sorta bound to lose
thankfully ritsu shows up and shoots two of them down (he's Terrified of shooting mob by accident, but either way he'll probably die, so) and tome gets the last one with a good swing to the head. ritsu rushes to mob and is horrified by the amount of blood dripping from his neck and his arm; tome is equally as shocked, but she's mostly thinking, "ive Never seen a zombie defend a human before"
mob's neck is thankfully mostly just scraped up and clawed, but there Is some gruesome punctures where canines sank in and tugged. it's a lot worse along his arm that's bitten and gouged beyond belief. he loses a lot of blood here, but the whole nerves-no-longer-work thing is a blessing in disguise atm; he'd be in a lot of pain otherwise. while ritsu and tome are patching him up w shaky hands he simply glares beyond their shoulders like he thinks he's still in danger, even when they tighten the bandages. it's like he barely notices what they’re doing
his strangely alert behavior makes them think abt the possibility that maybe mob Knows he could've easily been shredded apart there, and he's a little scared and worked up abt it. the only reason he managed to fight as long as he did without dying is prolly bc the other zombies weren't as well-fed as mob—they were kinda weak and shaky from days of no food, but mob has humans taking care of him and keeping him fed 24/7
they're all shaken up by it pretty good.. tome is still reeling from the fact that mob defended her so valiantly, and ritsu is quietly horrified by the idea of another zombie killing mob instead of a human. he doesn't know which is worse

I originally wrote after seeing a post joking about a very serious thing that happened to dan and phil back in 2012.
I wrote it because the post triggered some really upsetting memories for me. I had gone through that exact thing on a smaller scale and it ruined my life for a long time.
I was going to delete it because it seemed too far and too personal.
But, I think people should read it anyway.
imagine if you posted private thoughts & photos of yourself to a place where you are certain only you and maybe, at most, 20 or so people will see them-
its your only safe place...
now imagine if suddenly a lot more than 20 people find out who you are. like millions of people. and, despite your best efforts, they find what you thought was your most deeply hidden secrets.
oh shit...
your employers see them. your coworkers see them. your friends all know now. oh god your fucking family have now seen that. All of it sent to them by some of the many complete strangers that watch you online.
oh fuck nonono...
What do you even do? What do you even say? You have no idea who or how many have seen.
maybe everyone has.....
There is nothing you can do but try to minimize the damage being done. all by yourself.
its just impossible..
what feels like the entire planet is pointing, laughing, calling you slurs and telling you to kys
you seriously consider it for a moment...
you have to just go on silently pretending that nothing happened at all. Live. On. Camera. in front of the entire fuckin world
How the fuck would you feel?

i don't mean this in a rude way at all, but the way some fandom people here and on twitter talk about comics makes it very clear that they're either very young or started reading comics very recently. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! but
because when i first started reading comics, black widow was left out of literally all mcu merch. those ridiculous ass-and-titties shots for female characters were the accepted norm (the hawkeye initiative was also fairly new). most popular female heroes/villains were basically sex objects to the mainstream audience. batwoman was the only known lgbtq dc hero and most people didn't even know she was a lesbian.
and still half the time you walk into a comic store as a woman (or "looking" like one) the guys there look at you weird. a lot of men throw a fit when a female character isn't fuckable enough for them. and most lgbtq characters show up for pride specials and nothing else.
i'm thankful for all the improvement in comic spaces and i'm happy to work for more. but i think it would do us a lot of good to remember this sexist history when we engage with comics (both current and older). you don't have to like harley quinn being a girlboss and having her relationship at the forefront. you don't have to like male characters getting sexualized or your favourite white man getting sidelined. by all means, keep criticizing these companies and their work! god knows i do! just like...idk. remember the power structures at play before you romanticize the past a little too much, or accidentally start parroting the same things as sexist, homophobic dudebros who want you and me out of "their" space.
(note: i focused on dc in this post because fuck marvel)

the thing about scara is you can TRY to reason with him ( and please, by all means, go for it ) but unless you're someone who actually has value to him, or you miraculously manage to earn his respect, he really doesn't care. you can tell him directly to his face that he's careening down a path to self destruction ( the traveler effectively does ) and it's not going to penetrate his THICK SKULL in the slightest. he literally does not give enough of a damn about what you think enough to listen to reason, no matter how good your argument might be. is it infuriating? yes, absolutely! he is so, so stubborn and it takes the humbling of a lifetime before he's finally willing to start paying attention.
