alright I’ve decided Fear Street 1994 is a good example of queer horror because like. Okay spoilers ahead.
Honestly, for being a cheesy slasher movie based on a series of teen novels, this movie was surprisingly thoughtful and poignant? Obviously it couldn’t have a deep exploration of certain topics, but it managed to be pretty cool when it touched on them. I focused mainly on the queer aspect but there’s also quite a few things I liked when it came to depicting people of color, impacts of socioeconomic disadvantagement, and also cops being bastards.
Bury Your Gays doesn’t really happen here, IMO. Neither Sam nor Deena actually technically die or stay dead, and IMO it’s ambiguous whether Sam is actually dead at the end of the movie or if she’s just been possessed by the witch. I’m inclined to think she’s been possessed because she’s alive and fine until she hears Sarah Fier’s voice as she’s being possessed
And like, BYG is when the queer characters die for no real reason and it feels like they’re being punished for being queer. Their deaths don’t feel like they served or meant anything. That isn’t the case here—this ending felt like a classic slasher movie ending where it just happens the characters involved are queer. There’s nothing about it that suggests they got this ending as a punishment for being queer and in fact, they still don’t die! Deena survives the attack and manages to subdue Sam.
You could’ve made either one of them a guy, and the ending would’ve worked just the same. Honestly that’s why I think this whole movie manages to be good queer rep while still being horror, because there’s nothing in it that felt like it wouldn’t have happened in a movie about a straight couple.
I was literally sitting here thinking, “You could make one of them a guy, and 99% of the movie would still work.” And that 1% is a brief allusion they make to their relationship not being fully open because they’re lesbians. You could write those lines out and the rest of it still works 100%. But even that allusion kinda never really comes into play, because hiding the relationship isn’t a plot point. They’re not hiding from their friends, and their friends are totally cool and accepting, so it feels more like flavor and context for why they’re not on good terms at the beginning of the movie.
(Also they FULLY use the gender neutrality of Sam’s name to straight bait lmfao and I can ALWAYS get on board with that)
You wouldn’t even have to change the fact that Sam’s mom is probably meant to be homophobic, because even though that’s what I and probably most viewers assume based on the fact that her daughter is in a gay relationship and she clearly dislikes Deena...there’s never anything that solidly proves that she dislikes her for homophobic reasons. She never makes any statement that would be out of place in a story about a straight couple. A parent hating their teenager’s high school sweetheart because “they’re a bad influence” is a really common trope across all teen movie genres, so again, you could make Sam or Deena a guy and the interactions would not change one bit.
Sam and Deena also get a really nice story arc that feels like a typical horror movie romance, but the typicality is the point! Nothing really changes just because they’re gay! They’re really sweet together, they have typical teen drama, their friends are supportive, and they have SUCH a sweet moment together near the movie’s climax. You’ll know it when you see it. So it feels like they got to be fully fleshed out characters whose unhappy ending was due to the genre tropes, not due to homophobia.
So overall, I’m gonna say that this movie is not an example of Bury Your Gays because 99% of it would work and not be weird if it was a straight couple instead.
Other things I liked about this movie that aren’t queer but were great anyway:
I love how every character in this movie who isn’t a cop is all ACAB, even the rich white asshole characters who would probably be able to get the cops to side with them. Even though one of the cops is meant to be a “good cop,” he’s still shown as a cop with all the institutional bullshit that entails. And I feel the narrative acknowledges that. He’s sorta nice to the kids, but he’s still holding a black man in police custody that the audience knows to be innocent. They literally shot their main suspect dead at the scene and he’s still trying to pin the other crimes on the black janitor.
I love everything about Josh. I love that he doesn’t die and I was so afraid he would because the black characters almost always die in this kind of slasher movie. I love that he’s shown being a nerd onscreen (RPing a knight in AOL chat rooms and playing video games and using the Konami code as a self confidence booster) and I love that his interest in local true crime and the paranormal ends up being a big resource and he’s the one who comes up with the Pretty Good Plan to defeat the monsters (even if it doesn’t end up working because it’s a horror movie). I love that he gets to have an innocent teen boy crush on a girl and isn’t made uncharacteristically predatory in the moment where he’s alone with her, or punished for being attracted to her (yeah I know, she dies, but again, it comes off like a trope rather than a punishment for some kind of transgression—it wouldn’t be a slasher if half the main cast didn’t end up dead).
Brief but overt mentions of the socioeconomic disadvantages that some of the characters face. Two of the characters are drug dealers, yeah, but they’re also shown to be hard workers in school and legitimate work. One is class valedictorian, the other is employee of the month several months in a row. It’s apparent and also outright stated that the drug hustle is directly related to the fact that they’re disadvantaged and trying to get money for themselves so they can leave their shitty town for a better life. They’re not painted by the narrative as good for nothing junkies, they’re shown to be kids in bad circumstances trying to survive. They’re also selling prescription drugs which IMO suggests....idk, I’ve always seen prescription drug abuse be associated with upper economic classes, so whether that’s true or not, the implication is there. And their knowledge of how to induce an overdose ends up playing a plot important role even if the plan doesn’t work, so although the movie doesn’t condone what they’re doing, it also lets them have a moment where their illicitly gained knowledge has a positive aspect to it. Also both of them are white which, alongside Josh, is a refreshing change of pace in terms of how people are depicted. Obviously the same principles of “dealing to survive” apply to people of color, but I think it worked better this way because the average viewer might not pick up on that nuance. So I’m glad they went for stereotype breaking because this is a 107 minute movie about undead serial killers, not an Academy award winning drama.

So, this may sound weird, since I don't ship ZK, but I think the reason some dislike EIP is because they realize it was the first part of a busted enemies-to-lovers arc. EIP was part one, where Zuko and Katara see how others see them, and it weirds them out. Yet, Zuko insisted on sitting next to Katara and Katara pushes Aang away, suggesting there might be something there that they don't want to acknowledge. (1/3)
The first part of the finale was Part 2, where June reiterates the "Hey you're with your gf again!" Zuko and Katara deny it, but there likely should have been an undercurrent of 'Why do people think we're together? Do we act like it? Should we be? S/he is kind of cute.' During this time, Zuko defers to Katara and despite Toph likely being more helpful, asks Katara to be the one to take down Azula with him. (2/3)
Last part of the finale should have been the money shot, Zuko taking lightning for Katara, and in a parallel to CoD, Katara healing him. Dante Basco is right in that there probably should have been a kiss at that moment and the end scene of the gang at the Jasmine Dragon with Zuko and Katara shyly proclaiming their interest in each other. (3/4, sorry I have one more)
Again, ZK is not my ship, but EIP seemed to set up a ZK endgame that jumped the tracks at the end. By all the "rules" of a good narrative, Zuko and Katara should have ended up together, otherwise EIP should never have been countenanced or storyboarded. Full disclosure that I'm not a huge Kataang fan either, but Kataang was done a disservice by having EIP exist. It either should not have ever gotten written, or the ZK enemies-to-lovers arc should have been concluded. (end)
Disclaimer: I don’t care if someone ships Zvtara. Never have, never will. If the takeaway you (the general you, not anon specifically lol) get from this post is that Zvtara is “bad,” then I’m going to assume you didn’t actually read anything I wrote, because that is the farthest thing from my point here. Also, this post is strictly my personal response to these asks. I don’t expect everyone to read this and be like “YEAH” lmao. I am sure some people have different opinions, and that is a-okay!
In short, I think we will have to agree to disagree, anon.
Do some people consider EIP the beginning of a busted enemies-to-lovers arc? Of course they do, they’re “rabid zkers” who wear Zvtara shipping goggles 24/7 lmao. EIP couldn’t have been the beginning of an E-L arc because such an arc was never in the cards for them in the first place! Katara forgave Zuko in the previous episode. Trying to cram a romantic relationship into five episodes after months of hatred between Zuko and Katara would have been awful writing (and thus probably would have been a decision mercilessly criticized until the end of time, lmao). So it’s honestly better that Zvtara gets to spread its wings in fanon instead (much less pressure)! Also, realistically speaking, Katara and Zuko probably still had so many issues to work through in their friendship. Like yes, she forgave him and recognized he was trying to do better, but that doesn’t erase what Zuko has done to her and her friends. There is still plenty of forward progress they need to make before romance can even be considered between them. If that makes sense?
Also, let’s be real: EIP and bit with June afterwards were 100% ship bait. Just an attempt to add to the “drama” of who Katara would end up. A technique only effective while it was airing, for the record, because if you watch the show straight through, it becomes glaringly obvious that Zuko and Katara’s relationship - while gorgeous - was always meant to stay strictly platonic within the canon timeline.
Anyways. I’ll try to break down your ask one piece at a time!
“Zuko and Katara see how others see them, and it weirds them out”
Yes, they are definitely weirded out! The transcript says, “Zuko and Katara inch away from each other, slightly uncomfortable.” Which is just a longer way of describing that they were weirded out by the depiction of their relationship in EIP, lol. However, the play is not how others see them. The play is the Fire Nation’s imperialist propaganda, meant to demean the entire Gaang. I talk about in specifics how the entire Gaang is belittled here, but this is the key stuff I noted about Zuko and Katara:
it’s important to situate that and more importantly situate eip zuko and katara’s relationship within the context of the show. the fire nation is an imperialist country. the southern water tribe has suffered heavily beneath them. we know from “the headband” that fire nation individuals are fed pro-imperialistic propaganda from birth; that combined with zuko and azula’s degrading comment of “peasant” towards katara demonstrate very clearly how the fire nation views every other nation - put simply, they are superior and everyone else is inferior. that attitude is therefore reflected in the eip play:
- katara, an indigenous woman, is highly sexualized and portrayed as overly dramatic and tearful, because the fire nation objectifies women not of their own people and views them as less intelligent and less emotionally stable
- she is thus paired as having a “romance” with zuko in eip because naturally, via fire nation logic, zuko would be able to “score” an “easy” woman of one of the water tribes
- furthermore, the eip “romance” between zuko and katara emphasizes zuko’s position as a traitor to the fire nation; the implication is that as a traitor, he’d only be able to achieve a relationship with a “lesser” woman, e.g. a woman not of the fire nation
That is not how other people truly view Zuko and Katara’s relationship. That is how the Fire Nation depicts their relationship in order to degrade and dehumanize Zuko and Katara. To misinterpret that as “evidence” that Zuko and Katara should have been together romantically is… disturbing, in my opinion. (I really try to stay far away from zkers who use EIP as “proof” of supposed Zvtara interest in each other like honey that is imperialist propaganda please don’t 😭).
If you want to talk about how other people actually view Zuko and Katara’s relationship, look at the Gaang, who were around them most of all! They never tease the possibility of romance between their friends. Why? Because within canon, there wasn’t one. Simple!
“Zuko insisted on sitting next to Katara”
Nope! This is all the transcript says: “Zuko [Removing his hood.] Just sit next to me. What’s the big deal?” He doesn’t even mention Katara! Zuko is literally just like I’m already sitting. Why do I need to move? lmfao. It’s no thoughts head empty for our favorite firebender 😂
“Katara pushes Aang away”
I’m assuming this about the kiss, which I’m going to make a post about in the future because I am TIRED of the tomfoolery. Anyways, I’ll keep this brief - yes, she does push him away. She does not deny that she likes him. For Katara, the issue is the timing: “This isn’t the right time.” Both Katara and Aang know they like each other, plain and simple (which is why Aang doesn’t ask if he returns her feelings - he asks if they’d be together, because he knows their feelings are mutual). Katara pushes Aang away because, as she says, they’re in the middle of a war. She’s already seen Aang die once. He might die again. She doesn’t want that, of course, but it’s a reality Katara is forced to consider.
Anyways, her decision has nothing to do with Zuko. Lol.
“June reiterates the ‘Hey you’re with your gf again!’ Zuko and Katara deny it, but there likely should have been an undercurrent of ‘Why do people think we're together? Do we act like it? Should we be? S/he is kind of cute.’”
June’s assumption - especially because it is a repeat of a gag from earlier in the series, when it is incredibly concerning to assume a Fire Nation citizen would be with someone of the Water Tribes because of the war and its consequences - is comic relief. Not even good comic relief, lmao, because of the horrific implications I just mentioned that come with it, but it’s supposed to be comedy. There was no need of any “Zvtara” undercurrents there because a) Katara and Zuko had never expressed romantic interest in each other in the past, b) it wouldn’t track with the show’s narrative of Katara as Zuko’s surrogate sibling because of her position as Azula’s primary foil, and c) it just doesn’t make sense in general. Katara likes Aang. Zuko likes Mai. There was never a love triangle there, plain and simple. Fandom invented it.
And again, if you want to talk about how people actually see Zuko and Katara, don’t look at June, who has never had a proper conversation with either of them. As I said, the Gaang is a much better example, since they’re with the two 24/7. If they never tease Zuko and Katara about romance, why should we trust this random lady who doesn’t even know them?
“During this time, Zuko defers to Katara and despite Toph likely being more helpful, asks Katara to be the one to take down Azula with him.”
As I mentioned, Katara is Azula’s primary foil, so from a literary perspective she absolutely needed to be the one to take her down. Zuko needed to face Azula, but taking her down - again, from a literary pov - was always meant to be the end of Katara’s journey (she was the only person besides Aang who was ever a match for Azula, after all, as we see in CoD). Also, how would Toph be more helpful?? Not saying you’re wrong, btw, I just don’t understand what you mean. If I was Zuko, I also would have brought the waterbender that I’d already witnessed almost take down my sister already 😂. But even if Toph would have been more helpful, sometimes practicality must be sacrificed for a fulfilling narrative arc, lol!
“Last part of the finale should have been the money shot, Zuko taking lightning for Katara, and in a parallel to CoD, Katara healing him.”
Honestly, anon, this part of your ask baffles me 😂 I totally understand why rabid zkers might make this argument, but taking into account the rest of the show… It just doesn’t make sense? It’s been talked about a hundred times, but Zuko taking lightning out of romantic interest would ruin his redemption arc, regardless of if it was Katara or Aang or Sokka or anyone in the Gaang that he was taking it for, so that should be the end of discussion, full stop. I’ve talked about this issue here and here before, and someone else does a great job breaking it down in this post, too. But seriously. Zuko having romantic interest for anyone in the Gaang would ruin!! His!! Entire!! Arc!! I hate when people don’t understand that 😭 Zuko had to learn selflessness, to learn how to put others before himself, and to unlearn the imperialist rhetoric he’d been indoctrinated with from birth. Romantic interest during canon for Katara, Sokka, Aang, whomever, I don’t care, completely disregards all of his growth of breaking away from the Fire Nation. Plain and simple.
“Dante Basco is right in that there probably should have been a kiss at that moment and the end scene of the gang at the Jasmine Dragon with Zuko and Katara shyly proclaiming their interest in each other.”
I learned in a discord I’m in that Dante Basco apparently hadn’t seen the whole show until this year lmao. He didn’t know what energybending was nor did he know A:TLA ended with a Kataang kiss. Take that with a grain of salt, of course (you can watch the livestream this is revealed in here, and it was also mentioned in the recent StageIt A:TLA reunion), but I think it’s safe to conclude Dante Basco can be treated like any other Zvtara shipper. He likes the ship, which is totally cool, but he is not one of the writers, so his opinion meant naught in constructing the canon narrative.
ANYWAYS. My point is why would Zuko and Katara proclaim interest in each other if such interest would have to be crammed into five measly episodes?? Especially when four of those episodes were the finale?? That is awful writing, of course the A:TLA writers wouldn’t do that, lmao! They’d built up Kataang and Maiko already. Why scrap it and needlessly rush a romance from an excellent - and, important to note, a newly established - platonic bond? Nah.
“EIP seemed to set up a ZK endgame that jumped the tracks at the end. By all the ‘rules’ of a good narrative, Zuko and Katara should have ended up together”
Nope. Idk what rules people have been teaching you, anon, but they were lying!! You deserve better than people who would lie to you like that 😤. But yeah, narratively speaking, Katara and Zuko getting together would have made no sense. It would have undermined Zuko’s and Katara’s arcs, it would have completely disregarded Katara’s established feelings for Aang and Zuko’s for Mai, and again, it would have been totally rushed. Who wants that?? Normal people don’t, lmao. This might be hard to believe considering I occasionally rag about BNF zkers, but I actually have several friends who are Zvtara shippers! They agree that canon Zvtara would have made no sense, and that it’s better to play out a potential Zvtara dynamic in post-A:TLA fanon. I swear, it is only the rabid shippers who think Zvtara should have been canon, and trust me when I say no one should want to associate with them, lmao.
(And again, as I touched upon earlier, Zuko and Katara’s canon narrative relationship was surrogate siblings because of Katara’s position as Azula’s primary foil. The show wrapped their arc up perfectly! With a lovely bow and all. So no complaints from me!)
“otherwise EIP should never have been countenanced or storyboarded. Full disclosure that I’m not a huge Kataang fan either, but Kataang was done a disservice by having EIP exist”
What EIP did right:
- accurate (and horrifying) depiction of pro-imperialist propaganda
- recap of previous seasons
- a lesson on consent (Aang kisses Katara, it is depicted as wrong, and Aang reacts appropriately by admonishing himself and by giving Katara space afterwards. like, people call Aang an incel/entitled/whatever, BUT HE HAD THE PERFECT REACTION?? he literally backed off and never pressured her again. i would have killed for the guy who kept getting in my personal space during my junior year to have backed off when i told him to. spoiler alert: he didn’t)
- hit some good humor beats
What EIP did poorly:
- honestly it’s not very interesting just based on watching it (deconstructing it as propaganda gives it better depth), but that’s to be expected from filler
- stupid shipping drama
- not having an additional conversation/explicit apology between Aang and Katara
HOWEVER. This final point is actually very subjective. For one, A:TLA has a clear trend of not showing apologies on screen. Ex.: Katara doesn’t apologize to Sokka for what she said about their mother, Zuko doesn’t apologize for anything he did to the Gaang, Song, or really anyone (closest we get is “Hello, Zuko here” lmao), Ty Lee and Mai don’t apologize for putting the Kyoshi warriors in jail, etc. etc. So while an explicit apology would have been great, the lack of one admittedly tracks with the show’s pre-established standards. And two, while I of course would love a conversation between Aang and Katara (that’s literally MORE KATAANG. why would I refuse 😂), it isn’t… necessary, to be frank. Aang’s mistake is treated as such - kissing Katara was wrong and he should never have done that. Like I said, Aang acknowledges this error and gives Katara space afterwards. Thus, it is Katara who chooses to be with him when the war is over. She respects the time he gave her to come to a conclusion, and the choice she makes is that she loves him despite his poorly-timed kiss (I mean, she forgave Zuko for being complicit in Aang’s death. Katara is clearly a very forgiving person!). So like,, it gets to a point where if someone doesn’t recognize that, they’re probably the kind of weirdo who labels anything they don’t understand in a story as a plothole, lmao.
All of this is to say that EIP wasn’t a disservice to Kataang. It certainly could have been better, of course, and the kiss was obviously only put in to hype up drama (“will they, won’t they” blah blah blah), but overall it handled consent well for a kid’s show.
“It either should not have ever gotten written, or the ZK enemies-to-lovers arc should have been concluded.”
On the whole, EIP is absolutely an unnecessary episode, yeah. It was just a recap before the finale. The only important thing is its accurate depiction of pro-imperialist propaganda, but most people’s minds don’t immediately go to that, I’ll admit lmao 😂. And as I’ve already said, there was no Zvtara E-L arc - fandom completely made that up. Which is totally fine! That’s the point of transformative works. But they are still fanon. Plain and simple.
TL;DR - Zvtara was never in the cards for A:TLA. I wish rabid zkers would stop pretending it was and have fun in the sandbox like the rest of us 😭
And for the record, anon, you absolutely, 100% do not have to be convinced by any of this! It’s just my own, personal thoughts on the whole dealio. No worries either way!! 💛
#emphasis on my use of rabid zker. if you know you don't fall into that category then it's obviously not about you lol#(general you. not anon specifically)#amy answers#anon#amy analyzes

I’ve seen hellers say that they won’t be be having a problem with this if spn hadn’t queerbaited them with so much subtext for their ship. And I’m like pleassse, there’s triple the subtext for Wincest. No, even more. To the point where wincest shippers find it confusing sometimes as to why they’re making it so blatant (s8 jealous!winchesters anyone?) Yet you don’t see wincest shippers complain about being baited into shipping the brothers.
Ugh, they're so dumb it's actually ridiculous. Supernatural never queerbaited ANYONE. There has never been any subtext for D*stiel at ALL. The only queerbaiting they got was from Mushy, and that was to sell merchandise! That man never cared about the ship, or his fans, just how much he could get out of their pockets.
But no, their overlord can do no wrong, he didn't queerbait them! The show did! Mind you, that psycho has been telling them since season fucking 8 that D*stiel would become canon while we had Jensen onstage at cons saying it never would. Yeah, sure, listen to the person who hasn't been on the show since the first episode, lmao. Listen to the person who does nothing but lie.
They let themselves get queerbaited, BLATANTLY, so they're beyond help. They chose to listen to Mushy say that Cas' confession was homosexual, while for YEARS Jensen has been saying Dean is straight. They chose to ignore Jensen and Mushy is the one they listen to? I love their selective hearing.
I don't feel bad for them. At first I did. But as they kept getting fooled over the years, my feeling bad turned into amusement at their expense. Because it's been 7 years since Mushy has been saying it'll be canon and D*stiel still isn't canon. Dean is still straight. And now they're taking a mistranslated dub as canon, so, yeah I'm going to laugh at them for the rest of my life.
They're pathetic.
Seriously, though, Wincest is canon in the platonic sense. Sam and Dean are soulmates. We were given that it season 5, and then we were given that in season 15. We didn't get queerbaited because we KNOW that Dean is straight. We know that there was never a potential for Wincest to become sexually canon.
I love when the hellers come at us like, "you say Dean is straight but ship Wincest?" Uh, yeah, because we know the difference between CANON and FANON. We're not delusional little teenagers who cry representation but ignore every other CW show that HAS representation because it's not in the form of two 40+ year old white dudes lmfao.
We don't actually want to SEE Sam and Dean making out on live TV. It would be nice, sure, but that's not what we're after. We understand the core of the show, which is the unbreakable bond between these two brothers, and we just wanted it respected. And the finale gave us the respect we deserve in the shape of that brother positive finale.
So let the hellers keep whining. They're not going to get the ending they want. Dean started the series straight, he met Castiel and remained straight, he died straight. And now he's in heaven as straight as he has been the past 15 years on the show (or 67ish years if we count the time between when Sammy showed up in heaven), and now he's cruising around with his little brother riding shotgun.
#anti destihellers#anti misha#anti destiel#destiew#destiel isn't canon#dean is straight#you guys lost#now shut up please we're tired of hearing you#go watch seasons 1-3 and discover the true meaning of supernatural#i promise you'll change your mind about the ending the next time you see it#wank for ts#fandom wank#fandom critical#long post ish

a3! as part-timers
I FINALLY FINISHED IT AGAIN. Thank you all for being patient with me because I really liked these headcanons and Tumblr just decided to delete them all <3
WARNING: rookie Chikage Utsuki will be included! (this means spoilers for Act 5 are present throughout).
It's canon that Sakuya works with Misumi, but I have no clue as to what their jobs are. Let's safely assume that Sakuya works at a cafe! His bright disposition and cheerful smile is bound to put a smile on customer's face, but he's a little clumsy when it comes to making drinks so his co-workers always tell him to stick to the cash register. It suits him anyways, being able to talk to different people of different walks of life. He mostly works in the mornings, only after he manages to get Masumi to school on time. He is a customer favourite no doubt, and he brings in a lot of tips for all of the workers to share! Many of the children that come by love him, and especially teachers who are running late to work deem him the sunshine in their life.
Masumi would work at a music shop. Not to be obvious or anything, but music is possibly one of the only constants in his life and he grew a deep bond with it while staying alone at home for most of his life. So when he manages to get a job at shop in inside Veludo Mall, he's ecstatic. Although he gets to spend less time in the dorm (which means less time with the Director), Masumi absolutely loves perusing the endless aisles of music cds, vinyl records, posters, and so much more. He's also very diligent at his job, organizing things perfectly and on time and even helping out customers even though he doesn't really want to. His coworkers grow so fond of him to the point that they let him listen to his own music while doing his job, headphones on while he reorganizes things on the shelves.
I don't really know what part-time job Citron would have, but I know he hangs around the Veludo markets a lot. He's there all the time, helping out the lovely ladies at their food stalls by actively advertising their products of the day and even charming young couples into buying some trinkets at another stall. His charm is very effective, smile so dazzling and eyes so hypnotizing that you can't help but follow him towards a stall where they're selling handmade mochi or fresh produce. This is all volunteering though, Citron doesn't get paid with money. What he does get paid with is lots of hugs and groceries to bring home to the dorm-- much to the delight of Izumi and Omi! Citron's so popular at the markets that he receives a greeting from every single stall while he passes by. And he never leaves empty handed!
Tsuzuru tends to boast about the countless number of part-time jobs he's had. From gas station worker, to waiter, to library work, he has done a lot of things. I don't really think it's something to brag about because if I had that many jobs I would probably d-word. But working at Mankai as a playwright, that's already his dream come true. I don't think he'd want to work anywhere else when he's writing stories and bringing them to life like he has always wanted and it makes me happy to see that he's living out his dream. If anything, if he does work a part-time job, it's probably to get extra money to spend on his younger and older brothers since he's such a family man. And because his stories bring so much attention to Mankai, Sakyo compensates Tsuzuru very generously.
Gaming is Itaru's part-time job. Taruchi is a mysterious persona who is crazy good at video games and has a soothing voice. The kick is that nobody knows what he looks like and Itaru would like to keep it that way. He's a popular streamer and Let's Player so there's no doubt that he is raking in a lot of cash. How he finds time to juggle an office job, Mankai, and streaming is beyond me, but it is absolutely impressive because despite how lazy he seems to be, he is a diligent worker who is very good at entertaining people. Plus, nobody knowing what his face looks like brings in a lot of intrigue and fans. Itaru always baits his fans that just maybe he'll reveal his face to them, but never does. Everyone loves his teasing and Itaru loves messing with people. One of the top streamers on his platform and he's proud of it. The appearance of Banri's NEO also helps a lot with bringing in viewers. (The extra money he makes is donated to the Mankai fund box)
Not gonna lie, but with Chikage being a spy as well as an office worker, I don't think he has enough time to have another job on top of that. As we saw in Act 5, he worked tirelessly on his computer, rarely sleeping. Being a spy is hard work, and now that he realizes that Hisoka may not have betrayed the organization, he now has to work to keep Hisoka's location hidden from enemies. Can you imagine being an office worker tho.... could never be me. Sry Chikage and Itaru lmfao but that sounds painful. Anyways, if Chikage isn't actively working for the organization and isn't posting on his curry blog, maybe he's doing tech support? He's always sitting at his computer so he might as well you know lmfaoo
"I'm too famous to work a part-time job" he says while at the same time applying to work at a bonsai shop. Who are you kidding, Tenma? Also pretty sure the owners don't really care so he gets the job right away since they're in desperate need of help. Tenma acts kind of bratty as it is his first time having a job that isn't acting, but he gets knocked down a few pegs when he has to carry around heavy bags of soil and nutrients for the bonsai trees. Eventually, he comes to love his job, seeing the owners as part of his family as they take great care of him while he works at their shop. Unfortunately, there will still be those fans who will watch him as he works at the bonsai shop, but Tenma uses it to his advantage, saying that if they want to look a little more, they're going to have to buy a bonsai tree. The owners are like ??? wtf tenma ??? but inevitably, it brings in a lot of business;;;
Yuki would definitely work at a boutique as an apprentice!! Working with different types of fabric and body shapes and frills, god, what a dream come true for him! Sure, making costumes for Mankai is one thing, but those are costumes, not actual clothes you would wear outside on the daily. His skill in clothes is amazing and it amazes his mentor who watches on proudly as Yuki sews something gorgeous every single time he comes to help. And Yuki absolutely loves being there too, getting to work on normal every day people who aren't huge hulking men that manage to ruin their measurements every time Yuki makes something for them. Plus, using this experience from his apprenticeship helps him a lot if he so chooses to go to a school for fashion. I'm rooting for you, Yuki!
Working at a manga store, Muku is absolutely in love. He's already in the Library Committee at school so might as well work somewhere book related, right? The boy was lucky to get the job at his favourite manga shop at the mall, and he doesn't even need to wear a uniform! As long as he wears his employee lanyard and name tag, he is all good to go! Being surrounded with his favourite book series and figurines and posters alike is very exciting for Muku, and he works extremely well with customers who need help looking for recommendations or gifts. His enthusiasm charms everyone he talks to and he becomes a customer and workplace favourite after a couple of days. His avid hobby of reading manga is apparent to everyone he comes across, and when he meets another customer who is just as dedicated to manga as he, they have long talks while Muku convinces them to buy more books.
Kazunari would definitely work at an arts store. Cliche, I know, but he wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Michaels would be a good place to start, but knowing how great he is at aesthetics, I think a paint store would do him well too. Both places would mostly have university students as their workers anyways so Kazunari would fit in right away! Popular with customers due to his enthusiasm with art, Kazunari gets a lot of requests for help when choosing certain pigments and wallpapers for bedrooms and large scale art projects. His knowledge with the subject of art is deep and wide, so he is able to answer any questions thrown his way. He is so loved at his job that when he eventually quits to achieve bigger things, they throw a party for him and all promise to visit and watch his next play!
It's canon that Misumi is a freelancer, which means he works any type of odd job and never sticks to one for too long. The job that he has kept the longest is the cafe one where he's with Sakuya. He actually helped Sakuya get this job at the first place, and when they work together, they're a force to be reckoned with! They bring in a lot of tips together and since Misumi is so quick on his feet and speedy with his hands, there's never a line up for drinks. Everything goes out the door just as fast as they had come in and his co-workers love him for it. He is also very popular for his fanged tooth and eye crinkling smile! Many regulars give him triangles as their tips! And if Misumi isn't working at the cafe, he's helping out as a mover because he's quick and strong (like we saw in HaGT), or he is helping out the local mailman. Because the mailman is growing older in age, Misumi takes it upon himself to help him deliver the rest of the mail so that the sweet old man can go home early. Misumi is always seen running around the neighbourhood with the mailbag!
I know this will sound weird, but I think Banri would fare well as a tutor. Knowing that he can just flip through a textbook once and immediately know what to do, I think it would do everyone good if he helped tutor those who struggle. Although I bash Banri a lot (as a joke) I am still able to see that he cares very much for others. He has rarely struggled in his life and clearly doesn't understand the hardships of the other members when they can't seem to do this or that, so he does his best to put himself in their shoes so he knows what he can do to help others who are struggling much the same. So Tsumugi helps him get a tutoring gig, and he hits it off right away. It's impressive really, how he's able to help students understand concepts they once thought they would never be able to get and it makes Banri happy. Banri is someone who wishes to help others-- he even says that he wants to help Mankai grow by bringing back the knowledge he learns at Veludo Arts. And I don't think he'd need the money, so he donates most of it to the Mankai funds.
Is it cliche of me to put Juza in a bakery? You know, sweets, confectionaries. BREAD. God, knowing how Juza grew up with a loving mom who almost always baked sweets for him and Kumon makes me want to cry. I love them so much. Anyways, he'd be a little clumsy in the back kitchen so I think he would just stick to decorating pastries and mini cakes and all that. It's a very curious thing to watch as a customer, a young, mean looking man scrunching his eyebrows as he puts a smiley face on a cupcake. It's cute. There's also another part of me that wants to see him work as an apprentice for shūji, or traditional Japanese calligraphy. Knowing that Juza studied it when he was younger (and that's why his signature is nice), it would definitely be pretty cool for him to do scrolls and stuff. It's a tough job though, considering the art of Japanese calligraphy is an important thing, and every stroke and word you write counts. It's a beautiful art form though, and Juza could make a pretty penny out of commissions.
After learning about journalling from Izumi, Taichi most definitely applied to work at a stationary shop. He's a bit clumsy with it, but he's got the spirit and that's all that matters! Strangely enough, this is one of the rare times where he isn't actively vying for attention, but for some reason he gets it a lot here. It's not like he minds or anything, but please, ladies, quiet down ^^; He is a favourite in the workplace though since he's so energetic and is always eager to help out customers; especially the old grandmas who are looking for gifts to give their grandchildren. The old ladies love him too, and they pamper him a lot much to his bashful enjoyment. And since his coworkers know that he loves journalling so much, they give him a lot of extra stock to bring home so that he can share it with Izumi and Omi! On a less serious note, he'd probably do public dance battles outside with his friends to get a quick buck.
Man... Omi would work at a bakery too. Most likely he would work with Juza because that would make sense, and both of their presences at the bakery shop would attract a lot of attention. Two, hulking dudes working at a bakery shop? Count me in pls. He'd be the one working at the back kitchen, baking everything and such. I would have also liked to put him in a restaurant, but considering that you can't become a sous chef or even a head chef until years later (due to the hierarchy and training), I don't think I want him to do that. He's already studying to become a business major after all so it would be difficult to juggle two separate things to study for. He would also work great as a photographer, but he doesn't do any taxing jobs unless it's for Mankai or very close friends. His friends always pay him too much, but they insist he keeps the money (which he puts into Mankai funds) and as compensation from Sakyo, the older man lets Omi indulge in buying expensive ingredients for that night's dinner.
Why is Sakyo working so hard? I'm getting worried. He works as Mankai's accountant and is part of the Yakuza; those are already two stressful things to work for. He has so much to do and there's always a lot of plate considering he manages a lot of Mankai with Matsukawa and Izumi, and on top of that he always acts as Mankai's Papa, Accountant, and Grumpy Old Man at the End of the Street. And when he isn't doing anything at Mankai, Patriarch Izumida calls him in for a task to do at Ginsenkai or the area they patrol. He also owns a freakin' diner that is under Ginsenkai's care like?? wtf Sakyo. He works so hard, spends tireless days to help keep Mankai afloat and it makes my heart hurty </3 Sakyo was my first crush so I can't help but worry a little and he's my comfort character whenever I'm way too engrossed at looking at Omi's huge bahonkerz so pls... Sakyo take care of urself I'm begging. Also most of the money he earns goes to his family, and the rest is for Mankai's funds.
Tsumugi on the other hand would stay as a tutor since it's canon! Sure, he has a bit of competition now that he's helped Banri enter the tutoring scene, but he's still got his loyal students to take care of. He is a very diligent worker and is very smart so working out problems is nothing too hard for him. He cares for each and every student he has, writing personalized study outlines for them as well as keeping notes on them with what they're struggling on, what they're excelling at, and even takes notes on their study habits and how long their attention lasts for until they need to take a break. Tsumugi makes sure that he is teaching his students properly and cares for them a lot. If not tutoring, he is helping at the local Veludo flower boutique and is very popular there. He helps create a lot of bouquets with deep meanings, but sometimes those bouquets he makes are gifting to him right after, lmao
Ugh as for Tasuku, knowing how good he is at fixing things, he would be great at an electronics store or a mechanics shop. He has a natural talent at fixing things and I can only assume it's because as a child, he really loved tinkering with items that were laying around the house. Plus, knowing that he has an older brother, he probably had a lot of Gundam sets laying around that sparked his interest in building things. You've seen him fix a lot of things right? To his motorcycle, his car, the television, my heart, omfg he can do it all like wtf. He becomes so skilled at fixing cars that he somehow acquires the skill to soup them up too?? When did those big ass rims get there? Where the hell did those damn hydraulics come from? That sort of thing. God he would look so sexy in a classic Ford Mustang </3 On the other hand, I think he would be great at becoming an acting coach. He might give Yuzo a run for his money.
It's canon that Hisoka has a job, but no one really knows what it is I think. I believe he would be a mattress tester! Remember that backstage story with the All Male Lap Pillow Competition or whatever? Hisoka is basically a connoisseur at all things soft and comfortable because he chose Izumi's lap as the most comfortable. He said it was so soft (god I wish I were him) that he could fall asleep and he did!!! Absolutely amazing. With his picky sleeping choices, Hisoka is able to tell whether this or that mattress prototype is good to go or needs some working on. The benefits to this job is that he gets to sleep a lot too because of course, they need to see if the mattress is good enough to sleep on!! Of course he gets paid in money, but since his managers know that he loves marshmallows, they pay him in that too.
Does Homare really need a part-time job? He's basically a renowned writer, it's just that Mankai seems ignorant to the fact. Tsuzuru and Muku has found a whole bunch of his books in the library for goodness sake so of course he's making mad bank! In HaGT he had a business meeting with a publisher/editor so you can't really tell me that he isn't good at his job because if he's having international meetings?? UHM. Of course he's famous literally what is he at Mankai for? The Found Family??? GOD OF COURSE you can stay Homare I love you so much. But seriously, he is super rich, and because he loves Mankai so much, he helps out and chips in to fill the Mankai funds so that they can stay afloat.
And here we have Azuma. I am not going to lie, but I am very protective over Azuma when it comes to his part-time job. Azuma was lonely for a huge chunk of life, unable to fill the void where his family used to sit in his heart. So he picked up skincare, and then he picked up cuddling/escort. His job in the past was full of false security and fake love that would never seal the cracks in his body, but when he found Mankai, something was different. He felt like he belonged somewhere. Especially after Nocturnality, it's obvious that Azuma has finally found his home. So I don't want him to go back to his cuddling/escort job;;; but if he wants to work again, I think being a skincare consultant would be really good! Since his skin is so flawless, many customers would flock to him for advice and the best products to use. His gentle voice and soothing caress as he rubs cream into his customer's skin is hypnotizing, and he shares his skincare routine with anyone who is willing to spend the time, effort, and money into making their skin look pretty like his.

Ephemera Week (2002)
I really wonder how effectively I’ll be able to do this in 2003. In 2003, Adult Swim started doing the black and white text bumps, where they give max sass and NO EFFS (fucks), so every week had unique content. I definitely don’t have the resources to catalogue every bumper or even come up with a decent “best of”. Ephemera Corner 2003 may look very different. To quote my good friend Zorak, “Brak, do you ever think about the future?”. To this I say, yes. Yes, Zorak, I do.
BROADCAST ANOMALIES AND SPECIAL NIGHTS!
Adult Swim Action (and other stuff) | February 23, 2002
February 23rd was the first installment of Adult Swim Action. Up to this point, Adult Swim aired a block of mostly comedy capped off with Cowyboy Bebop. This was the first formal separation of Action and Comedy. I remember the bitter rivalry between the two fandoms on various message boards I posted on. It really did seem like a venn diagram with almost no overlap; action fans hated the comedy shows (maybe they liked one or two but hated the rest) and the same went for the comedy fans, except most of the comedy fans I knew were devout anime haters.
At the height of my anime animosity an internet ex-friend of mine started a message board called ANIME SUCKS. It was an experience I’ll always remember fondly. At it’s peak it had over 1000 members. All but about a dozen of those members were actually ANGRY anime fans who just stumbled on the board and were FURIOUS at us for being anti-anime, and we’d just act like obtuse dickheads about it. Like, we’d act stupider than they were and just wind them up.
We developed a few tricks to really set somebody off. For example: they’d write an impassioned defense of anime as an art form, and say something like “it’s not all like Pokemon or Dragonball Z”, to which we’d reply “actually those are the only two animes I like”. This really got them. There was a special thrill to just replying “miyazaki is an idiot” to a guy’s 6-paragraph essay about why anime was “good, actually”, prompting an even longer response. It was really fun! We didn’t have to harass people online, they’d just come to us to get abused. I’ve never seen bait get taken so effortlessly. One day that guy just closed the message board, locked everyone out, and disappeared forever.
That was some aside, huh? Anyway, the arrival of Adult Swim Action meant that Adult Swim stopped airing the Thursday night repeats of Adult Swim Comedy, which was a shame. It Also meant Adult Swim’s Sunday night had an extra hour to fill, which they did with Rocky & Bullwinkle and the Popeye Show. People complained. I didn’t. Vintage animation is just a different take on the “adult” label. Besides, I was used to tuning out by 12AM anyway, so even if I didn’t like those shows (I did!) I wasn’t missing anything, really. But yes, if it were a full hour of Space Ghost repeats I guess that would’ve been better.
The Lewis Lectures | May 19, 2002 - 12:45 AM
A repeat of Lewis Lectures? IT HAPPENED! But what was so different about this broadcast of Lewis Lectures? Well, they accidentally scrambled the SAP audio with the default English audio, causing the Spanish soundtrack to play in tandem with the English one. It was bloody well fucked mate. This is simply no longer England.
I remember becoming an Adult Swim completist and taping this, considering it some kind of void in my collection. Part of me wishes I saved the recording, so I could combine it with the inferior YouTube rip currently up and have a closer-to-pristine copy than the one that’s available. But also, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST THIS IS LEWIS LECTURES WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. How much pain can I inflict on myself?
Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law Mini-Marathon | September 15, 2002 - 11:00 PM
On this night they aired a little Harvey Birdman marathon of the 4 episodes. This was kinda baffling, as Birdman had 6 episodes to its name and they’d been repeated into the ground by this point. I guess it goes to show that Adult Swim kinda considered Birdman to be their prestige program. I’m hard-pressed to call any one Adult Swim show “smart” in a way that’s apparent on a shallow level. Birdman is set in a courtroom, animated the most competently out of all their other shows, and involved cultural references in a showy way. Like, Space Ghost having Dave Willis absurdly shout “UP THE CHAIN” in the background of a Space Ghost episode is almost just a weird easter egg. But Birdman? Birdman was name-dropping Hanna Barbera characters the same way Frasier would talk about whatever gay shit Frasier talked about.
They aired The Dabba Don, Shaggy Busted, Shoyu Weenie, Very Personal Injury in that order. I would’ve swapped Shaggy and Shoyu and for Bannon Custody Battle and Death by Chocolate, but that’s just me, I guess.
vimeo
Adult Swim New Years Bash hosted by Carl and Brak | December 31, 2002 - 11:00 PM
Adult Swim officially ended 2002 with this: a night hosted by Carl and Brak in Times Square, watching the ball drop (which was FREAKING MEATWAD!!!!). I remember this night fondly. Unfortunately I can’t find the whole thing, but here’s a single segment I found on vimeo to give you some idea. I think I had it up at one point and Turner very annoyingly had it taken down.
I used to have this massive physical media collection; stuff on VHS and DVD and DVD-R that was meticulously catalogued. I ditched a lot of it in favor of digitizing stuff like this, eternally keeping it on hard drives that I meant to back up but never did. It seems more convenient, but it isn’t. If this were 2003 and I needed to show you this, I would be able to retrieve it from one of my many shelves. I might still have this, but would have no idea where to look for it and it would probably involve me getting in my car and going out to my storage unit and pulling every single box out. I turned it into ones an zeros and stuck it on a nondescript black box that could very well be dead. And now it’s not even on YouTube. Sad? Sure, it’s sad.
PEAK EPHEMERA
(phrase stolen from Grifthorse podcast)
Hey, here are some videos I found on YouTube in case you wanna go down a wormhole of watching old Adult Swim commercial breaks. May the gods of posterity keep them online forever:

MAIL BAG:
This ends EPHEMERA WEEK. We’ll do actual episodes soon!
What's the scariest thing you seen on adult swim?
I don’t know if I have a real answer for this. I don’t think I actually get scared by stuff in movies or TV shows. I can’t even come up with a funny answer. Remember the end of that Metalocalypse episode where the little sick girl is dead and her eyes turn into maggots and you hear that screechy voice was like I’M DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!!! I’ll just go with that even though it made me laugh really hard
Ever watch Limmy's Show
I am content just being vaguely aware of Limmy (no, I never watched his show. Seems good).
Please don't do such a big mailbag. I couldn't believe how many r-words wrote inane bullshit to you. Let keep this blog about the real stars: Master Shake, Space Ghost, Brak, Zorak, Meatwad, Frylock, Debbie, Black Debbie, Carl, Sparks, Stormy, Hesh, Moltar, Harvery Birdman Captain Murphy, Dr. Quinn, Paula, Marco, Brendon, Jason, Melissa, The Mooninites, the Plutonians, Peanut, Coach Mc Gurk, Mentok the Mindtaker, Virjay, Antoin, Colby, Trotter, Adair WE ARE THE UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE :)
I can’t believe this IDIOT doesn’t get that by typing such a long message he very IDIOTICALLY contributed to the length of the Maili Bag... LMFAO, what a IDIOT
This is maybe the funniest blog on tumblr. You really think these nasty little cartoons are special, huh?
Hey than-- oh :( Yeah, I guess so :(
would you like master shake if he did the whole thing
I’m sorry what

Hi! Can I please have some Karma and Sugino friendship beadcanons? ❤
*cracks knuckles* I’ve been waiting so long for this...😤💚
I literally adore this friendship! Definitely my fave Karma relationship (next to Kayano uwu).
I guess I could sum it up as...Sugino is such a popular, friendly, socially intelligent guy. Karma is “cool,” edgy, and very socially awkward. They’re literally the most iconic type of sitcom duo
Anyways, sorry I was freaking out for a sec there 😅
So...they get off to a rocky start, but I imagine they get super close over the year. At first Nagisa is kinda a middle man, but eventually, they can hang out and vibe without him around.
Sugino overcomes his prejudice and biased view of Karma, and sees the good qualities in him. His respect for Karma grows and he thinks of him as a trustworthy guy.
Karma thinks Sugino is ingenuine at first, but realizes he’s just purely nice. Sugino is very honest and easy to talk to, which is great for someone like Karma, who doesn’t trust people easily at all.
Now...for some headcanons hehe
Sugino is one of the few people that Karma will voluntarily help with studying. He may joke that Sugino owes him a favor or needs to supply him with wasabi or some shit, but he’s honestly just doing it bc Sugino is a close friend.
They’re the most confrontational in Group 4 and may end up verbally disagreeing just bc of their clashing personalities at times. Except it’s usually with little things, like directions, what to do, etc.
(In the future) Everytime Karma is mistakenly given the opportunity to drive, Sugino is such a backseat driver. He’s legitimately scared sometimes that Karma will kill someone...
They fight over the aux, and Karma somehow manages to get it every single time.
Sugino has accidentally hit him in the head with a baseball far too many times...Karma can’t even get pissed bc they are accidental.
Whenever they’re paired in PE, neither of them are taking it seriously. They’re just messing around so much bc it’s honestly so lighthearted. When they do take it seriously, it’s always an interesting match. Karma has faster reflexes, but Sugino beats him in agility. Sugino also has more raw strength, but Karma is a quicker thinker.
Sugino is canonically very talented at a lot of things: sports, art, acting... Karma jokes around that Sugino might finally beat him as the Class Talented Genius, but it’s not out of jealousy at all. It’s his way of complimenting Sugino and showing his support.
Surprisingly...Karma doesn’t ship Sugizaki. Of course, they’re both his friends, but he’s still way closer with Sugino. And he can’t help but see the delusional fantasy Sugino is living in where he puts Kanzaki on a pedestal. It bothers Karma but he isn’t sure what to say. He just hopes Sugino gets over himself eventually, but in the meantime, he’ll quietly support him.
The two of them and Maehara are the ones to come up with “get-rich-quick” schemes...they always invite Isogai but he just sighs and says “Don’t break anything. Don’t kill someone. Or each other.”
They once make a bet with each other that neither of them can indulge in their guilty pleasure for a week, and whoever caves first loses and has to do something embarrassing. Karma can’t eat any junk food or sugar, and Sugino can’t touch a video game. They constantly bait each other during the week while they’re both losing it. Sugino eats snacks in his face, including his precious strawberry milk. Karma rubs it in his face that he could afford the newest version of Sugino’s favorite game. They eventually end it without either of them lasting the week, and tackling each other in a fight. Group 4: “I literally can’t with these dumbasses”
They end up in a ballet class together with Kimura. It was suggested by Korosensei that it improves their balance and skills, but Karma shrugged it off and Sugino said he’ll pass. A couple days later, they change their mind bc dammit, Isogai and Maehara beat them AGAIN. They drag Kimura too bc why not, athletes and chuuni’s stick together. They leave having great ballet skills, and return to assassination. But Isogai and Maehara still be winning 😔
Karma is shook at first in the beginning of their friendship when he notices how many times Sugino nearly jumps into fights/starts shit. He brings it up, and Sugino just sheepishly responds “Oh you know, I only do it when my friends are being messed with. I really should handle things better though.” And Karma just stares at him like ?? “No Sugino don’t change. Now that I hear that, I finally have some respect for you lmfao.” And Sugino is like “oh cool! ...wait that was an insult.”
But that really is a part of Sugino that Karma respects and appreciates a lot. He knows that Sugino has got his back whenever he needs him there, whether it’s assassination, street fights, etc.
Sugino is a chaotic well-meaning idiot, but Karma never wants to use him as a minion like Terasaka. He’d prefer Sugino by his side, like a right hand man, with his support close by.
Karma lives to scare Sugino with his edgy stories, but of course, that goes away the longer they know each other and become friends. Sugino just either accepts it or eggs it on. Karma: “what if I drop this spider onto your head and it infects your mind?” Sugino: “do it bitch.”
Both of them get the same present format for each other on their birthdays. One joke/prank gift and one useful/practical gift.
I HC that Sugino becomes friendly with Gakushuu too at some point, so whenever the rivals are being petty and ready to kill each other, Sugino is just like :D
It’s a pain doing laundry at his apartment since his family has so many clothes and sweaty sports gear to wash, parents are usually busy, their machine doesn’t work sometimes, and he hates leaving things to air-dry... So Karma lets him wash his stuff at his house UwU
Karma always makes sure to watch his baseball games in the future. Not in person all the time, and not the whole game, but at least a couple minutes of the screen. Just to make sure Sugino is doing alright. If he’s having a bad day and isn’t in the lead, Karma texts him like “wtf u better win bitch >3” and Sugino replies “ur right but fuck u”
Karma has a field day whenever girls are flirting with Sugino and he’s so oblivious. Over the years, he has: pretended that he was Sugino’s boyfriend instead and “back off hoes,” basically arranged dates for him just out of fun, and catfished Sugino (as adults)
Sugino’s home isn’t perfect at all, his family is far from perfect. But it’s still way better than the emptiness that Karma is surrounded by. So he invites Karma over a few times for dinner and such, and Karma appreciates it a lot. He also bonds with Sugino’s wild little brother and they create so much chaos.
Sugino can’t trash talk at all, and Karma tries to teach him but it doesn’t work. He’s too wholesome, and Karma just gives up after ten minutes of hearing harmless, stupid shit come out of Sugino’s mouth.
Overall, they’re the Iconic, Talented, Sitcom Duo with so much comedy potential. I love this friendship so much!
#assclass#assassination classsroom#karma akabane#tomohito sugino#ansatsu kyoushitsu#headcanons#thank you so so so much#i love this friendship and i will take any chance to write about sugino uwu#group 4

Hi! I discovered your blog 2 days ago & read your Kaylor timeline. So refreshing to see some unbiased thinking! I 100% believe Kaylor happened but it's dead now. What's ur opinion on this: d'you think that T & K's teams use the “legend of Kaylor to keep fans engaged in their brands? K references T in her posts & she seems to know the signs Kaylors look for. K posted a clip of herself dancing in a cardigan in the woods 13 days before folklore, how'd K know? are their teams together on this?thx
Hi! Thanks babe we worked really hard to put it together. So I think Kar deeefinitely uses/baits/signals to Kaylors. This is because that’s a HUGE chunk of her online engagement, and tbh a huge reason for why mainstream publications are interested in her at all. She is MASSIVE in fashion (like we can’t ignore or erase or underplay that, she really was the last “supermodel”), but the reason she has pull beyond other former VS Angels or high fashion models of her generation ONLINE is her connection (konnection?) to Taylor. There’s no way Kar’s brand can afford to sever ties completely. Also she gets asked about it a LOT. Like not to be cynical but she legit can’t afford to totally cut the Kay fans off. For example, when she posted that pic of the KWK scholar’s screen and she was streaming Tay I don’t think it was accidental. She wants to/highkey needs to keep their brands intertwined.
I don’t know that she does this signaling as much as the big Kay accounts claim though. Like, no, every time she posts a flower it’s not a klue for the Kays. This is a sunflower not a fucking daisy. This is a kaleidoscope pattern, not a daisy, and she has another bag like it. She is allowed to post flowers without either signaling or baiting tbh. She is allowed to buy expensive ass Dior handbags and not be signaling to Kays. The problem with a lot of the “klues” is they are actually just reaches. Which like... okay whatever, reach all you want, far be it from me to tell people how to have fun online, but admit you’re wearing clown shoes 🤡 Don’t tell people it’s “obvious” when it’s legit not.
So for example she she WAS pretty loudly “clueing” a pregnancy announcement, those of us non-Kays who follow her (her fashion fans and like, Team Gaylor Chaos) were discussing the possibility ever since she posted this in early October and Natalia Vodianova (a very good friend of Kar’s) posted a comment about her “trying to tell us something” and this 😇 emoji. But Kay accounts missed that shit because they are being deductive not inductive. They’re not piecing clues together, they’re trying to find crumbs to prove a theory that doesn’t hold up. So instead of looking at what clues/Eggs say, they’re saying “where are the Kaylor klues”? And that’s not very good critical thinking lmfao.
Now with all that in mind, let’s get to the cardigan video. Idk what to tell you - it could be an insane koincidence, that’s the explanation her fashion fans would probably give you. I side eye that theory slightly because it truly is an insane koincidence lol. My crack theory/reach would be that Taylor told her the album was coming out. Like if there are Karlie songs there, as I personally think there are (ILLICIT AFFAIRS!!! HOAX!!! THE 1!!!) it lowkey makes sense for Tay to give her a heads up. And Karlie took that info and decided to bait/signal and keep their brands linked because she fucking NEEDS to because of the info in the first para. Obviously I don’t know for sure that’s what happened - but that’d be my explanation. Di Agron seemed to maybe know when the MV for Babe would drop so there’s a pattern to this.
If they were still friends, Kar would’ve received an actual cardigan. If they were DATING there’d be evidence for it instead of cracky reaches. But it doesn’t mean that Kar isn’t mining the konnection for online engagement. And if I was gonna drag my ex for cheating on her then boyfriend now husband I’d maybe give her a heads up - tho it’s pretty funny if Kar took that info and decided to bait.
Now to address a different point in your ask: does TAYLOR use Kaylor for her brand? Um. That’s a harder one to tackle. She doesn’t need to and she seems to have cut Kar off (she didn’t even bother to “like” the Rep concert tour pic), but seems somewhat bitter (she surfaced to “like” Kar’s wedding pic which is ODD). What is true is that Tay seems to have spoken about aspects of their relationship in her music. Idk if that counts as “baiting” - I think she was processing a very complicated and pained relationship through her music. She has never made out publicly as though the music’s about Karlie but there are a number of (sad, anxious, cheating) songs that seem like they’re about them. I wouldn’t call that baiting or brand building because that hasn’t been in the marketing and Kays ALSO MISSED IT.
I hope that answers the question? If you have any other ones let me know! And remember we are allllll wearing some form of a clown outfit. And that’s ok as long as we remember it.

I have Thoughts on Frozen 2 because of course I do. Spoilers galore under the cut.
Just to recap my feelings on the first movie: I loved Elsa, thought Hans was hilarious as a villain, liked most of the songs, and enjoyed the “true love” twist at the end.
Everything else? Pretty mediocre.
But I think Frozen 2 actually improved some things about the first movie in retrospect (while also being a good movie in its own right). Some things that I wanted but didn’t get from the first movie but got from the sequel were:
No villain. Well, there technically is a villain, but Elsa and Anna’s grandfather is long dead in this movie and not an active participant in the plot. Instead, the characters (primarily Anna) are working to fix the results of the villain’s betrayal of the Northuldra. The story’s more about characters working through circumstances rather than fighting bad guys, which I like.
Less Kristoff and more Anna and Elsa interaction. This movie felt a lot more like a story about sisters than the first one did because I actually got to see their relationship in action and their personalities play off one another.
I remember being annoyed at how the “Let It Go” scene in the first movie cut away from Elsa’s face to focus on the ice palace, but her big transformation scene in the sequel showcases her expressions.
Characters of color with actual names and lines and active roles in the story. That shouldn’t really be notable in 2019 (or back in 2013, even), but here we are.
Olaf was still annoying, but also funny.
More interesting/creative/colorful imagery as opposed to lots and lots of white snowscapes. There were a couple of sequences that looked like someone handed Jennifer Lee a stack of rainbow scratch pages and just told her to go nuts.
I think I liked the soundtrack more from this movie, too:
Elsa gets two Oscar-bait songs in this movie: “Into the Unknown” (which is genuinely fantastic and gives me the same “I could fight a whole mastodon right now” feeling that Idina Menzel’s songs usually do) and “Show Yourself,” which is framed as the successor to “Let It Go.” I actually found the second one’s melody a little lackluster compared to the first when I watched the movie, but it’s really grown on me after a couple of relistens. I like how it starts off very gently and quietly, and then works its way up to a powerful reprise of Iduna’s lullaby. And it’s a good answer song to both “Into the Unknown” and “Let It Go,” as well as the movie’s overall theme about uncertainty and finding your path. The thing is, the main reason I loved “Let It Go” so much was that– taken out of context– it’s very easy to read it as a metaphor for coming out (especially with the pop version’s alternate lyrics). And I realize that that was probably purposefully baity as hell, and I fell for it like a total clown, but whatever. Anyway, you can’t really decontextualize “Show Yourself” in that way quite as easily. That’s not bad, really. Just a little disappointing for me personally. Oh, and I really want a goth metal cover of “Into the Unknown.” Someone page Evanescence or Within Temptation.
“The Next Right Thing” is incredible and a very effective song about grief (The line ”How to rise from the floor when it’s not you I’m rising for” hit me like a train.). I like how muted it was, and how simple the lyrics were. Kristen Bell’s singing voice is usually sweet and upbeat and sincere, so hearing how raw and tired she sounded in this song really left an impression.
I really liked Iduna’s lullaby (because I love a good lullaby in any musical).
Olaf’s song felt kind of jarring for the point it was at in the movie, and it has this really dopey melody that I feel like was conceived and written in the span of like twenty minutes tops, but it’s still genuinely funny. I liked the how it fit into his whole little subplot about growing older (and the movie’s overall theme).
Kristoff’s song was... a Choice. I guess if you really wanted to put a 80s pop ballad music video in this movie as a gag, "Lost in the Woods” is fine. I actually really like the song on its own, but there was just no reason for it to be as long as it was in the movie, lmao. Like I get that you have a Jonathan Groff and you want to use him, but I got the joke after we hit the chorus the first time; you don’t have to stretch it out. Just cut the song short in the movie and put the full version on the OST.
And lastly, the character arcs and overall storyline were better this time around:
I liked the movie’s theme of feeling lost and having the courage to find your footing and also yourself. “Into the Unknown” is Elsa’s song, but the rest of the movie’s soundtrack advances the themes from it. Olaf’s song is about assuming he’ll understand everything when he’s older highlights the point that there is no fixed time in your life where everything is clear and easy and you stop having to grow as a person. Anna’s “The Next Right Thing” is about picking yourself up after a harsh blow and making yourself keep going, simplifying it to just taking one step at a time. Even Kristoff’s song builds on this theme since it’s about feeling completely lost without someone, so it still fits the broader concept of being uncertain. And “Show Yourself” is about finally finding your path and feeling certain in spite of your fear.
Elsa’s character arc has a much more satisfying resolution than the one she had in Frozen. In the first movie, she accidentally reveals her powers, runs away in shame and then finds that she actually likes herself when she’s on her own and isn’t forced to hide who/what she is, is eventually brought back home against her will, and... that’s where she stays at the end of the story. In this one, she starts off safe at home, does the standard Hero Rejects the (Literal) Call to Adventure thing before finally deciding to follow it, ultimately finds the source of The Call, comes into her own, and stays with the Northuldra at the end to live out her life as the Avatar one half of the “fifth spirit” that connects humans to the elemental spirits. She still has Anna, understands who she is, and gets to stay where she’s happy and where she feels like she belongs. I kind of wish she’d just let Arendelle get destroyed, though. Not like anyone was home anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I liked Anna a lot more in the sequel. I didn’t really care for her or Kristoff in the first movie (or their relationship because it was basically just a watered-down version of Rapunzel and Eugene’s), but I think it helped that she spent most of her screentime in this movie either with Elsa, Olaf, or alone. I like that she’s not clingy exactly, but she’s clearly very anxious about Elsa’s safety at all times. She follows Elsa everywhere, asks if she’s okay like a dozen different times, and only leaves her side when Elsa physically forces her to. I liked seeing how desperate she was to keep Elsa with her after being pushed away from her for so long. I liked watching her pick herself back up after she thought she’d lost her sister for good, and I loved how willing she was to destroy her own home to make things right with the Northuldra and the forest. Anna was very flawed and admirable in this movie, and just an all-around great character. And I definitely think she’s better suited as queen than Elsa. I wish we’d gotten a scene showing Elsa telling Anna that she was going to stay in the forest. It would’ve capped both their storylines a bit better to show both of them accepting this major change to their lives and their dual roles in their world. It seems like such a natural and obvious conclusion that I’m almost convinced that a scene depicting that very thing exists and was just cut for time.
I liked the snowman’s character arc, lmao. It was a nice microcosm of the movie’s themes, and the post-credits scene was a good way to end it.
I liked Mattias. He introduces the concept of doing “the next right thing” whenever you’re at a loss of how to proceed with your life. He’s also surprisingly willing to destroy Arendelle after Anna tells him why that needs to happen. I would’ve liked more dialogue there, or to see him struggle with the decision a little, but I guess there was just no time for it.
Aside from Iduna, the Northuldra characters weren’t in the movie quite as much as I think they should’ve been. There’s the tribe’s leader, who obviously has some (mutual) distrust of Mattias and what’s left of the Arendelle guard. There’s Honeymaren, who gives some useful exposition here and there, and she also gives you an idea of just how long the conflict between the Arendellians and the Northuldra has lasted since she’s lived her whole life without seeing the sky because of it. And then there’s Ryder, who... is basically Kristoff personality-wise, lmfao. Because we really needed two of him. I think you could’ve collapsed him and Honeymaren into one character without really losing anything crucial to the plot. But anyway, maybe they all could’ve played a part in guiding the rockbiters Earth Spirits to destroy the dam the way the Arendelle guard did. I get that that was meant to be a moment of reckoning for the Arendellian characters, but the Northuldra (and not just Anna) had a right to play a part in that, too. If nothing else, it would’ve been good to see the tribe’s leader watch the dam fall since she was alive to see it built in the first place.
As for Iduna... She’s an actual character in this movie. We learn that she’s part of the Northuldra tribe and that she apparently hid her identity from her husband all her life, I guess out of fear that he may harbor the same distrust of magic as his father (and given how he tried– however well-intentionally– to suppress Elsa’s magic after she accidentally hurt Anna, Iduna probably wasn’t wrong for that). At the same time, though, it makes you wonder why she never told Elsa about her heritage or the spirits while she was alive. She knew that humans and magic could coexist harmoniously; did she really keep that a secret just so her husband wouldn’t know who she was? Did King Husband just not suspect anything when his first kid was born a waterbender? I mean, I know the real reason for all this is that the writers just hadn’t thought this backstory up yet when the first movie came out, lol, but still. It throws the king and queen’s actions in the first movie in a more interesting context, but not one that really makes sense... I dunno, I guess it needed some more fine-tuning. A little more insight into Iduna’s rationale during Elsa’s childhood would’ve helped.
So to sum up: it’s not perfect, but I definitely think it was better written than the original (which I realize isn’t saying much, lol, but still). It does everything a sequel is supposed to do: it expands on the world the story takes place in, gives more depth to the characters (not just in giving them more backstory, but also in giving them new challenges to grow from), and tells a story that’s actually new. There are obviously things I think could’ve been done better, but it’s mostly stuff that would just improve something that already has a pretty good foundation (as opposed to the first movie, which almost needed to be completely reworked from the ground up).
I liked the unified theming and how clearly it’s shown through the songs, the two leads’ character arcs, the OST, the visuals. I do wish it had followed through with some of the stakes it presented (like actually destroying Arendelle and just... letting Olaf stay dead lmfao), and that it’d developed a couple of the Northuldra characters a bit more, but yeah, overall? Not bad. Definitely an improvement from the original if nothing else.
#sometimes i watch things#will tag later#i haven't had time to gage how scary the fandom is these days lmao so i'm staying out of the main tag for now#frozen 2

ua-mar
Todoroki.....😔
I think Miruko Sensei wouldn’t like it if we kept on bashing ourselves 😔
ua-mar
We can build ourselves back up again as a team ☺️!
ua-miruko
.....yeah. haha
ua-mar
Sensei, I know Inasa is still in the hospital at the moment, so we’re not complete as a full team, but are we still going to be sticking to our training routines or will we be doing patrol duties?
ua-miruko
nah...i can handle patrols fine on my own
stick to training... we should resume em in a few days, yeah
ua-mar
Understood! We’ll commence with training!

She’s straight up acting like she’s legit being threatened with a gun too when a) it’s a picture online not even saying they’re going to shoot her and b) in this instance, the gun isn’t even pointing in the right direction lmfao
Yet they can say what they want about trans people including literally suicide baiting and then “it’s just words and all online lmao, if stuff online hurts you you’re mentally ill and need to log off XD”
Also: how does she know it’s even trans women who are sending her these things? She can verify that but can’t verify that the people she’s tweeting out love too aren’t misogynistic, homophobic conservatives? 🤔

Obi-Wan Kenobi, episode 1
I had a blast watching and liveblogging this, believe it or not!
[Spoilers for the next episodes, and hopefully vague spoilers for KOTOR]
I appreciate the prequels recap. I last saw them when TFA came out... It's very funny to see “It’s over, Anakin! I have the high ground” and “You underestimate my power” included in full seriousness, though.
Wow, they're opening with the younglings? Brutal. Oh, must be saving the kicker to bookend the episode, then.
Oh so we’re focusing on the “nazi stand-in” angle here?
Oh right, I should have watched for the kid in the opening. I didn’t try to see her among the others. Also interesting how this “ten years later” timeskip frames her as the viewpoint character, though the viewer isn’t supposed to immediately realize it.
Oh god the word “Inquisitors” was said with the same cadence/accent they greet your player character in Dragon Age Inquisition, I almost jumped!
Did... did they put the Asian guy in a stereotypical Asian hat?! Bit distasteful.
Omg I thought she was uncomfortable for some reason I didn’t realize she just resented the guy for monologuing lmfao. Also nice bait-and-switch with the Jedi, I totally assumed it was Obi-Wan despite having a second-long thought like “Huh, this guy is dressed like a Jedi”. Why is he dressed like a Jedi, by the way? Is nobody in the order familiar with the concept of blending in?
Oh, the hat guy speaks with a Japanese accent, too.
“You will forget this fixation with Kenobi or I will relieve you of your duties”, Palpatine never said to Vader, presumably.
Idk why the Inquisitor is mad, she was way more efficient at finding the target...
This is such a CGI flyover.
LMAO he does steal the meat super conspicuously.
Obi-Wan: *beautifully clean and fresh hair and beard, handsomely weathered but clean face* this random Jawa: wow you really need a bath :\\\ It's like those razors commercials with women “shaving” their already perfectly smooth legs...
Look, as a viewer I know what he’s doing, but isn’t spying on your neighbor’s small child with a pair of binoculars usually considered creepy?...
*scientist meme* Finally, a non-creepy introduction of a female character with a dressing montage! And of course it was not only because she’s ten but because that’s not her at all. Lol. But nice idea to introduce her social role and her actual personality separately!
Wait what the hell, he was telling this random Jedi to abandon everything and live a normal life and now he insists that “there’s more to life” and that Luke must be trained? Genuinely surprised to see the Hypocrisy not even thirty minutes in.
*completes the rant above, presses play again* “Like you trained his father?” Laughed out loud at that.
I didn’t really think about what her name was until I started watching the episode, but. Reva. Please tell me she was named after Revan on purpose!
Will the hat guy shut up, Reva is obviously grinding her Dark Side points! This is why she is a video game protagonist and not you.
Literally what do these two losers have against her when she’s literally picking all of the darksider dialogue options. It’s like she’s only one of them who’s even heard of leveling up. How tf are they planning to advance as Sith if they aren’t threatening and attacking innocent people with zero provocation in pursuit of their personal goal?
Noo, don’t show me Alderaan, it just reminds me of the bullshit “let’s fridge an entire planet to raise the stakes” and I get mad
TV shows that make you want to reinstall KOTOR and see if the black female preset looks anything like your new blorbo
The outfits of the asshole guests slap
Wait, I don’t remember this from the OT, was C3P0 with Leia? Like out in the open the entire time? And nobody connected the dots? Holy shit why is everyone so bad at finding Anakin’s kids
Why is this cousin arguing with a kid half his size... How old is he exactly?
Leia’s childish mannerisms are pretty endearing when they’re coming from, you know, an actual child
Literally who is Obi-Wan this is a show about two girlbosses so far
Bail Organa tells Obi-Wan to stop being sexist we love to see it. Dads delivering sick burns, the episode
Wait, what happened to the Jedi guy? Did the Sith not leave?
Oh, so Lola was a Helpful Tool That Would Help Us Later.
Does Obi-Wan have a location saved on his GPS? Or does he find it through the Force like a Jedi? The JPS if you will.
See, Reva is smart! Love the ambiguity of “he fought beside her father” – does she know?
Dude why the fuck did you not only dress like a Jedi but also wear the fucking lightsaber out in the open? A single braincell please?
“Executive producer: Ewan McGregor”, huh.
Why aren’t they telling us which people out of these names I don’t know played which character?
Alright, I must admit it. This episode slapped as much as the posts suggested.
*rewinds to the youngling scene* Oh, that’s the first kid to appear on screen! In the center! Love this.
(Before you jump on this post with corrections: after writing this, I googled “are inquisitors sith” and saw very convoluted explanation that only reinforced my impression that Reva is a legit KOTOR-type Sith and the other two don’t even get it and are not nearly in the same wheelhouse. Hopefully she stabs them for standing in her way ASAP. Since people insist that Inquisitors aren’t Sith this would probably never happen but I want to see this woman recite the Sith code as she overthrows her own superior.)
#star wars#blah blah blah#kenobi series#starting to tag mostly out of spite towards everyone not tagging shit and making it ridiculously hard to find the posts i'm sure exist

I 100% called the queer baiting but nobody listened the first time I said it so I said nothing more, but here we are, bitter, spiteful, ready to throw down at a Walmart parking lot with the writers of voltron
i spent two hours literally the day before the adam announcement trashing the past few dozen episodes with a friend but had SOME hope that this season would be different and it turned out to be THE WORST ONE YET AND THE PENULTIMATE ON TOP OF THAT SO I’M JUST LIKE??? OK HOW R U GOING TO FIX THIS IN 13 EPISODES????? i’m just BIG MAD ABOUT A LOT OF THINGS
HOW DID LANCE ONCE AGAIN GET NOTHING???? i love him and allura and their friendship but THAT WAS SO ULTIMATELY ONE SIDED UNTIL THIS RANDOM REBOUND THING THEY’RE TRYING???? they never even brought up the fact that lance DIED he has so much more to offer than these half hearted “romance” arcs that can’t even be called romance bc there’s been NO build up!!!!
SPEAKING OF BUILD UP WHAT?? IS KEITH???? DOING WITH ACXA????? WHAT?????? I’M SERIOUSLY JUST?? WHAT
LIKE R U KIDDING
i’m just gonna be transparent and admit i’ve been rooting for klance from the start but that’s not at all the main reason why i’m so?? MAD??? KEITH COULD’VE LITERALLY ENDED UP WITH ALLURA OR PIDGE AND THAT WOULD’VE MADE MORE SENSE THAN THIS KACXA THING WHATEVER IT IS THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE
and this isn’t just me talking as a “klance shipper” bc i can v safely say i’m incredibly level headed n open minded abt ships in general but why was keith so RUDE to lance this season?? FOR NO REASON???? THEIR DYNAMIC IN THE FIRST 3 SEASONS WAS FLOURISHING ROMANTIC PLATONIC OR OTHERWISE AND NOW KEITH SUDDENLY CARES MORE ABT THIS ALIEN GIRL WHO WAS THEIR ENEMY ALL OF 2 SECONDS AGO JUST BC SHE SAVED THEM??? I REPEAT
WHAT
honestly i could go on but this is just raising my blood pressure lmfao the fact that we only got like 30 seconds of adam and shiro and then adam DIED??? WHAT WAS THE POINT THE WHOLE THING IS JUST ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING AND IT REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE A BETRAYAL
DID I MENTION I’M MAD

one year after episode seven
it has now been roughly a year since the famed “kiss” in yuri on ice aired live, making me literally scream and run around my apartment and beam at everybody else who interacted with me that day. i remember this bc when i drove home w my friend for thanksgiving i was explaining to her about it happening the week before, lmfao, and how i thought it was changing anime/challenging what could easily be just fujoshi bait/typical BL tropes. this also would be pivotal to the fandom: after this episode shit really blew up, and it felt like everybody was watching it all of a sudden
looking back on it now, i still can’t tell why i love(d?) yoi so much. why it still is so cemented as something to love. and when i rewatch it it seems so silly: i really got obsessed with this? this averagely drawn sports anime about figure skating w typical bishounens and reused animation? why is it so special?
when i think about the kiss, and how the 6 weeks leading up to that kiss felt, i genuinely thought yuri on ice was doing something like nothing i’d seen before. episodes 1-4 were unlike any in the rest of the series in that they were building a relationship structure integral to the rest of the plot through yuri’s eyes. we saw several things happening: yuri was deeply depressed. yuri was going home for an unknown amount of time to figure things out. yuri meets victor. victor expresses his faith in yuri. little by little, yuri expresses his distaste for himself, and has victor challenge him on the self hatred, which in turn improves his motivation for skating. one of my favorite lines from the show is in episode 4: “when i open up, he meets me where i am.” step by step, they build a routine together
these four episodes did a lot to establish character motives, as well as set us up to prepare for the rest of the skating season until the grand prix final. so naturally a climax occurred at episode 7, which was a culmination of two things: yuri’s self-defeating nature making him incredibly nervous to rise to the occasion, in this tournament that was pivotal to him winning, and victor’s insistence on making him win in the only way he knows how: threatening him with leaving (also to let us see just how new and bad he is at coaching)
so in spite of all of this, yuri does well. at that moment it truly felt like a gap had been bridged throughout all the distance in letting a: victor realize yuri isn’t a thing to toy with and is aware that his self esteem shouldn’t impact his routines, and b: yuri can take victor down a peg from being this untouchable idol in his mind. and then victor kisses him
up until this point i had been soooo skeptical of gay baiting and this falling into a BL trap and everything else that goes wrong with two men in anime having all this subconscious writing going on. and i even wrote that on the old pony8 blog LMFAO. so to me, the kiss felt like something, idk... it was proof that i wasn’t reading too much into shit, that these characters that obviously deserved each other were worth watching. and it made me believe in the narrative that much more
of course, i still hate the ending and will always hate the ending. i hate all the new risque fan art. until i see confirmation that, at the very least, they can have some kind of faith in each other that isn’t tied into skating, i will resent mitsurou kubo for writing it this way, even in spite of the whole japanese censorship of gay couples thing
but it’s just funny bc i really thought that kiss would change everything... even though it was never confirmed as one, and they might never be confirmed as in love at all

some very specific parts of the NH fandom have been especially toxic and full of bullshit lately so let me rant about one of the things they’ve said recently
apparently SP isn’t giving SS any screentime because ‘there’s nothing to give them since Sasuke is away for 10+ years’ LOL first of all it’s so funny hearing this from NH fandom considering all SP has really given NH are tbh bland domestic scenes and some nostalgia pandering (Boruto saying anyone who would take the secret scroll is a dirtbag, which wasn’t even an NH moment), not including the wedding, which SS easily could’ve had in the anime as well (if SP bothered to cash in on the moneymaking machine that is SS if they weren’t so petty and misogynistic towards Sakura just because she didn’t end up with Naruto). That leads me to my next point.
There is PLENTY of SS / SSS family that SP could’ve capitalized on and still could capitalize on. For example:
travels, like even one fucking episode would’ve been fantastic? it’s canon and would’ve been so easy to have them get into some epic battle together and then fuck in a cave or hot spring afterwards
fucking Sakura Hiden (ever wonder why Hinata didn’t get her own? it’s because there’s not much about her to elaborate on unfortunately :/)
wedding
Sarada’s birth (still possible if we get Gaiden)
Sasuke coming home to get his mission
mamasaku and Sarada bonding
post-boruto movie sasusara bonding
Sakura having a post-sex afterglow as noted in Boruto movie lmfao
SS being parents / having parent teamwork
cute scenes with Sasuke in the village again like we saw in Boruto movie
SP is sitting on a goldmine but doing nothing about it as much as they and NH fandom want to pretend otherwise. God forbid they take the spotlight away from Boruto. I mean I think SP knows a little since they recently baited with Uchiha family stuff again so. goodbye

tune in rn for ‘are we living or are we existing’ w/ seductns!! ♡
so, y’all. i promised myself that i would be more help than talk so i really refrain from this unless i get anons, but listen. this is sort of a pls wake up. p.s. ignore the title, it’s click-bait.
urban sims are taking over our tags, people. lmfao, it’s sad.
tbh a good portion of us are in college or are heading there and we’re growing out of this. speaking on behalf of myself, not only am i growing out of this but i’m losing interest because i’m just BORED. and this is really the cake of this entire post: boredom.
we wonder why rp’s die out the first day/week or why the tags are dry and the answer is really simple:
people make the same type of rps and run them the same way and we’re all bored.
we all hate those ppl that join rps and NEVER post or they stay in the cut most of the first few days. guess what: I’M THAT B*TCH :( and here’s why i and other people end up doing it:
the truth is, if those first couple hours are already dry with dry small talk etc, i lose motivation to keep things moving, especially if it’s another college or celeb rp that’s been done 1000 times bc howmanytimes.mp3. i’m not excited anymore. shitty, i know but i get disappointed and i just lose interest once i see a similar pattern happening:
small talk, club, bonfire, kickback, etc event, ig posts, pull up to event, talk, sex discussion on the dash (which idm but this can’t be the only way dashes get live c’mon), anon games (love ‘em but again), gn and repeat the next day with a dash of drama or dryness.
Y’ALL HAVE BEEN THAT PERSON DON’T EVEN JUDGE OR LIE.
like at this point are we even roleplaying or rewriting the same sh*t w/ a different face.
“you’re the problem! why don’t you join in and liven things up! why don’t you participate!”
because, hello: repetition is not fun and i’ve already been through this 10000 times. if i join an rp and what i listed above is what happens and i see it going down this road, 9x10 i will lose interest because it’s all now boring to me. especially if the plot has been done 282883 times. why i’mma stay. why. why. why. been there, done that. i’m sorry.
“if you don’t like this type of sequence/rp don’t join sh*t.”
yeah well don’t complain and blame people if the rp dies, sweety.
“why don’t you make your own rp?! talking all that sh*t!!”
don’t worry about mi.
reminder that the same people join these rps nowadays. we get bored quick. that’s the hard truth that some of you may not want to hear.
now i’m not saying to not have events (that would be absurd) or to not make college rps or w.e, (to each their own). i’m saying: at least execute them differently. do less events that are done in every rp, pleeeeeaaaaase.
rps gain 50% of interest before the rp starts. a good first two weeks sets it on pace to gain the rest.
you want people to be interested in your rp? try something that hasn’t been done a whole lot. plan before your rp starts, plan before it hits the tags, PLAN. plan to be engaged as an admin! after posting an event, queue a reminder. during the event, try to have a pt (not every single time but for the first two weeks? throw ppl in a dungeon, go all out, scam us into thinking it’ll be fun until the end of time). this isn’t much if you PLAN beforehand. plan now, be lazy later.
you’re in an rp? don’t rely on the admin for pts or to make your character act crazy. start throwing bottles, lmao. you can do anything in rp… step out of your box and HAVE FUN.
you want to come out with another college or a popular type of rp? DO IT, f*Ck my opinion. but keep in mind that those same ppl may lose interest if you don’t spice it up bc been there done that. so PLAN.
effort is a two way street. y’all know what to do if y’all want an rp you like to last.
all in all, times have changed, so pls, wake up y’all. things have changed. stop doing the !!!!same!!!! boring stuff.
also can we have more twitter rps!!
anyway, if you agree or disagree feel free to drag me but be polite or else. >:[
btw there some good rps in the tags, check them out. x
