Hello Alexandros, hope you’ve had safe travels here! And yes, I certainly have tips for starting out worshipping The Heroes! I’m really glad you’ve reached out <33

[The first and main thing to note going into this (potentially new) situation is that everyone finds their way differently. You may not like my advice or find it unsettling because of the way you experience Them or eventually turn away from this advice and that’s entirely okay. Everyone likes to have a starting point, even if it ends up being a huge no/“fuck you”, and that’s entirely okay. May your journey be comfortable here.]

So, with that out of the way, here are some tips born of my own personal experience interacting with The Myths, Them, and Lord Perseus himself!

The first and main thing, personally, to note is that They are not The Gods, nor are they any type of Immortal, so their presence might bring an entirely new dynamic to you in your Worship. Personally, Lord Perseus feels more like a Companion or Mentor Figure rather than an Authority and Godly Figure/some I hold to High Respects as one does to The Gods. It is not as though I do not respect Him--I deeply, deeply do and that is why I devote myself to Him--but it is a different sort of respect than I approach the Gods with. As I said before, my dynamic and interactions with Lord Perseus more feels like a mentoring role of Someone who is much better than me and of someone that I respect truly and utterly as a Mentor Figure to me and someone I could perhaps follow like a mentee would their mentor. This dynamic could and would be different with everyone, but just keep an open mind when approaching Them that this dynamic will be different than with The Gods.

Another thing to keep in mind with Them is that they were once mortal. I know, it's a silly thing to admit because of course they were mortal! Well, yeah,--duh--but still, keep that thought in mind as you start out your approaches to Them and maybe even do a deep mental dive into that mentality and/or put yourself in Their shoes every once in a while to center yourself and remind yourself of who They are/once were. Their mortality and Their heroics are a core part of Their beings and so keeping that in mind would truly help--at least personally--cement that respect and love for Them in your mind and center your devotion because they are not The Gods--They do not have as much magical influence on the modern world [at least as far as I am aware :)]

Now, onto actually Interacting with Them. Lord Perseus likes the companionship I bring to Him--He was a very sociable person in His youth/mortal days--and so I like to talk to Him. My devotion is my conversations with Him. But someone like Lord Odysseus would rather play some games as your devotion to Him, just as Lord Herakles might like watching you complete physical tasks as a devotion to Him (both of these are speculation because I do not work with Them, but it feels right so maybe that might be a sign??). Again, They are mortal and They like mortal things so maybe experiment on that stuff and flatter them every once in a while--because they are still human /lh--to really establish those connections in what you want with Them.

What Are Some Gifts That They Might Like? Stroke Their egos a little bit. Make sure it doesn't borderline hubris of course and especially do not equate Them with The Gods in worship because... we all know how that goes-, but flatter them. They did still earn Their rights among the Halls of Fame and They were all still awesome Heroes back then, so make sure to flatter them every once in a while (or a lot), they deserve it <33. So, really, anything that might stroke their egos like Super Shiny Rocks, Poems, talking about Them flatteringly either to the air or to someone else, etc. If you'd give it to a mentor you're kinda of scared of but really, truly and utterly respect and you still wanna give them something, then it's your best bet They'll like it too <33

Here are some things I personally do with Lord Perseus & a comparison of what I do differently with my Goddesses, Lady Aphrodite and Lady Amphitrite to kind of show you the differences I'm suggesting in both Feel of the Bond and Worship:

I like to gossip/ramble to Lord Perseus. Does He know what's going on? No. Does He still listen closely when He feels like it/is there? Yes. Is He in on this conversation right now as I'm typing it? Not particularly, He's really letting me take on the reigns but every once in a while I'll get a comment on technology which is really just an ✨Old Person Thing✨

(In comparison, I ask Lady Aphrodite very purposefully for things. I elevate my thoughts and specifically direct my energy towards Her. It's very intentional with Her, mostly because that is my relationship with Her and also because She's A Goddess™️ and I want to show Her specifically my devotion and respect towards Her. Lady Amphitrite, I am currently on a break with so I do not remember things with Her but I usually am very kind and hesitant in my approach with Her. She is a Queen and deserves that Respect. [Actually, She likes to approach Me a lot, which She is currently doing right now and guiding/insisting on this message :))]. Lord Perseus, on the other hand, I interact with casually and throw things around in my Brain for His attention :)).)

I like to write in honor of Him. In my experience, He is a more curious Deity who approaches things/my interests like a Grandpa who doesn't exactly get it but is eager to watch me and ask questions every once in a while. Yes, Lord Perseus, my writing is questionable, but you don't have a say in anything other than the book I am Dedicating to You.

[I also write in honor of my Goddesses, but like how I speak to Them, it is a lot more formally. I am presenting Them with my progress and I am getting feedback from Them but They aren't an active presence throughout it unless I am specifically asking Them/channeling Them to be :))].

And, finally, I obsess over Him. The main reason why I am devoted to Lord Perseus is because He is/was my favorite hero of them. I am fascinated by His childhood story, His slaying of Medusa, Lady Andromeda, His future legacies/family, and everything associated with Him, and so I like to internally scream my excitement of Him in my head every time I think of/approach Him. I just love Him so much <33

[I also do that to my Goddesses, but in different ways. Lady Aphrodite helps me in self care and so I make sure to put deep respect in my intent towards Her when I appreciate Her. Lady Amphitrite is just so cool and so I make sure to channel that each time I talk to Her.]

“Whoʼs crazy?” Pavitr grinned when both Gwen and Miles turned to him with a shocked expression on their faces. He had been working on his stealth skills and apparently the training was already paying off.

“Gwen is!” Miles regained his composure a little quicker. “Sheʼs telling me to tickle Hobie!” 

He yelped when Gwen hit him in the shoulder. “Duh, you were the one who said that thereʼs absolutely no way Hobie isnʼt ticklish! If youʼre so sure, why are you so scared?” 

“Iʼm not scared, I just think you should do it because you were like 'Hobie would totally not be mad at me if I tried to tickle him'!”

“I never said that! And my voice does not sound like that!” 

“Yes it does!” 

“No it doesnʼt! Stop changing the topic!”

“The topic of how youʼre gonna go and tickle Hobie?” 

“I said no! You do it!” 

“Iʼll do it.”

A beat of stunned silence, then Miles looked at him with wide eyes. “Are you serious?! Youʼre the crazy one!” 

Pavitr just shrugged. “Nah, donʼt worry about me. Like you said, thereʼs no way Hobie isnʼt ticklish. If he really wasnʼt, he wouldnʼt make a point of telling us so whenever the topic comes up.”

“Still,” Gwen chimed in from the side, “Hobieʼs stronger than you, heʼll overpower you.”

“Not if Iʼm faster.” Deciding that that was a good exit line, Pavitr used his webs to attach himself to the ceiling and then began crawling out of the living room and towards the kitchen where Hobie was busy fiddling with the stove, unaware of his impending doom.

Gwen and Miles were huddling up at the door to try and get a glimpse of what was going on. Hobie definitely noticed them, judging by the small smile tugging at his lips, but that wasnʼt a big deal. If anything they were further distracting him and while Hobie had a Spidey-sense of course, Pavitr had one too; he had a pretty good idea of when it would kick in. So when a barely noticeable flinch went through the punkʼs body, Pavitr was ready to strike.

“Pav, what the fuck!”

“Shh, just ignore me.” Pavitr wasted no time, immediately sticking his fingers under Hobie’s arms and feeling the punk stiffen. Aha. “I’m just running a test.”

“Pahav, what are you doihing- get off of me!”

“Nope.” Pavitr couldn’t help the big grin spreading across his face. That had definitely been a giggle! Determined, he stopped wiggling into his friend’s armpits and let his hands wander down the ever so slightly trembling torso. If there was a spot that made Hobie giggle, there had to be a spot that made him laugh!

Although his ribs apparently weren’t it. Pavitr felt his enthusiasm fade away slowly and by the time he had reached the sides, Hobie had already turned around, his arms crossed in front of his chest and cockily smirking down at him. “Nice try, muppet. You know I’m not ticklish.”

“Uhm… I tried my best?” Pavitr’s fingers slowly came to a stop and he gulped. Not good. He had to think fast.

Hobie cracked his knuckles. Shit. “Yeah well, your best wasn’t good enough.”

“Then maybe this will be.” It was an act of desperation, bringing his hands down and squeezing the older boy’s hips; a final attempt to maybe, somehow, distract him enough to get a bit of a head start. Safe to say Pavitr was absolutely amazed when Hobie toppled over with a squeal.

“AEEE- PAHAHAHAV!”

“Why dear friend, that’s my name. How may I help you?” Not giving the punk a chance to turn the tables on him, Pavitr continued to prod and squeeze at his hip bones, carefully guiding his head away from the cupboards when Hobie went down. “I thought you said you weren’t ticklish.”

“IHI LIHIED, I LIHIHIED! PAHAHAHAV!”

“Tsk tsk, you know lying isn’t very nice.”

Getting tired of seeing gotcha posts on Tumblr lately shitting all over vegans. They've gotten more common over the past few years...

Usually it'll be a post criticising a choice like maybe 3% of vegans actually make, or more usually an imaginary vegan they've pulled from thin air based on their own stereotypes and assumptions, followed by vibes along the lines of' "I know better, actually you don't care about sustainability or human rights at all! You're completely uneducated about (insert any topic here). Gotcha! Who's the morally superior one now, huh" Followed swiftly by the implication that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, so why try at all.

Like yeah maybe there are some young idiot vegans who think buying pleather boots is ok for the environment, but every vegan I've ever met is more likely to get a second-hand pair of leather boots at an op-shop, because it's better for the environment. Every vegan I know has cared immensely about issues with soy and quinoa, about where their food comes from, about water use and microplastics, who picks their fruit and veg, and human rights in general. More than any non-vegans I know.

So why are we still constantly berated for not doing every single other thing that non-vegans want us to do? It's starting to feel like people have a very specific idea of vegans in their heads and need an outlet for weird anger and misery and frustration, and we're an easier punching bag than the large corporations and governments who dictate the rules of our late-stage capitalist hellscape, so why not have a go?

It really feels like people are unconsciously mad with themselves that they can't do more to help the world and possibly have unexamined issues or guilt with consuming animals themselves, and feel better about themselves after telling vegans they're just not doing their activism hard enough, and that everything they buy from the grocery store is a human rights violation, so really you're just as bad as the rest of us.

Idk man I just. It really feels like a lot of whataboutism most of the time from non-vegans who have a weird, skewed view of militant white vegans, while the majority of vegans (who aren't all white, might I add) are just living their lives, trying to make the world a slightly less shitty place. We should absolutely criticise racist white vegans. Take them the fuck down. I don't think you think vegans are who you think they are, though. Vegans are from intersecting identities just like everybody else, and come from many different countries. And also there are some silly, uninformed vegans with misplaced ideas, just like there are silly, uninformed non-vegans with misplaced ideas. But if you imagine a vegan to be someone you'd hate, it's a lot easier to ridicule them to make you feel like you're right and good.

I just wish that the people who make these posts and the folks who join in and/or reblog, would take a look at themselves and think about what they themselves are doing to prevent cruelty in this world, in any shape or form. Like are you painstakingly making sure you're not buying clothes with plastic in it? Are you checking the label of every food item you buy to make sure you knew where it came from? Do you only buy your veg from local farms within 10km or only eat things from your own garden? If not, idk what to tell you, but it's probably that you should give vegans a break if you're not doing all the very things you tell us we should be doing.

It just feels like a lot of misplaced anger. Why are you so, so enraged at vegans not being perfect people when you could be going and protesting outside the farms of migrant workers, if you're so pissed about where our fruit and veg comes from? If you're mad about fruit and veg, wait till you hear of the human rights abuses in abattoirs.

When someone tells a vegan that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, it just feels like a cop-out. You're not trying so why should anyone else, right? I just think people should be allowed to try to make the world better in their own ways, and not be ridiculed for not living up to an unattainable standard set my non-vegans.

Being vegan is about doing the least harm you can, within your means. It's not an on-off switch- it's a sliding scale of effort to do less harm. It's not stupid to acknowledge unnecessary suffering and choose not to take part in what's within your means to abstain from. Some vaccines still use animal products. Some of my medication has animal product ingredients. Am I going to go off my meds and become an anti-vaxxer? No. Do I think Indigenous Peoples should stop eating the foods they have always eaten, often for tens of thousands of years before colonisation? Of fucking course not. It's possible try to unsubscribe to shitty things in this world without doing it perfectly. The whole world would be a lot better if most people consumed 70% less animal products, than 2% of the world doing veganism perfectly.

I think most non-vegans are too afraid of what they might find out if they actually research animal agriculture so they stubbornly make excuses not to bother. So that's their choice, but until you're as perfect as how you claim we should be, literally shut the fuck up and find something more productive to do with your time, like actively try to fight against the very things you think we've all somehow decided to turn a blind eye to. Because I bet the majority of people consuming whatever unethical product you've decided on aren't vegans.

Coming across one silly vegan on the internet doesn't mean you have permission now to write off the crucial need for our planet to massively reduce animal agriculture, and the possibility that you might potentially be able to opt out of it. Criticising veganism doesn't mean you've absolved yourself of any harm you yourself are doing, and also doesn't absolve you of finding ways to do less harm to people, animals, and the planet.

And if you're pissed about vegans having moral superiority, I'd really like to see non-vegans examine their own moral superiority they seem to feel they have over vegans.

EXACTLY I have been saying this for so long!! it's not gonna work and it's just gonna make everything worse. it's not a form of activism to just bully people until they conform to what you want; humans are autonomous people capable of choosing good, and like. we could be in the fandom of another band that doesn't even try, whose fans have given up on them and are just there for the music and the drama, but it's like the minute they do try to do something good they have to do activism a certain way and it almost becomes a kind of purity culture and purity culture is famously about control and not good for anyone.

but it's also people trying to be funny in the comments with thinly veiled frustrations that come out as insults about their appearance (which especially gets to me bc like. does body positivity stop if you're famous? or are they just idealised figures/bodies/personalities for us to look at and pretend our bodies don't change over time and we don't like it when they remind us that they actually do?) or their partners or how they express themselves. and it's the aura of entitlement that erodes their right to autonomy and individuality that gets me, not only because the way we get the creative music they make is them expressing that.

anyway i do think we as a fandom can do better and i want to attempt to start a conversation about that rather than trying to call people out in the comments. still thinking of how. there's a lot of people in the fandom who are struggling and exasperated with life and relate to their songs and the pressure has to come out somewhere; it ends up being in comments they feel like won't ever be seen except for by people who agree with them, at people who seem to far away and too big to ever see getting hurt by their comments. at least that's what I assume happens. but yes, they were bullying a cat

As I understand ardolphogen is pieaking when they are in this situation? And they MUST do something? Or? I was comparing two scenes exactly - Ef challenge Gary and Janusz challengeTemsen. Thank you!

I can definitely elaborate on this :D

(Under a read more because I...well...elaborated.)

So, firstly, Temsen and Gary are different people, and how they react to things are going to be different. This is true across a lot of different situations. Consider, for example, that Efnisien has been rude to Gary many times and Gary has just let him, but if Efnisien does that even slightly to Temsen, Temsen scolds him immediately!

They are different situations. Gary tolerates Efnisien's rudeness because he finds it charming/amusing and he likes that. Temsen doesn't tolerate it at all, because he believes that as a doctor and a peak alpha, he should be awarded respect from other alphas, especially young alphas who have shown a pattern of violent, abusive, disrespectful or immature behaviour (which Efnisien has!) -

This is also why Temsen tolerates Janusz' disrespect better than he does Efnisien's, because he knows it comes from a place of severe trauma. Janusz has PTSD from his experiences with Nate, and that is Hillview's fault and responsibility. Janusz is right to be angry, and his challenge comes from a genuine place of injustice.

Temsen recognises that he is culpable here, and that he has no grounds on which to scold Janusz, in other words he recognises that he's earned some disrespect on this specific issue. He can also tell that Janusz is doing it from a place of stepping into his strength to take care of Nate - that's something Temsen has asked him to do and that he wants, even if it comes from a disrespectful place (momentarily - most of what Janusz says is measured, calm, and clear - and actually not disrespectful at all - disagreeing is not disrespect). So that situation has a lot of different things happening which causes Temsen to react / not react the way he does!

Most important, no one here has any idea what Efnisien does or says to mount the challenge in the next chapter. Assuming it's solely based on what happened in this chapter is understandable! But that's not what it is. If Efnisien doesn't do what he does in the next chapter (which I'm not going to spoil), Gary's reaction would never have happened. They would have talked about Gary's uneasiness around Efnisien feeling the need to protect him, they would have gone back to normal, and they would have been fine.

Efnisien is also experiencing something new for him that he's never gone through before, and no one's really mentioned it yet. Gary had his ardolphogen rage, Efnsien also has ardolphogen in his system. He was dissociated into his rage state in that chapter, and wasn't thinking clearly, especially as he escalated his violence against Cella. We have no indication that he's left this mental/hormonal space or that it's calmed down, because he lost consciousness, and hasn't really been himself since. Alphas and anger control issues go hand in hand, the ardolphogen is not like testosterone (after all, in the omegaverse, they make both!), they can't just go 'oh huh I've been flooded with hormones, let me not do what they're telling me to do.'

And, fun fact, actually most humans can't do this past a certain point! Tell a person with PTSD to simply calmly think through their fight/flight response and stop having flashbacks, and they're going to laugh in your face, or never talk to you again. Lots of people have intense hormonal states they can't just shrug off! They must respond. It's just that the hormones and the emotions are different.

Gary has PACS, an unstable internal emotional landscape, and has been treated as a pariah by the news media, James' entire family, and has challenging mental health issues, from being casually suicidal for years after James' death and hoping that something would kill him, to being very hostile initially to making intimate connections with other people.

Gary and Temsen aren't in any way starting in the same playing field here. Temsen is happy, he's fulfilled, he's got a greater capacity for not responding to disrespect, and he also practices early intervention selectively - badly behaved alphas get scolded, usually-good-alphas who have a reason get a pass.

That being said, we've never seen anyone mount a direct challenge to Temsen, so we've never seen his response to them. No one really does it. That would be the equivalent of someone trying to pin a peak alpha to the ground, mount them physically, take a 'dominating' position over them, threaten them with physicality, or threaten to kill them in a duel etc. Obviously there's very few circumstances where this would happen and very few people would be willing to try (except for other peak alphas lol), because it's legal for peak alphas to murder anyone who attempts it, because they aren't in control of their hormonal responses when it happens.

In fact the only way to easily take advantage of a peak alpha that way is while they're sleeping or while they're too sick to fight back.

And I'll leave that as the context for the next chapter.

But, yes, when an alpha mounts a challenge to a peak alpha, physiologically they must respond. And most respond with immediate, lethal force.

Comparing what Temsen's experienced with what Gary's about to experience is like comparing apples and oranges. They're just not the same thing, and they're not comparable.
