Hard sci fi is an interesting genre cause I’m not actually sure how to define it. Defining it as purely the most plausible and “realistic” science fiction I don’t think is quite right since science and technology changes and makes old hard sci fi out of date, and also because different authors have different priorities and fields of interest, different science fiction books have breaks from plausibility and realism (books with really thought out plausible speculative aerospace engineering do not necessarily have good grasp on biology, or vice versa
