I honestly don’t know who to scream about this to so I’m here in your DM’s as an anon~ but how do you think Emmrich would react if he saw how mages are treated in the south? Harding and Emmrich go on a little camping trip to the south at some point, so it got me wondering! Especially how necromancy is viewed down there!
Hello!

In game, Emmrich does seem painfully aware of how differently he's viewed. When you speak to him for the first time in his study, he mentions wanting to "make a good impression", saying he noticed how some of the companions side-eyed Manfred or whispered about his skulls. He knows Nevarran culture is considered "weird" outside the kingdom, and he's considerate enough that he takes steps to ensure he doesn't make anyone feel uncomfortable.

I do think all Nevarrans are aware of this as well, as they tend to keep to themselves. Don't forget, they broke off from Tevinter and fought to implement their own laws and practices. For example (and I do wish Veilguard had explored this more), Tevinter basically runs on slavery, but Nevarra banned and is vehemently against slavery. They're also one of the most devout kingdoms in Thedas, hence the necromancy. In my opinion, it would've been nice if the devs had Emmrich go into detail about why Nevarrans place so much importance on the dead—and for anyone who doesn't know, it's because they believe you need to be "whole" in order to join the Maker beyond the Veil and avoid being possessed by a demon.

Cassandra goes into some detail in DAI, but as a Nevarran estranged from her own culture, her views on necromancy (and mages in general) are pretty negative. She was raised by her uncle, who was a member of the Mortalitasi, after her parents were executed, but she grew to resent him because he spent more time with the dead than with her and her brother. In addition, he kept them locked up in the Grand Necropolis, which she called a "smelly gilded cage". She admits to both Varric and Dorian that she thinks necromancy is bizarre, so she's a pretty unreliable narrator, but she also confirms that Nevarrans know how they're regarded by the rest of the world.

As for how mages are treated in the South, Emmrich seems aware of that, too. There's some party banter where he speaks to Neve about mage independence and their influence on politics, and he simply says "politicing does happen" but he's not interested in it, even in knowing that mages don't have that kind of power elsewhere. Plus, at the end of Dragon Age II, all mages throughout Thedas became apostates—and Veilguard takes place about twelve years later—so even if he came across any mage-haters while travelling with Harding, they wouldn't be able to do anything to him. He'd probably talk them down or break all their bones if they tried. 😏
Overall, I think he'd react with sass or sophistication if someone truly pressed him about his necromancy, which does happen a few times in game. He's a kind person by nature, but if he saw any actual injustices, I don't think he'd take it lying down. That said, he seems happy in his own little world, having hardly ever left Nevarra or the Grand Necropolis, though he is eager to expand his knowledge. At one point, he does say he's envious of Rook for being so worldly and experienced, but he also ends up feeling extremely homesick and wanting to go back; which makes sense since he credits the Mourn Watch for saving him and the Necropolis seems to be his safe space. He's just a peppy older man living his best life with his peppy little skeletons.

Rosie, I knew it was going to be absolute chaos after they announced Jikook enlisting together, going to be crazier after they announced AYS, but man, after they released the photobook and the behinds, it's like every single fucking vile hater of Jimin, Jungkook, and Jikookphobics ranging from tkkrs, solos, fake ot7s esp those big accounts, for some freaking reason, they can't have the basic decency to respect and acknowledge Jimin and Jungkook as individuals and their bond.
Do you know what it feels like to me? It's like they are either too into their delusions or they finally can't look the other way and explain away what jikook truly are, they can finally see what we can, but they're doing everything and saying anything just to avoid facing it.
We used to just ignore them and keep reporting and blocking, but right now, they're trying to be so loud, so whatever they're spreading becomes the "truth" to influence new fans. It fucking pisses me off. I feel so sad. These two have done everything for us, pushed themselves so hard to leave us with so much before they enlist, and this is what these people are doing?
It's frustrating, but at the same time, I know that we have people who genuinely support and love them, that they're just not active in social media. That in real life, Jikook are truly loved. Sorry for venting. It's been a crazy couple of months.
I’ve always said they see what we see, in the way we see it—and that’s the problem. That’s why they have a “salmon complex,” swimming against the current, against the obvious. At the end of the day, this fandom is inherently homophobic because, beyond the fact that many love to joke about BTS being in a poly relationship, they know it’s not like that, and that’s part of the appeal, the fetish. Jikook then breaks that idea and that “comfort” because they do seem real, and that makes people uncomfortable. I also think many people hate Jimin and Jungkook because of the success they’ve always had, and with that, they break the idea of equality that many have about the group—especially in the Solo Era. Even though each member has been successful in many ways, it’s undeniable that Jimin and Jungkook’s success has been different, and that bothers people. That’s why so many of those malicious comments include things like “the agency’s favourites” or “the chairman’s favourites,” which is ironic and wrong for so many other reasons.
But the truth is, the problem many have with Jimin and Jungkook goes beyond whether they’re a couple or not, though it’s undeniable that this seems to be the main issue. What I’ve never understood is the specific hatred they have for Jimin. That’s something I just can’t wrap my head around. I don’t know if it’s because he’s so good at everything, even—or especially—at being a good human being, that it bothers people. Is the world so messed up that they can’t stand someone being a good person? It seems so.
I think it’s undeniable that a lot will change once the guys are out of the military, and it will be… interesting to see the dynamics between all of them, especially between Jimin and Jungkook, and how the fandom reacts to that.
For now, we’ve just got to keep reporting and blocking the haters and see who gives up first—until June 2025.

Ephemeral is the episode that completely turned me against Marinette. Her solution to finding out Chat Noir's identity is to gaslight the hell out of him, when all she had to do was approach him and explain the situation like a rational person. Then the episode has the gall to act like she was right all along when she browbeats Su-Han into submission even though he was 100% right. I actually said "You're f**king disgusting!" to Marinette when I watched that scene. Does that make me a bad person?
---
Fortunately, Marinette is a fictional character and can't get her feelings hurt from us refusing to think she's a flawless queen when she manipulates and gaslights her way around her love interest and friends. And, like, that's the thing; Marinette does this stuff more than once. Getting Cat Noir to reveal his identity, gaslighting Adrien about his dad and manipulating Alya into becoming the backup Guardian. These are all people Marinette should be able to just be honest with, (because, if not them, who can she be honest with?) and when she is faced with a make or break decision in their relationships, she chooses deception over honesty.
I think disliking when such a character is being glorified as a flawless, selfless and heroic person by a piece of media aimed at preschoolers is, mostly, a morally neutral act. Like, there are genuine, good, moral values behind finding such a thing abhorrent, but we can’t exactly help many people despite how we feel about this stupid cartoon. But, also, just because we can’t help real people outside of offering support to the members of the fandom this show actually hurts with its abuse apologia, it doesn’t mean we are harming anyone either.
Being a spiteful, little hater every once in a while is a right. To claim otherwise would be to act as some kind of a thought police and none of us here better be cops. As long as we don’t hurt real people over it, keep cussing at the screen when it shows you cuss-worthy shit.

Everything wrong with the marauders fandom ── rant
Long rant about everything that I think doesn't make sense in the fandom since marauders TikTok is driving me crazy (I did not proofread this and I don't know how much sense it makes but I hope you get the point).
People in the marauders fandom ship characters and make friend groups based on tropes and the personality of the characters (e.g. Regulus being with James bc of the brother's best friend trope and because their personalities are cute together) instead of taking the characters' morals and opinions into account (e.g. James (canonically) hates Slytherins and blood supremacists, therefore he wouldn't like Regulus (romantically or platonically)). By doing this, the characters are reduced to stereotypes without morals. Everyone likes each other (the Death Eaters are friends with members of the Order) and there's no room for a plot. Why would blood supremacy exist if not a single Death Eater or member of the OOTP actually upholds their beliefs? What's the point of the Harry Potter novels if everyone is best friends with each other? (I'm not saying personality doesn't matter or that the tropes make no sense, but ignoring everything a character stands for is taking it too far).
Characters are limited to being "bad people" and not being allowed positive qualities or "good people" who don't have flaws (e.g. the Marauders being perfect (except for Peter) and Snape being irredeemable and the devil incarnate). Why is it always so black and white? You've already stripped characters of their morals and now you're also not allowing them to have both good and bad in them?
So basically friend groups and ships don't make sense, lore doesn't actually matter anymore, and talking about anything is pointless since everyone is arguing about headcanons (which can't easily be disproved, cause if you say someone's headcanon isn't realistic, they'll start talking about how "nothing is canon so it doesn't matter!!!" Which is just plain out wrong by the way).
The ideas of a good work of fiction and character analysis are ruined since no one cares about the canon things we know about characters. They are under the illusion of not having any canon information, even though there's actually quite a lot of info in the books. Character headcanons should be an expansion of said person, an elaboration of what they're like. Making random things up is not valid unless we genuinely don't know a lot about someone (e.g. Dorcas, but even in her case we still know she was against Death Eaters and blood supremacy, so saying she'd be friends with Death Eaters is a reach unless you're claiming she actually doesn't have strong morals or you think she was friends with them before they got blood supremacist beliefs).
Also please come up with better names cause what are "Slytherin skittles", "Partyvan" or even "dead gay wizards"? I'm sorry this might just be the hater in me but I cannot take this anymore. Being gay has become some kind of quirk and making every character lgbt is seen as a good fandom trait (the dead gay wizards name has been around for a while, but point still stands).
The fandom claims to be oh so inclusive because everyone is gay, yet they make Sirius a femboy because God forbid two masculine men are in a relationship. One of them has to be feminine, right? You're definitely not promoting negative stereotypes by doing that! Also Jily and other straight ships being seen as boring because "all heteros suck and only gay characters deserve a fandom!" You're literally setting us back under the false narrative of "being inclusive". You're perpetuating stereotypes (again) and you're acting like being gay is some special personality trait.
All the characters from the Marauders era are so interesting and the era has so much potential, but it's being wasted because of the fandom's poor understanding of fiction.

long post: the neck kisses playlist on joel's spotify is about jimmy (and kind of etho too a little bit)
it's not actually about jimmy it very much is not about jimmy. however I had visions when I listened to it and I know at least one person really wants me to put this into words so
"I Miss Having Sex But At Least I Don't Wanna Die Anymore" is a pretty straightforward song about Awsten Knight's post-break-up life as well as his frustrations with his fanbase.
The feelings post-break-up are described as freeing, hence the title ".. don't wanna die anymore" but the ending of the song hints at some nagging regret despite that, with the desperate repeating mantra of "but I think it's fine, it's cool"
While I don't think all of these songs signify chronology (and some I don't think are literal at all unless c!Joel has some weird daddy issue lore I'm unaware of), I do like to think the start of the playlist calls to pre-3L jimmy/joel, most specifically their relationship in x-life.
In x-life, Joel establishes a totally-not-cult religion he dubs "Jeremyism", Jimmy being his first member after he fails to trick Lizzie into joining. He later gives up his leader title, quote, "for content". Jimmy is unhappy with this development and begs Joel to stay, but Joel refuses. While their relationship in x-life would be hard to define as romantic in any sense, they were clearly fond of eachother before Joel eventually broke away.
Things get a bit hazy here since "for content" doesn't really translate to anything in-universe, but I think it's interesting to note that both the song and Joel mention an audience, specifically one that they feel the need to appease. Whether this is a metaphor or watcher lore or some secret third thing I have no idea but it sure is there 👍
In my mind, it goes like this: Jimmy and Joel meet, they hit it off, Jimmy is affectionate and Joel starts to catch feelings. Joel cuts Jimmy off for making him feel weird.
the second song in the playlist reinforces this, being a much angrier post-break-up song.
While this seems out-of-order (why does the immediate anger come after the song about life after the break-up?), I think it's interesting if you look at it from an angle of this not being fully Joel's feelings towards Jimmy, but Joel's frustration towards himself for messing it up.
with a little bit of frustration being placed on jimmy too:
pictured: joel in third life with a message from jimmy that he very much. does not answer.
personally I like to think Joel held a lot of resentment towards Jimmy in Third Life, both for homophobic reasons (i.e. you made me feel gay and now I'm gonna punish you for it) and for jealousy reasons (start of his number one scott hater arc)
this one's just in the wrong playlist first of all why does he insert this between two waterparks songs. whatever man.
anyway this song's interesting to me because it's literally just about a hot babe getting rejected by some fuck who refuses to be ball-and-chained.
there's two directions this could go imo: one is that this is, once again, evoking joel and jimmy's relationship. Joel acknowledges that he a life with Jimmy would be nice, but he refuses to settle down because it would rob him of his identity/freedom.
the other is that brandy is joel and the sailor is etho, since brandy shows an admiration for the sailor but also an awareness that he loves his job more than her
this storybook like description of how brandy saw the sailor's tales is very smalletho to me idk. very hand-in-hand with joel's child-like view of who etho is.
I don't have much for this one tbh it's pretty much just a love song and Joel really liking waterparks (king)
That being said, there's some fun imagery to play with here:
yellow = jimmy makes a lot of sense (blonde hair, canary imagery, yellow also representing people on their second life in the life series which evokes neither the assumed skillfulness of a late game green name nor the danger of a red name), as does green = joel (the green streak. shrek. yeahg. and while red joel is iconic "green like my insides" could also be read in this context as "deep down, I am safe to be around" which I think is neat)
"natural blue" is a bit harder to interpret (especially considering the original context of this being a joke about Awsten dyeing his hair) but blue is of course scott's colour. this could be read spitefully as Natural blue (was in love with jimmy first) vs scott's dyed hair or it's. joel saying that's he's gay idk man.
"at least I match your eyes" is pretty simple, with both of them having brown eyes, "jealous and hypnotized" once again alluding to some jealousy, likely towards FH again if you believe the blue line is alluding to scott.
however joel has plenty of people to be jealous of in regard to jimmy so. shrugs. hey you can even interpret this line as talking about jimmy's desirability. neat.
there's also this, which again might allude to flower husbands, implying in this fake world I've created that Joel doesn't view them as actually "married"
ok this is getting too long lmao see you guys next time i feel like writing about this stupid fucking playlist again
#random thoughts#trafficshipping#smallidarity#do i tag joel/effo if they're only mentioned like. once#nah i don't think so

Why are u a Charlie hater? Perhaps I just sympathise with him too much but I really feel as though it takes a certain type of person to get him yk?
Also this isn't me hating on your opinion or anything bc obv it's yours I just like to know details, also lmk if you're ever down to talk more in depth about the series?
i’m not a charlie hater 🤷♀️ i’m sure i have used that phrase before but i definitely mean it more like im giving off negative vibes / opinions as in im being a hater but not that i hate charlie. sorry if that makes no sense im insane. what i mean is that yes i guess im a charlie hater but that does not mean i hate charlie or dont like anything about his character or think he’s entirely irredeemable.
also, please talk to me about this series literally ANY time! it’s basically my full time job outside of my actual full time job. there is nothing i enjoy more 🥰 literally any time, any topic i am here for the in depth conversations. you just lmk and im there (also this is making me want to reread the entire like us series which is unfortunate because i am NOT supposed to do that this year)
i just relate to connor a lot more as a character and i don’t get really what there is to sympathize with charlie over. i only bring up connor because everyone is so determined to make charlie out to be another “version” of connor but they are so different to me. kbr paint charlie as SOOOOOO TORTURED but it’s like dude be for real you have a great life. and whatever mental issues he’s battling that sucks…but i do NOT sympathize with his treatment of the people around him especially his family
making disparaging comments about lily and lo’s addictions TO THE PUBLIC, calling them weak to their children, literally EVERYTHING he has EVER said to sulli (which i’ll admit is sometimes super funny but still MEAN AS HELL)…..these things can’t be excused. we don’t really know a lot about his inner workings which is why i’m excited to get into his head but i doubt anything could justify his general behavior towards the people around him. everyone has problems, no one else is a massive dick and uses the fact that they are too smart (????) that it makes their life agony to justify it
get real. charlie is a LOSERRRRRR who has no capacity for managing his feelings despite the infinite resources he could utilize to learn how to do so
also i’m cranky as hell today if it isn’t obvious but when you said “it takes a certain type of person to get him yk” i didn’t like your tone! i mean that lightheartedly 🫶🏻 i promise and i would be very interested in hearing why you DO like charlie and what you find sympathetic about his character and what i am apparently lacking in that makes me unable to do so…
before i close this out i just remembered something else that really bothers me about him is the way he has always treated moffy. you can be sympathetic to his feelings about that whole situation and their dynamic but i find it VERY hard to sympathize with his response. he is immature as hell and never once actually tried to talk to moffy or explain his frustrations and he used moffy as a sounding board for his negative feelings about SO MANY aspects of the world it wasn’t fair at all. it’s sort of the same with his behavior towards sulli like we all have family members we don’t like or problems with people but they aren’t supposed to KNOW that…how come everyone else in the world learns this lesson from childhood but charlie gets a free pass to be rude just because he’s charlie?
and again, it’s annoying because i really do think charlie is often quite funny (like when he threw that book at maximoff’s head? and farrow got so mad because moffy hadn’t slept in days? that was objectively TERRIBLE but his determination to be a menace just HAS to make you laugh i’m so sorry maximoff you did not deserve that king 💚)
#me saying i don’t see connor and charlie as the same when my fav description of charlie has always been that he’s a mix of lo and connor#but yk what idc he’s such an asshole. maybe i do hate him#it’s touch and go sometimes i kind of like him#but whatever#today i’m in a hater mood#asks#anonymous#kbr asks

Nope, this false image that's gaining traction due to people's "joking" insults, the idea that Jensen is incompetent and nothing more than a pretty face, that he's not responsible for his own career and that Danneel is the mastermind behind his success... it's getting out of hand.
I expect this from the loser extras, including but not limited to, Misha, Briana, Kim, Rich, Rob. They're desperate for fandom (heller) approval & they resent Jensen (& Jared), hate that J2 were integral to the show, unlike them. So the s*x*al harassment and digs are a two in one, get clout AND revenge. I didn't expect such behaviour from TW cast (if someone gives you your big break/starts your whole career, the least they should be able to expect is basic decency), mocking, belittling Jensen, so I was disappointed. But all things considered, seeing the behaviour that was someone was modeling for them, encouraging them into, I guess it shouldn't be surprising. I've even come to expect it from fandom people, heller and non heller alike, who are highly involved in the con circuit, since the resentment many people in this fandom have against Jensen for being everything they can't be, everything they can't have, is so blatant. Their snide "jokes" about "you're not my fave, your brother-in-law/Misha/JoJo are", "you're nothing to me, I love your wife [but I did spend thousands of dollars to be in *your* presence to tell you that]" are their bitterness manifesting, plus, the con handlers encourage it too.
But now, to see crew members from Supernatural, people who worked w/ Jensen for a decade & a half, people who had a job for 15 years because Jensen (and Jared) stayed, people who've seen his work ethic, his talent... for them to turn around and make fun of him, it's too much. And for what? To get clout by spreading this weird "joke" (frigging insult) that Danneel is the successful producer who is sustaining his career, and Jensen is just her loser husband, her puppet? Like, I'm sorry, but I'm failing to see the "humour" in such digs. I don't get it.
And what's perhaps worst of all, is that these people only get away with it because so called fans don't call it out, even defend & make such claims themselves. I get why hellers love it, no one hates Jensen more than the Misha / destiel cult. But what's everyone else's reason? You guys cry about the big, bad coven day in, day out, when such toxic environment towards Jensen, surely started by hellers, but sustained by the rest of the fandom, could do much more damage than the haters could ever even dream of doing. What happens when people outside the fandom start hearing and believing such things? Casual fans don't do a deep dig. They hear something, and they think, ah, must be true (and I don't blame them. You can't conduct a dissertation on every artist you like).
How can you call yourself a Jensen fan and then hear such pathetic insults, disguised as funny jokes, and laugh? How can you sit back and watch this disease spread like wildfire, this image of him that he's not responsible for his own career? That he's just a pretty face, a puppet Danneel is pulling by the strings, who only has a career because Danneel has her hand on the wheel? I'm not sure what people feel Jensen has done to deserve this, to have all his hard work, commitment, effort, be dismissed this way, smh, and by people who claim to be his fans, at that. Snakes in the grass, more like.
What's also interesting is that Danneel's fans never put her down to hype Jensen up. Her friends take it one step further than jokes. They seriously claim that she's the one behind Jensen's career & success, that she's the one making things happen behind the scenes. Danneel herself literally pushes this agenda that Jensen "only moves left and right, and does what it does, because I have my hands on it", because I guess it gives her an ego trip and makes her feel relevant, assuages her insecurities a bit, while all Jensen does is support her and her whims and hypes her up.
And I just-? This makes it even crazier to me that some "Jensen Ackles fans" are not only condoning these false claims being made, they're actually the ones hammering them in, trying to brainwash the rest of the fandom, bullying people into going with these stories? Let's get this clear. Jensen has a successful career, including a steady stream of excellent jobs since he was 18, coworkers (the genuine ones anyway) who only praise him, directors/writers who want to work with him again, because of HIS hard work, HIS talent, HIS work ethic. He also has Chaos Machine because he worked hard enough, gained enough trust, that higher ups were ready to take a chance on Jensen and his projects. Danneel has Chaos Machine, the Supernatural role and any other roles she might get through CM (so essentially the entirety of her career in recent history) because she's married to Jensen. Her own career independent of Jensen peaked at a recurring role as a high school mean girl, trampling on others to make herself feel special. Since then, all her relevance or "career" has been because of Jensen and Jensen's name. That's literally it. I know this is a touchy topic for some people, but if someone's responsible for the other's career and relevance, it sure as hell is not Danneel ☕ And stealing credit from Jensen and his work and slapping it next to her name isn't going to change that. If the goal is truly to hype her up, and not go put Jensen down, and one wants to prove she's a girlboss, surely she has her own accomplishments one can brag about? Credit stolen from his work shouldn't be required.
If you call yourself a Jensen fan, act like it. Protect him, instead of cackling with a-holes mocking and degrading him. Stop dismissing his work and success to prop others up. And if you can't, then drop the "Ackles fan" in your bio and start calling yourself a hater 🤷🏻♀️

Maybe I'm being overly cynical (I Do Not know these people and this is just my outsider view), but the whole 'Piastri family social media' stuff has made me uncomfortable from the start because (to me) it gives off huge 'chasing clout and followers by using my famous family member'
None of them were particularly active social media posters before, none of them had an interest in influencing or building a career from it. But, suddenly now Oscar is more popular they are posting A Lot. (For comparison, someone like Max's sister has definitely used her brother to her advantage in gaining a following and popularity, but, she also seemingly always had an interest in fashion and makeup and having a career in it + her posts are not about Max/F1 directly)
It's only going to cause headache and pain and sorry, if my brother was famous, I would not want to even remotely see people thirst trapping him or shipping him romantically with people. Why would you invite that into your space. Also, if I was on Oscar's PR team I'd be fucking worried because what happens if your mother or sister says/posts something that is controversial or actually bad. That now will have a huge audience and actually affect how people see Oscar, and he will be obligated to comment on it. And, if he doesn't, it will be to his detriment (See Max and the Piquet family)
Obviously, fans should just act fucking normally, but we all know that isn't how things work on the internet. You sometimes have to take steps yourself to avoid getting into those situations.
see i personally don't view it as them using him for clout because i think that it is at minimum a symbiotic relationship from which they both benefit. i am a long time hater of the piastri family socials, but i have disliked it because in my personal opinion oscar's family are being used as fodder for his pr.
you say they weren't really active before oscar's career in f1 but even if they are seeking to become influencers etc. which i cannot confirm or deny because i don't know them and frankly have no interest in them, the main reason imo that they did become more active was for oscar. it seems as though his pr is very much trying to portray him as a normal, down to earth relatable kind of guy. a gen z kimi raikkonen who is very calm and level headed (even if he's nothing like kimi, nor honestly is kimi like that). and it benefits oscar (and by extension his pr team) for him to have a cool mum who says funny things on twitter and cool young sisters interested in kpop etc. who aren't impressed by him. his image benefits from the "normal family guy" aesthetic.
there's a reason dts wanted to film him having breakfast with his family. his family has become a part of his media strategy. his mother goes on podcasts or whatever as part of his pr strategy. she is there to talk about him and to promote him without it seeming like promotion. you think if oscar or his team didn't want that she would still have gone on? i don't. that's not to say she's being disingenuous or inauthentic, but i'm sure someone went through roughly what media narrative they wanted to tell and how she should tell it. they are part of oscar's media strategy. they're there to make people think that he's normal and just some guy who happens to be an exceptionally talented driver.
i don't know if his family are benefitting from his fame or to what extent they may be but it's not oscar who should be worried about fan response to his family, it's them. they are being used as a proxy personality for him (and i know that sounds mean but it's not intended as criticism of oscar himself) and at some point things are going to get nasty. what happens if oscar and lando get into an actual wdc title fight at some point? what happens if the chirlies or cultLH turn on him and his fans? oscar has the protection of being a famous f1 driver. his family don't. people will send death threats to his sisters or turn up at his mum's house. they'll search through everything they've ever posted looking for a miniscule detail to cancel them over and justify their hatred and abuse.
everyone involved in this, oscar, his family, his pr team, mclaren, their pr team, needs to recognise that enabling these parasocial relationships, letting people think of oscar's mum as their friend or mum figure, letting people think it's okay to send his sister rpf as though she's their friend is not acceptable. there do need to be boundaries (frankly i think that all f1 drivers need much stricter boundaries than they currently have because some fan behaviour is worrying. people have already shown up at charles's house this is not a worst case scenario it's already happening) for the safety of everyone involved.
i do also think there's something to be said about fan culture and the increasing entitlement to a public figure's life. as fans i think we all need to be a lot more respectful of these people, whether they're famous or simply connected to someone famous. at the end of the day they are people and should be granted basic respect and privacy because they are people. we do not know them, we are not friends with them. how we feel about them should have no bearing on their lives.
but public figures personal lives are increasingly being used for promotional purposes and i think they need to recognise that they are feeding the entitlement and aggression of fans when they do that. the reason why fans get more and more demanding is because people keep offering up more of themselves and their families for promotion. and i think that needs to stop before someone gets hurt.

Absolutely no pressure if it really does make you uncomfortable to talk about but I would LOVE to hear about why dramione pisses you off... first and foremost because I'm a card-carrying dramione hater and there's nothing quite as enjoyable as a fellow hater articulating their haterade. Please. I'm handing you the mic. Go to town. (If you want!)
thank you very much for the ask, anon - and it's very sweet of you to ask whether dramione makes me sincerely uncomfortable [it doesn't, and if there's ever a day when i find harry potter shipping preferences that deep i shall face god and walk backwards into hell]. i subscribe to one belief in fandom above all others - that you can write yourself into, and out of, the most nonsensical premises if you are willing to engage with your characters in their full spectrum and if you have enough nerve. which is to say, there is almost certainly dramione out there that i would regard as interesting and well done, which feels coherent as a premise within which to situate both hermione and draco's canon selves, and which does so by being unsparing in how it deals with the whole "he thinks she's literally subhuman" thing...
but the reason i don't like dramione as a pairing is because i've never actually seen it done in a way that actually is interesting.
i'm on the record as a straightforward hater of fanon!hermione - the preternaturally perfect, incandescently beautiful "brightest witch of her age" [lupin means by this - please, i am begging you all to understand - that she's clever for a fourteen-year-old, not that she's some sort of epoch-defining intellect] who makes you wonder if we've all forgotten the early-00s flame wars over mary-sues. i am also on the record as a hater of the classic draco-in-leather-pants version of the other half of our pairing - draco is an insecure, pointy little dickhead whose jokes always flop, and he is so much more fun in this form than he is as the suavest man alive.
and, obviously, dramione is famous for being beholden to these characterisations [something, if i may, which is really letting harmony and snamione off the hook...]. and that is just so boring! even in a setting in which an author doesn't want to deal with the context of blood-supremacist prejudice - and good for them! why not! - i would much rather see fics think interestingly about how mashing draco and hermione's personalities together would actually go. how would he handle her constant need to debate things? how would she handle his fits of crippling jealousy? how would he handle her stubbornness? how would she handle his self-interestedness?
and i think something quite striking could actually come of this... as i've noted elsewhere, draco's narrative mirror is ron, who is obviously a ride-or-die hermione stan, and there is - therefore - a way set out within the arc of canon for thinking about how hermione and draco might interact. it could be a genuinely fantastic piece of enemies-to-lovers fun, but this would involve both hermione and draco's canonical characteristics being thought about [and harry and ron's: the former always seems to come around to dramione really quickly, while the latter is written as a death-eater-adjacent boor who doesn't want the woman who "belongs to him" to be happy], and i'm afraid that the vast, vast majority of dramione writing seems to have no interest in doing this when "just make him suave and her perfect" exists...
but, of course, there is a second major objection which i know many people have to dramione: that he is a member of a terrorist organisation which believes in eradicating people like her, and that he believes wholeheartedly in that organisation's beliefs.
and my feelings about this are more complicated.
because, to be frank, as someone who has - only this week - written harry having a sensual little snog with his parents' murderer, i can't really get up on my high-horse about people shipping the heroes with the villains. and, indeed, i won't - another fandom [and life!] principle i have is that the potential of redemption for everybody is one of the most important things about humanity; that even the most evil people can repent and repent sincerely; and that love is strange and unpredictable.
i do think something interesting could be done with draco having to unlearn literally everything about his life, and with both him and hermione grappling with their personal limits when it came to remorse and forgiveness as they realise that, against all the odds and no matter the heavy weight of the past, they want to make something together. but, once again, the standard move in dramione seems to be a sort of "nooo, he didn't really mean it!" or a "hermione gets over it immediately because he didn't rat them out when the snatchers caught them!" [no - he didn't rat harry out. he doesn't seem to have a problem with hermione getting tortured by bellatrix...] or a "well harry using sectumsempra means i'm over the fact he called me a mudblood" or "uwu he was sixteen". and, once again, i think it's dull!
and this, of course, brings us to the other category of dramione - the one in which she's a dirty little fucktoy for a sadistic pureblood lord. while this is at its worst in other hermione/death eater ships, we've all seen the fics: hermione is given to draco as a forced bride; hermione is given to draco as a sex slave; hermione is given to draco to be degraded etc.
i have no moral objection to people wanting to read and write this stuff, because i'm neither a cop nor a priest. my objection, once again, is that this is dull.
i think there is something really, really interesting which could be done with draco finding himself attracted to hermione despite what he's been raised to believe about her, above all for the way this could be used to play with the gendered dynamic we might expect to find when this trope is used.
discrimination is justified by societies - again and again throughout the course of history - with the claim that it protects women [and men's claim to them]. we can imagine easily that this is the same in the wizarding world because voldemort literally tells us so - in the opening chapter of deathly hallows he explicitly equates tonks' marriage to lupin as the cause of the "rot" in the black family tree, before he goes on to murder charity burbage while accusing her of supporting miscegenation.
what we see less frequently is the idea that men need to be protected from the other - societies are much more amenable to seeing men's behaviour as hypocrisy [and tolerating this] rather than moral corruption, and we can assume in the wizarding world that it would be perfectly acceptable for a pureblood man to have a muggleborn mistress or a half-blood love-child in a way it never would be for a pureblood woman.
so how does draco justify his attraction to hermione to himself? how does he keep her a secret? how does he think of women more generally, if he has a pureblood wife at home and a muggleborn woman he cheats on her with? does he see nothing contradictory about sneaking off into broom cupboards and then strutting into the slytherin common room and telling pansy parkinson that hermione is a digusting mudblood dog?
or, does he get the other side of the coin? do lucius and narcissa think he's being corrupted? is his temptation all-consuming? will he lie about hermione attacking him to save face? will he turn on the tears and place her in unimaginable danger and then feel only the slightest hint of regret?
and i just think that has so much more potential than your standard "draco's sadistic but, more importantly, he's hot" stuff.
because i will read things that are objectively baffling if they are, at least, interesting. dramione nation, i'm begging you... just be interesting.

i'm going to ramble for a minute because i am both greys anatomy's biggest fan while simultaneously being their biggest hater and i have a lot to say.
the show is terrible. i love everything up to s8 and then tap out after s11. i physically cannot watch anything after derek dies. i've watched up to s16 completely and now for the last 4 seasons have been keeping up through spoilers and clips on tiktok but i cannot will myself to keep going. and it's not because it's been renewed for s21 but because it's just so bad.
the last good season was in 2012, which is when it should have ended. the plane crash should have been the end of the series. it would have been a good year to end it. private practice ended in 2012, house md ended in 2012. those shows knew when enough was enough, and given the fact that private practice was a spin off of greys anatomy let's me know that the show runners know when enough is enough, they just don't know how to figure it out for greys.
i understand that it's one of those shows that fans are clinging to because it's a comfort show, but recycling storylines and character arcs just aren't cutting it anymore. they've killed off all of their good characters and are now trying to patch it up with characters that will never compare to previous cast members. they have no original storylines left because there's nothing left to do. and don't even get me started on the fact that they've been trying to replace derek since the moment he died. i don't even think meredith got a full season before they were throwing new love interests at her, and while yes, i liked other more love interests than other ones, there's no replacing derek. yes derek might have been a walking mcredflag but i am a derek shepherd girlie 100% and killing him off should have been the end. like if they were going to extend it past the plane crash, derek's death should have been the end.
another thing that bothers me - ellen pompeo's status on the show. she is the main character. if the main character has to step back because her brain "feels like scrambled eggs" and becoming a recurring guest star rather than in the main cast, that should be a major sign that it's over. enough is enough. you can tell in the last few seasons that she's become so monotone and robotic. she's not meredith anymore. it's obvious that she doesn't want to be there, and yet she keeps getting roped in to more episodes.
like i understand keeping the show going for the super fans who will binge the entire series and for the new watchers who started watching the newer seasons but it's to a point where seeing the announcements for another season actually angers me. bringing back old characters doesn't change how shitty the show is. did i love the beach scenes during the covid season? yes. do i love that they've brought addison back a few times recently? yes. was arizona's episode last week make me a little excited? perhaps. but it's not enough.

Okay I know you’ve been a Jiara hater from day one, I’m one of those people who rooted for it in seasons 1 and 2 and then was immediately disappointed with the execution in 3 and just completely lost interest by the end of 4. The thing that’s interesting for me is that I consider Rafe and JJ to be not entirely dissimilar characters, honestly I think they have more traits in common than they have different. But I’ve been rewatching OBX with my family and surprisingly I don’t even see the chemistry between JJ and Kiara anymore whereas I definitely still see the chemistry between her and Rafe. Idk if it’s just because I know how disappointing it all becomes in the end or maybe I’m just older idk.
I’ve been increasingly compelled by the Kiarafe dynamic throughout the seasons to the point where they are probably my biggest interest going into season 5 (especially since the writers say they’re going to explore their relationship, whatever that means) but since the actors have already established that they are incapable of playing out storylines that they don’t personally agree with for some reason I’m definitely worried that any execution would just be handled… poorly by all parties. I kind of would just prefer them to continue their intense whateverthefucktheyhavegoingon with some additional context (wtf happened during her Kook year, I feel like with all this speculation and the weird tension they’ve had since the first season it has to be SOMETHING) and just a more prominent role in the season rather than them attempting an actual relationship (even a casual one).
IDK I’ve been turning them over in my brain for days on end and I’m curious as to what you think. Why do you think the Kiarafe dynamic works while Jiara just doesn’t? What are some key differences between Rafe and JJ as characters that differentiate those dynamics? And also what do you want/expect from Kiarafe in Season 5?
(Also idgaf I’m not going on Anon I’m trying to live my Kiarafe truth)
hell yeah live your truth omg ‼️
this ask actually caused me to have an epiphany. when i watch interview clips of madison verbally denouncing kiara and rafe, my thoughts were not “wow, this actress has so much control over the depiction of her character, and she would never allow this plotline to happen! that’s a plausible thing to happen on a professional film set!” girl my thoughts were “oh fuck, it’s totally gonna happen, and they’re trying to throw us off the trail??” (i was a pretty little liars fan. does it show?)
from what we know, she didn’t want to do jjiara either. and what did we get?— a ship execution so fucking bad that even the biggest fans of it were disappointed beyond belief. all because an actress can’t do her job. it’s not even like this is about something compromising like a stunt or a sex scene— this is about being able to film cuddling, to stand within four feet of your on-screen boyfriend, to even look at him in a vulnerable moment without contempt?? bailey what are you doing
so like… why the hell would i think it’d be different with another ship? when they’ve created an environment where a cast member gets to make decisions that affect the context of the creators’ writing? it’s probably gonna be a situation where there’s tons of potential and maybe even great first drafts, but once they go to shoot and the actors decide they’re just… not gonna do that, they’re gonna do it how they want, to hell with the writers, all of that buildup will just collapse. i have a deep fear this is how s5 is gonna turn out—

(though to be fair, i actually have no worries about drew starkey himself. he’s incredible and out-acts every person he shares the screen with save for charles esten and sometimes madelyn cline? but usually he’s leagues above the others)
now, in terms of JJ versus rafe, i absolutely agree with the sentiment that they’re alike. they’re kook and pogue parallels. the abuse/neglect, the issues with addiction, the mental health struggle and feeling like you’re alone even though you’re always around people. i think the difference lies in maturity and motivations.
something i’m positive JJ fans don’t know the difference between is a fun boyfriend and a good boyfriend. they look pretty similar when you’re a teenager. i bet in the good days, JJ would be a super entertaining and doting partner… but what if things got frictious? i get the feeling JJ would use the silent treatment after an argument. he’d shove an entire saucepan in the fridge when you ask him to put away dinner. do you actually think JJ would be reliable to take care of the house/chores/children (if you’re older) when you have to go away for a few days? i know he’s a teenager now, but look at how he handles literally every conflict as though he has no future. does this really seem like someone who could mature into a responsible, communicative partner?
i’m not saying JJ is a bad person. i honestly think all my issues with him stem from things that were not his fault (namely. luke) but that doesn’t change the fact that at NO point in the show did i EVER think “wow, this boy is definitely ready to be in a romantic relationship with anyone!”
and i know it’s rich as fuck to pose rafe as “mature” but remember this is all relative. kiara isn’t exactly the epitome of full mental development. at the very least, there are glimpses of rafe having a desire to grow and change and do better. he has an evergreen motivation to be with his family and aspirations to be successful the way his father (and probably other great kook men) modeled for him. is he perfect? fuck no. he often lets his emotions get the better of him, he very frequently lashes out at the people he loves, and is pitilessly indifferent to those he doesn’t. basically up until the last two?? episodes of season 4, he was paranoid and temperamental. that said, i think now that he’s at least been neutralized, rafe has the opportunity to thrive in the coming season especially now that he has a mutual target with the pogues.
and let’s look at the narrative framing. rafe is out a fuckton of money from groff. kiara is looking to avenge the boyfriend she oh-so-dearly-loved. john b is busy with sarah and their bast— i mean baby. pope and cleo are probably working on what it means now that he’s a killer. looks like those first two are probably gonna be spending a lot of time working together while the rest are supporting but caught up in their own storylines. i’ve joked before that kiara is gonna kill someone and rafe is gonna be there to console her about it… but i’m not joking that hard. that’s an idea to take, pates if you’re readingplease—
i’ve said this before but we’re just missing so much context, especially with kiara and rafe. literally every fan of this pairing wants to know what the fuck happened in her kook year, myself included. though it is kind of sad that you (and i, now that you opened my mind) would rather it be kept vague rather than full-sent lest it fail to live up to how good s1 kiarafe was, when all we had to work with was tension you could feel and longing gazes. i guess what i want is for this show to move to hbo so we can get word-for-word recreations of some of the insane kiarafe fics i’ve read. what i expect is a crash and burn like jjiara 2.0 because it seems someone on set has already made up her mind on that pairing
#thank you for this ask you're literally the first person who's gotten me to confront why i hate jjiara so much#i hope this provides some insight. it sure did for me!#outer banks#obx#rafe cameron#kiara carrera#kiarafe#riara#no other tags... let's keep it calmmm#answered

FINALLY MY PEOPLE ARE HERE 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
I shan't say I hate Dazai, he's my pookie bear (in the way I love maggots, u know?). But tiktok genuinely kills me because they cannot FATHOM the idea that any of their favs are flawed people.
People go on and on about him slapping Atsushi during his panic attack during season 3 (?) which is not only understandable, though not acceptable, but also forgiven. Dazai is a flawed person, but so is every other member of the cast. Nobody in that show is a good person.
Media literacy death is making sure people cannot grasp moral grayness. Dazai is an 'ends justify the means' type of person, he's not a good person by any stretch of the word. He is cruel to his allies, cruel to himself as well. People think Chuuya would be a better mentor, but it's difficult to quantify 'better'. Knowing the actual author helps you understand Dazai's character. Without being able to consider how Dazai's cruelty differs from, say Yosono, you can't grasp a character. How is Dazai's mistreatment of Akutagawa different from Yosono's treatment of the soldiers. His willingness? His apathy? His violence? His age, maybe? Where does the victim end and the perpetrator begin?
People have some vision of Dazai being some monster, but he's just human. Denying his humanity brings to life his ability. Isn't his humanity what makes his actions reprehensible? How do you deny his humanity in the face of his cruelty when his humanity is exactly why he is cruel.
Signed,
meemoo 👍
Hello op!! Welcome to my blog, generally for Dazai haters, but people who like him while acknowledging his bullshit are so welcomed!
Yeah, tiktok takes are braindead. They're so dumb it actually makes my head hurt. Take them with a grain of salt.
Him slapping Atsushi is honestly not as bad of a moment as people make it to be? That slap was obviously not meant to *hurt* Atsushi, it was not done in anger or carelessly – Atsushi was having a panic attack, worse than his usual crying moments, and Dazai snapped him out of it. It was a moment Dazai used to teach him, make a point go across for his own good, the same way Fukuzawa slapped Ranpo in season 4. To me at least, neither slap held malice.
Dazai is a flawed person, and so is most of the cast – that is true op. And the pondering on why his cruelty is more easily condemned than others' piqued my interest. I did some thinking.
It is late at night right now, so I can't go in an in depth analysis, but I will say this: You are right in saying that he's just a human, and it is his humanity that makes his actions reprehensible. Let's take, for example, his treatment of Akutagawa, which would show exactly why I hate Dazai's actions more than others' in the show.
Dazai's cruelty is planned. It does not come from any sort of boyish innocence or environmental bias. Dazai is intelligent - more than even your average genius – and as a Mafia executive, intimately aware of violence. He himself said that he doesn't like pain, yet he continuously inflicted it. Anybody catch that small sentence Q said as they were on the train? "You hurt me, so now I'll take revenge," or something like that. We kinda glossed over it, didn't we? Nobody seems to remember that.
He was shown kindness by Oda - he knew how it was like to be an orphan and alone, to be found by an older mentor who cared for him, was by his side when he was lost in the dark. Even with this knowledge, when Dazai himself was faced with a lost 14 year old boy who had no reason to live, he took him in for selfish purposes (as he admitted himself). Dazai had encountered kindness, but chose to use Akutagawa for his plans. Even later, when he promises Oda to "save the orphans," he abandons the siblings he himself introduced to the Mafia. Easier to save orphans who don't know what a dangerous criminal you were, right? Then, he continues to abuse the emotional attachment he cultivated in Akutagawa for his own ends, many times, thus endangering Akutagawa's life. Correction actually: sacrificing Akutagawa's life.
That's why I, personally, fnd Dazai's cruelty worse. He is deliberately cruel when it fits his plans. Other mafia members - Chuuya, Kouyou, Akutagawa – they're not like that. They fight, and they use violence, but they do so in accordance to their job. They don't control people, they don't use people and discard them like pawns.
Mori might, but are we really using him for comparison value?

so who is going to transfer from the agency to the port mafia
okok i thoughts they are not in any way coherent but im trying my best
first i think it depends on how the ada n pm are going about choosing.. is it just mori?? do the executives have a say??? unlikely but are other members like aku or the black lizard involved?? or is the agency choosing someone to send off?? is it fukuzawas choice?????
i may be biased as a tanizaki hater but i honestly hate the theory that it's going to be him bc the black lizard said he had a useful ability for assassination. he might have interesting interactions with the rest of the pm?? him n aku bc of their dynamic in beast is so!!
i doubt its going to be yosano, dazai, or kyouka. yh sure the angst is angsting but narratively it would feel so boring. nobody in the agency would let it be yosano so she's definitely out.
kyouka has potential to be interesting (especially since she has no canon interactions with gin((besides wan ithink???) n verlaine) but it would end up defeating the point of her whole arc. like ur telling me she put in all that work to leave the pm n accept her place in the light only to go back to the pm???? i can't see verlaine being happy about her rejoining either 0_o
dazai....... -_- again i think it would make a large part of his development redundant. don't even get me started on "dazais gonna join the pm n take it down from inside" IMM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH RN/NEG SO NEG
what would be the point in anyone trying to dismantle the pm??+?!!? its not like they're an active antagonist they haven't been since the guild showed up. there's no purpose in destroying the alliance NOT TO MENTION IT WOULD BE SO MF BORING IF THAT HAPPENDED WHAT we've seen the pm as enemies already then it stopped we're done just say you want it for the angst n leave
#i will finish this later maybe#can verlaine just come back pls :(((#bsd#bungo stray dogs#bsd theories#theory#bsd dazai#dazai osamu#kyouka izumi#bsd kyouka#armed detective agency#port mafia#tanizaki junichirou#yosano akiko#bsd yosano#bsd verlaine#paul verlaine#loud sigh

Do you have any criticism towards the Magnus Family fans?
Anon, all I got is criticism, I'm a full time hater ❤️❤️
Okay unironically though, if you're looking for specifics, well my prevailing feeling about Magnetfam folks is that a lot of them feel like Batfam people who got lost. By that I mean it feels like a community built around fanlore and fan material, as opposed to actually engaging with the text itself, or if they do engage with the comics, it's often being read with those fan interpretations in mind. You see this with people making House of M to be this great AU thing that makes them a royal family, and not the deeply ableist, misogynistic, racist storyline that it is.
Equally, and I want to make it clear that there's no wrong way to get into comics, and this conversation is much more about how movie characterisations keep them from engaging with comics on their own, but a lot of them appear to have gotten into comics via the X-Men movies, and specifically via the prequel films, which offer a very warped view on Magneto, and especially one on Pietro, not that you can call that character Pietro in a meaningful way. It's in the way the focus is primarily on Magneto, with Wanda and Pietro (especially Pietro) being more accessories to him than actual characters.
Look, I hate the retcon as much as the next person, but Wanda and Pietro's mutant identities, while important, have never been a defining aspect of their characters, and you can easily make a recognisable Pietro and Wanda without making them children of Magneto. But then they wouldn't be related to the X-Men, and you can't expect us to read something that isn't the X-Men, right? It's interesting, because the bulk of the comics that discuss Wanda's mutant identity and her experience of being a Rromani mutant witch are Avengers comics, but those don't count because X isn't in the title. Pietro makes more sense to be related to the X-Men (he was in two different volumes of X-Factor after all), but even then, his character journey can never be contained to just what he does in X Books, and I feel like a lot of people ignore this because of the preoccupation with Magneto. It isn't a bad thing to have a favourite character–but it feels weird to position yourself as a fan of the whole "family" while Wanda and Pietro's relation to the family is only an nth of the total comics they've been in.
Also, I get frustrated with the blanketing of all the interesting dynamics in the family to be the same, "I choose you and I love you" relationship they seem to have now. This is going to be a controversial statement, but I don't think Lorna and Wanda should necessarily get along. I think they respect each other a great deal, but they have never grown up together in any way, and they've never enjoyed the same experience of being on the same team and building a solid dynamic like Lorna and Pietro. And that isn't a bad thing! As someone with family members I was estranged from my whole life and only met as an adult, sometimes you never gain the same level of intimacy and love that you do with people you've lived your whole life knowing, and sometimes you just don't really get on. And that's okay too! It's an awkward situation, but that's just family as a whole a lot of the time, and I would have appreciated seeing the different ways different people in those situations react to suddenly having an entire sister they never knew about. Plus, it would be an interesting spin on the norm, which is that Wanda is much more approachable and social than Pietro, but with Lorna she's suddenly the one struggling to make friends. I dunno, I just think a lot of the complexity of family dynamics gets sucked out and that's a big shame to me because one of the most interesting parts of this side of the Marvel Universe is the exploration of navigating new family as an adult, which is a difficult experience I rarely see represented in media.
Finally, and this is completely a me thing, but I don't like the way Vision and Crystal are excluded from the family. Regardless of your opinions on the healthiness of their respective relationships, objectively speaking they are incredibly important to the family as the reason why Wanda and Pietro each have children. There is no Tommy, Billy or Luna without Vision and Crystal, and it kind of shows how the emphasis really is on Magneto and Magneto alone, because everyone who doesn't have a relationship with him is excluded. As I've discussed before, Wanda objectively loves Crystal as a person, and she should be far more prominent as someone Wanda values as a sister in law than she is. Additionally, Vision and Pietro have a much closer and more mature relationship than they are depicted with in fanon, because people saw that one panel of Pietro calling Vision a watch out of context and have never read anything of them together since. Vision and Crystal ARE a part of their family, and if you can't accept that then I think you need to get into something else.
