There was a time when I had thought whatever made Lee Jae Wook play Han Tae Ho.....
And then the very first scene is him covered in blood with a knife in hand.
My man finally got the chance to stab people instead of getting stabbed, and he very obviously had to...🤣😭👌🏻🤌🏻

Roasting OI leads, Part 1: Remarried empress.
Heinrey, if you don't get your "woe is me." Ass outta here-

Fuck outta here with your "UwU, I wuv my wife." bullshit, your a grown ass man, he LITERALLY turns into her pet bird. He really thinks he's cute when he does it, thinks it's cute to have the reputation of a womanizer for no concrete reason but hey! It was actually ERGI pretending to be Heinrey so it's TOTALLY fine. Yeah, I bet those women who had no clue they were essentially being assaulted via deception were REALLY happy about the fact you weren't a real womanizer.

Mother fucker you are the emperor of a landlocked country and your goofy ass is making everyone your enemy when you don't even have direct access to an OCEAN.
Your actions are the damn REASON your wife is being hunted down, your dumbass made enemies with another important noble house, you could've ended when you imprisoned Krista (I really do believe he straight up killed her and made it look like a suicide) but no, you had to make the grand Duke essentially let his daughter get hanged because otherwise you would have went after the GRANDKIDS!
And that's not even mentioning he fed the old Duke the remains of his son!
Serves him his own son and has the audacity to act all sad and depressed when he is told that not even hell wants his wacky ass.
If it isn't being known as a tyrant, it will be you being known as a fucking idiot who ruled based on your wifes happiness as seld justification to help you sleep at night.

Yeah I'm sure the wife that was killed and the children's that got sold to slavery had a lot to do with one guy trying assassinate Navier.
This bro really acting like he such a misunderstood man who just wanted to protect his pregnant wife, while selling CHILDREN into slavery. If those kids grow up and end up as Rashtas, I better not see Navier or Heinrey complaining when they come back for revenge.
By the way? You straight up organized this with your weird ass "I like em 16 and magical" friend Ergi.

Just know that Heinrey was willing to help lead a young mother to insanity so Navier wouldn't have to face criticism. Did the writers not realize they were calling themselves out or was this left by the manhea translators who agreed that Heinrey is full of shit.

This you?

"I don't want to lie to you." And then he proceeds to hide the fact that he was stealing magic for over 100 chapters and would've kept the act up if she didn't find out for herself. "I no wanna go to war cause wuv you mah queen cute 😢" and Just like Sovieshu defending Rashta when she acts cute for him, Navier doesn't seem to really care.
Speaking of Navier.
Don't think you're safe girl!

Navier, honey, sweetie, I usually give you the benefit of the doubt since you are far from the most evil person here, but you don't get call yourself a fair Empress while condoning your husbands shit just because he's open about it.
Hell.. I don't think her description can even say she's kind to all her subjects when A: Out of all the mages who got their magic back, Evalie is the only one since she's clearly the favorite out of all the poor kids and B: She clearly doesn't give a fuck about slavery. Like this isn't just a case where she dislikes it but can't change the law, no. She outright doesn't give a shit and sees slavery as a mere afterthought.
Peep her reactions when she learns Rashta is a slave.

She. Doesn't. Care

I know you didn't think we wouldn't notice you making friends with a slave owner out of spite for the slave that got on your nerves. (Well actually almost no one noticed)

Navier, You have every right to be pissed that your husband is humiliating and verbally abusing you.
But even if you supported the confederacy with all your heart, you should still know that Rashta, as a slave, CAN'T SAY NO to the EMPEROR. Hell even if she were a commoner she couldn't say no.

This the same woman acting like it was unfair that Landre almost got executed with no trial BTW. Lande, who stabbed Rashta while she was pregnant because she spread some rumors about Duchess Leonardo Dicaprio. Sure he didn't know she was pregnant but he still attempted to kill someone, he brought that knife with him, that was premeditated.
but I guess trials for someone to be proven innocent or guilty sure don't matter when it comes to the people affiliated with your enemies.

Okay so I just finished obx season 4 and I need to give my honest opinions
So let me just start off, the ending? Awful I’m so disappointed. JJ’s death was such a stupid decision, I get that it was probably more Rudy’s choice than the writers because we know Rudy wanted to leave but.. I’m genuinely so disappointed.
JJ was a beloved character, there are so many people that watched obx FOR JJ. FOR JIARA. Obx in general was peoples comfort show, JJ was a comfort character. He brought the comedy but also angst and Jiara??? EVEYONE knows Jiara is the most loved couple, PEOPLE watch this show because of them…
They should not have killed him at all but specially not in this way. In season 3 we see JJ start finally opening up, he tells Kiara he loves her and we get some development that just made sense yk, but then in season 4 they throw all of it away.. JJ finds out his dad isn’t his biological father which don’t get me wrong- I don’t think that was a bad plot but they made JJ do all this stupid shit and then they have his father stab him to death?? Like what
JJ is such a big character and that’s all you can do??? We had no development, his death felt so forced and didn’t give him any justice.
I also wanna get back to Jiara, like I said they are THE couple of obx, but we literally got almost nothing of them.. it’s so ridiculous. Not a single kiss in part 2.. nothing, we got some cute monologues but that’s all and that is far from enough.
I’m just so disappointed. This was not the ending JJ or Jiara deserved. I also don’t wanna say anything bad about Rudy- love him but if it really was his decision (it probably was, I just don’t know for 100%) then that’s really sad. The drama behind scenes should NOT affect the show.
Obx was literally supposed to have 6 seasons- that was the original plan. 3 seasons of the gold and 3 of whatever this is now. I think why they changed it to 5 is because of Rudy leaving..
And yes I’d love to think JJ is coming back but we saw him get buried and the directors unfollowed Rudy.. as heartbreaking as it is he’s probably not coming back. This is the end of JJ’s story.
When season 4 part 1 came out I honestly thought it was amazing, better than season 3 but they really ruined it with the ending. That’s how I’m gonna end it.
When it comes to season 5, I think it’s going to be Kiara’s season and I think we might get more scenes of Rafe and Kiara. Obviously Kie will want revenge, she might kind of go into this idgaf mode and just break, maybe they’ll even kill her of in the finale? Like girlie was with the whole group, her and JJ were supposed to be endgame. I honestly have no idea what they can do with her now other than that..

I don't want a 3rd szn without Izzy. I just don't. Call me dramatic or whatever, but I'm so genuinely heartbroken by his death. I feel so betrayed. Izzy was the heart of the show, and now he's gone.
The aftermath of his death felt rushed, he wasn't buried at sea (like what the fuck, a lifelong pirate like Izzy would've wanted to be buried at sea) and the crew was just happy to get back on the revenge and set sail without their unicorn? Everyone just gets a happily ever without Izzy? Izzy died a painful death shot by a pompous asshole and for what? Some metaphor about the end of the golden age of piracy? Piss off. Closure for Ed? That could've been achieved a number of other ways. Izzy couldn't get any assurances that HE was loved? Even on his fucking deathbed? The man who protected the crew with life and limb? It doesn't feel right, and it never will. Izzy deserved so much better, and so did Con.
And worst of all, perhaps, is that Djenkins was planning on killing him all along. The whole time, while we were falling in love with the little angry man, rooting for him and rejoicing when he wore makeup in front of the crew and was vulnerable with them...he was a dead man walking.*
*I've seen ppl make rlly good points about how death was treated throughout the show and I wanted to add that context here. If I can find whose post I'm thinking of, I'll tag them
**Edit: Izzy's death was an incredible shock. EVERYONE ELSE IN THE SHOW survived their near death experiences!!! Stede got choked near to death, stabbed (twice!), and survived all of that unscathed. Ed got his head smashed in by a FUCKING CANNONBALL, pumbled by the crew and made it out with barely a scrape. Even Calico Jack could've (apparently) escaped death after being shot with a goddamn cannonball. The Swede was poisoned but was already immune to it. Wow! We (at least I felt this way), as an audience, believed that there wouldn't be any character deaths due to the overwhelming evidence we'd been given thus far. So after alllll the in show evidence that the laws of medicine or physics don't apply to ANY of the pirates, why suddenly apply it when it comes to Izzy? Hmmm??? It makes no fucking sense. It's cruel and unusual punishment. They really killed off the queer disabled elder??? Jesus christ. Did not a single person in the writer's room have a qualm about it? The optics alone are bad. But more importantly, killing off the queer disabled elder is inherently political, whether djenkins thought of it that way or not (& i dont think he did). The mere existence of queer people is inherently political in a society (the US), which wishes for our eradication. So killing off a beloved queer disabled elder, on a show which seemed to promise us queer joy and a happy ending, IS POLITICAL. it's a slap in the face and a punch through the fucking gut.
It feels doubly awful because we, as an audience, were given something we've never had before, an unapologetically queer show. One that didn't soften or censor itself for straight viewers. It was created with such love, at least it felt like, for us. So to be given that gift, and to feel recognized and seen and appreciated, only to have it snatched away...
I can only speak for myself, of course, but it's genuinely heartbreaking. I'm so utterly disappointed. I wish so badly that Con got more time with Izzy. I think Izzy means a lot to him, and he means a lot to us, too.
❤️🩹🦄❤️🩹I love you, Izzy, and I always will. Rest in peace, my little meow meow, you were and are so loved.❤️🩹🦄❤️🩹

Do you happen to how / have made a good timeline of The Shadowlands? What was there before? What it was called? When it fell? IIRC one of the writers confirmed that the rude pale elf in the list of customers banned from the pub was a reference to Astarion. IDK is that was canon or more a joke that stayed in. Having a collected resource on that would be amazing for plotting out fics!
I have no idea if the banned elf was Astarion- I've seen conflicting things on it. But for everything else:
So, the Shadow-Cursed Lands cover primarily the town of Reithwin along with Moonrise, in the Western Heartlands. Thaniel is the nature spirit of this land. (Sidenote: because nature spirits can't really leave the area they embody, and Halsin knew Thaniel as a child, this implies that Halsin grew up somewhere near here, probably in a nearby forest. Since he also mentions his family being buried in High Forest, which is quite far away, it seems likely that they moved at some point, or maybe they lived in the area for a few generations but still considered themselves to have very strong ties to High Forest.)
As for a timeline of the Shadow Curse:
1142: Halsin is born in a forest, most likely near Reithwin. Over the next years, he becomes close friends with the nature spirit Thaniel. Growing while Thaniel stays the same age drives him to decide to become a Druid, as he realized nature, his first friend, needed protecting. After his last family member passes away (Halsin being the youngest son of an ancient line of elves that faded out due to illness and accidents, according to Halsin's writer), Halsin is "turned over to the Druids," at a "comparatively young age" (per his writer).
Sometimes before 1392: Isobel Thorm, Ketheric's daughter, is born. Melodia, Isobel's mother, and Ketheric's wife, tragically passes away.
Sometime between this and 1392: Dame Aylin arrives in Reithwin. She and Isobel Thorm fall in love at first sight.
Roughly 1392: Isobel dies. In Early Access, this was at Halsin's hands, as a fight broke out due to Shar's influence, causing Isobel to attack Halsin, and him to stab her on reflex. In the full release version, this was cut, and no one seems to know exactly how or why she died. Ketheric is devastated by grief, converts to Shar worship, and gathers an army of Dark Justiciars.
Later in 1392: The Archdruid who served the Emerald Grove before Halsin gathers a group of Druids and Harpers (including Jaheira) to face them; they win, with many losses, but Ketheric uses Shar's powers to unleash the Shadow Curse as revenge. Almost all the Druids and Harpers who had survived are then killed by the curse. Halsin takes what survivors he can manage, gets back to the Emerald Grove, and is appointed the new Archdruid. Some days later, he returns to the Shadow-Cursed Lands looking for survivors, finds the Shadow-Cursed version of the previous Archdruid, and is forced to kill it. He keeps his glaive as a "reminder that victory can taste bitter" and locks it away, along with his journal from that day. (In the original, this glaive/dagger, called Sorrow, was the weapon Halsin used to kill Isobel, and had a different journal to go with it talking about his guilt.) This curse, of course, also causes the nature spirit Thaniel to be split in two. One half is trapped in the Shadowfell, while the other half stays in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, eventually becoming Oliver.
Meanwhile, Dame Aylin is kidnapped by Ketheric Thorm and locked away so he can leech her power to make himself immortal.
1392-1492: Halsin spends the next 100 years researching the curse and trying to gain Silvanus's favor to be able to break it. Almost everyone else abandons the land; Jaheira admits to doing so, and a note Halsin wrote laments that the Emerald Enclave wouldn't help even if he asked. The few people who do attempt to go there perish- a Druid from another community got some information from Halsin, tried to enter the land, and then fell to the Curse. Some lines Halsin had in Early Access indicated that his being there when the curse fell and his empathy with the suffering of the Shadow-Cursed Lands/its people were key in his ability to later break the curse.
Meanwhile, Art Cullagh, a Flaming Fist, is trapped in the Shadowfell with Thaniel. They form a very close friendship, and Thaniel repeatedly tells Art that Halsin- and only Halsin- can save him.
At some point, Ketheric converts to worshipping Myrkul in exchange for resurrecting Isobel, becomes his Chosen, and helps hatch the Absolute plot along with Gortash and the Dark Urge.
1492: Shortly before the start of canon, Halsin meets Aradin and his band of adventurers, who tell him they're looking for the Nightsong at Moonrise Towers. Seeing a chance to investigate both the Curse and the modified mindflayer tadpoles he's encountered, Halsin joins them, then is betrayed when they're attacked by goblins and Aradin promptly abandons Halsin to the goblins.
After that comes everything in canon with the Break the Shadow Curse quest and all of its sub-quests.
1493, roughly: In the 6 months after the curse is broken, Halsin (/and Tav, if applicable) repurpose what was left of Reithwin to become a new community for those needing a new start, the narrator noting that it's "hidden from those who are not welcome, open to any who need shelter." Halsin is noted to have "built a schoolhouse in a day" for all the nine wagonfuls of children who joined their community, and become an unofficial leader of the community. He says that the place is unrecognizable in a good way, with the scars rapidly becoming invisible even to those who know what happened.
Sadly, Art Cullagh passes away sometime between the curse breaking and the epilogue, but he remained close to Thaniel until the end, and it is noted that Thaniel and Oliver come to the community often to play.
I think that's everything for the parts of the Shadow-Curse story we don't directly play through in canon!
Random interesting fact that @ride-a-dromedary and I noticed: the name "Reithwin" is one letter off from "Relthwin", the Elvish word for "refuge". That may or may not be intentional.

I think I've figured out what bothers me about Izzy's death.
First of all, it serves no obvious narrative purpose, Ed and Stede stay behind to start an inn instead of getting revenge on the princeling, which makes it feel like Izzy died "for nothing".
Second, it's played, from when Izzy's shot all the way until he stumbles onto the ship, in the same manner in which the loss of his leg was treated, and we know he recovered from that one so we expected him to recover from this. There's no foreshadowing that this time might be different, no tricks that could have made us think it's more serious than previous wounds, and so it comes as an unexpected blow. I know that that's probably the point of it, of death being "unexpected" and "always striking when you least expect it", but you know what? Miss me with that bullshit. After the way Game of Thrones and Rowling have mocked fans who dared expect things like continuity and proper foreshadowing in storytelling, I'm done watching stories where the writers go against what they've foreshadowed just for the shock value. And I know that OFMD has been extremely good at storytelling so far, which is why this has disappointed me so much.
For that matter, speaking of storytelling, on this show, people have been repeatedly stabbed through the chest and strangled within an inch of their lives and shot through the leg and had their heads literally bashed in, and survived all that, and now, all of a sudden, now the show adheres to actual physics instead of operating on Vibes?
And then there's the fact that when you kill a character, you lose any potential for future character arcs and development, and Izzy still had so much potential! And now we've lost it, and for what? Again, it doesn't exactly drive Ed and Stede to do anything differently, they're still going to run an inn the way they would have if Izzy had lived.
All of that is to say that it feels like a betrayal from the show and its particular brand of storytelling to have killed Izzy in the manner that they did.
If they wanted the inn arc to go ahead, they could have had Izzy and Ed realize that they can be apart so that Izzy can keep being the pirate he wants to keep being and so Ed can retire, not... this.

When I tell you. That I dream of Luca losing his fucking mind and going off on the people that have done him wrong. Please please I beg. It might never happen with his painfully extreme people pleasing personality, but I can just imagine him reaching into his little drawer with his many memories and gathering up all the secrets and all the hidden sins of all the men that have tormented him, and collecting them all. And putting them into a book, and just. Publishing it, for everyone and their grandmothers to see. I want livelihoods ruined, reputations irreparably destroyed, I want them torn to shreds. Real Reynolds Pamphlet type stuff, but in reverse. Do you get what I’m saying? I think you get what I’m saying. I’d settle for a good of stabbing, even! If Luca could get one good revenge stab in on the King, consider my year made!
The point is, you have made a story that is so well written that I know whatever you come up with will be so much better than whatever possibilities I could conjure up and I am sending you all the good vibes from where I reside. Just know that you have ruined me, because nothing compares to this painful, wonderful story you’ve created. I don’t sleep anymore because of you.
I ruined you and stole your sleep! isn't it wonderful how the best compliments for writers are always descriptions of reader's agony? truly the most formative whump experience, and one I deeply identify with. I remember reading "Hexwood" for the first time and writhing, physically writhing, in sympathy with the main characters. I would have deeply loved to see them stab their oppressors. perhaps there will be such an opportunity in Luca's future. in the meantime, I hope the story keeps you in the best and most enjoyable state of torment <3

10 non-canon riverdale concepts, fic ideas or AUs you can't stop thinking about?
OMG anon. i love this question, i love concepts i love riffing but i'm also overwhelmed by it. ten is soooo many!! lemme dig through my gdrive fanfic graveyard for a second...and lemme put this under a cut to save some eyes.
hirarchie plots in my drafts folder:
one of those "i didn't know where else to go..." hero turns up on villain's doorstep after a trauma fics, in which archie seeks out hiram bc he thinks he's more interested in revenge than like. medical assistance or emotional support.
continued vampire AU ft archie getting properly bitten, more veronica triangulation, more shame
s3 juvie arc AU in which hiram actually visits to be so so soooo soso so nasty and sick about it all
kind of a dreamy fairy tale AU where archie is an ex-mermaid with very sharp teeth (but he already traded his voice and fins away to a different witch who skipped town in her volkswagen beetle) and hiram is a warlock and veronica is in kind of a cinderella-rapunzel situation.
a sort of inception<>rivervale fusion in which rivervale is explicitly kind of built around archie's subconscious and he keeps trying and killing and dying over and over in an attempt to create a hiram-free world where his dad might come back. narrator jughead is there trying to pick up the pieces every time archie bails out. hiram might be becoming meta-aware, or it might just be that archie can't imagine him without every advantage
fic where there's a zombie apocalypse on, and hiram has zombie archie locked in the basement at pop's. (archie pov of course)
my long slow serial wip where s5 archie goes with hiram when he's exiled and kind of rehashes teen traumas but (he thinks) without any illusions about what he's doing. reggie is there now so all i do is think about toxic reggie-on-hirarchie dynamics now. it's going medium.
10 is a LONG list anon. i went deep into the abandoned projects file and i'm still short. so. brainstorming some other stuff i think about but haven't actually made any gestures at writing bc it's not ~my brand:
s7 archie/reggie fill-ins idk if this counts as non-canon because it's more of a "missing scenes" type thing, but i really want more s7 boys-supporting-boys soft romance archie/reggie fic filling in the emotional layers and plot gaps and what-next of archie working on the mantle farm, etc
s6 reggie/kevin(/percival) i've been thinking a lot about s6 reggie/kevin(/percival). troubling. troubling! anyway even outside of the dynamics of reggie wanting to rescue kevin from mind control, i keep thinking kevin would be fascinated with reggie's puppet conscience. i think he'd try to adopt it as his own or at least share, he needs one too. i think they could get intensely psychosexual or simply sexual about the whole situation.
sex pollen. traditional sex pollen. riverdale is from one angle a comics fandom, and you can't have a comics fandom without some writer doing the needful and launching fuck-or-die chemicals at some characters sometime. percival's reggie-on-archie stabbing aggression spell already kind of had that vibe, which is probably why i think it should be archie/reggie. but i would also accept kevin/archie with a slightly different tone, kevin/jughead with a VERY different tone, etc etc etc. (and betty/cheryl. idk why them, they're not even my main f4f ship. i just think they'd wear it well.)
#hirarchie#kevarchie#keggie#hiram lodge#archie andrews#reggie mantle#kevin keller#percival pickens#and more! but not worth tagging specifically#riverdale#anon if u see this send me your ten and tell me it didn't take you 30 years of pondering and wracking your brain to get to#more top 3-5 questions please!! or else it's your fault if i lose sleep#(love u)

ROUND 1D, MATCH 1 OUT OF 8!

Causes of Death & Propaganda Under the Cut:
Laurel Lance
Cause of Death: Stabbed
Propaganda:
Her arc was NOT over— she was about to retire as a superhero and be a kickass lawyer. Also you may want to fact check this but I’ve heard the showrunner (or at least someone near the top making big decisions in that season) hated her as a character
Vanessa Carlysle
Cause of Death: Shot by gangsters hunting for her boyfriend
Propaganda:
The first movie shows that she's so freakin cool and badass and confident and caring and sexy and doesn't take shit from anybody. And she's in the second movie for a Whole Scene before she dies and it's all about them having kids. And after she dies it's like she only existed as Wade's fiancee, like no one else is mourning her, does she have any friends?? Did she have any kind of life outside of Wade???
Despite Deadpool being known for being very aware of medium and genre, the writers of Deadpool 2 showed zero awareness in killing off Vanessa Carlysle solely to motivate her boyfriend, the protagonist. This is played completely unironically - the writers themselves say it! From a Vulture article:
"[...] Then I think at some point somebody just said, ‘Y’know, Deadpool kind of works best when he’s had everything taken away from him, when he suffers.’ So the thought was maybe we can really, really engender great suffering for him by having his line of work be the thing that costs Vanessa her life."
So they made them decide to starting a family only to kill her off in the same scene 👍.
Vanessa was originally not even supposed to die, but they changed that without a thought so the male protagonist would suffer more! And of course, the WAY she dies is made to be all about him, too!
The writers were apparently surprised with all the criticism they received for this scene! Because they were not aware of the concept of fridging at all. 😐
Just because you are aware what fridging is it doesn't mean you have a carte blanche to do it??? Being self aware doesn't make it less stupid.
Deadpool is literally about subverting overused comic tropes and the writers did not know about this overused trope and executed it to a T.
Eudora Patch
Cause of Death: Shot saving her love interest's brother
Propaganda:
Her and Diego have an interesting dynamic. Exes who clearly still like each other. They had a nice mutual trust and respect which would have been nice to see grow over time
In some of the short time we see her as her own character, we see her as a mature, level headed but ultimately kind.
Not only is her death purely to motivate Diego with a revenge motive, it only motivates him for the rest of season 1. Come season 2, He has a new love interest and Eudora doesn't even get mentioned.
I don't think Klaus ever even acknowledges her sacrifice saving him and yes he now has his own dead lover to grieve because god forbid character think about more than one person at once.

@eisforeidolon I'm making a new post here, at this point it's bordering on derailment of your original post, but I do have thoughts about the comparison between John and Bobby as father figures to Dean.
It's possible that the writers intended for you to read Bobby as having become Dean's main template for a hunter, I just don't see it in the series' execution. Compare how Dean reacts to Bobby's demon deal with how he reacted to John's in season 2. When Dean realized that John had sold his soul to save him, he was furious and heartbroken. He appeared tempted by a crossroads demon's offer to swap them out.
In season 6, Dean knows that Bobby has made a deal with Crowley. I would say he assumes that their deal would've forced Crowley to return Bobby's soul at the allotted time (which would make sense), except that he evinces no surprise at Bobby's predicament when Bobby talks about it. He's only surprised that Bobby is taking time to chew him out over his lack of interest. I can't imagine Dean finding out that John was Hellbound, and then basically going ::shrug.::
Granted, I think that "Weekend at Bobby's" is a weak episode, probably the worst of season 6. All those hidden sub-clauses contradict the workings of demon deals from season 2, and "best efforts" absolutely should have already compelled Crowley to return Bobby's soul. Still, it is how season 6 goes, and it does, to me, argue against the idea that Bobby has replaced John in Dean's esteem.
It doesn't exit in isolation, either. Any of the 3 preceding episodes could've shown Dean asking about the deal, or how Bobby's been, or, y'know, saying something to demonstrate concern for Bobby's well-being. Maybe Dean is (understandably) angry at Bobby for his deception regarding Sam's return, but would that have been enough to make him flat-out quit caring about John? I can't picture it.
So while I think that Bobby does occupy a paternal role in the sense of mentoring and emotional support for Dean, he still isn't ensconced there as firmly as John was. Dean likes Bobby, sure, but does he care about him the way he did about him the way he did about John?
Seasons 8-9 drive home that Dean cares far less about Bobby's soul than he did about John's. Again, "Taxi Driver" is a dumb episode on multiple counts (especially the bribe-able reaper-- imagine stealing from the till when Death is your boss), but the show does run with the idea that Crowley stole Bobby's soul. Keep in mind that Crowley 's a free agent at this point (so, no one to punish him if he doesn't steal souls), and he isn't even getting nominal agreement from his victims. He just wanted to break the rules, so he did.
After Sam quits the Trials, when Crowley has become expendable, does Dean look for revenge? Nope. There's no "This is for my dad, you son of a bitch," or even just a stab with the demon knife. He not only keeps Crowley alive (despite Sam's questioning that decision), he teams up with him to get the Mark of Cain, just half a season later. Would that have been his call if it was John's soul Crowley had stolen?
Even in your example of "Dream a Little Dream of Me," where he tells Bobby he's like a father to him, it isn't Bobby's jacket he's wearing, or Bobby's music he's listening to. As his demon self from his vision tells him, it's John's.

acid wash jeans: what would an exceptional story featuring them be about?
For Claude, the obvious answer would be that he hires you to help him steal his soul back. Go on a dangerous heist with a guy who's supposed to just be a writer for a newspaper? It happens in some kind of au where he's a bit further in his life but still isn't a correspondent, so it can start with the assumption that he's a normal enough guy putting himself in so much danger and you should just do the heist for him, but actually he's doing alright and maybe you're the one in danger, even. I think that'd be funny.
Josephine is a newer fl character but she's also an old existing character I just threw into fl bc it kind of made sense. Soo she has a lot of backstory but hasn't done that much yet. Maybe she's already died once or twice so she needs help delivering a message to someone on the surface. Turns out she needs to get her ex* husband who thinks she's dead to come down to London so she can take revenge on him for trying to kill her?? Clearly it's impossible to do it in a proportional way, since he might just get stuck there with her after being stabbed a few times. But maybe that's revenge enough? Do either of you have the guts to like. chop this guy into pieces and burn him? Will she actually spare him and go about this in a healthy way? Seems unlikely but maybe that's fine with you. You get some extra options if you're a Nemesis player or have A Bringer of Death 1 or more where you can either have a panic attack about it all or give her some sage murder advice.
* Not officially divorced but they got married on the surface so it wasn't specified that you need to die permanently for marriage to be annulled
The tone for these is pretty straightforward horror & thriller/tragicomedy respectively.
#timeslive-inhouse#I haven't actually played any of the exceptional stories yet so I'm not 100% sure but I'm taking this as#what would a story about them where they aren't the player character be like#at some point I'd actually like to write something where I explore josie's many layers of Non-Death

bl stans are sooo much stronger than me bc if someone said something so blatantly and heinously wrong about my faves like this i’d snap. like i’m so serious this would send me straight into my joker arc
(guess you accidentally put it in twice lol rip)
I'm not gonna address any kind of defense for Not Just Kills But Murders OP, we all know that the original tweet was silly. The fastest way to spot a clown is the funny clown nose and wig, but another, more subtle way is to watch if they've ever tried to make NJKBM anything but the accidental joke that it is.
But I kinda wanna actually talk about the Fleche one a bit, because there is such a weird amount of going-to-bat for her and Randolph that's actually kinda baffling.
Fleche and Randolph are bit characters. They barely even are characters. They are devices the writers put into the story so that specifically AM and specifically Dimitri benefit from what they give, which is a solidification of the message that letting vengeance be your one driving force will lead to your end. They are completely irrelevant to all other parts of the game, with Fleche even being completely absent in half of the routes save for one mention of her name as Randolph is literally dying. She loved Randolph so much that she was willing to kill Dimitri to avenge him, but apparently not enough to kill Seteth or Claude for doing literally the same thing.
Except, hey, wait a hingly-dingly minute there, that's not right. Seteth and Claude can only potentially be the ones to kill Randolph in their respective routes, while Dimitri is literally the only one hard-confirmed to not be the one to kill Randolph. Byleth does. They kill him. But Fleche still singles out Dimitri as to one to kill him - not threaten to torture like is the case, but to kill him outright. She calls Dimitri a monster, she hates Dimitri with all she has, she'll never forgive Dimitri, while not giving a single shit about Byleth despite them being the one to kill Randolph. She doesn't give a single shit about the multitude of other people that could have potentially killed Randolph in SS or VW.
Hell, it's not even clear how she knew about Randolph's death, only that she knew that a "monster" (aka Dimitri) was in the ranks of the army in AM, so it looks like she kinda just assumes "the monster" killed her brother without having any actual knowledge on who did what. And even giving the benefit of the doubt in that "well Dimitri MADE Byleth kill Randolph so same difference," that still doesn't explain Fleche's radio silence in the other two routes this can happen in. And still doesn't actually explain why Byleth wouldn't just be lumped in the vengeance quest for, like, still being the one to actually kill her brother outright?
Because we as players aren't meant to really care that much about her - she and Randolph are given no point in the story other than showing off to Dimitri why his quest for revenge is Cringe And Not Based like he thinks it is. They are literally meant to show off why Dimitri's misguided quest for vengeance is dangerous and unfulfilling, which is why when Fleche stabs and kills Rodrigue Dimitri comes to his senses and rejects vengeance as a motivation. That is all Fleche and Randolph do.
(we ignore the "Edelgard did nothing to Dimitri" lie - because at this point they've got to just be outright lying to cope - we know it's not true and we move on from it)
They are given no focus whatsoever on any other route because it is AM where their one, singular purpose is found. Even on CF, the route where you can actually talk to them, at best Randolph is given one cutscene where he dies and makes Edelgard Sadge before she immediately gets over it and moves on never to mention or think about Randolph ever again. And Fleche does literally nothing - she just stands there for the rest of the game as a lump on a log. So seeing multiple people saying "Fleche wasn't allowed vengeance when Dimitri was!" when Dimitri literally isn't allowed vengeance and always dies should he continue to strive for it is just weird. They're, again, trying to go to bat for two bit characters that are solely meant to encapsulate the opposite of what the batters are saying lmao
#ask#anti edelgard#anti-edelgard#edelgard discourse#edelgard critical#just to be safe#and this is all ignoring that Randolph was literally trying to kill Dimitri and his men/friends first. for clout.#and how he attacked a building that housed defenseless people in it five years prior to that. for clout.#so it's literally not that fuckin' boo hoo sad that he dies because he is a giant dick who has no qualms killing/endangering innocent people#for clout.

Sasuke was 5 years old when he learned his soulmate's name.
He watched in a trance as clumsy words, as if the writer had just learned them, appeared on his left arm.
Hi! I'm Sakura!
Sasuke stared some more before he gasped in realization, he's seen this before! Itachi-nii had writing appear like this on him as well. He has said that his soulmate can write to him on his skin!
Sasuke runs around the house looking for a marker, finally stealing one from Itachi's room. Using his best penmanship he writes back.
Are you my soulmate?
Yes!
Sakura writes to Sasuke for hours, telling him how excited she is to start the ninja academy and become the best kunoichi in Konoha.
By the time Mikoto calls for dinner Sasuke thinks of telling his family that he's been talking to his soulmate. But then again, if he tells his family then Itachi-nii will want to meat her and everyone likes Itachi more.
Sasuke pulls down his sleeves to hide the writing. He wants to keep Sakura to himself for a little bit longer.
Sasuke was seven when he became the only survivor to the Uchiha massacre. He was never more grateful that he never spoke of Sakura to his family.
Sakura doesn't know he's her soul mate. When they were kids the excitement of writing to each other led to Sasuke forgetting to tell her his name.
He's never been more grateful for it now. He couldn't imagine the danger Sakura would be in if word got to Itachi that she's his soul mate. And Sasuke knew if he ever said her name and soulmate in the same sentence then Itachi would know.
Sasuke made sure to keep his distance from Sakura. It was hard. On rougher days when the nightmares would not stop Sasuke had to restrain himself from running up to Sakura and hiding her away where he could protect her. He started to wear arm coverings so he could reread every word Sakura wrote to him and not wipe it away like most do, or waste chakra bbyu having a genjutsu constantly over his arms.
He had to be content with writing to her. For her own safety no one can ever know. He was grateful that Sakura was content with just them writing to each other, choosing to have their bond be platonic, at least on her side.
The writing was their only communication after he left with Orochimaru.
I wish I could hate him
Sasuke blinked at the writing. Did Sakura mean him?
Pulling out a hidden marker Sasuke began to write.
Do you mean Sasuke?
Yes
As if a damn broke Sakura's words came flooding in down Sasuke's arm and then leg when Sakura must've run out of room on her own.
I should hate him, he left me on that damn bench. He betrayed our home all in the name of power and revenge. What's he gonna do after huh? Waltz back like nothing happened?
Sasuke winced. He knew there was a chance of never going home when he left but he knows he has to avenge his clan, no matter what it takes.
I want to hate him so badly sometimes. Maybe I wouldn't hut this badly if I hated him.
Gods, Sasuke felt like an ass. This was the last thing he ever wanted to do to Sakura, but it was necessary. He had to hurt her to protect her, and Sasuke hated every second of that night. And the worst part is Sakura will never know. She will never know how he purposely avoided looking at her that night because he knew if he did he wouldn't have left. Sasuke probably would have begged Sakura for forgiveness if he had looked at her, and Uchihas don't beg.
He doesn't deserve you Sakura
It was a stab to the heart to admit, and the knife was pushed further in when Sakura did respond.
Sometimes I wished I fell in love with you
Sasuke has felt like shit for the past few hours. And that was the nice way of putting it. His head felt like there was cotton in it, every single one of his limbs felt like it was tingling, and there was a huge bruise on the left side of his stomach. A bruise he would have definitely noticed getting based on how big it was, and like the rest of his symptoms it came out of absolutely no where.
The worst part was that Orochimaru took notice of that bruise.
“They say that soulmates with strong bonds not only can see what marks their skin, but also feel everything their soulmate does.”
Sasuke’s hand tightens on his sword. Was this all from Sakura? If so what happened to her and why the hell didn’t Naruto protect her?
Back in his room Sasuke wasted no time grabbing the marker.
What happened?
What are you talking about?
Sasuke had to hold back an annoyed growl. This was not the time for Sakura to play dumb.
The bond Sakura, I can feel what happens to you. And I have a huge bruise on my left side.
You can see where I got stabbed?
Stabbed?! Sasuke had to stop himself from rushing out of the hide out and tracking Sakura down. He left to protect her damn it! Where the hell was Naruto when she was stabbed? He would have never trusted that dobe to protect her if he knew this was going to happen.
Sakura, explain
Sakura goes onto retell her fight with Sasori of the Red Sand, a member of the Akatsuki. How he had stabbed her with a poisoned sword, but she was prepared as she had created an antidote earlier for another victim of his. She also explains how he and his partner, Deidara, had taken the Sand villages Kazekage, and extracted the One Tailed Beast from him. That was why Naruto wasn’t there during her fight, he was chasing after Deidara.
Sasuke was a mixed bag of emotions, on the one hand he was proud of her and how strong she has become. On the other hand, Sakura was in contact with the Akatsuki. What if Itachi saw her, saw Sasuke’s writing on her arms, and she became a target?
Sasuke picks up the marker again but this time he doesn’t write any words. He just draws cherry blossom on his arm, hiding within the center of the flower, where the little stigmas were, was the Uchiha fan. Sakura never noticed, but Sasuke always felt comfort in knowing it was there, even if just for a moment.
Kabuto had brought some sickly looking Ninja in. His name was Sai, and apparently he had come from Konoha.
Sasuke was going to kill him. He was finally getting some rest after that scare with Sakura almost dying. Then that bastard had to go and wake him up just to try to kill him. Sasuke doesn’t care what plans Orochimaru may have had for this bastard he was going to -
A flash of pink bursts out of the hide out, and the next thing either boy knows Sakura has her fist wrapped around Sai’s collar. Sasuke’s eyes widened; he can see the flower on her arm that he had drawn only an hour ago.
All their talks, and she had never once mentioned a mission to find Orochimaru’s hide out.
“Sakura.”
For the first time in three years, Sasuke looks into his soulmate’s eyes. He’s afraid of what she sees.
“Sasuke-kun.”
After Itachi’s death, after learning what Konoha has done to his family, Sasuke can’t bring himself to respond to Sakura’s writing. She continues to write to him, telling him of all the preparations she has done for the upcoming war, and training all the medics she can beforehand.
Every day Sasuke would read over his arm, and not respond. If he was lucky, he would find the strength to draw their flower. Sakura never pushed for him to write back, she assumed that he was busy for his own preparations. She would be half right.
“I will always love you,” Itachi said, bumping his forehead against Sasuke’s. Sasuke felt lighter, Itachi literally looked lighter as he began to glow. He gave Sasuke one last mischievous grin. “So what’s her name?”
Sasuke blinked once, but then looked down to where Itachi was pointing. His wristband had slipped, and the flower was visible. “Her name matches the flower.”
“Lady Uchiha Sakura. It has a nice ring to it,” Itachi laughed before disappearing.
They had won the war, and Sasuke left again. This time it was to seek atonement. He wanted to be better, see the world anew. He wanted to be the man that could stand at his soulmate’s side.
He poked her forehead, right on her seal, with a promise of “next time.”
Missing an arm now, Sasuke’s left leg became dedicated to the flowers he would draw for his soulmate. His right left was for conversations. They write to one another every day, with Sakura telling him how her day went and asking about his. Sasuke tells her about his travels, how the world is chaning now after the war. Sakura tells him about her work with creating a children’s mental hospital.
I’m proud of you Sakura.
You know I just realized that we’ve been talking for 14 years now and I don’t even know your name.
Sasuke blinked. Has it really been that long since Sakura first wrote on her skin? Sasuke smirked. He can’t believe it’s been this long and this is the first time she’s brought it up.
Sasuke continued with his action on knocking on Sakura’s door.
“Sasuke-kun you’re back,” Sakura greeted.
“Uchiha Sasuke. My name is Uchiha Sasuke,” Sasuke said, holding up his arm that matched the Sakura’s.

["As a child or an adolescent, you may have made attempts to run away. If you were more passive, there was escape through sleep, books, and television. Many adult survivors still read obsessively. One woman said, "I'd buy a junk novel and read it till I fell asleep, usually for a good thirty six hours at a stretch." Others spend hours in front of the TV.
If you couldn't afford to believe the abuse was really happening, you could make believe something else was going on. Sometimes children create fantasies that explore their desire for power in a powerless situation. One woman dreamed of a little house she could live in all by herself, with locks on all the doors. Another spent her childhood dreaming of revenge:
"I'd watch Perry Mason to get ideas about how to kill my father. It was really the best of times. Every day I would get a new method. However the person was murdered on Perry Mason that day, I would go to bed that night, and that's how I would kill my father. One time on Perry Mason this guy killed his wife by knocking an electric fan into the bathtub. I imagined electrocuting him like that. I remember really vividly fantasizing about putting ground glass in the meatloaf. I was the cook. I thought about stabbing him, shooting him. Every night I killed him in another way."
Many survivors continue an intense fantasy life when they grow up:
"As an adult these changed to vindication fantasies, fantasies about having power in the world, revenge fantasies. I can work myself into a state of sobbing over something in a fantasy. I love fantasies about dying and everyone regretting all the wrongs they'd ever done to me. They're just an updated version of what I did as a kid. I can be lost in fantasy for hours. It's a lot safer to work things out in my head than to change things in the world."
Yet fantasies can be the source of a rich creative life. One teenager needed to escape so badly, she believed Star Trek was real. When the series was taken off the air, she began to hear the voices of the characters in her own head and started writing her own episodes. Today she is a successful science fiction writer."]

OFMD Fic Writer Appreciation Day - The Fics!
For fic writer appreciation day, I asked OFMD fic writers to share the story they’re the most proud of -- not necessarily the one with the most hits or kudos or comments, but the one that holds a special place in their hearts.
I’ve really enjoyed making my way through all the responses and wanted to share with all of you! We’ve got fics of all lengths and ratings and fitting pretty much any mood. The list got really long so I put them behind a cut, but I do hope you’ll check these out and leave some love for the creators. (I just compiled basic info, so please mind any tags or warnings in the link.)
Also, once again, writers! Please do not be shy! Share out the stories you worked hard on, the ones you struggled with, the ones that flew out of your fingertips, the ones that have extra special personal meaning to you. Reblog your fics out the wazoo, add your stories onto this list, or just drop them into my inbox.
Thank you all for sharing your creativity with us. 💕
Prisons Of Our Own Perceptions by @chocolatepot [Mature | 22K | Ed x Stede] Ed had been interested in tracking down the so-called "Gentleman Pirate" for months. What sort of gentleman commissioned a ship and fled his life of luxury for one of bloodshed and backstabbing? And by all accounts, particularly Izzy’s, he was a terrible pirate. Completely incompetent. It made no sense … but it was compelling. And the thing was, Ed didn’t find much compelling these days. After being sold out to the Spanish, the Revenge was "rescued" by Charles Vane rather than Blackbeard - and unlike Edward, Vane doesn't see Stede as an equal. After weeks of captivity on Vane's ship, Ed and Stede meet, and something begins ...
baby, would you find that so odd? by @eluciferate [Teen | 6K | Ed x Stede] Ed shaves his beard at the reformatory and thinks he might like what he sees. even after everything is over, he's less sure that Stede does.
the earth of me by @eluciferate [2K | Mature | Ed x Stede] tfw you go to the get tied up store and you accidentally end up with a gender
the importance of outspokenness by @eluciferate [Teen | 5K | Ed x Stede, Ed x Anne Bonny x Mary Read] How Ed found herself the first time, then found her way back.
riches and wonders by @emi--rose [Explicit | 9K | Ed x Stede, Ed x Mary, Ed x Stede x Mary] Ed Teach and Mary Bonnet get along like a house on fire, as they find out when a totally reasonable attempt to drop off birthday gifts for Alma goes off the rails.
Hungry for love, ready to drown by @epersonae [Teen | 8K | Ed x Stede] Later, much later, Stede realizes he can divide his life into two parts, split by that exact moment: when by all rights he should have been dead, gut-stabbed and strung up, and instead the most beautiful man he’d ever seen strolled up to him through fire and smoke and men screaming. A re-telling of the story as Stede grapples with his (unknown even to him) feelings for one Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard.
intricate rituals by @forlorn-kumquat [Teen | 6K | Ed x Stede] a pirate's life is not one that leads to casual touches. luckily for Ed, Stede's not the typical pirate. (or: five times Stede braided Ed's hair and one time Ed returned the favor)
Clarity by @kat0nline [44K | Explicit | Ed x Stede, Mary x Doug, Jim x Oluwande] After an accident upends Stede and Ed's fragile new relationship, Ed fights to bring Stede back.
If You Were Mine to Keep by @mysterybees [53K | Explicit | Ed x Stede] Caught between the gallows and the end of an English sword, Ed accepts the Act of Grace: marry into the aristocracy, leave the English ships alone, and live to sail another day. But who in their right mind would ever agree to marry the mad devil pirate Blackbeard?
The Inked Moth by @newnewyorker93 [1K | Gen | Ed x Stede] Ed gives Stede his first tattoo.
Chasing Storms by @not-nervous-jester [167K | Mature | Ed x Stede] Blackbeard returns to The Revenge to discover that Izzy Hands is no longer on board. He navigates his grief and Stede navigates a way back to the man he loves.
The Kraken and the Lighthouse by @nyominebula [27K | Teen | Ed x Stede] Ed puts Stede in the closet until he can deal with his emotions.
all that i am led me to you by @profdanglaisstuff [16K | Teen | Ed x Stede, Mary x Doug] For ten years, Mary Allamby Bonnet has barely given any thought to her "late" husband Stede. She's been far too busy enjoying her life as his wealthy widow. Until the night that Stede appears at her door, badly wounded, in the arms of the most feared pirate in history. Until that moment Mary had never truly believed the Wanted posters that claimed Stede as a "known associate" of Blackbeard's. Yet here he is, in her home, less the legendary pirate captain than simply Stede's Ed, a man terrified of losing the love of his life. He won't, though. Not if Mary has anything to say about it. Or, Mary and Ed nurse Stede back to health and in doing so form a friendship.
Lighthouse Coffee by @profdanglaisstuff [7K | Mature | Ed x Stede] Ed Teach is the best P.I. in the business. Brilliant, observant, always two steps ahead—and completely fed up with all of it. He’s frustrated, burnt out, yearning for something different. But what? Nothing ever changes in his narrow, rigid life. He’s starting to think that nothing ever could. Until one day a new coffee shop opens up on the floor below his agency, run by a man unlike any he’s ever met before. Stede Bonnet doesn’t play by any of the rules—he doesn’t even seem to realise they exist. He fascinates Ed from the moment they meet and makes him think that maybe… maybe he might be able to have a different sort of life. The kind he’s always wanted but never thought he deserved. Now if only someone would stop trying to kill Stede long enough for that to happen.
stay the course by @sarriane [35K | Teen | Ed x Stede] Ed has been stuck in a rut since Stede left. He would like nothing more than to shut himself away, but his crew needs a captain, there’s a cat inside his cabin, and bounty hunters have begun to target pirates on the high seas. And Stede? Stede has a plan to take back the Revenge and make things right. What’s a little piracy amongst pirates?
Ace of Hearts series by @thetardigrape [28K | Explicit | Ed x Stede] Asexual Stede explores being in a physically intimate relationship with Ed, the love of his life.
The training of Izzy Hands by @elfenixnegro [33K | Explicit | Ed x Stede, Stede x Izzy, Ed x Izzy, Black Pete x Lucius, Jim x Oluwande, Izzy and Jim] Israel Hands was efficient, brutal and loyal, which got him a spot at Blackbeard’s side. But Blackbeard is dead now, only Edward Teach remains, a man who has no use for a brutal masochistic first mate. But chance it has it that maybe Stede Bonnet who killed Blackbeard could give purpose to the broken Izzy Hands.
Chains of Love by @three--rings [26K | Explicit | Ed x Stede] When Blackbeard learns Stede Bonnet isn't dead, but is instead being sold as a prisoner, he rushes to buy him. He thinks that this may be the perfect opportunity to show Bonnet that you don't fuck with Edward Teach. Stede, on the other hand, just sees this as a perfect opportunity to explain himself. After all, he knows where he belongs now, and it's by Ed's side, even when Ed is...not quite the same man he left behind.
The Merry Strays of Lighthouse Sanctuary by @xoxoemynn [3K | Gen | Ed x Stede] An AU where Stede Bonnet owns a rather unusual animal shelter that prides itself on always being able to find the perfect match for anyone seeking a companion, and Edward Teach has decided he's in need of a pet.

At the same time, the new live action was kind of bad.
#I was so disappointed./#I told myself that if I could get myself through this week; i could watch it#at one point i was sitting there like 'oh hey i recall this scene. remember when it was written to depict roy's quest against the homunculi#as a sort of sliding scale of roy's need for justice vs his thirst for revenge? remember when the narrative was able to carry it#successfully because it had more than five characters to work with? remember who got fucking stabbed through the spine to drive that arc#forward? BECAUSE I FUCKING DO.'#there was some thing with ed and shou trying to compare their willingness to make sacrifices to get the job done but it honestly got lost#under a. ed not making any actual sacrifices on screen in this version until the very end (and it lacked the impact because ed did something#wildly different in the manga and the story justified it) and b. the absolute dogpile of villains that we got near the end.#ngl i would have been wildly impressed with shou being our one bad guy; once again; because it felt like the story was going to contrast his#choices in sacrifices with ed's choice in sacrifices; not only that; but he also didn't really give us a reason as to why he was doing it#other than 'For Science!' (to me; a bad guy not willing to reveal their motive is a little freaky tbh; but in a way that works). maybe the#writers could have gone with that; made some shadowy reference to the homunculi pulling the strings; and then ended; but it had to be#shou showing up and then the homunculi and then...general hakuro from the train arc for whatever fucking reason.#and then i guess that gluttony pissed off to the middle of nowhere. i guess its just him and the gaping unholy hellmouth in the middle of#his stomach all alone in the world (and such a shame that we didn't get to see more of that in here tbh. ;-;)#at the end of the fucking day; however; i did get fetus envy; and no one human being on the fucking planet can take that from me.#fma spoilers/#headlife
