And you get a little headcanon/concept

At some point during their friendship, way before Port Townsend, Charles mentioned the tradition of wearing gold at weddings. He did so in a sad sort of way, as he had seen the pictures from his parents wedding, and knew her mum had not been allowed to wear a lehenga nor many gold accessories.

Maybe, as these things are meant to bring happiness to the couple, he mentions that as a child he believed his parents marriage would have been happier if she wore those things.

Edwin starts to collect gold items. He doesn't analyze the reason, but if a case offers gold as payment? Edwin is taking it. Charles thinks nothing of it, it's just one of Edwin's quirks.

After his revelations in Port Townsend, Edwin will eventually realize a few things regarding his gold rush.

And they will have a lot of gold jewlery for their wedding day!

Growing up I really loved fashion, but it would SERIOUSLY bother me whenever the bride wore anything other than a white dress, because in my mind there was no reason to get married other than wearing a wedding dress... and it STILL took me years to realize I was aro/ace 😅

Thinking about trans men who still treasure their wedding photos, where they're wearing the big white dress from before they realized they were trans, and still feel only love and happiness looking at them, because of what the day and the dress meant in the moment, rather than discomfort or dysphoria.

And I cannot decide on a perfect character to apply this to because it's such a specific relationship to one's gender, but. Anakin is usually a decent bet.

anyway i spent too much time reading offbe/at wedding and now i’m involuntarily scripting out my online cancellation in a universe where i for some reason send in our wedding to them to profile but get called out for asking them not to refer to it or us as “queer” anywhere in the article

#i just don’t like that term very much. i intuitively feel that if considering oneself queer but not gay is permissible the inverse should #be as well. but as we know that is not the current state of the art.#box opener #offbeat wedding content is a beautiful 50/50 split of things i can theoretically appreciate but don’t want #and things i would find so painfully awkward to be near that i can’t finish the article.#which is real reading catnip.#for me. a hater of varied tastes and long standing.#however one of my objections was that having your ‘subtle’ lord of the rings touch be ‘one dessert to rule them all’#as a sign on the catering table #is terrible and makes no sense. because first of all it’s not even slightly subtle #but second of all. why would desserts be the one ring. are they scarce and a major cause of conflict? do they corrupt your ability #to feel a full range of emotions and empathy? are they possessed???#i just don’t think they thought it through.
