“Today, we will be discussing werewolves. Can anyone tell me what werewolves are?”
Lily Evans’ hand instantly shot up. “They are XXXXX-classified beasts in The Ministry of Magic. A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope, is a creature which normally resembles a human being but, upon the rising of the full moon, became an uncontrollable wolf.”
He wasn’t going to be listening to that, knowing that Peter and James were in the hospital wing, waiting for Remus to wake up.
Sirius’ hand, instinctively, shot up. “First of all, they should only be classified under the full moon, because during every other day of the month, they’re human. Second of all, The Ministry doesn’t know jackshit—”
“Mr. Black!”
“And they do not resemble a human being, because they are one. Third of all, lycanthropy is an infection, not something you’re born with.”
“Never said it is,” Evans said, turning her head to face him with a smile, but he could almost feel her teeth gritting, “but if you were to look in The Prophet at the attacks, there’s a few of them of werewolves, right?”
“That’s a generalisation, Evans. There are werewolves who live in the wilderness and werewolves who live among humans. And the werewolves who live on the outskirts of society were driven away by wix, who pointed at them and called them beasts and monsters.”
“Why so invested in the topic, Black? Are you a werewolf?” Snape drawled, barely looking up from his paper.
“Yeah,” Sirius replied, barely sparing him a glance, “next time you piss me off, I’ll come to the dorms and maul you in your sleep.”
Snape settled on scoffing at him and turning back to talking to his “mate.” Sirius focused his attention back on Lily.
“And let’s not forget the werewolf registry, who is cruel and, frankly, idiotic by itself. Who expects werewolves to go sign themselves up to be locked up? That must be one of the least thoughtful things they’ve done, which says a lot, all things considered. Nobody’s gonna go sign themselves up for something like that.”
“It would be a protection method. They’re safe—”
“They’re not exactly fucking comfortable, though, are they?”
“Mr. Black!”
“Well, no,” Evans replied, sounding slightly irritated. “Obviously not. But it would be better for those around them, too. Would you like to be ripped to shreds?”
“Mrs. Evans!”
“No, I would not, and no, it would not be, because it’s uncomfortable and the transformation is horrible enough as is. Maybe, for one, we should think about,” He air-quoted, “the lower creatures, and try finding options that benefit them especially, more than us. They’ve got as many rights as we have.”
The bell rang; a class dismissed.
“Meet me after class, Mr. Black.”
“Gladly, Professor.”
“Black! One second!” Evans said, as Sirius started packing his bags. He grinned to himself; bingo.

I was re-reading POA and was surprised about how open Harry is with Lupin. There are a couple instances of him not wanting to say something because he thinks it’s shameful/embarrassing but then he can’t help himself from opening up to lupin anyway. It reminds me a lot of how he acts with Sirius in GOF and OOTP. But I also think he stopped sharing his feelings with lupin after POA because of the distance that lupin was trying to put between them. It always seems like lupin wants to connect with Harry but won’t let himself because of all the stuff he has going on with himself (him reaching out to put his hand on his shoulder but thinking better of it is a pretty good example). It’s kinda a shame though, it would have been nice if Lupin allowed himself to be closer to Harry because their relationship could have been another place where Harry could be open and confide in another person with.
Yeah, I talked a bit about their dynamic here, but in PoA, Harry found an adult who he likes, and the adult likes him and respects him and he's trying so hard to latch onto that one positive connection and get closer to Lupin. Lupin is like, the first teacher Harry actually looked up to.
I mean, Dumbledore is more of a distant figure at first and Harry's feelings about him are complicated later on. Harry treats Hagrid more like his peer than like his elder. He respects McGonagall immensely, but she always had a more distant and professional air to her.
Remus, on the other hand, already saved Harry from dementors on the train (so he's competent), he clearly likes Harry and he calls all the students by their first names. Lupin is the cool and hip teacher who wants all the kids to like him so he comes up with cool lesson plans and falls behind on the curriculum (according to Snape).
Remus' behavior encourages Harry to look up to and open up to him. Harry never had an adult he could really count on and felt close to. He loves Arthur and Molly, but he doesn't feel like they're his family. Also, he doesn't really register them as competent wizards. But Remus — Remus is everything Harry wants from an adult mentor figure.
It's why Harry keeps going out of his way to talk to him. To convince him to teach him the Patronus Charm. And Remus, well, Remus, as always, is conflicted.
Remus can't have good things in his life. He thinks he doesn't deserve good things in his life. He thinks he is awful and ruins the lives of everyone he is close to just by being there.
I think he really likes Harry. I think he sees Harry as his own person, who isn't James or Lily, and who is talented and capable and brave. But Remus thinks he isn't worthy of being associated with Harry. He thinks Harry must be happier however he is living now, and anyway, he's a werewolf, he couldn't offer Harry anything better (that's what he thinks). It's why he doesn't even offer to take Harry with him, why he never writes to Harry. He twists himself in guilt and shame so he thinks everyone is better off without him which is his go-to excuse on why he shouldn't be responsible for things/people.
And Harry isn't stupid, he can tell when someone doesn't want to talk to him (which Remus is very much acting like), so he stops. It also helps that at the end of PoA, Sirius appears, and Sirius is everything Remus is (capable, likes Harry, cool, very un-Dursley) but more — because he wants Harry to come live with him. He wants Harry to write to him and talk to him. He wants to tell Harry about James and Lily. Sirius comes in after a year in which Harry got the first positive adult role-model (Remus) and then, just, improved the formula by wanting to be there for Harry and not struggling to keep up the distance like Lupin was doing.
As such, post-PoA, we see Harry have the same openness (and even more so) with Sirius. Harry stops talking to Remus because Remus didn't talk to him. I think he felt a little betrayed that Remus didn't tell him he was friends with James throughout the whole year, too. Like, I think it's reasonable that Harry somewhat gave up on Lupin post-PoA. Remus is the one who gave up on a connection with Harry first.
Could their relationship have been better and a source of comfort to Harry? Definitely. But Remus is doing what he always does. What he tried to do with Tonks (even after he got her pregnant) — he forces himself not to get attached and runs away.

Marauders reactions to The Prank
(I was asked for my thoughts, so here you are! I’m basing this off canon, not the more fanon based characterisation of the marauders, especially Remus!)
Remus
Angry at Snape for being a dick and trying to expose his secret, to get him expelled (or worse?!) and his friends in huge trouble too.
Can’t express his anger at Snape because the git now knows his secret and could expose him, which is a terrible situation to find yourself - beholden to your enemy who may ruin your life on a whim (even more aggravating that Remus wasn’t even the one antagonising Snape - that was James & Sirius - and I mean it was mutual, not one sided - it was Marauders versus Snape & the Mini Death Eaters: yes Snape canonically HAD friends who were into the dark arts etc etc; v unlikely Remus got involved as he was too busy trying to blend in and avoid getting into trouble - canonically he was the good boy who “got the badge” - and trying hard to avoid being noticed as a dark creature himself - his words not mine)
Realises Dumbledore has somehow managed to get Snape to keep his mouth shut (why? Who knows: in case he’d be in trouble for allowing a werewolf into Hogwarts, or to make Remus even more beholden to the Headmaster, turn him into Dumbledore’s man, through and through? How? He probably knew Snape’s dirty little secrets, his proclivity for the dark arts, details about illegal unsavoury company - blackmail). This over time eases his worry.
Sirius - he’s very hurt unimpressed with Sirius for telling Snape how to get past the Willow. He gets that, as James put it, only a complete fool would try to get into a shack with a werewolf on a full moon, but turns out Snape is that stupid/that vengeful (take your pick). His way of dealing with this hurt is to stop hanging out with the others. I headcanon this happened quite close to summer holidays (actually think that’s canon), so he goes home and ignores all owls/letters from the marauders. I think Lily does write to him and that’s where the film line “your mother was there for me at a time when bla bla” originates from.
He manages this avoidance as a favourite coping strategy (he does this a lot - for example he avoids trying to find Harry for years due to his stupid ideas about himself being too poor too dangerous yada yada; he avoids telling Dumbledore Sirius is an Animagus because *insert your pick: his “pathetic” love of Sirius/ his promise to never reveal their secret etc*; he avoids trying to keep in touch with Harry after he is sacked from his post as professor (thanks Snape); he avoids dealing with the scariness of being a werewolf dad in the middle of a war by running away from his responsibilities; he tells Harry he “always managed to forget my guilty feelings” when planning another escapade with his friends in the Forbidden Forest or town for the next full moon etc etc, you get me?)
That’s not to say when he comes to the next morning and finds out what happened, he might not in the heat of the moment let the mask slip for a second and scream his hurt at Sirius or even punch him once - his very careful/ always in control/mild mannered persona disappearing momentarily when he’s emotionally dysregulated after such a stressful event. But it’s back in place quickly.
He refuses to respond to James’ attempts to contact him that summer because he’s frankly sick of James having everything/being the Golden Boy (saving Snape from the evil monster aka Remus J Lupin; being great at everything you could imagine - sports, academics, flirting - omg he’s useless but Remus doesn’t see it because he thinks James is wonderful). It’s small-minded and pathetic and unfair and petty and embarrassing and horrible - his words - but he can’t help it.
He refuses to talk to Peter that summer too cause that’d be unfair to him - it would put him in the unenviable position of choosing between him and the other two. Because of course James will always choose Sirius… Peter doesn’t try to contact him though, so that’s easy enough.
He eventually makes up with James when they are back in school because James is impossible to ignore when he’s on a mission and impossible to stay angry at (obviously Peter immediately follows) and then lastly Sirius. Details in canon fics…
Afterwards? Well, if James and the others can call his horrific lycanthropy a “furry little problem”, he can refer to that horrible incident as a silly little prank, can’t he? It’s nothing. It didn’t really bother him. It’s totally fine. It was funny actually. No, really. Ha ha ha ha. Can we stop talking about it now, please?
[My version of the prank and the canon marauders story afterwards including Halloween 1981 and what actually happened, in case anyone is interested]

Do you think there’s any situation in which Sirius/Snape could work as a ship if James Potter was alive/around?
I love both Sirius/Snape and Sirius/James (platonic, romantic and everything in between) as ships so I’d love to see a universe in which the 3 of them have a lovely time together but I dunno if I can picture it. I can mainly see Sirius/Snape working with James and Lily dead and Sirius post Azkaban because it really brings him off his pedestal and leaves that shared grief and longing for that intensity of companionship.
I guess part of the problem is trying to imagine Sirius being able to even remotely care about or prioritise someone else with James in the picture, even if James is only giving platonic on his end. But then doubly so if that person was someone James had a massive rivalry with and doesn’t want near his wife. (Although if he knew Snape wasn’t interested in Lily like that maybe he’d chill out about it? Or would only child syndrome kick in and he’d hate him even more for trying to “steal” Sirius from him because it would be really shocking and maybe low key traumatic for James to have any less than 110% of Sirius’ attention…again even if they were only platonic… 🤔)
If it was going to work I could see it maybe more after Hogwarts when they’ve all grown up a bit and James and Lily are wrapped up in their family and Sirius is a bit adrift at adjusting to not being able to have all of James all of the time.
The closest I’ve seen to making something like it work was a fic where Snape was horribly tortured for killing Peter in front of Voldemort to stop him telling the secret and it left him vegetative for years and the Potters cared for him and eventually Sirius took over so they could go live their married lives. I was really interested in where they were going with it and pretty sold on that being a situation in which it could end up all happy families but unfortunately the fic was kinda preslash and stopped before it explored how things would go romantically for Sirius/Snape after Snape regained his consciousness.
Would love to hear your thoughts on any scenarios in which you think the 3 of them could get along swimmingly!
My other thought was maybe if Sirius had been put in Slytherin and James decided to talk his way into Slytherin to be together, they might eventually adopt Snape into their wider friendship group for his dry wit the way they did Remus. I feel like James was waiting his whole life to have both a best friend and his own gang and would make one wherever he was with the best of what he had available (lbr Peter is hardly a stellar pick), and without the “he’s evil because he’s Slytherin” divide they could potentially find the Dark curses Sev knows fun/useful against whoever else they decide to bully instead, might notice in the shared dorm how poor he is and get a pity thing going like they did for Remus’ werewolf issue (which Snape’s pride would hate but he’d probably milk knowing how he was with Lucius?), and if Snape was gay and as devoted to a crush on Sirius as he was to the canon one on Lily and therefore willing to do some wing maning for James with Lily to keep in James and Sirius good graces, it could really cement his value as a pal….and if Snape had other options for well connected friends who could get him out of Cokeworth (picturing Fleamont setting up summer internships for James’ unfortunate looking poor but impeccably mannered pal at Sleekeasys R and D department 🥹) I’m sure Snape would be happy to not bother with the blood supremacist half of his year who want his childhood best friend dead (unless we think he joined to be in with them as a way to keep Lily safe, but I think that would be more a rationale he’d give himself or her later to justify his behaviour) ……..but anyway even if all of this elaborate scenario could happen so that the 3 of them would be pally, I still can’t picture Sirius being able to love/fancy someone more than James if James is right there, even if it’s only platonic on James’ end.
Unless I guess we take a reading of canon that Sirius was so mean to Snape because he fancied him madly and was furious about it, or because he could sense the queerness in him he hated/was being told by family to squash out in himself. Then maybe they’d have a special type of connection that could be powerful in a way Sirius wouldn’t be able to share with a straight James? Would that be enough though for Sirius never see one without the other Black? 🤔
I do think if that was the friendship group and they made Snape the secret secret keeper instead of Peter James and Lily might have lived! (And Snape might have let himself get killed keeping the secret 🥲) …although that said if Peter had an inkling James Potter might go to Slytherin he probably wouldn’t have fought the hat so hard and would have still been in the gang too!
I’ve really gone on a tangent here but yeah so interested in any scenarios you could see it working, I think about this a lot and I love the way you think about HP things! 👏
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
this is a question which i've wondered about for a while, which i'm going to answer with a tentative... yes.
because i do agree with you that one of the things which makes snack-in-the-90s really work is their shared grief over the loss of james and lily [and their shared guilt and desire to punish themselves for the role they each played in their deaths] and how it contributes to them being one of the series' most interesting narrative mirror pairings.
but it's equally true that they're narrative mirrors even without the grief aspect simply because of their mirrored love - whether you wish to interpret this as platonic or not - for one half of james and lily, and the quiet devastation [even though sirius expresses this very differently to snape] they feel when the two pair off.
and so i do think - in a world in which both james and lily survive [i don't think it can be either/or] - there is the potential for snape and sirius to find themselves drawn together by a grief which is less profound than that caused by james and lily's deaths, but is still transformational in a way that i think is often overlooked in fandom: the grief of realising that the person you love doesn't feel the same way.
because i love platonic prongsfoot and platonic snily as much as the next girl, and i think that the grief i'm describing can apply just as much to platonic love as to romantic love.
but i prefer - and, indeed, i'm on the record as being convinced this is the text's actual intention - to read both snape's love for lily and sirius' love for james as romantic.
and - obviously - the intensity of this feeling prevents either snape or sirius getting a grip while they're in their teens [especially if they're both also grappling with the idea that they're not straight - i'm afraid i've never bought the fanon that the wizarding world is more enlightened when it comes to sexuality]. it makes perfect sense that - as you say - it's impossible for the nineteen-year-old sirius to imagine caring about someone the way he care about james, and to convince himself that the only way he can live his life is to spend decades pining nobly from afar, never letting on how much his heart aches.
but one of the great tragedies of the canonical snape and sirius is that they get stuck in a state of arrested development from their lives - essentially - stopping when they're both twenty-one. there's an inherent pettiness to their interactions in canon - the obsessing over schoolboy experiences, the fact that snape finds himself stuck at school and sirius finds himself stuck in his childhood home - which other characters clearly don't quite understand [dumbledore saying to harry at the end of order of the phoenix that sirius was too sensible to be goaded by snape seems dismissive in the context of what we - the readers - have seen, but it makes perfect sense that - from dumbledore's perspective - a thirty-six-year-old man wouldn't still care about playground beef from twenty years ago.]
in a world where james and lily live, snape and sirius get a chance to act their actual ages - and with that, sirius gets to learn how to accept that his role in james' life will change as his best friend settles into being a husband and father and snape either gets to learn how to stop pining for lily from afar or how to start trying to make amends for his treatment of her.
and james and lily also get to grow up too - to recognise how their priorities towards their friends will change as they form a family of their own and to see their school days [and their behaviour during them] more objectively the further removed from them they become. james at eighteen would rather die than have anything less than 110% of sirius' attention. james at thirty has other things to worry about.
i think that it would only work in a scenario where snape and sirius encountered each other again after having left hogwarts [i like the slytherin!james suggestion - and i'd be interested to see how you'd write it - but i personally think that there's no way on earth james is having snape anywhere near him until he's - for want of a better term - "won" their rivalry over lily]. but i also think it would only work if that scenario was decades after they graduated, rather than years, and that the two don't meet again until they're - at least - in their early forties.
i think you could do something really quite interesting with james in that setting - as he realises, as his children reach adulthood and start to fly the nest, that sirius is chronically single and decides the project he wants for his middle age is to find his friend true love.
never expecting that his friend will bail from a date he arranges with a lovely woman and end up hiding in the leaky cauldron talking to snape - but then being mature enough [after some running around screaming "snape? snape?" at lily] to think that if sirius is happy, then he is.
and on this point, both sirius and snape canonically struggle to be realistic about how they see themselves and their worth - for example, in how they both refuse to believe that they could successfully atone for their roles in causing james and lily's deaths. when this is combined with the fact that sirius grew up in a community which is obsessed with blood and lineage - and how that blood and lineage is continued - and snape grew up with his primary masculine role-model being a violent man who was presumably also a homophobe, i do think that both of them would find it difficult to be open about their sexuality, especially since - in a world where they get to live normally after 1981 - they would be starting to understand themselves as queer during the aids crisis [which i refuse to believe doesn't impact the wizarding world, because i loathe the implication of canon that wizards are resistant to muggle diseases].
i think you can plausibly write them as both still in the closet in the 90s/00s - and for sirius especially to be worried about james' reaction if he found out he was interested in men. [which is a dimension often left out of things which examine sirius as queer and james as straight. lots of queer men worry - sometimes unnecessarily, sometimes, sadly, justifiably - that being open about their sexuality with straight male friends will cause those friends to back off from their platonic relationships due to a homophobic fear that queer men will automatically interpret platonic physical and emotional intimacy as romantic.]
but - whatever else he is - james clearly isn't a bigot. and i think he could once again get over the fact that sirius has shacked up with snape [snape?] in order to be proud that sirius was finally comfortable with who he is.
[and yes, i do genuinely think that sirius and snape's canonical vibe can be read as having some level of sexual attraction in it - they are both just so obsessed with each other that it's giving "why do i have this hyper-intense need to get in this other boy's face oh wait that's why"...]

Evermore (Marauder's Version)
@marsmarauders and I welcome you back to our Taylor Swift x Marauders series. We got carried away again but what's new about that huh? Anyways here you have every single song from Evermore related to the Marauders characters :D (I totally didn't forget about this series at all due to midterms, what r y'all talking about? Nope not me)
willow
"Wait for the signal and I'll meet you after dark, Show me the places where the others gave you scars"
Both of us wholeheartedly agree that this is for sure a wolfstar song. This particular lyric could go either way with scars Sirius has from his mother or the scars Remus has because of Greyback and his furry little problem and "Head on the pillow, I could feel you sneaking in, as if you were a mythical thing" bcoz obviously they shared a dorm for 7 yrs and mythical thing aka a werewolf!
champagne problems
"How evergreen, our group of friends, Don't think we'll say that word again"
WOLFSTAR. I feel like this isn't even an argument every single person in the fandom who listens to Taylor can agree on this, this song screams wolfstar from Sirius' pov. "She would've made such a lovely bride, what a shame she's fucked in the head," being said about Sirius ofc
And Tonks being the new real thing who will patch up the tapestry that Sirius shred
gold rush
"I don't like anticipating my face in a red flush, I don't like that anyone would die to feel your touch"
Now this is about unrequited love and I was certain from the beginning is about jegulus specifically from Regulus' pov talking about James pining after Lily for years when he was right there
'tis the damn season
"We could call it even, You could call me babe for the weekend, 'Tis the damn season,"
Seeing as the song talks about a fleeting relationship we couldn't help but think of this as Remus and Grant
tolerate it
"While you were out building other worlds, where was I? Where's that man who'd throw blankets over my barbed wire?"
BLACK BROTHERS. Like no discussion required at all this song screams Black Brothers from Regulus' pov like try and tell me that isn't Regulus talking about Sirius building a separate life for himself with the Gryffindors leaving Reg behind when he always used to be his protector, and now he's all alone. "I made you my temple, my mural, my sky, Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life" this is soo Regulus Black coded
no body, no crime
"I think he did it but I just can't prove it, No, no body, no crime, But I ain't letting up until the day I die"
Upon a lot of discussion and deliberation we have come to the conclusion that this song is Regulus Black about Peter coz he saw him at a meeting and knows he's the spy but by this time his relationship with his brother is basically non existent and he knows Sirius won't believe him so he needs proof
But at the ending the pov changes to Peter, convincing everyone that Sirius was the spy and the murderer
happiness
"Haunted by the look in my eyes, that would've loved you for a lifetime, Leave it all behind and there is happiness"
Now this song we think could go two ways either with jegulus or with nobleflower coz the lyrics "I hope she'll be a beautiful fool, Who takes my spot next to you" and the whole song overall has this tone of the singer wanting their ex lover to lead a happy life without them while also having a very spiteful undertone due to not being a part of it and that screams Black family to us
dorothea
"Hey Dorothea, Do you ever stop and think about me? When we were younger, down in the park honey, making a lark of the misery
Now we have two interpretations for this Marls was thinking more of Remus and Mary from Remus' pov since they are the only two members left of their friend group and Mary was the one who fled, I on the other hand could also see another version which could be Snape talking about Lily, "You got shiny friends since you left town, A tiny screen's the only place I see you now"
coney island
"I'm on a bench in Coney Island, Wondering, where did my baby go?"
For this song while Marls wasn't that sure but I could see Nobelflower all over since the song talks about this badly ended relationship bcoz one of them (Narcissa) had started distancing themselves and acting strange, so the other (Alice) starts questioning their own existence and wondering if they are all alone now that their partner no longer feels known. This being coz Cissa is bound to her house and her duties, one of them being getting married to a pure blood and Alice starts to resent her for it even tho she knows she doesn't have much of a choice
ivy
"My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand, Taking mine, but it's been promised to another"
Now ignoring the affair since we don't think any of them would do that, if we just look at the dying relationship and the beginning of a new one aspect of the song I can definitely see the end of bartylus and then Barty falling in love with Evan and thankfully Marls agrees with me on this
cowboy like me
"And the skeletons in both our closets, Plotted hard to fuck this up"
Both of us agree that is song is rosekiller all the way through bcoz it talks about two con artists who thought they never needed love but then they fall for each other?? Tell me that isn't sooo rosekiller coded
long story short
"And I fell from the pedestal, Right down the rabbit hole, Long story short, it was a bad time"
This is very obviously about Lily falling in love with James after Severus to the both of us, about how in hindsight that friendship wasn't really what she thought it was and now she is genuinely happy and it's all about James now
Tho Marls also suggested it about James and Lily getting together after he broke up with Regulus as well and while I do like it, I personally refuse to associate "Long story short, it was the wrong guy" with jegulus coz that just makes me sad :(
marjorie
"Should've kept every grocery store receipt, 'Cause every scrap of you would be taken from me"
This track again is Black Brothers coded but this time from Sirius' pov missing his brother after his death and regretting not mending their relationship bcoz there was still a part of him which hated his little brother for not running away with him
"What died didn't stay dead, You're alive, you're alive in my head"
closure
"It's been a long time, And seeing the shape of your name, Still spells out pain"
Evans sister. Yep that's it, it's Lily singing to Petunia about their broken relationship
evermore
"I replay my footsteps on each stepping stone, Trying to find the one where I went wrong"
In the words of our lovely Marls herself "REGULUS RIGHT BEFORE HE DIES LIKE RIGHT AS HE'S GOING DOWN TO THE CAVE, I TAKE NO CRITICISM"
And no criticism she had to take bcoz those were exactly my thoughts no discussion needed at all
right where you left me
"Help, I'm still at the restaurant, still sitting in a corner I haunt"
Now Marls sees this as Remus post war bcoz everyone other than him died (or fled in Mary's case) and left him alone and he couldn't move on from the fact for the longest time
And while I do love this interpretation I can also see jegulus after the break up from Regulus' pov, seeing James falling in love with Lily again and having a family "I'm sure that you got a wife out there, Kids and Christmas, but I'm unaware" "If our love died young, I can't bear witness" while he's still stuck there reminiscing their time together bcoz that's genuinely the happiest he's ever been
it's time to go
"Sometimes, givin' up is the strong thing, Sometimes, to run is the brave thing, Sometimes, walkin' out is the one thing"
Sirius Black. That's it. We hear no criticism at all, try and fight us about it and we will strangle you in ur sleep :D I'm not kidding we hope yk that for ur own safety
AND THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY!! Thank you for sticking with us even tho I was very late for this post, the next post probably won't take this long coz Marls is the one who's gonna post that, not me, but I hope u liked our opinions and if not, we'd love to hear urs
Make sure to come back to see Folklore, coming soon! (To a theater near you)

Remus Lupin x Reader Angst Headcanon?
I had this idea for a fic featuring The Prank but am struggling big time to even get a good word count on part 1 so I'm giving it to y'all in like headcanon form. Feel free to use. I might eventually make this a full fic. Okay...
Warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, The Prank
Note: The Prank isn't fully canon compliant because then it would happen in their 5th year. I moved it up to 6th/7th year.
Reader would be Sirius and Regulus' sister. Cousin really to make an any ethnicity reader. Definitely Orion's brother had a kid and then he and his wife passed so you moved in with them when you were young.
Due to old pureblood ways, anything bad you did was seen as bad influence from your brothers and they were punished. You learned to play the part but it made Sirius and Regulus more upset.
You went to Ilvermorny as intended for a few years before transferring to Hogwarts. You're probably a hufflepuff.
Because Marlene is dating Dorcas and you are friends with Pandora and dating Remus, so all three Black siblings are in the same friend circle. You still manage to never speak to each other and somehow always have alone time with friends.
You and Lily are close but can't agree because of Lily's friendship with Snape.
The three Black siblings have a scarily regular routine including being the first three at breakfast every morning. A few mornings after The Prank, Sirius hasn't been showing up.
Sirius finally appears one day when breakfast is near over and is shunned by the marauders and co.
You notice and call him over to sit with you because he looks so distraught. Silent awkward breakfast time.
As you start walking to class, you finally notice his absolute lack of hygiene and detour to the hospital wing and then your prefect dorm as he reveals what happens.
Like a little zombie, Sirius actually does everything you tell him and cleans himself up before staying put in your room instead of going to class.
You finally get a chance to meet up with Remus now that he's all recovered and hear his side of the story.
You'd feel conflicted, not saying anything, because Sirius was reckless but everyone knew that. He doesn't think before he acts and Snape has been onto Remus for awhile that you know exactly why he did what he did.
When everyone goes to Hogsmeade and begins complaining about it, you'd absentmindedly voice that opinion. The group is obviously not happy with this middle of the road thinking. Remus especially sees it as a huge slap in the face because even the Slytherin Skittles agree.
You try to diffuse the tension but because you still see both sides, it only makes it worse.
Huge fight with Remus. Choice words said on both sides. Highlight: Remus thinks it's appalling that you don't understand. Highlight #2: If reader is poc then you think it's baffling that he doesn't seem to get who Snape is and that just because he's heard of discrimination, Remus has had the privilege of never experiencing that werewolf discrimination because he's protected. You had an up close look at it while at Ilvermorny.
Not a breakup but essentially a breakup when you both storm off.
You practically throw yourself into fixing Sirius. The group has rallied behind Remus. Regulus somehow finds himself taking his brother's spot in becoming the fourth marauder (semi against his will but he secretly always wanted to be accepted and is reveling in it).
The end of the school year comes and you finally come face to face with marauders again while collecting Sirius' belongings. James suddenly asks where is Sirius gonna go because he did run away from home the year prior. Tension is thick when you reveal that he's coming back to Grimmauld but no one is humble enough to make up so you leave.
The angst? Extra angsty?: you find out that you're pregnant and we all know whose baby it is.
Sirius ends up finding out on the train ride leaving Hogwarts and says you should make up with Remus. He reveals he knows that they'll all be at James' house because Prongsfoot are codependent so James does slip messages occasionally to Sirius jut to check on him.
You refuse because Sirius needs you, Remus hurt you, and you're stubborn.
Sirius tries to help you keep it from Walburga and Orion for as long as he can before finally going to Regulus.
You three have a big heart to heart and make up because this is kind of a serious situation.
Spoiler: Walburga and Orion find out anyway.
You're banned from going back to Hogwarts. But because you're a Black, they still request the best tutors with the promise that if you look semi "normal" after having the baby then you can go back for graduation.
They also issue an ultimatum. Give up the baby when the time comes and marry who they want or get out.
7th year rolls around and Sirius is slowly being brought back into the group by way of Regulus. Everyone notices Sirius is way more level headed than before. He's fully integrated again after Snape calls Lily a mudblood.
Sirius and Regulus manage to sneak away from the Potters during Winter Break to check on you. They're panicking after Walburga and Orion reveal they changed their minds and you've been kicked out after not wholeheartedly agreeing to give up the baby. Curses have been put up all around Grimmauld so you can't be snuck back in and if they even think about helping you then they'll be kicked out and cut off.
They go to find you anyway when Walburga and Orion think they've headed back to the Potters. Sirius knows they have to play it smart and agree to abide by their parents rules until Sirius gets his cut of the money at least. Or until they can figure out how to undo whatever curses and hexes were put on you and Grimmauld.
They find you working in a seedy pub for no pay but a place to stay and one meal a day. You reveal that Walburga and Orion moved all the money left to you into their accounts so it doesn't matter that you just became an adult. You have no funds and your tutors are sent away so you've basically dropped out of school.
Even when they get back to Hogwarts, Sirius and Regulus sneak out as much as they can to help you and the baby in anyway they can.
They convince you to talk to Remus, knowing he's kind of the only current option you have without Walburga or Orion's interference.
Both brothers are both surprised and disappointed when you come back crying. You and Remus didn't even get to the real conversation. It was a fight and he left before you could say anything meaningful.
During a party, everyone retreats to the Slytherin Skittles dorm, drunk as skunks.
Remus is a nostalgic drunk. Regulus is an emotional and slightly annoyed drunk.
"I would call you a friend Lupin but leave my sister alone. You’ve done it before while she was pregnant, it shouldn’t be that hard to do it now. Stop twisting that knife into her and just let her go. Alright? Please, before I have to stop being friends with you."
Everyone sobers up in an instant. Remus locks himself in the bathroom.
He really wants to see you to at least apologize. The entire group feels like shit now. Regulus and Sirius are obviously not for it. They're eventually convinced to at least facilitate you meeting Remus.
It's essentially an ambush because they know you don't want to meet him after that second fight.
Like they anticipated, you're feeling a bit betrayed by your brothers but hear them out.
Remus finally enters the foreclosed cottage you bought after your brothers snuck enough petty money and sold their things at secondhand shops to help you without raising alarm. The place is a right mess except for the nursery.
You don't really have a proper talk because you have to get ready for work, flustered at having to get everything ready.
Remus offers to watch the baby. He finally notices the kitchen and you reveal the kid inherited his affliction. Remus realizes that you can't fix up anything else when you're paying for ingredients to make wolfsbane for both yourself and the baby because you get scratched a lot dealing with a baby transforming.
You have a real conversation once you get back from work. It's not fixed by any means but a tiny step in the right direction.
Remus gets a job with Dumbledore's help that can accommodate his monthly schedule. That money and whatever else he can help with is sent to you.
It's common for the group to no longer see him on the weekends until Sunday night. He was at the cottage so you could get some much needed sleep and rest.
Everyone graduates (minus Regulus and Barty who still have one more year). Sirius begins funneling his money into a second account that he plans on moving into your own in a few months.
You and Remus build up enough of a rapport with each other that he offers for you to move in with him. He still lives with his parents but their house is nice and they both work or are always out with friends.
You agree because the cottage is still shit.
Remus takes the guest room and you're given his room since it has a bathroom attached.
Hope and Lyall Lupin have already been informed about everything (yeah, they chewed out Remus' ass for weeks). While they give you space, they're overjoyed to meet their grandchild.
A huge burden is taken off of you in more ways than one. You tell Sirius to focus on his Auror training and getting on his feet first before helping you and tell Regulus to focus on his studies and NEWTS. Both of them are hesitant at first but do so after getting that reassurance from Remus and his parents.
You and Remus are glorified roommates. The definition of co-parenting. Nothing more, nothing less... until the holidays.
James is excited to show off the apartment he and Sirius share (Lily still lives with the girls and Peter as an attempt for her and James to take it slow). You and Remus show up separately but sit next to each other which gives everyone hope even though they won't say anything.
Everyone grows quiet when they notice you staring at the graduation pictures on the wall. You don't really want to go back to Hogwarts after your time ended poorly but you also want a better job than the pub. You want to do the job you actually want.
Remus follows after you when you excuse yourself for fresh air.
He offers to tutor you so you can just take your NEWTS without having to attend classes again. Reluctantly, you agree.
From co-parents/roommates to actively spending time with each other.
The romance slowly begins to build back as well as the friendship. You two even start studying outside of the house. Remus drags you to your old friends' places and you start to become friends with them again as well.
Unlike when you originally got together, this time: Remus falls first and falls harder.
He completely respects that you're not ready yet to even unpack if you want a relationship with him. You two continue work as usual.
Regulus and Barty graduate. They both appreciate you being there, knowing it's hard for you.
Regulus and Sirius don't have to anymore but they both choose to give massive fuck you's to Walburga and Orion, taking all their money and stuff with them. Of course the two try to make up with you just so they can get one of their kids back for an heir but you shun them as well, turning away all their gifts.
The baby spends the entire summer with nearly everyone but you and Remus so you can double down and focus on your studies.
You and Remus spend a night together platonically from staying up tutoring... leads to another night that happens not so platonically. More nights like that start to follow.
It's not a relationship but you two are in each other's beds more often than not.
Fast forward to NEWTS, you pass with flying colors.
The entire gang shows up to your graduation. Remus is sure that his parents were even more excited for you than they were for him. Your brothers take way more pictures than necessary before informing you of a surprise dinner.
It's not at a restaurant but at the Potter Estate.
You and Remus are the last two awake, in the kitchen, eating ice cream. He has nothing but praises for your graduating and is more than ready to help you put in applications for jobs you actually want.
He also has a graduation present, holding up keys. He bought a condo (with Regulus and Sirius' help) and is asking if you'll be his girlfriend and move in with him.
That's all I got.

Snupin First Wizarding War Headcanon I Cannot Stop Thinking About
Just imagine Remus Lupin being a spy for the Order of Phoenix during the First Wizarding War and infiltrating the werewolfs that serve Voldemort as just another desperate one except he encounters Severus Snape, who very obviously knows who Remus is and how loyal he is to his friends. Surely, Remus is afraid that Snape will denounce him in a matter of seconds but instead he offers a deal: he will turn a blind eye on Remus' presence if Remus tells him how Lily is doing or, at least, whether she's still alive. This Snape is not yet a spy but he isn't very devoted to Voldemort's cause either plus he still cares about Lily above all else and knowing nothing about her drives him mad.
Remus doesn't like the idea but he doesn't really see a way out so he starts feeding Severus pieces of information. Slowly but steadily they grow closer and begin to cover each other's asses (Remus needs quite a lot of ass covering as he still tries not to hurt anyone and that makes other werewolves and Death Eaters suspicious). What started as a forced alliance becomes a real friendship as they are both in a desperate need of someone close; that's the time where some people in the Order start suspecting that Remus is a double-agent and is actually working for Voldemort — the Marauders seem to canonically think so as well, at least that's why (according to Sirius in the third book) they didn't tell Remus about Peter as the Secret-Keeper.
Imagine Remus and Severus growing so close over time that one morning after getting way too drunk for all the worst reasons they do actually wake up in the same bed. Imagine them both embarrassed as hell (Remus still has this big fat unrequited longing for Sirius and Severus is in a sort of situationship with Lucius), and they try to act as if it didn't happen except they both can't and keep coming back for more. Imagine them just finding some comfort in each other's embrace amidst what they both (wrongly) consider to be the worst time in their lives. That little thing they have quickly grows out of control. So, when Lily dies, and Snape desperately needs to blame someone for what had happened (he already blames himself but that’s simply not enough to calm the pain), the only person he can think of is Remus. It's Remus who distracted him and made him lose control. If it wasn't for Remus, he might have been able to save her.
Well... at least that's how I explain why Remus in the third book stubbornly calls Snape by his first name, thank you for coming to my TedTalk, bye!!

"you were 15, not five". same with sirius, then. we don't even know exactly what sirius told to severus for him to go down there, but sirius KNEW precisely what was down there. sirius full knew and still sent him there. don't get shit twisted. unlike severus sirius fully knew he was sending someone else to their potential death and didn't give a fuck. i'm sick of this victim blaming. severus didn't deserve that shit and sirius acted like a psychotic little freak that wasn't even sorry he risked his own friend's integrity for a joke.
(for anyone who wants to join the conversation, we're talking about the marauders and the infamous prank. the anon is team severus, and I am decidedly not).
sweetie, there's no need to post this anonymously.
I hope you reveal yourself eventually, because I genuinely love talking about this with people. I somewhat agree with you, so let's dissect.
"same with sirius, then." — too true. there's actually so many parallels between sirius and snape that I'm convinced they could've been best friends in another life. they both came from backgrounds of hatred and abuse, and as a result, they both deeply cling to and value the friendships they made early on in their lives (with james and lily respectively). finally, they both shoot to kill when they're mad. I 100% agree that sirius was wrong for what he did to remus—who is the true victim in this situation, let's be real. "we don't even know exactly what sirius told to severus for him to go down there, but sirius KNEW precisely what was down there." — so did snape, though. in the deathly hallows (ch. 33), he outright says to lily that he suspects remus is a werewolf before the prank ever happens. he only went down to the whomping willow to confirm his suspicions. also, according to remus in the prisoner of azkaban (ch. 18) snape had been following them around and trying to expose remus for even longer than just the one night. chances are, snape would've snuck down there eventually, and sirius just sped up the process (which, I agree, was still very wrong of him). "sirius full knew and still sent him there." — I think you meant 'fully' knew. and as I just said above, so did snape.
"don't get shit twisted." — I actually think I have my facts pretty straight, which is why I wish you would've had the bravery to post this not anonymously. I'm curious as to what you think I've said so far that is incorrect (especially since I do back up most of my claims with evidence directly from the books).
"unlike severus sirius fully knew he was sending someone else to their potential death and didn't give a fuck." — this is the third time you've argued this point, and it's getting slightly redundant ... but I'll bite. sending someone to their death means not giving them a choice (an example would be a monarch who orders that someone be executed). sirius was wrong for telling snape how to get into the whomping willow (prisoner of Azkaban ch. 18) but he didn't hold a gun to his head and say "you must go poke your nose where it doesn't belong, you don't have a choice." snape was old enough to make his own decisions, and he still chose to go, despite suspecting that remus was a werewolf.
"i'm sick of this victim blaming." — because of all the points I've made so far, I think it's fair to say that sirius and snape are not victims in this situation. remus is the only true victim of that prank.
"severus didn't deserve that shit and sirius acted like a psychotic little freak that wasn't even sorry he risked his own friend's integrity for a joke." — severus faced something we like to call the consequences of his own actions. if you see a sign on the road that says "STOP! CLIFF AHEAD" and you drive forward and off the cliff anyway, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I feel the need to remind you that at the end of the day, these are all fictional characters and fictional scenarios. by saying things like how you're "sick of this victim blaming" and "severus didn't deserve that shit", I can tell that you deeply empathise with severus snape's character.
truly (this part isn't sarcastic), if you (the anonymous poster) feel like life has made you a victim or a punching bag—which is the only rational reason I can think of for why you would have all this anger—then I hope you recieve the empathy and the therapy you need. you seem like someone who has been very hurt and lashes out at the world in response, so I'm sorry for whatever you've been through (if you've been through anything).
if you're just really passionate about fictional characters and the harry potter series in general, great! I am too. so come out of hiding (aka stop being a coward), and we can fangirl over it together :)

You might be very handsome, but maybe you’re not very kind!
It’s intellectually dishonest to think that Snape telling students about Remus condition wouldn’t immediately trickle down to their parents. Or do you think Snape was trying to get teenagers to bite Remus ankles?
I am not at all trying to defend Remus right to keep that job after the mess that was the Shrieking Shack episode, I’m trying to say that it is shitty to basically get someone fired on the grounds of being a werewolf.
“They will listen to Lupin is a werewolf, don’t listen to him when he offers you candy”?
This actually helps illustrate the stigma. Greyback (one guy) worked very hard to maintain the reputation of werewolves as something analog to pedophilia and degeneracy, which is a jump people would also often make when discovering someone’s HIV status. So should Snape have kept Remus medical privacy? Yeah, it would have been decent.
I do remember Lupin took losing his job pretty well, but I’ll reiterate - it wasn’t shitty because it hurt Remus feelings, it was shitty because it further stigmatised a vulnerable group in wizarding society.
“He holds no love for werewolves, who are mostly aligned with Voldemort”
That’s worst than petty! That’s unkind! That’s prejudiced! It’s a similar argument that send Hagrid to Azkaban. And proving my point that Snape’s actions were motivated by prejudice and fear, not reason.
He was hurt and frustrated, but also too stubborn to hear the truth. The most dangerous person in that group escaped as a rat that night, and Snape’s attachment to his teenage grudge had a part in that.
You write so much about the condition and stigma around lycantrophy, I actually can’t believe how willing you are to defend Snape on this one.
My argument is not Snape vs Lupin, it’s Snape vs Werewolves Trying to Work. Snape hammered in the message that werewolves are untrustworthy, dangerous, and should be killed into hundreds of young little minds, and also stirred a public outcry to see a werewolf removed from his position, which resulted on legislations around their employability tightening. Nice fucking guy.
I'm sorry if I came across as unkind. I was going for humored in my ranting and raving.
I didn't mean to suggest the information wouldn't trickle to the parents - it had already trickled to the staff members, after all.
But that wasn't Snape's goal. His goal wasn't to get Remus punished for being a bad dog. He wasn't sending students, or the public, to go bite ankles. He wasn't even trying to get Remus fired though I'm sure that pleased him.
He was warning children about a threat that could very well walk right into the front doors of the school and start murdering them. Not just as a wolf, but as a man - a far more insidious threat.
Snape does have a teenage grudge: He believes Remus and Sirius worked together to almost get him killed. Or at least Sirius did and Remus was, as always, complicit with the violence.
"You surely don't believe a word of Blacks story?" Snape whispered, his eyes fixed on Dumbledore's face. "I wish to speak to Harry and Hermione alone," Dumbledore repeated. Snape took a step towards Dumbledore. "Sirius Black showed he was capable of murder at the age of sixteen," he breathed. "You haven't forgotten that, Headmaster? You haven't forgotten that he once tried to kill me?" (PoA ch21) "So that's why Snape doesn't like you," said Harry slowly, "Because he thought you were in on the joke?" "That's right," sneered a cold voice from the wall behind Lupin. Severus Snape was pulling off the Invisibility Cloak, his wand pointing directly at Lupin. (PoA ch18)
He has a young adult grudge, too: Sirius murdered Lily, as well as his own friends James and Peter - and a massacre of 12 Muggles. He is vile. Violent. Unhinged. Immoral. He always has been - and Remus has always followed him anyway.
He is typically too stubborn to hear the truth - though that night was so hectic and stressful... Seriously, think about it from his POV:
... The sun has set. Remus has chosen to not take his potion.
Severus has suspected all year he's been working with Sirius Black - and upon entering Remus' office he gets some sussy confirmation: Remus is venting to the shack.
He follows - and finds Sirius and Remus working together to keep Potter and his friends (one with his leg broken, bent the wrong way) inside a one-exit bunker. The same one he was almost mauled in. Remus is going to be a werewolf REAL soon. Sirius is sadistic.
He ties Remus up, keeps his wand on Sirius - but gets knocked out. He never saw Peter. He didn't even hear the claim Peter was alive.
Next thing he knows: it's early morning, the moon is still out so Remus will be wandering about as a werewolf - and he finds Sirius, Harry and Hermione passed out by the lake. The dementors aren't doing their job anymore. Shit.
He takes them all up to the castle for medical treatment - and to FINALLY lock Sirius up. Thank god that threat is over - now its just Remus, but not much can be done about him until dawn...
...And that bastard might just wander back into the school like NOTHING happened... like he hadn't just worked with Sirius Black to keep those children in the shack until he could tear them apart... Wolf in sheep's clothing, indeed.
The children had obviously been confunded and fed lies.
"Nasty cut you've got there… Black's work, I suppose?" "As a matter of fact, it was Potter, Weasley and Granger, Minister…" "No!" "Black had bewitched them, I saw it immediately. A Confundus Charm, to judge by their behaviour. They seemed to think there was a possibility he was innocent." […] But Fudge was shaking his head with a small smile on his face. "Harry, Harry, you're very confused, you've been through a dreadful ordeal, lie back down, now, we've got everything under control…" "YOU HAVEN'T!" Harry yelled. "YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG MAN!" "Minister, listen, please," Hermione said; she had hurried to Harry's side and was gazing imploringly into Fudge's face. "I saw him, too. It was Ron's rat, he's an Animagus, Pettigrew, I mean, and-" "You see, Minister?" said Snape. "Confunded, both of them… Black's done a very good job on them…" (PoA ch21)
Absolute dribble. The Minister himself had seen the crater where Peter was blown up.
"I was Junior Minister in the Department of Magical Catastrophes at the time, and I was one of the first on the scene after Black murdered all those people. I - I will never forget it. I still dream about it sometimes. A crater in the middle of the street, so deep it had cracked the sewer below. Bodies everywhere. Muggles screaming. And Black standing there laughing, with what was left of Pettigrew in front of him... a heap of bloodstained robes and a few - a few fragments-" (PoA ch10)
A little later, when Sirius was due to be executed - he is gone. The killer is loose again and Snape looses his marbles about it.
Now they could hear angry voices, growing louder and louder. Madam Pomfrey was staring at the door. "Really - they'll wake everybody up! What do you think they're doing?" […] "He must have Disapparated, Severus, we should have left somebody in the room with him. When this gets out-" "HE DIDN'T DISAPPARATE!" Snape roared, now very close at hand. "YOU CAN'T DISAPPARATE INSIDE THIS CASTLE!" […] "Professor Snape!" shrieked Madam Pomfrey. "Control yourself!" "See here, Snape, be reasonable," said Fudge. "This door's been locked, we just saw-" "THEY HELPED HIM ESCAPE, I KNOW IT!" Snape howled, pointing at Harry and Hermione. His face was twisted, spit was flying from his mouth. […] Snape whirled about, robes swishing behind him, and stormed out of the ward. "Fellow seems quite unbalanced," said Fudge, staring after him. "I'd watch out for him, if I were you, Dumbledore." "Oh, he's not unbalanced," said Dumbledore quietly. "He's just suffered a severe disappointment." (PoA ch22)
Injured, no sleep, all adrenaline and stress, Harry basically wandering into danger like a moth to a flame - it's been a bad night. So he storms off to actually go and wake people up. Students.
… Severus was never steepling his fingers trying to find a way to fuck over Remus, or werewolves in general. He was panicking in a situation he thought was life or death.
Was it nice to out Remus as a werewolf? No. Does he have unfair prejudice against werewolves? Yes. He thinks they lack sense and morality and lean towards Voldemort's ideals. A common view - and a nasty one. He is wrong to think poorly of werewolves, like everyone else.
But none of his actions were chosen to hurt Remus or werewolves. Spilling the beans was his last resort.
He never sent anyone after Remus. The kids weren't fighting to have him gone Draco was more concerned about Buckbeak. He wasn't barking to the Minister, who was right there, about Remus or werewolves. Is that 'stirring a public outcry'…?
Of course the kids will tell their parents - but how is their over-the-top prejudiced reaction to the news 'Remus Lupin is a werewolf - but a cool teacher that hasn't hurt anyone' Severus' fault, when he was utterly convinced Remus was trying to trick and kill children...?
Severus did everything to keep his secret, despite not trusting him, until he was pushed to the absolute limit. If all it took was a nudge to have werewolf laws come in so harshly, then he could have been exposed by anyone.
Lupin shrugged. “The news would have leaked out anyway. We both know he wanted my job, but he could have wreaked much worse damage on me by tampering with the potion. He kept me healthy. I must be grateful.” “Maybe he didn’t dare mess with the potion with Dumbledore watching him!” said Harry. “You are determined to hate him, Harry,” said Lupin with a faint smile. (HBP ch16)
"You write so much about the condition and stigma around lycantrophy, I actually can’t believe how willing you are to defend Snape on this one."
Because despite Severus having prejudice and fear for werewolves he is still one of the people in the series who has treated them with the most care and respect. While it is wrong for him to have prejudices (though he has better reasons than most - having had personal experience with a werewolf being immoral and dangerous) it's hard to fault him when he never acted against werewolves, or even Remus (in any meaningful way, at least. He bothered Albus about him and tried to catch him out with Harry and the map.)
If I knew a murderer was around, I'd also would want to give as much information about him as I could to prevent him from killing. Something Remus doesn't agree with. That's okay tho he's my special man ♥

Snape makes me so fucking mad holy fuck, I’m incapable of thinking of him positively. I don’t even like Draco and I think of him 10x more positively than I think of Snape.
What kind of person gets bullied as a child and then grows up and bullies the child of his bully like that makes him way worse than James (btw I love James and I fully believe he matured and grew up and is a good person who deserved more than for Snape to tell a literal Nazi terrorist to kill him and his infant son but to leave his wife alive). Snape had way more power over the kids he taught than James did over him and what did he do with it?
He made fun of their appearance and scared them to the point that he was Neville’s boggart (which when you think about it is so awful because 1, Neville’s parents got tortured into insanity and I’m pretty sure he was there, and his boggart probably should have been Bellatrix or his uncle even, and 2, he did it because Neville was the other possible prophecy child and Snape was upset that Voldie didn’t pick him to kill when HE GAVE HIM THE PROPHECY IN THE FIRST PLACE).
He said shitty things about Harry’s dead parents and orphan-hood, was glaring at Harry literally right off the bat so don’t say it was because he got into trouble a lot, asked him questions he couldn’t possibly know, told Draco to summon a serpent during duelling club??? How irresponsible is that???
Literally lied to the minister just to get Sirius killed, which atp is ridiculous (I think Sirius was dumb as fuck, careless, possibly malicious, to tell snape where to go to find moony, but snape literally already suspected that Remus was a werewolf so idk what the fuck he thought was gonna happen if he found him during the full moon, and calling it a murder attempt is a stretch), like grow up please this man was in Azkaban for 12 years which is a hugely disproportionate punishment for anything he did do to you, and the reason he was there in the first place was literally fraudulent, which he knew and he lied anyway.
And honestly the Legilimancy lessons were fucking joke, who looks through an abused kids memories and makes fun of both the abuse and the few good memories he has?? And then he’s surprised that Harry tried to equal the playing field between them?? Snape had way more power than Harry did, and obviously it wasn’t the best thing to do to a person but yk what I’m not going to judge Harry’s actions, Snape was abusive and the victim isn’t to blame for their reactions to their abuser.
And he threw Harry across the room for seeing his memories?? Abuse. To be honest even seeing the memory about James being a bully felt like JKR trying to make shit up as fast as possible to make Snape seem more redeemable, which apparently worked for some people who think abusing kids is okay as long as you have a tragic backstory and an abusive parent. And it actually makes me really mad that he thought Harry was treated like a prince so decided to treat him like shit so he wouldn’t get any ideas about having self esteem or confidence, then found out that he was abused and then just did nothing and tbh treated him worse. And the lessons themselves were actually painful to Harry?? They definitely made his mind more vulnerable, he had more nightmares.
And let’s not forget that he joined a Nazi group that wanted to exterminate people like his best friend, called his best friend a slur, viewed Lily as an exception to the other muggleborns, and invented sectumsempura for his enemies IN SCHOOL which means the Maurauders.
And it makes me sick that he looked in a room with a crying baby whose parents just got murdered, his mom right in front of him, and a dead woman who was killed by his Nazi leader like directly because of his actions, and then he ignored the baby and went to hug the woman’s dead body. Like if I was Lily, I wouldn’t want him near either my body or my child, but if he was my only option, then he better be fucking taking care of my living son. Like she rejected him his weird obsession for her freaks me tf out.
And I get that without Snape asking for Lily to be spared, Voldemort wouldn’t have asked Lily to stand aside and the blood protection wouldn’t have been activated, but literally once good thing happening because of a tragedy he caused doesn’t make him a good person.
Anyway. Think I got it out of my system for now. Fuck Snape. :)
Edit: Just to be clear, I actually find his character really compelling, even though I dislike him and his actions. And of course I’m not saying no one can like Snape.
#anti snape apologists#anti snape#fuck snape fr#snape bashing#actually no it’s not because these are factual things that he’s done and they’re not exaggerated and he’s just a shitty person#not a good person who made mistakes

Little rant
This might be controversial, but I have to say it because it has been bothering me so much when reading comments on Snape posts.
The whole Snape vs. The Marauders thing is not an either/or debate. They were all deeply flawed individuals with their own issues and trauma that made them act out in ways that deeply hurt each other.
Severus' childhood was shit. He was an outsider and the only one that treated him kindly was Lily. But then he called her a slur, which in the Harry Potter universe, is just about as bad as saying the n-word (even though I hate making that comparison). It was in the heat of the moment because he was embarrased and hurt, but that does NOT JUSTIFY IT. He also abuses children in his adulthood on a daily basis. That is also NOT JUSTIFIED JUST BECAUSE HE WAS BULLIED AS A CHILD. He also abuses Harry so much just because he looks like his dad. THAT IS NOT JUSTIFIED JUST BECAUSE HE WAS BULLIED BY JAMES.
Sirius Black (I'm going to focus on him because he was Snape's main antagonist) grew up in an incredibly toxic and blood-supremecist family. He hated it and saw how evil it was. It was the start of the war. People were literally being murdered by Death Eaters. And then his own brother wanted to become one. He knew what they were capable of. THAT DOES NOT JUSTIFY HIS BULLYING OF SNAPE, especially because he had not become a Death Eater yet. He was absolutely awful to him, even into adulthood, when he was fighting for the good side, and that is not okay. BUT lets not forget, Snape did become a Death Eater for a period of time. His sad past does not justify it. Sirius went to prison wrongfully and lost 12 years of his life. That does not justify his incredibly immature behavior towards Snape or his toxicity around Harry.
Same goes for James. I consider Remus a little bit more of a victim in this whole thing, because he was suffering as a werewolf, and Snape wanted to expose him as one, even though it would mean his expulsion from not only Hogwarts, but society. Even into adulthood, Snape spent Remus' entire time at Hogwarts literally trying to ruin Remus' life. That is simply NOT OKAY.
Lily really didn't deserve any of this and I hate the hate she gets from Snape-lovers, just because she didn't want to be his friend after getting called a LITERAL SLUR. She was literally defending him. Snape messed that up for himself. Also, Lily didn't get with James immediately afterward. They grew up a little and grew as people a little and came together.
As you can probably tell, I am a tad more sympathetic to the Marauders (I've been in the fandom since I was in sixth grade). But I understand that ALL OF THESE PEOPLE are INCREDIBLY FLAWED AND NUANCED. SIRIUS AND SNAPE ARE EQUALLY FLAWED. I understand why people love Snape as a character and I believe that is completely valid even though I do not love him as much myself. I also think that the author who will not be named did a pretty shitty job on Snape's redemption arc, but I can appreciate it for what it should have been. Really, this comes down to bad writing on her part. We should have gotten a much better and more fleshed out redemption for Snape (and better character motivation for that matter). We should have had Harry reckon a little more with the Marauders as flawed individuals. Someone should have called Sirius out on his bullshit and someone should have called Snape out on his bullshit as well. But we didn't get that due to poor planning for the series.
What I'm trying to say is, I wish people would stop utterly trashing these characters in order to justify the shitty behavior of their favorite one, because they all suck as people.

Things I’ve written about Snape…
Snape is such an easy character to hate, which means such fun writing conversations between him and the marauders and Lily, especially in canon universe of Boys Don’t Cry & We Can Be Heroes :
Sirius
“Snivellus, grovelling in the shadows? How terribly unexpected,” he said, straightening his shoulders.
“Levicorpus!” said Snape.
The spell just missed him by a hair’s breadth.
“If you were dying to see my dick, Sniv, you could have just asked,” he said casually, hand reaching for the buttons on his fly.
Lily
“Why do you keep staring at Potter?”
Severus’ voice was seething. He was doing that thing that really annoyed her, where he pronounced the last syllables of every word very carefully, as though he was a nasty professor talking to a class of idiots, and it made him sound so pedantic and so painful. Lily felt herself blush furiously.
“I am not!” she said, elbowing him sharply.
“Ouch!” said Severus, rubbing his arm.
She had wonderfully pointy elbows.
“Well stop being a git then,” she said, sticking her chin in the air.
Remus
“What do you think you’re doing?” Snape said, looking at him with disgust.
“I’m sitting beside you, because Lily has decided to sit beside Peter, for a change,” Remus said politely, placing his books in front of him.
“I don’t want to sit beside you,” Snape said.
“Well, that makes two of us,” Remus said, keeping his tone mild.
James
“No chance, mate,” Potter said, wand by his side, as the creature Lupin bared its teeth and moved forwards.
“Get out!” Potter hissed at him. “I won’t be able to hold him off much longer!”
Snape pulled the door. Harder, panicking. Nothing.
“Push,” Potter’s condescending tone.
James
“You won’t get away with it this time, Potter, you and your precious friends! You’re finally going to get what you deserve! And the werewolf will get what’s coming to it, I hope it gets Azkaban- “
“Shut the fuck up, you bastard! It was your decision - Nobody made you go into the shack on a full moon at wand- point. You chose to. Did you have a fucking death wish? This is on you just as much as Sirius, you fucking, massive dickhead!”
Dumbledore
Severus prided himself on his ability to look neutral when his emotions were a maelstrom. It irritated the life out of him to have to wait until practically last to be seen by the Headmaster. After all, he had done nothing wrong, he had been practically killed by a maniacal werewolf, he had the right to everybody’s sympathy, he shouldn’t be feeling an ounce of guilt. Lupin should be sitting in Azkaban as we speak, he thought. And yet, the way that Dumbledore was looking at him was making him feel distinctly uncomfortable. His neck felt prickly, his face itchy. His lank, dark hair hung partly over his face, a curtain of security against the world. His hand involuntarily reached up to scratch the back of his collar, and he brought it back quickly under control.
“Severus,” began Dumbledore. “Is there anything you wish to tell me about your plans for this summer?”
Lily
“Lily, I could see you weren’t making good decisions for yourself, so as a friend I was forced to take the necessary steps to put an end to it. I can’t say it’s been fully successful, but at least I tried. You’ll thank me in the end. You must know I’m doing this because I-“
“Don’t you dare say you’re doing this because you care for me! Trying to control me, deciding who I can be friends with, who I should be allowed to go out with – none of it has anything to do with you being my friend,” she said, her finger nails digging into her palms, her chest heaving as she failed to stop her voice breaking. She seemed to grow in stature, while he felt himself shrinking. “Well it’s never going to happen, Severus, I’m never going to want to be with you that way, no matter what you do. So stay away from me, I mean it. And as for you being my friend, you ceased being one a long time ago, through your own choices.”
James
He half turned, and his mouth fell open as he watched Snape’s Patronus approach his stag - a beautiful, self-assured, noble doe. The doe stopped in front of the stag. It tried to move sideways as though to side-step him and get to Lily. The stag looked confused, staring at the doe but refusing to move.
“The fuck?” stammered James.
“Hang on a minute, hold your fuck – I’m the one annoyed about this. Is he trying to copy me? What does this mean?” said Snape, who sounded even more horrified than James.
“Copy you?” snorted James. “I conjure my Patronus first and you accuse me of fucking copying you? Are you thick as well as annoying?”
“I think we all know that the all brawn and no brain title- “ began Snape.
“And can I just state for the record your Patronus is smaller than mine?” interrupted James.
Sirius and Peter exploded in a fit of giggles, Emmeline and Dorcas joining in.
Snape and James stared at each other with loathing.
Probably my favourite (epilogue narrator):
The details of this entire episode are recorded elsewhere, but the outcome was that Snape was arrested and charged and lost his position in Hogwarts, much to everyone else’s relief.
What he did with himself after this is not on file, as it was of limited interest to most people.

The shack incident... Feat Marauders fandom being anti Sirius Black....
Honestly, I would really like to know how come it has become so prominent head canon to call it the Prank? I don't think the marauders referred to it as such canonically.....
Anyways, just thought of something.
Hermione, a muggleborn student in her third year, who didn't even have daily classes with Lupin, somehow became suspicious and within the span of a year unearthed Lupin's oh so big secret.
So, can it be possible that any decently observant person who has studied year 3 Syllabus at Hogwarts will know what he is....
Snape had been incessant about his want to know what Lupin does every full moon. Lily says that snape has a theory.
So can it not be that Snape got the final piece of puzzle from Sirius. BUT IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT. IT IS ABOUT HOW.
Because if we believe lily, his bff, he already has pretty serious conviction on as to what Lupin is doing.
He just thinks that it is marauder as a group who is doing it behind everyone's back and he thinks that only he knows. As teen kids often view themselves as smarter than adults..
He just needs to get a proof about his theory and Sirius handed it to him on silver platter.
So if this is true then the incident was never about Sirius being murderous because he too knew along with other marauders that Snape has a correct theory about Moony.
With all of snape's insistent following around, Sirius must have gotten frustrated and told him that if he is really so desperate to know, he should come see with his own eyes. Both knowing that Snape has come to the correct conclusion about Remus being a werewolf.
So, isn't Snape venturing into the shack not a murderous intent as all of the party has sufficient knowledge but a suicide mission to get Lupin and if possible the other three expelled....
James coming to save Snape is more about the animagous finding that Snape is that dumb and desperate to try his theory...
And people who say that Sirius betrayed Remus. No he didn't. Snape already knew. He was pretty adamant too. He just got no proof. But at the end of the day, I believe that all the marauders were pretty tired of Snape nosing around. And Lupin must be scared to death.
Infact, Lupin must have been relieved that Dumbledore barred Snape from revealing it. If before shack incident, Remus asked Dumbledore's help, what could the headmaster do? Because he is going against rules himself to make this happen. But this series of event gave Dumbledore the upper hand only because Snape entered a place the school has forbidden to enter, and risking his own life for getting proof of something he already knew about...
I can understand how Snape stans will use this against Dumbledore and Sirius and marauders. But how come the marauders faction began giving this incident so much of bad light to Sirius. Was it the wolfstar faction who wanted betrayal of a lover to up the angst in their story?
I don't see it as a betrayal of trust at all. So there is no food for conflicts within marauders. James coming to save Snape means Sirius tells James. Possibilities are that all the marauders knew Sirius sharing this little info module of the shack with Snape. And James just being on the right place at the right time to stop Snape when the dude actually showed up.
It can also be possible that Snape waited for 2-3 full moons after learning this and the marauders were like yeah he is an ass but at least a smart one. They maybe relaxing that he is off their back, only to one day realise that he can be that stupid when he is being petty...
We have the story about the prank but it was a basic version from Lupin who doesn't go into details. And i know that Sirius in poa makes some statement about how if Snape were to die it would have been good riddance----
BUT we are forgetting that here he is pretty much bullheaded. Maybe he is saying it as this post azkaban Sirius whose only goal of escaping prison was his godson. Maybe pre azkaban Sirius was not so callous. Maybe he made this statement in the heat of the moment....
And before Snape fans spam my post and comment section, this post is not to make you believe that my interpretation is correct and your is wrong. My beef is not with you... You live in your Snape la la land and hail him to the heavens...
I am not white washing Sirius. I know he can be cruel when he wants to. What James and he did in swm, I don't condone these actions. They were mean boys who wanted to show who is the boss by any means possible and in that scene I truly sympathize for a teen Snape because he may have given as good as he got, but no one deserves to be publicly humiliated and targeted in such a way only because you are bored. And to be said something so cruel by their bff to add cherry on the top.
I also believe that though his intent was never to kill Snape and use moony. That he believed snape as an equal in terms of his intelligent, so he never wanted this incident to reach the point it reached but i think he would have been okay if Snape was badly injured or died, IF only it let his friends go scout free AND that includes no emotional impact on lupin. He would be fine and dandy.
But he knew the mental toll it had on Remus so i don't believe his intent was what now broader population of fans make it seem because he cared for his people.
This post is about how come marauder side of fandom, who call themselves a fan and supporters, can actually see a complex character they claim to love as simply a person who showed murderous tendency as sixteen year old. Or that he was so vindictive piece of shit who paid no mind to others. Or that he was a clown with nothing for brains and can't keep a thing a secret.
Are you guys only Remus fan and not marauders fan?
I mean the biggest thing Remus Lupin achieved in his life is getting pity-ed. Not only from the characters within story but fans too. Poor Remus, he had it so rough already and add to that an evil friend who made him a murderer just so he can kill his teenage enemy....
It feels so watered down version of an actual incident which had grit to it and so much complexity and teenage angst.
Also if it is about him becoming a murderer because of Sirius then let me tell you that he was already pretty close to achieving it on his own free will when he had nightly adventure and close calls which Sirius with the other two prevented.
So it would have been okay if some nameless and faceless villager had died ? And it is betrayal when Snape despite knowing the truth enters shrieking shack, on his FREE WILL WITH A GOOD IDEA ABOUT WHAT HE WILL SEE.
