My life fucking sucks. I’m apparently a liar now for telling the truth about a fucked up thing my mom said to me and Archer when we were kids, and like, sure, I’m so lying, that’s how Archer remembers it too, and how we can give details. Sure. I also basically got told I was crying for attention despite, I don’t know, fucking having a seizure before I even got to talk to my rheumatologist about everything that’s wrong when I’m sure he could help me, then being forced into an ambulance, and wasting my entire god damn day in a hospital without food and getting dehydrated to get told, “You’re getting these because you’re mentally ill. Enjoy.” Not like that is suicidal thought inducing or anything. Fun. My mom also had the fucking audacity to say we’re in the same boat with our illnesses while I was the one suffering and in a hospital bed. She can still work! She can go out! I can’t work. I can’t go to school. I can’t fucking go out and have fun. Yeah, we’re in the same boat. Okay. She also told me I have to be out in a year so I have to start working on feeling better. I’m disabled, and what the actual fuck does she think I’ve been doing this entire time? Almost dying for fun? Oh, it’s so enjoyable being so sick that most of society, including your own mother, hates you. This is surely raking in the dough. Not enough dough? Fine, I’ll go fucking break my femur and be mistreated over it again for three months. How’s that?

The worst thing is that there is so much potential for exploring the horror of psych wards from the angle of medical abuse, ableism, forced treatment/drugging, loss of autonomy, power imbalance, demonization, dehumanization, etc, and YET the horror genre keeps defaulting to "insane asylums and psych wards are scary because there are mentally ill people in there"

This is just plain cruelty. It isn't punishment. This parent was looking for a way to HURT their child, not teach them. Besides at 9 yrs old they shouldn't have to be waking up by themselves.

It isn't even about how long it took him to create it or anything...it is about this parent deciding to emotionally injure their child to prove a point. Can't beat kids anymore, but they can emotionally injure them and call it discipline. It's a power trip.

My own story... when I was around this same age my step dad decided to teach my a lesson by throwing all my stuffed animals and sticker books in the fire. Because I didn't clean the way he thought I should.

I hated him.

They never did understand why I didn't want anything to do with him. He died a few years ago and I would have danced on his f*cking grave if he wasn't cremated. I didn't talk to my mother for years until AFTER he died.

So, so answer that dudes question. Yea, you TA because you cared more about hurting your kid and establishing power than actually caring for your kid.

Some parents really don’t understand the difference between actual discipline and hurting your kids. This teaches a kid nothing except needing to hide what makes them happy because they’re scared their parents will destroy it.
