How is it 2023, 4 seasons into succession and people are still pulling the “they’ve been awful people the whole time” take as if it’s something new? We know 😭😭 the whole show is an exploration of that and the reasons why they’re awful people. You are not smarter than everyone else for thinking they’ve been bad people the entire time. But if you have watched the whole thing and never empathised or sympathised with them ever, even just a little, then you are also not fully taking in the show as intended. You think we’re not supposed to feel sorry for and root for these people even a little bit? You think the writers don’t try extremely hard to make these characters as grounded and relatable as possible? Sorry but at this point the “actually I don’t feel for any of them bc I always knew they were villains” statements that are bandied around with an air of superiority make me think you just don’t have the mental capacity to understand something as nuanced as Succession, and you’ve been missing out on a huge aspect of it from the very beginning.

I tend to avoid responding to stupid comments on here, because arguing with strangers is a waste of time, but I felt the need to make an exception for this particular comment because well, it perfectly sums up my issues with Viv's fanbase.

The assumption that I'm only criticizing Viv for "clout" is laughable, as my most popular post on here is the one highlighting Over The Garden Wall's removal from Max.

So this idea that Viv and her shows are the only things I ever talk about is false, hell, I'd even go so far and say I've given David Zaslav more shit than I have Viv. But nobody is accusing me of hating on Zaslav for clout, now are they?

Also, Viv is a thirty year old woman, yet her fans still feel the need to shield her from any and all criticism because they view criticism as this horrible thing that needs to be stomped out.

Like I stated before in a previous post, I don't consider myself a part of the Hazbin/Helluva Critical Community, because I don't like getting involved in any online communities.

I don't follow any critical blogs, I'm not a part of any critical Discord server, and I don't get involved in any drama involving that community.

The most interaction I have with critical blogs is liking a couple of posts here and there. And the only reason I use the critical tags is because it makes it easier for people to find my posts.

You can insult me all you want, it won't change my opinion of Viv and her shows.
