Alternative Bat ship names
Some of the batship names leave much to be desired (as I somewhat mentioned here )I wanted to propose some new ones or bring awareness to ones I think should be more popular! My credentials are that I was a part of the RWBY fandom back in 2015 so
Pairing: Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
Original: DickBabs
Alternative: Nightwatch
"DickBabs" is not that bad tbh but also not at all creative. “Nightwatch” Was something I first saw on Spotify as a ship playlist name and thought it fit perfectly. "Night" is the first part of Dick’s hero name and watching the BatFam during patrol is kinda Barbara’s whole job description so it combines them both beautifully
Pairing: Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle
Original: BatCat
Alternative: Thieves Crusade
“BatCat” just feels too much like “CatDog” and I don’t want to associate them with that. Now the easy choice is to go "Black Cat" As it still fits them but that's not that much better creativity wise. "Thieves Crusade" Is fairly self explanatory with Selena being the thief and Bruce being the caped Crusader but is also Selena’s goal in a way
Pairing: Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown
Original: TimSteph
Alternative: Ultra Violet
Again, “TimSteph” isn’t the worse but it’s just so bland. "Ultra Violet" Is the name of an energy drink which while mostly fanon based does remind me of Tim and Violet is a shade of purple which is Stephs favorite color
Pairing: Damian Wayne and Nika
Original: DamiNika
Alternative: Knightshade
I just don't like the way "DamiNika" sounds. "Knightshade" would be said the same as "Nightshade" which is a poisonous plant. Damian is the heir to the mantle of the Dark Knight(something he use to point out often) and Nika's whole powers surround death so I feel like it can apply to them both
Pairing: Conner "Kon" Kent and Cassandra Cain
Original: KonCass
Alternative: Star-Crossed
"KonCass" could be worse but it also could be better, it also is a bit too close to "KonCassie" for me which is a whole other ship. "Star-Crossed" Is a bit more of a stretch but my reasoning is that DC had set their relationship to fail from the beginning so the phrase itself fits and also one of the only "dates" we really see of them in canon is when Kon takes her into the sky to see the stars and the clouds(Kon is also half ailen which can kinda apply here)
If anyone knows some other good ones please share! I'm not even saying these are particularly great, In fact I’m aware they’re not, but I just miss the fun shipnames so bad:(

The RWBY fandoms treatment of Adam makes me very uncomfortable
This is very long sorry I was rambling <3
There’s something really odd about the dedication RWBY fans have to hating Adam. So much so that they’ll admit the writing of the WF is racist but refuse to admit that Adam a member of the white fang also suffered from that racist writing.
There’s this weird dedication to pretending there are no problems with the choices made around Adams character and vilifying literally everyone who tries to talk about it, for the sake of continuing to blindly hate him. The fandom seems to struggle with understanding that the show is fictional and everything that happens in it is a direct choice of its writers. Y’all talk about Adam like he is a real person who has personally offended you irl. Just a huge lack of media literacy tbh.
A white man wrote a civil rights group, that he admittedly based off the black panthers, as the generic bad guys of his shitty anime knockoff and made a central theme of the show the idea that fighting against your oppression violently makes you just as bad if not worse than your oppressors. Then he mad the leader of that group a generic abusive meanie bad guy. Who essentially is what white supremacists think civil rights activist are all the way down to being the fictional equivalent of a black supremacist.
When there was backlash to this he made a knockoff Malcom X and then killed her in her only scene and made a character whose ideology is basically sit down and lick the feet of your oppressors and had the audacity to say he was based off of MLK. How the fuck do you base a character off of somebody without doing basic research on them because contrary to what people seem to believe MLK was not a doormat and this is a conversation for a different day but I’m sick and tired of his memory being weaponised against black people.
What’s worse is that Adam is the only character portrayed as actually doing something to fight racism. Ghira’s faction is only ever seen fighting against other groups. I don’t know if y’all know this but that’s not how the civil rights movement worked. Most of the leaders didn’t agree on methods but they coexisted because the main goal was the liberation of black people and they knew they had to coexist. MLK did not go around calling the cops on revolutionaries he disagreed with.
The problems with Adam and the WF are not separate and cannot be. Most of what’s wrong with the Faunus plot line is the way the show handles Adam. The choices made with his writing cannot be separated from those they made with the WF overall. Adams choice to kill his attackers to keep himself and other Faunus safe, from people literally trying to kill them, is treated the way it is because of the stance they took with WFs writing. When Adam kills a human supremacist trying to kill Ghira you’re supposed to see it as an extreme and the beginning of his turn to evil. Adam isn’t a real person every descisiom he makes is informed by the white writers of the show. Why would the bias they displayed writing the WF not apply to him?
Some of you have been abused and relate to Blake in that sense, a lot of you seem to be projecting your abusers onto Adam. I’m sorry you went through that but you are not excused from buying into racist rhetoric. It’s incredibly uncomfortable as a black person to watch people talk about how “healing” it was for them to watch a civil rights leader admittedly inspired by black people slapped around and killed by two white women. It is anger inducing to watch fans celebrate “queer representation” dancing on the corpse of a monumental disrespect to black people and our history.
RWBY doesn’t even handle abuse well tbh and most of the queer rep is not that great, there are many shows that do it so much better, there is actually no excuse for hanging on to the black people are bad for fighting against racism show.

ROUND 1D, MATCH 3 OUT OF 16!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Carrie:
Cinderella’s ball goes badly and she kills a town. What is there not to love?
Carrie is a horror retelling of Cinderella, look it up it's true
Cinder:
She killed her evil stepmother and stepsisters (technically they "adopted" her as slave labor and the narrative treats her as the villain for this but tbh out of all the things Cinder has done, this was the most justified)
She's my wife and I love her and she's also evil but it's okay
She does cool fire stuff and murders people but I think that can be forgiven
I love her. Jkjk uhm she's really cool and while a lot of people say she's an evil Cinderella she's more like a Cinderella who never gets saved and has to save herself. And she's so super cool and charming and a genius. And she kills people sometimes but it's okay because she's very very sad and I think more people should care about her.
Cinderella as a villainess! What if Cinderella wasn't saved by her fairy godmother and instead murdered her step-family and joined an evil witch terrorizing the world? Cinder Fall is a dangerous villainess who has helped topple kingdoms and will do anything to gain power.
This propaganda is just going to be me listing all the ways she fits her Cinderella allusion. Like all of the characters in RWBY, Cinder is an allusion to a character from fairy tales/legend/etc. In her case, CINDERella. She's one of the earliest and most important antagonists, although at first there wasn't a whole lot to connect her to the Cinderella story besides some surface-level references(her name, her superpower being the ability to create glass objects, that one part of the dance arc where she infiltrates a communication tower and has to be back to the dance by midnight when she transforms into a dress), but in the later volumes the Cinderella aspects to her character become way more clear. (spoilers for later parts of the show here on out) People have summarized this way better than I am about to, but basically: She came from an orphanage and was adopted by a wealthy family from from another kingdom(a mom and her two daughters), but was really only adopted so that she could do servant work at the prestigious hotel they owned. The "prince charming" in her story wasn't a romantic interest, but a huntsman(someone who fights the monsters in the world, a career all the main characters go to school to become) who frequents the restaurant in the hotel. He sees her being mistreated and secretly trains her so that when she's 17 she can apply to one of the combat schools and leave her "stepmother and stepsisters." Like all the villains, though, she's like a version of her allusion where things went wrong, so instead of being whisked away by "prince charming" to his world, she ends up in a position where she kills the "stepmom" and "stepsisters," "prince charming" tries to bring her in for murder bc it's his job, and she kills him too. Now a child with nowhere to go, she gets picked up by the main villain, Salem, who acts in the Cinderella allegory as the "fairy godmother" who uses magic to give her "freedom." Except the magic is a parasite monster that gives her certain abilities, most importantly the ability to take the powers of a very select kind of person that Salem needs. This "magic" also has a time limit like the dress and the carriage, except it's the fact that it's a parasite that's slowly consuming her. Cinder thinks she wants these powers because if she's powerful, she can secure her freedom, but has yet to see that Salem is just using her, making her the new "stepmother" in her story(she came close to realizing this, mentally comparing Salem to her "stepmother," but then turned around and threw herself into her quest for power even more). Some people also compare the other characters in Salem's inner circle to a new set of "stepsisters," especially with how none of them like Cinder and wished her good riddance during the period of time she was missing and possibly dead, and that there's subtle competition between all of them for Salem's approval, similar to how siblings can be with a parent. Some people have also said it's possible that Neopolitan played the new "fairy godmother" role during said time where Cinder was on her own, because Neo was able to help Cinder a lot with her illusion powers, including using them on an airbus("carriage"), which was also the scene where Cinder got her outfit change for the new arc. There is also a part in the Atlas arc where she lets the General know she was in his office by leaving a glass chess piece on his desk(like the glass slipper that Prince Charming identifies her with), when she fucked him over earlier in the show with a computer virus with a chess piece logo.
Literally explicitly based off cinderella yet somehow people were shocked when her backstory involved basically being a child slave to her "stepmother" and abused by her "stepsisters". She put up with their abuse for years until they finally crossed the line then she snapped and killed them. But now she's still being manipulated by another stepmother figure. She seeks power because she thinks it will give her freedom. She can shoot fireballs. She has the most outfit changes of anyone in the whole show. She's a poor little meow meow and a girlboss.

Hey Spoon, as someone with highly detailed, well-thought-out metas about RWBY, I would like to ask for your thoughts about two recent trends I have seen about Volume 9. Specifically, about Ruby and her breakdown.
First, there seems to be discussion about Ruby being a huntress as a bad thing? That the hunter system is toxic because it put Ruby in this situation in the first place, with a burden and stress on her shoulders? I don't agree, especially when WBY all triumphantly stated they were Huntress' to their past selves.
Second of all, people seem to have it out for the pep talks that Ruby has been given over the series? That the support and encouragement that Ruby has received over the series has done nothing but make her want to hide her trauma and bottle up her emotions, because people gave her pep talks, instead of directly saying 'Yeah its fine to feel bad'? Like, some of the comments they make is intriguing. Such as Ozpin's statement to Ruby - and from her to Jaune - about how a leader must always be their best self and put their teammates first basically, leading to them eventually breaking down as they are...
But its a bit unfair to say that every attempt to support and encourage Ruby over the show up until this point was worthless and meaningless, isn't it?
Note: I wrote half of this answer before episode 8. I honestly think this still all applies, so I have not changed it. Still, consider I am not discussing that much what happens there. That will have its own meta.
Hi!
Personally, I agree with your thoughts. I understand these takes and tbh I think several people are expressing them in different ways, framings and degrees.
That said, in this answer I am gonna consider them in their most extreme and simplistic form :)
Before I address them, though, here comes a short introduction on character arcs. Skip it if you already know these ideas.
CHARACTER ARCS AND THEME
Tumblr media
There are different ways to discuss characters and their arcs. Here I am looking at them specifically from a narrative lens by using theme to classify and analyze them.
Many of these ideas come from @septembercfawkes great posts. Here they are if you wanna read more on the topic:
In short, there are 2 types of character arcs:
The character makes a 180 degree change when it comes to the theme > change arc
The character doesn't change idea about the theme > steadfast arc
If the theme the character believes in by the end of the story is the narrative truth, then the arc is positive, while if it isn't then it's negative.
Some examples:
Ilia starts the story by believing violence is the only way for Faunus to gain freedom, but ends her personal arc by learning this isn't true. "Hate is not the answer". > This is the theme the story supports hence Ilia went through a positive change arc.
Adam starts the story by believing the violence done to him justifies his own violence on others. Blake keeps telling him this is wrong and gives him the chance to change. He refuses and keeps believing the false thematic statement. This is why he is defeated by Blake and Yang, who know trauma and violence do not define who you are (the true thematic statement). > Adam is a steadfast negative character.
Ironwood starts the Atlas Arc by wanting to trust (true thematic statement), but he ends it by giving in to control (false thematic statement). Similarly, he has a good heart and believes in humans, but by the end he refuses his own humanity. > He goes through a negative change arc
Pyrrha starts the story by believing destiny is one's final goal. She thinks hers is to become a hero. She ends her personal arc by dying a hero and choosing her own destiny. > The thematic statement she believes in is the one the story supports hence Pyrrha is a positive steadfast character.
This is the short version >
If you believe something false in the beginning, you have a positive arc only if you change.
If you believe something true in the beginning, you have a positive arc if you hold on to that truth.
This means the narrative is gonna challenge the change characters and steadfast characters in opposite ways:
If you need to change, the story is gonna test you to see if you can change and will punish you, if you don't
If you need to be steadfast, the story is gonna test you to see if you can keep believing into something even when everything goes wrong
Now, guess which kind of character Ruby is?
Tumblr media
RUBY IS A STEADFAST CHARACTER
Ruby believes the true thematic statement since the beginning:
"The world can be dark, but there is beauty in it and people should fight to protect it and make it better"
I don't think there is any doubt about this being true in the show. After all, the other MCs grow positively by starting to embrace this viewpoint.
What about Ruby, then?
She is steadfast, so for her the challenge is to keep believing in it even when everything goes wrong. Like at Beacon. Like in Atlas.
But wait! Ruby's viewpoint is flawed and she is breaking because of her unhealthy coping mechanism!
Yes, but this doesn't mean she isn't steadfast. Steadfast characters actually do grow a lot. Sometimes even moreso than change arc characters.
Do you remember Simba from the Liong King? Well, he is a steadfast character.
The Lion King's main theme is the Circle of Life > everyone has a role to play in this cycle
Simba believes this in the beginning and can't wait to be king!
Simba believes Mufasa is dead because of him, so he runs away and gives up the theme. He starts living with Timon and Pumba, 2 outcasts and he even eats insects (aka goes against nature) > he stops believing in the Circle of Life
Nala, Rafiki and Mufasa's ghost remind Simba of his role, so Simba starts believing in the true theme again
Simba defeats Scar and becomes King taking his place in the Circle of Life
As you can see, Simba grows a lot, but he is still steadfast because he knows the true theme since the beginning. It is just that he loses sight of it and needs to re-learn it.
This isn't all, though. What Simba does is more than just remember the theme. By the end he acquires a stronger understanding of it. This is because of 2 reasons:
He adheres to it despite all the obstacles, which makes the theme stronger and deeper.
He has a change arc when it comes to a secondary theme > responsibility.
Simba is initially irresponsible, but by the end he becomes responsible. This secondary theme feeds the main one > Simba's role in the Circle of Life is to be King, but this doesn't mean he will be able to do whatever he wants. Quite the opposite, being King means you have responsibilities. Simba learns this and so he gets to understand the Circle and his role in it better.
Well, something similar is going to happen with our Little Red Riding Hood.
BEING A HUNTRESS
Tumblr media
Ruby used to be the embodyment of a Huntress:
Yang: I'm not like Ruby, she's always wanted to be a Huntress. It's like she said, ever since she was a kid, she'd dreamt about being the heroes in the books. Helping people and saving the day, and never asking for anything else in return.
Still, she has right now forgotten what being a Huntress means:
Ruby: Fight… monsters, I guess? I’m sorry, I don’t understand why this matters.
Being a Huntress means to help others, but Ruby answers Herb confusely and mentions "killing monsters" instead. Now, it is not that Ruby doesn't know what being a true Huntress means, but rather it is she has forgotten it.
Why is that so?
Tumblr media
It is because the Shadows have slowly been eating at her to the point she can't ignore them anymore. All the stress, the horrors and the grief Ruby has been repressing have engulfed her. She literally can't see anything else anymore. She is so focused on Salem, on how monstruous and scary she is, she can't really see the witch is just a person. Not only that, she is forgetting that the point isn't to destroy Salem, but rather to protect lives:
Blake: Huntresses are heroes. We protect those who can’t protect themselves.
If she stays in the shadows she is gonna turn like Ozpin, like Ironwood and like Salem herself (symbolically). Still, how can she come out?
I think that when it comes to Ruby, she has to learn a secondary theme:
Maria: Interesting… Perhaps there was something that you just weren't seeing?
SILVER EYES - IDEALISM AND EMPATHY
Tumblr media
Ruby's main attribute is her Silver Eyes, which are metaphors for themes and inner attributes. So far, I think the Silver Eyes mean 2 things:
Idealism > Ever heard of Wide Eyed Idealists? Yep, those are the Silver Eyed Warriors in a nutshell. The way the eyes work is literally that they reflect the light of the world (like the Moon mirrors the Sun). The SEW can use them only if they believe life is beautiful and worth protecting. This is why the way things are now Ruby is gonna have a hard time using them again.
Empathy > Ever heard of looking at the world through shades of gray? Maybe shades of silver is more accurate here :P But yeah, the Silver Eyes are probably gonna reveal new power and strength once the theme of empathy is gonna be explored more. After all, what does it mean to see the light in the darkness, if not to look at the most monstruous people and realize they are well... people? Isn't it like seeing the person (light) behind the monster (darkness)?
Let's highlight idealism and empathy are 2 secondary themes linked to Atlas (Creation > the Shallow Sea) and Vacuo (Destruction > the Judgement of the Faunus).
Atlas explores trust, which is a declination of faith (Trust Love)
Vacuo is set up to explore empathy - Shade references the shadow, Coco needs to take off her shades to see others properly and Vacuan students throws shades at the Beacon/Haven newcomers
What does it mean for Ruby?
Ruby has been using her eyes by relying on her child-like optimism and hopeful self. Still, this mechanism can't keep on working forever. It is too psychological vexing and simplistic. I honestly think the way forward for her is to develop a new found idealism, which is more rooted into a more mature empathy.
You don't need to ignore the shadows to see the light. Rather, the light found in shadows is brighter than ever.
This is the secondary theme Ruby needs to learn in order to gain a deeper understanding on the main one she already knows, but has forgotten. This is where she needs to go if she wants to re-affirm the main theme.
OTHERS HELPING RUBY
Well, I think the topic is already addressed this last episode:
Weiss: Maybe she didn't feel like she could... Ruby has always been the one to get us through the hard times. We say things like "We believe in you!" "We can count on you!" I know we mean well, but..."
I don't think what Weiss says in the episode means all the encouragement they have offered Ruby was wrong to begin with tbh. It is just that the right words for a specific situation might be wrong for another.
Ruby has been helped and loved by her teammates. Weiss's encouragement helped her becoming a good leader. Yang's love supported her. Blake and Jaune's admiration and loyalty helped her push through in difficult times. It is just that the Ruby right now doesn't need it anymore.
Her own coping mechanism is not functional anymore, which means she needs to develop another one and others need to realize it.
Which leads us to some generic thoughts on coping mechanisms...
COPING MECHANISMS
Coping mechanisms are neither good nor bad really. They are simply mechanisms we come up with in order to survive and push through. They can be functional or dysfunctional. Even better... they can be functional for a while and then they can start not fitting anymore.
RWBY as a story makes full use of this to the point characters' main flaws turn out to be their major strengths and vice versa. This is pretty well conveyed through semblances:
Weiss's semblance initially represents her dependance on her family name. As she grows, though, it becomes symbolic of her own individuality:
Tumblr media
And right now, she has discovered a new found strength in her family (team RWBY plus her siblings). The idea that Weiss's strength comes from her bonds with others was never wrong, but initially it is applied in a dysfunctional way. As she grows, she gains a deeper understanding of this part of herself and she gets to shine.
2 Blake's semblance represents her tendency to tun away. Still, as she grows, she realizes that it also represents her ability not to break despite the abuse and the violence:
Tumblr media
Not only that, but even her own coping mechanism to run away from an abuser is re-framed. She did the right thing by running away from Adam... it is just she should not let this tendency of hers to control her life completely. Sometimes running is fine, while other times it is better to stand your ground and fight.
3 Yang's semblance represents her tendency to use her losses, her wounds and defeats to grow stronger. It also represents her recklessness and her self-sacrificial tendencies. This is why its use is toned down, as she grows. In exchange, she gains a better understanding of what growing up despite one's losses means:
Yang: No. My losses, my failures. Those more than anything are what have shaped me into who I am, showed me how I need to grow.
It is also probable we will see this new-found wisdom reflected into her semblance eventually:
Tumblr media
Ruby is the same... it is just we see her strengths rather than her flaws initially:
Tumblr media
She is fast, so fast she even skips grades. She is smart and a quick-thinker.
Tumblr media
She is flexible and resourceful and pushes through obstacles.
Tumblr media
She is a leader able to carry everyone else...
And yet, she is also running away from her feelings...
Tumblr media
And she is also spreading herself too thin for others...
Tumblr media
Until she can't anymore...
Ruby, like everybody, is a mix of positive and negative traits. Not only that, but her most positive traits are her flaws and her weakness is her strengths.
She needs to do what the others have done with her help. She needs to gain a deeper understanding of herself and of who she wants to become. Only in this way she can re-affirm herself with a deeper awareness, so not to break down again.

So how penny returne would actually help jaune ruby and winter (genius quation)
So my thoughts on that is that Penny always was this kind of representation/embodiment of hope, especially for Ruby but also for the world. This was reinforced in Volume 9, with the auction scene in Chapter 2 (Jinxy asking Ruby "enough hope to fill this jar", especially to get the jade marionette that is actually Penny's blade in disguise, and a bit later when she talks about Penny to the guards, "she sent a message of hope to the stars"). Even when she was introduced in earlier volumes, she had in mind that "one day, it'll be her job to save the world". Penny's theme is surely about choice and freedom, but it's also about hope and about believing, about having the light, and her return kinda served that purpose for Ruby to me. Ruby spent like 2 years trying to accept Penny's death and to mourn her, and Volume 6 was a dark volume considering everything they learned about Salem, the Relics, Ozpin, etc. Even at the beginning of Volume 7, with Ironwood paranoia and Atlas being in high alert, things weren't looking very promising. But suddenly we meet Pietro, Penny's father, and then we see Penny herself again bringing back this positive tone to the story and to the city. Because let's be honest, Mantle is a very dark city and seeing Penny like that was really a contrast in there.
So for Ruby, I'm also thinking about the many parallels and similarities between Little and Penny, who basically serve a similar role to our main character as well. This small and pure soul, only wanting to have friends and help, to protect and guide their friends along the way. Little died too under Ruby's nose, but they came back as Somewhat and we see at the V9 finale how much it brought back Ruby's spark once again. Ruby was kind to Little just like she's been kind to Penny one day, and they both played their part acting like Ruby's hope, Ruby's light. For Ruby, I kinda see Penny as a final hope restored, when everything else crumbles then maybe this could be one of the last thing that could bring the spark back again. I'd like to believe Penny could play this part during the final parts of the RWBY story and main series, I'm not really sure how or when but I see it as a climax. We got too much hints about reincarnation and returning in V9 for them to be ignored for me, and I do hope this wasn't just here for nothing or only for Ruby's character during V9.
Penny sure died wanting to choose the next Maiden, because she knew they didn't have the time for any other option. Her life was suddenly cut after we got hope again that things could actually work with Ambrosius. But Little's life was cut short too and because they're Afteran, no one really complained about the problem of balance, reincarnation. But if they weren't Afteran, would people react the same way ? Tbh I think so, maybe because they were a character only present this volume (maybe we could see them again someday :] ). If Penny was Afteran, would people complain about her reincarning ? If the rules of the Ever After and ascension also applied to humans, would people be mad for Penny returning ? I know that for a lot of people Penny served in her arc, people think that it's completed, but I personnally don't think that's really the case but I could talk about it in another post.
For Jaune, I don't really know specifically how her returning could "help" Jaune : I think it's also nice to remember that even if each character have a purpose in the show, they also have their own arc and lives and they can also evolve for themselves. I already gave reasons for Ruby who's the main character, for Jaune I think this could also serve a similar purpose, + Penny could become a part of team JNPR. Penny's deaths involved both Pyrrha and Jaune everytime, I think it would be nice to explore the connection and parallels between all of these characters.
As I mentioned in other posts too, I think Penny and Nora's friendship is adorable and I would love to see them interact more as a new team JNPR.
For Winter, I think that it would simply really be interesting Winter allowing herself to be more human, while Penny literally discovers her full humanity (if she's in a human body, because of the empirical experience etc). Just see them explore emotions, support each other, create deeper bonds and help people, they could discover the world and grow up together.
I'm gonna stop there for tonight and will answer other asks tomorrow, but I hope this can help to visualise my ideas for Penny's story. Not mentioning also just the fact that she's based on Pinocchio, and that Pinocchio is revived several times and even the last time when he sacrifices himself. :]
Oh, and I personally do think there's potential for Penny to be Ruby's love interest, but that's my opinion.

I don’t understand how some people are mad at Charlie for mentioning (praising) Monty when….when the Bee’s kissed….they instantly brought up the whole “good romance is earned” tweet/thing to shove down peoples throats that the kiss was “planned from the beginning.” …idk seems pretty hypocritical to me. Is it hypocritical to you?
Honestly fans are always a little hypocritical when it comes to the belief that you should not ever use a dead man's name or talk about his intentions when you aren't a hundred percent sure of them and didn't know the man in question, because some rwby fans use 'Monty's vision' as much as they think rwde posters do and pass around screencaps of tweets of his in order to try to make critics shut up. Like, none of us knew Monty Oum, none of us know what he'd want for sure, none of us know for sure if he was closer to Shane Newville or Miles Luna, none of us know exactly what he 'planned from the beginning' and most of what we hear about the plans for rwby is hearsay from either the people currently working at RT or people like Shane Newville.
To be completely honest - and I'm going to be as sensitive as I can when I say this - I don't believe in the idea that people shouldn't be able to criticize someone just because they're dead. I try not to bring up Monty Oum too much because I know it's upsetting for some people, but I did not know him and I don't feel any more obligated to be nothing but nice towards him than I'd feel the need to be nice to Jane Austen or Gene Roddenberry, or any media creator if they died tomorrow. However, I do think people ought to be careful about talking about the intentions of dead media creators (not that they shouldn't do it at all but they should just be careful,) because... They're dead, so they can't speak about it to confirm or deny what other people are supposing they thought or wanted. But that one hundred percent applies to everything. That applies to 'everything that happens in rwby is something Monty Oum planned/would've liked' just like it applies to 'Monty Oum never would've wanted this/wouldn't like this.' That applies to 'you are not allowed to criticize the rwby writers because Monty Oum said not to be mean to his friends' just like it applies to 'you shouldn't doubt Shane Newville because Monty Oum said not to be mean to his friends.' That applies to 'Monty Oum wouldn't have wanted bumbleby and he would've confirmed this other ship' and it also applies to 'Monty Oum loved bumbleby and laid out the plan for them getting together right at the start.'
But yeah, tbh, the really weird thing here is that as far as I can tell, that youtuber who criticized rwby was just like "I liked this when Monty was more involved and now I don't like it" and people are screaming about him taking Monty's name in vain? And that's... Not good. Just so we're clear, they're angry that someone... Praised Monty Oum's work, and then admitted that they don't like what rwby became? That's illegal now? That's worthy of being attacked? That made him a free target people could say slurs to and send death threats? That is far more disgraceful behavior imo than a youtuber just saying their opinion.

Need a friend who is as equally rwby and bungo stray dogs trash as I am so I can make comparisons between the characters in each series without it making no sense lol
Gonna just list off a few comparisons I have in my head below the cut because I just need to talk about it lol.
There is a spoiler or two for the most recent bsd manga chapter (114.5). And some for the last couple seasons of RWBY but I'm not naming names and also that's been out for a while now
With Fyodor's ability revealed, he's like if Oz and Salem had been combined into one person but Salem's moral code won out over Ozma's
I can even make a comparison to the RWBY relics with the end of chapter 114.5 like come ON, he combines three basically god given things and seemingly is about to destroy the world with the power they create together
A main character who is literally a cat
(side character who is literally a cat)
*vague Storm Bringer spoiler* Teenage redheads experiencing a soul-related identity crisis over whether they're even human enough to call themselves one (and end up needing to save the world at the cost of confirming it)
Characters are inspired by literature and literary figures (mostly at least. in rwby some are historical figures like Joan of Arc)
Horribly mistreated orphan antagonist obsessed with power and strength and the praise of a horrible role model because at one point that horrible role model was the only thing that gave them a reason to live
Found family, like so much found family
Characters who abandoned the criminal organization they were a part of to become a good guy because the (literal or figurative) loss of a loved one made them realize they needed to escape
(figurative as in like in RWBY Adam was very much alive when Blake ran away, but the version of him she thought was good was definitely long dead by then and that was the trigger for her to defect)
Individualized powers that only some people have!
Redhead with a power that lets them control metal
The big bad keeps getting out big-baded by a bigger bad as the story goes
Giant terrifying sky whale capable of destroying the city
Terrible (and now dead) father figures
Unexpected immortality!
Beloved character and their beloved motorcycle
Cool team attacks that the fandom loses their shit over every time
I'm sure I could come up with more, but at this point I'm kind of stretching for it. I'm sure some of these can apply to several different series tbh

First of all CONGRATS for finishing! It could not have been easy (I say as I remember all the times you were sore, bruised, and/or sick while trying to write a chapter LIKE BRUH), especially when each and every chapter is god tier. Seriously homie, you’re amazing!!
But FOR REAL WTF?? these dudes keep working after having infiltrated a massive fucking whale, stopped a Grimm invasion, got exploded to bits, and fought an immortal milf? Babes pls get some. Idk. SLEEP.
Naw but i really do love to see it. Also especially love to see how much they support each other through it 🥹 honestly the highlight of the chapter for me.
GOD like this moment when all of RWBY hug is HNNNNGSOZHBEHAOXH
Blake and Weiss joined the hug by some unspoken signal. Ruby melted into their embrace like so many petals and Blake's heart melted with her. "I missed you guys."
THEY ARE FAMILY OKAY AND I JUST GXHWIYZBXOYWNJ
Ruby is being particularly adorable too (the carrots line killed me 💀) but also like GURL YOU ARE LITERALLY BLIND RN STAY IN BED??
Yang nodded. "We'll get through it. Speaking of getting through things…can we talk?"
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yang shuddered at her touch. Their lips brushed when Blake continued: "Let's skip that part this time."
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
THOSE TWO ARE SO *frantic arm gestures* YKNOW??? Im happy they got a happy ending because yeah I doubted it for sec okay 😩
LMAO at the reoccurring Oscar interruption but wait FUCK THE KID IS FUCKING DYING?? UGH god I didn’t expect the Oscar and Ozpin thing to hurt as much as it did. Ozpin deserves good things too dammit whyyy 😭😭
GODDAMN Adam and Blake conversations are always so top tier is2g. There’s something I love so much about this conversation brooo. Blake’s resolve and care towards him just 🥹 UGH. her unwavering stares? Easily expressed gratitude? Instant forgiveness (nothing to really forgive cuz like corruption feels like shit and pretty violating and traumatizing tbh fr but she does it anyway to help him feel better ANDANDAND—)? THE LETTER???
OWHXISOWHXNIWOEUDNCKEIHWKFIW I JUST LOVE IT WHEN SOMEONE CARES ABOUT HIM AND HE FEELS IT OKAY
And FUCK I love this part
He swallowed and looked away, unsure how to respond to that. He didn't want to say "You're welcome," because they weren't, and this was never going to happen again. Even if, in some small corner of his heart, the knowledge that he'd helped to save the world like some kind of fantasy hero radiated a gentle heat that would warm him for a long time to come.
YOU DIDNT HAVE TO GO THAT HARD HOMIE IM ALREADY CRYIN 😭
Also LIVING for Neo and Adam team up. Neo’s expressive mannerisms are genuinely so fun to read UGH it’s PERFECT. And the “Don’t stay too long” for Qrow OAISBXOIENWOWIDN
He clipped Blush to his belt and let the spark flare unhindered.
Homie when I tell that IM FUCKING LIVING FOR THISS
"'Part of starting over is saying goodbye. You were first; now it's my turn. If you want to, you'll see me again.
"'Goodbye, Blake.'"
OWJDNEOWHNDDIJENEIDNXIEUWNDIFUENEIDIXJNWO IM EMOTIONAL
wait omfg I think I forgot to mention to Jaune 💀 I don’t hate him I swear The way his semblance and aura are practically working against each other is a REALLY interesting and nice touch, and i don’t think ive ever seen it applied like this. And I love his “i went from nothing to nothing line” and how he’s just so glad he was able to save somebody. 🥹 it captured that part of his character so well and tbh the same goes for all the others (me @ ruby rn is going “bitch is you BLIND”). It’s a really neat touch to the chapter!!
I can't tell if you've read the epilogue yet, but either way I am injecting every keysmash in this message directly into my veins. Your reviews were one of the things I most looked forward to when writing a new chapter - I was excited to see which lines you'd specifically comment on. You're probably at least 20% of the reason this story got finished at all lol.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for never failing to bring a smile to my face when commenting 😊

I feel like with this fairy tale world thing either one of two things are gonna happen when they eventually, inevitably get out (because that much is obvious) and either or could create some interesting plotlines moving forward.
A) they get out and like 5 mins has past or some shit. Day tops. But it's after a whole bunch of things just happened to them and they've (mainly ruby as that "stop pretending we know what we're doing" talk kinda broke me a lil) mentally aged a lot in the span of a real world day and it throws everyone off.
B) they get out and a lot of time has passed. Maybe it's been like a few days to them but it's been months possibly years in the real world which would be interesting in regards to aging up Oscar. But also could you imagine Qrows reaction to that?! I kinda hope this ends up being the case tbh. Especially narratively, because I think the story needs a serious time jump if I'm honest, even if said time jump doesn't apply to the main rwby group. I do think, as much as I still enjoy the show, that it has stagnated a lil in certain parts and I think having a world altering time skip may fix that.

well well my keyword for you is: magic system. do you have one and is it hard, soft, something in between??? tell me about it :D. also hope your day has been nice <3<3<3<3<3
I'm pulling from the jaykyle fantasy au that's been gathering dust in my docs for ,, nearly 6 months now lmao!! but I'm super proud of the magic system I built for it and tbh I love it so much I might implement some aspects of it into some og fantasy stories I have because it's sooo <333
it's.....somewhere between hard and soft, I think. like. the system is built around color (like lantern rings), so certain "colors" of magic can do things that other colors can't, but even then there are exceptions. there's some really big, very fundamental, completely unbreakable laws that apply to all magic types, and there are smaller rules that might apply to only a few and that could be bent/worked around if so desired, so I think it's a solid mix between hard and soft <3
every main lantern color is a specific type of magic, but colors can also be combined to make subtypes (kind of like how some firebenders can also redirect lightning in avatar the last airbender).
red = blood magic
orange = alchemy
yellow = mind magic
green = glyph/construct magic
blue = healing magic
indigo = flora/fauna magic
violet = star magic
black = death magic
white = life magic
blood magic at its core is the most powerful when the user draws his own blood, but some groups of blood mages have started using the blood of other people/animals which isn't as effective but its easier to harvest someone else's blood than your own. mind magic basically means that a yellow mage can manipulate someone with hallucinations, visions, or even by tampering with their emotions. green magic creates constructs, and the more powerful green mages can make glyphs that have gravitational/propulsion properties (inspired by these glyphs from rwby). indigo mages can control plants and animals, and each mage usually specializes in one over the other. star magic draws power from the sun and stars, and some mages literally suck the life from the stars to power their magic.
red/orange = blood alchemy
red/yellow = earth magic
red/green = air magic?
red/blue = water magic
red/indigo = fire magic
red/violet = storm magic
red/black = hollow magic (sucking life from living things for spells)
orange/yellow = academia magic (spellbooks, chalk circles, etc)
orange/green = trick magic (illusions)
orange/blue = advanced healing magic (slowing aging, replacing limbs, etc)
orange/indigo = herb potions
orange/violet = constellation magic (star positions)
orange/black = death alchemy
yellow/green = creation magic (creations with minds of their own but no souls)
yellow/blue = soul magic
yellow/indigo = animal magic (channeling animal auras)
yellow/violet = emotion magic
yellow/black = terror magic
green/blue = repair magic
green/indigo = growth magic
green/violet = summoning magic
green/black = dark glyph magic (using your own or other life forces to power glyphs)
blue/indigo = healing magic (specializing in plants/animals)
blue/violet = clairvoyance magic
blue/black = aura magic
indigo/violet = celestial magic (sun and moon)
indigo/black = decay magic
black/white = lazarus magic
I'm still not sure how the main strains of color magic coincide with the combinations, but ideally a red mage would be able to at least dabble in all the red combinations. the rules get kinda bendable on the individual color level, but the overall sphere of magic has some very strict fundamental laws. the biggest and most important: everything has an equal and opposing force. black magic is very powerful and terrifying, but white magic is just as powerful, and they cancel each other out. no spell is completely invincible from other spells, because no matter how many safeguards there are, there will always be something that can counteract.
send me a keyword and I'll tell you something from my brain (aus, ocs, etc) that relates to it

Rating: Explicit
Archive Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Category: F/F
Fandom: RWBY
Relationship: Weiss Schnee/Yang Xiao Long
Characters: Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao Long, Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose (RWBY)
Additional Tags: Smut, Fluff, Beach Sex, Day At The Beach, they deserve it tbh, Weiss is a little self conscious, Yang helps with that, Also this turned into bees schnees at the end, whoops
Summary:
Weiss was nervous to say the least. She wasn't much in comparison to the rest of her team, but Yang had been so enthusiastic about a team RWBY bonding trip to the beach, she couldn't say no. Weiss loved that smile Yang got when she had an idea.
So that's what led to Weiss plucking at the straps of the bikini top Yang had picked out for her. It was modest enough, the bottoms having something of a short skirt covering it. She liked that, it gave her a little bit more modesty.
Still, Weiss was nervous. Which is dumb because she's literally faced off with Salem before, a bathing suit should not make her this jittery. So with one more deep breath she steels herself and walks out of the changing room.
-
24, freezerburn beach trip “I could just pull your bikini bottoms to the side, no one will notice”
@speamyraven I know it's not the 15th there but it is here so I'm counting it. Happy birthday I did the thingy you wanted

I Have Two Sisters?! Chapter 1: Three Sisters and The Bastard Father (An LWAxRWBYxStarira Crossover)
A/N: What’s crazier than me writing a crossover I can’t get out of my head at 2am while still having multiple wips?
Writing a three-way crossover until 3am!!! (Ended at nearly 5am tho)
GAHHHHH.
Btw, this is a non-magic au. So Diana has no magic, and Weiss has no… semblance. Yes. Because the world of RWBY always goes “???!! OHMG, magic?!” Quite ironically. They become impressed at people turning into birds, but never flinch at Ruby who can separate herself on a molecular level. Sure.
I’ll be updating this sporadically, tbh. The updates will be as random as the coming of this idea. I do like it a lot, so I look forward to working on it. Just have to prioritize the wips.
[DO CHECK OUT THE END NOTES FOR SOME OF THE AU DETAILS AND BACKGROUND]
Still, I couldn’t let the concept pass me by so…
Enjoy?

I Have Two Sisters?! Chapter 1: Three Sisters and The Bastard Father
The wind blew strong outside, rain water cold against her bleeding cheek. The numbness was her only relief from pain nowadays. She’d lost count of how many bruises she’d gotten this week. If only her mother hadn’t passed… If only she hadn’t had a bastard of a father.
Then maybe Diana’s life would have been much better than the shell that it now was.
He left her and her mother just as she turned three, the only support she got in the form of random gifts and her financial needs. Her father was nothing of a father. The man that… helped make her was never there. He never showed he cared. Everything he gave her felt obligatory. She hated it. Heck, she didn’t even know his last name, much less remember what he looked like. She did try looking it up at some point, but it seemed as if he was some kind of bigshot she couldn’t name.
Neither her mom nor her aunt had divulged his identity, so she had long since drew a blank to the man’s identity. All she knew was that his name was ‘Jack’ or something of the sort. She had long since adopted her mother’s as it didn’t feel right to take the name of a man she never knew.
All she knew was that he was the cause of all her sorrows. That wretched man had left her and her mother to fend for themselves. Even though her mom was of a strong, well-known medical lineage here in Britain, the fact that she had gotten pregnant out of wedlock labelled her as a shame to the Cavendish name, and she had been cast out to a vacation home in the outskirts of the foreign country, Japan.
After her death, however, the women who Diana now saw as practically witches with how cruel and evil they were decided that because their blood ran through her, took over their small land that she and her mother had cried blood and tears to call their own, and exploited the underage girl, believing she might be of some use as a pawn at the very least, for the sake of the Cavendish name.
And she was. For some time, until she had injured her arm, and was no longer capable of becoming the kind of doctor they wanted her to be, her hand slowly losing its immaculate dexterity, becoming constantly shaky, rendering her as only half the worth she originally was, and thus completely useless besides being their punching bag. Quite literally.
Diana Cavendish found herself spending the better part of her life being abused, and hiding in tool sheds, and escaping her dreaded household at every waking moment, just as she was doing right now.
She hardly believed in any religion, but she found herself always praying to get away from this hellish nightmare. She’d hope that even if she only had a jerk of a father, he’d soon realize that she was his flesh and blood that needed saving.
A hard knock came on the wood of her shed’s door. She flinched, no sound escaping. Had they found her?!
“Miss Cavendish? Miss Diana Cavendish? Are you in here?” An unfamiliar voice called for her, bold and confident sounding, but with kindness and worry interlaced. She felt like it was someone she should respond to. The situation felt like it was some kind of divine calling she should answer.
With legs shaking, she stood up, unlatching the bar that held the door closed and stepping out into the now late night that reeked of hot pavement, rain having stopped while she was lost in thought.
A police officer, clad in uniform and raincoat smiled at her in pity. She was both grateful for- and hated- that gaze. She wished it had come sooner, but at the same time, she disliked being thought of as sad and pathetic.
“Your aunt and her family have been arrested, Miss.” Her ears perked up at the voice and the message they conveyed. Looking up from the ground, she stared into the truthful eyes of the cop. “You’re safe now.”
And she truly hoped she was.
  //-//-//-//-//
  “Weiss.”
At the mention of her name from that familiar voice, she rolled her eyes internally, holding in the urge to snap at the man she called ‘father’.
“What.”
Maybe her control wasn’t as good as she thought.
“Don’t give me that tone. I know you hate me, but I am still the one that raised you!”
“You mean, you’re the one that paid for me.” The ex-heiress pointed out. Her father gritted his teeth, frown deepening as he stepped forward in an attempt to exert his dominance.
Weiss only raised a brow in challenge.
“Anyway.” Jacques continued. Weiss would have smirked as he neither acknowledged nor denied her statement, but she felt it wasn’t the best time. “You are yet to turn twenty, and as you aren’t considered an adult yet-“
“But I’m nineteen, father.” Weiss stated, confused, her raised brow now raised in question. “I’m of legal age, to drink even.”
“Not in Japan you aren’t.” He replied with a smirk so evil, Weiss would have loved to slap it right off if her mind wasn’t thrown in a state of emergency, dreading whatever plans her father had. Even if she wanted to do as she pleased, she couldn’t completely go against him as she was at the moment. Their family name was too widespread and known in the business world, and she feared the consequences of running away from her father who currently had her safety- and practically her life- in the palm of his hand.
“What are you planning.” She narrowed her eyes at him, fearing for the worst, but expertly masking that fear.
“I’ll be sending you away, just as you’ve always wanted. I’ve prepared you an apartment close to a school of my choice to pursue the arts as you so strongly desired,” He spoke in a mocking tone. “And I’ll let you have your way there.” He ended with a smile that sent chills down Weiss’ spine. It sounded too good to be true, her dream being accepted like this. It was like a carrot on a stick being waved in front of her, only to always be out of reach.
“What’s the catch?”
“Catch? My, Weiss, my child, are you questioning your father’s benevolent heart?”
“What’s there to question?” Weiss shot back. “You don’t have one, now do you?”
She grinned at her little victory as she watched him gnashing his teeth, clearly seething in anger. Her smile dropped however as he gave her his own.
“I mentioned Japan’s legal age before.”
And Weiss already knew what he meant.
  //-//-//-//-//
Life in Seishou had been the dream. Her first two years of high school were the peak of her life, she’d proudly say. She had wonderful friends and comrades who battled side-by-side, pushing one another to greater heights, and… she had someone she adored just a little more than friendship allowed. She had never admitted it, though. Then, a school back in Paris, the place where her mother had blossomed as an actress in the past, offered her a scholarship as an exchange student there.
And like she always did, Claudine excelled. So much so that multiple colleges offered her full rides to attend their institutions. Even highly prestigious universities. Her opportunities were broad, her future looking bright-
-And then news came. Her mother had fallen terminally ill.
She had to go back. She had to see her. She had to be by her side as long as possible.
She had to repay her for the love, for the dream she had given Claudine. She had to be the family her mother had been for her in the absence of a biological father she never knew, and the loss of her adoptive Japanese father at an early age. The lack of a male figure in their family was no cripple to Claudine, but she also missed the presence of the man she knew as her papa. She knew her maman missed him too.
So she had to do this for her mother.
She had to… in the event that… she’d lose her soon as well.
God forbid, Claudine prayed.
She had to return to Japan, study and… get a job, find some way to help her mother pay the increasingly expensive hospital bills, their little family’s saved money steadily disappearing.
She wondered if she should just drop school all together and apply for a troupe. Earn both money and experience.
She had enough rapport both in Japan and France. She could probably get enough opportunities, and she would succeed like she always had…
But…
There was something she wanted to see through, going into university.
When she left for Paris, she had gradually lost contact with all her friends, the culture slowly choking her time, eventually disconnecting them from her.
She’d receive and return the occasional message, but… things were different. She knew she’d drifted apart from everyone.
So, when she found out that they would all be attending the same Arts Institute, and when she had decided to return to Japan for her mother’s sake, she believed it wouldn’t all be that bad if she could apply for a scholarship to the same place, and possibly rebuild everything that was slowly crumbling away.
She wanted to be with everyone again.
And though she believed herself capable of attaining what she wanted on her own, she might require a little assistance from a miracle.
And a miracle- could she call this monstrosity of a situation that?- came in the form of a letter that had documents that signified she was the daughter of some ‘Jacques Schnee’ currently undergoing some sort of trial, and because of this, some of the accusations led to the revelation that he was neglecting a daughter, not sending support, and now as some form of bribery and compensation or whatever, he had paid the court to shut up about it if he took responsibility for her now.
Claudine scoffed in disbelief and utter disgust.
So this was her damned biological father? Some apparently bigtime tycoon who slept around and left a woman to fight for herself while carrying his- Claudine would suppose she was now an- illegitimate child.
This… was certainly news she’d never have expected in a million years.
She laughed mirthlessly at it all.
Well, at least her financial crisis had been averted. For better or for worse… she hoped it wasn’t the latter.
One upside was that she now had a clear ticket to that university she wanted to get into, it seemed. Her ‘father’ had taken the liberty of enrolling her there coincidentally. At least he could do something right, Claudine guessed.
“Well… I suppose it’s time to pack.” She sighed falling back onto her current apartment bed, staring at the ceiling.
It wasn’t so bad, maybe. Her newfound reality.
“Japan, I’m coming home to you.”
  //-//-//-//-//
Diana glared at the letter in her hand angrily. There, in neat script, she saw the name of the man who had caused all her misfortune.
‘Jacques Schnee.’
“I want to hate you for as long as I live…” She gripped the paper so hard, creases were forming and the agent currently assigned to her worried she’d rip it into shreds. “What is this garbage? And why am I… Why can’t I… refuse… this ugly form salvation…” She choked on her sobs, a hand sympathetically rubbing her back.
“Let’s get you ready, Miss.”
Diana nodded in agreement.
-----
All her bags now in her hand after being dropped off by the cab driver, she stared in awe at the slightly modest, but clearly high-end house.
What the hell, did her dad just get her a house?!
Regardless of its size, couldn’t he have… like… gotten her an apartment or condo, at least?
How rich was this asshole father of hers? Was money the only good thing about him? Not that even that was necessarily a good thing.
With a groaning sigh, she unlatched the gate, walking up the little pathway. There were small flowerbeds already present around the yard, and decorations were tastefully placed.
It at least looked the part of cozy.
Once she got to the door, however, angry sounds coming from inside made her question that.
-Wait. This was her house, right?
Why would sounds be…
In a panic, she unlocked the front door with the key that came with the letter, bursting through it like a mad man, blue eyes flickering about the room, shocked to see two pairs of eyes, wide and intense, staring back at her with equal surprise.
“Who…”
“Oh, this is just great!!!” One with hair as white as snow exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air in clear exasperation. “Now we have another one!” She began marching around the room, palms rubbing her face aggressively and scratching through her hair. “That little fuck-“
“-Language.”
“Shut up! I don’t even know who you are, and why you were in my house when I arrived. And you say you aren’t a burglar or whatever, but what is up with your sword play? Even if you were using the curtain pole. Are you some kind of spy or assassin the corporation has sent to finally get rid of me?”
“First of all, this is my house, not yours. And you came at me with a rapier!” A silver-gold blonde replied in equal stress. “You could have killed me!”
“I would never!” The first girl gasped with faux emotion. “At most, you’d lose an ear.”
“Umm…” Diana remained awkwardly fidgeting at the door, her usual bravery and confidence lost in the moment of shock.
“What.”
“I- I am simply here because… apparently my father purchased this place for me.”
Two pairs of eyes blinked once. Twice.
Then realization overtook them.
“Did you just say… father?” The golden-haired one stepped closer to her, a lot less hostile, but still aggressive looking.
“I- Um… yes?”
“Father… you say.” The lady with a rapier in her hand now approached Diana too.
These women were frightening, dear Lord. Diana slowly backed up, but stopped as her foot hit the bags she’d dropped in her frantic moments earlier.
“Can you tell me the name of this… ‘father’ of yours?” Rapier lady asked Diana who was beginning to wonder if she should look for a weapon to defend herself with.
“S-sure. His n-name is…”
“…”
“…”
“Is?”
“Fuck.”
Diana was not one to curse, but it surprised her that she did.
But she couldn’t help it, now could she? After all, her mind had been wiped clean as a white slate. A mental block was not what she needed right now, but just about anything involving that man seemed to bring about her misfortune.
At least the hands by which she’d die her early death were from very beautiful women it seemed.
She liked women, at least?
“Excuse me, um… are you alright?” Miss Golden hair was now very safe-looking and welcoming, Diana subconsciously stepped closer towards her.
“What is up with you? I just asked a question.”
“Perhaps, if you placed the sword down, and looked less like you were trying to murder her and look like you were willing to hear her out…”
Diana expected another heated retaliation, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the other woman sheath her weapon, and place it gently on a plastic-covered couch, clearly brand new.
“There. Happy?” She asked, glaring at the woman now gently holding Diana’s hand- and when had that happened?!
With a nod, the girl turned to Diana and asked again. “What is your father’s name. If you could tell us.”
Huh. She was a lot kinder than Diana had initially taken her for.
“I apologize. I can’t… remember at the moment. I- He hasn’t been around… for me until this point. I just… learned his name a few days ago but…” She hung her head in defeat, apologizing all the while. “Sorry I’m of no assistance to you…”
“No, it’s alright. Isn’t it?” The question was clearly not directed at her as she could only hear a grunt from the other side of the room.
“Yeah, fine.”
“Would your father’s name happen to be Jacques?”
At this, Diana lifted her head, another shocker delivered to her, hearing the familiar name, the cogs in her head clicking into place.
“Yes! Yes, that’s it! Jack, or Jacques or whatever. Snee? Shuni? Schee? I don’t quite remember, but something along those lines.” Diana found herself enthusiastic towards the prospect that some of her questions might be answered.
It seemed the other two shared the same sentiment.
“It’s Schnee.” The white-haired lady corrected, eyes furrowing, anger building up once more. “And… THAT BASTARD OLD MAN!” Grabbing her rapier she swung it around, probably to vent her anger. “He set me up! And what’s more…” She whipped her head about to carefully look the other two people over.
“What is it?” Diana said in a voice quite small.
“Seems he had big secrets to hide.” She sighed. Turning to the initial enemy she had, now turned… stranger? She wasn’t sure they were allies at this point, she stated rather than asked. “I guess it’s the same for you?”
The woman beside Diana nodded, expression looking a lot stiffer than her gentle demeanor as she dealt with Diana earlier.
“I see. I can’t believe this situation.”
“What do you me-“
A voice beside Diana delivered her fourth? Fifth? Sixth?- she’d lost count- Shocker of the day.
“Sisters. It seems we’re… sisters.” Turning to Diana, she held out a hand for a shake. “I’m Claudine.”
“I’m Weiss.” Was the grumble from the couch the woman had flopped on top of.
“…O-oh!” Breaking her stare from the hand, she looked into rose-red eyes. “And I’m-“
And the world suddenly turned black.
‘Hello, My Name is…
[Diana Cavendish]
[Weiss Schnee]
[Saijou Claudine]
-And it seems as though…
I have two sisters?!
A/N: If you’re asking, yes. Yes, Diana fainted.
Here are some details for this AU btw:
I’ve decided to make Jacques a half-Jap, half german.
So all of them have a quarter of that blood.
Diana is half brit, quarter jap, quarter german
Weiss is ¾ german because of her mom, and ¼ jap.
Claudine is half French, ¼ german, ¼ jap.
Also, if you want to know their ages, and their order, I decided it this way, and let me just quote how I typed it out in the raw idea draft.
“Diana April 30 16yro in anime 2017+3yrs (2020) she's 19 too omg jahahahaha (wrote this coz I’m currently 19 and was amused)
Clau august 1, 2001 19 at present
Weiss Currently 19 (in volumes 5-6) may 15th lmao hahsha. Perfect!!
Wtf Diana was the oldest? Hooo boi. I did expect and want Kuro to be youngest tho, tbh.”
Why their ages are pretty much the same will be mentioned next chap.
And that’s how it went. Decided with Weiss being the legitimate child coz Jacques was the only canonically mentioned dad between the three girls as far as I know. Or I just didn’t search enough.
But come on. I wouldn’t pass at the chance to beat up the dude in a fic so… hihi.
Feedback is super appreciated!
Thank you for reading!

I know I am pointing out the obvious, here, but I love they took RWBY's passion for stories and references, brought it into RWBY Ice Queendom and adapted it to the media.
The writers are clearly having a lot of fun by referencing famous animes and paying homages to them :''')
Owl's Moving Castle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snk

Evangelion

Maybe Madoka?
Tumblr media
And personally I see also a little bit of HxH in the earliest shoots of the airship... tbh I think the og itself references HxH (like... the Hunter Exam :P)
Anyway, it is just good they kept the heart of the show as a story which shamelessly loves stories, plays with them and references them :''')
The same applies to the fairy tale's references... Weiss's nightmare references Sleeping Beauty, Snowhite, Cinderella (the Clock) and Beauty and the Beast (the apple getting wasted). It also tells us something about Weiss:
When I was young If I just closed my eyes Then I could go anywhere Dream of any place Imagination set the pace And my heart was happy there
Some believe in fairy stories And the ghosts that they can't see I know that I could do so much If I could just believe in me Mirror mirror Tell me something Can I stop my fall?
Weiss is a huge fairy tale nerd :P (and yes, I know Remnant has its own set of fairy tales, which are different, but the point is that Weiss's inner world is very dreamlike and uses tropes commonly found in fairy tales worldwild).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you I'm just wondering:
Why wouldn't Penny have an importance in V9, didn't Pyrrha hade it in V4 & V5?
How the forever is suspicios, yes it just a line said by winter but what made the forever so strange?
Okay so I was trying to find the post where I talked about it already, but I don't find it... So I'll attach the link here later when I find it, but to sum up :
I do think Pyrrha is as important as Penny, I never said she wasn't important ! I'm only reacting to the facts and what we see in the show : Penny and Pyrrha's death are shown to us in a different way.
Pyrrha's death happened, then we saw Jaune mourn her and still follow her instructions to become a better fighter. We also see him wearing her red fabric, and Ruby having nightmares and PTSD because of her. We also have the scene of the statue in Volume 6. But the thing is that with Pyrrha, we have nothing kinda semi-implying that she might be able to come back, at least it's not said about her. So far we saw many characters mourn her, but there was nothing about her coming back.
While with Penny, I would have said the exact same if in Volume 9 we had only the sword/eulogy scene and that's it. That scene was really similar to the statue scene in terms of narrative to me. But the fact is that AFTER that, we got a lot of confusing informations, both about Penny and about the lore of RWBY/The Ever After. Ruby met the Blacksmith and asked where she found the sword, but the Blacksmith answered and added "nothing, no one, is ever truly lost" (which could be applied to Pyrrha too in a larger view tbh). This line is specifically weird because it implies that Ruby thought she lost Penny's sword, by extension Penny, and the God of the universe tells her "nothing and no one is ever truly lost", like. This is kinda explicit and I'm going wild XD
And in general, we have this whole idea of ascension/reincarnation, some black holes in Penny's transformation with Ambrosius or Winter's transfer of the Maiden Powers. Some things are weird (like : is Penny made only of Aura ? (I don't think so but it's still a good question). Did Ambrosius took Ruby's words literally "we'd like to keep her longer than that" and we don't know that Penny's stronger than we thought ? Did Penny know it ? Did her soul merged with Winter's when she gave the powers ? Could it be separated ? If Afterans ascend, could humans do it too if the brothers decided to change the natural order of Remnant ? Idk anyway I'm starting to ramble--
As for the "Because of me, Penny's gone, forever" from Winter, I answered to it HERE and HERE (mostly here) in more details :]
