So how penny returne would actually help jaune ruby and winter (genius quation)

So my thoughts on that is that Penny always was this kind of representation/embodiment of hope, especially for Ruby but also for the world. This was reinforced in Volume 9, with the auction scene in Chapter 2 (Jinxy asking Ruby "enough hope to fill this jar", especially to get the jade marionette that is actually Penny's blade in disguise, and a bit later when she talks about Penny to the guards, "she sent a message of hope to the stars"). Even when she was introduced in earlier volumes, she had in mind that "one day, it'll be her job to save the world". Penny's theme is surely about choice and freedom, but it's also about hope and about believing, about having the light, and her return kinda served that purpose for Ruby to me. Ruby spent like 2 years trying to accept Penny's death and to mourn her, and Volume 6 was a dark volume considering everything they learned about Salem, the Relics, Ozpin, etc. Even at the beginning of Volume 7, with Ironwood paranoia and Atlas being in high alert, things weren't looking very promising. But suddenly we meet Pietro, Penny's father, and then we see Penny herself again bringing back this positive tone to the story and to the city. Because let's be honest, Mantle is a very dark city and seeing Penny like that was really a contrast in there.

So for Ruby, I'm also thinking about the many parallels and similarities between Little and Penny, who basically serve a similar role to our main character as well. This small and pure soul, only wanting to have friends and help, to protect and guide their friends along the way. Little died too under Ruby's nose, but they came back as Somewhat and we see at the V9 finale how much it brought back Ruby's spark once again. Ruby was kind to Little just like she's been kind to Penny one day, and they both played their part acting like Ruby's hope, Ruby's light. For Ruby, I kinda see Penny as a final hope restored, when everything else crumbles then maybe this could be one of the last thing that could bring the spark back again. I'd like to believe Penny could play this part during the final parts of the RWBY story and main series, I'm not really sure how or when but I see it as a climax. We got too much hints about reincarnation and returning in V9 for them to be ignored for me, and I do hope this wasn't just here for nothing or only for Ruby's character during V9.

Penny sure died wanting to choose the next Maiden, because she knew they didn't have the time for any other option. Her life was suddenly cut after we got hope again that things could actually work with Ambrosius. But Little's life was cut short too and because they're Afteran, no one really complained about the problem of balance, reincarnation. But if they weren't Afteran, would people react the same way ? Tbh I think so, maybe because they were a character only present this volume (maybe we could see them again someday :] ). If Penny was Afteran, would people complain about her reincarning ? If the rules of the Ever After and ascension also applied to humans, would people be mad for Penny returning ? I know that for a lot of people Penny served in her arc, people think that it's completed, but I personnally don't think that's really the case but I could talk about it in another post.

For Jaune, I don't really know specifically how her returning could "help" Jaune : I think it's also nice to remember that even if each character have a purpose in the show, they also have their own arc and lives and they can also evolve for themselves. I already gave reasons for Ruby who's the main character, for Jaune I think this could also serve a similar purpose, + Penny could become a part of team JNPR. Penny's deaths involved both Pyrrha and Jaune everytime, I think it would be nice to explore the connection and parallels between all of these characters.

As I mentioned in other posts too, I think Penny and Nora's friendship is adorable and I would love to see them interact more as a new team JNPR.

For Winter, I think that it would simply really be interesting Winter allowing herself to be more human, while Penny literally discovers her full humanity (if she's in a human body, because of the empirical experience etc). Just see them explore emotions, support each other, create deeper bonds and help people, they could discover the world and grow up together.

I'm gonna stop there for tonight and will answer other asks tomorrow, but I hope this can help to visualise my ideas for Penny's story. Not mentioning also just the fact that she's based on Pinocchio, and that Pinocchio is revived several times and even the last time when he sacrifices himself. :]

Oh, and I personally do think there's potential for Penny to be Ruby's love interest, but that's my opinion.

Darren/Velvet: With a face like this, it was inevitable!

Michael B./Jacqueline: Why couldn’t it have been you with the hurt ankle?

[Everyone laughs]

Michael D./Lady Astrid: Valerie, how are you feeling? 

David/Valerie: I’m disappointed that I didn’t give the challenge my all.

Michael B./Jacqueline: That’s not the Valerie I know! You’ve gotta pick yourself up and do what you came here to do!

David/Valerie: [in a confessional] I came very close to going home last night. If I can’t keep my focus, I might not be so lucky next time.

Diamond: [entering the work room] Well, helloooooooo my queens! I know we’re all shocked by Vixen’s departure due to an injury, but the show goes on! Today you’ll be scaring up the drama in a horror feature called “The Haunting of Hell House on Haunted Hill.” I’ll be directing you on set, so be spooky and don’t forget to make me laugh!

[The queens are assigned their roles and begin rehearsing. Michael B. sees that David is struggling and takes him aside for a chat]

Michael B./Jacqueline: Okay, Valerie, what gives? It’s not like you to be so distracted.

David/Valerie: I know, I just can’t stop worrying about how things are going at home. I’m not used to being away from my kids and husband. 

Michael B./Jacqueline: You’re such a good dad, though. I’m sure your kids will be fine without you.

All: Yamachan???

Yamachan: [giggling] Yes, it’s me, Yamachan! I just stopped by to remind you all that my new movie Yamachan’s Big Adventure is heading to theaters soon! Don't miss it!

All: [laughing] Oh, Yamachan!

Diamond: Fantastic work! Judges, what did you think of “The Haunting of Hell House on Haunted Hill”?

Izzy: Everyone was so good that even I’m having a hard time finding fault with it!

Penny: You were all very funny, but Vapore really nailed her role! 

Diego: This group is really the best of the best. I don’t envy Diamond having to decide who goes home tonight.

Diamond: We’re really going to have to get down to the wire with this. It’s going to come down to the finer details. I will say that even though it didn't show in the final cut, Valerie was having a hard time remembering her lines in rehearsal.   Izzy: And wasn't she in the running for elimination last week? Penny: That's true, but I see a lot of potential in Valerie. I don't think it's her time to go yet.

Diego: Then who else do you think deserves to go home tonight?

Penny: I--I don't know.

So... some of you may have noticed my fics have come to a screeching halt the last couple of months which is not like me and I am here to explain myself.

Babygirl, I have been preparing.

The end of this month is my 1 year anniversary of posting in this fandom, of posting any of my work online after not doing it for like fifteen fucking years and it has brought me so much incandescent joy, I decided I had to do something for it.

(I've also hit like... several milestones which is fucking insane like you all know I'm just some cranky bog witch, right??)

I have been working on my WIPs for over the last two months. All... holy mother of god... like nine of them???

Some of these have been completed, some I am still writing and some are mostly done.

So starting from my anniversary date, 23rd October, every second or third day, I'll be posting a chapter of something.

I have so much material built up this shit could go on until 2024

I wanted to do this to show just how much I love this community. Your kind words, your support, your unhinged ramblings, your obsessive love, your talent (for free??) it's all amazing it's so amazing and I wanted to explode forth with my love for it so I figured why the fuck not do this stupid idea??😅

I got bored and decided to draw my Penny design for the first time in months, god I miss my little trainwreck

gnawing on the penny 3.0 thing like a dog with a bone again (<- ozlem counterfactual edition) cause like

"even if the worst does happen, you can always reactivate her again, so maybe try not to worry so much." ruby saying this is how we learn that penny is out of lives (because she's already been deactivated and reactivated so many times that pietro doesn't have enough of his soul left to give her any more) and then v9 does this. and that coexists with the ruby/oscar setup turning on ruby's fear of and refusal to reckon honestly with oscar's mortality.

salem prayed to the gods for a miracle.

ruby took it for granted that penny could and would be brought back an infinite number of times, and by extension assumed that it wouldn't be a big deal if penny were, in effect, executed by the state for a crime she didn't commit. (what would have happened in V8 if ruby hadn't been informed otherwise? if ruby still believed penny could be reactivated, no problem, when the virus hit and penny suggested "kill me" as the solution?)

which is a fascinating contrast but not really one that reflects optimistically on ruby/penny as a romantic pairing; ruby's grief is underpinned by that devaluation of penny's life in V7. "you can always reactivate her again"—idk. it's objectifying.

i do sort of anticipate V10 touching on the possibility of rebuilding penny because salem never tried to bring ozma back, because ozma was not an object or a fairytale hero or a security blanket to her in the way that penny was to ruby and pietro. and then there's winter, who got to say goodbye (because she never treated penny like a machine) and has accepted that penny is gone forever.
