Things to Live for

It had been difficult, the past months. I saw a post on Facebook with lists on things to live for and I kinda wanted to do the same. So here's my list of things to live for:

This year is gonna be my year.

-Doing stuff with friends

-Going on a concert (I have dreamed about this concert for years) on my own

I had a number of people suddenly appear in my life today for a quick hello (literally walking past in most cases) and it was utterly delightful. Such a simple thing, what a wave and a smile can do.

I lost my best friend to suicide 7 years ago. I don’t wish that kind of grief on anyone.

I’m absolutely terrified too. I’m having those thoughts too. It’s okay to not stay alive for yourself right now. You can stay for any reason. It’s just important that you stay.

We have to stay.

I’m trying to, and I need you to try too. I’ll hold your hand. We can hold each other and cry together. We don’t have to do this alone. We can’t do this alone.

it’s completely acceptable to stay alive for tiny reasons. because you want to hear your favorite song one more time. because your dog will miss you if you leave. because the moon is just too pretty to never see again. because you haven’t seen the next season of a really good tv show. because you want to see the christmas lights this year. if you’re alive, you’re doing enough. if you’re surviving, i’m proud of you.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.
