In a Q&A at the Sands International Film Festival in Scotland, Russo and Epic Games chief creative officer Donald Mustard mused about the potential ways that artificial intelligence might aid filmmakers--or just take over filmmaking duties itself.

"Potentially, what you could do with it is obviously use it to engineer storytelling and change storytelling. So you have a constantly evolving story, either in a game or in a movie, or a TV show," Russo went on.

"You could walk into your house and save the AI on your streaming platform. 'Hey, I want a movie starring my photoreal avatar and Marilyn Monroe's photoreal avatar. I want it to be a rom-com because I've had a rough day,' and it renders a very competent story with dialogue that mimics your voice. It mimics your voice, and suddenly now you have a rom-com starring you that's 90 minutes long. So you can curate your story specifically to you."

I don’t know about the rest of you but I cannot think a more nightmarish end game for art than this.

#the entire POINT of fucking art is communication #every film - even silly or bad ones - is another person or group of people reaching out to you #they want to turn art into a mirror #remove all the creators - the people - from it and turn consumers into goddamn parakeets #amazed at their own reflection #I'd say this amounts to lazy fanfiction but that wouldn't be fair to fanfiction #fanfiction is made with genuine love and passion for the subject matter - with no expectation of financial reward #this is just the final piece of turning art into a commodity: removal of humans from the creative process #it's a fucking nightmare and the fact that Russo wasn't finishing this lecture with calls to action #shows a bankruptcy of thought and dare I say it - morals #because what is the movie he suggested #right off the cuff #if not a self-indulgent deepfake of a real goddamn person?#AI Art #Automation #Joe Russo #Hollywood #Commodification #AI Art is Not Art #right from the cuff #(and of course an executive from Epic was there too 🙄)

I didn’t have time to draw something for Halloween, so here’s this old drawing I did a while ago of Meta Knight as Captain Picard/Locutus of Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation that I feel somewhat fits the Halloween theme. I call him Locutus of Borb.

#Kirby #Kirby fanart #my art #Meta Knight #I don’t think this looks very good this was one of my first Kirby drawings and I was still figuring out how to draw everyone #I’ll probably redraw this eventually but still wanted to share this since I didn’t have time to draw anything for Halloween #aside from being a Kirby fan I’m also a big fan of Star Trek I’ve seen all the shows and movies #and I see a lot of parallels between Star Trek and Kirby #literally the whole plot of Planet Robobot is just the Borg storyline in Star Trek lol #for Kirby fans who don’t follow Star Trek the Borg are a collective of cyborgs that can essentially mechanize other species #they appear as recurring antagonists and attempt to assimilate other species into their collective against their will #and once they’ve assimilated a person they can influence that person to do their bidding #in The Next Generation they assimilate Captain Picard and turn him into Locutus of Borg so they can use him to try and assimilate Earth #it reminded me a lot of what Susie did to Meta Knight in Planet Robobot so that’s where the idea for this drawing came from #I’ll have to draw more Star Trek and Kirby crossover stuff there’s a lot I can work with for crossovers lol #like Star Trek straight up has a mirror universe full of evil versions of the characters that’s literally just Amazing Mirror #and the episode of the anime where Dedede gets the Scarfies as pets is basically just the Tribble episode from Star Trek #anyways happy Halloween please enjoy Locutus of Borb

Genuinely best thing i ever learned is stop making art with Posting a Photo in mind. Just draw fuckall. Especially if your native language isnt english but you write notes and create art in english. Is it because you want to or because you have to to reach an audience? If its the latter, Literally just write notes and make comics in your obscure dialect even if it is spoken by 10 people, you can always translate later, but separate yourself from the social media post aspect of it all while creating!!!! Tumblr fun and all but dont create only for clicks on an app for the love of god
