just saw someone say they can’t believe Ichigo didn’t try for a girl after Kazui, and like… damn… they’re SON right. he was destined to be a girl dad, and Kubo gives him a son??? I have nothing against Kazui, don’t get me wrong, he’s a cute kid and all, BUT.

and I do believe that misogyny’s at play here, because “oh, firstborn son, you’re so lucky”, “only a son can inherit all these super cool powers”, “the MC of a shōnen simply CAN NOT have a firstborn daughter, it’s against the laws of nature”. at least that’s the vibe I’m getting, although I could just be searching for a problem where there is none.

and because of this ��daughters can’t inherit cool stuff” we never see any truly impressive and undefeated female characters in shōnen. and yes, I know, the genre is catered towards teenage boys, and don’t want to read about a female MC or have a woman be the strongest in that verse. but let’s be fucking for real, girls read shōnen too, and if they can’t deal with a strong woman maybe they should Keep Themselves Safe, yk?（＾∇＾）
