Is it any wonder that Cloud just fractures after this? That he can’t take the loss? That his very mind rebels at being alone? In his head he’s still sixteen. Still reeling from the loss of his mom and as far as he knows Tifa. Still half out of his mind from the mako. Still living half remembered nightmares from whatever happened to him in those last four years.
He was a kid in over his head and was forced to be a hero when the hero he had idolized through his entire life became a monster.
Was it any wonder he emulated the only hero he had left?

PLEASE DO NOT TAG AS YOUR OWN OC OR PAIRING.
Nathan and Ruben share a bond more powerful than most; mutual understanding through past experiences no one should ever have to go through, and through past actions so horrible they cannot be spoken of. Their grief and the blood on their hands binds them to the STEM technology they created, which has alienated them from the rest of the world— but they give each other the comfort they have both longed for so desperately for years, and that is all they need. They are each other's counterpart; you cannot imagine one without the other, like two sides of the same coin. Through their pain, their grief, their desire, and their regret, they have become one.

Arcane women cheating on their s/o and getting caught. | Vi, Caitlyn, Sevika x Gn!Reader
(Part 2)
So I'm writing this whilst extremely sick, but the idea just wouldn't leave my mind, so I'm sorry if this sucks... also, you're welcome in advance!<3
Content: TW!Cheating, angst, hurt/no comfort, swearing, some violence? Idk, just chaos, probably ooc, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns.
((Not proofread))
》VI
In hindsight, you should have known better than to think that she'd be yours forever. When you were children under Vander's care, she had promised you that she'd be yours for life. It was naive, and deep down, you knew that it wouldn't last. Especially when she was able to leave prison with the help of that Enforcer.
You weren't blind to how close they were when Vi came to visit you weeks after her release, claiming to have an important mission with the blue haired woman she had to finish first. But things fell into place again with her, and you pushed those thoughts aside from the joy of having your girlfriend back... until the denial finally caught up to you months later, when you were asked to go on a mission with her and Caitlyn to catch Jinx once and for all. You refused at first, unwilling to be the cause of more pain in Zaun, yet Vi couldn't see how wrong it was.
She followed the Kirammann near blindly even when she should've known better, and that hurt. You ultimately just joined because she practically made you to and didn't leave you much of a choice. The jealousy was, however, unbearable, yet Vi just called you dramatic in response.
It was no big deal anyway. Her and Caitlyn were just partners in this mission, you know? It's really not that big of a deal. They are just very good friends at best. Can't she have friends, or are you that controlling now? The lies finally came to the surface when you trailed after them secretly whilst Vi asked for a private moment alone. It felt wrong and invasive at first, but what you saw was a lot worse than the guilt. Caitlyn leaned forward to kiss Vi on the lips, and a perhaps foolish part of you hoped that your girlfriend would push her away to tell her off. Yet she didn't do that. Instead, she dropped her gauntlets and melted into the Piltovans embrace fully, as though your relationship didn't matter. And maybe it never did to her.
You let out a shaky sigh, doing your best not to absolutely freak out in the face of absolute doom. Everything suddenly felt so tense and suffocating, your body trembling in horror. You should've listened to your gut feeling months ago. But love blinded you. It really did. You couldn't look away either, your broken heart pounding against your ribcage wildly when it finally dawned on you that you were an idiot this whole time. Everyone must've caught on except for you, and yet you had the hope that she'd never do this to you. Not your Vi. Never your Vi. Prison must've changed her more than you thought.
Unable to breathe and completely devastated, you attempted to step back and flee. You didn't even want to bother and yell at her when she didn't even deserve your time anymore. But alas, fate had different ideas, as you knocked over an empty can that made both women part in surprise. Vi's eyes immideatly met yours, a shocked look on her face as though you were the one that betrayed her. "Oh fuck... wait, I can explain, I, we-" "-Vander would be disappointed in you, Violet." You said, unable to stop the painful words from slipping out of your lips. Her feelings would never be protected by you again anyway. You've wasted years of your life waiting for her and caring for her when she finally got out. You never complained, and you bit your tongue every time she did something that you disliked. But it was all for nothing.
Vi was left speechless at your words that awoke a deep insecurity she had attempted to hide for so long. Imagining Vander's disgusted and disapproving face didn't help. Pushing Caitlyn out of the way, she tried approaching you carefully, afraid to lose you. You were the last thing she had left. "Please babe, it's... that was... Fuck just let me explain." But there was nothing she could say to make you forget what you saw. And you sure as hell weren't going to stay with a cheater. Vander taught you to know your worth, and you wouldn't let him down like that.
So when Vi was close enough, you slapped her right across the face, making her stumble. How could such an innocent gaze do the worst things? You had to get out of here before your hands stained the blood of your own people, too. "Cupcake wait -" "-Our people are dying at her hands, whether you like to see it or not. And I refuse to be a traitor either." Not bothering to hear what else she had to say, you simply left and never looked back.
Forever truly is never promised.
》CAITLYN
She has grown distant to you ever since her mother's death. Something you understood and supported by allowing her space to grief. You did everything for her to have a comfortable transition into this uncertain future, hoping it would ease the pain ever so slightly. But things aren't that easy. Her rage was brewing and overflowing into an irrational hatred for all Zaunites due to who had killed her. You may have never met Jinx, but even you understood that not everyone down there was like this. They didn't deserve the anger.
Yet Caitlyn couldn't see it your way and refused to, which led to many arguments and eventually a separation for the time being. Your heart was hurting, and you couldn't recognize the woman she had become. But of course, you were the crazy one. The Traitor, who empathized with those "animals", a word you were still in disbelief in to hear from her of all people, considering her late mother's ambitions. Ambitions that she stepped all over after she used her vents for an unforgivable plan that gassed the entire undercity with "the grey". You couldn't believe it. It left you to sit at Cassandra's grave frozen and bewildered for hours on end, guilty about being unable to do anything.
But just as you thought she couldn't get any worse, she had to prove you wrong like always.
On a moonlight night, you made your way through her estate in search of the last of your belongings. You weren't going to stay in Piltover any longer after she became the commander. Not being able to stand what she now was, you took it upon yourself to leave as silently as possible. Perhaps get back at her for hurting you, as selfish as it may have been to you at first. Yet the guilt melted away when you creaked open the door to her room, a room you often secretly shared. You didn't think she was home around this hour, as you hoped she was too busy to be there yet. But alas, there she was, with a familiar red-headed officer of hers. The one you couldn't stand at first sight, as you felt like there was something off about her.
You were right about that, at least. You couldn't make out everything, but their scandly clad figures moving around the bed was enough to paint a picture you wished to forget. Oh, how the rage took ahold of you in that moment! For a split second, you finally understood how she must've felt like. And god did you hate it.
Unwilling to let this ruin the reason you've come here to begin with, you unceremoniously switched the lights back on and casually began to grab your things off the shelves and vanity. Caitlyn jumped up in surprise when she finally could see again and saw you standing there, back facing her. She was speechless, and so was the sly officer below her. Although the smirk was easy to hide behind a covered mouth. "Don't mind me. Just here to get the last of my belongings." You said, voice shockingly steady. Despite the shocking situation, you felt calm and undeterred, finally done with her at last. "W-wait, this isn't what it looks like, love. This means nothing, I-" "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. No need for it when my skyship is leaving soon." You turned to glance at her and felt a sick satisfaction at her horror striken face. She certainly never expected you to catch her, and you certainly never expected her to sink so low.
Stumbling out of the bed and after you, as you exited the room, she ignored Maddie's hushed pleas to stay. "Come on, wait and allow me to explain, at least! I... Things have been hard lately -" You walked quicker now, not wanting to hear what she had to say. But she just wouldn't let you go. "- And, and you weren't around and I..." "Are you done? I wasn't around because you didn't want me to. Now let me leave at once, or I will scream and alert everyone in this building of what you're doing." Caitlyn stood still at the top of the grand staircase that you practically ran down. Before you slipped through the doors, however, you turned to her one last time, tears finally burning in your eyes so treacherously.
"Your mother died in vain, hoping from the heaven's above that her daughter would be worth the Kirammann name... and yet, all she does is roll in her grave at your actions. Oh, the shame." You hissed out before slamming the doors shut and never looking back.
》SEVIKA
Sevika was well known for her loyalty to those who deserve it. It was unrelenting and filled with unparalleled devotion, especially to you. Or so you thought.
Looking back on it, you wondered when the first red flags started appearing. Was it when she ditched Vander for Silco? Or when she spent endless nice "gambling" in some downtown bars instead of hanging out with you? Or was it maybe when she would only come back home extremely late into the night... or days later, sometimes.
There was always a new excuse, too.
She had a lot to do. Missions are piling up. Some random drug dealers weren't handing over the money they owed to Silco. Enforcers were causing some trouble. The Firelights were causing some trouble. She got too drunk and had to crash somewhere closer to the bar. Jinx blew something up again, and she had to fix it. Silco had her running all over Zaun collecting debts. Blah, blah, blah... the creativity was never-ending, and you were beginning to get beyond enraged about it.
You weren't stupid after all. It didn't take much to figure out that she was lying most of the time, and it was clear that she didn't care if you knew either. It was all very half-assed, to say the least. And the people that you asked for confirmation would always roll their eyes, knowing just as much as you did that it was bullshit and she was definitely doing something she shouldn't. Like getting drunk to the point she couldn't remember where home is. Metaphorically and literally. But what got you the most is how blatant and in your face it was.
The question as to why she was doing this now after years of being together is one you'll most likely never get an answer to. And you've made peace with that a while ago. Revenge was, however, still very much on the table, and you'd be damned if you didn't get an ounce of it.
With some bribery, Jinx was thankfully very willing to rat out Sevika, going as far as to even happily lead you to her. She wanted to see the world burn and knew that you weren't the type to let people get away with hurting you. And so, she leaned back with the sweets she acquired through you and watched as you casually loomed behind her in some run-down brothel. She apparently really loved frequenting this one, according to the crazed girl, something that made you scoff. She'd trade you in for THIS? Now that's an insult. The brothel workers nervously scooched away from her at the sight of your face. You two being a couple was well known, but you didn't blame the girls for doing their job. A bag is a bag, and you're about to have Sevika's head in one.
Grabbing a nearby bottle of wine, you practically smashed it over her head, knowing that it would do little to hurt her. "What the Fuck?!" She cursed, immideatly standing up to bash someone's face in. Yet after being met with your unimpressed look, she froze. "Hm? What is it? Not having fun anymore? Because I certainly am." The brothel workers quickly fled, leaving you alone. In the distance, you could hear Jinx's cackles. At least someone was actually finding this amusing. "... Ah... Hey, sweetheart... I uh..." "Call me that again, and I'll gouge your eyes out next. Years and years of loyalty to your miserable ass and this is what I get, Sevika? Have I really gotten that boring to you?" You hissed out, trying your best not to burst into tears.
You've been with this woman for so long through absolutely everything imaginable. But it wasn't enough for her. She had changed over the years into someone you hated, and you couldn't believe you were willing to waste so much more time with her. Not anymore, though. Suddenly feeling so suffocated in this stuffy room, you rolled your eyes and threw what was left of the broken bottle right at her speechless form before turning and leaving. "You know what? I don't care anymore. Go and find someone else who will in this hellscape because I promise you that you won't."
Stepping out into the dim lanes of Zaun, you felt more free than ever before as you ducked into the darkness for good. She'll never see you again, and you'll be sure of it, as you listened to her calls for your name getting further and further away.

As much as I wanted to, I could never buy into the 2004 mean girls lesbian reading - Cady always just felt too straight, and Regina was too nastily homophobic to Janis for me to personally be able to read her as a lesbian with internalized homophobia. My lesbian heart wanted to buy into it so very bad but I just couldn’t.
But mean girls 2024?? Oh boy they got me. They got me by my dykish little throat. Those gay musical theatre ass bitches managed to give me toxic doomed yuri in my mean girls movie!!!
Anyways funny part of the post is over allow me to over analyze:
Janis is a lesbian - she always was and we already knew that and I’m so glad they weren’t cowards and committed to giving her a girlfriend for prom this time. Janis and Regina were close friends who started to realize they liked eachother and while Janis was comfortable with that Regina wasn’t which lead to the whole ordeal with spin the bottle and with the beanie baby and the pride pin which leads me to…
Regina is a lesbian with some deeply internalized homophobia. We see it with the way she treats Janis but keeps the pride pin WHICH by the way is like fanfiction levels of toxic doomed yuri and I appreciate it so much. She has all this popularity and control over the school that she’s so afraid of loosing which causes her to act nasty and bitchy and her being a lesbian can absolutely fit into this - being outed as a lesbian would hurt her popularity and reputation and so she throws Janis away and ruins that relationship, and as she grows older and matures she gets stuck in this toxic mindset where I feel like she knows deep down she’s a lesbian but she’s not letting herself acknowledge it because she knows what embracing that would do to her social life. HOWEVER she’s toxic and absolutely still uses her hot dom lesbian energy to enact control over her friends who are all very down bad for her which leads me to…
Cady - bisexual home schooled jungle freak who starts normal high school and realizes what romantic attraction feels like and doesn’t really know what to do with those feelings- did y’all see the way she looked at Regina’s titties during that seduction scene, we all saw it right?? (And yes I’m calling it a seduction scene because even if you don’t read it as a sexual seduction that’s the term I’ve been taught to use for a villain confrontation where the villain is trying to convince the hero to join their side - seduction as opposed to threat - fun fact from film school) Cady wants to be like Regina, she WANTS regina, and Regina’s absolutely aware of that but is so buried in her persona and internalized homophobia that instead of acknowledging and reciprocating those feelings in a healthy way she kind of half reciprocates them enough to lead Cady on but not enough to treat Cady well which leads to this relationship dynamic where Regina is pretty much benefiting off of the way her unacknowledged lesbianism is enacting control over her friends who are all down bad for her which leads me to…
Gretchen - you can’t tell me that girl isn’t in a horrific one sided situationship with Regina especially after her song!??? That girls WANTS REGINA SO BAD and Regina knows that and again exploits that somewhat unintentionally because she can’t acknowledge her own identity. Gretchen is what Cady very well could have became in a different reality where Cady didn’t have Janis and Damien’s perspective to help her realize what she’s gotten herself into and lead to the conclusion of the film.
ANYWAYS I’m a cadina truther because Janis and Gretchen both have been hurt by Regina and deserve better but that doesn’t mean that Regina doesn’t deserve better either and I thoroughly believe that after the events of the film Cady helps Regina work through her shit and Cady gets the hot dom gf Regina was meant to be
As for Aaron I can absolutely believe that Cady is genuinely attracted to him I don’t think it’s a case of Cady likes Regina but doesn’t realize and so redirects her feelings into a man (tho I also totally support that reading) but dude that guy is so bland there’s no way that relationship lasts.
Tldr a lot of Regina’s behavior and relationships can be explained by her internalized homophobia and the way she somewhat benefits off of the control she gets over her friends who have feelings for her and Cady helps her break the pattern and become a better person

it will come back.
"i warn you, baby, each night, as sure as you're born, you'll hear me howling at your door..." - hozier, it will come back
pairing: yandere!bucky barnes x reader c.w.: dark!bucky (he definitely does some questionable things, but nothing graphic)
a.n. - it's official, i've become addicted to lower case fics. they're just so much fun. they've got a vibe, you know? anyway, this is my first attempt at a darker bucky, so i hope you enjoy!
Bucky Barnes Masterlist | AnonymityIsFun Masterlist
this is your fault. it’s all your fault.
you know better, or at least, you should have known better.
what else could you expect from a man like him? a man robbed of his humanity for so long. a man so close to ferality. that's who he is in all matters of you, a man more beast than human, no better than an animal when it came to you.
that’s how you should’ve treated him. as a beast. prowling back and forth in their confinement. poised to devour any unlucky soul that got too close. so long as he was caged, you were safe.
you didn’t though. you didn’t treat him like the beast he became the moment he saw you.
maybe in another life, he could've loved you in a normal, sane way. in another life, he could give you the sweetness you deserved. in a life where he wasn't so twisted and tormented, he would have done just that. the flowers. the chocolates. the romance.
but this is love, he tells himself.
this raw, deranged, twisted, obsession.
this is his love.
he loves you.
he swears he does.
in this life, this is the only way he can show you just how much he loves you. just how far he's wiling to go to love you.
something happened to him the moment he set his sights on you. perhaps something broke. perhaps something mended. but maybe this was always who he'd been. all he knows is that heaven is not fit to house the love he has for you.
it didn't matter. the moment he set his sights upon you, you were doomed.
he wanted to scream, to bellow a warning to stay as far away from him as possible.
he stayed silent during that first meeting. his jaw tense, spine straight as an arrow, fists clenched so tight he was sure there would be indents in the metal of his vibranium palm.
"it was nice to meet you, sergeant barnes." you made a point to place yourself in his line of sight, forcing him to look at you in those bright, wide eyes. "i look forward to working with you."
that was your first mistake. he had the strength to stay away. to resist the feeling creeping up his spine. but you just kept rattling his cage. calling out to him with your siren song.
"bucky," you rest your hand on his shoulder. you're trying to soothe him. you don't realize it's a kindness neither you nor him could afford. "it's alright."
he stiffens, that's the first time you've ever touched him. it's the first time he's ever heard his name fall from your lips. not sergeant, not sir, but his name.
his chest heaves, rising and falling as he tries to control himself. you think it's just the adrenaline of the mission. you don't have any idea how overwhelmed he is by your presence.
it's your own kindness that was your undoing, that was his unraveling. years of discipline, years of training, years of strength gone with a touch.
if he didn't love you so much, he'd hate you.
from that moment on, it all spiraled. he spiraled.
he wasn't a patient man, not by any stretch of the imagination. but for you, he'd wait. for you, he'd bide his time.
first, he watches. he watches and look for ways to insert himself into your life. it was almost too easy. for a shield agent, you were careless. doors unlocked. blissfully unaware of your surroundings on long, morning runs. you barely realized how he'd slithered his way onto your missions.
it helped you were vying for his approval, for his adoration. you didn't know that you had it from the moment he saw you. he started slow. inserting himself into your daily routine. a simple good morning. a good night. passing by you in the corridor, always offering a quick grin. he listened to you. to your ideas. your wants. your little anecdotes.
soon, you were close enough to invite him into your apartment. if only you knew that he'd seen it before.
"bucky, we're friends, right?"
he gritted his teeth. friends. no. you weren't friends. you were the love of his life. you were everything he had ever wanted, everything he would ever want. you were the center of his universe. he couldn't tell you that. not yet. "yeah. why do you ask?"
"i just wanted your opinion on this guy."
"a guy?" his voice is so clipped, so gruff, he's shocked you can't hear his teeth grinding together. his fists clench. can't you feel the rage rolling off of him?
"yeah, this agent," you sigh. "he keeps asking me out. i keep trying to let him down easy, but he's not taking the hint."
"oh."
your eyebrows furrow. he almost smiles to himself. you're so aware of him, of what he does or doesn't do. you're worried you upset him. you're worried you shouldn't have told him. he likes that you're this concerned about what he thinks. "should i - i'm sorry i shouldn't have said that to you."
he places his hand on your thigh, giving it a light squeeze. "no, i'm glad you told me."
it was too easy for him to swipe your phone when you weren't looking. too easy for him to find out which agent dared to try to take you from him.
and it was even easier to get the agent paired with bucky on a field mission. just the two of them. overseas in an unfamiliar country. there were just so many things that could go wrong.
he was respected in the avenger's compound. and in this moment, he's glad he put in the work to earn that respect. he didn't think they'd respect him so much if they knew how easy it was for him to sabotage that agent. he couldn't kill the guy, but if a gun shot to the leg wasn't enough of a warning, there were other ways to get him off your back.
all of this was your fault. you opened the cage, whether you knew it or not. you pushed him to this. you showed him the warmth of your doorways.
you could've left him alone. left him to the land. left him to the cold that he knows from the depth of his bones. you should never have let him taste your warmth. you shouldn't have uttered a single word to him, not when he's sat in silence for so long, not when the sound of your honey sweet voice in enough to feed his hungry soul.
you can't show warmth to someone stone cold.
you can't feed someone starved for decades.
you can't show mercy to someone used to the harsh, unyielding world.
you should never have let him in unless you planned on keeping him.
or he'll come back.
"bucky," you pant, running to bucky's room after hearing about his disastrous mission. "i heard - i heard things went wrong on that mission. i thought you were -"
"i'm okay. don't worry." he tries to bite back the smile at the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes. you were worried about him.
your words come out in short bursts. "i just - the guy - he's the one i told you about - i heard he was shot - and - and that you were on the mission with him-"
"that was the guy who wouldn't leave you alone?" there's an intentional lilt to his voice. of course he knew. but he didn't want to give away just how much he knew. you weren't ready for that. "he's okay, if that's what you're worried about."
"i was worried about you." your eyes lift to his, shining with tears, with admiration. you were so close to putting the final nail in your coffin. "i was so worried about you."
he should tell you to run. the lion should never live with the lamb. if only you'd left him to the land.
"i'm okay. i promise."
run, he silently warns you.
run.
run.
"i just- " your frantic eyes find his again. you don't say another word. you lunge forward, planting your warm hand on the side of his face. your lips meet his in a frenzy.
too late.
it was far, far too late. it was too easy for him to become addicted to your presence. how easy you are for him to need. how easy you are for him to crave.
he'll always come back for more. he'll never be satisfied. he lived deprived for so long.
you should've know the reason they locked him away and threw away the key. he's a greedy beast.
and he's decided, he can't live with a taste. not anymore.
"i just want to talk to you," the agent pleads with you. he follows you down the hallway, still limping on his leg after that gun shot. "just hear me out."
"look," you sigh, stopping for a moment out of pity. "i'm sorry you got hurt, but i've already told you, i'm not interested."
"you're not interested in me, but you're interested in the maniac that had me shot?"
your eyes widen at the accusation. "you're lying. and don't - don't talk about bucky like that."
"i just thought you should know what kind of man you're falling into bed with."
"you're just jealous." you're about to turn on your heels when he grips your bicep forcing you back around. he squeezes tightly, forcing you to stay in place. you look down at the white knuckled grip, "you're hurting me."
"he told me that i should be more careful next time. that next time it wouldn't be in the leg. you should ask him about it."
you wrench your arm from his hold. "stay away the hell from me."
you felt guilty about your reaction. even guiltier when he turned up dead just days later. the details of that assignment were so fuzzy. even an entire investigation turned up nothing.
"i can't believe he's gone," you softly cry into bucky's shoulder. "we were friends for so long, you know?"
"i'm so sorry, that can't be easy for you," bucky coos at you.
"i don't what happened. he was acting so strange the last few months and then we got into that fight. i said terrible things to him."
"you got into a fight?"
"he said some things. about you. about us."
"about me?"
"yeah." you nod, tears still stinging your eyes, but offering no other details of that argument. you didn't want to upset bucky with those strange accusations. "these last few months, he was like a different person. he wasn't the friend i knew. i'm sorry, i know i'm rambling at you. i just - i don't know how to feel."
"you don't have to be sorry," bucky promises, he strokes your back up and down, following the curve of your spine. "i understand."
"thank you." you tuck your head into the crook of his neck. "you're being so sweet to me."
"i would do anything for you."
you're not sure what it is. the inflection of his voice. the way the words fall from his lips without pause. or the intensity with which they ring in your ears. you freeze, peeling yourself out of his embrace. your heart hammers against your chest, the blood pumping faster and faster.
you look up and, for the first time, you get a glimpse of it. those blue eyes are almost unrecognizable. that vibrant blue is gone, replaced by something much darker. almost lupine. feral.
it was the first time you ever flinched away from him. you stumbled back, afraid of him.
if you didn't know better then, you certainly did now.
but it's too late for you. he's supposed to unlearn the warmth of your skin, the taste of your lips? he's supposed to let you go? just like that?
no. not a chance in hell.
he doesn't know why you can't see it. can't you see that blood that stained his hand was for you? that agent will never lay another hand on you. you'll never wince under his grip again. he'll never plant seeds of doubt in your head ever again. you're safe. here. in his arms.
you sent him away that night. but he doesn't care. it doesn't matter. he'll always find his way back to you.
he'll always come back.
can’t you hear him just outside your door?

Happy cyclone day! - Today marks the anniversary of the St Cassians Choir’s tragic death, known best as “Our Six Saints” when spoken of in the newspaper; Having died September 14th, 6:19pm.
Now for just a moment with me, imagine.
Imagine being doomed to never know of tomorrow. Imagine all the things they could’ve been looking forward to that week that they never got to see again, forgotten as they found their final resting place.
Maybe there was a test Noel was looking forward to on Wednesday because for once in English class they were covering a book he was really getting into, for once there would be something he’d enjoy in this town…
Maybe there was a makeshift lab Misha was looking forward to on Friday because they got to go outside and collect pond water, life kind of sucks for him right now but being able to go outside and conduct his own science experiment,, have control over something in his life would be sick. If he didn’t love basically anything he knew he loved science.
Maybe there was a surprise party Ocean and Constance had been planning for Tuesday when they had choir, they were looking forward to baking cupcakes together that night. It was never perfect with them when they did things together but it was their time and they have made all the decorations that weekend. If they won they’d celebrate all class period, smiling and playing music and eating food, for once Ocean had loosened up—just a bit—and decided since it was senior year they deserved a break. Just this once.
Imagine being all of them, actually. So many years of school, so much hard work, Highschool is the worst especially out in bumfuck nowhere. They were so close to freedom, so close to graduating and hopefully being able to run away from here, finally having rights to move or go or do what they wanted for most of them. This was their senior year. Their last year. Their last concert—it was probably true a few of them had decided this was *their* year and they would do great, they’d try their hardest and burn out in the summer knowing they’d made it and it was only downhill from here
Though, they were never destined to be more than this town after all, live and die here like the meager houseflies that lined their window sills, trapped in the homes and stuck until their demise. maybe, in a sense, the fact they died at all was to highlight those things that could have been, to give value and meaning to life where they wouldn’t have otherwise seen it.
And maybe, for that, it was better this way; At the height of their pursuits, standing just at the edge not knowing how they’d live or die, whether it all would have been worth it in the end. They wouldn’t be burdened if it was to fail, you know? Maybe it was better they never knew, because why live again if not happily, why live again when you stand amongst faces that know you, love you, why live again when your death was, inevitable.
They died in a freak accident, they died in a catastrophe far outside of this town, a bang and a crash sending shockwaves to anyone outside it… maybe thats just what they needed, maybe thats just what they wanted, to be something more than this smoggy town air, or maybe thats what they needed, to appreciate the stars that gleamed through it.
Idk lol anyways happy cyclone day

I thought about Astarion's life before he was turned, because it's fun to speculate about things we know very little about.
So, before Cazador he was a corrupt man in the ultimate position of power and justice - a courthouse. As a magistrate, he dealt verdicts according to his prejudices and ruthlessness. He doomed men, women and children. We don't know if he was taught to be that way. We don't know if he had a terrible relationship with his family. We don't know if someone broke his heart and made him into this merciless person.
One thing is for certain though, he was cruel before everything willingly. Then, Cazador happened and with him came a time when Astarion had to be cruel and doom even more souls to survive.
Yet, despite all that Astarion sees himself very clearly. He tells us all the things that we need to know about his past. He doesn't hold back on his cynical view of life or his thirst for power. He says that nobody ever cared for him or looked out for him. Nobody came to his rescue when he needed a way out. That's objectively true. He also admits his wrongs, if we don't ascend him. He says that he can be better than Cazador. He frees the Gur children and all the other victims. They deserve a second chance and they don't have to suffer just because of what he and Cazador did to them.
Sebastian was one of the few, he recalls, who was shy and innocent. He almost looks back at his first meeting with him with a bittersweet feeling. In a sort of "Maybe in another life..." manner. In his torment, Astarion was capable of perceiving the goodness within people. There were terrible people he seduced and there were also good people. And he chooses to free them all anyway.
The power of his redemption doesn't lie within our ability to empathize with a rough childhood or isolated existence. We don't need to know the past to deem him worthy of redemption. He proves us that he is worthy over time.
I love this character so much.
#somebody get this man out of my head#i hope his writer is well and creating more characters like him#astarion x tav#astarion#astarion x reader#bg3#baldur's gate 3

Celia Johnson (Brief Encounter)—She had the most soulful eyes! Like an anime character, it's insane. And she was fantastic in Brief Encounter. I also like that she's relatively ordinary looking, compared to some of the really glamorous Hollywood celebrities? She had an understated beauty, you know? And she's British so horray for national pride, lol.
Hedy Lamarr (Samson and Delilah, Ziegfeld Girl)—Look. I'm sure someone has already submitted Hedy Lamarr because she was spectacularly beautiful, and a very strong lady too: she fled both an abusive marriage AND nazi persecution at a very young age and rebuilt a life for herself pursuing her love for acting all on her own!! Her career as an actress was stellar; while she began acting outside of Hollywood (her very first movie, Ecstasy, won a prize at the Venice Film Festival), she conquered American hearts very quickly with her first movie in the US, Algiers, and then just kept getting better and better. If all this isn't enough, she was also an inventor: her invention of the frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio transmission technique forms the base of bluetooth and has a lot of applications in all kinds of communication technologies. I think that deserves a prize, don't you?
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Celia Johnson:
An argument actually broke out in a film course I was taking, mostly filled with pensioners, because someone called Celia Johnson "not that beautiful" while we were talking about Brief Encounter. I don't understand how anyone can watch that movie and say that, she's got such magnetism and I think she's so gorgeous!!!
This woman set the bar for romantic doomed love and NO ONE has ever bettered it.
Hedy Lamarr:
The only person you can find both on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in the Inventor's Hall of Fame--her radio-frequency-hopping technology forms the basis for cordless phones, wi-fi, and a dozen other aspects of modern life. She was also passionate in her efforts to aid the Allies in WWII (unsurprising for a Jewish-Austrian Emigree to America), and her name served as the backbone for one of the best running jokes in what is possibly Mel Brooks' best movie. Look, Louis B. Mayer apparently believed he could plausibly promote her as "The world's most beautiful woman". Is an entire website full of people going to be less audacious than one Louis B. Mayer? I didn't think so!
Described as "Hedy has the most incredible personal sophistication. She knows the peculiarly European art of being womanly; she knows what men want in a beautiful woman, what attracts them, and she forces herself to be these things. She has magnetism with warmth, something that neither Dietrich nor Garbo has managed to achieve" by Howard Sharpe, she managed to escape her controlling husband (and Nazi Germany) by a) Disguising as her maid and fleeing to Paris or b) Convincing the husband to let her wear all of her jewelry to a dinner, only to disappear afterwards. Also she was particularly clever and helped develop Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (I can't really explain it but anyway...)
One of the most beautiful women ever in film, spoken by many critics and fans. Beautiful shapely figure, deeper seductive voice, and often played femme fatale roles. She was also brilliant and an inventor. Mainly self-taught, she invested her spare time, including on set between takes, in designing and drafting inventions, which included an improved traffic stoplight and a tablet that would dissolve in water to create a flavored carbonated drink, and much more.
Her depiction of Delilah and Samson and Delilah just lives rent free in my head. The woman was gorgeous.
Gorgeous and brilliant pioneer of modern technology and the middle part.

Aemond x male valyrian dragonrider reader? Other than the Targaryens and velaryons there was another valyrian family that survived the doom, but unlike the other two this family was already very powerful in old valyria, after the doom they rebuilt themselves in essos. As well as having the most dragons (and the biggest) out of the descendants of valyria.
Anyways sowrry for the extra lore I just made up lol, aemond and reader meet when the Targaryens (and velaryons) are visiting reader's to-be-kingdom to establish an alliance
Zālagon and Vhagar// Aemond Targaryen x Male!reader.
Summary: You are the heir of a powerful valyrian House in Pentos. But the only thing you wished for was to fly day and night with your dragon. Only the lonely Prince Aemond can make the future look promising. Part 2
A/n: hi, thank you for reaching, I absolutely looooved the idea. I struggled a bit cuz it's so good it deserved a better pacing. I hope you like what I came up with. Gif not mine.
※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※As much as you were begged to be punctual, you and your dragon were distracted by the beautiful mountains that surrounded you. It was already dark when you arrived, and the carriages were the first thing you saw, then you caught sight of the dragons. Only one of them was comparable to yours, a green dragon. They all roared as you passed by, but your dragon remained calm until you reached the place where the others of its kind were resting. You couldn't even get water over your body before you were pushed by one of the lords of the castle to hurry up. There was no one at the entrance, nor in the throne room, which meant that they were already at dinner, and that you would be embarrassing your father. In your riding clothes, smelling of dragon, and sweaty from the run to the castle, the guards announced you and opened the gates. Blonde (and other brown) heads turned to look at you, and only your mother stood up to greet you. Giving you a kiss and apologising on your behalf, you were able to observe the family closely. King Viserys, old but kindly, said it was all right to wait for you. His wife, russet-haired, young and beautiful, remained serious. The heiress, Rhaenyra, watched without mock attire, smiling, though more to herself than to you. Her husband Daemon barely gave you a glance, not looking pleased with the event. Jace and Luke were the only brown haired boys at the table. Not even their eyes had Valyrian features, but they were formal. Aegon was more intent on filling his wine cup when dinner had not even begun, and his sister-wife Helaena was whispering things only she could hear. And all of them were easily overshadowed by him, Aemond Targaryen. His gaze did not lose power even after he kept one eye covered, and it was fixed on you. There was no expression, but you couldn't take your eyes off him either, engrossed in his whole persona.
You were seated opposite your father, and Aemond stood some distance away. But that didn't stop him from captivating you, and the exchange of glances became frequent. Your father spoke and listened to the king. The only other participant in the conversation was Jace, and Rhaenyra listened as her husband whispered things to her pointedly. Queen Alicent was quietly scolding every gesture of Aegon, who flirted shamelessly with anyone who came near him. You could see how your father tried to engage you in conversation, but whenever he caught your eye, you found your mind elsewhere (mostly in the Prince) and never responded nimbly. You could feel your father scolding you with his eyes.
"Have you come from flying?" The King asked you suddenly.
Everyone looked at you, it was quite obvious, but you couldn't just point it out to the king, so you nodded and tried to concentrate on something other than that serious blond prince.
"Yes, Your Majesty... I fly almost every day."
"Even if it rains?"
"That's when I enjoy it most, actually." Your answer brought a smile to his face, and you watched out of the corner of your eye as Aemond settled into his seat, sipping from his cup as he looked at you.
"My, you are a boy of courage," Viserys rewarded you.
"Though a foolish one too," your father interrupted. "He has trouble telling day from night."
You flushed, and the atmosphere grew a little tense. No one likes to hear that hateful tone between father and son.
"When one rides such a magnificent creature, my lord, time loses all meaning." Aemond's voice drew everyone's attention away. His hand caressed his goblet, and as he looked at your father with an expression of superiority. "Your son does well to presume what have made you mighty all these years."
Then he looked back at you, and you saw his expression soften. You couldn't help the smile that grew on your face, full of gratitude, and in complete agreement with him. Though your idea of dragons was not one to brag, it was certainly a useful one. You listened to your father try to find the right words without sounding offended.
"True, Prince Aemond," your mother supported him gently. "My husband has not ridden for years, but I have always admired our son's flying abilities. I've heard that Princess Rhaenyra first rode a dragon at the age of eight..."
"That's right," said the King, smiling at his daughter.
You watched as the Prince disappeared back into the shadow of his elder sister, only you seemed to be in awe of him, and you could not help but interrupt.
"Prince Aemond is the rider of Vhagar, the last dragon of the conquest, Mother." And then you watched as everyone fell silent again. The Velaryon brothers seemed to tense, and Aegon looked amused.
"The only dragon comparable to ours...no offence..." you continued. "How old were you when you claimed her?"
"He stole her," Lucerys added. Looking at him you saw how he was frowning and his mother was asking him to be quiet. "Princess Rhaena was supposed to claim it but the Prince couldn't respect her mourning before he stole Vhagar."
"I'm not going to argue with a child," the Prince said, taking another sip from his cup.
"A child who will one day be lord of Driftmark and outrank you. A child who plucked out your eye."
That was enough to make him rise to his feet, shouting bastard, and immediately a fistfight broke out between uncle and nephew. Your mother tried to pull you away, while your father commanded the guards to stop them. It was chaos, and you could see blood pouring from Aemond's nose, though blood came from Lucerys' mouth as well. And that was the end of the meal, but not of the night. When you followed your intuition, you discovered what you were looking for. On the mountain where Vhagar rested, the Prince sat, his silver mane being caressed by the air. He heard you coming, but did not turn to look. He didn't even say anything when you approached his side. He still had blood on his face, and you regretted not taking something to wipe it off.
"No one answered my question," you said. You saw a hint of a smile on his thin lips.
"I was ten years old when I claimed Vhagar."
His voice was extraordinarily sweet and yet it still managed to keep your heart beating fast. You felt you had to measure your words, but the urge to keep talking to him overcame you.
"Impressive, really."
"Impressive? You are the one who has been surrounded by dragons since you were a child. Ours are ridiculous in comparison." He finally turned to look at you.
"I was a very cowardly child. It took me fourteen years to ride for the first time on the only dragon that didn't terrify me."
"Strange for an heir of your house."
"I know." You ducked your head. It wasn't the first time you'd been made to feel inferior, like you were a mess. And you couldn't see the regret in the Prince that he had made an ill-advised comment.
"What is the name of your dragon?" He tried to bring the subject back to dragons. And your gaze went immediately to the distant mountain where it rested.
"Zālagon" you replied with a shy smile. A valyrian name.
"'Burn'?" He smiled back. "It's a good name for a dragon. A bit obvious, no offence..."
You laughed at his imitation of your comment at dinner. His leg pressed against yours and you could see that he was comfortable. Vhagar moved in place, with roars that begged his master to fly.
"You should let her fly around Essos. She looks bored here."
"I'd get lost if I went alone," Aemond said, returning to a serious tone.
"Maybe..." you tried to sound convinced, "I could lead you."
You didn't expect him to agree, but you were glad to propose, and before you knew it, Zālagon took flight with Vhagar trailing behind. The moon was full, and the lights of the rich city were guiding you. Both dragons roared in greeting and you could see Aemond enjoying himself as much as his dragon. Myr would be a good stop, a nice place and not too far away. You were ahead of him, your dragon was as big as Vhagar but not as old, for your family had managed to maintain the glory of dragons better than the Targaryens. You decided to amuse yourself, asking Zālagon to fly around Vhagar, and this began a race of ups and downs that put you and Aemond backwards on your mounts. And when Myr appeared at your feet, you flew straight into its harbour, in a race that Aemond was not prepared to lose.
As soon as you got off your dragons, you watched as they played together, not too far apart, enjoying each other's company.
"Vhagar is so big that she can't socialise with the other dragons. She can't even fit in the Dragonpit," the Prince confessed to you.
"Westeros is no place for Valyrian blood. Or so my father always says."
"Is that why you have never gone there?"
"And because it is here that we have built wealth similar to what we had."
You began to stroll along the shore, cloaks shrouding your appearance, but you could make out much of the Prince's face.
"I have read much about your house, my lord. It must be an honour to be heir to it." He sounded sincere, and you found it hard to disagree, but you had no desire to lie to him either.
"My father is obsessed with making it even greater." You heard a soft laugh from Aemond.
"And that is exactly why our visit has been arranged, because my father fears him."
"True. Though you and Prince Lucerys haven't left much time to talk, have you?" You tried to sound as light as he had sounded but he quickly turned serious again.
"I regret my behaviour," he confessed.
"No, Your Majesty, no apology is necessary. In fact...I'm sorry I brought up the subject of Vhagar. I didn't know it would provoke a confrontation."
"No, you didn't. No one expects the little bastard to be an imbecile..." he sounded rabid, his fists clenched.
"You're a Targaryen through and through by the looks of it."
That made him stop in his tracks. Indeed, it made you incredibly nervous and you feared for your words.
"Have I offended you?" you asked.
You watched as he shook his head, looking you up and down. He was so handsome, with that sharp face, his crystal blue eye. You walked on, watching as your dragons continued to amuse themselves. There he told you the true origin of the fight, the dispute over the throne and his father's indifference to him when he lost his eye.
"I have always aspired to something more, something of my own ability. But I have always been pushed into someone's shadow. They never wanted to listen to me and all my problems have been reduced to nonsense. And in the shadow one feels terribly lonely".
He shouldn't have told you all that, but something in you had pushed him to confide in you the things that grieved him. And before you went further away, taking care that no one could see you, you sat down under a tree that covered you both. There you were able to remove your hoods and saw that Aemond still had an open nose wound. You tore a strip of cloth from your cloak before grabbing a bottle of alcohol that you always carried for the many wounds you got on your travels.
"If you let me, I can disinfect it for you," you offered. He said nothing, just nodded, a little apprehensive. "It will only sting a little."
He made hardly a movement, just clenched his jaw from time to time, but nothing more. Then you remembered his eye and it all made sense. He was more than used to healing wounds. Your hands caressed his face and you tried to hold back everything that provoked you.
"I'm sure," you told him, "that dragons don't get stolen. And that Vhagar chose you."
"What makes you think that?" He looked sideways at you, his face close to yours as you cleaned his wound.
"She is the best dragon Targaryens have left alive, and she is surrounded by creatures who share her blood but do not match her. I have not had the pleasure of knowing your siblings well, but something tells me that none of them have the courage to claim a dragon of conquest at the age of ten. I think she saw herself reflected in you. Just as you must have seen yourself reflected in her."
"I've always thought the same thing, but I know if I said it out loud everyone would make fun of me."
"I would tell you that it's not like that, but I usually say what I think and it's true that they end up making fun of me." That made him smile.
"I get the feeling you don't enjoy being a firstborn and heir." He fixed his gaze on you again, serious but sweet.
"Everyone knows I won't do well."
"And how is that supposed to be known?"
"Well, because I don't want to do it myself. I'm not a leader. I've spent days studying lessons that any other kid would understand on the first try. I get distracted by anything and the only thing that makes me happy is to be flying anywhere so long as I don't set foot in the castle. With Zālagon I don't feel so...lost."
Perhaps it was too much information, too, but since Aemond had trusted you, perhaps you should show him that you trusted him. As you pulled the cloth away from his face, finishing your work, you felt Aemond's hand caress your fingers before pulling them away from him He surprised you and you saw his pupil dilate. Your eyes travelled alone all over his face, stopping especially on his thin lips.
"I've wanted to kiss you ever since I saw you appear through the doors."
His confession ruffled every hair on your body, and you were unaware of how long it took for your words to come out. But you managed to say them.
"Then do so, like the conqueror you are, Prince Aemond."
Your whispering voice tantalised his lips and he could take no more. He lunged forward, capturing your mouth slowly but insistently, and you could see that he had really longed for it. And maybe you hadn't understood it until that moment but your body was asking you to continue with the same fervour, placing your hands on his neck as he stroked your hair. The kiss continued as soon as you parted and you felt his warmth again, and if he didn't come closer you came closer. His lips always received you, so soft, so precise.
When dawn broke, it was hard to leave the coast behind, but the flight was even more fun than the way there. What would you do now? Your desire to leave Essos grew, but you didn't know that Aemond's desire to leave Westeros was also growing. He kissed you before returning to the castle, and along the way you could feel his fingers brushing yours constantly. If you were lucky, your parents' dealings would keep you in touch, whatever they were. But you decided not to worry about that, deciding to enjoy the visit. You spent some time practising with your swords, where Aemond proved to be a superb swordsman. You showed him the castle's library, where hundreds of writings from the ancient city of Valyria were kept. And of course, he visited your room when night came again, and that was his favourite place.
"I wish I could go with you," you said to him late into the night, lying in your bed and him beside you.
"I wish I could stay here forever..." he whispered back to you.
"You'd be missed."
"No. Not really."
You wanted to contradict him, but you couldn't even start a sentence when he shut you up with one of the hundreds of kisses you'd shared over the course of a few hours.
At the farewell dinner three days later, you decided to sit next to him, even if it meant moving away from your father.
"It is a pity, King Viserys, that we have not dealt with an arrangement to your liking," your father remarked.
That took you by surprise, and it seemed to Aemond as well. You prayed that no one had noticed how outcast the two of you had been all that time. But Rhaenyra's crooked smile at you let you know that it had been notice.
"A pity Helaena is already married and my nieces engaged. Perhaps the next generation can bond." The King seemed positive.
You looked at Aemond, trying to enjoy what little of his face you had left to see. He looked tremendously disappointed. If anyone had enjoyed Essos, it was him. Under the table, you put your hand on his leg, drawing his attention. He turned to give you a sad look. You wouldn't let it end. If he didn't stay, you would leave.
"Father," you put in a firm voice, releasing Aemond. "Perhaps we could unite our houses in another way, without marriage."
"And how on earth would that be done?"
You didn't know. So you resorted to a list of pros that had been rattling around in your head all day.
"Prince Aemond has no official duties at King's Landing. He is far from the Throne and knows the politics of Essos and Pentos well. Perhaps far better than I... it would be a great help to have him around." Your father looked at you disapprovingly, but still said nothing. You were about to give up. "Besides, his dragon has befriended Zālagon..."
"His dragon..." he replied wryly, "of course."
He was going to say no, but King Viserys smiled at the idea.
"Aemond," he said, looking at him, "do you wish to stay here?"
They all waited for his answer, and for an exaggeratedly long second you feared you would make a fool of yourself and see him disappear.
"Yes, father. I would be honored."
Both fathers looked at each other, and when your father stood up, he raised his glass.
"To peace between Valyrians!" He proclaimed.
Everyone joined in the toast, but you found it hard to drink just from the joy that filled your whole body. You watched as Aemond smiled sheepishly before looking up at you. He nodded at you, grateful. For once, his father had done him a favour. That night he slept with you again, and the next night you slept in his room, and the night after that you slept in the mountains of Pentos. And so you travelled the world for decades, always together, flying. At your side, Aemond's intelligence had a place at the table, men followed his orders and it was at your side that he stayed through crises, battles and feasts. Your most loyal advisor and you were his most loyal companion in life.
Never again did any of you feel alone or lost.

Last X-mas (Part One)
Mary Goore x f!Reader
Summary: A shitty xmas party brings you and Mary a little closer. (900 words)(Part One takes place before Winter Chill and Part Two takes place after the other More Goore stories ♥) tags: prequel kinda?, more Goore '24 universe, he/they Mary. warnings: Mary's a little depressed, Reader's boyfriend is an asshole, manipulative behavior. (These things are barely there, but I want everyone to be safe ♥)
Note: Mary anon, your prompt is also included in part 2. I got carried away tbh. ♥ soft Mary forever.
There was nothing worse than a bad party. Scratch that. There was nothing worse than being stuck at a bad party. But there Mary was leaning against a wall at Chaos House, stuck and not having any fun. The living room was full of people in ugly sweaters despite the intense heat being created by said idiots writhing in the tiny space. A poorly decorated artificial tree stood in the corner bent at an odd angle because no one ever properly stored the thing, they just tossed it down the basement stairs when its time was up. Around him, people were having a great time laughing and dancing. But his beer was warm, his mood was sour, and he couldn’t help thinking he wasn’t supposed to be here.
As much as he loved his friends, watching them all dance to blast beats over that George Michael song wasn’t enough to distract him from all the shit that had gone wrong that year. That shitty relationship. The even shittier breakup afterward. That driver’s test mishap. That job offer in the city that fell through—the one that was supposed to get him out of this shitty little town. Part of him knows this was for the better somehow—that relationship was already beyond doomed, that job would have fucking sucked and he didn’t have a car anyway. But his mind still wandered through all the ways the next year could’ve been different if he wasn’t such a spectacular fuck up.
They dragged themselves away from the party and slipped through the back door undetected. It was a moonless night and the light on the back porch had burned out at least a year ago, but Chaos House didn’t earn its name ironically and Mary didn’t really mind sulking in the dark alone. They dropped into a chair in a shadowy corner, lit a cigarette, and stared up at the sky. The universe carried on spinning and whatever momentary calm that and the nicotine had brought them was quickly undone by the sudden appearance of you. In all their pathetic self-loathing they hadn’t even realized you were at this party and that, for some unknown reason, made them feel ten times worse.
But there you were, adorable as ever, with sparkles in your hair and a weird Krampus on your shirt.
They sat up and opened their mouth to speak as you passed, not wanting to scare you by being a creep in the shadows. But you marched straight past, heavy boots stomping like you were on an angry mission. Like you were escaping and you couldn’t get away fast enough. You were halfway down the steps before the door flew open and your shitty boyfriend appeared. He crossed the deck without noticing Mary and quickly caught up to you.
“Why are you being like this?” he hissed as he caught your arm to stop you. “It’s not a big deal!”
You whipped around with fire in your eyes and pried yourself free of his grip. It was obvious now that you’d been crying and the more you tried to get away from the guy, the more Mary could tell you were drunk. On unsteady feet, you managed to back out of his reach, mumbling as you swiped at your face and smeared your makeup even more.
“Not a big deal?” you asked through gritted teeth. “You’re such a fucking asshole.”
Mary’s stomach sank. He leaned further into the shadows, embarrassed about overhearing such an intense and clearly private conversation. He never liked the guy and couldn’t give a fuck less about what happened to him, but you—god, you deserved so much better than this dipshit.
“C’mon don’t be like that,” he groaned and reached for you.
“Don’t fucking touch me,” you warned, stumbling back a few steps.
“God, you’re really going to act like this? It’s not a big deal—”
“If you say that one more time I’m going to kick you in the dick.”
“Whatever. You’re just mad because you’re drunk. Let’s go,” he ordered in an annoyed tone and tried to wrangle you back up the steps.
“Don’t touch me—”
“Hey!” Mary shouted as he stood. He rushed from his spot in the dark and leaned hard into your boyfriend, shoving him away from you. “She said don’t touch her.”
“Oh, Jesus Christ, not you,” he groaned, rolling his eyes. “Mind your own fucking business, Goore.”
“Nah, this is my business now, so why don’t you fuck off?”
“You know what? Fine. Why don’t you take her home since you love her so much. I’m fucking done,” he huffed and stormed off.
Mary stood silently, watching as the hulking shadow of your asshat boyfriend made his way around the outside of the house. Seconds later a car door slammed and tires spun, leaving you and him awkwardly alone outside.
He turned toward you and cleared his throat. “I…uh— “
“Don’t,” you begged quietly.
“Wasn’t gonna. You ok?”
“No,” you admitted shaking your head. “Why is he so…”
“I don’t know. Probably because he’s a dick.”
You sniffed hard and wiped the tears away with the back of your hand. “I wanna go home.”
His chest grew tight. The only thing you wanted at that moment was something he couldn’t really give you himself. “You want me to help you find a ride?”
“Nah, I’ll be ok.” You looked up at him with big, sad eyes. “Thank you, Mary.”
He shrugged. “It’s nothin’.”
“It’s something, Goore. Accept it.”
“Okay.”
You gave him a soft smile and a tiny wave before making your way back up to the house.
“Hey, uh…Merry Christmas or whatever,” he called after you.
You snorted and turned back to him. “It’s July.”

dabihawks, pro heroes au
It was embarrassing, really, to be standing here off to the sides sulking at a party like this, especially over something so very not important.
There were a lot of things that were important to Keigo Takami, aka pro hero Hawks, and winning was certainly not one of them.
Justice, peace, freedom, good food, a safe place to rest, those were important things in Keigo's life.
Winning was NOT up there.
So why the hell did this bother him so much?
He had just broken the Top 10 rankings during his first year as a pro, that was crazy, that was unheard of!
Except for the fact that pro hero Super Nova did it last year.
The first one who ever did.
And look, that wasn't even fair, because Keigo hadn't even debuted yet!
But now he was doomed to be the second one out. The second youngest to break though top 10, and he was still ranked behind goddamn Super Nova.
All that training with the commission, his whole life dedicated to this, and sure, he saved a lot of people, and that should matter the most, but...
Of course it mattered the most.
Keigo sighed deeply, took a sip of the Champagne that he definitely should not be drinking, blew his bangs out of his face, and used his wings to push himself away from the wall he'd been clinging to.
...right into another person.
"Oh shit, I mean, oops, I'm sorry!" Keigo stammered nervously, all the social training he'd been undergoing flying out the window.
He tried to put on a charming but apologetic smile as he looked up, but it quickly fell from his face as he realized he's just pushed himself right into goddamn Super Nova.
Of all the fucking people at this party.
The (beautiful) white haired man looked down at him with those (striking) blue eyes and raised his hands in surrender.
"Hey kid, no worries!" he said with a real charming smile, and Keigo just about fucking had it.
"I'm not a kid."
He didn't quite mean for the sentence to come out that venomous, but fuck it. The guy kinda deserved it.
"What?" Super Nova asked, clearly confused by Keigo's reaction.
Keigo rolled his eyes.
"I'm barley a year younger than you."
Super Nova nodded.
"I know, I didn't mean anything by it, I just -"
"See me as inferior?" Keigo finished the sentence for him, and realized he probably should have stopped after one glass of Champagne.
He could not handle alcohol to have his life.
The friendliness fell off Super Nova's face totally now, and he grabbed Keigo but the upper arm gently, but firmly.
"I think you need some air," he declared, and Keigo couldn't find it in himself to disagree.
The white haired hero guided Keigo out to a small balcony out in the long hallway outside the gala room, and the fresh air hitting his face was one of the most amazing things Keigo had ever felt.
Maybe next to the other hero's hand around his arm.
Wait, what?
"You feelin' any better?" said hero asked, and Keigo nodded.
"Yeah, I guess," he mumbled, and damn Super Nova smirked at him again.
This time however, it wasn't fury that bloomed in Keigo's chest.
"Champagne and warm, stuffy galas gets to the best of us, man," the other pro said casually, and Keigo rolled his eyes.
"What, because you have so much experience with that?" Keigo asked sarcastically, but to his surprise Super Nova nodded.
"Yeah, actually, I do," he said with a smirk as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his suit jacket.
Of fucking course.
He held on up to offer to Keigo, and calmly put I back when Keigo shook his head.
"Don't you want on yourself?" Keigo asked, and Super Nova shrugged.
"It's okay, if you don't smoke I bet you don't want me puffing smoke up in your face, either."
Keigo pursed his lips.
"Oh. Thanks, I guess," he mumbled, and Super Nova chuckled.
"No worries, little bird."
Keigo felt his mouth fall open at the nerve of this guy, but didn't say anything.
"Anyways, it was my second gala as a pro, I had five glasses of Champagne because of the heat and ended up cursing out my dad in front of all the poor people in the kitchen of this place," Super Nova finished with a shake of his head.
"Not my finest moment."
Keigo tilted his head, trying to figure out if he was being serious.
"What, you yelled at Endeavor if front of the whole kitchen staff?" he finally asked, and got rewarded with a slightly surprised expression on the other man's face.
"So you do know," he said, and it was finally Keigo's turn to smirk.
"That you're a Todoroki?" he asked, and the other man nodded.
"I might be fresh on the pro circuit, but I wasn't born yesterday," Keigo said as he felt a brave flare in his chest and decided to lean closer to the other hero to whisper;
"Touya."
Touya smirked back at him, taking the bait and leaning in further himself.
"Well I'd be damned, little bird," he said slyly.
Keigo felt his face turn pink, but didn't back down.
"I wasn't the second youngest to break into the top 10 circuit for nothing, you know," he said with a wink, and Touya laughed softly.
"First one who wasn't a nepo baby, tho," the other hero said with a wink back at him.
Keigo raised his eyebrows as he finally leaned back a little.
"Maybe not in the traditional way, no, but..." he trailed off, not sure how to explain the whole commission thing just like that.
Touya raised his eyebrows.
"But?" he asked with a curious tilt of his head.
"But, I think I need a little more champagne before I'm ready for that conversation," Keigo admitted, and Touya smirked.
"Well, I happen to know my way around the kitchen of this place, so if I get the Champagne, and you'll give me the full story?"
Krig chuckled.
"I guess that would be a fair trade," he admitted, and Touya smiled back.
"Meet you back here in five?" he asked, and Keigo nodded.
"Deal," he agreed, and Touya snickered.
"Deal, indeed, little bird."

✨ THE DAN AND PHIL LORE pt. 3✨
CHECK OUT PART 2: https://www.tumblr.com/ashleyeveerson/760707933651746816?source=share
Phil ALSO comes out! (yeah no i'm not crying what? not them feeling comfortable enough to be themselves yeah). 2019 also brings us the adoption of a fish named Norman (a cutie) AND they also post pictures about their recent trip to Japan [the photo of Phil looking up to Dan behind the camera? yeah i am so normal about it, i swear]. There is hope in the horizon still for a Dan and Phil comeback...
BAM! A certain virus runs wild and forces everyone to stay at home. Phil continues to upload solo videos which distracted so many of us during these dark times. Dan, however is AWOL and the only pic we have of him is a shitty screenshot of him in glasses and a mask helping Phil rescue an injured pigeon (lockdown was WILD).
Also, my boy Dan post a cryptic tweet that leads to the announcement of a self-help book named YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS NIGHT (because you will <3). Nah but I can't count how many times I've sobbed reading it, just him trying to help out others who have also struggled with mental health... istg i love this man
Hey so THEY BUY THEIR FOREVER PHOUSE TOGETHER they're gonna kill me one day istg. "Dan and Phil just decided to pay a mortgage together", top 10 sentences that would kill a 2016 phan. They are slaying, they are glowing... also rip Norman the fish you will not be forgotten
So during 2014 the fates (aka a random youtuber) foretold that Dan and Phil would be married in 2022. Since that clearly didn't happen the meme PHIVORCE united the phandom once more. ALSO Dan is out there shitting on youtube (as he should) and going on his solo tour WE'RE ALL DOOMED! Which i love with all my heart and also Phil being there for him every step of the way... AHHHHHHHH
Anyways a certain video called Dan and Phil finally tell the truth hits the internet and let's just say GOD DAMN. This also starts a wonderful trend amongst Dan and Phil in which they make fun of their audience (we deserve it ngl) and absolutley SHOCK US with new information about bonkers shit from their past [apparently they were offered a threesome MULTIPLE TIMES???]
It's the end. They've decided to give up their channel "Dan and Phil Games" forever... let's take a moment and silent and mourn with a compilation of Heart eyes Howell
...
SIKE! We're back baby and we're better than ever!!! The goodbye video turned out the be an ANNOUNCEMENT of their comeback. They are back, Dil Howlter is here and Phil confesses to having dyed everything green in the house when Dan went on tour bc he missed him (OH GOD). Also, the Halloween baking video introduced us to the icon that is.... *drumroll please*
SISTER DANIEL, the queen of making everyone reconsider their sexuality... she is the moment, she is an icon and she is serving astronomical levels of cunt at all time [jokes aside, Dan being comfortable enough to do drag in public, fuck they've come so far i'm so proud of them <3].
And here we are in the future, it's present day and they are queerer and happier than ever. THE PICTURES I CAN'T ISTG. Also Dan's Birthday stream is beyond iconic. First of all my unproblematic kings make it a charity stream to donate to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund (using their public influence for good hell yeah)... And how did they raise the money you ask? WELL BY HITTING IS WHERE WE'RE WEAKEST. Sister Daniel makes a spectacular comeback, FATHER PHIL is introduced and Dan even dyes his hair red to be more Good Omens coded... which timeline are we living in again? like how is any of this real?
Also them drawing the PINOF whiskers on their faces again... they're literally growing old together I'm gonna go sob in a corner. Also the fake apology video bc they have no fashion sense in the Sims 4 is hilarious as fuck. HOW CAN THEY POSSIBLY BE SO MUCH HOTTER ON THEIR THIRTIES EXPLAIN??
anyways the phandom is still speculating wether they're erasing "i love you's" at the end of their text when they show them on videos... guess some things never change. Nah but the vibes are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOW, they are more open than they've ever been and participate on the phan culture FULLY to the point that they're the ones terrorizing us now.
QUICK DETOUR TO TALK ABOUT PHIL'S FAMOUS BAD LUCK (and then they wonder why he's always dying in the fanfics). Nah but my poor man has had his fair share of medical problems, the most recent being...
OH GOD WHY WOULD YOU ANNOUNCE SOMETHING LIKE THAT THIS WAY?? nah like using humor as a coping mechanism and all but do they wanna gives a heart attack?! iconic i fear however
So yeah the video where they talk about it is WILD (funniest shit about the whole ordeal is that a nurse mistook Dan as Phil's son). Also I saw a tweet speculating about Phil having a hickey like... first of all what is it? 2009? Second of all IT'S MOST LIKELY A POPPED VESSEL FROM LOSING ALL THAT BLOOD YOU KNOW
They still were able to go on their vacation (aka the rodent boy summer) which gifted us with this iconic pics... ALSO they dropped a new Dan and Phil beats for summer go check out the names of the tracks istg they wanna kill their fans.
Nothing is sacred anymore, they've infiltrated twtphan, they're actively reposting memes and writing fanfiction about themselves. It's the wild west, everytime you get a notification is like playing Russian Rulet. Cringe is dead and Dan and Phil ARE COMING NEAR YOUR CITY on a tour named "Terrible Influence" where Phil's spent 300€ on silicone. It's a wonderful time to be a phan.
OKAY SO here's some stuff that didn't make the cut but that i find too hilarious to not mention. In no apparent order: DAN DRESSING UP AS A CATBOY, Dan and Phil playing technicians 1 and 2 on Big Hero 6 and two brothers on the Lion King (wtf was that also they gave the gorilas matching fringes), Dan dressing up as a golden pig (my boy has RANGE) and finally Dan being too embarassed to admit he stalked Phil and telling a reporter he was only asking for "editing tips" if you know what i mean
Also a short compilation of Dan and Phil losing the idgaf war against eachother THEY ARE SO THOUGHTFUL ABOUT EVERYTHING. Special mention to Daniel's 🧡 when Phil praised "We're all doomed!" and Dan's ranch metaphor to describe their relationship (just go watch the mukkbang video OH LORD)
SO, in conclusion... Dan and Phil's refusal to belittle their past and instead embrace it as part of their story while actively moving into the future alongside the phandom YEAH THAT SHIT MEANS SOMETHING. They're simultaneously healing our inner child while embracing us as the adults we've become i have many feelings about them
So what are they?
They're just Dan and Phil.
#dan and phil#dan howell#phil lester#this is my coping mechanism bc i'm freaking out about TIT#dan and phil games#phan#dnp#dip and pip#dnptit

The relevance of chronology in IZ is dubious at best (in the show—it is flat-out non-existent in the comics), but I do kind of love to think about it regardless because there are so many weirdly specific points of internal continuity, practically and sometimes even emotionally, that we can't pretend there's absolutely nothing to examine there, even if the degree to which it matters is next to null. And anyway, I love a fool's errand.
So with that disclaimer I'd just like to talk about everyone's favorite organ harvesting episode and how much it kills me when examined in the context of an on-going continuity, because it's not just one of the most horrifying things Zim ever does across canon, it's really the first horrifying thing that Dib is present to bear witness to, at least on that scale. For all that NanoZim must've been scary and violating on a personal level, it was ultimately still a contained, targeted attack, and not even an unjustified one—not that Dib would consciously think of it this way, but Zim was acting in reasonable self-defense, he just chose to be really brutal and vindictive as he did so. Plus, Dib did come out on top of that encounter, so there were no real lasting consequences besides losing his evidence, which only put him back to square one. Basically, it was a great basis for forming a personal grudge, but it didn't really say anything about how generally malicious or threatening Zim actually was outside the context of their quickly-coalescing rivalry. Zim's only a monster at this point insofar as it's fun for Dib to have a dragon to defeat. The danger he poses does not yet hang over Dib's head like a guillotine.
Dark Harvest, though. In Dark Harvest, Zim shows just how capable he is of committing brutality on total bystanders at a mass scale under much less urgent circumstances without so much as a trace of hesitation or remorse—and by the end of it, Dib learns firsthand how severe the consequences for losing to Zim can actually be. Healed through the miracle of the status quo reset button or not... well.
And this adds a lot of context to why Dib spends the rest of the series so totally convinced of the danger Zim poses, even if most of the time that POV is extreme overkill. If he ever starts to doubt the necessity of his mission, just think about the time Zim stole a bunch of kids' organs, and that's irrefutable proof that Zim CAN accomplish terrible things if left unchecked. If he ever starts to doubt the morality of his intentions, just think about the time Zim stole a bunch of kids' organs (and would do so again!), and he can rest easy knowing Zim deserves every terrible consequence coming for him. If he ever forgets why he absolutely cannot afford to let his guard slip for even a second, just think about the time Zim stole a bunch of kids' organs, including Dib's, and now he remembers exactly why it's so important Zim's never allowed to gain the upper-hand. Even when he finally ditches Zim in Mopiness of Doom, it's not because he stops seeing Zim as a threat, it's that he's gotten too burnt out on single-handedly saving the world all the time to care.
(Gaz, of course, was there too and still thinks Zim is harmless, but Gaz also thinks expressing pain after having your entire lower body melted into off-brand bug spray makes you a whiner, so let's not put too much stock in her judgement here)
Even during Dark Harvest, Dib's immediate response upon finding Zim is to tell him this is totally beyond the pale, as if Zim might actually care—and while Dib trying to convince Zim he's acting totally unhinged isn't exactly unusual throughout the show, past this point he usually does so by appealing to Zim's self-interest ("stop trying to blow up the planet, you're still ON the planet") rather than any hypothetical better nature or good sense, can you even imagine. But that's exactly what he does here, reflexively or not, and that to me is a perfect demonstration of how this episode marks a radical shift in what Dib thinks he's up against.
And for some bonus meta? This also stretches into The Wettening in a really fun way, which is the second episode after Dark Harvest and the first with Dib. The sheer glee Dib takes in exploiting the new-found weakness for all it's worth, just because he can, makes a lot of sense in the wake of Dark Harvest and his new understanding of Zim as an out-of-control inhuman lunatic he has no idea how to stop. Seeing Zim vulnerable to something, openly afraid, and in obviously agonizing pain—well, humanizes would be the wrong word under the circumstances, but it cuts him back down to mortal size. He might be tough, and he might be terrifying, but he's not invincible. Even after Zim very unambiguously wins that fight and finds a way to protect himself from Earth's water, the important take-away is that there are things that can hurt him—Dib just has to figure out what they are. If Dark Harvest is the episode that shows Dib Zim is truly a monster, The Wettening is the episode to teach him even real monsters can be defeated.

Felix July - Tragic
Yes, I know this is years late. I hope it's worth it.
Follow up to the Betrayal prompt and an aftermath of Party Crasher:
*Click*
With that, the call ended. Felix gave a small sigh of relief.
At least that whole mess was over with. Mostly.
He looked up at the multitude of girls appearing all too pleased.
“I expect you’ll be having quite a few tokens of appeasement waiting for you come Monday. Maybe sooner.” He stated, returning his phone to his pocket.
“Thank you, Felix.” Alya said, sounding almost downright pleasant towards him for once.
“Don’t you think that was a bit mean?” Marinette asked. “I mean, they were doing it for Adrien.”
“The problem isn’t the party for Adrien, it’s that they lied to us about it and left us with all this work to handle by ourselves in the process.” Alya countered.
Mylene nodded. “It took a lot of planning to set this whole thing up and having most of the male portion of the city duck out at the last minute for a party they just set up that day is downright rude.” She looked away, pouting and muttering something about no kisses for a week.
Marinette felt a hand on her shoulder, drawing her gaze up to Felix. “They knew they would likely cause problems by doing this and chose to do so anyway. And so they decided to lie to try to avoid being caught. Whatever happens is a direct result of their actions, regardless of the supposed goodness of their reasons.”
“You’re saying that because they left you to nearly get your eyes clawed out.” Marinette pointed out.
His eye twitched. “But am I wrong?”
Well, he really wasn’t…
“Still…” She remained uncertain.
“They could have just invited Adrien and his bodyguard to help out here rather than start a party.” Rose pointed out.
“And leave all the work for us.” Alya added—because yes, she was still bitter about that.
“I still say we should use them as fertilizer.” Alix grumbled.
“Girls, this is a community project, meant to be for the community, not made up of the community.” Mylene reasoned.
“Even if they deserve it.” Juleka snarked, also still miffed and unwilling to let it go.
Rose smiled, beaming. “Still, that girls’ party sounds like a good idea.”
“It’d be a nice reward after all this.” Mylene agreed.
“Not to mention a nice petty revenge at the boys.” Alix said with a grin.
Marinette laughed, seeming relieved with the peaceful solution. “Better than killing them, at any rate.”
Felix clapped his hands, seemingly nonchalant.
“Well then, I hope you all have fun.” And with that, he turned to walk away.
Only to be stopped by a hand on his shoulder and a smiling Alya.
…he did not like that smile. Not one bit.
The increasing grip on his being only added to his trepidation.
Alya, naturally, had no concern for this.
“Don’t say that, Felix! You’re coming too.”
A pause.
“What?”
____________
The week passed in relative normalcy. Emphasis on “relative” as it did still involve the drama of half of his classmates cowering and/or groveling before the other half. As well as much bemoaning, harrumphing, occasional begging, and the daily occurrence of walking into the classroom to be greeted by the sight of an array of flowers, candy, and gift baskets on the desks of one or more of the girls in the class each time he entered.
But it was surprisingly akuma-free, so Felix would consider it normal. An odd sort of normal, but normal nonetheless. It was nice. Peaceful, even.
…if not for the sense of impending doom he could feel creeping on him the more of the week that passed and the closer they got to the weekend—and the time of the planned “party”.
Felix knew that going to the party would be a bad idea. And not just because it was a girls’ slumber party. Or one that the girls in his class were throwing out of sheer spite due to the impromptu party the boys had thrown without them when they were supposed to be working together on that community project. Or because the girls in question had previously threatened his eyes. It was partly due to those things, certainly, but not solely.
He simply did not want to go. Period.
But like with many things in his life, Felix‘s feelings weren’t so much overlooked as they were completely disregarded.
Going to a party for the girls was not something Felix had any interest in. He wasn’t a people person in the first place and a slumber party with a number of teenage females was far from his idea of a good time, regardless of what his peers may believe. Furthermore, he was sure there were rules—or were SUPPOSED to be rules concerning the presence of boys at such things.
But apparently this was his punishment for his part in Lahiffe’s plot. Despite the fact he’d had no interest or involvement in that either. And had even been the one to explain what was going on.
Truly life was cruel.
Or maybe it was just Cesaire trying to make him miserable.
...considering the gleeful smirk on her face when she informed him of this decision, he was inclined to believe the latter.
“Don’t worry, Felix! It’ll be fun!” Assured Adrien Agreste, who was apparently either completely ignorant of what was to come or was simply a masochist.
And no, the fact that he would not be suffering this torment alone was no comfort.
“I’m so excited!” Agreste squeed—actually squeed the way the boy’s own fangirls did. Felix wanted to die from embarrassment on his behalf.
“I know! I can’t wait!” Agreed Whayhem Marot, whom Felix was sure would enjoy the event regardless simply as long as Agreste was there.
Felix twitched.
Why was he the only one who recognized it as the punishment it was? Even the other males in the class seemed to see this as a desirable or dare he even say enviable circumstance.
“Felix. Bro. We got to talk.”
Case in point: Nino Lahiffe as he grabbed Felix and dragged him across the courtyard to some impromptu meeting with the other idiotic males of the class. And Couffaine.
This was his life now, apparently.
“What is it?” Felix demanded. Demanded quite reasonably, in his opinion—given the grabbing and the forced interaction.
“Dude. While you’re there, don’t be looking at my girl.” Lahiffe warned him. Backed by the other relationship-bound males in the class whom were also giving him stern looks and nodding in agreement in defense of their respective girlfriends and girl friends.
Not that Felix had any interest in observing any of the aforementioned females in states of undress. And again, didn’t want to be there to begin with.
“But get pictures. We need pics, man!”
He wasn’t sure he would be able to be able to take pictures at all with the girls watching him. Much less take pictures of anyone when he wasn’t allowed to look at them.
“And details!”
“Yeah!”
More to the point...
Felix raised a hand in exasperation. “There are two problems with this. The first being that I don’t know anything about slumber parties.”
“It’s…y’know. Slumber. And parties.” Lahiffe frowned before turning to the others. “Guys, back me up!”
“I have compiled a list of top activities that tend to take place at slumber parties, along with their detailed explanations for your purposes.” Kante offered, holding out a ream of papers clipped together that could practically be its own book.
Felix shoved it back to the shorter boy with a glare.
“The second problem is that I don’t care.”
“Man, seriously?” Le Chien demanded, as if the reason Felix should want to go was supposed to be obvious. “This is a party! With girls!”
A pause.
Felix raised an eyebrow.
“...And?”
Le Chien scratched his head. “That’s…kind of supposed to be the reason.”
He turned away. “And I’m done here.”
Frustratingly, Lahiffe blocked his way.
“Come on, Felix! Adrien is going! Would you really let Adrien go to a girls’ party all alone?”
“Yes.” He replied without even the slightest hesitation.
If it was his choice, who was Felix to interfere? Or be needed to put himself at risk? Because that was the difference—Agreste actually WANTED to go and possibly meet death. A brutal, painful, burning, scarring death.
“Dude! You’re really just going to leave Adrien on his own?”
“I fail to see how that would be my problem.”
Or why they weren’t bugging Agreste about getting these desired ‘pics’.
“Besides, Marot is going so he won’t be ‘alone’, as you say.” Felix stated, even going so far as to make ‘quotation’ gestures for emphasis.
Lahiffe coughed. “Wayhem is…cool and all. But he’s a fanboy! And about as innocent as Adrien is!”
“Then they can learn together. Starting with why adolescent males should not be at slumber parties with adolescent females.”
“Oh come on, do you really think those two would do anything?” Le Chien questioned.
He said that like anyone would think Agreste and Marot would be the ones to worry about instead of the victims.
Felix expected that there would be bodybags.
…he expected one of those bags to be his own.
But on that note…
“Why isn’t Couffaine going?” He asked, gesturing to the musician who had apparently stopped by to drop off a delivery for the girls that likely had to do with the party in question.
Because surely, surely he of all people wouldn’t have earned the girls’ ire.
“Because Luka joined the guys’ party.”
Felix shot Luka a withering look.
“You disappoint me.”
Luka smiled, nervous and apologetic. “Sorry.”
“Make no mistake.” Felix stated, turning back to the others. “If I had any say in the matter, I would not be going to this party. At all.”
“Too bad you don’t have a choice!” Cesaire chirped, coming upon the group with a vicious smirk that made the other males scramble away like the dirty cowards they were. “We’ll be set for the night and you’re not allowed to run. Or we will know.”
Felix sighed.
How they had gotten his mother on board with this, he had no idea.
“This is a punishment, isn’t it?“
“What?” Cesaire fake gasped. “You’re going to be spending the night with a bunch of pretty girls, eating plenty of junk food and baked goods, and having tons of fun! How is that a punishment?“ She asked, fluttering her eyes at him.
Felix glared at her, unimpressed.
“I despise fun.”
“Careful Felix.” She said all too sweetly. “I would almost think you were rejecting our kind offer.“
Ah, yes. The “kind offer“ to not claw out his eyes at the low cost of one night of humiliation and degradation that would no doubt be used to haunt him for the rest of his life.
...he could learn Braille.
________________
The night of the party came, and at late afternoon, Felix was “escorted” to Le Grand Paris.
And by “escorted”, he meant “kidnapped”.
Not that his mother cared.
“Goodbye, Felix!” She called out, waving happily while seemingly ignoring the fact that he was literally being dragged away. “I’ll see you in the morning! Have fun!”
Evil woman. Evil vile woman.
“Come on, Felix! You don’t want to be late!” Cesaire said, all too cheerfully.
“I could just not go.” He muttered. He could very well hide out under a bridge. That would be unpleasant for the night, but still better than what was to come.
“How cute! He thinks he has a choice!” Cesaire cooed as she and Kubdel each stood on either side of him—likely to prevent him from escaping.
He gave her a flat glare. “Die. Die and come back as something pleasant.”
Cesaire just grinned smugly. Kubdel, for her part, rolled her eyes but went along with Cesaire.
It was clear there would be no avoiding this. All Felix could do was accept his fate and begrudgingly walk with the girls to the car that would be taking them to the party.
The only good thing to come of this was that Rossi would not be in attendance as she had not helped out with the volunteer project either.
Though Felix suspected that was just the official excuse so as to prevent discord during the night between Dupain-Cheng and Rossi…
…as well as prevent him from following through on his threat to jump out the first window available, regardless of relative distance to the ground.
You win this round, gravity.
“Hi, Felix!” Agreste greeted as Felix and his “escorts” entered the car.
Felix merely grunted in acknowledgment as the doors closed and his moving tomb started to head towards their destination.
Somehow, though for the life of him he would never understand precisely how, the girls had managed to convince Agreste’s anal-retentive father to consent to his son going to an all-girls’ slumber party.
Which would quite frankly be a miracle in and of itself. Felix has heard enough of the man over the years to know that this should have been an impossible feat. Even if Gabriel Agreste was the sort of man to believe in something as asinine as “fun”, no sensible parent would want to allow males at a sleepover comprising mostly of teenage daughters. And while Felix did question Mr. Agreste’s precise position on the line between “sensible” and “idiotic”, he had been sure that even that man would know better—if only to protect his slowly dying business from the scandal of his son spending a night with a bunch of girls.
Felix suspected some form of blackmail may have been involved.
Or mind control.
Agreste was clearly excited, practically bouncing in his seat. “This will be my first sleepover!”
“Mine too!” Merot chimed in.
It would be Felix’s as well, but that hardly meant it was a life goal and for the life of him, Felix didn’t understand why anyone would think it should be.
As the others continued chatting, Felix was contemplating the pros and cons of jumping out of a moving vehicle. They weren’t going too quickly. Maybe if he ducked and rolled? Or waited until it came to a complete stop?
Either fortunately or not, his contemplations were cut short as they had rather quickly arrived at the destination.
The Grand Hotel.
“It was really nice of Chloe’s Dad to let us have the party here!” Adrien said cheerfully.
Alya smiled.
Felix did not trust that smile. At all.
While none of the girls explained how they had gotten permission to use the hotel main event room for this party, Felix highly suspected that Mayor Bourgeois’s unusual acquiesce to their request had less to do with any good will than it did the very real threat that the girls involved were classmates of his daughter and could easily tell her that he had gone to that party at the mansion.
Adrien’s mansion.
Adrien. Her “best friend”.
A party SHE was not invited to.
To say she would be furious would be an understatement. And the fact that he had managed to keep his involvement secret from her was impressive in its own right. And maybe it would have worked out for him if Cesaire wasn’t involved and looking for vengeance.
Felix sympathized somewhat with the man. Only somewhat because….well…a grown man—and an easily recognizable politician at that? Going to that party was still an incredibly stupid thing to do. Not to mention somewhat creepy.
Andre Bourgeois seemed to think Felix was a kindred spirit as he smiled shakily at the boy, as if looking for some sympathy.
Or perhaps silently praying for him.
Felix would take the latter. He’d need all the help he could get to make it through this night.
The event room in question where the sleepover would be taking place was one of the hotel’s executive suites. There was a central room as well as two side bedrooms and a separate kitchen area. Not that Felix expected there to be much cooking if the laptop Haprele was opening up to the selection of a nearby pizzeria was any indication.
Lavillant and the younger Couffaine were already present and arranging the food and plates. Kubdel seemed to be setting up the television for various video games and movies.
Which left…
“Sorry I’m late!” Dupain-Cheng’s arrival was announced with an apology and a bang as she tried to open the door while holding several boxed of what he reasonably assumed were various pastries.
And with that, the gang was all here.
“Oh, let me help you with that, Marinette!” Agreste offered.
Felix prepared to step in himself. Knowing that girl’s crush, him coming closer to her would make her more likely to drop her cargo than help.
But he hadn’t needed to.
“No worries! I’ve got it!” Came a cheerful voice as another girl came in from behind her. She had tan skin and short red hair. And she seemed muscled, so the multitude of packages alongside her own bags were no trouble to her.
“Thanks, Odine!” Dupain-Cheng said, looking relieved.
Oh right. He remembered now. That girl was Le Chein’s girlfriend, Odine Soares. But why was she there?
As if sensing his confusion, Cesaire smirked. “Odine was invited to our party since she was also left out of the boys’.”
Soares settled the cartons on the table with a huff. “That was a real jerk move of the boys to make excuses to bail on their commitment, and I didn’t appreciate Kim using our swim sessions as a part of their excuse.” She turned to the others with a smile. “I do appreciate the invite though.”
Felix held up his hand. “Well, if this counts as an additional person for a party with limited room, it would be remiss of me to not give my place to someone more deserving—”
Cesaire grabbed his sleeve to keep him from his less than casual move for the door. Thankfully not his arm or they would likely have had a problem. “Oh come on, Felix!” She said, her grin a bit too wide to be innocent. “There’s no need for that!”
“I beg to differ. You just have fun and—”
The door closed behind him. The slam as clear as his own death knell.
“We insist.” Cesaire stated, her words clearly a warning.
Felix sighed and reluctantly moved to place his bags in the side room designated for the boys. When he returned, he found the girls in a discussion over horror movies or video games. With little option and wanting to open himself up to as little drama as possible, he chose to sit next to Agreste and Merot on the couch. His only allies for this mess of a night.
“This is going to be fun!”
“I know, right?”
…
…
…
…it seemed his allies had already fallen.
Felix was on his own.
___________________
The sleepover started simply enough.
Pizza was ordered. Soda was poured. Popcorn was popped and promptly somehow simultaneously fought over and used as ammo. Candy was shared.
They started with some Mecha Strike which all of them played—except for Dupain-Cheng, who was apparently banned due to her “mad skillz”. They played in teams that eventually came out with Lavillant and Felix as the winners—which he wasn’t at all smug about no matter Cesiare’s claim.
Then the girls insisted on a dance game. Felix, understandably, chose to sit out. To his surprise, Dupain-Cheng chose to sit out with him as well.
Or maybe it wasn’t that much of a surprise, given her natural clumsiness. No doubt it would be exacerbated due to the presence of her crush.
Still, that she chose to keep him company in his “dark and dreary” corner of the room (Cesaire’s words, not his) was…kind.
“Enjoying yourself?” She asked, polite and considerate and everything he absolutely did not need right now.
He looked away, irritated. Seeing his expression, she frowned and sat next to him.
“I’m sorry you were dragged into this.” She said quietly. “I know this isn’t your idea of a good time.”
She wasn’t wrong. Felix’s idea of a good time was probably the exact opposite of the current situation. Somewhere quiet and alone. Likely his room with a book and some tea.
It was nice that someone at least recognized that. Not that it made a difference.
“I don’t blame you.” He assured her, insomuch that at least it wasn’t her he blamed. She could probably tell that much from the glare he sent towards Cesaire at her place on the couch and cheering on Agreste and Merot’s tag team in the dance game.
Oh yes, HER, he did blame.
As if feeling his glare on her, she turned to look at him and wagged her eyebrows in his direction.
He resisted the urge to make a profane gesture.
“Honestly, I think they’re just trying to stick it to the other boys for ditching us to throw a party where we’re specifically not invited.” Dupain-Cheng explained.
It wasn’t necessary for her to try to explain it away. Maybe she could convince someone who didn’t know better, but Felix knew full well that this was more than vengeance against the rest of their male classmates. Cesaire was taking full advantage of the opportunity to vex him as well.
But he would be magnanimous and refrain from pointing that out because she sounded a bit miffed about the whole prior incident and he wasn’t about to try and deny her her right to her fury over the matter.
Dupain-Cheng continued, smiling at him. “Since you at least stuck to your word and told us the truth about what was going on, this is kind of a reward.”
“But for whom? Because from my perspective, this is simply a punishment all around.” He bit out.
Marinette smiled. “But Nino and the guys won’t see it that way.”
Ah, yes. The adolescent male mind would no doubt see entry into this event as a privilege and something to envy.
That’s because they didn’t know better.
No doubt they simply thought of it as scantily clad girls sleeping together or whatever else their hormone-driven brains could imagine.
The truth was that it would be more embarrassing and aggravating than anything. Humiliating. Potentially traumatizing. And may very well end in death—most likely his own.
Felix wondered if letting the other males keep that foolish image would make this night worth it.
…it wouldn’t. He knew it wouldn’t. But he would still keep quiet about it because he blamed them almost as much as he blamed Cesaire since they started this mess in the first place.
And Felix deserved something today.
In his ruminations, Dupain-Cheng had left him to his thoughts, though only for a short time. A little while later, she had returned with some hot herbal tea.
It didn’t make him feel better about what this night would bring.
But it helped.
___________________
It wasn’t long before the group had gotten worn out from the more active video games and had turned to less active and more personal time.
The girls had sat in a circle, back to front. For…simultaneous hair-styling, apparently. They had a number of hairbands, clips, head pieces, and decorations with which to adorn each other while they talked and gossiped. Agreste and Merot excitedly joined them in the circle as well.
“Felix! You should join!” Agreste invited.
“Yeah,” Cesaire said with what could only be an evil smirk. “There’s a spot for your right here!” She patted the space in front of her.
Felix gave her a dry glare. “You’re not subtle, Cesaire. I know better than to trust you anywhere near my hair.”
She pouted but turned to Dupain-Cheng instead.
Felix watched in some limited amusement at the mixture of decent styles and outright monstrosities that were born of the styling circle. Agreste ended up with his hair covered in pink clips by an overly enthusiastic Lavillant. Merot ended up with wild streaks from Kubdel and…wow, he was glad he didn’t join. He hadn’t thought they’d bring hair dye.
Cesaire, much to his vindication, ended up with her hair looking somewhat akin to a hydra after Merot separated her hair into a number of separate mismatched asymmetrical ponytails and then used hair spray to keep them in place. Whatever hairstyle the boy had been going for had failed atrociously, but they seemed to get a good laugh out of it…and only convinced Felix all the more that he was right to avoid it altogether.
If only he would be able to avoid the next activity.
Because then came THE game. The one Felix knew was coming. The one he dreaded.
“Truth or Dare~!”
Was it too late to jump out the window?
He glanced over, seriously considering it. They were only a few floors off the ground. Just 10 or 12. It wasn’t that much, right? He could make it.
Or he would fall into the sweet, sweet embrace of death and never have to experience another night like this.
Unfortunately, Kubdel and Lavillant blocked the path to the window—likely the former knowing more of his plan than the latter, who just smiled at him innocently and asked if he wanted to sit next to her for the game.
“Of course he would!”
Before he could even speak, Cesaire had reached an arm around his shoulders and “guided” him to the circle where everyone was now facing the center and preparing to play.
“I can escape.” He hissed to her. “Don’t think I wouldn’t.”
“Oh sure, you could.” She whispered back in agreement. Then she smirked. “And what a shame that would be. Marinette would be disappointed. I guess this would leave me with no choice but to distract her from your absence and use this opportunity to continue Operation Adrinette and all of us would be free to ask Adrien so many questions about who he likes.”
Something about that struck him as more distasteful than remaining at the party and taking part in the game.
And given the way she was looking at him, Cesaire knew it, too.
“Plus you’ll have to go home sooner or later.” She added with a smirk. “And your mother is going to want all the details of her son’s ‘first sleepover’. Imagine her disappointment if she finds out you ditched us?”
…vile girl.
“Fine.” He hissed, moving to join the ‘Circle of Friendship’.
Most of the group seem elated as he sat among them. Kubdel was snickering. Lavillant looked on the verge of squealing. Agreste and Merot smiled at him with their ignorant, oblivious, innocent eyes.
Dupain-Cheng looked nervous. Understandable, given the nature of the game they were about to play and her history of embarrassment at the hands of her so-called ‘friends’. Something that a game like this would only open her up for in spades.
If nothing else, he supposed he could at least try to help spare her the death of embarrassment. If only to spare himself the same.
The first rounds were simple, silly things.
“What was your worst akuma?”
“I dare you to impersonate Hawk Moth!”
“Try to pun like Chat Noir!”
At least Cesaire was keeping to her word with him there, as she had yet to try any of her silly matchmaking shenanigans. And the other girls seemed to be following her lead, as none of them did anything of the sort either.
Then of course, came the inevitable…
“Felix! Truth or Dare?” Lavillant asked cheerfully.
He immediately felt his back straighten.
She was cheerful. And out of all the classmates, the girl was the most kind—seemingly. But also the most naive and impressionable. Cesaire could have put her up to something.
But she wouldn’t willingly make him do anything she knew would hurt him, right?
He felt a grin from the side and resolutely chose to not look at Cesaire.
“Dare.” He said. Against all better judgement.
“I dare you…” Lavillant said, drawing it out as she seemed to be trying to think of something.
“To style Juleka’s hair!”
He blinked.
“Come again?”
“You didn’t get to take part in the hairstyle circle so it’s only fair!” She insisted.
“Yeah!”
“Style something for us, Felix!”
“Use your modeling skills!”
…well, that wasn’t so bad, at least.
“Fine.” He agreed, rolling up his sleeves. All the better to get this over with quickly. And with as little fuss as possible.
“You okay with this, Felix?” Dupain-Cheng asked. At least she was kind enough to have some concern for his comfort. He wasn't fond of touching people, after all.
He shrugged.
“It could be worse. They could have me shirtless and serving them drinks.”
A pause.
A long pause.
“Can I change my dare?”
“No.” He replied immediately.

Hi Lemon! It's always a pleasure to read your thoughts on hotd so I just want to share mine and ask for your opinion :)
First of all, I completely agree with one of the recent anons about helaemond and how it would have made the story better and more logical, the characters involved more engaging and human and ofc, the motivations more clear. And yes, it's ridiculous how my fellow greenies have been screeching about it making the greens look bad and hypocritical when in reality it would have only endeared them more to the GA (if done right, of course). Aemond would have been a multi layered character, Helaena would have had more relevance and Aegon and Aemond's fallout would have been more convincing. Oh well, a missed opportunity, unfortunately. But the greens are the ones who were damaged.
Second of all, Helaena is such a mystery to me and not in a good way. She has the same gift as Daenys the dreamer and yet she won't do anything with it? Why? To make her a constantly doomed and tragic figure who can't avoid her destiny? Because that's not the best explanation and just seems lazy. She is completely detached from the narrative. I thought at first that she couldn't interpret her dreams and visions, but after the balcony scene with Aemond it's obvious she can. Also, the way she apathetically talked to Aemond abut him dying and (sort of ) no one caring rubbed me the wrong way and I actually felt bad for him in that scene, not her, even though it obviously wasn't the writers' intention (and I agree with you, %his request wasn't unreasonable at all).
Finally, them using Helaena in Daemon's vision made my blood boil. Apparently, she can be Bran like toward her own brother because he "deserves" it, but it's OK to use her to "light the way" for Daemon in his "redemption" arc. It's unbelievable and straight up offensive . What is actually the point of her character and her ability then? Anyway, I would love to read your thoughts on this. Thanks.
first of all, anon, hello & thank you & i hope you enjoy your stay on my blog! 💚
PREFACING this by saying that the full helaena-aemond scenes might offer a bit more context than we already have, but, basically, here are my takes, as of now, the friday before the season finale. subject to change!
i guess my thesis statement is that this whole season kind of destroys helaena's character, as well.
let's look at her relationship with aegon:
from what i understand, she says she was "happy" before the war. a helaegon win perhaps? if she was "happy", then she must have been content enough with her position as aegon's wife, no? that doesn't seem like a huge logical leap to make. so, whatever aegon did or didn't do, it must just not have bothered her that much to impinge on her "happiness", even if perhaps she wouldn't necessarily rate him very highly as a husband either.
but, then again, she never mentions him. he just suffered a traumatic injury and is in constant pain. helaena is not besieged by grief this season, she is not catatonic with her own trauma, she is very lucid and calm and acting normally, yet she doesn't once ask about him or visit him or offer SOME kind of condolences or feel any kind of way about him being a cripple. he is still her brother, though? and apparently she has no particular beef with him? she shares a daughter with him, yet never even considers how it will be difficult for jaehaera to see her father like that. she just doesn't give a shit. and, i have to say, this makes her look rather sociopathic.
now let's look at her relationship with aemond. she is apparently so dismissive and gives zero fucks about the concept of aemond's death. like with aegon, there is a version in which helaena could have real grievances with aemond that could lead her to act like this. does she, though?
she doesn't give a shit that aemond burned aegon
she doesn't give a shit that aemond instigated the blacks into assassinating her son
she doesn't give a shit that aemond dismissed alicent from the council
what other reason could there possibly be? does she disagree with his war strategy? does she care that he burned a village? is she a secret rhaenyra stan? did he step on her favourite cockroach when they were kids and now it's payback time?
so, to be so indifferent and apathetic and downright heartless towards her brothers for no reason, again, paints her like a sociopath. what does she even care about? just her bugs? what in the seven hells? i'm not even sure that was the writers' intention anyway, they just truly have no idea what to do with her character. she is there so her interlocutor might exhibit some of their own character traits, but it's like talking to an android.
there are also ways in which one could show helaena's reluctance regarding flying dreamfyre to war, not just "lol i don't want to be bothered" when her family's lives are at stake. at the very least show her terrified of dying or squeamish about violence or something.
and her assisting daemon's redemption arc is downright nauseating. she gives zero fucks about her brothers, but DAEMON is the one she elects to help??
from a watsonian POV, she is not likeable or understandable at all, they are basically turning her into a selfish coward infantilising herself and not bothering to take the slightest initiative to change or influence the things she disagrees with, who just wants to sit on her arse all day waiting to die. but can she truly be analysed through a watsonian POV? was this the intention of the writers? (death of the author and all - what other in-universe characterisation could you give her based on her inaction on all fronts?)
like with alicent, i, for one, cannot apply watsonian analysis to helaena, because that's not how a human person would believably act in those situations. that's not how neuro-divergent people act! they cannot keep using this as an excuse. i don't want to hear the "everyone grieves in different ways" pretext. controversial opinion, but it's downright offensive to neuro-divergent people to claim they are so soulless and don't care about anything other than their hyper-fixations and would not blink if their family were in mortal danger or lift a finger to help in any kind of way
#ask#anon#helaena stans don't come for me this is just how they are writing her. book!helaena would never#hotd s2#hotd critical [characterisation]#hotd leaks#house of the dragon leaks#hotd spoilers#house of the dragon spoilers
