Merlin in emerald green is underrated. Everyone always draws him in strictly blue and red, which don’t get me wrong, are definitely his colors. But imagine those gold eyes, against a dark green velvet. Imagine the stark black hair against a soft green grass. Imagine the pale skin and blue eyes in the deepest and richest color the earth can be. Imagine.. just imagine.

This morning I woke up thinking about how Tommy checked in with Buck after he kissed him. The ‘was this ok’ is just so tender and uncertain. The underlying worry that he might’ve gone too far. It’s just so…

Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.
For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)
The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.
The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.
And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.
That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.
Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.

Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courier’s part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it could’ve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they don’t). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.
It’s so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it could’ve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.
#like yeah the courier delivered the package but in the end that’s a job#any random courier could’ve delivered it especially since we know in the past the factions were farther apart and this travel was a smidge#safer but courier six got it and this Ulysses blamed them#like I don’t care much for Ulysses because I think lonesome road embodies don’t shoot the messenger at it core#and what people focus on doesn’t focus on the fact that in the bigger picture#everything went wrong because two factions were at war and at some point the codes would have been delivered#and the divide destroyed cause with how close it is to NCR territory it would of been found#like there is an inevitable and too many people treat Ulysses as if he knows more or is more aware of the idiosyncrasies of conflict#when he’s like fundamentally flawed just at the standard of being a legion apologist STILL and just how focused he is on one persons#involvement cause yeah choices matter even the small one but I think Veronica’s quest says it best with a line from the courier#you can’t control what they do#like the courier couldn’t and can’t control what they deliver and yet it’s got them in hot water multiple times#like do you think they enjoy being shot or knowing they are indirectly responsible for activating the annihilation of a community#to me it’s hypocrisy to be willing to end the world or one world to prove a point and whatever argument made that only military factions#suffer forget there are innocent civilians suffering that had no part and Ulysses is no better than the Courier#I don’t like devils advocate and a lot of the dlc just feels like that but idk I know people love it but the depth is just not there for mr#ulysses fnv#fallout#fallout new vegas#courier six#the courier#lonesome road#the courier has very little personality outside what we give them but some lines and delivery paint a picture#like uhhhh undertale deltarune rules ig

The thing that drives me crazy about Henry Crawford is that he almost made it. He almost changed. A bit more restraint, a little more core morality, and his life could’ve been so different. Everything could’ve been so different.

i was thinking about how merlin is actually one of the most inconsistent shows i’ve ever seen
like, genuinely— starting from gwen liking merlin (and then suddenly not), merlin liking morgana (it was kinda implied???), and morgana liking arthur and arthur reciprocating (……..i have no words)
and the inconsistencies just??? continue??? like how morgana and arthur “liked” (shiver me timbers) each other, but in s3 it’s revealed she’s his half sibling (and they don’t ever bother to talk about their dynamic in s1)
i genuinely dont think they planned to make them siblings at first🧍🏽‍♀️if they did then… weird behavior esp bc it literally added Nothing to the plot
or what about how hunith was never brought up in season 5??? shes genuinely such an important character
or even ygraine! we deserved to know more about her, as well as arthur. WE SHOULDVE SEEN TINTAGEL.
basically, all im saying is that the show has like way too many inconsistencies, whether it’s characterization, the script etc etc and i was wondering why that was the case
aside from the fact that the exec producers probs didn’t care enough for the plot and bbc sucks, i realized that it’s because merlin should not have only been 5 seasons😭
ik the fandom talks about a s6 but i mean that from the beginning, merlin should never have ended in season 5. if anything, i think it should’ve been 8 seasons MINIMUM
like there is??? so??? much??? to work with in the legends??? and five seasons with 13 episodes each is not enough to cover all of the plots and characters that the show focused on
instead of rushing merlin and freya’s relationship into one episode, it could’ve been gradual so the audience had more time to get attached to them
we could’ve seen merlin in ealdor more
WE COULDVE HAD TINTAGEL
we would know more about ygraine and see arthur connect to her even when she’s in the afterlife
we could know more about gwen and elyan and their family😭 and their dad not having to die so early. also not making elyan come in halfway through the show without mentioning him at all
i really think the show would’ve been better of if it was at least eight seasons. theres just so much to unpack and so many different relationships to explore. plus they still try to base some things on the legend so they could even work with that😭
anyways yea this is my truth ty for listening to my ted talk!
