Stippling!

Started with a mid-toned purple base and shifted both the hue (color) and tint/shade (light/dark) to create the illusion of reflected light, and I just kept layering until I liked the look. Using a textured brush helps sell the glittery look and keeping it more loose and a bit messy adds to that chunky nail polish feel. Up close you can see the individual points.

hi! hope you're doing well! so i've been learning how to draw with pen and paper (self taught i just follow a lot of youtube videos). i got an ipad for school and now i want to try drawing digital. what would you consider to be a beginner friendly app? i don't want to start off with procreate cause like i said i am a beginner and i don't want to start off with a paid app esp since there's a chance i won't be consistent with it due to school.

I’ll be completely honest I personally haven’t tried out many iPad drawing apps outside of procreate which is what I currently use. I used the app Sketchbook while I was in school for equal parts notes and doodles and it’s not bad! For a free program I downloaded for the purpose of not having to lug around a dozen notepads with me I was truly pleasantly surprised by the easy interface and workflow it allowed. Worth looking into.

Medibang is one a friend of mine used all the time in high school and for a free app it’s not that bad. It does have banner and full screen ads while loading canvases and doesn’t handle larger files well but all in all not a bad place to start.

From what I’ve also gathered from friends is Ibs Paint is like a step up from medibang, the ads are less intrusive from but also has a canvas size limit so not ideal for larger projects and the like.
