i'm kind of fascinated by a genre of writing prompt posts out there where it's like, "imagine a story with this premise that would normally be a problem, but because of X, it's actually fine!"

like okay but... stories are conflict. do you understand that? the problems cause the story. solving problems is the story.

like "a dragon kidnaps a damsel in distress, and everyone goes out looking for find her, but when they do it turns out that the dragon and princess are in cahoots to keep her from having to get married." I'm very happy for the princess and her dragon but do u realize that this is a punchline and not a prompt??

It is only Tuesday, and we have already had a tough week in the shop. We have made some beautiful pieces, but we have also had some dragons slay themselves.

Three separate times we have had things blow out! It's so hard because by the time pieces hit this point in the shop, we have so much time and money invested. But, it's part of life. Not everything is a winner. Some days you chase things that are not meant to be. Sometimes you can patch things together, other times you cut your losses and march forward. Maybe things are more beautiful because there is also struggle.

So we put one foot in front of the other, and move ahead.

Whatever struggles you face, we are rooting for you. Carry on, warriors.

in the end i’m not really sure what the moral was supposed to be in that episode. “even when you’re old your life will still have meaning & value” seems like the obvious one for the character of the week to learn but that message kinda didn’t seem to be present at all. ranru tells her she isn’t worthless bc she’s a star? what about people who aren’t stars? are they worthless when they’re old? like... whatever. i guess the moral is that ranru is cool. i already knew that but sure
