DC supervillain of the week who traps the justice league(in their league disguises) in a reality tv show like love island. it airs on tv and everything like they use supervillain powers to forcefully broadcast "love island: justice league edition" while the supers have to try and figure out how to escape. during a personal squabble wondy steps up and says "everyone calm down, we're all a team, we each have our strengths and weaknesses, we need to work together to solve this" and then it cuts to her talking head segment and she says "im not a fan of green lantern."

I was re reading a bit and looking back camp half blood DEFINITELY has some sort of hazing going on.

Cause you look at characters like Percy and Piper and start to wonder.

Like, a LOT of people forget, but Percy was NOT well liked when he got to camp. He was the newbie, unclaimed, AND he was getting attention because he killed the Minotaur. Clarisse wasn’t the only one out to get him. It took Percy until the third book to get the reputation that he as with the campers because they didn’t like him.

He was mocked for everything, for being a new kid, for not knowing anything, for killing the Minotaur, for being a child of the big three.

And you have to realize that outside of the big three thing, they were ALL in his shoes before. So it’s almost nonsensical for them to give him a hard time. Unless it’s a type of hazing.

This behavior is never brought up again but it’s actually one of the reasons Percy likes Luke so much in the first book. Outside of Chiron and Grover, Luke was the only one being nice to him.

Because he was being HAZED.

And it would’ve been a one time thing but I think each Cabin has there own niche of hazing because you then get Piper and get a look into the Aphrodite cabin.

Firstly, you have to break someone’s heart in order to be accepted, weird. You have to do everything Drew says or else your on cleaning duty or want to wake up in the middle of the lake or smth. And your start at the bottom of the pack before working your way up by becoming one of Drew’s minions. It’s like every stereotypical sorority film.

There’s also the fact that it’s mandatory that you get robbed when you first stay in the Hermes cabin, need to get glory in order to STOP being bullied, and kiss a boar when you first get to camp (deleted chapter)

Like throughout the series, I think the only people we don’t see go through this are the Zeus kids (privilege), Annabeth (seasoned camper) and Leo (nice siblings).

And like Nico kept leaving because he thought no one liked him because he was a Hades kid. So imagine if, no, it wasn’t being he was a Hades kid, he was just getting the mandatory hazing. Like he thought everyone hated him but they were just fucking with him the whole time.

But yeah, CHB definitely hazes people.

the criticism imo comes from how 'girl' phrases reinforce patriarchal views of gender. terms like 'girl math' and 'girl dinner' are appending girl as shorthand for 'i don't know better due to my youth and gender' similar to how 'boys with be boys' uses boys. and all these phrases really translate to 'my actions are in line with societal expectations of my gender'.

Yes and I get that. I can completely get behind being against the “girl dinner” “girl math” trend. But I feel like a lot of criticism about girlhood has gone beyond that, to the point where it’s automatically assumed that girlhood holds negative connotations.

When people refer to Luigi Mangione as a boy and a kid, they don’t do it from a place of “he’s just a boy.” They do it from a place of “he’s a rising star in the tech industry, but let’s not forget that he’s just a kid so he’s free to make mistakes too.” Everyone is literally obsessed w him rn so I really don’t think what’s happening is anything beyond people allowing a man to be young well into his late 20s and 30s.

There will always be other scenarios where girl/boy hold negative connotations, and I respect that and think it’s a worthy conversation. But there’s no denying that no one would be calling a 26 year old woman a kid who’s also a rising star in tech like they would not be embracing her youth in this manner and I think that’s a worthy conversation too

Actually what I love most about hualian is that by the time of "if you don't know what to live for then live for me" they had already had many meetings and moments together, and while that one moment may have solidified his resolve and his purpose, it may have never actually come to that point had xie lian not caught him from the wall, had he not saved him from qi rong, had he not told qi rong off and punished him, had he not stood up for him every time someone spoke against him, had he not held him so warmly, had he not talked to him so gently, had not reassured him so genuinely, had he not protected him time and time again, yknow? Ever since they met they kept meeting by chance and it might have even felt like Xie Lian was looking out for him specifically, even if it was just a coincidence and he would have done it for anyone else. Hong-er is crazy enough to do whatever he wants on a whim, but this wasn't like a split second decision Xie Lian was already like a lifeline to him at this point, and he took his chance and asked his question to a statue in a shrine he may have never cared about had they never met. He may not have really expected an answer and was just asking with a last desperate hope to find any reason to keep going on, but he got an answer from that one and only person in the world who he would ever trust. That trust was built stronger every single time they met and it all led up to that point. If hong-er had asked that question without the pretext of their previous meetings, would he still devote his life? Maybe, but it's not easy to say yes definitely. If it had been anyone else, would they also devote their life? That's also entirely possible, but it wasn't anybody else. It's three parts fate and seven parts courage, and again, Hong-er is crazy enough to do whatever he wants on a whim, so he chose life with the rest of his courage. In short, when we say their story is so specific to them, I really do believe that it could quite literally only happen to them specifically and no one else given their situation. If Xie Lian didn't have such a strong sense of justice and love of all people, if hong-er wasn't so desperate, reactive, or strong-willed, if either of them weren't just so damn stubborn, I honestly think none of these events could play out the same way and/or be as impactful on them. It really couldn't have been just any crown prince and any beggar kid, it could really have only been them.

Alfred - Bruce → age gap: 22-23 years

Bruce - Dick → age gap: 18 years

Dick - Cass → age gap: 6 years

Cass - Jason → age gap: 6-7 months (or a year if we substract Jason 6 dead months)

Jason - Tim → age gap: 2 years

Tim - Duke → age gap: 2 years

Duke - Damian → age gap: 4-5 years

Characters I didn't mention but are technically part of the fam:

Barbara - Dick → age gap: 4-6 years

Steph - Tim → age gap: 1 year

(And I wanted to add Helena but I really have no idea when or at what age she joins the batfam.)
