(hi fletcher !!! so sorry for going absolutely insane on your post sfjshdjd i hope you don't mind. but this hit me so hard in the spones feels because "so what if i love you?" is such a defining aspect of their relationship in general (and why i love them together so much!!) compared to the "meant to be" nature of spirk.... like i dunno. just. the "fuck it, who cares if i have to learn to love you. i'm okay with trial and error. i'm okay with knowing that loving you changes me."... that is what endears spones to me so vehemently, because it's true!! to love is to be changed. to love is to make the effort to grow. the soulmate trope is such a huge part of how we as a society tend to view relationships, but spones is just.... such an incredible subversion of that. and for that it is so, so close to my heart 🥹)
