helena visiting the waterfall after experiencing pleasure that she thought she could make her own, but that never really belonged to her. staring at the site where her family taught her from a young age that pleasure for pleasure's sake was obscene. helly is every suppressed urge that helena never knew she had. and yet in that moment she had with mark she felt no shame, the shame was all on the other side. helena barely even being a mole, instead just using the safe cover of helly r.'s unpredictable disobedience to pretend she too could be reckless. but even then she can't find the courage to do what helly did on the severed floor, to take the chance for herself. it is mark who has to initiate (and he could only do so because he himself has transformed into something beyond what he was before). she thinks she can be loved without being known. but her bite is too sharp for it to last, her cold nature is too learned as a defence mechanism for her to ever let go of it. she's standing in the snow and the ice, looking at the waterfall with a smile before facing her own retribution.
