There's just something so visceral and important to me about Albus being terrified of Thestrals in the beginning but after Delphi and watching Craig die and gaining the ability to see Thestrals he not only learns to love them, but he has Olivander craft his new wand around a strand of Thestral hair, and his Patronus eventually takes the form of a Thestral.

I was tagged by @cleverblackcat this week to share something I'm working on. Thank you, my friend!

This is the hiddenline wireframe view of a simple scene I've been working on in the downtime between the six fanarts (still doing them and hoped to have another finished, but migraine took me out last night/this morning x.x). Hellendil loves thestrals, so I really wanted to render him with one. Maybe I'll do another later that isn't as similar to my Baerith and snowlion render, but Hellendil does go to it for comfort.

Headcanon time - James S. Potter and thestrals

In CC, Part I, Act I, Scene II, James teases Albus with the existence of thestrals. Now, this could be simply that – James teasing his younger brother. But what if James actually can see thestrals? What in Merlin’s wisdom teeth extraction has happened that this ~13 year old boy has witnessed death?!

I was then reminded that his father is Harry Potter, a high-ranking Auror, who likely has to make life-or-death decisions at his job, nevermind that his job in general is extremely dangerous.

….imagine it’s “bring your kids to work”-day and this is the day one of your co-workers dies on the job…
