Niche wishlist for RWBY vol10:
- Yang & da boys team WHALE pt.2 (Yang, Oscar, Ren, & Jaune)
- Nora with ombré pink dyed hair (homage to Ruby when Nora thought they all perished badly)
- Ruby’s Vacuo outfit going in the opposite direction of Summer Rose’s aesthetics
- Emerald and Oscar playing pranks on people (just them having the funniest/most tender dynamic constantly contrasted by cinder & mercury angst; I want trickster Oscar content don’t boo me I’m silly)
- Jaune designing and building HIS First (1st) weapon and laying Crocea Mors to rest
- Ren flinching at some point at the strength/potency of another character’s emotions
- Oscar being fucking haunted™️ and his reflection doing spooky things
->The sword of destruction being fucking haunted and haunting Oz/Oscar
- Salem in front of the rubble of beacon tower “How does it feel…”
- Summer Rose jumpscares (like the punderstorm waterfall) that tip into full psychological horror
- All things must die reprise feat. Elizabeth Hull

We all know the semi-canonical ‘all the Robins know to hide/duck inside of Batman’s cape, even as adults’ thing.
We also know that Danny ‘is LITERALLY a ghost’ Fenton sucks at remembering his own intangibility while ALSO forgetting to look ahead of him.
All I’m saying is, Danny Fenton (or Phantom, if you’d really like) would absolutely SLAM into Batman on accident while running on roof tops and Bruce ‘Brooding Instinct’ Wayne doesn’t even think twice about letting the kid hide and scanning around for danger before there’s a record scratch of ‘wait who tf is this?’ kicks in.

Hello there.
[Slides elegantly into the tags]
Do you ever think about Emotion?
Of course you do. How could you not. But do you ever think about this exchange specifically:
Tumblr media
“You’re not Adrien!”
Because Adrien is sweet, and forgiving, and kind. In fact, kindness is his defining quality — Marinette herself made sure of it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’ll never tell another boy I love him before I know everything about him! Whether he’s kind or not, thoughtful, what he does outside of school and with who… I’ll know everything.”
But.
Do you ever think about Adrien’s development in S4 and especially S5?
Overtime, he has grown resentful of a system that exploits him relentlessly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of the people he gave countless chances to, only to be let down over and over again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of the web of lies and half-truths he constantly finds himself tangled into. A web that is only growing bigger, stickier, and trickier to escape.
Tumblr media
And the Senticousins. Do you ever think about them?
Tumblr media
Do you ever think about how they are each other’s reflection, identical and opposites all at once?
Tumblr media
“When you bring a living being into this world, you have a responsibility towards them. Your duty is to protect them, love them, help them discover the true meaning of their existence. To deprive them of that… is monstruous.”
Tumblr media
“To have a child is to help them blossom, to grow, to find themselves and to be free!”
Do you ever think about their opposite character arcs in S5 — one learning mercy and trust, the other developing a rage so strong it could destroy the world?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you ever think that if Felix can now have this exchange with his mum, and mean it:
Tumblr media
“They’re all monsters!”
“Not all of them.”
Then there’s nothing stopping Adrien from saying this:
Tumblr media
“Look closer, Marinette. They’re the monsters.”

perhaps the biggest thing i ignore in aftg canon are the heights. and i don’t mean like neil/aaron/andrew cause they’re very short in my head. i mean like kevin/wymack/matt/jean. cause like as someone who has a very tall family and a dad who played d1 football i just cannot see someone who is 6’2 as tall. 6’4 is where i start considering someone tall. like in my head matt is 6’6, kevin is 6’4, wymack is 6’3, and jean is 6’5. wymack was 6’4 back in the day but he’s shrinking. and nothing anyone can do will convince me otherwise

alright i know lots of folks don’t love the chaos redesign and some folks are saying they look like meg which like i get, esp with the singular wing but to me? they look like Nyx. they look like they molded their new appearance in the image of their daughter, who they’ve recently reconnected with after aeons of separation. like they have not just emotionally become more the parent of Nyx, but physically mirrored this parenthood, this embodied connection, by choice
(this relationship which they’ve now lost, leaving them alone, again)
(until a certain princess of the dead arrives)

Speaking of that modern AU where Gideon is raised by Wake:
I think it would be hilarious if Gideon keeps getting annoyed because not only do random people keep saying Wake is hot but she keeps finding out that she slept with all kinds of people. Mostly I think it would be an on going joke in her friend group.
Gideon eventually complains to Harrow about it and goes ‘at least you don’t think my mom is hot’
Only for Harrow to stand there like, ‘griddle you are the spitting image of your mother. Of course I think she’s hot.’

*Distant sounds of clattering pans and country music*
It takes a while before this sort of thing doesn’t trigger a shift for Jax. Until then, it’s a guessing game of what might set it off.

i hope ruby gets a well-that’s-alright-then-style notdeath. on the one hand it will make haters mad because oh no not another companion with an impermanent end (and i like to see haters mad) on the other it would require creativity to depict this in a new way + i love all the implications i love the dark fairytale quality of these companion exits i love my un-undead schrodinger’s women
Tumblr media Tumblr media
with the way the legend of ruby sunday is titled… legends aren’t usually told about living people. legends are stories of the bygone past, of an age long since over, fictionalised and overgrown with folklore like barnacles sticking to an abandoned shell. there is such a thing as a living legend, but they’re exceedingly rare. the unmistakeable raven’s call in the 73 yards teaser, the trailer’s cut to fifteen crying alone after promising to cherry he’d protect her daughter… the foreshadowing is clear as day…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yet. there’s one massive HOWEVER. ruby appears in s15: millie’s been spotted on set filming it. which leads me to believe — the doctor isn’t one to take the time travel route and revisit companions that in his future are genuinely dead. that would hurt too much, it would cause unnecessary trauma and could break the timeline. that must mean ruby stays alive in some way. ish. she’s alive and a legend and a mystery. girl-ballad girl-song girl-paradox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here she is, fading out.
p.s.: thesis statement on moffatgirls from the tags i left on somebody else’s post about charley pollard.. well it belongs here since it’s basically the semiotic hurricane swirling around ruby at the moment :)

#on a personal level what interests me about these characters is precisely what gets them labeled as being subject to#misogynistic writing by pop-feminist video-essayists. as an autistic girl* (*ish) however; i find female characters that#aren’t quite ‘normal people’; women who represent an idea or concept or are a puzzle to be solved or a manic pixie dream girl to be#more and in a way far more interesting than a girl-next-door-type universally relatable protagonist#they make for more nuanced stories with more symbolism and more layers of interpretation usually. why should there be realism in a#fantastical narrative? similarly i like characters that are haunting the narrative or dead before it began (big locked tomb fan if you#didn’t know) and like. not to be tvtropes but the lost lenore archetype. dead woman who spurs the hero on to recklessness or revenge.#i identify with that dead girl. the laura palmers of the world. set the story in motion without#necessarily having agency. maybe it’s something to do with my#constant background radiation of passive suicidality. in a fun whimsical way :) i would never kill myself but i don’t want to be a real#person. i want to be objectified but not necessarily in a k*nky s*xual way (that too) in a princess in a tower way#the ultimate femme fantasy innit? there’s something about it. hashtag problematic hashtag conforming to gender roles#10000 tags be upon ye#ruby sunday#millie gibson#doctor who#dw#steven moffat#clara oswald#fifteen#fifteenth doctor#twelveclara#amy pond#charley pollard#river song#donna noble#ncuti gatwa#doctor who meta#jamie.txt#haunting

I recognise everyone’s various criticisms of s8 in terms of pacing, storylines, lack of character interactions etc and everyone is sooooo valid in their opinions but a very large part of me is also just like, this is happening bc it’s season 8 of a tv show and y’know. most shows stop being good after like season 4 or 5 lol

In these trying times when people assume we only want bottom Sam for a plethora of shallow reasons, none of which are true for me, I find solace here with someone who gets it. God bless.
sometimes there is a right and wrong way to interpret things. if you understand how power dynamics work in sam and dean’s relationship and see the blatant parallels between john & dean and dean & sam (the cycles) and also aknowledge the fact that dean is canonically straight and homophobic, then you know dean wouldn’t bottom and sam wouldn’t top in their relationship

Imagine putting your heart and soul into a project because you love the source material, but have to work around certain scenarios because they won’t really translate well to screen, which is fine because you’ve gotten help/blessings from the ORIGINATOR of said source material so you’re feeling really good about everything. Maybe you wish you could change somethings, but you’re proud of the story that you’ve told and how true it is to the HEART OF THE STORY…
Only to then read that some of the fans of said source material think the show is awful and (somehow??) worse than the bad movie adaptations that disregarded the heart of the material (the actually STORY), all because of a casino and either adding or dropping minor story beats.
Wow. Just wow.

Most recent stupid argument I’ve seen against “transandrophobia” is that transmascs’ experiences also line up with gnc cis women. Like no kidding!! They fucking do!! I’ve seen it widely acknowledged that transandrophobia doesn’t just affect transmasculine people but anyone perceived in a similar way (cis butch lesbians are the biggest example—transandrophobia and lesbophobia are deeply intertwined). It’s not just a word, it’s a framework. This criticism falls in line with the argument that transmascs are just trying to feel like their experiences are special and unique to them. But that’s literally one of the huge differences from popular conceptions of transmisogyny (tme/tma); transmasc folks I’ve seen are very willing to point out they’re not the only ones affected by transandrophobia even if it primarily targets them.

A few people in the tags on my Agatha romance plot line poll are voicing the same sorts of thoughts I had. I did not like her romance plot line because she had all these lines in the two previous books that, to me and many others, were implying her aromanticism. To have a chapter from her POV where she expresses feeling broken due to a suspected inability to feel that type of attraction only to later have this “resolved” by her finding the right person was extremely frustrating and disappointing.
Even beyond an aro reading of the character, it’s disappointing to see her coupled up at the end of the third book. So much of the first book was about subverting the expectations that come from these types of stories. One of these expectations seemed to me to be not just that the chosen one gets the perfect girl, but that all the characters are neatly coupled up by the end and have romance as a part of their story. In the first book not only is Agatha not with Simon, the chosen one, her supposed destiny, she’s not interested in coupling up and fulfilling that expectation placed on her by the world in which she lives and by the type of story she inhabits, at all. It feels like backtracking on her character growth to watch a romance play out for her in the third book.
