facts about my ocs part 1:
- Chiawase is Chiru and Saiko’s lil sister
- Chiru is second vilain’s crush (My bestie is going to die of laugh ig- but none cares-)
- Saiko ever wanted to kill someone only for someone (like a yandere would do... LOL XDDDD)
- Saiko had a immortal wolf (don’t ask how and why, i don’t even know why i decided that), named Okami...
- Chiawase is litteraly the most mature
- Saiko forgot all of her family after she locked herself with her siblings
- Tsuki actually never locked herself with Saiko, Chiru and Chiawase, they got seperated after an explosion, who made her searching them for 5 WHOLE FUCKING YEARS
- Saiko got somehow kidnapped by her own PC after started playing dangaronpa, who made her participate the game... (to the Trigger happy havoc, Goodbye despair, and Killing harmony, so the scenario change a bit//My AU), she got stuck for 3 whole fucking years, she knews how yo guide everyone to survive, even if not everyone is alive actually-
- Saiko was supposed to be dead since she is 12... (and a half) during the explosion.
- The second vilain was manipulated bybthe main vilain
- The second vilain (Hernos/Herna) is trans (Male to Female), for being respected by his family who thought "she" was a cisgender girl...
- Hernos loves being called Herna, because "her" supportive sister called her like that when she was a kid...
- Saiko and Chiru are autistic
- Saiko’s backstory was based on a alternative version of mine
- Saiko made new friend while she was stuck in her pc with danganronpa (Ibuki Mioda [two idiots met :0], Kazuichi Souda [Soda’s protectors, also the third idiot], Chihiro Fujisaki [Saiko clearly knew everything about that buddy], Kokichi Ouma [She knew that he will end up alone one day], Celestia Lundenberg [don’t ask how and why, i have the power of the winx])
- Chiru was abandonned because he was ugly
- Iniky somehow exists
- Saiko still remebers her bestfriend
- When they go out for the first time, the world was destroyed
- Saiko somehow managed to make appear all the danganronpa carather to the real world (the one who died are inclued) and then despair and hope had to team... (why, i don’t know !)

I had a shrink appointment today and while I could not see it I knew my doc was going through the five stages of grief while I explained my fool proof strategy for doing my t shots despite a crippling fear of needles: By abusing my vastly more crippling fear of being an inconvenience.
My mother and I play phasmophobia together every week. she usually has a pretty limited time to do this bc she's like. a doctor and a college professor whos always busy. So I asked her to just. hold me to doing them. We don't start playing until the shot is done. so my needle fear doesn't matter because now it's Wasting™ her time and I have to do it quick. Using one neurosis to defeat another.
It's a horrible coping mechanism because it's feeding the inconvenience fear, but it is definitionally a coping mechanism.
#im a 'has a panic attack during every injection or iv theyve ever gotten' type of scared of needles#no it genuinely has nothing to do with pain the needle itself is the fear not the using of it#like i told this story before but i have these sewing pins with lil bow ties on them and i had to get my dad to take all the blue ones out#because they were triggering the same part of my brain iv needles do#just the sight of them with the rest of my cute sewing pins was a problem#And the fear of being an inconvenience is so bad i cant eat around people or be in crowded spaces or talk at get togethers#without being paralyzed by fear of Being In The Way. its so bad ive been avoiding using my power chair bc it makes me take up#slightly more space than i would just standing. and i never took my manual out and about because i moved too slowly in it#and i dont take my crutches on planes despite using them everyday bc they cant fold up like my cane can and so are In The Way#one of the big reasons i dont use the chairs in stores is they have back up alarms. and i hate making noises in public#Yes this is part of the reason i want a Rottweiler for my service dog because i want people to look at the doggie Not Me.#I like people! i like being friendly and talking and making little connections with strangers!!! But i cant be the one to initiate or#be In The Way of a peaceful moment#dont look at me#this is also a big issue i have with making friends or changing the nature of a relationship because like. im autistic#I have Rules for social interactions memorized that i will follow. but moving people from one category to another#is difficult. It is too the point i had problems for litteral years talking to my boyfriend as though#he was a person i knew well and cared deeply for because i kept using the 'rando guy im flirting with on the Internet' script#I have commissioners i want to be friendlier with but my brain says No Stop that is an Impolite and Overly informal way to talk to#a customer™ despite them not being customers when they arnt in the commission process#im like thise huskies who are scared of carpet because its Different than the floor they're currently standing on#its Too different:(#and to be clear i am Completely aware of how none of this makes logical sense and is in fact deeply self destructive#That does not fix it. it is so ingrained in my head that im certain i could convince my brain to let me bite off my own fingers#before i could convince it to let me talk to someone at a help desk or ask my order be corrected at a restaurant

Jimithon Mouthwashing is such a good representation of untreated, enabled NPD like it makes me want to squeeze the life out of him. I'm endlessly fascinated when watching him interact with his crew, surroundings, and himself because he's so fucking lost in his own sauce. It's insane. If I'm being real, it makes him my favorite character in the game.
It's a little scary to say, but watching Jimmy is like seeing a mirrored version of myself two years ago before I truly committed to treatment for my NPD. He's like a shadow. The opening line "I hope this hurts," which I believe comes from Jimmy right before the crash, is such a poignant statement. It's a simple line, but I can tell you from experience that the desire to hurt others when in a narcissistic rage is overwhelming. It's such a good line to sum up Jimmy's character in that moment. Luckily, in the real world, I had my friends and family there to catch me when I hit my lowest, even though I'd hurt them so many times. Jimmy probably could've used friends to force him into therapy (cough cough Curly cough cough)
#also I don't mean we're similar in any way when it comes to rape or SA. Please don't twist it that way at all.#I mean like in terms of the jealously resentment revenge hurting others to feel thrilled not taking responsibility not seeing flaws etc#I'm diagnosed with NPD also but pls know my experience will be different from others. We're all different people obvs.#also Jimmy has like wayyyyyyyyyy more things wrong with him not just untreated NPD lol#I would say that untreated NPD is a hell most can't describe#you barely feel anything except rage boredom and jealousy (in my case)#love is a form of ownership and control because you can't really feel it the right way#so your -person- is an object of intense obsession and also a tool for you#if that makes sense? I see that with Jimmy and Curly for sure#You want to tear others down and hurt them because it makes you feel good to put them below you#there's a constant feeling of insecurity and it drives you crazy fr#kind gestures from friends feel insulting#and oh my god achievements made by friends and family in my case feel like I've been shot like I hate when they achieve things#It's not logical obvs but that's something I instantly noticed in Jimmy so i was like .....oh brother lol#and also if they achieve something my brain needs it to somehow be tied to me or I'll make it tied to me so they can be thankful#they should always center their attention on me and if they don't I immediately resent them#these are just some of my thought processes on the matter so I can show the similarities I feel with Jimmy#the KEY DIFFERENCE is all of these thoughts I have are left in my head and not exhibited in my actions (any more. took a long time)#but he is such a nasty human with ZERO introspection that he prob never even thought about treatment#also doesn't help that the hot blonde he's friends with never did anything to help with that#idk sorry for oversharing but ahhh this game is so well written I gotta yap about it lol#also kind of a funny unrelated story to show how weird the achievement thing can be lol#my friends announced they saved up enough to go to Vietnam (their dream trip) and I was happy for them (I really was)#but of course my delusional ass immediately also took it as a threat#and I booked a month long trip to Europe a few days after so I could also announce it LMAO#that is a kind of innocent incident when compared to Jimmy but it just shows how annoying NPD can be#Jimmy mouthwashing#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#NPD

Please tell me about art and media you know of that accurately captures the weirdness of dream logic and atmosphere and emotions... books and movies and video games and art and comics and YouTube stuff, whatever you want... you know, where it only makes sense on an intuitive level and falls apart when you try to explain it...
#im trying to think of examples#a great one is mullholland drive by david lynch#also actually some of david firth's (salad fingers guy's) sock series animations did that so well for me back in the day#like you know where something or someone or a place can be two things at the same time in the dream?#and how something weird and silly can have the strongest serious emotions attached to it#and how stories within stories happen#eternal sunshine of the spotless mind#was good w these vibes#silent hill 2 as well and sort of majora's mask#the book orlando#actually you know what i just rewatched a bunch of david firth's cartoons and Pulch: The Good Times is actually a better dreamlike one#than some of his dream series to me somehow#the way it has this wistful tragic nostalgic nonsense vibe that like you'd probably find deep and sad while having the dream#but upon waking it both makes no sense and seems stupid and funny instead if you were to try to explain it#also the nightmarish one about soup or wtv#when the little person gets all upset about her soup being stolen hahaha and then the creepy guy goes 'you forgot your hammer'#anywayssss#many of these things have stuck in my head since like 2007 or wtv idk theyre just fun#Sock 4: Sock Lops is good for the weird narrative jumping dream logic vibes#if you can stand to watch that much 2000s newgrounds edgy animation in this day and age...#p

A small question about your wonderful doppelganger au if you don't mind - why is Legato shorter than Legend now? Is it magic from Triforce Heroes or something else?
BTW I absolutely LOVED your last update, Legato being comforted by Hyrule and Warriors after dyeing his hair melted my heart🥹🥹🫶
Aw, thank you so much <33 To answer your question: he just shrunk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
...
XD Okay, but to be serious: I promise there is a reason. This is one of the points where Legato is an unreliable narrator. He does not want to think about the reason why, so he'll only mention it indirectly. Pay attention--there are clues if you want to try to figure it out before it's directly revealed :3
#it's fun to joke about it whenever folks ask me on ao3 but i figure i'll be upfront about it here#i love seeing people theorizing. like y'all are *smart*#nothing more satisfying than seeing you guys start to put together pieces of the story before it happens#means that i'm doing my job right and the story makes logical sense XD#LU Doppelgänger AU#starslog

There are a couple of lines in Psychonauts 2 that I think about quite a bit. I’m pretty sure these have already been done but if NOT, then. Uh. Spoilers for Psychonauts 2 I guess?
First off- one of Sam’s lines. There’s actually a lot about Sam that I think could have been put to better use—specifically a conversation about how psychic powers aren’t always controllable, giving parallels between Compton, Dogan, and Maligula and MAYBE Raz. But the line I SPECIFICALLY think about is a joke one.
“And if you use enough syrup, you can’t taste the difference between chicken and snake. Eggs is eggs!”
In Psychonauts, eggs are used as a metaphor for brains. Like, this isn’t some vague thing, it’s extremely front and center. Eggs and brains are directly linked. And, it should be noted, that Sam actually puts an entire nest—INCLUDING BIRD EGGS—in the, uh…. ‘Pancake mix’.
So, snakes and chickens and syrup, right? Chickens, generally used to describe someone who is cowardly or otherwise not the type to actually do anything, syrup being sweet enough to distract from other tastes, and snakes being, well, people who are not trustworthy.
And then there’s Nick Johnsmith, aka Gristol Malik, who is a well liked non psychic that Truman calls a lick spittle—someone who fawns over others easily. In other words, a snake (egg, brain) that acts sweet (and syrupy) enough to seem like a chicken (egg, brain).
Do you see. Do you SEE THE VISION HERE.
Anyways onto phrase 2. Said by Gristol Malik.
“He took a poor, sad, country girl and turned her into a mighty warrior. And I’m going to do it again.”
Now, usual context will say he means he’ll bring Maligula out of Lucy/Nona. I don’t think that’s incorrect, per se.
But one of the things that really, REALLY snapped Lucy/Maligula was the death of Marona, her sister.
And who do we have camping nearby? Why, it’s an entire family. In fact, it’s Raz’s entire family. And at LEAST half of them are psychics.
Gristol already views Raz as a puppet. He only kind of likes him because he’s half Grulovian. And, you know, during the Rhombus of Ruin, Loboto was no longer under Oleander’s employee, so… who wanted Raz’s brain removed? Someone who, oh I don’t know, might have heard about Raz being a powerful psychic that MIGHT have noticed Raz’s rather unique name… or, more specifically, the last name of a circus that performed for the Gzar and his family, famous for water acts. One that, by chance, someone could have known that a Galochio, a family of psychics, recently married into?
And you know, Maligula is older, it’s good to have back-ups, right? I mean, this is the same guy that ACTUALLY pulled one over on an entire spy group of mind readers.
But, hey, maybe it wasn’t a plan to turn Raz into Maligula by killing one or some or all of his family! Raz is kind of pissed right now, and might not snap the way Gristol would want him to. I’m pretty sure murdering, say, Mirtala, his baby sister, might not work in Gristol’s favor when Raz is already against him.
That said… he’s not the only psychic in the Aquato family. And in fact some of those family members aren’t the most on board with the whole… Psychics and Psychonauts business.
Specifically, we have a barely used plot thread including Frazie Aquato and her acceptance of her psychic powers!
I’m sure that, oh say, her little brother dying in the middle of him helping the Psychonauts pick up their messes, when he should have been able to be saved by one of his heroes since he was literally at their headquarters and surrounded by psychic adults, will only have good things happen to the Psychonauts. I’m SO sure that Frazie won’t get extremely pissed at these people her brother looked up to so much. She’ll definitely be understanding and absolutely won’t use what seems to be a family trait of extremely powerful psychic power along with the hydrokinesis in her bloodline. Specifically because she, an acrobat since birth and taught to ignore a lot of the usual fears most people have about safety and the instinct to flee, definitely has a great relationship with her fight or flight mode.
:))))
Anyways I have a lot of thoughts about Psychonauts 2 (I’m not saying I’d do a fix it of some things that bother me, but I do tend to do canon rewrites to smooth out wrinkles as a fun writing exercise/my version of hyperfixation on media and with the time gap between the games there is PLENTY of those in the plot, so uhhhhhhhh) but no one to bother them to, so uhhhhh yeah thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
#psychonauts#psychonauts 2#sam boole#razputin aquato#gristol malik#I have Many Thoughts on what I’d do to smooth between games specifically#or if I was to do my own adaption#I’m not saying the story is bad or anything! it has its flaws but it’s overall pretty good#there’d just a lot of things I’d personally move around#I think the biggest one would be Raz getting hazed#I Hated that scene#and I REALLY don’t like Norma#I’d probably adjust the adult psychonauts a little too#Hollis feels a bit strict against Raz when she seems so lenient to the other interns? idk how to describe it#like I’ve heard before. it made sense that the kids at whispering rock were a little mean but even then they weren’t really that against#Raz overall or anything#but in P2 so many characters just seem so MEAN to him#he just showed up! he literally did nothing but exactly what he was told to do. like. what else was he SUPPOSED to do for some of it?#I don’t even think it was THAT naive to believe that Truman was trusting him. Raz was the only one NOT in the psychonauts officially when#Truman was kidnapped. so like. logically he WAS the person who could be somewhat trusted as an outside source#oh but they thought he was the mole? how. LITERALLY how. even if his family had helped and it was a whole operation. H O W. THEY STILL#S T I L L. would have needed an inside man#ffs#anyways

Idk why everyone thinks Crosshair was the chaotic misbehaving brother as a cadet. Mr. “Good soldiers follow orders” even without the chip? Mr. “Loyal to the Empire” even after they destroyed all Kaminoan cities and facilities and didn’t care enough to come back and see if there were any survivors? Mr. “Not immediately swayed by emotional convictions” even when they belong to those closest to him who he should trust above unseen authorities?
Even if you think obedience and compliance was hammered into him by those in charge and he had to learn to keep his head down or face the consequences, that doesn’t explain why it takes him so long to eventually accept the truth, despite the mounting empirical evidence he receives after the most dire possible circumstances that should show him that those in charge are wrong. It isn’t until Mayday’s death that Crosshair finally accepts the truth because it’s then that he’s being directly told by the people in charge that he and everyone like him is expendable and unnecessary.
Somebody with a rebellious youth is much more critical of authority figures even if they’re presently obeying them, and they’re much more ready to drop said authorities the second it’s a viable option and they physically can. Crosshair doesn’t behave like a dog that’s been beaten its whole life, he’s constantly making active decisions not only to follow the Empire but to enforce what the Empire dictates, even when he’s the one reaping the direct consequences of pushback on the ground for it. Because that’s what good soldiers do.
This guy was the kid following the rules by choice and getting mad at the others for finding loopholes or accomplishing things the ‘wrong’ way, especially if and when it got all of them in trouble (because they were kids and wouldn’t have always been right). Rules and structure are there for a reason. We’ve been here less than ten years, what on earth makes you think we know more than the people in charge? Why do I have to be punished because you guys couldn’t do as you were told?
To me the four of them (and Echo later) are a sliding scale when it comes to decision-making based on head vs heart. Crosshair and Tech are on one side, using logic and reason over emotion as their basis for decision-making and how they see the world, and Echo and Wrecker are more on the heart/instinct side of reasoning, putting people and ideals ahead of simply accomplishing objectives despite what the odds might be against them. Hunter’s the balance in the middle, being able to see both sides and weigh what the best option is based on the evidence and the context within which it’s being given. All of them have different fluctuating percentages of what’s going to motivate or drive them day by day, just based on the context of their circumstances, but that’s the general scale.
I think Hunter as a kid probably realized if he could get all of them to learn the rules as quickly as they could, then they’d know how to break them effectively with the least amount of repercussions and collateral damage. They were an experimental group for a reason and were likely given a modicum of wiggle room when it came to problem-solving, the Kaminoans not just allowing but pushing them to be more creative, flexible, and adaptable. They all know the hard rules of structure, chain of command, and behavioral compliance, but after that they’re given more freedom of choice. Their personal convictions inform both the why and how of following orders.
Wrecker is easier to figure out because he wears every thought and emotion on his sleeve and sees no reason not to. He’s more of a follower— Thinking is for other people, he’s a busy guy and man of action, give him something concrete with actionable directions and he’ll accomplish it with aplomb.
Tech, as a kid, likely knew both the spirit and letter of the law, which means he could see problems and solutions objectively regardless of his personal feelings/opinions and knew that rules are there to be guidelines: No structure is perfect and always following rules exactly was never going to always be the right decision. He would choose whichever seemed like the most logical, obvious route to success, finding loopholes and workarounds where he could as a means of balancing the consequences or fallout of said decision.
Hunter also knew both the spirit and letter of the law, but he was able to read situations and people better than Tech was, relying more on his gut instinct to tell him what the best course of action would be, even if that choice wasn’t the most logical. He’s a mediator and the best choice of leader because of his ability to get people working together by knowing how to convince each of them in their own way that this plan will accomplish their objective AND lead to the most amount of people being satisfied/happy in the end, them included. Despite the fact Hunter’s more reserved, he’s still a people person. It just happens to come from empathy, observation, and instinct, the latter two being qualities he was designed to specialize in.
Crosshair obeyed the letter of the law because structure exists for a reason and if that structure has yielded the best results and most success for the longest amount of time, then it’s obvious it must be the right one in place. Loopholes can be taken advantage of, but only when there isn’t an explicit wording against it or there is clear and mounting evidence that the rule doesn’t apply to him. To deviate from the majority in matters of how something is achieved is acceptable; to do so in matters of why is not.
#The Bad Batch#character analysis#Crosshair#Sergeant Hunter#Tech#Wrecker#Source: I WAS the kid who both pushed boundaries and tested the rules#But would follow them when they were the obvious right choice and/or I was given clear evidence for the reason the rule was there#But was ALSO the one getting into trouble for whatever arbitrary reason the authority figures in charge decided that day#because THEY weren’t in control of their emotions and were acting illogically and there was nothing I could do about it#Life is wonderful and complex#<- she says dryly#I’ve seen every side of things. trust me.#Omega in the beginning is almost pure heart but that’s because she’s a kid and lacks the life experience and teaching that will help inform#her developing sense of logic#But it’s why it’s good she has that exact range of people to learn from#Sidebar but I think this is all probably why Crosshair and Tech probably excelled at/enjoyed math#Math is a reliable constant#(Tho considering this is a galaxy far far away. I bet there were times that it wasn’t because space and ~the force~ are weird lol)#long post#Idk why but when I do character analysis I almost always start with asking ‘‘What were these people like as kids?’’ first#Which I think is why I like writing for characters who are siblings#Gives me something to go off of#Other family members are helpful depending on how relevant/canonical they are to the story but I can write for siblings with my eyes closed#hounds speaks

You know one of the weirdest things about the Toxic side of fandoms I've seen? It's the way they try to treat all shows like they're supposed to be setting examples for the audience.
Take Hazbin Hotel for example. I have seen so many people pulling up a single bad trait that Chaggie or Huskerdust may or may not have and use that as the sole reason why they shouldn't be together at all. Which is so dumb but also bizarre because real life couples have their own good and bad qualities and having one possibly negative aspect about your relationship is more often not a reason you should immediately break up.
But sometimes fans and trolls act like these characters need to be in Disney-style-picture-perfect romance otherwise they're unhealthy and shouldn't be together. Like they seem to be under this really strange idea that all entertainment should be educational for the audience and if they're not setting a good example then it's bad TV.
It's so weird.
#Hazbin Hotel#Chaggie#Huskerdust#Like I've seen so many people#saying Angel is a bad character#because he sexually harrassed Husk.#As if that isn't part of his development and flaws#which is what makes him such a good character imo.#Or people will complain the villains have good traits#as if they're supposed to be one dimensional#when that is exactly what makes a bad character.#I dunno#I think some people never outgrew their childhood story logic#and now the deeper & more complex stuff makes them angry.#Maybe it's just me.#I don't know if any of this made sense#it's just been on my mind for a while and I needed to vent.

there's this kind of youtuber i lowkey really hate who aren't overt bigots or anything but just do this thing where they seem to try stupidly hard to look for reasons to hate media that just so happens to have a lot of marginalised rep in it. especially if it has a thematic point that would involve acknowledging politics
#my favourite example of that (as in i actually find it funny not it annoys me)#is cinemasins complaining the train in snowpiercer and the guy who wants the protagonist's eyes in get out don't make sense#like. they don't have to be explained in the story the point is they're a commentary on socio economic injustices and racism#stories aren't logic puzzles they're parables and if you read them as being logic puzzles you're doing it wrong#and spoiling a lot of really profound media for yourself#having said that the youtubers i hate most are reactionary cunts like nerdrotic critical drinker or turkey tom#they should be punched every time they upload until they fuck off#and the most annoying kind of youtubers (not hatable but annoying) are the ones who try to argue that mainstream media#which is trying to be diverse and progressive is Bad Actually (verilybitchie is awful for that and she doesn't like pan people#so that put me off her pretty quickly which is a shame bc some of her videos and topics are interesting)

Breaking my silence: Orpheus and Eurydice myth is more applicable to Sam and Cas' predicament in s6 rather than to Dean and Cas. Because it's a story about the retrieval of the soul.
I mean, there's definitely no romantic aspect to it but Cas fancy himself a bit of a demigod/son of Apollo, goes to Hell/Hades to rescue Sam/Eurydice/Soul, doesn't succeed, goes back to earth, fall in love with a guy who rejects him, goes crazy, rejects Dionysus as his god (!!!) and then he dies torn into pieces by the women who felt scorned because he only favored men.
I MEAN.
I MEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAN.
The myth is there so the👏people👏are👏right but I don't see it the same way as most people do. It's true that the myth is ancient and has many variations but, like, the basis are still the same, so it's not about Cas and Dean. Well, no, it's about them too actually!!! but not in the sense that Dean is Orpheus and Cas is Eurydice. But in the sense that Cas goes crazy for many reasons and Dean is the biggest one of them and he gets punished for it. I THINK.
#this will never be a sastiel blog. sorry. but also. it makes more logical sense this way#“hero goes to the underworld to rescue soul and is unsuccessfull” gives very much cas and sam vibes#of course this is only according to my mind and her endeavours to make sense of unexplained things in spn#unexplained things in spn: cas singlehandedly saved sam from the cage lol without realizing the guy was soulless. okay!#but. like. i think it works better than cas and dean as eurydice and orpheus#sooooorryyyyy. STILL destiel though#like..no matter how you spin it destiel is STILL there#ISN'T THIS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN BORING ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE LUKEWARM LOVE STORY?#isn't it actually what really counts? lol#destiel as betrayal#myths we live by#spn#spn s6#castiel#dean winchester#destiel

Do we ever find out if Devon Silvestri (the organ harvester) had any motivation beyond simple greed and delusions of greater medical expertise than he actually had?
Because he wasn’t intending to kill his victims, in fact he tried “heroic” measures to save the bathtub victim. Yet after accidentally causing his death, Silvestri continues to perform subpar surgeries in the same ambulance with the same M.O. on more people.
We’re distracted by Hannibal’s murder spree during the episode and the intense eye, uh, contact while Hannibal was in the ambulance at the end. But really, for Silvestri to commit the same crime in the same way when he had to know the police were on the lookout - he either had to be catastrophically stupid or desperate.
Maybe he was trading a bunch of organs on the black market for one he or a loved one needed too quickly to wait?
#Hannibal#will graham#Devon silvestri#sorbet#Hannigram#spectacularly well written as this show is#it sometimes drops the ball on making sure minor characters have their own internal logic#in favor of serving the story between the leads#Bedelia got the worst of it#“Hannibal will pusuade you to kill someone you love and you will think it’s the only choice you have#it’s a perfect prediction of the final moment between Will and Hannibal#but it makes zero sense with her backstory#she didn’t love Zachary Quinto#so why would she think that is part of Hannibal’s pattern?#anyway#Silvestri’s irrational behavior could be solved with one line of dialogue#Turns out his sister wasn’t approved for a new heart and he stuck a deal to get her one off the books#or something#to be fair this is like my 57th rewatch and this only now occurred to me#because the main story is so compelling

#tw for mild mentions of csa#when I was little a girl I was friends with and I had an interaction#that involved her teaching me what her brother taught her about#what I later learned was humping#and nothing was upsetting for me and the experience itself was whatever#but the way my friend had told me about it didn’t make logical sense to me#and I was like I know older siblings in stories trick younger siblings sometiems#of course I was young and dumb and like five years old and I didn’t know shit#and since it didn’t sit right with me I went home and told my mom#and she wrote their mom a letter#and just tonight I found out that my mom eventually got a letter back saying the mom hadn’t believed her and couldn’t understand#why my mom would write to her about this kind of accusation#but that after she’d investigated for a while it turned out the older brother had been out of line with my friend#and had done stuff to her (idk if someone did it to him too)#and my mom was right#we never got to hang out again after that day though#and the family moved away within a year or two#and I’m so. so glad. to know after all this time#that my friend had people find out and believe#I worried about her for a long time.#shh katie

Khaos Reigns (2)
So far, my two biggest complaints about new Mortal Kombat storytelling is the lack of Tomas in Lin Kuei-focused Khaos Reigns and lack of sensible logic behind characters’ choices. This is not really about how characters behave toward each other as this is rooted in the previous game, but how weak is the reasoning that pushes the story forward. Which sadly is how the whole attack on Kuai Liang’s wedding feels to me. We have Bi-Han’s lie
Cyrax: I still cannot believe that Liu Kang capitulated to Outworld. That he agreed to break up our clan.
that has no backing up. A certain time has passed between MK1 and current story mode, right? So if Liu Kang capitulated to Outworld, then logically Outworld forces should showed up in Earthrealm or the Fire Lord would knock on their door to say sorry guys, no more Lin Kuei; something Lin Kuei would be first to know. Even more, since apparently Lin Kuei were asked to protect Earthrealm in dire need in the previous game, something they refused to do (as we were told by Tomas). Liu Kang capitulating to Outworld would be a political change hard to miss. So it is no wonder why Cyrax is not buying it, as this lie makes little sense.
(Personally I think it would be better if Lin Kuei were not “deceived” but simply wanted their independence and supported Bi-Han for this goal alone, while Sub-Zero letting his father die still works fine as the shocking revelation to cast a doubt in Cyrax’s mind.)
Then we have Sektor and Bi-Han acknowledging Cyrax suspecting their deception
but apparently this is not a concerning enough to, you know, not including her in the attack or not giving her the top-technologically advanced armor, if you can't be sure of her loyalty.
Bi-Han said they will be ready when Cyrax learns the truth but as the story goes, there are no backup plans for that scenario. Sub-Zero does not deny he lied or killed his father and I really wonder what he or Sektor expected to happen? Yeah, so much for being ready to deal with the problem they were aware of from the start.
Same with the stealth attack on the wedding. Lin Kuei warriors successfully got unnoticed inside Wu Shi place,
where the wedding was happening. And instead of some of those ninjas quietly opening one of the gates, Sektor was using her guns to destroy the main gate, losing the element of surprise.
A tactical surprise that she and Bi-Han wanted to use it to their advantage.
Not to mention Lin Kuei warriors had no problem with getting past the not-even-so-high walls so it is not like the main gate was so necessary for their army to get inside. Or if they have such great firepower, they should thrown some grenades over the walls or set bombs before frontal attacking. Just saying.
Okay, that could be just Lin Kuei arrogance or testing the armors in battle (something they could anytime anywhere), but one would think a clan that for ages was doing commando-like work for Liu Kang would get the stealth attack correctly. Especially since one of the first things Sektor told us on screen was that Lin Kuei were not trained for Tournaments but for war.
Cyrax is overall a fine character, but for me she lacks an edge the MK9’s male Cyrax had and thus feel, well, meek. The story shows her as a person with a strong moral sense, however Bi-Han literally said to her the mission is to attack Kuai Liang and his clan. Harumi chose to fight back so why is Cyrax so surprised that Lin Kuei warriors were ready to kill her? It’s not part of their missions, she said when attacking her own people to save Scorpion’s fiance/wife-to-be, but for me this shows how much Cyrax is just naive and detached from reality. The previous game showed us that Lin Kuei brothers are ruthless fighters (Bi-Han was ready to decapitate defeated Shang Tsung, Kuai Liang effectively killed his opponents with no hesitate), so Cyrax jumping to rescue a woman that killed her own comrades kinda made me wonder, why she is even that important to Sektor or Bi-Han to be involved with them so close? Like, there is little I can see that could interest Bi-Han or Sektor in her, as she is presented from the start as disrespectful toward her superior and mentor (Sektor) and way more idealistic than any of them is. Literally the first argument she has with Sektor and her criticism about ambush & sneak attack tactics feels a bit off, considering this is what Lin Kuei were doing even as the good guys, presumably for centuries and with full approval of Liu Kang (as was seen in previous game).
Sure, we could say Cyrax is new! She knows no better… but then storyline openly claims she and Kuai Liang knew each other before he left the clan and even were once friends, so it is not like Cyrax just joined the Lin Kuei. On one hand, I understand why NRS went with Cyrax’s personality in such a direction, on another, she feels so un-Lin Kuei, I have no idea why Sektor and Sub-Zero even bothered with her in the first place. Like... what was so special about Cyrax for the whole fuss about her from their perspective?
In all fairness, I’m also a bit confused how MK1 and Khaos Reigns follow the same storyline. In the previous game, Bi-Han was captured by Kuai Liang after the ill-fated mission and presumably imprisoned. Then somehow Lin Kuei was asked(?) to aid Liu Kang in the battle against the sorcerers
so how is that the news of Sub-Zero allying with Shang Tsung is still a secret to anyone if Lin Kuei already made a decision to abbadon Earthrealm in need - story wise, after Bi-Han was defeated by Scorpion and captured? So I’m to believe Scorpion took compromised Sub-Zero to Lin Kuei headquarters like nothing happened, did not mention the whole allying with enemy, then left to honor tradition and dad and joined Liu Kang and some time later he is angry at Cyrax she believed in a not-well prepared lie? Is this me, or did NRS not connect all the dots together between the first game and the additional storyline and kinda every character took damage to intelligence so the story could go from point A to point B?
The relationship between certain characters is frustrating, I won’t lie about it. But I’m much more frustrated by how the logic and consequences of events feel either forced or make little sense. I do not except a brilliant, smart storytelling from a fighting game, but when characters that are supposed to be competent and/or trained for a specific job suddenly share one brain cell - and no one is using it at all - kills a great chunk of enthusiasm I had for Mortal Kombat.
I may not like my fav characters being robbed of their original complexity and yet still enjoying the fact they are part of the storyline. I do however take a great offense when story mode turns them into incompetent idiots just to push plot from point A to point B.
#mortal kombat 1: khaos reigns#mortal kombat#mortal kombat spoilers#bi han#sub zero#sektor#cyrax#lin kuei#mortal kombat worldbuilding#if i should even call this mess like that#cienie's rants#look i can forgive nrs making my loved sub zero bi han into bastard or evil man#but making him an idiot is the crossing line i won't accept#the whole first chapter of Khaos is such a mess#there is so little logical reasoning behind the action#we want stealth attack! so we fucking blow up a door when our people could quietly get inside#we know cyrax will be a problem when truth will come out#so we gave her our super advanced armor and take on mission she is already questioning#so fucking smart move uh-uh suuuuure#we make a lie that makes no sense since liu kang capitulation change the whole status quo and is too big deal to not notice something is of#like if he agreed to break lin kuei he would be already there knocking on their door#something to few months(?) has passed liu kang is still not there to destroy your clan but sure a perfect lie#at this point of story i think tomas stole the one brain cell get super smart and simply get the fuck out of this mess XDDD
