Hi folks! It seems like people are discovering that there are people online who write some WEIRD! 👎 stuff for Nevermoor. Some tips and tricks for dealing with that:

Don't engage. Don't read the fics. Don't even comment to say how much you hate it.

Don't spread it around. It's gross as hell, I know! But being like "ew, guys, I found this gross fic" just means you're causing more people to seek out said gross fic, and that's just not great. If you don't want to see it, no one else wants to either.

If you can: block, mute, or filter. I don't really use any fanfic sites to know if these functionalities exist, but I'm sure people online have found ways. Edit: here's a way to do it on Ao3.

TL;DR: Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. 👍

(PS: Same thing goes for when people send weird inappropriate anon messages. Just delete them from your inbox and don't subject others to them.)

This is unfortunately something that's been present for years in the fandom, on both Ao3 and Wattpad. This is also why I essentially don't read Nevermoor fics unless they're for Mogtober, and even then I'm cautious. I have seen some weird stuff written about my favorite characters that I wish I could pluck from my brain and set on fire, or worse! But when I stumble across that stuff, I just quickly close the tab and pivot to something else to get my mind off of it.

We should not entertain these types of people in a fandom full of minors about a middle grade series, so: just don't engage with them, ignore them, filter them out, and maybe even drown them out with some fics of your own.

{prooobably a bad time to post this considering its pretty late over here, and i think its also probably fair to assume that its pretty late on your end to. buuut i gotta do it now or ill forget.

so! as you've seen prior, we've had occasional interactions with "duplicates" of members of the party- yknow, the fact that theres at least three siffrins, and that one king, and another bonnie hanging around. amongst, ah.... other things.

but, issue is, we as a group have kiiind of- intentionally or not- created a specific universe/timeline for ourselves. one with "official" individuals standing in for each character. which is a long way of saying that we can't really have our characters interact directly- as in face-to-face- if they're a character who has a pre-claimed "role".

long story short: we probably won't be able to have "duplicates" in the central story since it would disrupt it and what we have planned. i promise its no hard feelings, it would just get. Really Messy. otherwise.

that being saiiiiid, we still wanna interact with ya'll, regardless of whether your playing your oc, an alternate timeline version of pre-exisiting character, or something else entirely! (King set up the Anon-Bird thing for that exact reason, but it obviously has it's faults.)

i cannot speak for the others at this time- i think it's sort of a mixed bag of indecision and we need to discuss it more. but i, personally, would love to interact face-to-face. i did say i was welcoming you all with open arms, after all! (it's really our bad for not being a little clearer....)

so, with that noted, my personal solution is to create the concept of "out of universe" interaction. this way we can still have our characters hang out, and it won't disrupt the main timeline. generally speaking, isabeau will still be in whatever physical (and mental) state he is during that point in the timeline, but there won't be the weight of it disrupting what's actually going on for him and getting everything wildly off track.

i reiterate that this isn't a hard rule. this won't necessarily carry across blogs, and, while i dont want to promise anything, if we collectively choose to continue on after the main story is finished, i'll probably loosen it up considerably. because i think the concept having multiples of the same character running around a still recovering vaugarde for no discernible reason is hilarious. and i have a fun idea for connecting prior OoU interactions to make them a little more "canon"- ish.

but, y'know, we all still need to discuss this properly.

shit this got long. okay. UM. UH.

TL;DR: we can't currently "canonically" have our characters interact directly if they're "duplicates" of characters in the main timeline. that being said, we still wanna rp with those folks, so i personally will be making the decision to open up "out of universe" interaction with people so we can still interact without creating a disruption. the others might not do the same, though.

My url/blog title in particular is just a reference to an image I used to use as my blog header (and unfortunately cannot find rn) which was a photo of a man wearing what appears to be a handmade halloween costume made mostly of construction paper with the words “space punk” written across the front of it.

welp. i apparently played a trick on myself or something. got asked to recommend a specific kind of older electronic music by a friend. remembered one album i had on fucking loop as a kid, and refound one of my favorite songs from it. like, whenever i was on a computer, i'd pull a specific danny phantom amv up with that song just to listen to and nothing else for a month straight (note: this is like pre 2007 youtube so i manually had to loop).

anyways relistening to the song ONCE! ONCE!!! has it now be on loop on my head again for the first time in likely 15 years.

I downloaded an app that I think is meant to be used for like, detailed food tracking or something, but I instead really just wanted something with this format (color coded calendar days) so I could put in one single simple entry a day to kind of rate my day overall (based on physical health symptoms).. which..... looking back over it for the new year since when I first started tracking.. 9 "good" days in about 9 months, so roughly one good day a month LOL...

#A neutral/yellow day is if I felt sick or had any symptoms (nausea. joint pains. headahces. etc.)#to a distracting degree for at least an hour or more at any point in the day - YET it was not so severe or so distracting #that i was completely unable to get anything done. An orange day is if I was so sick or felt so bad #that I completed absolutely nothing that day because my primary focus was basically spending the entire day on whatever #was wrong with me or recovering from that. And a green day is a day that - even if maybe i had a few aches or pains - I was never any #noticable or distracting amount of sick - PLUS - i also got a reasonable amount of things done.#If I don't feel very sick yet I also lack the energy or mental wellness to complete daily tasks then it still counts as a yellow day.#So I guess like.. Yellow is if health was ok but focus was bad OR focus was okay but health was distracting. Green is BOTH focus and #health were mostly okay for a majority of the day with no major setbacks. And Orange is zero focus whatsoever because health is too bad.#There are also 5 categories. the worst is a super dark red and then best is a super bright green but I don't like using them #You have to select a bright red (x_x) emoji face to classify your day as dark red. and I dont like the implication of a 'dead' person face #because of my ocd lmao... it makes me afraid it's some habringer of death (if I select it for that day then somehting terrible will happen #the next day or whatever lol) *** *** *** - so I never use that one. I also feel like the MOST extreme categories should be reserved for #super extreme circumstance like.. I would only do a dark red day if I was literally hospitlaized or something. And same with the bright #green days like.. that would imply I guess that i was both suuuuper productive ANd had basically no symptoms at all all day. like a #Very Very Good day. and I just think that's not even possible. no day ever goes by without me feeling at least a little sick or achey at #SOME point lol... A day with NO headahces or issues or etc would be.... wow... mythical occurence..#I have definitely gotten worse as I got older but even at like 15 or 16 years old I used to take ibuprophen a ton (I dont anymore of course #for stomach reasons lol) and remember having various minor problems here and there I was bothered by a lot #AAANYWAY.. also I count 44 'bad' days ghb... that's losing like.. at least one entire month of time a year.. maybe this is why I have so mu #much trouble getting things done and finishing my projects. BUT thats the point and why I wanted to track that. to like.. see it all laid #out at the end of the year. Maybe I could even compare years. Even though I started late in 2023. It'd be interesting to have a #yearly record of how many good vs. bad vs. neutral days I had in any given year.#(app is called 'Moodflow' on android phones. in case anyone sees this and asks. though I cant vouch for it or any of the features or anythi #ng since.. again. i literally ONLY use the one single feature of rating calendar days. I look at nothing else on there. And I keep my data #off and phone in airplane mode basically at all times so I never get ads on apps. Sometimes i'll mention liking some puzzle game or somethi #and then someone else is like 'yeah i love it but OMG so many ads' and I'm just like.. yeagh.... not for me lol.. but sorry to you. that #sounds annoying certainly..) ok i'm finally doing my requests (college caught us up so bad but now it's summer break)

You could tie your hair in low bunches on the sides and then maybe braid the low bunches if you feel like it? That way sleeping on your back they're not uncomfortable and the hair isn't pulled!

Oh, that's actually a pretty good idea! If the braids don't work, I could probably try loosely twisting the bunches as well. Tonight, I'm going to be seeing the dog who likes to hop on my hair while I sleep, so this is perfect timing for me to test it out!
