my friend @beloveddawn-blog helpfully sent me a list of questions to help me get my creative juices flowing in this massive bout of writing struggles i got going on. ily mwah.

1. Do you prefer in-denial Lance or pining Lance? How about Keith?

basic cop-out answer but it changes from fic to fic. in a more comedic fic, i like to go for lance who is both pining AND in-denial, aka he knows he’s in love and is mad at it, or i like to make keith like so painfully oblivious to lances blatant PLEASE DATE MEs that it’s funny. generally tho i go for gooey whipped mutual pining.

2. Do you prefer Keith to be baffled by Lance's flirting or just baffled Lance is flirting with him?

baffled that lance is flirting with him. the I Do Not Deserve To Be Loved -complex is my favourite complex to give keith bc i have problems and he’s just so easy to blorbo

3. What's your favourite episode and why?

i’m gonna be so real with you voltron was so bad that once i finished s6 at like 15 yrs old i vowed never to watch it again 💀💀 six years later this vow holds true. however i remember liking the first episode, the mermaid episode, the space mall episode, and the episode where keith chases lotor in the black lion and lance is like dude you fucked up. dumbass. but he’s very obviously fond and he’s THERE and they’re gonna fix it together and that is the first time keith realises that lance fully and completely has his back. that is the moment he fell in love to me

4. What's your favourite character beat and why?

i don’t know what a character beat is BUT i am a lance stan as you may have guessed. interestingly, i used to watch voltron with my siblings and as with all character things we did together, we each picked a favourite and then only that one character was allowed to be your favourite. lance was picked before i could pick him but i got keith (and thus have the most merch of him). and honestly….keith is kind of my favourite i never stop thinking about him and also i write in his pov the most (granted, about lance lol).

5. What's your favourite line you've ever written.

oh that’s a hard one! not to toot my own horn or anything but i’ve had some stellar lines, at least i think. i have a lot of lines that are profound or whatever but to this day i’m proudest of the “i’m anaemic” “oh i didn’t know you had an eating disorder” line like i made myself laugh out loud 💀

6. What's your favourite fic you've ever written

eighty percent of my fics are my faves bc i write to indulge myself lol. BUT i’m rly super proud of my look so good longfic, i love the applebees universe, and the beauty and the beast au is dear to me. i’m also obsessed with this fic that only exists in my head bc i have typed nothing yet. it’s a theatre school taming of the shrew au.

7. What is your favourite type of AU? Do you prefer complete AUs (like BatB) or detail AUs (that angsty thing you wrote where Lance leaves after the game show)?

i love modern aus really. i’m a fan of the mundane. as a close second i like redoing movies/songs/books that aren’t usually au’ed. and i like complete aus WAY better, i just have trouble actually completing them 😭😭

With all due respect (and I really hope you don’t take this as an attack because it’s genuinely not meant to be one) do you think Ian loves Mickey at all? I know what he did in S6 was shitty but sometimes I think we have to keep in mind that things were written the way they were because the writers were trying to erase Mickey and Gallavich from the narrative at the time. Obviously, you can think however you want but saying Ian never thought about Mickey or that he never would have visited him if he didn’t have a selfish incentive just seems like a bad faith reading of the situation (to me)

Of course I think Ian loves Mickey!

I think maybe you misunderstood what I meant when I said I didn’t think Ian thought about Mickey and the incentive to visit him. I probably didn’t word it very well. Also, this is really just my opinion. I’m not saying it’s exactly what the case was.

I don’t mean that he stopped caring and therefore Mickey never crossed his mind, I mean that Ian was desperate to move on from (and forget about imo) everything that had happened in that time in his life (rightfully so). And Mickey was a huge part of that. In my opinion, it began that he just didn’t want to burden Mickey and he felt guilty for everything that happened between them. He was also really struggling mentally.

When his MH improved he felt guilty about leaving Mickey in jail. Every time he thought about it he felt terrible - for Mickey, for how he ended it, for what he put him through (I’m not saying he should, but he probably did feel that way). It was probably really hard for Ian to think about Mickey and remember anything but the bad times for a long time. And that was hard for Ian to deal with.

Ian’s an avoidant guy. He runs from things he doesn’t want to deal with/ think about. This was hard for Ian. He felt bad every time he thought about it so he threw himself into moving on. What I mean is, he pushed his feelings and thoughts about Mickey down deep. When Mickey crossed his mind (which Ian did say happened a lot) he did everything he could to stop it. His feelings didn’t go away at all, but he absolutely suppressed them.

It’s the main reason that once Ian sees Mickey in season 7, he quite literally can’t resist him. That’s what I mean by “out of sight, out of mind.” It wasn’t that he didn’t care, but it was easier for Ian to push thoughts of Mickey away. Mickey was gone! Ian had a new job, friends, boyfriends, family stuff. Plenty to keep him distracted. (Mickey didn’t have that, he had nothing to do but to think about Ian).

But once Ian sees him, everything he’s suppressed about Mickey comes rushing back. He can’t ignore it anymore or distract himself anymore. Literally one sniff (lol) of Mickey and the guy is a goner, ready to do whatever he can to be near the guy (if even for a while). He knows he can’t go with Mickey to Mexico, but he knows he loves him. It’s why he’s so happy to see him in prison.

That’s also what I mean by that Ian would probably continue to bury his feelings if Mickey hadn’t escaped. And wouldn’t have visited him. By incentive, I don’t mean Ian would have to get something out of it (tho I don’t think is completely unlikely tbh). I just mean something would have happened that causes Ian to be unable to bury his feelings anymore.

(One of the reasons why I love fics where Mickey gets out of prison after 8 years is cos u often see this dynamic of Mickey who had done nothing but think about Ian for years and had finally made some peace with the fact that they weren’t together, and Ian who had convinced himself he’d moved on and was okay but realises after being around Mickey like twice that he definitely hasn’t.)

Secondly, the fact that the writers were trying to erase Mickey and gallavich is why I think this. The writers wanted Ian not to think about Mickey. So when they wrote it, they wrote him not caring. In hindsight, we can analyze and theorise about the times Ian might have thought about Mickey. But the reality is, that isn’t what the writers wanted to portray. I think headcanons and theories are great and help us make sense of a poorly written show. But I think it’s important to remember that that’s what they are - headcanons, not canon. For example, I’m in total agreement with the headcanon that Mickey was one of the reasons that Ian was so passionate about the Gay Jesus stuff. But, I think it’s important to remember that the writers did not write it that way. They had no intentions to have Mickey be part of anything more at all.

So yea, I don’t think Ian stopped caring or loving Mickey or that he never thought about him. I think he loved him so much that it was extremely hard for him to think about him, so he tried really hard not to. I think there’s great theories and analysis and headcanons that look into why Ian acted how he did. But knowing that the writers weren’t thinking about Mickey at all, I don’t really buy into all the theories that everything Ian did in seasons 6-9 somehow connected to how much he loved/ missed Mickey. Some things Mickey just wasn’t a part of. (Example - I don’t think Ian’s “I miss Mickey” to Mandy is as deep as some other people do. If you do that’s fine! Think what you want. It’s just my opinion).

The show became a bit of a mess. So theories and headcanons are how you get through and make sense of it. But you can disagree or agree with them. This is just my theory :)

Anyway, that’s basically what I think lol, just my opinion, so hope that cleared that up. Thanks for asking, I enjoy things like this :)

Seasons:

1. Season 3

Best episode: one day, one room (?)

Favorite episode: merry little christmas

Honorable mention(s): cane and able, words and deeds, family, needle in a haystack

Least favorite episode: que sera sera (?)

it was hard to pick the best bc i'm biased towards merry little christmas, but i don't know if it would be the best of the season exactly. as for que sera sera, nothing really wrong with it but honestly i had a hard time picking a least favorite too. great season – to me it's like the classic house season.

2. Season 5

Best: birthmarks

Favorite: under my skin

Honorable mention(s): the softer side, last resort, both sides now, painless

Least favorite: big baby (?)

i literally just barely remember big baby compared to the rest, i think, no matter how many times i see it. amazing season though, honestly so up there with s3 for me that it became a tough choice.

3. Season 6

Best: help me

Favorite: wilson

HM(s): the down low, broken (part 1 & 2), baggage, lockdown

Least favorite: epic fail, remorse (?)

help me is such an amazing episode, it always makes me cry. epic fail is extremely annoying tho and idk why, like after i watched it more than once or twice i started having a hard time rewatching it. and honestly every time i watch remorse i get pissed off on thirteen's behalf and it's just not a fun feeling. not a bad episode though. i know a lot of people don't like s6 but i love it.

4. Season 2

Best: euphoria (part 1 & 2)

Favorite: no reason

HM(s): skin deep, distractions, hunting, clueless

Least favorite: sleeping dogs lie

i recently rewatched euphoria and it's so fucking good i legitimately cried. sleeping dogs lie isn't a bad episode, it just is frustrating to watch for many reasons. another classic house season.

5. Season 4

Best: house's head/wilson's heart

Favorite: house's head/wilson's heart, 97 seconds

HM(s): mirror mirror, you don't want to know, frozen, living the dream

Least favorite: the right stuff

nothing really wrong with the least favorite – it was honestly a tough choice. also i couldn't pick a favorite, it was so tough. i honestly really like this season despite how short and different it is.

6. Season 1

Least favorite: heavy, everybody lies (pilot)

the pilot being orange just makes me laugh the whole time so it's hard to watch, and chase's insane fatphobia in heavy is just disturbing, which is the only reason it's a least favorite. for the best i was torn between three stories and detox, but i think detox is better. s1 is ranked so low bc of general weirdness.

7. Season 8

Best: the c-word, everybody dies

Favorite: the c-word

HM(s): dead & buried, twenty vicodin, nobody's fault, post mortem

Least favorite: we need the eggs

we need the eggs isn't bad, the case is just ??? weird and kinda sad tbh idk. i haven't rewatched the c-word yet but i remember it fondly, so i couldn't really choose a best episode. is picking the finale kinda dumb? maybe, idk. i like a lot of episodes from season 8 surprisingly, like most of them, but it's so different from the previous seasons with cuddy absent and the late addition of two new main characters that it can't be any higher for me.

8. Season 7

Best: after hours

Favorite: after hours, out of the chute

HM(s): unwritten, bombshells, the dig, moving on, fall from grace

Least Favorite: two stories

god i really can't stand rewatching two stories. idk what it is but the fucking kids that house gets stuck with in the principal's office are so annoying ??? probably my least fave episode in all of house. but despite how s7 is at the bottom, it did have some great episodes. just wasn't my favorite season at all, especially as someone who isn't really into huddy.

Pre-S6 Thoughts

->for the most part I think I understand what’s going on with shiro, but I want to really make sure. jussssst in case.

->they gave lance a big focus in season five so hopefully “we” get to see what that’s culminating to. Super excited about that!

->I don’t fw Lotor all that much despite him being the blorbo by proxy (oomf’s fav) but hopefully this season can change that. I’m just beginning to like him (beginning!) and it’s a 400k slowburn melting an ice berg of hate at that. but it’s getting there. soon they’ll hold hands.

->despite my personal enjoyment of allurance, I would be okay with lotura if Lotor got fully redeemed (in the show and in my heart)

-> PLEASE MAKE KEITH COME BACK!! AND WITH HIS MOM!! I’M BEGGING.

->I’ve noticed a sort of pattern where the characters get a specific episode(s) dedicated to them each season (shiro s1, keith s2, keith+allura s3, pidge s4, and lance s5) So hopefully hunk gets his focus episode this season

->hopefully more haggar/honerva lore, maybe even lotor lore to redeem him using Tragic Backstory™ points

Post-Season Six

-> This season had me getting punched,kicked and tortured left and right and up and down and everywhere. the plot twists and dramatic turns and cries and gasps just kept coming

-> this season left me like lance at the climax of a langst fanfic (yk like right b4 they save him and he’s all fucked over)

-> there are lots of things i liked and also SO MUCH i didn’t like this season

-> so pros and cons basically that’s it that’s the “review”

->WE GOT HUNK APPRECIATION!!! HE GOT TO BE THE ENGINEER AND BE SUPER HELPFUL AND ACTUALLY USE ONE OF HIS SKILLS ABDUWBDJSN IM SO HAPPY FOR MY BOY. MY SON. AAAAHHH.

->^LITERALLY LOOK AT HIM!!! HE GOT SOLID CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT TOO!! He reacted much calmer than his s1/2 self would have in a far less stressful situation!!! He grew up!!! HE GREW UPPPP!!

->why did lance “die” in the first ep?? It was so random and literally served no purpose?? like it was never talked about in the other episodes and was literally just randomly put in the episode’s run time. it had nothing to do with the shield or whatever was going on with Shiro or lotor either

->does it get talked about in the next seasons or?? like it was literally just a throwaway scene

->KEITH AND HIS MOM!!! THEYRE BONDING!!! KEITH MAKES GOOD RELATIONSHIPS!!!!

->the whole “two years” thing is a little difficult to comprehend on all of its layers but I like to think of it positively because that means Keith and krolia got to spend time building upon their relationship and everything that krolia missed, more than just those flashbacks were “memory shared” between them, and keith resolved some of his internal conflicts.

->however it is probably going to make Keith be even more distant with the team because in his mind two years passed while in theirs only like 2-3 months passed from seeing him in person (if you don’t count 5x04 but they barely saw him there) so the relationships that he was building with them have fallen back a little on his part but the others still feel super close to him, so I hope that also gets resolved in s7

-> LANCE IS CUBAN!!! I got super excited you guys don’t understand. maybe you do considering the notes on my post where I said that. But still. I actually squealed so loud when he said it.

-> The mock DnD episode was super fun!! the calm before the storm though I guess

->I guess I have to suffer for the absolute SQUEAL I gave when Kieth went up to the black lion and said “FORM VOLTRON” making them do the thing where they’re divided into 5 frames like a comic

->I got so excited when keith went all galra! ultimately yeah he did it because he was incredibly stressed but still it was super cool!

-> I was actually a little sad that Lotor didn’t get a real redemption. Like yeah I saw it from a mile away by the way he talked about quintessence and overall attitude but idk,, like him and allura actually seemed in love. even if he was just doing it for the quintessence you could tell he actually ended up genuinely falling in love with her. maybe it’s just me, but i think it would’ve been nice.

-> maybe keith and him could’ve bonded about being half-galra, and keith would finally get some solidarity with someone who knows exactly how he feels? idk it’s just a lot of missed opportunity there.

-> and then they just…kill him off…wow. that was a lot to take in. I had to actually take a moment. I mean it wasn’t even his fault, really. the quintessence got to him just like his parents. it’s actually super tragic now that I think about it. reminds me of family jewels by MARINA.

->I will say though that final battle was absolutely amazing. Beautifully animated and the action was great. I loved getting to see all the lions powers in the quintessence field. And the flaming sword?? that was literally awesome.

-> my hopes of allurance died but i think this is actually a really good step, Allura still felt bad for lotor when she didn’t wanna leave him in the quintessence field because she still loved him and after the conversation she had with the mice it was obvious she doesn’t (and won’t) like lance back, (she could’ve began to in s4/5) and lance seems to accept this as well, (seeing how he handles it when allura confides in him) which would be good for their relationship. so im happy about that 😊

->ngl if they ended it here it could’ve been pretty good, solid ending. Like, leave the rest up to interpretation sort of thing. (Yes I know there are some strings to be tied yet but yk what I mean) The ending was really satisfactory and if they just fixed a couple plot holes it would’ve been the perfect way to end the show tbh. Idk tho I still need to watch the last two seasons so I’ll see if I still keep my opinion then

“You are the Alpha” is possibly one of the greatest and most well executed plot twists I have ever seen. Even to this day, after 20 rewatches, I lose my mind every time. I feel actual chills every. Single. Time.

The first time I watched it will also always be one of the most memorable moments of my life. My jaw was on the floor. I literally had to stop the episode and go outside and scream and freak out for a whole 30 minutes.

• Eli's Mother plothole. Who is she? Idfk. Personally, I want it to be Braeden. He was born somewhere around the s3b/s4 mark as the movie is 13 years after s6.

• I'm not a Sterek person. I was actually extremely (still kinda am) against Sterek for a very long time. But this movie? I'm questioning a lot of things. What are the complicated feelings, Derek? Hmm? Oh wait, that's right. He can't answer me because he's fucking dead.

• While we're on the topic. Why, Jeff? Why. Not only did he die of fire (like the rest of his fucking family), but he died in front of his son. Derek Hale allowed his son to watch him die. I'm not saying Derek wouldn't die for Eli (because he absolutely would), but to traumatize him like that? No. The man who was kidnapped, tortured, groomed, sexually assaulted at 15, forced to kill the girl he loved, whose family was burned inside their own home by the woman who molested him... was killed off by burning him with hellfire.

• NOBODY making a move to stop Derek from sacrificing himself in the first place? Scott just stared. Stood there. Did nothing. Wtf? Even though Jordan could've just held Void himself, like, dude. You're a Hellhound. He's a werewolf/demon thing. You were destined to kill bigger.

• Derek allowed Scott to take in Eli? Excuse? The man who hates being a werewolf and his 17(?) year old 10th grade girlfriend who died before Eli was born, and who just so happens to be related to the woman who molested him and murdered his family? Yeah, no. Why not his perfectly capable(sorta) and healthy(physically, not mentally) uncle, cousin and sister. Or at least his Grandpa Noah, Grandma Melissa or Uncle Chris. (I'm a Peter/Chris person. Sue me.). These people have been in Beacon Hills and has known him his entire life. Scott met him once when he was three.

• What happened to Stydia? Like, you can't tell me Stiles just allowed her to walk out that door without talking in some way? He loved her for fucks sake.

• Jordan and Malia? I'm not saying it's bad. It's not, I actually kinda like it. But where did it come from? No buildup whatsoever. Just BOOM sex scene.

• Liam gets like, 5 mins screen time. Despite preparing to take on the role of Alpha in s6, he's like a side character put there just to be there. He slayed those 5 minutes tho holy shit.

• Liam doesn't say a single word to Mason. Mason doesn't say a single word to Liam. Why? They were best friends and had this seemingly unbreakable bond in the show but now it's like mom and dad are fighting and don't acknowledge each others existence.

• Speaking of Mason, why is he (a gay black man) a cop? This could've been interpreted as either good or bad depending on how you personally want to take it, but during the time this movie was in production, the BLM movement was still pretty big.

• It's an entire game of 'Where's Waldo' but instead of Waldo actually being there, Waldo is both a giant motherfucking plothole and multiple people. Where is Corey? Where is Theo? Where is Cora? Where is Braeden? Where is Kira? Where is Isaac? WHERE. IS. STILES?

• On the Isaac and Stiles Topic, they're the two that should've been there. Isaac had the Nogitsune at the end of season 3, and took it with him to France. Why do Hikari and Liam have it in FUCKING JAPAN? How'd it get there? Why do they have it? What happened to Isaac?

• Stiles. Where is he. You're telling me that the one person who probably knew the Nogitsune more than it knew itself, wasn't at the battle. You're telling me that Stiles, the one person able to out-fox a fucking fox on multiple occasions when he was FUCKING 17 wasn't there? In all his F.B.I. glory? Because ehe could've had Cora, Braeden, Isaac and Kira in tow, and showed up in the final battle guns blazing, killing the Nogitsune, and saving his pack in his tactical F.B.I vest fresh off a secret important case like sorry I'm late, had shit to do? Then Eli could've met his father's beta, his (possible, cause I love Derek and Braeden) mother, AND the badass F.B.I. guy whose jeep he steals 24/7 and had saved his father on multiple occasions? (Bcus it's confirmed Derek talks about Stiles to Eli) And a cutesy pack scene to finish it off? (With maybe some Stira, Stisaac and/or Stora cause he showed up with them and could be dating one (or all) of them)

• Each antagonist of the movie has (or at least a reason to have) a vendetta against Stiles. We know all about the Nogitsune. Harris hated Stiles' guts, albeit for no particular reason. Even Allison could've blamed Stiles for her death in some way (not that she would, of course.) It reads as though it was written for DOB but when he didn't want to do it, they decided not to rewrite it as such.

• Why Mr. Harris in the first place-? Like, he was one of the sacrifices in S3A, so surely the NEMETON would've known he didn't actually die. And the fact that he still has beef with them just blows my mind :/

As someone who's decided to rewatch Winx Club (for nostalgia) I have grown to really hate The Trix.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them in season 1. Icy, Stormy & Darcy were so cool and I adored them but after that, they appeared in every. single. season.

I get it, they're fan favourites but do they have to be shoved into every season? I've started S4 and I'm loving the focus on the Wizards and not having the Trix show up. I think they were in an episode but that was it.

I also get that there's a story with them that after S1, they're at this prison or a rejuvenating site and they escape, they're on the run, get imprisoned, break out but why did they go from cool & badass to just sidekicks/henchmen to the other villains?

This is nothing against them being in love (even tho that was annoying too) but I just wished the show focused on the season's villain and have no Trix whatsoever or have cutaways to them but don't have them be the main focus.

I also understand that they want revenge on the Winx and that's understandable but wouldn't it have been cooler to have not seen them until S8 where they have trained and planned the revenge? Like they weren't seen because they were making themselves stronger and are actually beating the Winx in fights when they reappear again.

I do apologise for the long rant but rewatching this show has made me realise why younger me loved the Wizards of the Black Circle way more and S4 as a whole.

Where would be the best place for buddie to go canon?

Okay, I have conflicting feelings about this, because nothing about buddie goes smoothly, they literally start because of a bomb, so I kinda think that they should keep the trend and make it happen somewhere unrelated? I know most people want it to happen in a kitchen, and I agree to a degree, but because the kitchens are sacred and I want that to be broken (I don't really think it's gonna happen, but I kinda wanted to see them fight in one of the kitchens because that would cut so much deeper than them fighting in unrelated locations), I also kinda think it shouldn't be in a kitchen. That being said, from existing locations, the ideal spot is Eddie's kitchen, but mostly because Eddie's kitchen has this energy of comfort and honesty, and if we keep the trend of important things happening to them in a kitchen, like Buck introducing Eddie to Carla, the post-tsunami conversation, them clearing the air after the lawsuit, the couch talk, them talking about the shooting, possibly Buck coming out, we could go there, but the thing is, it mostly happens at the loft tho, Eddie's kitchen doesn't really have romantic connotations the same way the loft has, and it is a place of vulnerability for Eddie, it's where we see him talk to Carla about Chris being scared of the job, it's where we see him talking to Chris during his breakdown arc, even the breakup with Ana is more about him being honest, and the 6x12 scene that has a lot of that with the way he's talking about being shot, and you have things that are exacerbated like when Buck is trying to talk to him in 5x11 and he doesn't really go into the kitchen, because Eddie is not letting him, and all of that is not true for Buck's kitchen, because loft in and on itself is a place of doomed relationships, with him getting it with Ali just for them to break up right after, everything about Taylor, Natalia running from it, so like, Buck doesn't really have a successufull relationship that's attached to his loft, so if we are talking about maximum intimacy in a sense, especially since I'm a firm believer Buck needs to make a move, so letting Buck in like that in the kitchen would really really drive that point home, to have Buck say "I love you, I want you, I want this" and having Eddie reciprocate there would be very intense. Even more if you consider the breakup with Ana "it's your mess now" and the whole thing with Abby and "stepping in with them" you could have a pretty epic scene happen in there. And when you consider how kitchens are an intimate place in 911 as a whole, and it might be just me and the way my therapist keeps telling me that regards relationships "if your life is a house, it's fine to keep people in the porch, but it's not everyone you can invite into the kitchen" and the way the show has made a point of Eddie being extremely careful about who we see in his house, and how the show loves to use locations in characters in a meta level, I don't think you can get more, I don't know, intimate, than Eddie's kitchen,

BUT the thing is, a lot of buddie is contained to the house. To the point that it is weird that they only had one scene in there in s6, so there's a chance that getting together there would confine them into the house in a sense, even more with the way things keep happening outside the house lately, to make it happen in a completely new location would be interesting, depending on how they play it. Because they had very intense scenes that happened outside the safety bubble one of the kitchens provides like the will reveal, them making up after the lawsuit at the station, the cemetery, even the grocery store of it all, the panic attacks convo, stuff like that, and that could be nice to watch.

There's a chance that the way they have been fumbling in their relationship since the last time we saw Buck with Eddie in the house is to make a point of how the house is their spot and the getting together would be to solidify that, and maybe we won't see Buck in the house if it's not about Chris until then, but I also think a lot of the message season 6 gave with not letting them in the house all that much is that buddie is more about the people and less about the space, but considering they haven't been alone outside of a call or at the station since the cemetery, a scene that feels like a breakup, them getting together at the house could give this sense of they finally got it right, with the way the house feels like home for the audience when it comes to them and Eddie is very careful about who he lets in it, so it could give this idea that they are finally home, so, like, if we are staying contained to known locations, Eddie's kitchen for sure, but that's because that would be the best place for an ideal getting together, but when have things been ideal for them? So I think a random location would be fun if they play the scene right. Especially because if they are moving in the direction I think they are going, where there will be no previously established pining, they're not gonna make it as if any of them have been secretly aware that they're in love with the other, you can have them kiss in a random location, and you make a kitchen scene the first time they say I love you, so you keep the milestone in the kitchen, but you don't make them get together in the kitchen, so you don't trap them in the house. You can even make the get together something heat of the moment outside the safety bubble, that they can't talk about in the moment it happens, and then have them talk about what it all means for them in the kitchen, so you maintain the kitchen of it all as they define the relationship, but not the actual getting together.

TLDR: random location for a kiss, talk about it in Eddie's kitchen is my ideal scenario right now.

Okay watching season six is torture for my Rumbelle heart. (For context, i'm on s6e4 rn, so i can only talk about their relationship until that point.) Most importantly, i've always kept defending them, but now... i'm starting to think: How can they possibly end up together after this? Are the writers actually destroying Rumbelle like people have said all along? Is S6 just a retcon of their previous development?

But you know me, i'm always trying to find an in-universe explanation. And i think i found one that at least partly explains what's happening:

The baby is the worst thing that could have happened to Rumple and Belle.

Hear me out. I know the baby sounds like good news for them at first - a chance to start over as a family. But in reality, it just brings out the worst in both of them. Well, not objectively the worst, but traits that stop them from being together.

Aside from fear, Rumple's biggest motive has always been to protect his loved ones. That can lead him to doing the wrong thing because he would do anything to protect them. And with that baby on the way, his protectiveness is only going up. When he lived with his first son, he ruined their lives, so now he wants to be a better father for his second child. Although he loves Belle, Bae / his children have almost been the most important to him, probably because his own parents left him. So in summary, more than ever, he's doing everything to protect Belle and their baby - even if that means harming others or acting against Belle's wishes.

Belle, on the other hand, has been trying to put herself and her own feelings and needs first. Before that, she has tried to love Rumple despite everything, but now she's come to realise that - because of his trauma, and because he won't ever become a good person -, he has often ended up causing her harm, and she's still hurt by that. So even before the baby, she had decided to get away from him at least for some time, for her own sake. And now there's the baby. And like Rumple, like any mother, she would do anything to protect it. So she has to ask herself if having Rumple in their life is really the safest thing for them. Now, if nothing else had happened, she would have maybe come to the conclusion that she needed Rumple so he could protect them. But then there's Gideon disguised as Morpheus, visiting her in a dream and convincing her that because he would do anything to protect them, he will only cause them harm again. He speaks directly to her fears and wounds. So her still being hurt by everything Rumple has done and her wanting to protect her child are enhanced by what her unborn child tells her, leading he to a drastic conclusion that she maybe wouldn't have come to otherwise: She needs to keep herself and their baby away from Rumple.

So these two things - Rumple wanting to protect their child and Belle wanting to stay away from Rumple - clash in s6e4 and make each other worse. Especially because Rumple's protectiveness actually almost kills Belle and the baby, confirming her fears. With their strongest motives - both seperately being understandable - being so contradictory rn, they can't be together if there isn't a major change.

So my answer to the questions i mentioned above is: What's happening isn't bad character writing or a retcon, it actually makes sense. I'm still wondering how the writers will fix their relationship tho.

/2 and to be aware that you'll have some people jumping down your throat trying to explain away terrible writing choices with 'uwu poor steve has sooo much trauma uwu, you don't understand him' and proceed to write a giant block of meta full of hcs and personal interpretations and projection while trampling over your (a real, flesh and blood human being's) very valid feelings of frustration with the way the characters are written in this tv series, just to 'protect'(???) steve (fictional character!). also hilariously forgetting (or just ignoring) that the character of danny also has metric tons of trauma and none of it gets addressed. there's a pretty good reason why s6-10 are seen as 'character assassination' of danny and are the reason some authors left the fandom. sure, there's some nice mcdano moments! and storylines! but it's a quality rollercoaster there are some things that happen that i lovelovelove and others that make me want to hit my head on my desk so hard (the 'charlie will hate you' thing, everyone being ungrateful/dismissive, and in s8, and in s9 and in s10). the producers+writers for some reason cannot make them feel as close as they were in the first 5 seasons and that's just so sad man. they had a great thing going and they dropped the ball so hard. I really recommend rewatching the the first seasons right after ending the series to see the contrast, not just in writing choices but how the actors themselves are trying their best and still seem to be so -done- with everything which is absolutely tied to those links in my first ask; plus alex wanting to be done by s5 and leave, and scott also being done by s5, but staying (even if in lesser capacity, check his imdb: starting from s6 onward he disappears for 4-6 episodes (for his fam and his acting career))

i reiterate, i just writing this to say it valid to feel happy/glad/frustrated/angry/have negative feelings about the show, and nobody should make you feel like they are not or try to explain away questionable stuff like it's your fault you don't 'get it' (while making things up and not taking into account the unfortunate happening in behind the scenes).

About the stuff you mentioned with Danny and 'character assissination' I have to agree 100%

as much as I've started to like s7 the longer I keep watching the more the cracks start to show again,

with both Danny and steve being uncharacteristically nasty at times again towards each other and also this overall feeling that they're just not quite as close as they used to be?

Don't get me wrong it's still miles better than s5 and don't even get me started on s6

But with everything you just told me, that was apparently going on behind the scenes, I guess it's no wonder?

Still I keep my fingers crossed that once I've made it to the end it might not be quite as bad as I've heard?

Maybe it's just false hope because s7 has done a pretty good job emulating the vibe of the earlier seasons so far

Right now I'm at the episode where max is leaving and I have to say it genuinely made me teary eyed to see him go and knowing that he won't be the only character this season to leave for good doesn't make it very easier to keep going,

even if I really dig this more light hearted and at times somber vibe this season.

I also really liked how everyone got a very heartfelt speech about who they are to max and I felt they did a very good job keeping it equal

how'd you rank buck's love interests sans tommy

Like how much I liked them as characters or as a couple? Or how much I enjoyed watching the story? Not really a rank but sure I'll tell my thoughts.

Abby - This relationship on paper was sooo interesting to me at the beginning, not because they were gonna make the greatest romance story of all time but I loved what they were building with the dynamic with the age gap and where they were individually in life. But as I was watching it develop, I thought it was a bit boring. Like they were so many things they could explore with it but didn't. I didn't really care about Abby that much but she was fine, also she was a main character who had her own issues and personality and all that which worked better imo. I think I enjoy their relationship more with the context of season 2. Buck still pining for her and waiting for months is the saddest thing and her return and them finally having some conclusion... like I cry each time lol. He really loved her so much, it makes me a bit sick when I think about it.

Taylor - Okay, her first appearance I out loud said "omg she's so unlikable" but their S2 fuckbuddies dynamic was soooo hot. S4 friends-who-don't-wanna-fuck-at-all dynamic was better, I was very entertained while watching that. As a couple they were a bit boring and lost the chemistry, mainly because I think they were set up to fail. The episodes where they tried to build some sort of backstory for Taylor feels so up in the air. They had potential imo but the production didn't commit to it. Also Buck cheating on her was bad but him not being able to deal with the guilt and telling her AFTER he basically trapped her in his place was the worst thing he's ever done in this show, like worse than the lawsuit imo. It makes sense in the context of his characterization and backstory obv but Taylor was too nice about it. Taylor's expose was mean as well but like not in a "this is fun to watch" way as their earlier dynamic, they just never were set up for success. Glad Buck learned to end a relationship when it's not working tho.

Lucy - I don't know if we're counting her but I was big on Lucy when she was introduced. I didn't even mind the cheating that much tbh (except for how it all went for BuckTaylor like i said). Like I can see an alternate reality where the show acknowledges that initial attraction with that ill-advised kissing scene, then like a season down the road after Taylor is gone and Buck and Lucy has built a working/friends relationship the romantic possibility is brought back. Again I don't know if this was something to do with the actress because S5 ends with that scene of the 118 including Lucy and Ravi so you'd think she'll have a permanent recurring role next season, then it's entirely dropped and her character goes through all these changes (she's presented as less experienced than Buck at one point? then she's transfering to become a captain?) Idk but I love Lucy, not as Buck's love interest at this point but I think she has so much potential as a character.

Ali - The only reason she's higher than Natalia is because I liked her energy in the earthquake episodes and genuinely thought they were gonna go somewhere at the end of Buck Actually. Like I had no idea she was gonna break up with him on her next appearance? Lol I dunno, was it like an actor availability thing again because they don't even have a proper break up. Also honestly thinking back, I think I liked her chemistry with Eddie more, she should have called him instead.

Natalia - Eh I don't have anything to say about this, it started too late and on weak legs (and with a very forced couch metaphor that pushed the writers into a corner) and ended too prematurely. Feel a bit bad about how it became recontextualized as a nothing of a relationship after S6 making Buck say all that about her. At the end of the day, they were two pretty people kissing on my screen tho which I always like.

But I just got the BIGGEST My Hero Academia spoiler about Dabi and im having a whole conniption right now😭

And I wanna talk about it SO BAD but I don't want to spoil anyone else bc spoilers suck and most ppl hate it.

Back when I first started watching MHA which was just like a few months before S6 was released, when I first saw Dabi's character I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with him.

Now...I'm not someone that goes out and looks for spoilers cuz I don't really like being spoiled. But sometimes I get spoilers anyways 😭 but it doesn't bother me too much, mostly bc 9 times out of 10 I'll completely forget about it by the time I get there in the show anyways lmfao (the ADHD habit of literally forgetting everything 5 seconds after it happens)

But the ONE and ONLY time I actually purposely sought information/ spoilers was right after Dabi was introduced and I wanted to know absolutely everything there was to know about this man, and I was too impatient to wait for it to come up in show (especially since this was before S6 release so TECHNICALLY him being a Todoroki was still a spoiler for anime only ppl)

Therefore, I dug up everything I could and there are lots of things I know about Dabi's back story that even still are not in the anime, however, THIS information that i just got was very much so new to me😭😭

And while maybe this might not be as big of a spoiler as I'm making it out to be, it certainly feels that way as a Dabi fan

I don't even know any of the details, or how it happens, or when, or what triggers it, I just know the singular detail of information and that it's from the final arc

And again, maybe I'm over reacting 😭 cuz I really love Dabi SO MUCH and this bit of info just like is such a game changer. And it's really such a slap in the face to Enji (deserved) and also it's like...So fucking awesome, but when u really think about it, it's a bit sad in some ways?? Bc of all the trauma he had to go thru in order to get here, and how that really could have been avoided if Enji wasnt such an abusive father.

And also like.... the relationship this could have created between Shoto and his older brother🥲 I know Dabi hates him because of the favoritism Enji played and Shoto got everything that he felt like he deserved, and all of the attention that he craved. But like honestly i wish for nothing more then for them to have the wholesome sibling relationship that I see is fanarts😭😭 bc both of them deserve so much love, especially after how they were both abused by the same man, just in different ways. And I feel like, if Touya had been allowed a normal childhood, this new info would have created a bond between them that just would have been so sweet and wholesome 😭😭

I just want him to feel loved🥲 but I'm like fr losing it over this spoiler even tho it was a such a tiny piece of information and I just needed to say SOMETHING while still trying my best not to spoil others

so i'm watching the walking dead (kinda for the first time, i watched the first 3, 3 and a half seasons back in the day, now i'm on s10) and it's taking over my life and the issue with that is that i actively look for opinions, character rankings, analysis etc.

and it's an issue because i've discovered that the fandom really doesn't like maggie. and the reasons why make no sense to me like, at all, and they make me feel crazy

that means ofc that i need to rant about it

first: s1-s6 maggie. i think most people say they like maggie just fine in these seasons, or they just don't care about her that much. everyone complains about her forgetting about beth in 4b-5a but i mean. the general consensus is that that's shitty writing and not maggie being an awful sister (tho i have seen that opinion as well lol).

but the most common complaint i've seen about her character in this era is: maggie and glenn's characters are all about their romance (specifically from s2 to s4 i think). and i agree! i've always liked maggie but this is why i wasn't super invested in her character early on. the problem is when people say "maggie drags glenn down". but not the other way around? it's like they only see her as glenn's love interest, while glenn is a character on his own and he can't have more interesting storylines because he's stuck in this romance (a romance most fans love btw that's not the problem). i guess this is because glenn was introduced first and existed in the story before maggie but like. that was like 6 eps and it's not like he was getting a crazy character arc.

so yeah, it does feel like misogyny when someone blames maggie for this when it's a problem for both characters.

now, post s6 is where most of the maggie hate comes from, and they have plenty of reasons to dislike her, or her arc (and i disagree with most of them):

- "maggie isn't/doesn't deserve to be a leader, maggie's leader arc feels forced": okay this one is genuinely baffling to me because i love this arc. it starts in s7 (arguably 5b, i'd say maggie becoming deanna's counselor is the actual beginning), and that's important because s7-8 are generally agreed upon to be not well-written. in fact, most of my faves from prior seasons get the short stick during this era imo: rick, carol, daryl. that's why maggie was such a highlight to me; i was so invested in her rise to leadership in hilltop. it made complete sense to me because she started getting a more "political" role in 5b, and she was the one who made the deal with gregory in s6, and saw his incompetence first hand. it was not only compelling, but very natural for her character. it also makes sense with the trajectory the rest of the group was taking: once they get to alexandria, several of them start to get placed, or put themselves in, positions of power. it happens with rick, glenn, and abraham. but maggie is the one that feels forced and undeserving... why?

- "maggie is nothing but a widow after 7x01/maggie's character becomes all about negan": obviously i don't see the logic in this statement because she becomes the leader of a community in this era? she cares about people, she makes hilltop a better place, she calls out gregory's bullshit and gives him so many opportunities he doesn't even deserve. she does what needs to be done, but still listens to the people she loves. not once, in all of s7, does maggie mention negan or her need to take revenge. she bonds with sasha over their shared grief (something they'd already done in 5b, the arc that keeps on giving, but their dynamic started in 4b!), and sasha and enid take care of her; she befriends jesus, and he becomes instantly loyal to her because he sees all her qualities; he knows what an incompetent leader is like, and knows that maggie is perfect for the position. maggie never stops mourning, but all of these relationships aren't about glenn or negan. but no one cares about them enough to remember or appreciate them i guess ://

- "maggie betrayed rick": this is actually so stupid and definitely one of those instances when people hate on character for disagreeing with/going against their favourite character. rick was wrong when he spared negan. he was wrong for deciding that on his own, for not consulting anyone, for disregarding the feelings of maggie and daryl and everyone else negan had hurt. and rick did for selfish reasons! he wanted to honour carl, and so he betrayed his friends and he acted like that was the only choice. like what he wanted was what mattered. maggie (and daryl) had every right to go behind his back and try to kill negan. rick didn't respect her wishes, didn't keep his word after he said he wouldn't stop until negan was dead, so why should she obey him? it's crazy that there are people who feel that way. if carl had died during the line up, maggie would never have stopped him from taking revenge, even if for some reason glenn believed that to be right. it was an awful thing to do to her, right when she thought she could finally end it and find some peace of mind. team maggie and daryl for life dpmo!!!

related to that, maggie was also right about not wanting to follow the rules rick and michonne were planning to establish, and doing what she felt was best for her people. she was right when she didn't want to give food to the saviors, she was right when she suspected them, she was right when she let the oceanside women execute arat. no one has ever been more right in the history of television.

and this is kinda related too, but i've seen michonne fans boast about michonne always being calm and collected and always making the right decisions (which is not true, thankfully michonne is more complex than that). i bring it up because unfortunately i often see twd fans use their love for a female character to insult the other women in the show. which is really tragic, but in this case i also can't see why that's something to boast about. i like that maggie is angry and resentful, i like that she makes mistakes and irrational choices because of that anger and grief. i like that she doesn't let go of all those messy feelings in order to be calm and therefore more palatable. yes, fans call her whiny and say she should just move on, get over it (fucked up if you see what she went through, but whatever). but i don't want that. female characters are always expected to get over things quickly, to deal with their problems quietly, because if they don't they're whiny and annoying and insufferable. if they make bad decisions they're useless, they're getting people killed. male characters are allowed to have those ugly feelings, to snap, to be cruel and violent because they're hurting. that makes them more compelling, more layered. but not female characters, not maggie. sure, fans also blame daryl for his impulsive behaviour, but that doesn't stop him from being the most popular character. maggie has many moments when she's super cool (when she makes the deal with hilltop, when she hangs gregory) but those are never hyped like every single small moment when a man is a badass. or when they do the bare minimum tbh, people don't need much to stan a male character.

tl;dr: i absolutely adore maggie, and the fact that she has the best arc during the worst part of the show made me so invested in her story. all the hate she gets, and the reasons people give to justify hating her, are completely nonsensical to me. "we didn't watch the same show" levels of nonsense. i sincerely hope she's as unbearable as everyone says she is when she comes back. i hope she's nasty and i will love her even more for it!

Ramo While the show had its strong sides (up til like mid- season 1 and lbr, the main strong side is murat in various suits lmao, mainly black), s2 is not great and the finale is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE Spartacus I dropped the show after s1 because the actor they replaced Andy Whitfield (may God rest his soul) with, didn't fit the type at all and i couldn't continue. Andy set the bar too high. I have nothing against the actor tho, that's just not his role

Arrow This show is simply stupid for me as a disabled person specifically, because it didn't have the accurate representation of disabled ppl, or at least somewhat BELIVABLE representation. And i'm referring to Felicity gettng paralyzed from the waist down (for like what, 2 episodes?) arch. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT. Even in the show that's kind of scifi-ish. Also, Stephen Amell deserved better. The only character i really liked was Thea, and i dropped it and i don't regret it

Raised by wolves Marcus's not another 'Ragnar'. i actually think Travis Fimmel did a pretty good job, and i think he's a very solid and belivable actor. just watch Dreamland with him and Margot(Robbie). it's worth it. trust me. It's an excelent drama. And Travis can be even better when he truly tries. Also, there could be so much more to the show so fuck HBO for cancelling it Once upon a time s7 was absolutely unnecessary and s6 had the perfect wrap up for the show
