"Dude, what the fuck is your problem? You've been all weird and mopey the entire video." Nick asks from the backseat as he pulls out a box of donuts, partially for him, but partially to hopefully cheer Chris up.

"Oh nothing." Chris mumbles, crossing his arms as he pouts.

Matt raises his eyebrows in question, shaking his head as he sighs.

"Come on, Chris. What's going on?" Matt asks, his tone softer than Nicks abrasive and abrupt one.

"Guys, it's nothing." Chris huffs, looking out the window.

His phone buzzes and he moves faster than his brothers had ever seen him move in their lives. It was the most excited he seemed during this video until he saw the notification and frowned and dramatically throws his phone to the floor.

"Alright bud, we are going to talk about this. What's going on?" Matt demands.

"I miss my mamas!" Chris cries dramatically.

He genuinely was upset, his eyes watering as he looked away. He felt like a baby right now. He just missed you, his girlfriend of two years. You both had grown so close to the point you saw each other every day. You practically lived with the triplets. But, you told Chris you needed to handle some stuff and do a bit of traveling to see family. He assumed it'd be a few days, but it's been two weeks.

To make matters worse, the time zones were different so texting and calling was almost impossible. The most he got from you was "good morning" or "goodnight, I love you baby!"

Matt frowns, realizing how upset his brother truly was. Nick was laughing over the nickname he had for you, not realizing he was genuinely upset. Matt pulls Chris into a hug and Nick stops laughing as he realized that Chris was indeed upset.

"Hey, she'll be back soon." Nick says softly, trying to cheer him up.

"She said a few days. It's been two fucking weeks. We haven't been apart this long in forever." Chris says, genuinely upset.

Matt reaches forward to turn the camera off. He hated seeing his brother so upset. It wasn't like him to get upset. He was always the most energetic, the happiest and goofiest of the three of them.

"Have a donut, you'll feel better." Nick urges.

"I don't want a fucking donut. I want to see my girlfriend." Chris huffs, turning away from his brothers.

Matt looks at Nick who nods after shoving his donut in his mouth as he looked at his phone. Matt started the car, driving back to their house.

Chris was the first out of the car, storming into the house before slowing as the lights were on when they weren't on when they left. He heard shuffling and moving around as both Matt and Nick walk in. You poke your head around the corner, confused as you thought you had more time.

"Mamas?" Chris mumbles in surprise.

"He got upset. Sorry, we couldn't stall any longer." Matt says, sending an apologetic smile to you.

"It's alright. Come here, bubs. I wanted to surprise you when I got back." You say, opening your arms in which he wasted no time getting to you.

"I thought you wouldn't be back for my birthday." He mumbles, thinking about tomorrow.

"Hey! There's us too!" Nick grumbles.

"She's my girlfriend." Chris argues.

"Alright, alright, I'm right here, bubs. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. In fact, that was part of the reason why I was gone a bit longer than expected. I was getting your guys' presents. Had to be picked up, not shipped." You explain.

"You got us a present too?" Nick asks.

"Well duh! You two are like my brothers. You guys are such dummy's sometimes. I love you two to death and I missed you guys a bunch!" You say, leaving Chris's hold to hug both Matt and Nick.

"You didn't have to get us anything." Matt says, his cheeks flushed red.

"Uh, yeah I did. I've got the coolest presents. Anyhow, dinner should be about done. I set a movie up for us all to watch and set up the couches for us." You explain, turning to make your way to the kitchen.

Chris followed like a lost puppy and Nick and Matt said they'd grab the drinks after they change. Chris wraps his arms around your waist, burying his face into your neck. You lean back against him as you continue to make plates.

"You can't ever leave me that long again, ma." He mumbles.

"I don't think I can...I felt like I was going to lose it after two days. It was the hardest two weeks of my life. If I ever got to go that long again, I'm bringing you with me." You admit, your cheeks flushing red at your confession.

"Thank god...we hardly texted and called. I know it was different time zones...but I was really scared we were drifting apart." He admits quietly.

You turn, wrapping your arms around his neck as you look up at him with furrowed brows, pouty lips and glossy eyes. His hands settle on your hips.

"Chris, I don't think I could ever drift apart from you. Those two weeks were brutal...but it made me realize how much I truly love you—not that I didn't know it before, but that entire time I thought of you. I couldn't not think of you. I would see things and would be like, Chris would love this. I wanted to call and text, but I know you and the boys have been busy. I didn't want to interrupt your guys’ work. But, I realize how much I love that we are constantly near each other. Some may call us clingy, but I love whatever it is we have. I feel so content, happy and safe with you and I wouldn't have it any other way." You murmur.

"I missed you so much, mamas." He murmurs, leaning down and kissing you softly.

"We are coming in! Be clothed!" Nick yells.

You pull apart from the kiss, chuckling as you pull Chris into a tight hug. He laughs, holding you closer to him.

"I miss you too. I promise I won't ever leave that long again and if I do, you're coming with me." You murmur.

"What about me?" Nick asks with a pout.

"You're such an attention seeking whore." Matt says, rolling his eyes.

"Okay! Matt's arrived! Here we go with the fucking Mattitude." Nick says, staring at Matt with surprise.

"I'd bring you two with me too, but you guys would be in the backseat. Chris would be in the front with me." You say with a soft smile.

"He called me an attention seeking whore." Nick grumbles as he helps grab drinks as you and Chris grab plates.

"You two need to be nicer to each other." You laugh softly, leading the way to the living room and setting plates down.

"He started it!" He pouts.

"Dear god." Chris mumbles.

"They were having a moment, idiot! It was cute!" Matt exclaims.

"Guys, it's okay. Chris and I don't mind. We were about to bring the plates in anyway. There's no need to get upset." You say softly.

You take Chris's hand before he could say something to go against your words. He squeezes your hand before pulling you to your guys' favorite couch.

This is so VERY obviously not a ship war. And you’ve been called—what?—homophobic, racist, sexist?

I know that buddie-stans have also been called out for calling black women “sassy,” for using the mammy trope in your writing, for hypersexualizing Eddie, for harassing the actresses who played previous LIs with misogynistic hate, for writing character-bashing that relies on misogyny, and for NEVER calling this out. Oooooooh I love this question!! BSD hot takes are my specialty so I’m just gonna rapid fire some with zero elaboration

• Saying that Dazai hasn’t changed is a fundamental misunderstanding of his character, as well as the major themes of the manga. This shouldn’t even be a subject that’s up for debate

• As for ships, I temporarily really disliked Soukoku but it’s grown on me again. I think my most controversial shipping takes would be that I really dislike FukuMori and Atsulucy

• I wish people talked about the Hunting Dogs more!! Like their actual characters, not just simping or ships (not that there’s anything wrong with those things ofc). Jouno specifically is soooooooo interesting to me

• Dazai being suicidal is another subject that shouldn’t be up for debate. Saying he’s not because “his attempts always fail” or “he wants to live” is a horrific misunderstanding of how suicide ideation works

• The reason Atsushi doesn’t feel like the protagonist is because most of the light novel content focuses on the supporting cast, which then gets integrated into the show and gives Dazai more screen time. Reading the manga by itself, Atsushi actually has quite a bit of screen time and development. There are also two light novels focused on him so like,,,yeah

• I’m sorry but it will always be WEIRD to me how many fans switched up on Mori when Yosano’s backstory got animated. It’s fine to like him ofc but why are ppl allergic to focusing on the female characters

• The plot is very straightforward ya’ll it’s like one of the most basic plot structures of all time. Stop acting like it’s impossible to comprehend

• I so desperately wish we got more focus on Gin. What we have on her is already so compelling and I would love for Asagiri to flesh her out more

• “Dazai leaving the mafia was a good thing that ultimately saved his life” and “It is rational that Chuuya would be upset over his partner abandoning him with no explanation” are two sentiments that can and should coexist

• Not really a hot take but the Buraiha Trio is my favorite dynamic in the series. I need an entire spin off that’s just them meeting up at Bar Lupin except nothing bad ever happens

• Oda’s death scene is one of the most impactful moments from anything I’ve ever watched or read. It genuinely changed my outlook on life

• And on that note, The Dark Era is my favorite thing to come out of BSD

• It shouldn’t be controversial to say that Dazai was abused by Mori. Not physical or sexual like a lot of fans suggest but child endangerment and manipulation are definitely at play here. Mori’s actions in the Dark Era should be considered an act of abuse on their own

• I don’t care much for The Guild as a whole but the individual characters are super compelling!! Fitzgerald’s comeback is one of my favorite parts of the series and I absolutely adore Louisa, Lucy, Poe, Margaret, and Mark. I hate Nathaniel tho

• I do believe that Ranpo is autistic coded due to Untold Origins, however a lot of fans get very stereotypical and weird with that headcanon. I don’t see that as often now as I used to but it’s still a thing to some degree

• Most fans only look at half of Dazai and Akutagawa’s arc together and completely ignore how it was pointed out to us that Dazai is trying to show Aku the light and make him stronger by pairing him up with Atsushi. He hasn’t stopped training him, he’s just doing so from a distance now because he’s aware he caused Aku a lot of trauma. Not saying their dynamic is entirely positive, but it has changed. There was a whole chapter to point this out!! But people exclusively look at every scene with them through a negative light and it leads to the fandom undermining the development we see from both of them

• Oh and btw, Akutagawa and Atsushi’s partnership is amazing. I’m a big AtsuAku shipper but setting romance aside completely, I love seeing their characters interact. Their banter is so funny and omg the mutual respect between them??? The parallels between their arcs??? The way they help each other grow??? Absolutely fantastic, Asagiri ate with that. I must confess I like them way more then Dazai and Chuuya as a duo

• All these male partnership duos and not a single one for the women, c’mon Asagiri😔 Give us a toxic lesbian pair (I would say Higugin but technically Gin’s partner is Tachihara so they don’t count)

• Kyouka is easily the most underrated character in the series. She’s incredibly well-written and, not to mention, one of the main characters. We see her more than Chuuya and Poe but do people talk about her more than Chuuya and Poe??? No, my baby gets ignored. Sad times we’re living in

• I do believe in the whole “abuse cycle/web” concept, however there is also a healing cycle that is far more important to the story and I hate seeing fans overlook that

• Dazai’s talk with Kyouka at the end of The Guild arc is one of my absolute favorite scenes from the manga and I wish people talked about it more

• Fans joke a lot about Atsushi calling Dazai a good person but I do genuinely believe Asagiri wants us to think of him that way. He is morally gray for sure, but currently he is dedicating his life to saving others, therefore most people in-universe would consider him good. His past actions don’t matter to the every day people he saves on a daily basis. Imo this line was an attempt to challenge what we generally consider to be a “good” person

• To elaborate on that, it directly parallels the scene at the beginning of Dead Apple where Atsushi points out that Dazai is visiting a grave. “Do I look like someone visiting a grave to you?” “Yeah, you do” / “Do I look like a good person to you?” “Yeah, you do.” Atsushi was right the first time, so I believe he was intended to be right the second was well. Why else call back to it???

• Tbh it is objectively hilarious that Dazai doubts himself being a good person directly after saving the city. I understand why but like…sir, cut yourself some slack

• I think the fanon family dynamics are super cute but people should be able to acknowledge that a lot of them aren’t canon (besides, like, Fukuzawa and Ranpo or Bram and Aya). Ranpo and Yosano’s canon relationship is best friends, you can absolutely view them as siblings but don’t treat it like a canon fact

• Yk that post that said “Who the hell gets into bsd and looks for a healthy ship?? Take your sensitive ass back to Haikyuu” ? Yeah. I second that

• Fyodor is probably my favorite antagonist, the chapter with him and Ace is one of my favorites. He’s a good parallel for Dazai and I just love his whole aesthetic. I love the Decay of Angels as a whole, all of them. I’ll also note that his fans seem to understand the manga very well so shoutout Fyodor fans

• Tachihara has an amazing character arc and I hate that the anime cut it out

• Higuchi is so…ugh I love her to death. Her character is the perfect mix of comic relief and tragedy. I once saw someone point out that it’s nice how Asagiri is able to use her for humor without making the jokes misogynistic and I fully agree (although I do have some qualms abt Aku hitting her being used as a joke in that one bonus page). And her finding her place in the mafia, realizing how important she is to the people who work for her???? I adore her, I hope she gets a satisfying ending

• Higugin has so much potential to be explored in fanon and I hate how they always get reduced to the token fluffy wlw ship or how some ppl only like them for the aesthetic. Give me angst!!! Give me toxic doomed yuri!!! Or give me death!!!

• I really like Fukuzawa’s backstory and want to see more of it

• I’ve seen a lot of interesting headcanons for Dazai’s mental health status, and a lot of them feel realistic, but personally I think he’s very obviously intended to have MDD. Nothing wrong with other headcanons ofc, I’ve written him many different ways, but I think since a lot of people downplay the severity of depression, they overlook that option when trying to psychoanalyze severely mentally ill characters

• The light novels have some of the best bsd content and more fans should read them

• I don’t like the “all lesbians love Chuuya” jokes because I am a lesbian and I’m not down bad for him. Do I love him?? Yes. But not in a simp way. He’s more like my gay brother

• Speaking of which- I do really like the gay hc for Chuuya and the bi hc for Dazai but I wish fans weren’t so afraid to step out of the established box!! Nothing is fully confirmed guys, we can headcanon them as whatever we want. Let’s get creative with it

• I wish more fans humanized Yosano the way they do with the male characters. We see from her backstory how much being out on a pedestal hurt her and so it just seems weird that she’s upheld as this flawless girlboss. Yes, she’s a totally badass and a hottie and I love that but there is so much more to her. She has her weak moments just like every other character, and she has such an incredible arc

• On that note I hope everybody who told me Mori is more interesting than her dies in a fire (I’m joking) (ik how Mori fans like to tussle)

• I happen to really like both the Tanizaki siblings. Actually that’s a lie I used to hate Junichirou. I can’t remember why, I think I just found him annoying. No idea what my current opinion is but now I feel kinda bad for hating him so I’ll say I like him now

• Idk why ppl get so pissed when you suggest that Dazai self-harms like. Okay fine ik it’s not fully confirmed that that’s what the bandages are for. But let’s use our brains for a second…

IZZY'S PERSONAL INTERPRETATIONS ON GI-HUN AND IN-HO’S DYNAMIC

some friends encouraged me to finally post this long essay, so here i am!

some pre-post notes:

this is NOT an inhun analysis. the admin of this post does not like inhun whatsoever, nor do they feel the need to be "swayed" into liking inhun. this is just a non-romantic/non-sexual exploration of in-ho and gi-hun's dynamic, brushing past the surface.

however, this is also not an inhun hate post or an attack on those who do ship them. people are entitled to their own opinions, this just happens to be mine, as well as the select people who beta read this analysis post LOL

without further ado, let's get into things.

i think gi-hun confuses in-ho. and not in the “wow i’m gay for him haha” way everybody thinks.

gi-hun makes in-ho question his morals and person, to say the least. he’s confused, and likely angry about that fact. he manipulates gi-hun as young-il to show him the way the world works, and prove him wrong. i also feel like, like il-nam, he would take his beliefs to the grave. it’s just like. when you’re religious for the longest time and confirmation bias the shit out of that until suddenly all those beliefs are being refuted by somebody. that’s probably where the “slightly rooting for him” thing came from as well

but at the same time, in-ho still has anger and likely some sort of envy towards gi-hun — he is the thing in-ho is not morally. and gi-hun is breaking the system set up and breaking his cynical beliefs. so yes, despite what inhun fans think, i do really think he does want to see gi-hun suffer.

but no matter what, even if gi-hun were to show sympathy for in-ho despite his heinous crimes, i do not think in-ho will be fully forgiven, nor do i think he deserves forgiveness. he still has/had autonomy. his trauma can be an explanation, but never an excuse.

not to mention, we forget in-ho was previously a police officer. what do police officers do? guys.. acab.. come on.. i refuse to believe in-ho was fully a good person before the games. until there is genuine concrete canonical proof, i cannot believe it. did he have good qualities? yes. everybody has good and bad qualities. but i also believe he developed a lot of cynicism and moral disengagement over the years, and the games later solidified that.

when he’s playing as young-il, he’s trying to play god, and show gi-hun reality. he does this in many ways – puts their lives on the line during the six-legged pentathlon, uses his words in ways to make gi-hun fall down a pit of questioning, etc. but gi-hun never breaks! and this confuses the shit out of in-ho.

i do firmly believe in-ho is a bad person beyond redemption. nothing can excuse the thousands of deaths he oversaw willingly. unless we somehow find out he’s being forced or coerced into this, which is highly unlikely considering his genuine beliefs on humanity, it is made evident that in-ho is willingly doing this.

at the end of the day, he still did the things he did. he still toyed with lives, and oversaw the deaths and displacement of thousands. he believes he’s doing the right thing, but does that really justify any of it? it does not.

another thing i want to say. i believe gi-hun would give in-ho mercy, not forgiveness. gi-hun is a good person. but he is not naive. he is strongly set on his morals and has been affected deeply by the games set up, and would likely show in-ho mercy without absolution. he never forgave il-nam, did he? (i know it’s not exactly the same since il-nam set the games up but in-ho is still endorsing them!! he still has autonomy despite what people will say. that’s why i said mercy.)

“but izzy,, he forgave sang-woo!”

and this is where i diverge from the topic for a moment.

sang-woo and gi-hun had a past. gi-hun knew sang-woo in ways he didn’t know in-ho or other people. also, there’s no way gi-hun would have immediately forgiven sang-woo. like i said, he is very strongly set on his morals. gi-hun would forgive sang-woo at some point because he knows sang-woo, and he knows the kid in sang-woo that wouldn’t have done this. they had a strong connection. also also.. sang-woo is a victim of the games. it’s not like he had a choice; he was just trying to survive, as was everybody in the games.

season 2 gi-hun has also learned that the players are not at fault. i think that notion would help him show more forgiveness for sang-woo. while yes, he KNOWS killing is wrong, i think s2 gi-hun has definitely realized more that they are the victims, not the ones to blame, the GAME MASTERS are (cough IN-HO). therefore, i think while gi-hun didn't forgive sang-woo right off the bat, his development, along with his genuine CARE for him would have. anybody who denies they care for each other is just pure wrong. while s1 gi-hun was fighting for himself and his mother, and FOR THE MONEY, s2 gi-hun is fighting for the players as a whole. that sentiment definitely set in after the limo scene AND il-nam and his final interaction!!

this is also why the in-ho to sang-woo pipeline comparison doesn’t sit 100% well with me. they have similarities, of course, and they’ve both done questionable things. they also have both challenged gi-hun’s morals. but sang-woo’s actions CANNOT compare to the extremity of in-ho’s situation. people may deny it as much as they want, but in-ho is fucked. up. as stated earlier, trauma is not an excuse for that. sang-woo was thrown into a situation that, might i add, in-ho assisted in. gi-hun is sympathetic of the players, seeing them as the victims in this situation. and YES i KNOW in-ho was a player so don’t jump on my dick with that argument. VOLITIONAL AUTONOMY is key here. gi-hun would physically not be able to understand why in-ho turned out the way he did.

now, about gi-hun’s feelings on young-il… i don’t think he has more feelings for young-il as opposed to the other players. “young-il” made himself more visible to gi-hun intentionally, and did what he could to get closer to him, which does make it kind of impossible to ignore somebody like that. i don’t think gi-hun was more drawn to young-il. as we’ve said before, young-il made himself appear more. when somebody is in your proximity, you think about them more. also, as i’ve said before, “young-il” had a child and a wife at home!! gi-hun likely feels a lot of responsibility and sympathy. and we see this with jun-hee, too. it doesn’t feel like the same “if you die I will feel empty inside because i'd miss your company” we see with jung-bae or sang-woo. to me, it reads more as the guilt and general sympathy that this man has a wife and an unborn child that he has the possibility of losing. young-il just made those feel more personal by getting close to gi-hun and, yes, manipulating him.

in conclusion, in-ho and gi-hun have a very compelling dynamic that to me personally gets ruined when romance comes into play. people are entitled to their own opinions but the general mischaracterization of in-ho pisses me off and i really don’t see them working out in a romantic sense whatsoever.

Yes maddie is under the age of consent, here are plenty of screenshots to back that up. If you genuinely thought that she wasn’t, its alright I’m not hating on you but she is under the age of consent and it IS statutory 🍇. I fucking hate JD and I think I figured out why.

JD is so clearly the villain, especially in the movie. In the movie he kills Chandler basically just because since from what we know JD didn’t know what happened at the party and even if he did it wasn’t even close to being a valid reason to kill someone, then he kills Kurt and Ram which I can justify their deaths since they were rapists, but then he also tries to sexually assault Veronica so clearly he doesn’t give a shit about what they actually did then he tried to blow up the school with everyone inside because “nobody loves me” or whatever cringe ass thing he said. JD is so clearly the bad guy, but then the musical makes him out to be a misunderstood antihero or even straight up hero.

I love the musical, but Jesus Christ. I am a huge Chandler fan, so I give her more empathy and thought then the other characters, but we need to keep in mind that Chandler is a 16 year old (maybe 17 in the musical) who was given power way too early in her life, possibly when she was in elementary or middle school, and she’s been sexually abused by older men. She’s 16, she’s going to make shitty choices including “threatening” to ruin Veronica’s social life, but chances are she didn’t mean it. In Chandler’s character notes she’s described as being obsessed or having a girl crush on Veronica, so it’s easy to assume that she was bluffing at least to an extent. Chandler was a normal girl, given too much power and has been abused. JD just moved around a lot and saw his mom die. Not to say it wasn’t traumatic, because it very much was, but that doesn’t at all justify him murdering others.

In the musical he’s seen as misunderstood and his dad is written as a worse guy. I fucking hate this. Turning JD into a “good guy” even when he still murders children is romanticizing male violence. It’s romanticizing and sexualizing violence and saying “well if you’re misunderstood then it’s fine”. And people who are huge JD stans will claim they wish they were in Veronica’s shoes because he’s hot or whatever, but in both the movie and the musical he tries to kill her! JD’s entire character in the musical is a total insult to his movie’s character. He’s not a good person. Yes, he’s attractive, and the fact that people are romanticizing and sexualizing him even after he murdered kids and tried to rape Veronica shows why some men continue to act that way. People who romanticize JD’s character is why so many men think women are just playing hard to get when they’re actually very scared of the man.

It’s not hot. It’s not cute. Murder and rape is NOT hot or cute. If JD is your favorite character because you like the way he’s written, then that’s valid. But if he’s your favorite character because he’s hot and you wish he did all that stuff to you then you’re part of the problem and you need help. It’s not ok to claim he’s some hero when he’s literally the villain, especially when you then go claim that Chandler is a piece of shit or ship JDronica then claim Chansaw sucks and is toxic. I genuinely believe that part of the reason some people hate Chandler is due to misogyny and sexism

Hey so this is quite random but remember when akutagawa thought he'd finally killed/beaten atsushi in their battle on that cargo ship in s1? In the manga after Akutagawa's anger has finally calmed down he, with a sorrowful expression on his face, wonders, "what killing him does anything good for me?" Later in the guild arc we see him making killing atsushi his final goal though he does say killing him a hundred times won't give him any satisfaction in rage. In 55 minutes ( we can assume it happens after the guild arc and before the cannibalism arc) akutagawa confirms that he doesn't hate Atsushi but he just can't simply move forward unless he tears him apart. Which is made more complicated when Atsushi realizes akutagawa had a sorrowful expression when he (aku) cut his (atsu's) throat. Showing the duality of Akutagawa's words and heart.This duality becomes more prominent when Fukuchi asks akutagawa if atsu's life is that much important to him. You can literally see the expression of shock and realization on his face. Also point to be noted he didn't answer the question. So my question to you is, when did his feelings start to change? when did he start to associate atsu's death as his primary goal? When did he realize he didn't actually want that? I'd love to hear your interpretations!

I think that when Fukuchi asked him "is his life that precious to you?" it was definitely when he genuinely realized how much he cared about Atsushi and Atsushi's life. And another thing is, I don't think Akutagawa died to save Atsushi because Dazai ordered him to, I think he did it simply just because he wanted to save Atsushi and would give up his life for that. Dazai did say "you know the reason yourself don't you?" when Dazai claimed that Akutagawa would save Atsushi, so I think Dazai is aware of how much Akutagawa actually values Atsushi, but in his usual Dazai manner, he didn't give Akutagawa any answers

But I think Akutagawa started caring for Atsushi before the fight with Fukuchi. I personally think that ever since they've met, Akutagawa has been enamored of sorts with Atsushi. His eyes lit up and he said "that's more like it" when Atsushi transformed in front of him when they first met, and this was before he learned Atsushi was Dazai's new subordinate

I don't think Akutagawa's ever hated Atsushi for WHO he is, he even said "I only hated you for your good fortune". He was envious, but never hated Atsushi as a person

(on a side note, it's clear that they get along in a non hostile environment from reading BEAST. They get along flawlessly so you can't say they're not compatible, in a domestic setting they are. And that's why I personally think they make the perfect couple and should get married)

I think Akutagawa's first feelings towards Atsushi were very conflicted. I think he admired Atsushi's strength but also hated it. Their fight on the cargo ship with Kyouka probably didn't change much, but Akutagawa inevitably learned more about Atsushi through that fight, and also how he valued Atsushi's life

On the Moby Dick fighting against Francis is when I think Akutagawa's feelings shifted from a type of animosity to more of...a connection. I think on the Moby Dick is when Akutagawa's character started to be intertwined with Atsushi more. They fought together instead of against each other (although they also still fought each other) and I think that made Akutagawa's perspective really change, where he started to respect Atsushi

The cannibalism arc, in my opinion, is when Akutagawa fell in love with Atsushi. (I know Sskk isn't canon LMAO but let a girl have her delusions<3). Okay, on a canon note, it's not that he fell in love (🤞) but I think Sskk's relationship GREATLY changed within the cannibalism arc (more people need to talk about it I swear)

Atsushi and Akutagawa had a talk about why Atsushi "saves people even though he's a coward" (to loosely quote Akutagawa), and Atsushi said because it was the right thing to do. But what he didn't say was that he was selfish and saved others to have a reason to live, he only thought that with a flashback to his orphanage. But later on, Atsushi says to Akutagawa "you already know the answer" after Akutagawa asks him why he saves people again. That really goes to show how much they understand each other without words, because Akutagawa does know

I think this really strengthened their understanding of each other

Also Pushkin shoots at Akutagawa and Atsushi pushes him out of the way right after they have that conversation, so that shows character development. I know you can technically argue "well it's Atsushi of course he'd push his teammate out of harm's way" but Atsushi knows how strong Akutagawa is and his capability with Rashomon, he could probably block that bullet. Yet, despite that, he's still scared Akutagawa's going to get shot and get hurt, so he pushed him to the ground anyway. Because he cared

Also in their fight against Ivan, it's the first time they use Kokko Zessou/Kokuto Zessou (I can never remember the spelling but it's just Beast Beneath the Moonlight x Rashomon). It's when they stop bickering and work together, it's when they put innate and unwavering trust in each other

A thing about Shin Soukoku is that a lot of their relationship goes unspoken. Because they don't need the words. And their trust is something that's not said with words, yet it's quite clearly there

So back to core question of this ask, I think Akutagawa's feelings started to change ever since the Moby Dick. I think he realized how changed they were after the fight against Ivan, and I think alongside his realization that he trusted Atsushi and genuinely cared about him, he realized he couldn't break the promise he and Atsushi had made

Also, regarding the six months deal, I have so many questions for how that's going to go down. Akutagawa can't kill Atsushi. Atsushi can't kill Akutagawa. I wonder how Asagiri is going to write that

And the only real reason why Akutagawa ever wanted to kill Atsushi was because of Dazai and Dazai's validation. If he proves himself to Dazai and defeats the weretiger, he'll finally get recognition. But now, Akutagawa doesn't seem to need Dazai's validation, regarding chapter 123. I really don't think there's any point for the six months deal to actually happen, but Asagiri might use it as a manoeuver to be able to let Akutagawa and Atsushi talk together

And oh my GOD chapter 123. And 122. The path of Akutagawa's feelings towards Atsushi is definitely long and sort of up to interpretation with some bits, but in the latest chapters, we know how his feelings have ended up

The past few chapters have had a lot of Akutagawa introspection and development, and it's honestly so interesting to finally see what he actually thinks of Atsushi. It's far from hate at this point, and what his feelings for Atsushi were along the way are definitely something complex

His feelings now are...well there's a lot to comb through. He cares about Atsushi, Atsushi is his reason to live, he'd do anything to get Atsushi back, he's dealing with the loss of Atsushi...

First Impression: I think almost everyone has the same experience with this one: when you first watch the show you don't really register him for the first five episodes or so and then you either love him or are very much neutral about him. I vaguely remember the scene where he's standing next to Jopson looking like a kicked dog while Crozier yells at him and I think that's when I took note of him like "ohh poor boy let me give you a hug :(" I really fell for him in the second half of the season (first mainly bc hes pretty. Im a simple woman sometimes and im not afraid to admit it) and I cannot stress this enough how much the last scene where Crozier finds him half frozen with the chains on his face has altered my brain chemistry. That was the fr the point where I was like "okay so I'll never be normal again EVER huh"

Impression Now: I love him. I love him so so much on so many layers. For one I need him biblically bc I believe I can fix his ass and his sad energy and big cow eyes have bewitched me body and soul. Matthew McNulty was born to sport mutton chops and look increasingly disheveled while on a death march in the canadian arctic. But I can't put into words how much I relate to him. I am him, he is me. Genuinely if I was put on that stupid expedition in his place I would've made all the same (bad) decisions. I can literally name two other characters in media I relate to and those are Kat from Euphoria (only the first season version and I think if I watched the show now I would throw her off this list) and Connel from Normal People (him just,, big time). They just don't make characters that messy, pathetic and sad very often!! Or I'm not watching enough tv to find them but when I saw Ned throughout the season I was like "wow I relate to him so much and idk what that says about me". I feel like I went on a tangent there but I love him he is such a dear. He tried so so hard to do right and keep things under control bc he hates chaos but he was just so overwhelmed and had to deal with Croziers shit for way too long (I'm trying to sound smart rn bc people have very nuanced but sometimes also kinda weird takes on his character. Believe me I see him as more than sad wet puppy man but I don't have the words in the english language to express that)

Favorite Moment: Any scene he's in ever? Duh?? No but if I had to pick one I'd say the dundy intervention when he finally tries to put a foot down to rescue Crozier but they all just dismiss him. The way his eyes water. I. Mmh. I think I'm obligated to name his last scene as well bc that one makes me cry everytime even if I just see a gif of it, it's just so haunting and so so sad

Idea For A Story: Oh. Uhmmmmm. I'm really not a writer so I can't come up with anything cool on top of my head except let Ned be happy and comfy and warm. Tuck him into bed and give him soup. That's all

Unpopular Opinion: I can't really tell what's an unpopular opinion bc I've seen basically every take ever on him from "he is a pushover how did he even get his job" to "he's actually a meanie with big time anger issues" so. Maybe that I think he would've been a good lieutenant with a different captain on a more chill cruise. He'd do very well keeping order and the respect of the crew if he didn't have to be the doormat and errands boy for his alcoholic captain while starving in the arctic. I'd dare say 99.9% of life on a ship was more chill than the franklin expedition so maybe he wasn't the best lieutenant ever but he would've done a good job if the stakes weren't THAT high

Favorite Relationship: Started as a Joplittle stan, became a Sojoplittle truther and now my favorite is Solittle. I love my two dog boys, I love how they parallel each other (they were narrative foils your honor). But honestly anything goes, everyone deserves a bite out of nedward <3

Favorite Headcanon: That animals love him. Saw that on my feed a few days ago and yeah, agreed. He's definitely a cat person and they just flock towards him (extended hc that jirv loves animals so so much but they just hate him for some reason. So when the ships cat sneaks in during meetings jirv tries to get her to come towards him but the cat's like "ew no church boy" and jumps into Ned's lap who pets her but also prays he won't get yelled at by Crozier for this)

Your first official day on the job as Hux's personal assistant was rough... to say the least. Armed with nothing but your access badge and a vague idea of what these rounds should entail, you fumbled through the entire ordeal, starting by getting lost trying to locate each department's headquarters and ending on sour notes with each of the department heads, half of whom didn't believe Hux had a new assistant already, and the other half clearly fearing the man too much to give any honest or genuine answers. Either way, you didn't have any information worth putting into a report, and your fears of being the next assistant in an apparently long line of failures seemed that much closer to coming true.

And so that's how you ended up in a supply closet at one in the morning with your best friend.

You were still upset with her, of course, but you needed to be with a familiar face. Hear a familiar voice. Preferably one that didn't recite some fake platitudes or snidely dismiss you. Nat may have been a little insane, bringing you here, but you knew she still cared. In her own way.

"Fuck them," she said. You leaned against shelves on opposite walls of the only private space you could find on short notice, a supply closet down the hall from the maintenance bunks. Both of your arms were crossed, the one sign there was any lingering beef between you.

"Fuck all of these motherfuckers," she kept going. "Fuck General Hux, fuck the interrogation droids, fuck that technician prick who stole my socks this morning..."

"Fuck Sergeant Beloch?" you asked with a knowing look.

"Not yet," Nat threw back a salacious smirk.

You didn't have the energy to roll your eyes but your face must have still shown your lack of amusement.

"Hey, I really mean it. Fuck 'em all."

You made yourself swallow and choose your next words carefully. "Interesting perspective to have, given the fact you chose to come here."

Nat was silent. Her eyes were trained in your direction but you could tell she wasn't really looking at you. She was lost in her own head, a place she hated being in but couldn't help traveling to every so often, usually because you made her. Sometimes she came out of it even more wild and angry, other times it made her realize a few important things. You wondered what it was going to be this time.

"I know you're expecting an apology," she eventually said, her eyes refocusing onto yours. "But I'm not giving you one. I did the right thing. I saved our lives."

"You made us bow down to the enemy. You do know that's what our friends and families saw, right? We could've died standing our ground and instead--"

"I didn't make you do anything," she spat back. "You were more than welcome to make some heroic last stand or whatever on your own. But you didn't. You went along with my plan, and that was your choice."

"Like I was going to abandon you."

"And like I was going to let you die."

You were both silent now, staring at each other as you realized that while each of you fully understood the other person, you would never agree with their choice.

"We can't just fuck them," you finally whispered, getting back to the original topic. "We have to work with them."

"Or work to undermine them." Nat pushed off of her perch and started pacing around the small supply closet, pretending to be interested in some of the items on the shelves.

You, meanwhile, couldn't help but look behind you in paranoia, as if Hux himself was on the other side of the wall and listening in on everything.

"Think about it," Nat continued. "We're on the inside, surrounded by intel everyone else can only dream about. If we can just find a way to transmit it, or get ourselves off this bloody ship and tell the Resistance directly...."

"That's so dangerous," you shook your head. "If we were caught..."

"We'd be killed." Nat turned back around to face you with a look that dared you to challenge her. "Which, if I recall, was what you preferred to have happen anyway."

You bit your tongue, literally, to keep yourself from responding to her charged comment. Barely a minute into this unspoken agree-to-disagree arrangement and you were back at it again. If Nat wasn't willing to let it go, you would have to. For the sake of both your sanity's. And your lives.

"Why do you think Hux asked to have one of us be his assistant?" you decided to take a different approach. "Don't you think he, or anyone else who knows about us for that matter are watching? Waiting for us to give any hint that we're spying?"

Nat shrugged, already bored now that you weren't putting up the fight she wanted. "Nothing like a good challenge. Besides, it's not like you have any other options here. You either beat them or join them. Up to you."

She made for the door, pausing with her hand hovering by the control panel. Her shoulders lowered slightly and she looked back over at you with an odd look.

"Whatever you decide, we're in this together. Right?"

You realized she was worried. Maybe even afraid. Your fearless friend, always diving into the deep end without ever testing the waters, acting first and justifying herself later... and yet, she still needed a friend.

You just wished she could see you needed one, too.

"Of course," you said.

Hux rubbed at his jaw as he marched down to the bridge. Somehow the stiffness there had started feeling more painful than his persistent headaches. It would be annoying if he didn't have so much else to deal with.

Snoke had given Ren a fucking fortnight to investigate who had given him bad intel. That meant up to two weeks of unrestricted access to everything and everyone on the ship. And considering how Ren had removed his helmet just to show off the self-satisfied smirk on his ugly mug, Hux was certain the asshole would milk it. Take his time. Start with the least suspecting officer and pick them off one by one, just to get under Hux's skin.

Well, Hux wasn't going to have it. Not this time. No, he'd conduct a little investigation of his own. He suspected ineptitude; one of the junior officers who were always too eager to run with the first promising lead before fully vetting it out. All he'd need to do was offer leniency, at least more than they'd get from the rabid Force user, maybe threaten their careers just a little bit, and he'd get a confession much sooner than Ren.

To give himself even more of a head start, he'd also do a quick sweep of their work stations, just in case the offender was even more dumb about it and left behind some evidence. A downloaded file. An improperly deleted message. Heck, a handwritten note with coordinates to Clonu wouldn't be out of the question. Idiots always left behind breadcrumbs, and Hux always sniffed them out.

Even in the middle of the night in his pajamas.

He was a few turns away from the bridge when he ran into his assistant. He couldn't help his sudden intake of breath just as she let out a surprised gasp of her own. They stood a few feet apart in stunned silence for several agonizing seconds.

"What in hells are you doing?" Hux, of course, was the first to break, having every right to reprimand given the circumstance. She self-consciously clutched at the sweater she had wrapped around her standard issue nightclothes; Hux pulled at his own cloak, even though it was already covering most of his black silken pajamas.

"I was visiting my friend, sir" she said around a gulp.

"In the middle of the night?"

Her eyes lowered, though it seemed more out of embarrassment than fear. He wasn't catching her in a lie, he didn't think. Still, with everything going on, a wandering assistant with unknown motives was the last thing he needed.

"It's been hard to sleep, sir," she said in a low voice. Her eyes flicked back up to meet his briefly. He could probably guess at the meaning. Endless nights of interrogation. A stressful first day on the job. A bunk that was just uncomfortable enough. All of the above...

Hux rubbed at his jaw again as he sighed.

"Well... I still expect you punctual and alert in the morning, so... you'd better work that out."

He laughed internally while she nodded, oblivious to the irony of his words. He had been surviving years off an irregular sleep schedule. He wasn't sure anymore if it was his anxiety or spite that kept him going.

What kept her going? Her friend? Her mysterious reasons for being here?

"Yes, of course, sir."

"General," he grumbled.

"General," she mumbled.

They stared at each other for a long moment. It wasn't so tense as it was... awkward. She wasn't leaving. Nor was he, but he had essentially given her a directive to go work out her sleep problem. Did he really need to formally dismiss her? She had interrupted him.

Hux couldn't decide if he felt angry or sick in this unpleasant moment. Had he made a mistake, letting this pair of defectors aboard? Making one of them his own personal assistant? Was the experiment more trouble than it was worth? He'd barely had any time to pay it attention, getting swept up instead by this asinine situation with Ren. An actual assistant, well-versed in Order ongoings and with clear motivations, would've benefited him greatly right now. He could delegate some of these tasks, shift the blame if he was ever called into question for it...

"Are you alright?"

Hux wanted to frown at the sudden question but found he already was. He hadn't noticed how deep into thought he'd gone. The woman had apparently taken his scowling silence as some sort of indication that he was not, quote, "alright."

And since he wasn't immediately responding, too busy huffing in annoyance and massaging his jaw again, she went ahead and kept speaking.

"I mean, you're also awake and...." She faltered, unsure of an appropriate word. She settled for gesturing at the random hallway they found themselves sharing and continued. "Is there anything I can assist you with?"

Hux stiffened. Had she read his mind? Gods, it was too late for such nonsense.

"No," he said curtly. "I'm..."

He was going to say fine but stopped himself from giving her the satisfaction. It was none of her business how he was, even if it helped her figure out how to fulfill her duties as an assistant. Which would've required her to be genuine in her inquiry. Which she wasn't. Most likely. Maybe.

He didn't step out of the way as she passed so he caught a whiff of that awful soap they issued to the infantry. He wouldn't look after her but would wait until her footsteps petered out.

They did so only a breath later, causing him to look back after all. She had paused and seemed a little shy as she said one last thing.

"Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth."

He blinked.

She gulped.

"For your jaw pain. Press your tongue up, then open and close your jaw. It works for me, anyway. Until I can get a heat pack on it."

She gave a nod and then scurried off. Hux watched intently as she disappeared around the corner. After another beat, he finally forced himself to move, shaking his head to clear the perplexing thoughts about his assistant and reorient back to his mission. He sauntered off toward the bridge, cloak billowing behind.

Though when he next brought his hand up to his jaw, he paused and tried out the tongue technique instead. To his relief and chagrin, it worked.

• on that same note, the block button is your friend. see someone with a rancid, irredeemable take? someone generally being nasty and giving people a hard time? instead of getting into online discourse (oh my god why are people still going on twitter 🚬) you can block them! you will not get in trouble, and it will make the problem go away. feel free to rinse and repeat.

• do not put canon on a pedestal. someone’s fanart or fanfic is actually the exact same amount of fiction as canon is—even if canon has several published books & a tv show or whatever. you don’t “win” by having something confirmed by the High Creator, we aren’t Catholic (unless you are, in which case peace be with you). if you want to disregard a character death or see a ship get together—congrats, it’s just as real as canon. now go write a fic about it, perhaps.

• show appreciation for fanartists & fic writers. we do what we do for free, and frankly, put up with some shit in the process. comment on our works and share them with your friends when possible. (also whoever started that thing about how it’s rude to reblog with nice tags, it is not true at all?? it’s why we do what we do). reblog things with nice tags, make posts with links to fics you enjoyed—appreciation doesn’t take long to give & is cherished forever.

1- Sangihun,Jibyeok and 457 are ships that are just pure yaoi and yuri fantasy. In my eyes, Sang-Woo and Gi-Hun are doomed friends who got brutally hit by a tragic ending. Gi-Hun and Frontman are enemies who are different sides of the same coin (enemeies that have paralles but choosed different paths).I can't say certain thing about Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong but they are purely platonic to me (wish their dynamic were explored more tho).

2- Dae-Ho lied about being marine is a bullshit (Dae-Ho my boi get behind me!)

3- Jung-Bae and Jun-Ho are underrated as hell (and Jung-Bae deserves better than what he's got from the fandom)

4- Frontman being jealous of everyone breathing down Gi-Hun or other jokes about 457 is getting old as Optimus and Megatron divorced and made it everyone's problem.

5- Ngl i have my ships in the show but i morely ınterested in platonic,familial relationships and friendships.

6- Fandom caring about more shipping is sooooo insufferable when the show offers better things (at least to me 😅🤭)

7- I hate how underrated Gi-Hun is

8- I also had enough with Gi-Hun and some other characters (like In-Ho, who i enjoy as a villain) became a tool for shipping

1. A lot of the people in these notes are confused as to why 457 or inhun is so popular and I want to give my quick n short thoughts on it. I personally belive it's a hold over from S1. One of the most popular ships was sangwoo x gi hun. While sangwoo obviously isn't as bad as in-ho he was still a very toxic character all things considered. My point is, I think the thousands of toxic yaoi shippers that shipped 218 x 456 just migrated and latched onto 001 x 456 lmao.

2. This is just an echo in here but JUNG BAE IS UNDERRATED AS FUCK WHYYYY??? He so charismatic and he's an echo of S1 Gi-hun you would think people would really dig him. IDK I did.

3. Genuinely shocked in ho is popular they way he is. Not to be confused with him being popular in the first place. I get him BEING popular. They way he is popular tho... is odd. Thanos had the fandom response I thought Inho was going to reccive. Instead, seeing sooo many people being sympathetic and justifying his POV was... interesting to say the least.

4. I don't think all inhun shippers are the same and i have my own delulu ships. So when I say thier mental gymnastics are crazy I'm referring to a specific group. Those who try to ship them realistically are rare. In ho has an unhealthy obsession with gi hun that much is clear. But seeing so many trying to justify that obsession as romantic instrest rather than a cold manipulator who desperately wants to be right is comical. You need to insert a lot of imagination to make this ship sail.

5. I'm outing myself with this bias buuuut. I'm so shocked Jung bae x gi hun is practically nonexistent??? Gi hun was so protective over jung bae from the moment he saw him🥺. The way Jung-bae was able to cheer him up to acting like his older self. Jung bae at the start was cowardly but still chose certain death to fight with and protect Gi-hun. They have a past. Jung's last name was to signify him being Gi hun's "bae". OMG WHY DID SO FEW SEE THE VISON?!?!?

Anyway, I don't agree at all with what you're saying. Sang-woo isn't a toxic character; he was manipulative, but because he was forced to be. And Sangihun was never as popular as Inhun is, although it had every right to be.

Hard agree on Jung-bae. I don't know why he isn't more popular, idk what to tell you. Maybe his fans are less vocal and talk about him less than the fans of In-ho, for example. To be hones, I'm a Jung-bae fan and don't talk about him that much, so I'm guilty of this too.

Unfortunately, people tend to do that with attractive characters. They tend to justify him and excuse him too much, I find him an extremely interesting and well written character but I don't think what he's done is justifiable. I don't think he has much possibility for redemption either.

i felt like talking about a ship i continue to not like (loathe) and actively avoid today, especially one that i've hated ever since i was like, 11. yayyyy.. i mean kurokura/krkr/chrollopika and whatever else they use! it's one of the ships where if you asked me to shoot myself with a gun and actively ship it i'd shoot myself no hesitation for a second. i still hate it, even though now that i've broken away from friend groups that made me their puppet and can now FREELY express my opinions on this godforsaken app i still hate this ship. okay now let me get into it

okay so first and foremost the ship is just. arguably bad. the age gap is irky at best, and the dynamics ... i mean, i ship satomaya (the nosalv ones) which is arguably kind of worse but still. why would you even ship it. not only did chrollo literally kill kurapikas entire clan and sell their eyes like they were cosmetics but basically fucked over his entire life in the process... at least satori actually likes being around with maya jeez. anyway enough with mrtk this is hxh centered. oh yeah and also basically the entire thing all together is just.. not a good ship. it's a ship where if you told me you ship it i'd look at you genuinely dumbfounded and ask you if youre into that shit because no sane person would actually like this. and why is it always middle aged women fujoshis that like the ship?? you're an adult, go to your job and pay taxes instead of being the literal incarnation of teru mikami from death note towards light yagami but instead light is now replaced with krkr. please, do us a FAVOR. oh, and also, the fanart isn't even that good either .. most of it makes kurapika seem like a literal twelve year old or forcibly feminize him to the point where he literally is a woman ... it pisses me off

God. can i say everything. love love love everything about him: his genuine obsession with justice, something that he has that light doesn't !!!; how from a very young age, he has had this frigid mindset of good and evil like imagine being eight years old and thinking that; the fact that he's just a very huge fan of winston churchill. i love how pedantic and routinely he is, that is one of the main reasons why light failed in the end. he is so predictable that it's a fault, that he clings to his routine so much. he is NOT neurotypical, i love him so much. also love how his priority is his own ideals which he is sooooo fixed on, i'll talk about it a little later in the post.

ALSO i remembered this as i was writing this post but i really like the fact that he kind of absentmindedly thinks that he's the reason for all of this. very very very unexplored aspect of his character.

takada and mikami,,, my most beloved. they can conquer the world, i know this. they are best friends to me. mikami seriously respects her a lot and praises her. i just like to imagine them chatting together before they started working with light. just sitting together, talking over politics, current events, kira, their opinions. they both really really need it. on the other hand, put mikami and misa is a room together PLEASE. can't believe they have never had a canon interaction, this NEEDS to happen. one of these days,,, i will write a misa&mikami fic,,, it would be my best project yet i think considering they are the two dn characters i think i understand the most.

MIKALAWLIGHT 🗣🗣🗣 OTP OF ALL TIME 🗣🗣🗣think about those three every single day,,, my favorite death note ship,,, well technically it's an OT3 i believe but still. i have two modes of mikalawlight i constantly think about, one is in my special little 1stkira!mikami au where L's primary theory is that light is kira and mikami is his accomplice when it's actually the other way around, misa is still the 2nd kira and it's mikamisa in the same way death note is yagamane except mikami doesn't try to manipulate misa like light does. my second mode of mikalawlight is jdrama mikalawlight because it's the only version of death note where mikami actually co-exists with L (i think it's the only version ? don't know about live action movie or german audio drama). there's of course, alternate no death note universe mikalawlight that i think about. ALSO. everyone go read this fic, most perfect mikalawlight ever even though it's tragically unfinished.

while i really don't like christian mikami and how prevalent it is all the time in dn fandom, i do think he believes in something divine, a kind of higher power. it's not a christian god, it's something very specific to him. micah has a fic where they talk a little about him believing in a higher power like that and. nailed it, it's absolutely my thoughts on mikami. a vaguely muslim mikami is something i find really really really funny and something i think about all the time, because his take on the whole killing people thing really reminds me of the islamic concept of jihad. but i don't take that seriously because i am worried that it would be blasphemous. siller mikami headcanons, he can play the piano and violin. he is bisexual with a lean towards men and it's just something he's fine with it, doesn't think much of it. he cuts his own hair.

unpopular opinion

i will be super honest with you,,, back in like 2009-2016ish time frame, i sincerely believe that teru mikami was one of the, if not most, mischaracterized character in death note. it's fine now, there isn't anything outrageous about mikami that's going around now, but have you seen lawlight fics from that specific time. shudders. so unpopular opinion, i have got a lot of. hmph, but i think one of my favorite opinions that i have is that mikami is definitely not the picture of "blind devotion" like he is often made out to be. mikami is actually very independent and correct me if i am wrong, one of the first actions that he does as x-kira is literally oppose light, when he kills demegawa even though light didn't tell him to. i think HE thinks that he is really good at following orders and will do everything that kami tells him to and i also think that light thinks in the same way, that mikami is #1 perfect servant, but mikami's priority first and foremost is his own ideals, as i alluded to before. it's a part of his facade i think, all of his life

that's why he denounced light so easily in the warehouse scene.

so what this all boils down to is that mikami is NOT obsequious and a sycophant. if i did assign the concept of "blind devotion" to a character, it would probably be misa.
