What are the Titan's first reaction to Dick calling to them in owl hoots?

And what's their reaction to Batman answering Dick the same way?

At first he wouldn’t make any birds sounds around them at all, opting to wear contacts and talk as little as possible.

The first time they witness the bird sounds would probably be in response to Robin hijacking the comms after Dick didn’t check in with him at the alotted time, suddenly Nightwing is just standing off to the side, hooting and chirping softly in the the comms.

The titans are definitely confused because??? They thought Nightwing was human???? But apparently the name means something after all so whatever. If they can have an alien on the team then a bird-man-whatever is nothing. And Dick, upon seeing that they really don’t care at all, starts making bird sounds more frequently around them. And the Titans likewise learn to interpret some of the sounds (“look!” Is a sharp hoot, “stop!” a chittering hiss, and “nice-move-but-I’m-going-to-show-you-where-it-really-hurts-now” is an amused little chirrup).

The real surprise is Batman and Robin responding to Nightwing with the same sort of bird sounds and it takes them a good moment to realize that—- yep, “tall-dark-and-scary” just hooted at him like an owl. And now, apparently he’s not mocking him because Nightwing appears very happy about it and Robin also makes those weird little cheeps and trills that genuinely don’t sound like they should be coming from a human throat at all and—-

Yep, now Nightwing is??? Cuddling Robin???? Is that a thing?????? And making the softest bird noises yet?????? (One of the Titans definitely tries approaching them but the dead stare Dick gives them makes them backtrack very quickly. The message is clear: no approaching Robin.)

((Jason meanwhile jabs Dick in the ribs hard and pointedly makes his way over to the Titans to cheerfully say hello and let them know that if anything happens to Nightwing on their watch, he’s going to become their worst nightmare. The Titans are reluctantly impressed but also very much aware that Nightwing is still giving them that eerily blank stare that promises a world of pain if anybody even thinks about harming a hair on Robin’s head. Like they ever would. Batman’s wrath alone wouldn’t be worth it, but now they’re starting to see that Nightwing might be even scarier than him.

Wally eventually takes one for the team and introduces himself to Jason, offering to share some silly stories about Nightwing from their last mission and eat ice cream.The speedster is the first Titan to get his individual bird call.))

The Titans obviously aren’t going to question Batman hooting at Nightwing (no way, they value their skeletal integrity thank you very much) but that day, many wild rumors and speculations about Batman are born, some them gaining enough attention that JLA hear of them.

None of them want to ask, but the running bet is either that the Batfamily are all metas with bird characteristics (“It explains how they can stomach swinging through the city like that Roy! They’re meant to have wings, but now they have to compensate!”), or that they’re secretly some kind of eldritch entities that embody all the weirdness of Gotham City (“No Donna, think about it, it makes sense! Remember all those random owl statues and carvings around the city? They’re literally an embodiment of that cursed place!”)

So we know how the previous winners had a theme of not playing the game "correctly" and winning, right?

Joel and bdubs purposefully guessing pearls tasks wrong so she's safe around them and etho making half the server fail their joint task because he won't let anyone hurt his allies

Sorta figured out Shinjuro Rengoku's height. We know that Tengen is 6'6 and in this panel, Shinjuro is only a few inches shorter. I'd say he's prolly about 6'0-'3ish.

I also think he's prolly around 43-45. In the Meiji period (just before the taisho period), men usually got married in ages ranging from 18-30 (but mostly commonly got married around 25-30). In the picture of him with a pregnant Ruka, he appears to be in his early twenties (I'd say about 23). When Senjuro is born, Shinjuro appears to be in his late twenties. So that must mean that Shinjuro probably got married young for the time to continue the Rengoku family quickly. That also suggests that Shinjuro probably has no other siblings to help continue the line.

Idk, I'm just spitballing at this point, but basically, Shinjuro is most likely in his early 40s and 6'2ish

Thinking about how at the beginning of His Majesty's Dragon, Laurence (and by extension the reader) is given to think that aviators are removed from society because dragons are unruly, barely tamed animals who would present a danger for society and at best be unable to coexist with humans without falling back on their base instincts, and that's why aviators don't marry or mingle much with the rest of society. We're lead to believe it's a sign they're not fit for proper socializing, as they prefer the company of beasts to their own kind.

Then we meet Temeraire, who can talk and is curious and polite and eager to help, and we meet Volly and James who immediately befriend this stranger, and we meet the aviators whose only real standard for friendship is "don't be a dick to dragons".

And we see China, whose dragons are part of society as much of humans, and the Tswana whose dragons are enraged by the theft of their families, and the Inca with dragons hoarding humans, and the Americans with their entrepreneurial dragons.

And all through the series we see dragons being a highly social species : small dragons unabashedly sleeping on bigger dragons, dragons gossiping like ladies at tea parties, ferals who lived their whole lives removed from humans and yet jumping at the first occasion of friendship with humans (interested as it might be), even the breeding grounds being a whole society with various kind of dragons mingling together (mostly) cordially, dragons wishing for jobs beyond war and, when they're allowed to, doing a damn good jobs and being very protective towards the humans they care about.

And it makes you realize, aviators didn't *need* to be shunned and scorned. Dragons never were an issue, and social creatures as they are, they thrive into society ; but they were deprived of it, and their humans with them.

It was soooo good, it was sooo improved and made transcendent by the combination of those elements!

I just noticed something and now i have a theory.

So way way way back a looooong time ago, Wars was the first of the chain to interact with Dink

he attacked first, he got Dink’s attention. They fight for a bit until Wars knocks him off a cliff. And they realized Wars didn’t kill him and they keep walking.

The SECOND time Dink appears, Wars is the one he targets specifically

Four notices that out of everyone, Dink seemingly targets Wars. And Wars matched him, they fight for a bit, until Wars calls to Sky and Sky does a skyward strike (im pretty sure thats what he does? he makes the sword glow so like)

After sky did this Dink seemed pretty afraid of Sky. He ran away after that.

The third time we see him, Dink firsts attacks Time and Wind, and they fight him off pretty easily, almost as if they weren’t really his targets. But he’s still actively attacking them.

And then he moves on to Sky

And when he sees Sky’s sword start to glow, he gets NOTICEABLY scared. After this happens he stops attacking the chain and tries to run away.

Hyrule and Legend both try to stop Dink, but he does escape and Twilight has to go herd him back to the group, and that’s when Twilight gets hurt. While Time, Sky, and Wars are gone trying to help Twilight, Four and the others attack Dink, and eventually it’s Wild who uses stasis to kick his ass.

Everyone had a point in the battle where they interacted with Dink, except for Warriors. Who is the one who first fought him.

My theory is that we’re going to see an epic smack down between Wars and Dink, and also Sky. Those two seem to be the ones Dink has the biggest issue with, and after the stunt Wild pulled, I think it’s safe to add him to that group as well.

I think Dink has probably recognized those three are the biggest threat to him; Wars because he’s the strategist/planner and he’s the one who fought him first, Sky because of the skyward strike that scares Dink, and Wild because he hurt Dink pretty badly even if he didnt kill him

The more I think about it the more confused I am by the very brief appearance the triforce makes in botw (and then nothing at all in totk?). Like, it should have evaporated calamity ganon on the spot, it should have overpowered him completely. If zelda had his triforce piece, if he didn't have the Power piece to resist like in tp. He should have gone poof.

Did she accidentally use her wish early? Pure hearted don't break the triforce by wishing on it, it didn't save link, it didn't defeat ganon. Did it break? Where did the pieces go? I can't remember if she actually had a triforce mark on her hand?

Totk having the triforce be in pieces above the clouds would have been so cool...

I'm not considering aoc canon for this but also?? What's zeldas magic and what's the triforce? Did -

Did she just wish for the power to save link? To defend him and protect the kingdom? Is THAT why she suddenly became so insanely strong??

Wait I think I'm onto something here. Zelda carrying the triforce without realising and only having the strength to wish upon it in her darkest hour, but being unaware and untrained, the triforce lost to faintest myth over eons, instead of wishing for ganon to be destroyed and the kingdom restored like every other purposeful use in other games, she instead simply wished to be able to save link, to not be powerless, not be helpless.

And the triforce granted it. Which is why that's the only time it appeared in botk.
