This isn't really my area of coverage if I'm being honest; but as a woman and a mom it affects me greatly and I wish it was something I knew much sooner in life. So let's talk about it - pelvic health. And more specifically, pelvic organ prolapse. What is pelvic organ prolapse? It is when the pelvic floor becomes so weakened during pregnancy, childbirth, or excessive straining, that it begins to be unable to hold up the above organs. The three areas affected is a weakened pelvic floor are the bladder, uterus, and rectal wall. You can have one or all three of these areas prolapse due to a weakened pelvic floor. I didn't know that, and I definitely didn't know that this was something that could happen to someone before the age of say 40. I mean, I'm 25 and just found out but besides my endometriosis and PCOS, and other health conditions, the current majority of discomfort I'm feeling while at work is due to the fact but I have multiple pelvic organ prolapses - all three actually. Just in case I didn't have anxiety already. Also, apparently no one talks about this because I did loads of research before and after pregnancy and not once did this come up in any of it. Not to mention, nobody else warned me of this. Now, I definitely agree unnecessarily frightening new moms is never a good idea. But I do believe this is something that should be mentioned to any woman regardless of pregnancy, so that they can take the necessary precautions growing up and going through life to try to prevent this or prolong it from happening. ACNE SPOT TREATMENT
Yup, you guessed it – toothpaste! While those salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide treatments can work, they are expensive and come in small quantities. Why not use something you already have in your home? (Or at least I hope you do)
Instructions
Simple, the way we like it. Wash your face with your usual cleanser. If you use a toner, apply it. Then put just a little dab of your toothpaste – not the sweet ones like kids use. Let it sit for a half an hour and then remove. Or apply an even thinner layer before bed and leave on over night. Presto! If toothpaste can scrub your pearly whites and gums clean of the gross build up, it can definitely clean your pores. It works, I’ve been doing this for years. Let me tell you a secret I found to less greasy hair an itchy scalp - coconut oil. Yup, coconut oil. And let me tell you, it feels amazing. I do it so often now I don't really measure anything. I just stop adding when I feel I've covered and massaged my scalp enough. The trick is warming the coconut oil first. I use maybe half a cup of solid coconut oil (room temp). I put it in a glass jar and let it sit in hot water - boiled water sometimes for fasted melting. You don't want it so hot that it will burn you though, you just want it warm. For less mess, apply while in the shower but to dry hair. You can pour it on your scalp first our in your palm then apply it - whatever is easier. Massage it in good so it coveres all your scalp, then work your way down to the ends of your hair. Put your hair up in a bun then do your usual shower routine, leaving your hair as dry as possible till the end. When you're ready to do your hair, first rinse thoroughly and continue to massage your scalp. Then do your typical shampoo wash and conditioner. Cravings tonight... mini crueler donuts! So bad for you but so good. ••• Use a food thermometer to monitor the temperature of the oil - keep it around 365°F ••• INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 cups sifted flour 5 tbsp sugar 1 teaspoons baking powder 1 egg 2 cup almond milk 2 tsp vanilla 6 tbsp vegan butter ••• Combine ingredients in a bowl and use a hand mixer or puree wand to mix thoroughly ••• Use 1/4 cup (optional) to measure dough amount and drop into hot oil. Cook for 30 seconds to a minute then flip over using tongs. Continue to cook for another 30 seconds to a minute or until golden brown. Remove from oil and let cool on paper towel to soak up excess oil. In chapter 7 of "Parenting From The Inside Out", it discusses what happens when unresolved childhood issues are triggered as a parent. ••• The last two chapters I have covered are the ones I personally feel are key to reconnecting and identifying with your own childhood. It is SO important to understand your own childhood - regardless if it was positive or negative. If you ever think to yourself or say to someone, "______ happened to me and I'm fine/survived/stronger/etc.", maybe you could give yourself the chance to learn more about your childhood than you thought. All this home time gives me plenty of time to think up new dairy free dishes to keep our belly's happy. This one was a spurr-of-the-moment bowl of yummy that everyone in the house was quite satisfied with after lunch! This is like a casserole, except its fried not baked.
