Finally getting around to watching the Sign. Lemme just say that “reincarnated soul mates” thing is doing a lot of heavy lifting for Phaya and Tharn’s relationship plot chemistry (outside the actors, of course)
#Billy and babe have fantastic chemistry#but if Phaya and Tharn were played by different actors#would we believe that they are actually meant to be#there isn’t a lot of getting to know you or quality time spent between them#that isn’t just Phaya pushing Tharn’s boundaries and Tharn trying to resist it#no growth or progression beteeen them at all#their dynamic has stayed pretty much the same since episode 2#but now they’re together without really having any character development.#say what you will about the sign#it is fantastic but also very much look pretty and do as little as possible#the sign#the sign the series#billybabe

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 2: SIMON PETRIKOV
Let me know if I missed anything!
First of all the title sequence is fucking cool. I don't want to speculate about the various things we see in it, like the apartment getting blown up or the Fern tree growing into its 1000+ version, because I'm sure the show will get round to all that!
The first scene was an awesome reintroduction to the post-apocalypse, showing us the dynamic between Simon and Marcy. The button popping off Marcy's dungarees was a reference to young Marcy's first appearance, Memory of a Memory, when she removed one of the buttons herself to fix Hambo's eye.
Simon was show playing a live set at Dirt Beer Guy's tavern in Obsidian. It seems they've gotten to know each other quite well over the past twelve years. Dirt Beer Guy asks Simon if he's read his new book draft, about a character called Joe Milkshake who was first mentioned in the episode Root Beer Guy.
Despite the fact we saw Jake in the trailers, Finn and T.V. pretty much confirm in this scene that Jake is dead, and has presumably been dead since before Obsidian. I guess Bronwyn wasn't the only Jake descendant who Finn took on as an apprentice, but T.V. doesn't seem all that into it. The Finn and Jake we saw in the trailer are likely from an alternate universe that we have yet to see.
Finn uses his weed whacker to cut through these bushes. A nice way of showing he's fully recovered from his Fern guilt. The focus here is very much on Simon's problems instead of Finn's.
Finn parts with Simon to go and visit Huntress Wizard. The nature of their relationship remains ambiguous and I expect it to stay that way.
Simon has the Island Lady from The Party's Over Isla de Señorita in his phone. I guess they reconnected after he became Simon again. He also has Abracadaniel. I always liked Ice King's friendship with Abracadaniel and the rest of the Order of Giuseppe so I hope they're still friends!
Cute Bubbline scene. Back in the episode Bonnibel Bubblegum, Mr. Creampuff suggested he and PB get matching tattoos. Now she's (trying to) do the same with the girl she's chosen rather than some guy who was chosen for her! Also Marceline is using the same phone she's been seen with in a few previous episodes, including Go With Me and Be Sweet.
I think the flying human city is called Up-Ton.
Choose Goose! He keeps coming back! And he's evil now! People were joking about him being the antagonist of Fionna and Cake after that weird post-credits scene in Wizard City and the fact he was in hell in Together Again. I wasn't expecting that to actually come true. Glob knows why he's hanging out in a cage in Simon's house.
The pattern of GOLB's eyes is reflected in Simon's glasses during the ritual. He is doing the same dance that Betty was doing to summon GOLB in the finale.
Among the objects in Simon's GOLB shrine are the Farmworld Enchiridion, the flying carpet that Simon stole from Ash and was later frequently used by Betty, the crocodile clips that Betty used for her magic rituals, two effigies of GOLB, and what looks to be the shell of the snail who was seen throughout the original series.
In this credits sequence, Fionna and cake are dreaming about the mask being worn by the bear than Finn slew, and a butterfly with a smiley face on it. Perhaps symbolising Finn?
Tune in next week for episodes 3 and 4!

So about Caitvi...
I'm no one to judge whether or not caitvi is good representation. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy if the lesbians watching the show are happy.
...you know what does piss me off though? A teeny tiny bit more than just "a little"?
Seeing some people defend the absence of a conversation between Caitlyn and Vi with "actions matter more than words".
Like...okay, first thing first, season 2 makes it pretty clear that's bullshit given how every other pairing previously at odds resolved things through the almighty power of talking things out: Vander wrote a letter to Silco and they became gay dads in the au, Ekko went through all possible combinations of words to convince Jinx not to blow herself up, and whatever the fuck Viktor and Jayce had going on in the finale... So yeah, crazy thing to say about this season;
Secondly, when we say "actions matter more than words", are we just not counting the verbal promise of not changing followed by abuse/ pain caused by the very much action of hitting a victim of police brutality who has utterly betrayed herself and her people for the sake of helping the same exact person who hit her because she pointed out "hey, maybe don't risk shooting a child"?
GRANTED this and most of what I'll say next is applicable to most of season 2 imo- we barely get to sit with the seriousness of a situation we just have to skip to the next one, so I wouldn't say it's a caitvi thing alone... nevertheless it's present there too, so back to the main conversation-
We know Caitlyn regrets it, but does she ever understand why it's so fucked up that she did that? Vi has a rush of emotions after realizing what Cait has done and is happy to stay with her, but once they... finish in that prison, does Vi really respect herself as an individual who has gone through some tough shit or is it a passive "fuck it we ball" attitude all the way to the finale where she wears once again the enforcer badge?
Caitlyn's personal character development (one that has to do with seemingly grief alone and nothing to do with classism and power dynamics which are a massive part of the problem both on a micro and macro level) shouldn't be something that "makes up" for what she did to Vi in episode 3, and because Vi's character was criminally neglected we never really get to see her actually give a shit about herself beyond, allegedly, her relationship with Cait- which is fucked, considering Vi always ever only sees herself in relation to others (Cait or Jinx for the most part) and never as a stand alone person.
That's why that conversation was pretty much needed here.
Aside from the fact that having a conversation with a partner isn't just saying "sorry", it's about being vulnerable, letting them know you see them, telling them where you stand, being just openly honest with one another etc. (aka is an integral part of the relationship itself), it also would've been an excellent way to let all the development they couldn't show for a lack of time still shine through dialogue.
No, it's not a "wanting things spelled out", it's a "they quite literally did that a bunch of times already in this very season, so they might as well do it for the main romance too since a conversation would also be fitting for the current situation"; examples might include that one scene with Silco and Ekko in episode 7 about forgiveness, or that one scene of Isha and Jinx where Jinx literally spells out "hey you remind me of Powder, meaning myself when I was younger, the younger self I thought I left behind-" (insert that one clip of Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove).
And before anyone puts words in my mouth, this isn't coming from a place of hate for either Caitlyn and Vi or Caitvi as a ship; engaging in criticism isn't hate for what's being critiqued, so please don't assume that some conversations don't come from a place of love for the show and the characters just because they don't openly praise every bit of what we got.
edit: ...tell you what, the more I think about it the more it seems that the issues I have with how this ship comes to be aren't even super specific to these characters and their relationship, but are actually the same exact things I don't love about the general writing of season 2 on a bigger scale (lack of commentary on class oppression, character arcs that feel unfinished or cut short, the theme of love and forgiveness ending up undermining the seriousness of some situations- I'm not complaining about the theme itself nor I'm saying it comes out of nowhere, I'm saying that probably due to the pacing/lack of time we can't sit with how fucked up some stuff is before getting to the point of "love > anything else"... which isn't a wrong sentiment, I'm just talking about the journey to get there)
#shout out to that one girl on tiktok who said#handling complex female characters ≠ we support women's rights and wrongs#caitvi#arcane#arcane critique#caitlyn kiramman#vi arcane#piltover's finest#queer representation#arcane season 2#piltover and zaun

Analysis of Tervo throughout the seasons
I think the reason why I love SO so much is because the romance is not the reason you watch the show, at least at the beginning. For 3 seasons straight, the two characters who have so much chemistry aren’t in love. Or technically, they’re not together. Which makes sense, because they’re not supposed to be in love. They are shlorpians with teammate affinity.
(Note that I think the whole Valentine’s Day plot was a bit of a stretch, with teammate affinity being something that’s literally never been mentioned once. But you know what ? I can look past this. There are worst stretches in cartoons. Like the Simpsons.)
What makes their relationship so interesting is that, not only do they absolutely work even though they’re complete opposites (I know, that’s the point of the show), but they have been sharing that braincell ever since the first episode. Terry shows something Earth-related to Korvo, Korvo actually takes an interest because it fascinates him, they have fun and bond, it goes to shit, Korvo goes back to working, and repeat. They don’t have the best dynamic, yet their bond is strong enough to make it work. And it works because even in the first Season, they like spending time with each other.
S1 :
In season 1, Korvo spends most of his time on the ship. Half of the time, Terry is here to keep him company. He doesn’t do anything, he just sits there with a magazine or a Tiki drink and blabbers about human culture. And his inattentive and forgetful nature sometimes gets Korvo hurt when he fixes something. But still, he remains. Even though Korvo could and probably should banish him from the ship for their own safety. But the thing is, he actually likes having him around. Despite all his faults, Terry is sweet, and cares enough about him to stay in this boring ship to talk to him. That’s more than probably anyone has ever done for him, from what we’ve seen of their past.
As for Terry, he sees this guy who works literally all the time, and even if he usually shuts out anything fun, when Korvo does indulge him, they get into some crazy sci-fi action. He also knows his friend works hard, and does all of the chores, and cares for the whole family, even if he never expresses it directly. If you headcanon that he’s sapiosexual (« It is sexy when you know about the ship »), that also explains why Terry had some interest in him as well.
Even in the first season, even when they hadn’t shared a single kiss, they liked each other. (big up to the dumb ray episode that made people go nuts when it came out. We’ve come so far)
They’re not in love, but you can already see that Korvo will be the one to fall for his opposite first. Terry annoys him so much - and by grey gods, he endured more stupidity from his friend every day than my parents in a year. But he knows Terry genuinely chooses to spend time with him even though he could be boning humans literally 24/7. He chooses to stay in this boring ship with him to talk and just spend time together.
S2 :
They pretty much share the same dynamic in Season 2, except that now, they also share kisses sometimes. It’s not exactly a love kiss, at least not yet. It’s more of a way to say « I’m sorry » and « thank you ». It’s not often and it’s treated as a treat. Other than that, everything is the same. Terry keeps going around to have intercourse with humans and comes back in the ship to eat and hang out with Korvo. And… I have a theory. A SO theory. Remember this ?
It’s barely a 1 sec image of Korvo squinting while watching Terry vibe with a random human. It’s from the red goobler wedding episode.
And I think half of the reason Korvo… did what he did in that episode, was because he was frustrated with his relationship with Terry. Or rather, the lack of relationship he was wishing for. And so, there was this other being, that had a deep connection to him, and who he vibed with and who wanted him… and they boned. And Korvo told him they should get married. And their relationship worked for a solid 2 minutes.
I wholeheartedly believe this whole thing was much more about Terry than it was about anyone else. And if this has already been explored in like, 50 fics, I am sorry, and proud that I realized this by myself.
S3 :
Anyway, let’s keep going with Season 3. This one marks a huge change in their dynamic because it’s the year Korvo finally decides to put down roots on Earth. No more fixing the ship all the time, just occasionally. Thus, he spends the rest of the day with Terry or his family.
… Which makes him realize just how much time Terry spends with other humans, with whom he shares more than just hobbies. And it really frustrates him. Along with the Gladwell episode, he openly voices his jealousy this season. Maybe he even realizes that the "smooch on the lips" wasn’t just their thing, but that Terry did it with random strangers in the street ? In any case, he hates it.
(Small detail that even though Korvo craves something more with Terry, he’s the one who shows it the least. He tries to keep this "authoritative and strong and awesome" persona even when he just wants to rip Terry’s shirt off. My proof : « And then after that, we make out ? / Maybe. / That means no. / No ! It means… maybe. »)
This season also doesn’t show Terry having sex with anyone. In fact, it shows him being abandoned by his lovers who turned out to be psychos. Instead, he gets to share more of what he likes with Korvo and spends more time with him (the line, the skull bullet, tacos bell). And he’s obviously very happy with this new dynamic. Not only does Korvo listen to all of his stupid ideas, but now he actively participates in them. Gradually, he spends more time with his teammate and therefore, less with humans.
S4 :
Season 4 is the second best after Season 5, and not just because Dan Stevens joined the party. In season 4, Tervo don’t just smooch. They completely kiss and moan like sexy savages. They have sex twice on camera, even though we only see it once. Everything changes, but they still have the same chemistry they had in Season 1. Do stupid things, get upset, make peace, repeat. Then make out. That’s the difference. Korvo saves Terry in the stock-a-verse with « the power of love » and stabbing, and Terry tells a stranger he can’t have sex with her because he’s in love with his partner. *squint at the Valentine’s Day episode*
But then, after they "finally realize that they have love", they immediately get married. As if what Shlorp told them about their species was the only thing holding them back.
And then… oh boy. That’s some loving, horny rollercoaster we get on for Season 5. I had as many « awwww » moments watching it as I did watching WOY, but not for the same reasons.
S5 :
This time, their dynamic actually shifts. Korvo is more than ever the one doing the silly, stupid shit. And when he’s not spending his time beefing with a human, he’s with his family and/or lover. Tervo don’t argue about stupid shit anymore. They let it slide. And they truly, deeply love each other.
Korvo clearly shows it more, as he’s been dying to express his feelings (the skirt, the endless honey moon, the desperation to keep the what if device away). But he didn’t know if it was normal or even allowed to do before the Valentines Day episode. Now that he knows they can be in love and are, he doesn’t count the seconds, the pennies, the attention : it all goes to Terry.
I’m telling you, that pupa specialist is spoiled as hell every day. But he doesn’t love Korvo for his ways of always going the extra mile. He loves him for the same reasons he liked him at first : he cares for the family, he’s smart as hell, he’s dedicated. Yet he’s still so emotionally stupid. But it’s fine, he can be the emotional intelligence for the both of them.
I honestly wonder if we’ve reached the peak of their relationship or if there will be much more. Maybe in Season 6, we’ll see Terry sacrifice some things for Korvo. Maybe Zarck will kidnap one of the duo and they’ll spend three episodes getting him back. Maybe we’ll finally have the episode that explores Korvo and Terry’s past to understand their daddy issues. Or maybe we’ll have more Gravity Falls style shenanigans with the replicants. I don’t know which idea I’d like more, honestly.
Anyway ! Thanks for reading. That was some long analysis. I’m going to eat breakfast now. Toodles !
#solar opposites#Tervo#relationship#character analysis#this has been a long time coming#and they spent a long time comin’#get it ? okay fine - I’ll go eat#oh and if I made a mistake please do tell

MALMAISON MEDIA SALON SOIRÉE 19: LA MÁSCARA NEGRA(1982)
1. The Introduction
Greetings, Neighbors. I missed you and hopefully you missed me too!
Anyway, you already know that I kept rescheduling because a lot of stuff has happened, so let’s not waste time on explanations and talk about this obscure swashbuckling TV series made in Spain in 1982.
I found it on IMDb a while ago, under the category of Napoleonic movies and series. Since I have a soft spot for swashbuckling stories and hadn’t seen anything of the genre set during Peninsular War, you can imagine how curious I got.
Luckily, the entire 11 episodes can be found on YouTube, but only in Spanish so yeah… it’s a bit of a bummer, unfortunately.
Either way, I do speak Spanish fairly well, so at the very least I can make a review out of the series! Let’s see if it’s actually an interesting subject. Also, this review is dedicated to @josefavomjaaga , @that-enragee and @koda-friedrich .
2. The Summary
Obviously, the classic swashbuckling formula with a masked hero definitely applies here. Our protagonist is one Don Carlos de Zaráte, an adventurer who returns to Madrid right before the beginning of the Peninsular War.
Although reluctantly, Don Carlos eventually assumes the identity of The Black Mask, a folk hero fighting the French and their collaborators, all while pretending to be a collaborator himself by day.
3. The Story
The swashbuckling genre in its classic form isn’t exactly known for that much originality, but, as someone who grew up on such stories, I don’t actually mind the classic formula, as long as the story and characters still appeal to me.
Luckily, here the story has a twist: Don Carlos is not the original Black Mask, but rather he assumes the mantle of the hero at the beginning of the story, succeeding the person who had the alter ego beforehand.
And at first Don Carlos is reluctant to do it until he decides to fight the French invaders, which makes room for some nuance in the story and the character arc. The show could have benefited from having nuance in the French characters too, but usually swashbuckling stories don’t have the most complex villains so there’s that.
I did like the pacing, the semi-episodic story structure and a bit of an ambiguous ending that still neatly wrapped up the plot.
Also, I find it refreshing that many historical events are a backdrop for the actual plot, unlike all the stories I’ve seen where characters help shape history (nothing wrong with either btw).
4. The Characters
Don Carlos is actually a pretty complex character. Instead of merely pretending to be a foppish aristocrat, he actually used to be one before the story and only during the series it becomes merely a facade to ward off suspicions. He grows and matures a lot over the course of the story while still remaining the same person at his core, so the change feels realistic.
He’s also very cunning and ingenious, using various tricks to aid him in his escapades. Not above seduction or gambling, but, again, often uses it to maintain cover and gather information.
Then there’s Elodia, a young hat maker who Don Carlos takes under his wing. While she is too young to help The Black Mask, sometimes she does have an important role in the adventures and she also has a found family kind of dynamic with Don Carlos, which is sweet! She is very mature, but still a realistically written child.
Don Diego, younger brother of Don Carlos, is a much more hotheaded and idealistic youth than his brother and his role, while quite small, still sets the main events in motion.
Francisco Goya, who is basically a minor recurring character, stays neutral (at least publicly) but in reality is appalled by the war and isn’t afraid to speak through his art, even though it’s still very dangerous. He even plays a prominent role in one of the episodes.
Joachim Murat, who makes a few appearances, surprisingly isn’t made stupid! Sure, he is very ruthless, but at the very least he’s smart.
Joseph Bonaparte is name dropped and at least one character calls him a drunkard, but not Pepe Botellas.
Soult is mentioned as well but doesn’t appear in the series.
5. The Setting
Actually I like the setting. Not very high budget but still quite nice and seems accurate enough, at least to me.
I especially liked all the landscapes like hills, the shores, etc.
6. The Acting
Amazing job all around, especially when it comes to Sancho Gracia, who plays Don Carlos. This particular actor actually appeared in a lot of media set during peninsular war. A few actors are a bit too old though, like the one who played Murat.
7. The Conclusion
Honestly, I did enjoy the series! Flaws aside, it’s a pretty solid adventure story with an interesting twist on the usual masked avenger formula so, if you do know Spanish and are looking for a fun series to kill time, I recommend it!
Anyway, that would be all for today’s soirée. Thank you for coming and stay tuned for more reviews!
Love,
Citizen Green Pixel

this is about your "likely scenarios" and "what would have happened if Violetta had bumped into someone else in Episode 1" (w/ Francesca)
i feel like it would've been "the rain scene"
and francesca was probably on her way to the studio and either overslept or wasted too much time on the phone yapping with cami and maxi as she was eating breakfast/preparing herself
and now she was (fashionably) late (as always)
the circumstances don't really matter because she would've been way too much into her own world to even realise that it was starting to rain
until it started pouring HARD but she couldn't turn back (aka didn't want to) because "she already went so far" (she was too lazy to do it)
for this scene i actually have two options in mind: 1. before running out of her house her mother reminded her of her jacked and she picked it up (but kept it on her arm as she was running) and she used that to cover her head (because she was so caught up in everything that she felt like stopping to put on the jacket would've made me lose way more time) or 2. she didn't hear (or ignored) her mothers words and ran out without it but then used her backpack as a way to shield herself from the rain (which would've made a mess either way)
while this is happening there is the usual scene of violetta picking up her pace as she notices that it's starting to rain harder
and then the "slip"
Francesca and Violetta's path crossed and Fracesca is barely slower than her, which allows her to see the girl walk right past her and she throws her backpack in the mudd to be able to catch her
(i feel like it wouldn't play out like Tomás's exagerated catch but something more like a "casquè" type of catch (like the dance figure)
This would knock the air out of Violetta and impress her so fucking much actually like, "wow, oh she really did that. That was... THE COOLEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME" (which wouldn't be too far-fetched since she has always been controlled and never had a real relationship or close/meaningfull friendships/dynamics since she moves away way too fast to even be able to have that)
this all happens very quickly in practice but it feels like hours passed as Violetta was caged into her arms
the same thing didn't happen to Francesca at least until she turned her head down and looked into her eyes (poor Vilu probably had the most terrified/open-eyes bambi look on her face since she almost feel and made a fool of herself infront of this "very cool" and "very pretty" stanger
anyway, after Francesca realises that she's staring TOO MUCH at her she quickly almost catapult Vilu on her feet with all the strenght she put into her push
and take her backpack from the mudd and starts to ramble in the most random way about how "she's late" and that "she hopes that she's okay but needs to be more careful" and how this "gregorio is gonna cut her head and put it on a silver plate if this other person (spoiler: angie) isn't there, since she's way more understanding and would still scold her but she would get it" as she was trying to make it (the backpack) look at least decent
(and she wasn't really talking TO Vilu, it was more about talking AT HER, to take her mind off what just happened and how she made a "fool out of herself")
Vilu at the same time is probably stopping her mid-phrases trying to say that "she's so sorry" and that "she would be more careful the next time" and maybe even saying that she wants to repay her by buying her a new backpack (and Fran is way too deep into her own bullshit to listen fully to her, because if she did she would've insisted and said no)
just pure chaos
at the end she gives up on cleaning her backpack
takes violetta by the end and then they quickly cross the street together
Francesca takes a few steps with her usual quick pace and then turns back to her one more time and she wave her hand as a way to say goodbye
as she disappears running into the other side of the road Violetta is probably staying still trying to process all that just happened
and then she would probably just shake her head and go on with her day, while keep thinking from time to time about the "mysterious girl"
This is before their canonical meeting, and I feel that if things went this way, Violetta would have for sure recognized her from that day, while Fran was probably way too overwhelmed with everything happening in the studio and her family, and Luca always bringing up what her family has sacrificed to be able to let her frequent the school that she probably wouldn't have been able to recognize her straight away (at least until she told her).
[sorry for how long and messy this is, also ignore the usual grammatical errors lol]
Aww I love this so much 💝💝

Bungo Stray Dogs: An Essay on the Parallels of SKK and SSKK? IDK anymore (Spoiler Heavy?? Thread Carefully)
Introduction:
Before writing this essay I have watched the anime up till season 4, read the manga in its entirety up to chapter 107, read the manga version of beast, watched the dead apple movie and read storm bringer. So a pretty substantial chunk of the BSD universe but not the entirety of it. I might get things wrong because I have a shitty memory and the last time I watched the BSD anime in its entirety was like in 2021. Originally, I had written an essay detailing the SSKK fight with Fukichi on the ship to my friends. Today I will further explore the themes that were addressed in that essay.
Issue 1: Their First Meeting
It is evident throughout the BSD series that Dazai thought that Atsushi and Akutagawa would be great working together and saw them as a second generation of what him and Chuuya were once. In the earlier episodes of Season 1 there is a scene in which the ADA showed Atsushi a picture of Akutagawa telling him to stay away from him and to run if he was spotted. Later on when outside with the Tanizaki siblings is the first meeting between the two. They fought and Dazai stopped it using No Longer Human. To me this seems like a somewhat parallel to SKK's own first meeting which involved Chuuya also not having the best impression of Dazai and wanting to fight him.
Issue 2: Their Trust
Unlike in SKK, SSKK does not have nearly the same level of trust if any at all. All of them working together is to please Dazai or for some other ulterior motive that does not exactly require them to have a substantial amount of trust in each other at all. However to say that they are completely devoid of trust in one another is entirely inaccurate. Atsushi struggles in his belief that Akutagawa will protect him where Akutagawa is completely confident in Atsushi's skills. That's why he's willing to give Atsushi his coat during the fight in Cannibalism against the Earth Ground Monster thingy underground. By giving Atsushi his coat, Akutagawa makes himself vulnerable as he is unable to use Rashōmon to defend himself (later we find out he can actually still use rashōmon but he probably prefers not to).
In dead apple, I feel that it is implied that Akutagawa had full faith in Atsushi that he would figure out that Byakko is his. And would thereafter gain back control of his ability and later join them in Mukurotoride (Skull Fortress the stupidest designed shit ever like who even designed it it looks like it could fall apart with a small gust of wind? Also the foundations are way to slim not to mention how parts of the building itself are held together with impossibly narrow beams we can discuss this later) Which honestly, that's crazy I would not have had that much faith in Atsushi personally. Especially since he is known to lick his own wounds. Though I could have misinterpreted the action and Akutagawa just genuinely thought that he could fight Shibusawa and win but you know what it's okay to be delulu.
As previously mentioned, the scene of which SSKK are fighting Fukichi. Fukichi mentioned that the reason they failed was due to Atsushi's lack of trust in Akutagawa to protect him. Dazai originally probably saw him and Chuuya in the two of them and therefore insisted for them to work together. However he miscalculated the fact that they might not be able to learn to have the same trust in one another as SKK has. Chuuya's strength is his loyalty. He's loyal to the sheep, he's loyal to the mafia, that very same loyalty is also extended to Dazai. Chuuya has the very simple faith that if he uses corruption, Dazai will use his ability to prevent him from dying. Trust is not exactly a strong suit of either part as of SSKK though.
Issue 3: Fighting/Bantering
Do I really need to explain this? (I dont but I'll still do it) Something that is unique to SKK and SSKK dynamic I feel is the fact that they seemingly hate each other but at the same time would help each other out. I won't even hesitate to use the word hate to describe their relationship because in Storm bringer, Mori told Dazai that he would save Chuuya simply because if he dies Chuuya would die too. Dazai then has a whole reaction to the fact that Chuuya would die with him and how horrible it would be. At the same time though, Dazai was willing to help Chuuya figure out whether or not he was a real human or if he was really just 2383 lines of code. (I love love-hate relationships you dont understand)
In SSKK, the two are seen constantly fighting each other because they didn't like something about the other. For example, Akutagawa doesnt like Atsushi's self pitying despite having everything that Akutagawa would ever want and Atsushi just disliking the way Akutagawa is able to just hurt others. They don't have the same mutual understanding as SKK because they are in two different organisations that although are under truce, were for the longest time opposing with the Black Lizard coming to attack the agency every few months for I guess shits and giggles? However when Atsushi made a promise with Akutagawa, Akutagawa didnt break it, really not killing a single person for 6 months and even after being turned into a vampire refused to hurt Aya because of this promise.
Issue 4: Circumstance and Fate
This part isn't really on a parallel but it's relevant.
We know from beast that if SSKK had met under a different circumstance that they would have been able to get along fine. This leads me to believe that their hatred was really a result of circumstance rather than an act of fate. There is also the fact that beast is a canonical au to the bsd main universe being one of the many worlds in the book. Thus, it is also safe to assume that in every world, SSKK would eventually end up as partners due to Dazai's direct intervention. But, what about the worlds in which Dazai did not influence them? I believe that they would have still ended up getting to know one another, whether it be under a better or worse circumstance.
Since there are so many parallels already within SSKK and SKK, it is also safe to say that the same could also be true for Dazai and Chuuya. Despite the universe, they might have still met each other. That the dislike they hold for each other could be circumstantial.
Conclusion:
There are definitely parallels between SKK and SSKK but as many parallels as they are, there are also aspects unique to each one.
More on Mukurotoride's stupid design:
I wonder how someone even gets to the top and like the place where fyodor, shibusawa and dazai were all sitting and discussing and shit seems like the very top and like shibusawa got the whole collection up there too? Is it not heavy? How did this thin ass building not collapse yet??? Also why are the windows stain glass? I dont think anyone is regularly using that building let alone enough to warrant such fancy windows? Also this thing is next to Suribachi city. Ain't no way anyone spent resources to build that after the Arahabaki shit Chuuya pulled wayyy back and like no way it survived it either? Yeah you know what maybe let's not question it.

Utsukushii Kare (S1, S2, Movie) Live Blogging
I can't believe I'm finally, finally, finally getting around to watching Season 2 and the movie (+ rewatching season 1).
I knew I liked this show well enough and the characters have stayed with me since watching it in 2022 but I didn't realize that Utsukushii Kare is pretty special because it's actually the very first live blogging post I did on this blog. It was February 2022 and now it's 2+ years later March 2024. Before then, I'd maybe tweet a thread of me watching but the tweets would be sparse because I didn't wanna spam people. I think I got the idea because I was writing so many Bad Buddy thoughts (also in Jan-Feb 2022) on my show tracking spreadsheet and that wasn't sustainable lol
Anyway, looking at these is making me remember that I'd been looking forward to season 2 from when I finished watching (from my live blogging ending thoughts) and had anticipated the release of it for months and months. Even more ridiculously, in my show tracking spreadsheet, the only thing I wrote for this show was a link to my live blogging and "If there was a sequel, I'd watch" bruh that's all I had to say and yet I'm finally watching the sequel 2 years later (while the sequel has been out for a year).
Anyway, enough chatter, I think I'm just delaying watching this show because I like season 1 and the characters so much and I'm just... nervous about my expectations.
Utsukushii Kare: Season 1
Probably won't be writing much because I already did the whole live blogging for this.
Also, it's weird that I haven't rewatched this? Why do I remember it so vividly if I haven't rewatched? I occasionally watch a bunch of tiktoks for the show and sometimes people mention it in podcasts, so maybe that's why? I was thinking maybe I'd watched reaction videos but nah, apparently I'd only watched that for 1 account back in April 2022. Once again, I continue to ramble instead of pressing play
Ep 1 (Mar 23)
Watched like 12 minutes before falling asleep
Ah, the fondness is coming back
Ep 2 (Mar 23)
Oh, the group going to Hira's house and the bike riding scene is here? in my head it was later
And the bike riding continues to be an incredible scene
Ep 3 (Apr 17)
Uhhh, I'm back after almost a month lol I think I wanted something much easier without complex dynamics at the time, so I'd watched Destiny Seeker instead
Oh, I'd forgotten about this tense scene after the contest
ahh the masturbation thing lolol
It bothers me that Kiyoi was nice again to those bully boys like why make good with them again? And when you're graduating no less?
that sudden kiss + pushing him hard enough that he falls to the ground + saying "see you again" before leaving really is just terrible and confusing lol
Ah, Hira really was always putting himself down and putting Kiyoi in a pedastal in these episodes + I remembered when somebody pointed out that in Hira's POV, there are many shots where Kiyoi is on elevated ground or taller/higher than Hira, so I noticed a lot of that in this ep
Ep 4 (Apr 17)
ack, the immediate 'stalker' to someone who ppl think is his fan is so T.T
"I want to kneel down at your feet right now" kills me every time
Koyoi's inability to communicate and Hira's idealized view of him are both so just . insane
ahh Kiyoi's POV from next ep
the episode starting with Hira saying "For several insipid years, all I did was grow up." while Kiyoi ends the episode with the same sentence
Ep 5 (Apr 17)
seeing Kiyoi lose his mind over Hira is so cathartic
ough, i forgot this hug that Kiyoi sees
I disliked the other guy more when I first watched it than I do now
Ep 6 (Apr 18)
Oops, went almost the whole day without watching anything
finger sucking scene
Ouch
the conversation at the school is just so good man, like ouch but hopeful
hehe cute biking
Overall:
Ahh, idek why I wasn't Gripped by this rewatch, like I like the characters and dynamics but it wasn't keeping my attention as much, maybe because it's a rewatch? Maybe my original rating of 6.5 was correct and I shouldn't have bumped it up to 7 but who knows, maybe I'll be reintroduced to the brainworms after watching Season 2 because I found ep 6 really engaging and was into it and S2 + movie will have new, unfamiliar stories for me.
Season 2
Ep 1 (Apr 18)
How soon after S1 is this season starting?
akkkk "Are you angry?" "Why?" "Last night I was too persistent" alkdjfasd;lkf
It's weird to realize that like... I'm older than them. I was several years older than them when they were in high school and now I'm probably 1-2 years older than them because Hira said graduation is approaching but it's weird still idk
not Mr. Suspicious lmfaoo
Hira kneeling and crawling around really is just a lot
it's so funny how Hira trembles in Kiyoi's presence because he's apparently standing too close, meanwhile we know for a fact that they canonically fuck
Hira's persistent fear that Kiyoi might die ?!
they're both so constipated in different ways, I'm dying like Hira's extreme lack of confidence about his looks and sense of self vs Kiyoi obviously being in love with him and wanting to reassure him but also not being able to compliment him truthfully and sincerely
Kiyoi's every sentence is a trap lmfao
omg I was so distracted by her, she's gorgeous and I love the outfit and jewelry
Kiyoi seething with jealousy ahh
lolol "today we're gonna do it"
oh my goddd what a good episode, I was giggling and dying and so engaged, I'm glad I love it so far because I was kinda nervous after not being as enamoured by S1
Ep 2 (Apr 19)
ah, i'm clutching my heart, flashback to the scene of when Hira taught Kiyoi about the tea olives or whatever and Kiyoi just desperately wanted Hira to say he likes him
return of Suspicious-kun plss
Is the other guy who's there for Anna gonna be significant? Either as an Anna s/o as well or as a Kiyoi hater maybe?
does Kiyoi want their love life to be more exciting?
aksldfj why are each of them so annoying like Koyoma's being like yeah Hira doesn't shut the fuck up about you and your drama at school while Kiyoi's like "Is Koyoma saying he sees a side of Hira I don't see? Is he trying to assert dominance?" like girl both hira and him are just dumbasses god bless
Koyoma on Kiyoi's ass for freeloading off of Hira and letting Hira do all the housework while he just pursues his acting or whatever ohh
pls Hira treating this shitty food as if it's from Olympus
Ah, Hira joining the photography competition at Kiyoi's encouragement (though the pressure would make me buckle)
Ep 3 (Apr 19)
Hira not making it to the next round of the competition but Kiyoi still being supportive, I needed to see this rn tbh
oh my god this is so sad man, they're literally always just on different lines of thinking because Kiyoi wants to be treated as an equal in the relationship while Hira thinks it would be an insult to think of himself as ever reaching Kiyoi's status
but it's so sad the way Kiyoi wants to obviously be known as Hira's bf (even though they can't) and the way he's hurting knowing that Hira wants Kiyoi and his parents to be completely separate owwww
omg? Hira saying I don't want to understand you? fucked up fr
Their relationship is often somewhat tragic because of their dynamic and how they see themselves and the fact that what they want from the relationship is different but this ep is so sad man
Ep 4 (Apr 19)
ah, good thing Kiyoi came back because they only have 1 episode of 23 mins left and i don't want the ending to be rushed lol
sorry accidentally got the ick when Kiyoi came and ordered Hira to get ginger ale in front of everybody even though ik it's like Dynamics but still why in front of dumbass bullies smhh
Hira not liking Kiyoi saying it's fine if he doesn't get a job after uni bc he can take care of them makes sense but then smiling happily when Kiyoi says "fine, then work like a workhorse and if you mess anything up for me I'll throw you away" is sooooo
huh? Why Hira didn't submit anything?
oh it's a different thing that Hira didn't submit for? Because he did indeed submit for the contest
woah, gasped at the fact that Hira is kneeling but at eye-level/slight higher than Kiyoi instead of lowering himself as much as possible
Hira being fed chocolate by Kiyoi, ah
great, delightful
Overall:
This season is about Hira and Kiyoi's relationship. They didn't become boring after getting together, they didn't magically end up being a perfect happy well-adjusted couple after getting together, nor were there random issues thrown just because; the struggles and hurdles are true to their characters and dynamics.
I was a bit afraid that I'd be meh about it because I was like fine but not Hooked on the S1 rewatch but the S2 was great, for real. I liked the themes and dynamics it explored and their character + relationship development and progression. I also smiled a lot and lost my mind a little at certain moments.
Strong writing, strong characters, strong acting, what a relief.
Rating: 7/10
Movie: Eternal
No clue what the movie is about actually, though there are a few gifsets/moments that I've seen that didn't appear in the series, so much be from here. + I saw one comment saying that Anna and Noguchi are supposed to be there more in the movie. oh also actually?? a kidnapping plot?? i heard it mentioned in a podcast i think
omg they're each recounting how they met the other to their own mentors
not the shrine ?!?! omg
I really don't know how to feel about Anna's fan like do we need to kill him or what?
what does Hira mean by him and Kiyoi drifting apart?
hah the divorce thing is here, I loved the gifset when I saw it and have had it in my likes for Months, gonna finally be able to reblog it
i think i saw a gifset or clip in this bathtub scene and I'm a great enjoyer of people discussing their desire for dubcon/cnc roleplay
Idk if I hate that I keep skipping all their makeouts/allusion to sex scenes like aghhh
I've also seen this part about hira apologizing for not having same free time as Kiyoi and Kiyoi grabbing his face in his hand to say stop apologizing, you've tried your best. i like it a lot
wait are Anna and Noguchi dating? I wanna know who the person Anna was talking about who has her heart but they can rarely meet because they're in the same industry. and it'd have the parallel of Hira wanting to photograph Kiyoi while Noguchi gets to photograph Anna
Noguchi used to be a scenario photographer?
ah, Hira didn't show up to the shoot with Noguchi and Kiyoi
pls why are they both obsessed with this award, he doesn't even have regular professional photography experience c'mon girls
oh, Anna's bf is some random actor from another company.
her fan is being... fine for now.
Aw, Anna
dang, they're bringing Anna to live with Hira's cousin
So does the aunt know that Hira and Kiyoi are like a thing or does she still think their fan/friend lol
Hira saying only Kiyoi is allowed to call him creepy and such because he's special + Kiyoi being like "he's creepy right?" Anna: "yeah" Kiyoi: Hey!
Ouch, yeah Hira saying he doesn't know what to shoot is crazy
Oof, Hira and Anna dating scandal
It must be so funny if you're watching this without knowing about EA celebrity dating culture (though even in SK, actors can date) and being like ? why is this a scandal ?
but i'm unexpectedly getting a celebrity-centric BL without seeking it out, which is great, esp bc when I seek it out I don't tend to find too many which actually give me what I want
random het sob story in the middle of my Utsukushii Kare but I like Anna so I'll allow it for like... 2 minutes
Ah, the kidnapping lol
oh it really is the Anna fan fuckhead aghhh how terrible, he's been off since the start
pls saviour Hira
Hira gets to photograph Kiyoi professionally yay
deciding to have one subject as your photo subject is crazy if you wanna be a professional but alright I'll buy into it
ah, conversation about beauty and age
gorgeous ending
Overall:
Great, fun, though not as emotionally invested as Season 2 because they're in a better place in their relationship in this movie (even if it's not necessarily Perfect). It was interesting to have new people in their lives like Anna and Noguchi and how their stories influenced them. I'm happy with where we're leaving off the characters after ~6h of show/movie.

Thoughts on Trigun Stampede
I can see why this new (reboot-retelling-reimagining-prequel?) show may be divisive for fans of the OG ‘98 show. But for me it’s an improvement on the ‘98 version in a lot of ways (not all ways, but many).
The OG anime was the VERY FIRST anime I ever saw besides a few episodes of Sailor Moon or Pokémon that I may have caught while babysitting. I saw it in high school (2003-ish?) after a friend of mine cos-played Vash for an anime convention.
While I really enjoyed the show (specifically Vash’s arc and character), there was LOTS I didn’t like and it informed my hot-and-cold opinions on anime for a long time.
I adored Vash; I loved the world building of the planet and concept of the PLANTS; I really loved the dynamic between the 4 main protagonists. The music was bad ass. The thematic questions of when is it okay to choose who lives and dies (and whether humanity deserves to be saved) were excellently developed, and the Christian imagery was *chefs kiss*
But the show irritated me in a lot of ways too. I hated what I dubbed ‘face-changing’ when the animation style would shift so suddenly from serious to exaggerated. I found the character design of most of the villains (and Milly if I’m being honest-not her character, her design) to be largely ugly. The animation was stilted and the frame rates were sooooo low even in big fight scenes. And Knives I felt was under-utilized as a villain and his conclusion a bit rushed.
I re-watched the OG before I started watching Trigun Stampede and my opinion stayed pretty much the same (with the added exception that I found Vash’s objectification of women- facade or no- early in the show to not fit tonally with his overall character and was a bit squicky).
But now I’m watching the NEW version and….I’m SUPER digging it. Almost ALL of the things that I disliked about the 98 version have been removed or improved upon and MOST of the things I liked have remained or been updated.
The story has less filler overall. One COULD argue that it is ‘rushed’ but with the announcement of a second season, I really don’t feel like things from before have been removed, just delayed until a later part of the story. The show is more tonally consistent throughout, something I found jarring in the OG.
I feel like the villains, especially Knives, are legitimately threatening, and in some cases are given sympathetic backstories which made them more fleshed out. I appreciated, for instance, Vash being given a history with Monev/Rollo. It made that fight more meaningful since they had a connection to each-other beyond ‘I’ve been told to kill you’.
I still really enjoy Wolfwood as a character here, and am enjoying seeing more of his past. His relationship with Vash is still extremely gripping/endearing. Love the use of Needle-Noggin again.
I think they’ve done something smart with Meryl by giving her development beyond learning to love Vash. She starts out naive here, which is NOT how she is in the OG, but she’s still as driven. I think by shifting her development over 2 seasons and almost treating this season as her ‘backstory’ she’ll be more interesting and three-dimensional for it by the time the show concludes. Not that I disliked her in the original, I just found her more bland than Vash, Wolfwood, and even Milly, as she was a more static character.
Let’s talk about ANIMATION. As stated above, I have no nostalgia for the animation of the original. I found the face-changing off-putting, the secondary character and villain design outside of the main protagonists to be hard to even look at (I’m not including Vash, Wolfwood, Legato, Knives here as they all have excellent and unique designs) and the actual quality to be cheap and stilted.
While I DO think that the OG hand-drawn animation could be a bit more unique and expressive at times in its shadows and lighting (think Vash and his blue glowing eyes in silhouette), this updated CGI animation has almost everything else in its favour for me. No face-changing or off-model characters! Clean, crisp lines! Dynamic and fast-paced movement! Clear and unique characteristics coming across in weight and mass and angles! Beautiful set dressing! Fantastic colours everywhere! Energetic camera tracking! Jacket!
I will say that one thing I keep going back to as something the OG does slightly better is Vash himself. I think he’s just a tad TOO soft-spoken in this version and his comedic and goofy facade has been lost a bit. He’s still fundamentally the same person as the original and he’s so engaging and sympathetic as a character- that remains the same if not better- but I feel his ‘spark’ may have been lost a bit in the re-telling. I’m glad they kept his original voice actor for the update, and I like his more mature performance here.
I’m of two minds on his redesign as well. Part of me loves the new arm and jacket and fluffy hair, and part of me wishes he had a bit more ‘presence’ on screen. He seems…smaller, somehow? His facial expressions are just right, though! He has that ‘older-than-they-look' softness about him that really comes across in his eyes and voice. I’m excited to see if season two continues to bring back more elements of the original character (sleeker, more inconspicuous arm design, and buttoned up coat, for instance).
Overall I’ve enjoyed revisiting Trigun in general, and I’m happy to have a production that has taken something that I loved but saw as flawed, and polished it up a bit and made it shiny and new.
9/10 would recommend.

Singing With Legends Season Ranking
I saw some other people ranking the seasons so I wanted to put my thoughts to the void. Or feel free to message if you want to chit chat about the show! :>
My list would go season 1 as the best! Strongest message and execution with it being Fei Yu-ching's retirement show and truly did recapture the moment when he did the super popular collaboration with Jay Chou.
There was a stunning cast of seniors and "rookies" who were reimaging the classics. One flaw with season 1 is that if you lose you sing more which sounds backwards that a singing show would frame more singing as a punishment? Glad they fixed that aspect later on. The other flaw was the last pick sort of "punishment" when they pair the spares with Christopher Wong and Mimi Lee but they both had great stages despite their initial hesitance. I feel like their solution was worse later on where they have too many rookies and one leaves on the very first day.
Second would be season 3. It polishes over the season 2 hiccups and returns to form with George Lam as the focal singer. I think they just need an older singer to impress and provide feedback to whip the rest of the cast into shape. Chui Na Li Sha and Joker Xue was my favourite duo. Such powerhouse vocals and my favourite songs to come out of it. 违背的青春 is such a great song and it is just so funny when they missed the blocking so they were laughing it off during the song.
I also enjoyed George Lam and Hu Xia's team dynamic, clearly very mentoring here where George runs Hu Xia through the wringer!! Life of Numbers as a first duet is CRAZY. I really liked the team collab with 敢爱敢做 too, George's voice in the prechorus is so great. A+ to the suona player in 男儿当自强.
Season 4 is my third place pick, Rainie Yang and Priscilla Chan are great vocalists. I like that Priscilla performed 千千阙歌 with the iconic wedding dress look. 武家坡2021 with Jam Hsiao and Zhang Qi was also very memorable for me because they are rock singers but decided to try Peking Opera style singing. Pretty surprising but it turned out nice! It's great when we see more ancient styles getting revitalized.
Season 2 had the terrific Coco Lee!! I loved her as a kid and would listen to her CDs. We got 刀马旦 with GEM, and Di da di and Ready Now remix. I'm biased against Lil Ghost because I don't like rap but Coco Lee!! I'm writing this up and I realize I like season 2 more than season 5 when I was going to say they were tied. Other singers I liked were GAI, Curley G, Joey Yung with 小小 being a wonderful duet with the latter two.
Tengger from season 5 is my standout with his unique tone. The other teams definitely played it safe in terms of remixing (Wowkie aside, he always does quirky stages). They definitely still sound good but nothing memorable for me, Lemon Tree is one of my favourite songs but they certainly didn't add much more to the original arrangement. They had more idol singers in season 5.
I believe Season 6 isn't the same show as season 1 and it has really put it in a blender. I bet there was an issue with scheduling conflicts since previous seasons ran for so long. This season, they only have the guests stay on for two episodes, no longer in an A and B format. It's an unfortunate turn because now it feels like any other singing show instead of seeing the camaraderie they develop as pairs.
Will there be a season 7 at this rate :((( I am sure there are so many other singers would be happy to go for the full time and are lesser known power houses. I was personally surprised that Mao Buyi didn't show up in an earlier season, he would have completed the contemporary OST line up between Zhou Shen, Ayanga, and Liu Yuning.
I have really been enjoying Melody Journey instead this year! It pairs a singer with a songwriter instead of with a legend so the pair system still exists.
It features song of my favourite singers like Zhou Shen, Jane Zhang and Joker Xue!!

Warning! Spoiler from Sonic Rush Adventure and Continue from these
Punch: I want him to be free and want him to travel around the world as much as he wants.
Gigamesh: Me too. Both you and I never had a time since little when we could travel around the world as much as we wanted, unlike the prime world.
Punch: You're not age Mr Gilgamesh.....
Gilgamesh: At least I was once a child too even not from the earth!!
Punch: Sonic should go to the many places he wants....both two of us can't but Sonic can.....that's why.....my brother.....
Gilgamesh: As long as Eggman has done the bad stuff but for him to travel and gain experience. I think is worth it.
Punch: And play and kick some butt with that jerk Eggman that is pretty fun and not boring. I think is worth it.*Evil Laugh*
.
Gilgamesh: My childhood has already ended. I don't have a right to replace my brother's life. He has a will to live by his own freedom.
And in Sonic Rush Adventure
When Sonic and Tails are tracking a mysterious, unknown source of energy in the Tornado, when they are sucked into a hurricane. The two then find themselves on an island, where a raccoon girl, named Marine the Raccoon, takes care of the two when they woke up. She tells the dynamic duo that she wants to go adventuring. With this, the hedgehog and the fox set off for different islands, and the adventure begins. In this ending Tails says maybe they end up in Blaze's dimension because that is what Chaos Emeralds want not Sol Emeralds. (Not only reason Sonic and Blaze found out that the Emeralds brought them together once again, and did not threaten to destroy both worlds this time because they were stable) In this scene Sonic though why Chaos Emeralds acted on their own will, not Sonic, that's makes Sonic question because he was the only one who could use Chaos Emeralds until Blaze gives him the answer.
Blaze points out that the reason is from Sonic himself.
In this scene Sonic is shocked and later he changes to a happy smile because that's from Super Sonic or the other him that lives inside him not because Chaos Emeralds acted on their own will. Make Sonic felt happy because the other him tried to tell Sonic that the other him always be there for him even though Sonic wasn't the one who used Chaos Emeralds. No matter what happens or Sonic may get lost in the darkness or in danger, Super Sonic or the other him will be there for him, and want Sonic to know he has never been alone. The same reason in Sonic X, the other him agrees and though the same as Sonic, stays with Chris just a little longer and heals Chris' heart as the best as Sonic can as a friend.
"You know what, Chris? The moon is the same in this world, and in the other world." meaning "Even I am not here but I will always be there" The same means "I'm not staring at the moon and thinking about him!" and The same meaning as this one Source
Punch: Even this power belongs to you and to us, it's up to you when to use those powers. What you want to do it's up to you decided, not because of us but your own freedom.
Punch: You'll be fine. You already know that yourself, don't you? So don't throw away the kind you've become.
Sonic: I know I'll be fine, after all.....I've always been "me". I live by my own and my free will not from my brothers or from your memory.
Gilgamesh: That's right. You kinda remind me of myself when I made decisions to be responsible as a king for the first time. Well, this is where we part ways. Bye, Sonic.
Punch: Life is full of pitfalls but I know you've got what it takes to pull through. And don't worry. You'll do just find on your own.
Sonic: Bye, my brothers. Until we meet again. And thank you again.
Sonic: It only took you being there walking to make me happy. Being together, even though we weren't together.
#Analysis#opinion#tsubasa of phantasia#punch whalen#Tsofph Gilgamesh#super sonic#Still Punch and Gilgamesh are not the same as Shiki and SHIKI but they are hard to describe in words so stop here for now.#sonic analysis#sonic the hedgehog#Sonic Rush Adventure#sonic x#hint

100% concur w all of this--i don't think cameron quits 'for' chase in human error, but it's definitely in part because of him. in a world where chase isn't fired i don't think cameron was much longer for the fellowship; maybe she would've lasted for another six months (MAX), but we know as early as s1 that cameron is willing to quit the job if need be. by s2 we get some pretty strong hints that cameron isn't as happy in her job as she wants to be. this extends to her life in general, but it's interesting that the 'solution' offered to cameron's inertia in TB or not TB is a job offer with sebastian charles, and that one of the first things kalvin says to her in hunting is that she seems like the type to say she's very satisfied by her job and points out that this isn't the same thing as being happy. the fact that cameron specifically does meth on a 'school night' and comes into work still high the next morning feels pretty significant, especially when contrasted with the reaction thirteen gets when she comes into work still on ecstasy in lucky thirteen--cameron has none of the anxiety thirteen has about getting fired, although obviously the situations are different.
s3 is obviously kind of derailed by the whole fwb arc, but there's still plenty of hints that cameron probably isn't going to be in diagnostics forever--needle in a haystack is very much a Foreman Episode but the patient nevertheless namedrops all of the fellows as not having rings on their fingers, and, let's be real, you do not enter into a fwb arrangement with your coworker (no matter how mutual and agreeable the terms!) if you see yourself still working together in 5, 10 years time. cameron has fulfilled her 2 year fellowship contract by s3; i think in the back of her head she's planning to leave eventually.
and my big thing with cameron has always been that she seems to be the odd one out in the trio when it comes to why she started working for house in the first place. it's explicitly clear for foreman: he wants to prove himself and be the best (bootstrap moment), and the fellowship is prestigious enough that he can overlook just being hired for his juvie record. it's implicitly clear for chase: he wanted to get away from his father, from his past in australia, this job is the best thing that ever happened to him and he'd rather be seen as house's fellow than his father's son (AT LEAST FOR NOW). can you say the same for cameron? i agree, she genuinely enjoys working with the team while she's there--her little 'i'm being house! it's funny!' at the end of s1, coming into her own and giving back as good as she gets in s3 ('i'm in the room :/')--and i think there's something in her s1 speech to house ('my opinions shouldn't be rejected just because people don't like me') that implies she decided to work for house because she wanted to be heard and listened to (and i think this is why she takes almost a disproportionate amount of offence at being told she was hired because she's nice to look at) but...that's not the same as foreman and chase. foreman and chase want The Job; cameron wants to change hearts and minds, and it is abundantly clear by s3 that she is going to do neither of those things with house.
also the fellowship structure is actually pretty great for cameron specifically in that it's uniquely tailored to ensure she does get Heard but is also forced to take what she dishes out in equal measure, but like. at the end of s3 foreman is leaving and chase is in love with her. those dynamics are completely thrown off. in canon house tells cameron right before she quits that her office is now 'bigger than mine' i.e that he's not planning on hiring a replacement for chase or foreman--even if chase stays, it would just effectively be cameron vs house anyway (chase pushover moment) and i don't think she'd be satisfied by that for long. especially since, again, she now knows that there's no chance of her winning over house to her point of view. cameron would enjoy this setup for maybe 2 whole weeks and then start to hate it because without the distraction of inter-fellow drama it really would just be unstoppable force vs immovable object and that's frustrating for anyone, let alone CAMERON.
anyway, all this to say: i don't think cameron stays very long in a universe where chase isn't fired. i think that's sort of why chase is fired in the first place; human error is really an episode about embracing change. it ends with house buying a new guitar to replace the one he's had since he was a kid. we'd been building up to foreman leaving for ages; cameron has left once before (and while i think she was ecstatic that her Force My Boss To Date Me gambit worked, i don't think she was 100% certain that it would work even though she was full in her 'you're doing this because you can't handle your feelings for me' house delusion at this point); chase, on the other hand, was never going to leave that job unless pushed out of the nest. the writing was already on the wall for cameron, and i think house knew that. whether or not cameron and chase still date, on the other hand...
hard to say, but again i'm gonna say no. in a world where chase and cameron both stay on together under house for a few months more, i think when cameron does eventually (and inevitably) leave she goes further than just the emergency department at PPTH and probably gets a job in a different hospital entirely--then pats herself on the back for having such great impulse control and not getting anyone hurt and probably goes on to repeat the cycle with a new coworker LMAO. it might be different if house did end up hiring a foreman replacement and that catalysed things--either by making cam jealous or cameron and chase 'teaming up' or whatever--but as said above, house didn't seem that interested in hiring replacements. in a lot of ways the chameron relationship is very much right person/right time (switch out 'right' for 'wrong' as you see fit lmao); if the firing had happened any earlier or much later, i don't know if even that would have been enough to force cameron to come to terms with her feelings, so i definitely don't think she would've acted on them if chase had stayed. it's fun to think about, especially because i can see some substitute incidents that might have allowed it to happen--e.g if chase's father had died a year later than he did, if foreman had come back from mercy and chase and cameron were still on the team, if chase had quit (which would never happen, but nice to dream!) and cameron had stayed on willingly--but i do think the canon version is my favourite.
I know that if he hadn't gotten fired chase would've stayed for years, but how long do you think cameron would've stayed had everything else in human error gone the same? She'd definitely stay at the job and not gotten together with chase after right?
HARD TO SAY, very hard to say, tagging @eliotquillon who to me is the Cameron Whisperer but just spitballing here —
Cameron showed as early as S1 that she was willing to leave House if it felt necessary. Like yes, there was her whole crush/I'm quitting if you don't date me arc, but at the end of Heavy she's shown updating her CV, so quitting/being fired must have been on her mind even a little bit before that mess. There's also a whole mini arc in S2 (TB or Not TB and Hunting) that drives home that Cameron isn't particularly happy, that she doesn't really love her work, that she's stagnant. And this is kind of speculation, but it is interesting how quickly (and unnecessarily) she did quit in Human Error. To me that also implies it's been in the back of Cameron's mind for a while.
Cameron and House constantly butt heads over ethics and moral stances, and I do think Cameron enjoys that fight, but it seems to be based in part on the idea that she will win, that House can change or admit she's right. (In this way they're very similar: they both study people, try to understand them, just from very different angles. They both have to be right.) Speculation, but I think one of the reasons Cameron does leave in Human Error is because Chase gets fired. Not because she's making a gesture of support, but because House (in her words) is "kicking the dog." He's trying to make a point by taking it out on someone who doesn't deserve it.
In S1, Cameron has a whole speech about House only does things because they're right, not to help people but because it's the objective right thing. This is not that. Especially from Cameron's perspective, this is just an unfair lashing out that benefits only House. I think she was probably already a bit more disillusioned and felt stuck, and this was just the proof she needed that she wasn't going to get what she wanted from this job: House (seemingly) only cares about himself, and Cameron needs more than that. If not as the one House cares about, than as the person who gets him, who sees who he is. But House doesn't meet her expectations, again, and she goes.
Cameron does really like working for House, don't get me wrong. She struggles pretty hard in S4 with distancing herself from Diagnostics, which she eventually admits to Foreman. But she's also pretty clear that she doesn't really want to go back, that she loves emergency medicine (sort of the polar option of Diagnostics when you think about it). We all know how much Chase's relationship with House changed after he left, but so did hers. She's finally on an equal level with him now that she doesn't work for House; she has a much firmer footing and he doesn't/can't walk over her as much. She's much happier once she's gone, so I think she would have left eventually either way. She really didn't need all that much to push her out the door.
(But, if House didn't fire Chase and they both stayed… yeah, they probably don't date. Or they do, but it's after a Big Event. Cameron absolutely needs a Trigger to force herself to act on any feelings.)
#long ass post. SORRY#house md#allison cameron#robert chase#also to be clear im 100% on board w everything u say here too#and very flattered to be the cameron whisperer#what the fuck is going on with her ever i say longingly

what do you think will happen to Klaus next season?
Hi lovely anon!!! Also hi to the anon who asked me what I want to happen to Klaus in season 4. They’re both such similar (yet distinctly different) questions, so I’ll answer them both in this same post! I hope that’s okay.
Full spoilers for season 3 ahead!
So, firstly, I think season 4 is almost definitely going to begin with a time skip, exactly like season 2 did. All of the siblings separated in the last minutes of season 3, but I do think we have some distinct camps at play. Allison is back with her family. Diego and Lila are starting their own. I’m unsure where Five or Viktor are headed (but I imagine they’ll roughly stay put and try to acclimate to/investigate this new universe.
I do think Klaus and Luther will stick together at first, probably go looking for Sloane together. I also think sparrow Ben was headed in the same direction as them, so there’s a possibility Ben might tag along. Ben wants to look for his sister and would feel lost in this timeline on his own. Since I originally started this post, I’ve heard some people say it’s confirmed that Ben on the train is sparrow Ben, but I’m not sure how true that is. I hope it isn’t.
Now, I think Klaus and Luther, coming off season 3, is a FASCINATING pairing. You have the one who stayed loyal to Reginald with the one who did the most to rebel, yet ultimately had compassion for him. Season 1 Luther used to have reverence for Reginald, but by season 3 he self-actualised, became his own man outside of his father’s control and was less concerned with being the leader, or an asset to the team. Where in season 1, Luther did everything he could to try and stop the apocalypse, season 3 Luther seemed ready to make peace with the world ending.
And that’s Klaus’s story in reverse. With his drug addiction, Klaus did to himself what Reginald did to Viktor. As a teen, Klaus rendered himself less useful to the superhero team dynamic, but in season 3, Klaus’ exportation of their powers was vital to what Reginald needed. Where in season 1, Klaus seemed disinterested in saving the world, season 3 Klaus was so eager to help Reginald with his plan.
And now both have been used, manipulated by him. Both ended up in the void while Reginald led their family into Oblivion. They’re both going to feel betrayed, for different reasons. Klaus in episode 10 seemed aware that Reginald had reasons, and he seemed understanding. But he also knows that he’s been used, and Reginald didn’t seem to think he’d come back from the void.
And then there’s my point about powers. For Luther, I think he used to define himself by it, but now he doesn’t care. I think in season 4, Luther is going to be so happy to have his body back, to be totally undefined by his father, to be able to be the person he wants to be. And looking for Sloane is a part of that.
Whereas Klaus spent his adolescence and most of his adulthood trying to be powerless, only to spend so much time in season 3 developing them. And no, their powers don't give them inherent worth, but it feels like a stab in the back.
Plus, now Klaus knows that he's died 50+ times without realising it, that's gotta mess with your idea of mortality. Whatever Klaus was doing before, he died a lot, and now he can't. I think there could be some kind of... shock response to that. I think it'd be interesting for Klaus to feel like he needs to be cautious now, in a way he never was before.
And for Klaus himself, I don't know. What I think and what I want are two different things, I suppose. Seeing as Klaus' personal growth was all very positive this season, I think we've ended up with Klaus in a good place with himself. He's actually tried to tackle the route of his trauma, and seems to have a pretty good understanding of other people's too.
If they want to continue the progression of Klaus in the same direction that season 3 has taken their character, I would like an arc of Klaus finally finding some stability for himself. Klaus's life since leaving the Umbrella Academy seems to have included the Mothers of Agony, rehab, some unspecified time in prison and spending time at the Hotel Oblivion. And then a cult. Without powers, it could be interesting to see Klaus explore some hobbies, find himself, maybe befriend a stray cat, get a job. A "new timeline, new me" could have so many fun opportunities, opportunities which totally can still lead to Klaus getting pulled along by the plot. And this could lead to an interesting dynamic of Klaus still mourning what his life could’ve been, raised in a different environment.
Going off that train of thought, but leading into a less positive character journey, it’s likely that s4 is Klaus’ “obsession” season. Could it be that he’s made it his mission to get his powers back? Now he knows where he was born, he could probably hunt down to see if he’s got an alternate version in this timeline. Maybe he plans on tricking himself into a power transfer. Maybe it’s more accidental than that. Maybe he gets caught up in something plot related we can’t predict yet. Maybe he gets involved with Reginald somehow.
I also think Klaus had the most comic material to work with. I know the show has cemented itself as it’s own thing, but up until now they’ve liked to include aspects of the comics. Again, You Look Like Death and Hotel Oblivion both feature plots of Klaus being used for his powers, so perhaps could be implemented as past experiences - we know that show!Klaus HAS been involved with the biker gang. But I could plausibly see Klaus still going on some sort of Hollywood demon adventure, then getting his powers again that way.
And if any of those above ideas for focused on enough, maybe in conjunction, I wouldn’t rule out Klaus struggling, relapsing or regressing in some way. It’s not necessarily what I want, but if the show really focused in on him struggling to adapt to a new timeline, it could work. It could be a good way to explore people he’s lost. Klaus had Dave in 1967 and Ben in 1960, but maybe he doesn’t know how to be alone and build a new life. I really want to keep so much about him in season three, though. He seemed a lot more content in general this season.
Sorry if this is too long and rambling. Especially sorry that this took a week. But I loved these questions and I, for one, at excited to see what they do with Klaus next. Season 4 should be a big one for the character, so I hope it does get renewed!!! xx

SNS Dynamics - Sasuke's Perspective
Lengthy post ahead
On completing my rewatch of Naruto part I and part II, many things which never made sense started to make sense. One among them is the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. I used to ask why Naruto is going so far for Sasuke. And why Sasuke is helping out Naruto even though he wants to kill him. And I used to think that Episode 478 was retconned to make the final battle ends in a draw and Sasuke somehow made to reconcile with the titular character. Yet, I instinctively felt, ‘Something is very different about them’. But on careful rewatch, all the clues which consolidate their relationship was there. The way they love each other is totally on a different level and the creator very carefully planned this from the beginning of the Manga.
Though I really don’t like the ending for making every characters into a child rearing machine at an age of 20 to make way for an abomination called ‘Boruto’, I still loved everything till Episode 479.
I wanted to discuss about both Naruto and Sasuke's perspective. But that cannot be accommodated in a single post. So, I decided to start with Sasuke. Since Naruto's side of SNS is very open and vocal, we clearly knew what is going on in his mind. But Sasuke's side is usually very subtle but much more intense than Naruto which makes it worth analyzing.
Before getting to that, for most of the characters in the Naruto universe (I mean 99%), Sasuke is a person who looks cool, aloof, rude, overbearing, blunt, genius and emotionless. And that’s the truth. Except for Itachi and Naruto. So when I say he is rude or arrogant, it is from the people’s POV. And since I always see myself in Itachi, I see Sasuke as that adorable innocent child who is very honest but forgiving.
I strongly feel that Sasuke has some innocent enchantment towards Naruto ever since he lost his family which later transcended into a bond which cannot be put under Friendship or Bromance. Enchantment, here I meant by, is not in a sexual way but more like the unconscious need to be in the presence of other person. Like walking beside each other eternally. Or even warming up next to a campfire near a chilly beach. You don’t want to fall into the fire but just enjoy the warmth. It maybe totally a platonic love like many claims to be. But his absolute disinterest in any other characters (even just as a friend) and the following traits he shows only to Naruto are clearly not just distinctive of platonic love either. It’s completely beyond platonic.
The following are the traits which Sasuke shows only towards Naruto, could have been avoided or delegated to other characters if the creator really wanted to assert their relationship as just friendship. There are lot of subtexts and emotions which I cannot accept it under the guise of bromance or friendship. It’s just not possible. If someone you like shows all these traits to another person, you should stop thinking about that person and move on.
The traits are :
Preferential Treatment
Attentive
Protective
My body moved on its own
One and Only
Powerful Eyes
Unconscious Closeness
Preferential Treatment
This is the very basic and first thing you show to someone whom you love. Meaning, I will treat this person much different from everyone else. When I was exploring this trait, I couldn’t stop laughing in many places. Because Sasuke is such a trolling machine who mercilessly trolls people who are in his way. He also inspire certain amount of fear which makes him even more unapproachable.
He has this cold bearing where people find it extremely difficult to manage or approach him. It comes off as very rude most of the times. One such example is Sai told Sasuke that he will get along better with him than Naruto. Sasuke put a Genjutsu on him for comparing himself with Naruto. LOL.
What's more funny is most people (Sakura, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Sai, Hinata) usually talk to him politely with honorifics like 'Sasuke-kun'. But he didn't give two shits about them and shitted them all mercilessly.
Here is the infamous proposal from Sakura in part 1.
Well she deserved this one to be honest. Throughout the entire conversation Sasuke never saw her face and responded very bluntly even though she was pouring her heart out crying. There was no visible distress or sadness from Sasuke’s side.
Whereas with Naruto, in the final Valley of The End, we saw him turning towards Naruto and answer him properly when Naruto asked the same question of what Sakura asked. There were so many emotions throughout the battle and Sasuke’s pain of leaving Naruto was clearly shown. Which explains the difference of where Sasuke keeps Naruto in his heart.
The following is the one from Chunin Exams prelims where Sakura is begging for him to quit with tears. The response is an usual 'Stay out of my business'.
Me: Sasuke!!!! Even I don't know how to approach you!!!! I understand you don't like to talk unnecessarily so you just shitted on Sai. But Sakura is your teammate, isn't it?
And then there is this little orange blonde who literally trolls Sasuke.
I really thot Sasuke was going to trash Naruto too, like he could have easily said, 'Naruto, you should also stay out of my business'.
But then
These words are something precious for Naruto. He wished for these words to come from Sasuke someday in his lifetime. But not at that time. And he was truly shocked and very excited. Believe me, when watching that scene, it was really great. But while making analysis like this, it’s absolutely hilarious.
This dynamics is similar to
Sakura: *cries unbearably* Sasuke-kun, I am worried about you. Don’t act so strong.
Sasuke: Shut up. Mind your own business.
Naruto: Bastard! She is worried about you.
Sasuke: Alright, I love you. Now shut up.
ROOOFFFFL :-D
I thought all these childhood bickers were over by part 1 and we will never see it in part 2.
Nope. I was wrong. Kakashi and Sakura were the scapegoats here.
Here's another round of applause from Naruto.
And I honestly cannot comprehend what was going on in Sasuke's mind and why he is really rude to Sakura and Kakashi. It seems he was really irritated by their presence or he maybe thinking they were useless or both.
When Naruto asks him something, he responds without any insults. What baffles me most is that during Infinite Tsukuyomi, Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto for his Revolution and awaiting his fated battle. And yet he answers him properly.
Can you see the pattern here?
He shits on people asking some question even with an utmost polite attitude but when Naruto asks the same question he was like "Alright Sweetie, Am gonna answer anything you want and say anything you like".
The following is the beginning of everything where Naruto can't even swear properly but still Sasuke couldn't even bother.
In short, the way he treats Naruto is quite different and hilarious when compared to the others. With his cold bearing, he absolutely has no need to put up with Naruto's outburst but he still accepts without a care every time. RIP to those souls who got the short end of the stick.
He must have an extreme tolerance towards Naruto's tirades to the point where he can never insult him back. And I also believe 100% that, nobody dares to make such frequent insults on Sasuke to his face except Naruto.
I know SK shippers jump in here to say Naruto is not the only one. But still the dynamics between Karin and Sasuke is simply a mirror image of Naruto and Sasuke, probably she reminded him of Naruto and hence made some exceptions for her because Sasuke never gives a damn about any other clan other than his own, but when Kabuto tells him Karin belongs to Uzumaki clan, he was shocked. I am pretty sure the only other Uzumaki member he knew is none other than Naruto.
Now, does this means he is in super love with Naruto? No.
But the way he treats every other characters and how he treats Naruto exclusively speaks volumes and this trope shouldn’t have existed in the first place. The creator should have made Sasuke treat both of his teammates equally which could’ve deflected the shipping angle.
Attentive
Am not talking about how attentively he analyzes his enemies in the battles. Of course, in that department, Sasuke flies high. This is about how attentive he is to Naruto to the point where he can deduce what Naruto thinks and how Naruto looks without the need to communicate with him.
I know Sasuke suspected Sakura was acting strange before Chunin Exams when she said 'Good Morning' with some hesitation. But the difference here is that Sasuke can identify Naruto without even talking to him.
Funny thing here is that Sasuke was sitting somewhere far behind from Naruto and yet he could pick up Naruto getting freaked out without seeing his face.
Who could forget about the famous ‘Where’s real Naruto?’ episode during Chunin Exams?. It would’ve been fine if this happened once. But the creator went ahead and made this thing happen twice under entirely different situations. And everytime Sasuke can find fake Naruto without fail. This scene conveys Sasuke is very observant towards Naruto’s appearance & fighting skills (the way he evades an attack).
Now, being attentive to someone is not a special thing which attributes to love. But considering Sasuke’s personality who is aloof and focused on his own world, knowing Naruto like the back of his hand is way too descriptive. Only someone who really understands the other person or constantly paying attention can find out such subtle changes. It doesn’t end here.
This is the battle between Gaara and Naruto. Where Naruto was literally confused about how to save his friends from Gaara who is much more powerful. And yet Sasuke can find Naruto’s mood just by seeing him.
Me: Yes, Sasuke!!! Gaara happened to pass by Naruto and forgot to kill him on a whim!!! So, Naruto is scared to the shit!!
Also Me: You guys always bicker with each other and are not best of friends. Sasuke!!! How could you analyze his mood just by looking at Naruto????
In Shippuden, There’s no inner monologue like the above, but whenever Naruto appears before him (Orochimaru’s hideout, Bridge, War arc), Sasuke gives his undivided attention to him. He even went so far as to advice him to pay attention to the battle. And I was like “Wait!!! you wanted to kill him... why pay attention to him at all? Geez”.
As much as you want to think that Sasuke doesn’t care about anyone, he does care about Naruto to the point where he doesn’t want him to be worried. How thoughtful just for a ‘teammate’.
How did Sasuke knew that Naruto would worry about him?, I wonder.
But all these things started from this
This boy has been noticing Naruto from way back when he was around 7 when he lost his family. Of course he would know every little things about Naruto because for some undefinable reason he couldn’t stop paying his attention to Naruto. A lineup of girls vying for his attention because of his cool appearance, whereas Sasuke simply loved Naruto without any reservations but because of his childish and warm personality which reminded him of his family.
‘I couldn’t stop paying attention to you’ and in some translations the words were ‘I couldn’t take my eyes off you’. Either way, these words are not for someone you see just as a friend let alone a brother.
Protectiveness
I can go on and on about how protective Sasuke is towards Naruto. I can write a separate post about it. This is the most important aspects of this ship which makes it sail higher than any other ships.
Of course, this is the Ninja world where people wants to protect each other and at the same time kill each other too. Sasuke protecting Naruto and Naruto protecting Sasuke is not too special. In fact, one of the weak and pathetic character like Sakura was saved once in every three episodes by Naruto or Kakashi or even by Sasuke sometimes.
And yet here I am mentioning protectiveness as the most important aspect of this ship. So what differentiates?
The way Sasuke protects Naruto is one of the intense thing I’ve ever seen. When I watch this series, I gained this immense ability to put myself in other characters mind just like Naruto. When I put myself in Sasuke’s mind whenever he tried to protect Naruto under different conditions, I simply cannot put their relationship under Friendship.
Here, Naruto is fighting Gaara in part 1 and Naruto was repelled by his own attack from the paper bomb. Sasuke being already battered by his curse mark bruise and he couldn’t move an inch. And yet he is shielding Naruto even though it is completely unnecessary because Naruto bumping into a tree log is completely normal. The creator even went under a lot of pain to draw that panel which took 40% of the page.
Now you may question, many characters even died protecting someone. What’s so special with just shielding?
Like Hinata jumping in for suicide before Pain, Iruka blocking Mizuki’s attack, Tsunade blocking Orochimaru, Neji dying as a ‘Love Cupid’ for hinata and Naruto.... I can cite many things here. What’s common among them all is that they were all perfectly capable of moving around and yet decided to save Naruto.
But that’s not the only point.
Is there any need for him to save Naruto? No.
Will Naruto die if he didn’t shield him? No.
Then why? He could have spent that energy trying to do something for Sakura rather than do a pointless shielding.
And then there is Kushina.
Naruto’s mom was already on the verge of dying as she had Kurama extracted from her body and Jinchuriki without a Tailed Beast will die. Because of Uzumaki clan’s strong life force, she could hold off for a bit longer. When kurama attacked Naruto, she shielded him with her body and saved her son from an imminent death.
Even though Sasuke didn’t die shielding him, but there is a semblance.
Both protected Naruto even when their body condition is worse. That is, Protect at all cost attitude.
I intended to put Land of the Waves arc here as it is very similar to what happens with Kushina. But that’s for an upcoming section.
Now, as a Mother her instinct to protect Naruto is very strong.
But who is Naruto for Sasuke? What makes his instinct so strong to protect someone who is not even related by his blood? Until and unless you love that person dearly you won’t do it.
That brings me to the next thing.
Yeah, it kind of looks ‘very friendly’ to give a 3 layered protection to someone who is already powered up like you and most importantly you want to kill him.(Can I say that looks really romantic?). Anyways my point is different.
What really happens here is this
It is a well established fact that Minato, the Yellow Flash is the fastest shinobi in Narutoverse. It wasn’t surpassed yet. He uses the Hiraishin No Jutsu to teleport at the speed of light. It was invented by none other than Tobirama Senju who is the fastest shinobi of his time.
We basically have two fastest shinobi in the battlefield here. And Minato being the fastest among them, definitely don’t want to blow up near his son for whom he died protecting him once. He wanted to teleport somewhere away and before he could do it, Tobirama teleported the bomb back to Obito.
What many fails to notice here is that all these things are happening in mere seconds. But Sasuke realized it real quick as usual and protects Naruto in an instant. How fast his instinct you may ask? Quicker than the two fastest shinobi on the battlefield and one among them is Naruto’s dad.
What I want to say is Sasuke’s protective instinct is quicker than Naruto’s father and similar to Naruto’s mother.
And you know, I questioned myself during the Chunin Exams arc “I think in the Zabuza arc, Naruto conveniently happened to be near Sasuke, So he protected him at the cost of his life. What if Sakura happens to be there? Would he have done the same? Maybe he would’ve died protecting her too.”
But all of my questions were thrown into drain by Sasuke as if he was able to read my mind. The answer is “Hell! I don’t care if she died. That’s her loss. I will not die for her sake.”
This is really confusing, hilarious and romantic at the same time.
Me: Sasuke!!! I understand why you want to save Jugo... Even though you abandoned him in the Land of Iron. LOL. What are you going to do with Naruto anyway when the whole world is blasted off?
He proved this again in the Kaguya’s Lava dimension too. Before you tell me that he saved Naruto because he needs him to seal off Kaguya, the previous scenario nullifies your argument.
And SS wankers shamelessly defending that Sasuke don’t want Sakura to die by Kaguya’s hands, that’s why he left her to die. Geez!!! Who the hell is Sakura to Kaguya anyway? Even if she were to die by Kaguya’s hands, it would almost look like how Obito died. It’s not bad at all. But falling into the lava pit, burning, screaming.... sssshhhh. Wake the f**k up!!!
Now how can you convince me that this is just Friendship? What’s more funny is Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto later at some point. Throughout the War Arc I was always confused as to why Sasuke even care about Naruto at all? He didn’t care about him ever since he left him 3 or 4 years ago and he doesn’t have to. After all everyone have their own paths to walk on.
Even if I put myself in Sasuke’s mind and see Naruto just as a friend whom I want to kill, I wouldn’t go under so much pain to save him. I would feel like it’s better for him to die by something else rather than me. Because I can’t bring myself to kill someone I know well.
These scenes are not just put there by chance.
Such a strong reflex to protect someone is only possible when you consider that person’s life more than yours.
Does any other ship has such things to show? I’ll wait.
Yeah Sasuke protected Sakura from Orochimaru and Gaara. But he also went so far to wait for Karin and awakened a new power to protect her. So does this means he love those girls?? No. He was just showing a team camaraderie. But it’s funny that later, he tried to kill those girls knowing full well they are unprepared to fight him. While with Naruto, it always comes with a warning. Try to understand this difference. Which is exactly why I didn’t put Sasuke saving Naruto during his Chakra training, or falling from the waterfall and many more. Because they are just a team camaraderie.
I don’t even have to compare with other ships, did Sasuke ever protected anyone like this in the whole series?. These are the things which could’ve been avoided or handled in a different way, like there was no need to emphasize on saving Naruto alone while ignoring others.
My body moved on its own
I don’t need to explain this any deeper. There are many people who says Sasuke is incapable of showing his true feelings. He is cold, rude, aloof and stoic so he always hides his feelings for everyone (mostly this line was used by Sakura wankers who wanted to portray that Sasuke always loved Sakura deeply but never shows). But they fail to understand the irony that one of the most beautiful line in this entire series was told by none other than ‘Sasuke Uchiha’, “My body moved on its own”.
Yet I find Sasuke shows his honest and heartful emotions before the people he loves. If he can show that to Itachi and Naruto, why not with Sakura?
I know those wankers try to say Sasuke repressed all his feelings until Chapter 698, so he has some romantic feelings for Sakura too. Bullshit!!!
Even though he repressed those feelings in his mind, his body always betrays him in the end and his feelings pours out from time to time. That is what this section explores about.
Man, this is the most painful GIF I have ever made.
In his battle with Itachi, he was completely consumed by the feeling of revenge and hatred for his brother. But when Itachi approached him in his final moments with an intention (seemingly) to snatch his eyes, he still couldn't push Itachi away though he could have. Sasuke just looked into his eyes and let him do whatever he was about to do.
Why?, Because he loved his brother so much once that he don't know what to do but simply embrace that moment. These are the moments your mind says to close your eyes or even run away (he totally could have) but his body will not allow him to.
This is what I meant by your body betrays yourself. Even in your darkest moments, you cannot fake. You always show your true emotions towards the person you love. The more you suppress, the more it will burst out.
Here Sasuke’s hatred is glaring through his eyes because Sakura is persuading him to not do something he wants to (as always). His only motivation is to kill that man. His resolve is a real deal.
But in a matter of minutes after giving that long hateful speech with some heavy determination, when he saw that hungry blonde boy who was tied up for trying to steal food, Sasuke just acted on his own and served him food even though he was told not to which could jeopardize his career.
This bipolar dance is something to notice throughout the series and is always interesting to explore. When Sakura tries to dissuade Sasuke from something, he always retorts to insults or an angry stare. But when Naruto accidentally stands in Sasuke’s way, he always involuntarily helps him out.
In short, towards Sakura he was like “Even you cannot take that path away from me” but when turning towards Naruto, he was like “Well, I can risk everything for you at the cost of my path”.
This seals the real deal for SNS ship.
At this point, for us viewers, Naruto is just an orphan who has no friends but always carries his life with a positive spirit hoping that someday he will be accepted by everyone.
Unbeknownst the fact that he already has one person who was willing to die for him and putting all his dreams into fire.
Important thing to notice, It’s entirely at Naruto’s fault for them being in this situation. If Naruto had used a bit of brain to attack from outside the mirror, they wouldn’t have been in this situation. But still Sasuke plunged into the trap without any regrets. That’s the beauty of this scene.
What’s more thrilling is that the creator told us Sasuke loved Naruto in the very next chapter itself.
How?
By making Haku jump before Zabuza knowing full well that he is going to die which is not very different from how Sasuke shielded Naruto.
And not only that, but by making Naruto say “He really loved you”. I got to say the creator may sucks at writing Sakura and Hinata for God only knows for whatever twisted reasons. But when it comes to male characters like Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Obito... he was just amazing and on another level.
How?
By indirectly drawing parallels between Sasuke and Haku in a matter of successive chapters.
By dropping indirect hints and crumbs like these to tell us, the audience, the motivations of the characters.
I always had the thought why did he risked his life for a boy who always fights with him? This became more emotional when we get to know the real reason for why Sasuke risked his life much later in chapter 698.
Having faced all the turbulent things in his life, somehow seeing Naruto doing all those childish stuffs made him feel relieved. That warmth was what he needed at that time. He wanted to escape from it but couldn’t. That’s why he embraced his warmth unknowingly in his Team 7 days by constantly reaching out to him starting from asking tips, concerned about having breakfast and training with him to climb the tree.
Sasuke even come to like Naruto more than himself and that’s why he was willing to die for him.
This feeling is definitely not a bromance or friendship. It’s an innocent enchantment you hope to last forever. Which again explains why he tolerated Naruto’s insults and hostility all those times. Because Sasuke knew those childish things were the ones he got attracted to him ever since his childhood. Rather than saying tolerated, I should use the term enjoyed. He really enjoyed those moments being bugged by Naruto for no reason.
Because just like Itachi said to Sasuke once, ‘If you are excellent you become alienated and arrogant even though you were sought after at the beginning’ . But Naruto pestering him means he is very curious about Sasuke which no one else tried. He was adored by those girls for his coolness and revered by those boys for his excellence but nobody really tried to befriend him. But Naruto tried to befriend him through Rivalry. That’s why Sasuke unconsciously started to like him. This also explains why he roasted Sakura for badmouthing him even though Naruto attacked him and tied him up earlier.
If Sasuke can show all these feelings even though he was trying to suppress it towards Naruto and Itachi, Why can’t he show a single normal feeling towards Sakura??? Because there isn’t one. Except for an old Team 7 camaraderie where he saw her as an acquaintance and nothing more.
Many NH shippers claims, but Hinata loved her ‘Naruto-Kun’. She jumped in front of Naruto to save him from Pain, when in reality she just acted selfishly and couldn’t pull out the Chakra rods. Meaning she failed whatever she was about to do.
Another interesting thing to cite for NH shippers, they claim for Naruto, Hinata is the most important person his life. Since when? With that shitty movie called ‘The Last’ with shitty retconned stuff? In all the 699 chapters he always claimed Iruka Sensei and Sasuke were the important people in his life. And you know what? For Hinata to like Naruto, he has to jump in to save her from the bullies. But for Sasuke he just saved Naruto without any validation. He saw Naruto and liked his presence and just did it.
When you could accept that failed attempt as a love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto when in fact he succeeded in saving him and that too unconditionally?
This is one of the tropes which should have been avoided if the creator wanted Sasuke and Naruto to be just friends.
One and Only
This is something very special that is offered to that one person in his life. That is Naruto. Even Itachi knew it. That is the Power to influence Sasuke’s heart. This is the fact even Sasuke himself knew it and that’s why he wanted to kill him.
Now don’t compare this with the manipulation shit which Orochimaru and Obito were doing. It’s not that. Many Sasuke fanatics always blame Naruto that he is also manipulating Sasuke just like everyone. That’s totally wrong.
Manipulation is something you do by talking about some twisted facts and make the other person to do what you want to.
Naruto never did that. Ever. Whenever Naruto and Sasuke meet, they always talk about themselves and how they feel. Not the world, not Team 7 or anything. Which is exactly why Sasuke himself willingly left that space in his heart for Naruto when he left him in the Valley of the End which he badly wanted to destroy. Sasuke, of all people, know Naruto is also very honest.
Sasuke lost all his rationality when he went into darkness by stabbing Karin who was helping him in his battle with Danzo. She even replenished his chakra many times. He not only just stabbed her, after when he found her still alive, he decided to finish her off with his Chidori.
And then the pink haired bitch appears before him and started to concoct lies with malicious intent to kill him. This provoked Sasuke more and more to reach this point.
Believe me, when you are lost in darkness, all you need is a small light which can show you a path. Someone who can extend helping hands to lift you up with honesty.
Sakura, being a crass woman, riled up Sasuke further with full of nonsense.
If you want to picture the darkness,
This is exactly how Sasuke feels. He is in so much pain and don’t know how to face it or deal with it. So he started to destroy everything he sees. For him Karin, Sakura, Kakashi are all just some pebbles in his way and want to trample them as he goes. His entire life has become farce after knowing his beloved brother’s real pain and miseries. Now he has no one left from his family.
Until Naruto appears.
He may not be his family, but he is the only person left for him in this world. Which is established in many Naruto endings and even Sasuke himself accepts this with Sage of Six Paths.
But my Cherry Blossom queen really loved Sasuke, she only wanted the good of him. My question is ‘Then why the fuck she tried to kill him? She looked at Sasuke and find that he changed. She didn’t even bothered to find out what’s going on from his side.’ Then how is this considered as wanting only good for him?
Surprisingly Sasuke calmed down a bit, the moment Naruto appears and even started to respond to him which he didn’t before with Kakashi and Sakura. Deep down Sasuke himself knew in his heart that the path he is going through is Self-destructive. Just like Kurama tells Naruto ‘Destroy everything you see’ in the Pain arc when he sprouted upto Eighth Tail, Sasuke’s traumatic mind tells him to ‘Destroy Konoha’.
All he needed was someone to extend an helping hand to tell him what to do without any malice. Naruto did that. Just like what Minato did for Naruto in Pain arc.
After clashing Rasengan with Chidori ,they meet inside the White bubble space and Naruto talks to Sasuke which evoked all his past memories which he never wanted to awaken.
That’s why Sasuke was visibly shaken with Naruto’s words. Because those were the words which mirrors exactly how Sasuke feels too. He was surprised and shocked that Naruto also felt the same way without him ever openly confessing those feelings.
When everyone tried to kill him for his monstrosity, Naruto is the only person standing there seeing him as his friend. Just like how Iruka saw Naruto way back in 1st chapter.
Believe me, even at the depth of darkness, when you see the person you love so much, you will stop and rationalize.
That is exactly why Itachi left Sasuke in Naruto’s hands. He even admitted to Sasuke that his words will not reach him no matter what.
Sasuke may not have abandoned his ambitions at that point. But Naruto gave him a clear path. That is ‘Show all your hatred on me’ and then do whatever you want.
I know SS shippers will claim that back hug from Sakura changed his murderous behaviour during the Chunin Exams. Yes. That’s true. But right after that, when Sasuke was fighting Yoroi in a one-on-one combat, his Cursed Seal flares up again. He retracted that seal out of his sheer will and thought about both Sakura and Naruto who was freaking out without even knowing about the seal. So, it’s not only a Sakura exclusive moment. The creator even went ahead and drawn a panel asking Sakura to not say anything about the Curse Mark to Naruto. Why do that?
As far as I understand, Sasuke saw Naruto and felt the warmth of his family. He singled that out in chapter 698. When Naruto was placed in the same team as him, he started to extend his good side to his other team members as well. But the moment he decided to leave the village, he severed the ties with Sakura (was there ever one apart from considering her as a teammate?) by saying Thank You. Meaning, you helped me many times so thanks for all of that. What’s more pitiful is, he didn’t even look at her face for the entire conversation except for saying ‘You are really annoying’. There is nowhere in the manga where Sasuke singled out Sakura for making him feel anything and did something for her exclusively. It’s all in the context of Team 7.
If Sakura is the most important person in Sasuke’s life, he should have stopped the rampage the moment he saw her but instead he got riled up more and more. Which explains where Sasuke kept her in his heart. Literally nowhere. He threw her into the trash. LOL.
If Hulk can calm down after seeing Betty Ross and you call that love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto??
Powerful Eyes
You know, Even in real life, Our eyes always reflects our true feelings, just like how your body betrays your mind , your eyes even betray your body.
Just like how Itachi could never fake his evil brother act in his final moments.
Just like how Sasuke couldn’t turn away from Itachi when he was approaching him to seemingly snatch his eyes.
Uchiha boys being a romantic bunch, always expose their awakening/ reawakening/ evolving their Sharingan in a most distressed situation. Just like Madara and Sasuke exposed their brimming eyes for Hashirama and Naruto. But in this department, Madara is wildly romantic as always. LOL. Despite losing 3 brothers, he awakened his Sharingan only when he was breaking up with his ‘friend’. And Sasuke, he reawakened / evolved Sharingan when trying to save / breaking up with his ‘friend’. Such a Biological defect!!!!
Poor Sakura pathetically fails in this department.
Anyways this part is not about Sharingan anyway. It’s about how such a powerful eyes becomes powerless before those Blue Eyes.
Eye Symbolism is something I really enjoy exploring in this ship.
Like I mentioned earlier, Sasuke has never shown his emotions atleast starting from Part II. He usually never shows any positive emotions like happiness, laughing, pouting, love, excitement (although he has shown all these towards Itachi and Naruto) and is known for negative emotions like anger, annoyance, hatred.
Look at how Sasuke is glaring with hatred for her insensitive words. She deserved this to be honest.
Now, is there any need to show your fury towards Kabuto?
Since the beginning of the Shippuden, some facts have been established strongly:
1. Sasuke has changed by leaps and bounds in terms of his attitude and hatred.
2. Sharingan is pretty dangerous. Many characters including kurama acknowledges it. Sasuke is very adept at using his Sharingan.
Orochimaru maybe right. But he doesn’t know the weakness. LOL
His hatred has reached to a point where he couldn’t think anything rationally and started to kill everyone, just like how Naruto kicked Sakura in his 4 Tailed Kyuubi Mode engulfed with the hatred of Kurama. Meaning, to reach his goal, Sasuke will kill anyone in his path without any hesitation. This shot is the representation of this.
And yet when he saw those particular Blue eyes, he stops his rampage immediately and visibly shocked even. That’s the look of ‘why is that blue eyes here?’
You have every right to accuse me that I am over exaggerating this scene. I am not. Even I wanted to think that way too that I am deluding myself. The creator has only consolidated my view pretty strongly.
There’s no need to emphasize on eyes at all. The anime team has went under so much pain to animate this scene in a satisfying and compelling way.
What’s more? The creator even went under further extent to draw a whole page in the manga focusing on their eye contact after the Rasengan vs Chidori clash. Meaning, Sasuke has calmed down visibly and became very easy to reason with.
Trust me, even in your darker / vulnerable moments, your eyes will reflect your true feelings to the person you love. You cannot be stubborn.
Now did it stop here?? Nope, it happened again in the Final Valley of the End battle too.
Sasuke is usually confident of his Sharingan (rightfully so) and likes to flaunt his eyes just like Madara. He was very sure that he was going to win.
While Sasuke had a clear resolve to kill Naruto when he was showing his back, but the moment he comes close with those Blue Eyes, his heart even pounded strongly (in the anime), and lost the resolve completely which made his Sharingan retract itself unconsciously. Meaning, his eyes betrayed him.
It’s funny that not even a minute ago he was very proud of his Visual Prowess as an Uchiha and his victory is inevitable but the moment he saw those Blue eyes, he just lost. You think I am again exaggerating?. Nope!!!
Oh Dear!!! This doesn’t get more romantic than this. An inescapable gaze from those blue eyes he loved all along.
Sasuke!! What happened to your proud Uchiha eyes?. You just stole Chakra from Naruto, isn’t it? Hints like these are really heartwarming, to be honest.
My entire point is, every character from every arc hypes up Sharingan starting from Zabuza, Haku, Rock Lee, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Kurama and many more, but why put a weakness for Naruto’s eyes?
What I really loved exploring is the way Sasuke totally expressed everything through his eyes in Episode 478.
Sasuke shows his vulnerability towards Naruto with just his eyes. These are not something you show to everyone. Even when Itachi departed finally after releasing Edo Tensei, Sasuke looked sad, shocked and pained but didn’t cry. He accepted the reality of it. The last time when we saw him crying, it was after knowing the truth of Itachi, facing towards the beach and was weeping unbearably because there was no one else for him in this world. But this time, he is next to the person whom he feels truly loved and he doesn’t mind showing it with his eyes.
Well, on multiple rewatches, the clues for their love was already dropped in the 1st Valley of the End fight itself. Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by balling his chidori fist rather than ramming through his chest. So the feelings inside the bubble are their honest emotions like always.
The pain on the verge of their separation inside the white bubble is clearly evident from their eyes even in their monstrous form. Even in the manga it was mentioned that ‘I can’t turn my back Vs I am not letting you go’
But what they really wanted to be from their childhood was this.
Look at Sasuke, how entranced he was on looking at that innocent boy. Now put yourself at Sasuke’s mind. Will you ever look at your friend like that??? Now, they are probably just 7 here, am not romanticizing. But Sasuke looks enthralled innocently.
But somehow, their paths separated them for who knows how long. But the pain in both their eyes is unbearable. Even the databook, mentioned that separating from Naruto is like ripping half of his body. Well, this proves it.
Now, if they really wanted to portray this as friendship, they never should have given Eye symbolism at all. They should have gone with ‘I was always jealous of you’ thing, like they portrayed in that filler episode 450.I would’ve gladly accepted it as friendship. Because that’s how friends behave when they are jealous and I wasn’t feeling any romance at all. There’s no need of that lengthy monologue on how he was always looking at Naruto and felt pain.
I am telling you, I won’t be looking at my friend like this.
Unconscious closeness
Remember, I’ve written in the beginning of the post that Sasuke enjoys the warmth from Naruto. Meaning, he likes that person’s presence unconsciously and want to be near him. Sasuke proved this many times.
This is the most intense and confusing section I have to dissect for this post. But it’s the most entertaining nonetheless, atleast for me.
Starting from the Land of the Waves arc, here Sasuke is speed walking to match up with Naruto.
Initially I thought, he is trying to be competitive. But instead of walking ahead of Naruto to show who is faster, he just walks beside him. I find this really hilarious and adorable. This just shows Sasuke likes Naruto’s presence so much so that he wants to walk beside him.
Now many SS shippers tries to make this scene for themselves, when it is clearly not.
If you notice Sasuke in the Bell Training, he compares his strength difference with Kakashi and determines to get stronger. Same with Might Guy, he compares Might Guy’s speed with his own Sensei. Meaning, he respects people with strength. Naturally, he should’ve asked her and Sakura would have given him tips wholeheartedly. Because she really succeeded in that training.
Why bother to ask a deadlast?
The only reason I could find is that he wants to befriend him in his own stubborn way. But Poor Soul!!! He didn’t get the tips anyway. LOL. But despite getting the short end of the stick, he never hold it against him. Just like he never held anything against Naruto when he tied him up in Episode 3. All he did was just flaunt how he escaped.
Pretty cool for a 12 year old kid. Because If I were Sasuke, I would hold it for sure.
Once again Sasuke proves how he can care Naruto in his own adorable way.
He could’ve said ‘I am going to train too” if he really intended to train. There is no need to say ‘Going for a Walk’ and ask Naruto about breakfast. This explains that Sasuke simply missed the boy’s prolonged absence and reached out to him in his own cute way.
Now all these doesn’t mean he was in love with him. It’s just a childish attraction which makes him act like that involuntarily.
I just added this GIF to compare with the next scene.
Now Shikamaru falling on Naruto in an unconventional way doesn’t look anywhere romantic. Instead it’s the opposite. They are pretty friendly here.
But Sasuke’s approach to Naruto does looks undeniably sensual and I couldn’t deny the sexual tension that brings with it. (Even when I watched it for the first time having no idea of shipping anyone, I lowkey got creeped and thought, ‘Sasuke!! What have you become? ’)
This scene is something even I can’t dissect. Because honestly I don’t know. Sasuke is a person who never appreciates physical touches nor does he initiates either.
I get this crazy femme fatale vibe when seeing Sasuke with his sexy costume landing at a speed of lightning with his hands wrapped around Naruto and taunting near his ear about what was he doing there? The only reason I could think of is that maybe he missed him for 3 years which made him go unconsciously so close near Naruto. It’s also funny that he could’ve shoved his sword into Naruto’s heart before landing and no one could’ve batted an eyelid.
Damn you, Kishimoto!!! Is this scene absolutely necessary??? What are you trying to convey? Why do you give Sasuke, a sexualized aura?? I understand you love this character so much and you want this character to be desirable among women. Yeah, you succeeded by making Karin behave like a woman in heat, the moment they met. But instead of letting her get close to him, you made Sasuke to say ‘You... Don’t get so close’ whereas with Naruto, you made Sasuke to go willingly touch him in a half hugging stance. Geez!!!
Here comes the most interesting part in this section.
It may seem irrelevant at the beginning but trust me, it will make sense later.
Before that, I would like to appreciate the creator and especially the anime team to bring the battle sequence so lively and different in its own way. If you notice the purpose of every battle that happened in Naruto series, each carries it own meaning and deliberately distinguished. How you ask?
The fight between Deidara vs Sasuke.
Logically Deidara should be dead in the Gaara retrieval arc itself. There is no point for him to chase Sasuke who killed Orochimaru to whom Deidara had nothing to do with. It didn’t impact the story in any way. But the purpose of that battle is to show how far Sasuke has grown up in those 3 years. The way he can use his Sharingan to analyze his enemies abilities and weakness so quickly and take multiple steps ahead, the way he can use Genjutsu and other incredible jutsus in his arsenal were a visual treat.
Now, let’s analyze Sasuke’s arsenal of Jutsus. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, a decent Genjutsu, Chidori Senbon (needles), Raikiri (Chidori sword which ranges to 5 metres), Chidori Nagash (Chidori from his whole body), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu Shuriken Jutsu with wire works, Kirin, Gokakyu No jutsu, Sword fighting, basic Hand-to-Hand fighting (I’ve never seen him do it ever since the Chunin Exams with Orochimaru), Archery fighting, Susanoo, Amaterasu and all the Rinnegan abilities.
Based on the jutsus he learned so far and how he applies in every battle, it all confirms two things:
Sasuke is a Medium-Long Range Shinobi
Sasuke’s battles are usually based on his Cleverness
Let’s go for Naruto. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, Sexy Jutsu, Harem no jutsu, Rasengan, Rasen Shuriken, Oodama Rasengan, Biju Dama, Tailed Beast Mode, Kage Bunshin No jutsu, Sage mode jutsu, Frog Kumite, Better Hand-to-Hand combat skills (better than Sasuke), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu and all his Six path abilities.
Compared to Sasuke, Naruto’s jutsu variety is very less. But for every 4 punches from Sasuke equals 1 powerful punch from Naruto. Analyzing all of them,
Naruto is a Close-Range Shinobi except for his Rasen Shuriken
Naruto’s battles are usually based on his Jutsu Timing and Unpredictability
Now, Let’s rewind back to 3 years and look at the 1st Valley of the End battle. That battle was cleverly choreographed which carried very intense emotional baggage. Things we never knew about those boys until then were openly admitted and acknowledged. That is, for Sasuke, Naruto became his closest friend. For Naruto, he always wanted to be Sasuke’s friend way back when he was 6 or 7. For both, they already have some unexplainable bond by just looking at each other and smiling secretly.
The theme of that battle started as Am going on my own path vs I can’t allow you to tread on that dangerous path and ended up with I want to break our bond vs I don’t want to.
Now, this posture represents, Naruto is the one who pursues Sasuke to stop him from whatever he was about to do. Meaning, Naruto is the one who is constantly reaching out and Sasuke as usual kicks him out violently, that is he is pushing him away. That’s the essence of the whole battle.
Considering all the battles in the Naruto universe, I categorize them as follows:
Best Calculated (and emotional) battle - Itachi vs Sasuke
Best Hand-to-Hand combat - Kakashi vs Obito (what a fight it was!!!)
Best Mega Powered Up battle - Hashirama vs Madara
Best Emotional battle - Naruto vs Sasuke (1st valley of the end)
Best Unpredictable/Entertaining battle - Naruto vs Pain
Despite having all the potential to fulfill the above categories, The Final Valley of the End Battle never bested in any of them.
As analyzed before, the boys have grown up to greater heights. I expected a battle between Cleverness of Sasuke Vs Unpredictability of Naruto
But what I observed was something so intense. That is Unintentional closeness.
This battle symbolizes one thing: I am going to kill you to get lonely vs I won’t let you kill me because you will be alone.
Being a long range fighter, I expected Sasuke to go for this.
If you have to kill someone you love, it is best to keep your distance. Sasuke knows this full well when he battled with Itachi. Except for some Sword fighting, he maintained a certain distance to fight Itachi throughout, until the very end.
But when fighting Naruto, all I got was this.
That’s when I finally understood that this posture means, the fight is very personal. Which means, Sasuke or Naruto won’t be fighting by sitting on top of each other with their enemies or anyone else. That’s just between them alone.
There was no analysis or cleverness from Sasuke’s side or any Unpredictability from Naruto. It was very bland and Sasuke looked clueless throughout the fight.
It started with some boxing style combat, including stealing hand seals and then some power punches. Very quickly it propels to Susanoo vs Tailed Beast mode. I expected some Hashirama vs Madara level power battle.
But all we saw there was this.
I mean, Come on!!! Man. Even the most Crazy and openly Romantic Uchiha, Madara himself never fought like this in Susanoo with Hashirama (Though Madara must be thinking ‘Damn Hashirama! I should’ve tried this with you’. LOL). Those mega battles carried variety of tactics.
Another thing I noticed was, Sasuke is the one who does lots of talking and constantly pursuing Naruto. Whereas Naruto is uncharacteristically quiet for the most part.
And finally it leads to this.
Sasuke was unconsciously getting closer and closer to Naruto which is the opposite of what he wants to do. Because of that very closeness, he couldn’t look at his eyes with his Sharingan and eventually got an uppercut. It’s like Sasuke was screaming, ‘Hate me’ and Naruto was like ‘Keep talking’.
Every jutsu he had for attacking from a long-range were forgotten. He didn’t even try to put Naruto under Genjutsu. I mean with his Rinnegan, he was capable of putting all the 9 Tailed Beasts into a powerful Genjutsu. Why didn’t he try that with Naruto? There was no Chidori Stream or Lightning Blade.
I can imagine Naruto doing close range fights with someone or even sitting on top of the enemy. Example, part I, Naruto head bumped Gaara. He was literally fighting with his Shadow Clones against a Monster so he had to get closer. Naruto monstrously punching Deidara not knowing the fact that it was a clay clone.
But Sasuke??? Can you imagine Sasuke sitting on top of the enemy and punching to pulp??? No way. Not a chance.!!!
In one way or other way, Sasuke was always in the close proximity with Naruto throughout the battle and touching each other which is totally uncharacteristic of him when compared to his other battles.
Every battle he ever fought was always at a distance which is the clear representation of his own character. He is calculative, analytical, precise and moves fluidly with a flair like a true Ninja unlike Naruto who is always reckless, noisy, powerful and clumsy.
Sasuke is someone who never lets his emotions get ahead in the battle, unlike Naruto. This is evident from the War when he was yelling at Naruto to stop worrying about Hokage as they were Edo Tensei who can regenerate. Even when fighting with Itachi, he calculated every move and attacked Itachi without any emotions except at the very end. Sasuke in this final battle forgot who he was and telling us viewers “Am just gonna get closer to Naruto and punch him hard”.
In short, Sasuke completely forgot all his battle tactics he had with Itachi and let his emotions get ahead of his cleverness and got himself closer to Naruto which eventually ended up weakening his resolve to kill him. This is what I meant by Unintentional Closeness.
Anyways, what I understood was, the creator didn’t put all this by without any meaning. It’s all very deliberate and drawn carefully.
Moving onto the final and the most defining moments of SNS.
When I watched this scene for the first time, I can’t comprehend the exact meaning. And I forgot about this later because of my excitement to know what happens next. But what I understood on my rewatch is that, the feelings exchanged here is very pure and innocent but distressing.
Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by not ramming Naruto with Chidori instead balled up his fist. So he is not contemplating whether or not to kill Naruto.
Sasuke made every effort to leave Naruto and succeeded in it too. But somehow, accidentally, when faced with a person whom he considers so precious in such a close proximity, despite have a stinging pain in his arm, he is feeling the warmth he once felt. He just wants that warmth to prolong for some more time and he can’t able to evade it. So he totally gave in to that desire and feeling it unconsciously. Sasuke always watched Naruto (unbeknownst to him) and felt warmth, relief and weakness. This scene is the symbolic and innocent representation of all those feelings when he saw Naruto and he is exeriencing it for the final time.
Does this means, does Sasuke wants to kiss him? No.
But every symbolism of that being happening is there. It’s just all open to interpretations. The creator could show us how Sasuke fell on his knees and staring at Naruto intently but never intended to show when he got up and left. I don’t understand this twisted mind of the creator.
Added to that, Sasuke was about to say ‘Naruto, I....’ God only knows what he was about to say. But every possibility of Sasuke confessing and kissing is there.
I know the creator cannot approach this directly considering the situations he worked under. But is there any necessity for such an intense scene? Even the anime creators loved this scene and made their own version of making Naruto’s eyes wide open and even more closer.
I wont be watching my friend or sister like that.
That explains all the way back to this fated accidental scene.
There is nothing special about this scene. It’s all very clear that the kiss was accidental. It was really funny. But my point is why Sasuke never beat him to pulp or even push Naruto away like he did with Sakura and Karin? Why did he stood up for Naruto before Sakura? Why did he let go off Naruto even though he tied him up? Too many leeway for a single person in a single episode. And the most important part is, Sasuke thought it was intentional and remembers the taste. LOL.
Does this means he enjoyed the kiss? Not at all.
Most probably he was shocked to see Naruto in such a close proximity after seeing him from a distance for all those years. And he enjoys this as just another prank from Naruto in his own innocent way. But he won’t mind getting another one from Naruto either.
So, to conclude
I believe I made this post from an objective standpoint without making crazy theories and I don’t have to..... since canonical resources were plenty. Obviously my own bias will also be there which is unavoidable. But I tried to question the creative choices of why this scene even exist in the first place many times. Because those are the scenes which made the most impact inside me.
My first watch of Naruto gave me the benefit of doubt that ‘Are they in love? Nah... They are friends. Maybe I am just overthinking... but why does it feel different??’ and that too only after finishing episode 478. After rewatching it again and again, it only consolidated my view.
For Sasuke, his worldly ties are pretty thin and runny. He was always a loner from the beginning even when he had his family. He never bothered to make any friends nor did anyone tried to befriend him. He was pretty close to his family especially Itachi. When he lost everything, somehow he got attracted innocently to Naruto and started to like him. But beyond Naruto he never bothered to add anyone in his heart. He considered Kakashi and Sakura were like his acquaintances who helped him a lot and that’s all.
Then after using Orochimaru, he gathered some high skilled shinobi for killing Itachi. But he made it clear that there don’t need to be any understanding but just co-operation would be enough. But along his way, he just abandoned Jugo, Suigetsu somewhere. He openly said to Karin that she is nothing but a burden to him. When his hatred reached upto a maximum boiling point, he didn’t even hesitate to kill Karin, Kakashi or Sakura. But the moment Naruto appears he calmed down. The proof? He was shocked to see Naruto at first. Then Naruto calls, ‘Sasuke!!!’, to which Sasuke responds with, ‘What?’. Despite becoming a maniac, he could find it in his heart to listen to Naruto.
It took an Edo Tenseified Itachi to bring him some rationality to question his beliefs about destroying Konoha. When Jugo and Suigetsu appear again, he casually asked them, ‘What do you want with me at this point?’, I mean, Come On, Man. LOL. Even during the war arc, when things were about to blast off he only cared about Jugo (who helped him many times, so understandable) and Naruto (Geez!!! LOL).
Even after their final battle, the anime went so far as to create a scene where they were alone in a bright Konoha. But Sasuke looked very peaceful and listening to Naruto intently. When Naruto freaks out about Infinite Tsukuyomi, he casually laughs off and says ‘you still care about the world’. Meaning, he is happy there spending time alone with the person he loves. Doesn’t give a rat’s ass about missing anyone else. (How romantic!!!). Honestly, Sasuke wouldn’t mind if they were to stay that way forever. He would gladly listen to Naruto all day. But when Naruto disappears he freaks out and starting to make up his mind about joining his brother.
It’s very clear that the people he adores are Itachi and Naruto. Towards Itachi, it’s super understandable, because he is his own brother. But Naruto??? Why should the creator go so far as to make Sasuke adores Naruto even after breaking up with him?
And why make Sasuke possessive about Naruto’s life? When Obito was about to kill Naruto with that Black Orbs, Sasuke blocked him and said ‘You are not the One to sever the past, I am’. I understand the logic behind Sasuke’s possessiveness on Itachi’s life because he destroyed his family, childhood and even Itachi wants Sasuke to be the one to kill him. But why possessive on Naruto? He is not related to him by blood. Naruto never did anything wrong to Sasuke to warrant any hate either. You will become possessive on something only when you truly hate it or wholeheartedly love it. There is no middle ground. My point is why put Naruto here at all in the first place?? Believe me, If Sasuke never paid attention to Naruto in the War arc, I would be the first person to jump out of this ship.
Just to give you a basic example, Imagine you are living in a place far away from your family, friends and that loveable person. When Corona hits everywhere and forced Lockdown to travel outside the city, and the situation is getting worse day by day. Whom would you desperately reach out first? You would reach the person whom you are connected well in your family and that loved one. You will prioritize your friends only later. This is the Universal truth. Sasuke was seen showing that same instinct in the War arc towards Naruto whom he was not related by blood. And you all just want me to believe Sasuke sees him as just a friend?? Give me a break!!!
If all those traits I’ve mentioned above have been avoided to a greater extent, I would be happy to believe that they are friends. If not all, at the very least delegate some of the tropes to other people or share some of the tropes with other people along with Naruto. But dumping it all on Naruto alone makes me only curious and incredibly romantic too.
It’s no wonder, Naruto would go so far as to reach out Sasuke even at the expense of his life.
Oh, Did I forget about the cutest and most exclusive trope to SNS?
U-SU-RA-TON-KA-CHI, the most personal word which carries its own meaning and is only for Naruto. So funny that Sasuke has to spend a certain amount of energy to call Naruto using a 6 syllabic word rather than NA-RU-TO, a 3 syllabic word which is much easier.
Disclaimer: This post constituted everything from from Chapter 1 to 699 or Episode 1 to 135 (part 1) + Episode 1 to 479 (Shippuden) excluding fillers. Though Sasuke shinden novel was made into anime, I don’t want to consider that here. As much as I loved the prologue in that novel, I still don’t want to cite that here, as I consider everything after 699 is $$$$ making bullshit.
FUN FACT:
If you put yourself in any character in the Naruto Universe except for Naruto, and ask them, ‘What do you think about Sasuke?’. You know the answer from Sakura, she will say ‘Sasuke-Kun looks very cool and acts aloof, that’s why I love him’. Kakashi will say ‘My favorite student’. And all the other people will say somewhat similar, ‘He is an excellent Shinobi who belongs to the proud Uchiha clan and Naruto’s rival’
But Naruto will be the only person to say this.
“Lot of fun to be around” ....... LOLLLLL.
Me: No, Naruto!!! Clearly not. No one in your universe can have fun with him except you. Go and Ask Sai, Team Taka or your own Team 7. They adore him for being Cool and Talented. But Fun is not the word that equates with Sasuke unless there is no You, Naruto.
Thanks for reading :-D

@bluedaddysgirl
Clearly Vander's betrayal changed him deeply, to the point he claims he isn't even the same man.
This I agree with. I think pre betrayal Silco is basically fair game. I think basically any headcanon from "Silco was an awkward Powder like runt who Vander took pity on and saw potential in" to "he was already angry and paranoid and irritable, but also extremely smart and a great planer" to "he was the happiest, funniest, sexiest guy in town" are totally valid.
LOL I guess you're assuming the people just erected that? Considering who Vander was to Silco, I'm certain he had it erected himself. That, or allowed people to have it there.
I definitely lean towards somebody else made it and allowed it to stay (which imo does show that he isn't the stereotypical villain who wants to eradicate the memory of his predecessor/competitor/enemy). Why? Because Ekko signed it and I just doubt that Ekko would sign a statue that was erected by Silco. It's of course not impossible, but I just personally doubt it.
He plays Marcus like a fiddle for nearly a decade.
He also antagonizes him needlessly and treats him openly with disdain. Now he definitely doesn't have to be nice to him, Marcus is a Topsider, the enemy, he has no reason to play nice. But it's a good example of where Silco could have tried to feign some sort of emotional connection and been charming (especially since he reveals to us that he thinks that Marcus has hero ambitions, but he doesn't play into it). But he doesn't have to so he doesn't. He manages to string Marcus along despite being mean to him and insulting him in every single meeting they have (and that is before he knows Vi is back). Because he knows Marcus weaknesses, so he doesn't have to be nice, so he isn't.
Like I'm sure he could have tried some version of "oh, you are so much more talented and better than Grayson, you should have her job" or "yes those shitty stuckup topsider aristocrats who treat you like dirt and don't appreciate you". Instead he openly treats Marcus like a whore and just throws money at him even though it's pretty clear and imo Silco is completely aware that this probably bothers Marcus immensely (because according to Silco Marcus dreams of being a hero). It's a powerplay to do it because he knows Marcus can't escape the situation even if he hates it.
(compare that to Mel who likely has a low opinion of the bearded council guy but hides it so he's completely clueless)
We also see plenty of other instances of him being somewhat needlessly mean to people.
Like:
And that is one of the goons who has been with him since the olden days, right`? And who didn't really have anything to do with fucking up the mission.
And yes, unlike with Marcus where it has been a dynamic since the first time they meet in episodes 2 and 3, one could argue he is under a lot of additional stress, but I would also argue that people don't seem necessarily shocked by his behavior.
I would argue that Silco acts like he can just buy himself out of every situation.
You have to give them something to dream of, and good pay/good reasons to follow *you* specifically.
I doubt that there was that much competition in town for revolutionaries who actually do stuff rather than just bullshitting and don't screw you over. ;) And good passionate speeches are important for groups like that. Which doesn't mean that didn't get along with people in his pre-betrayal days because he was less jaded. Or that he didn't get along better with people because back then he didn't have the money and power to force it on people pre Act 2.
Silco is somebody who lapses into speeches. He does it with the chem baron. He does it to convince Deckard. He almost lapses into it with Vander. Jinx complains that he sermonizes too much. It's definitely his thing. It's what he tries to use when the chem factory gets destroyed, it's what he tries to use on Sevika. Holding a big speech is his go-to tool. So I head canon that he was at the very least a very rambly kind of guy. Whether in public getting up speeches or over a beer.
And we know why Sevika chose him. Not because she likes him so much, but because the other guy is not good enough at the job.
As for other goons and their loyalty we have:
Again if Silco had a staff who secretly loves and adores him, this is the point where he would say "You don't know who you're messing with" or something similar. Not "He'll kill me". (granted, he could be talking about Marcus here, but I would like to point out that we never actually see Marcus kill anybody on screen and the only time he genuinely tries he can't pull the trigger, so would Marcus who Silco openly treats with disdain be the person who has the goon shaking in his boots?)
Or take his symbol, the Eye of Zaun.
It pretty heavily signals "I'm watching you". When he could have chosen something rousing and patriotic. To me this just isn't the symbol of the demeanor of somebody who cares about being liked or popular and invests that much effort into it.
Again this idea of power through fear is a thread from things apparently he taught Jinx "Be what they fear, Jinx." to what his strategy is in Act 1 "The only way to defeat a superior enemy is to stop at nothing. To become what they fear."
And yes, any single testimony that the people dislike or fear Silco you can discount.
Caitlyn => yeah she has been interviewing people and investigating the case for a long time, but she's a green enforcer who has never been in the undercity before and before this was too dumb to realize that Silco was the mastermind
Vi => she just got out of prison. what does she know
Ekko => so he has been around for a while, but he is angry about Benzo so he is not a reliable witness
Babette => oh maybe she was just lying to Vi
Mek => oh, maybe he meant Marcus or he was just trying to look sympathetic in front of the enforcer
Sevika indicated that people will keep making assassination attempts and that she would leave him if somebody better came along => ah, she's just joking
Or maybe the Occam's razor is that people just don't like Silco a ton because he is kind of distant and often mean and condescending to people he deals with? And either threatens them or pays them? (or gives speeches or lectures them) And the reason why they don't like him isn't because he is inherently unlikable, but because he doesn't put an effort into being liked, because he only cares about achieving his cause, because his trust issues mean he doesn't want to be emotionally close to people and thinks he has the money and power to get away with not being nice and achieve his goal anyway, because he would rather rule through fear than care about being liked.
(for the record: I actually do think there is at least a tiny chance that Silco will get a statue in season 2 and that there are people who liked him for being ruthless and getting things done. But I just feel with how they are telling the story it's pretty unlikely that there will be some sort of magic turnaround where a ton of people are revealed to really like him/that he was actually quite beloved and people mourn that he is gone)
I don't think that's the profile of someone who is cold/bad with people.
He is not bad with people, he just isn't personable/nice/friendly with them excluding rare exceptions (like with Ren, where it still clearly serves his purpose, it just shows that he can do it if he wants to, it doesn't benefit him if she's crying and wailing, it might just make Marcus panic, doing it like that might be even creepier to him). I don't think that he is cold towards people because he is internally emotionally cold himself. I think he keeps a distance between himself and others because of The Betrayal. He is the "I have been hurt so I'm never going to let anybody close again and keep everybody at arm's length (except Jinx)".
That's why he keeps telling Jinx that EVERYBODY will betray her. Not "Vi is a bad person she will betray you, like Vander betrayed me, because she is just like Vander", not "Vi will betray you because she betrayed you before". To tell Jinx that everybody will betray her except him, she can't trust anybody except him is an incredibly awful and horrific and harmful thing to tell her (like... I'm not holding my breath for Sevika comforting Jinx in the aftermath of episode 9 and Jinx letting it happen after Silco just told her "It's only us", just told her that nobody is trustworthy). So him actually believing that and by that extent "no he doesn't actually like and trust and emotionally care for any of his supposed allies, he cares only for Jinx" is actually the friendlier interpretation of his character compared to "actually he has a ton of cordial relationships with other people, he just manipulates Jinx into not having any).
I would argue his desperation to hold on to Jinx suggests that inside he loves deeply and needily. And post betrayal Silco loves only Jinx because a past experience literally scarred him. He is cold to others and focuses all his love on only Jinx (my take: because he sees himself in her and it's his way of being kind and gentle to himself).
He is extremely good at reading people. And I definitely subscribe to the idea that he could be charming. I just think post portrayal Silco doesn't. Whether it's "hurt others so they can't hurt you" or "being nice doesn't protect you from betrayal, so it's a waste of time". (that said if people want to headcanon that he is mean/want to rule through fear because he is bad at being traditionally nice and friendly charming (or he lost his confidence after the Betrayal and the Scarring), sure, I happen to prefer the read that he could be nice and personable he just chooses not to, because he hates all people and thinks they can't be trusted [also: the reason why he is indifferent to the Shimmer deaths of his supposed beloved children of Zaun] )
IMO particularly Act 2 and 3 Silco is somebody who takes care of his resources. That's why even when they fuck up like Marcus he keeps giving them another chance. That's why even in Act 1 he pays attention enough to tell them to give Deckard a meal. He does not sit down with Deckard to bond with him. He delegates it to others (just like he delegates it to Marcus to spread money to the families of the dead enforcers) and when he and Deckard "bond" he speechifies and lectures him. He understands what people want (like power for example or getting back at enforcers) and promises it to them.
I headcanon that Act 1 Silco had some money (enough to bribe Marcus), but people probably followed him because of ideology, because he promised them that he would do something when others wouldn't, because he promised them power. Act 2/3 it doesn't seem strange to me that people would still be with him just because he is a good enough boss for Zaun standards and in addition to that he is also the biggest game in town now. I don't have to personally be chummy with my boss to keep working.
Silco is clearly good enough with children to persuade Ren
I agree that he is good with her. But to me it's just as plausible that this is something he learned through Jinx not something he necessarily must have had pre-Jinx.
Personally, I don't go here or there in a hard way on whether he had children skills. I do think that I personally don't think that post-betrayal Silco was nice to random children before Powder. And I don't think that Ren proves that he likes children in general. Being nice to her serves his purpose and he does topple over her game in the end. (and he isn't particularly sympathetic to the death of Renni's son). So I see it more that he has the skills to treat children well, but I don't think that he really likes or cares about any children other than Jinx. (again: was generally up for killing Vander's children when they showed up (and was up for sending them to jail), which doesn't mean that I think he likes killing children, I wouldn't put it past him that he avoids it (maybe because he figures most children are not calculating enough for betrayal yet) and just likes threatening it because it's very effective)
[which again says nothing about fanfic. Stuff can still be fun in fanfic even if I don't buy that the characters are actually like that in canon. Plus if it makes thing more entertaining and sexy and touching in fanfic, I'm all for it. Like the fact that I never in a million years buy that Caitlyn would work undercover as a prostitute in a brothel is not going to stop me from enjoying a story like that. Or like that Ekko would never be in chem baron no matter what universe is not going to stop me from thinking it's a sexy idea for a fanart]

10 Anti LO Asks
1. im sorry, yall cant tell me RS is some peak of writing when she can't even keep a tone consistent in a single episode. one second its a horrific sequence of violence and abuse for shock value, then the next second theyre making slapstick "jokes" and making goofy expressions. its good to have moments of comedy and lighter episodes to break up the tension, but those tonal whiplashes cant be forced together in nearly every episode. it just gives away rachel doesn't know what she's doing.
2. IDK why RS sounds so angry in her break post? Yeah it's very obvious it was Webtoons making her to do it but them finally showing some care for their creators to not burn out isn't a bad thing? I doubt the writing will improve or the art will go back to its former standard once it comes back, its too late for that now and her former style has been gone since 2019, but having a break isn't a bad idea. I know she isn't used to actually being told what to do by Webtoons is right in this scenario.
From OP: So, from another webtoon creator on twitter, the Remarried Empress creator went on break and only got like 1/10 of their income when they came back. Other webtoon creators were also saying that while on break, their income is basically non-existent. This might not be the reason RS wouldn’t want a break but this is a pretty understandable reason, especially since it’ll affect her livelihood.
3. I don't think an asexually budded kid would have hades lusting after them, i think it would be bad in the fact hades clearly only sees family through biological means. the bad dynamic would be in he wouldnt accept the child because theyre not what he wants because theyre not from him physically. if that wasnt the case he would have doted after young thanatos like a prince since he would be the child he never had, not mistreat and abuse him like how hades actually treated him as a literal child.
4. it should also be pointed out stuff like PJO and Hades game almost entirely get critiqued because they actually implement being diverse and inclusive and even (gasp) have main characters and relationship be BIPOC and LGBTQ+, so it's usually pissy white kids hating on them, meanwhile LO critics are the exact opposite in being overwhelming BIPOC queer women and people calling out its main gross, status quo protecting choices and regrssive ideals. i'm just saying their critiques are not the same.
5. LMAOOOO guys what if the "dread queen" persephone we see isnt actually her, but the asexuality budded heir she makes for hades? like RS just puts all P's negative traits in this kid (Melinoe maybe? she is the goddess of nightmares) and has her be the dread bringer while P gets to stay the uwu precious bean queen, and its just a fake out of her "daughter" being confused for her because theyre clones of each other. the panel stays canon w/o actually developing P. thats my fan theory now.
6. tbh if LO started out with the more simple style there would still be art critique but not to such a degree now. we saw how much effort it used to have, so to see such a stark decline since then opens it up way more to criticism for it, because we do know what it once was, and it seems both pure laziness and burn out has caused it to entirely go away. even rs' non lo art now is all in the more current rushed style, so its safe to say that old style is just not coming back, sorry to say :(
7. i feel like a lot of the stans dont get that a lot of frustration at LO is the fact its a very subpar product, especially now, made by an entitled white woman who constantly whines about "haters" who gets everything handed to her for her mediocre work (which is often the work of her underpaid team), meanwhile many more talented, hardworking, and diverse creators (like her own co-workers) who are making so much better products are left in the dirt. How is that not frustrating?
8. I feel like the anon who likes Thanatos and Minthe being likeable and the anon talking about Persephone never being able to stand up for herself/ never being punished go well together.
Minthe and Thanatos do face consequences for their actions. Hermes doing more souls behind Hades back made Thaantos look worse on paper and Hades chewed his ass out for it. Thanatos went to Helios and was burned. We even see Thanatos get nervous when Daphne talks about a Persephone. He’s aware of his actions and what may happen.
Minthe is also aware of her faults actions etc. after she slaps hades she says she needs to apologize, she knows what she did was wrong to Persephone when she sees it on the camera and freaks out. She even wonders why Persephone hasn’t ratted her out yet until it’s used as black mail. Minthe apologizes to hades right before she knows they’re gonna fight about the break up. She even sulks after her fight with Thetis but doesn’t blame anyone else but herself. I’m excluding when Hades fires her because Hades brought her as an employee first into his life girlfriend second and treated her as disposable and tried to smooth things over by just throwing money at her(I’ll pay for your schooling if you never try to bring up the fact I dumped you for a 19 year old, no hard feelings right?;)
But Persephone the worst she is aware is that she’s bad at her job that she doesn’t even do any more. Persephone is just a cloud in the sky not aware of her own actions but that’s fine since they have no consequences and if there’s almost consequences don’t worry hades will throw money at the problem.
I wouldn’t say Minthe and Thanatos are likeable because they face consequences but they’re more rounded out characters with flaws, power in their narrative, overcoming and hiding faults.
9. Persephone telling Hades she will explain to him why torturing mortals is wrong and why Elysium is needed is basically "I can fix him" narration. Change my mind
10. That’s it too bc other than Hers and Persephone (which really isn’t a “mentor” relationship and has some rather gross things about it considering Hera only cares about her for Hades’ sake) there’s no genuinely good female relationships of any sort. Daphne and the nymphs are just said “to be like sisters” to Persephone but we see no actual proof of this. There’s no good mother and daughter relationships with Demeter, Métis, Leto, even Hera to her own children. The only decent mother relationship is towards Rhea and her SON Hades. Minthe and Thetis were horribly toxic with Thetis especially taking advantage of Minthe. Artemis and Persephone aren’t friends at all, Persephone is instead closer to a guy who had her kidnapped and basically forced her to admit she was SA’d to him! Hera only likes Echo because she’s “one of the good ones” and it’s a gross repeat of HxP being a boss lusting after their worker, but it’s a #diversity win because it’s between two women? I suppose the only “ok” female relationship is Athena and Hestia, but that also comes with the fact they’re the only confirmed LGBTQ+ rep used to oppress the poor straight couple, are still hyper gendered in their designs, and from Rachel’s own mouth is deeply ace-phobic and a horrible depiction of actual gay relationships. For something claiming to be about women and female empowerment, it fails on every front to even show women as anything other than props for the mens’ consumption and benefit.
