hey, i was wondering what materials you used for your cuphead cosplay's cup!(if you don't mind sharing ofc)

of course!!! i actually got my materials from DMing another cosplayer i was inspired by (@theendofsomethingbeautiful on insta) about her headband so it would be disgraceful not to share as well :^)

the main component is half of a giant candy capsule from Party City, like this:

 i used the clear part of a red ball because it was the larger half (it’s opposite for blue) and because it’d obviously be easier to paint. so then,- white spray paint- white craft foam and hot glue (rim of cup, straw, and a layer of “liquid” inside to attach the straw to)- model magic or whatever lightweight clay (handle)- headband obvs

my one issue is the cup keeps falling off the headband bc its just hot glued but its easy to fix. you could probably sand down the capsule end to have a SLIGHTLY flatter butt, or use power tools and screw it in; but im way too lazy for any of that.

A little after-con selfie with Julia (aka best Zelda). Today was honestly amazing. I thought that today was going to be terrible to be honest. Our costumes weren't finished (still aren't), I had to cancel our photoshoot, and I just wasn't feeling so hot about going today. But hanging out with some familiar faces and seeing the hard work I've done so far come together made today awesome. A photographer (@theendofsomethingbeautiful ) offered to take our photos and they're so beautiful omg. I also met @casacosplay who will be cosplaying Riju at the Zelda meetup tomorrow, so some Zelda trash will happen. And omg I met @sharkbaroness who was wearing their amazing gjinka Prince Sidon and I couldn't even. Now we're headed home so I can work on some more pieces of my costume. Sadly, Julia won't be coming back tomorrow, but today was honestly so great it doesn't even matter. Everyone's all Leon Chiro at Katsu which I totally understand and get buuuut.... I'm like this cosplayer though. I'd rather meet him any day. Do you have any tips for a photography student and beginner cosplayer on how to do good cosplay photos? Thank you.

Heya!~ I think the biggest and most important thing as cliche as it will sound it practice. The way I shoot now is so different from when I started, but thats a good thing, art is all about progression. I also recommend getting to know your equipment as best as you can as each camera functions differently and will take different photos, even under the same settings as other cameras. A good way to get a feel for it is to take an bendable action figure and take different shots of it in different environments so you dont have to worry about having a subject to shoot. Other than that, just make sure that everything is framed properly on camera (good headroom, things are visible, sharp focus, and people dont look too stiff) I have some highlighted stories on my instagram (@theendofsomethingbeautiful) where I break down photos I post and give tips on how to frame them if that helps! Last but not least, websites I recommend for photog tips are Phlearn and Fstoppers. They are great communities with free tips left and right to add to your arsenal of knowledge. And Id also like to add if you ever want any kind constructive criticism, I’m more than happy to help!
