SO IM REREADING THE EAST BLUE SAGA OF ONE PIECE CAUSE IM AT THE IMPEL DOWN ARC IN THE ANIME AND NEED COMFORT
AND ITS SANJI AND HIS DREAM OF FINDING THE ALL BLUE
SOMEBODY PROBABLY THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE, BUT WHAT IF THE ALL BLUE DOESN’T EXIST YET!!!
What if what if it’s gonna be made instead!!!!
cause I saw spoilers of there being a prophecy that a man in a straw hat would destroy Fishman Island, which is underneath the Red Line, right? also directly underneath Mary Geoise, which is filled with scumbags and the shitty World Government!! What if when Fishman Island is destroyed because the mountain on top of it is completely demolished???
So so what if the All Blue is gonna be made when the Grand Line connects fully!! Also also it might be possible for the Calm Belts to be gone???? But like, this is the only way I can think of where the All Blue would exist, cause an entire ocean can’t exist where nobody knows when the world is sectioned so neatly, right??? So that means the barriers disappear!!! Thus creating the All Blue!!!!
Oh oh but also- if it doesn’t (yet) exist then how do people know about it? PROPHECIES AND THE VOID CENTURY AND PONEGLYPHS
IT’S ALL GONNA CONNECT, METAPHORICALLY AND LITERALLY IM TELLING YOOUUUUUU

"Harley" Might be most important Chapter in One Piece history
Holy cow...I can't believe that Oda was holding out this incredible backstory on us for the world of One Piece. This is a myth on par with the oldest myths in human history. ABSOLUTE FIRE CHAPTER #OnePiece #Onepiecechapter1138 #HarleyMural #VoidCentury
One Piece Chapter 1138 Review/Recap Just who was the Sun God, Nika? For that matter, who was the man known to history as Joy Boy? One Piece fans have known about Joy Boy since Fishman Island. However, it wasn’t until the Wano Country Arc that we learned about the existence of Nika. That arc would not only reveal that the two were one and the same, but Luffy inherited their powers. Everything we…

studying world literature rn and what if the one piece is just a story? like a written down tale of joyboy and the void century and all that? roger and crew laughed because of the story they were being told. it'd be cool to (as the audience) be taken back to that time in the same way we were with oden's tale

so i feel like at this point, the only question about who the clan of D are is whether they are the descendants of the Royal family of the secret futuristic kingdom or if they are descendants of the survivors of that kingdom in general… and the Nefertari family could have been connected to that kingdom by marriage/blood making them Ds as well (and explaining them secretly working to preserve the history)
edit: also… wonder if the Trafalgar family hid the D initial cause they were more careful than some other families (eg. maybe cause of the last few generations choosing to live calmer lives as doctors and wanted to lay low since they weren’t physical combatants) or if they were also living in another kingdom at the time of the war (similar to what i’m assuming was the case with the nefertari family) and decided to lay low by hiding their name
#i’m sure people have already reached this conclusion but just putting it here anyway#there is still the question of why they are so special and a bunch of questions about the kingdom#but i feel like this is the most obvious explanation of how people get the D name itself#egghead spoilers#one piece meta#nefertari vivi#nefertari D lili#the void century#one piece#one piece egghead

I don't think we give Jonathan Harker nearly enough credit for his absolutely unhinged choices. In 1897, that pathetic wet cat of a man was written with enough grit, willpower, and raw human stupidity to rival any of our modern horror podcast protagonists. When faced with a centuries-old vampire, in a coffin, drenched in fresh blood, he really thought the best thing to do was to hit it in the face WITH A SHOVEL. The audacity. The misplaced confidence. The sheer desperation. No plan. No hesitation. Running on fear and spite alone. And i fucking love him for it. Truly the character of all time.
#it's like he was written to be a podcast protagonist over a century before horror podcasts existed#imagine what a group therapy session with jonathan harker + arthur lester + jon sims would look like#man i should really get round to writing a dracula x malevolent x tma crossover...#jonathan harker#dracula#bram stoker's dracula#dracula daily#gothic literature#horror podcasts#lit student screams into the void

Random QL Superlatives: 2024 Edition
My friends! It is time once again to reflect back on the year and give out some random ass awards to the things that gave me joy in the many QLs I watched.
In no particular order, this year’s winners:
Best Long Term Glow Up: Off Jumpol as Jane in The Trainee
I've been simping for Jumpol since the Puppy Honey days, because I know potential when I see it! This year the rest of y'all finally caught up with me and realized this man is aging like a fine wine. We all won!
Most Valuable Prop: Aoyanagi Hajime Standee, I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama
Will anything ever make me laugh as hard as Akafuji opening the door to Aoyanagi Hajime while holding an Aoyanagi Hajime standee and then running for his life, standee tucked under his arm, to escape the mortification? If so, it's def another joke from this show.
Best Heart Destroying Angst: Every Moment of Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
Sometimes you just want a show to break your heart into a million tiny pieces and then stitch it back together, and there is no better version of that experience this year than this beautiful show.
Wackiest Premise That Somehow Works: Caged Again
Whomst could have predicted that a BL about a penguin who turns into a human, goes to high school, and falls in love with a panther would be one of the sweetest, most compelling stories of the year.
Most Precious Bean: Taishin, Takara's Treasure
Just look at his cute little face!! My son has never done anything wrong in his life. He's adorable and I won't hear a word against him.
Drama Child of the Year: Young San, Century of Love
My soul fully tried to leave my body every time this child appeared on screen. I must congratulate this child actor--his name is Chayanan Akkharadumrongdet--on perfectly embodying the spirit of an old man trapped in a tiny body. Give this boy an award!
Best Love Theme: Di Inakala by Paul Pablo, Marahuyo Project
youtube
Such a gorgeous song, first used while King reads Ino's letter and realizes Ino has feelings for him. Hits me right in the chest every time I hear it.
Best Sex Scene - Almond and Latte's first time, Knock Knock Boys
Everyone else can throw in the towel, this is the best depiction of a loving but awkward first time that will ever be committed to film.
Star of My Vision Board: Yako, She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat
Oprah said it best: “She is the mother I never had, she is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person.”
Outstanding Achievement in Old Man Yaoi: Mr. Mitsuya's Planned Feeding
It's not every day that a show manages to sell you on a 20+ year age gap, but this one did it without breaking a sweat and had us all rooting for Ishida to eat that old man up with a spoon.
Best Sight Gag: Rock Lifting Karan Over His Shoulder, Cherry Magic Thailand
Is it the way Rock bends down and grabs him with no warning? The way Karan still does a polite wai over his shoulder? The way Dujdao scurries after them? Idk but it's been 10 months and I am still laughing.
Best Absolute Mindfuck: Love for Love's Sake
Sometimes a scene from this drama will flash through my mind and I'll have to spend a few minutes just staring at the wall, and that's how you know it was damn good.
Most Brainrot Inducing: Unknown
The way this story had a chokehold on my brain for three entire months was no joke.
Swooniest Love Interest: Mahasamut, Love Sea
Just look at this glorious man! And on top of all that visual splendor, he's kind and generous and brave and smart and competent and high key a smart ass. In this house we love Mahasamut!
Best Classic Watch: The Miracle of Teddy Bear
The most delightfully surprising watch of the year for me, and a great reminder to never, ever trust anything MDL commenters say about a show.
Y'all know the drill: feel free to join in and post your own superlatives, and please tag me if you do!

SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE CH. 1138
Vibes for this chapter:

Now that my hands have stopped shaking, here are my main take aways. This is gonna be a super long word vomit, so just be prepared:
Shamrock is aware of Shanks (they might have met) and seems disappointed that Shanks likes chilling with ✨the commoners✨
If Shamrock’s sword has the Cerberus-Cerberus Fruit, that means that the theory of Blackbeard having it is debunked
The Shiki-looking figure made a reappearance when Luffy was talking about Shank’s family and seems to be approaching the castle, so we might meet them soon
THE MURAL AND HARLEY
I wonder if there will be a specific character that made the mural, who we’ll be introduced to later. Ripley’s line about “a child’s dream” stood out to me
Due to the “Three Worlds” that Robin reads about, I’m assuming that it’s basically confirmed that there have been 3 holders of the Nika fruit, that coincided with the 3 world-changing events (the first Nika, Joyboy, and now Luffy)
There are 3 demon-like figures, one for each world. I assume they represent the foe that each Nika rose up against, but are they different? Are they the same? Are they all Imu? Only Oda can tell
And here’s everything I took note of on the mural:
The First World
The forbidden sun — power source? Devil Fruits???
Seems like it caused the separation of the earth and the sky/heavens
Lots of factory imagery
Who were the slavers?
The figures (the slaves) carry sun/starburst things. Are these the forbidden sun? Devil fruits? They seem to be throwing them toward the Second World part of the mural, where “embers of war” are mentioned
BIG SNAKE, SERPENT OF HELL, WHO ARE YOU???
The Second World
“The God of the Forest sent forth demons” — is this about devil fruits? Fruits grow on trees (duh) and then obviously demons = devils. And later, it talks about the Sea becoming enraged
Mentions of people belonging to the Half-Moon and the Moon. What is the difference? Is this referencing the Lunarians?
“Humanity killed the Sun, and then ascended to divinity” — they killed Nika or Joyboy? Seems to be about the Celestial Dragons
“The God of the Sea became enraged” — about the rising of the sea levels?
bruh, the boats look like Enel’s ship. If Enel comes back, I’ll lose my mind
The Third World
Where we are now. The final arc. What we should expect. The future.
References the Void Century and how the Elders and Imu remember what happened and what might happen (“the day of promise”)
“They will surely meet again” Who? The reunion of everything that was separated in the First and Second Worlds? The reunion of all the gods that were mentioned?
The mural is amazing and there are so many details throughout, but especially in this section
Obviously there’s Nika/Joyboy (Luffy) leading an army against a figure that’s probably Imu
Under Imu, there’s a boat with figures in white uniforms — Marines/the World Gov
In Nika’s army, there are figures that represent: giants, minks, lunarians, mermaids and fishmen, samurai/ninja/people from Wano, a robot (Emet?), dwarves/tontatta, Sea Kings/Laboon (the whale), and a ship with a flag that looks like the Alabasta kingdom’s flag (@sabo-torao’s post brought my attention to that, shoutout to them)
There are so many details that I probably missed and so many things that Oda probably hasn’t explored yet, but will and I’m so excited
But TLDR: Oda cooked, Lore Piece is real, this chapter was fantastic, and the final war arc is gonna blow my mind

I know that fandom often clowns on this statement

from Law (about needing to take down monsters to learn about history), taking it as proof that he's somehow not fighting for freedom or that

freedom of expression is not something important that has been sanctified ratified in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. (Article 19)
But that it is instead some nerdish pastime that no other character in One Piece or the real world is invested in (WG or otherwise) for obvious reasons of power, politics and freedom/repression.
But there are governments and organisations that regularly suppress this kind of expression (in One Piece and the real world--no surprise):

There are governments and organisations that fear the pursuit of knowledge:
Partial SBS: Volume 86: Pedro led the Nox expedition party who were chased by the government for searching for poneglyphs, thus they became the Nox Pirates. That's a story from about 15 years ago.

And there are governments and organisations that penalise people by taking their lives

for seeking out knowledge. 👆👇

From Clover,

to Nico Olvia,

to Rayleigh,

to
(Egghead Arc spoilers under the cut)
to Pedro,
to the giants (👇 read right to left),

to Vegapunk

the power and desire to learn about history is emphasised and

honoured,
(from chapter 396 👆)

(from chapter 1066 👆)
and also acknowledged as a very dangerous undertaking.

And even Cora talks to Law about

the meaning behind the Will of D. not being lost, BUT "living on in the dark shadows of history around the world" (it's not easily seen either).
Like, knowing history and access to history/knowledge is one of the main themes of the manga. And Big Mom is a monster. And the World Government is a repressive monolith. And this guy (guy?) 👇:

nuking places and people for not toeing the line, or for knowing too much; riddled with antipathy towards holders of the Will of D. and, with Artur's (Library of Ohara) claim (among others) that the ancient immense kingdom was formed by descendants of the D. clan (which is canon)—

—then wouldn't you too be curious and more than a little pissed off that your curiosity could be the catalyst for persecution and genocide?
That searching for identity, roots...your reason for being, is not allowed? (Sound familiar?)
Like, those scholarly waters are nothing if not shark-infested.
Ultimately the pen (Robin's ability to read the poneglyphs, the scholars' meticulous research) probably will be mightier than the sword, and although bureaucracy can entrap, knowing how to read between the lines, or even to read them, can loosen the ties that bind, and help ensure they are not unfairly cast.
Keep fighting to study history, Law. I too want to know about the Will of D.

okay, there's a LOT happening here and i need to go over it before i fucking explode
first things first, we've got these beasts or gods which seem like parallels to the ancient weapons, with the sea, sky and land (from right to left). i've got two theories about this: these are just representations of the ancient weapons as monsters or the gods that the ancient weapons are based on OR we already know one ancient weapons is actually a person. what if they were all original living beings and some got turned into monsters? especially with pluton, i'm reminded of franky's bad end from sbs 101.
references to the enel's maxim traveling to the moon. seems like someone tried that before and failed because of the ancient weapons?
this might be a bit of a stretch, but this profile looks like an elephant. specifically zunesha
another stretch, but this profile looks like imu
here, it looks like we've got people harvesting 'suns' to power a city, as well as some people with halos. this is probably the slaves and forbidden sun the text mentions, but the halo people are interesting, since we haven't seen that before.
here, we've got a group of a bunch people fighting one of the monsters. there's nika, emet, giants, minks, mermaids, dwarves, and lunarians. there are also the people on the boats which might represent different kingdoms? one looks like they have a top-knot which could be wano. there are also the people riding a whale, which seems to imply a tribe of people linked to the island whale that we haven't seen yet. and then there's the people fighting with the monster. this all seems linked to the war that happened in the void century, referenced by the middle text box.
and finally, the text box itself. i highlighted a few bits that i found most interesting, so i'll go through those:
so "within the earth" there was a "forbidden sun". this either is or is a precursor to the mother flame that vegapunk discovered/invented to create his own sun/endless energy (ch 1114). seems like maybe people in the past tried that and got punished by the sun god for it. regardless, the idea of a forbidden sun is fascinating.
then, the "earth god [...] shrouded the world in death and darkness" leading to the second world aka the void century. now, im not sure if these gods are tied to the monsters shown in mural or the ancient weapons. my guess would be they're tied to the ancient weapons with the earth god and sea god, but the forest god instead of a sky god complicates things- wait. i was going to mention that the forest god was mentioned in skypiea, along with the sun, earth and rain (sea?) god (ch 287). we also see one of their gods in kashigami, the giant snake. and one of the meanings of kashi (according to google) is oak. so it stands to reason that kashigami is the forest god. a forest god from a forest IN THE SKY. boom, we can tie it to the ancient weapon uranus, problem solved.
also, speaking of the rain god, it's the only one from skypiea not mentioned here (unless it is just a different version of the sea god since skypedia doesn't have a sea and ya know, the water cycle and all that), but there is some rain over the whale people that seems significant.
anyway, moving on to "they will never meet", which is repeated in the second world too. while i believe this references the sun god (not) meeting the other gods during these times, it also reminds me of roger mentioning that they "were just too early' (ch 968) with discovering the one piece.
then in the second world, we've got the "void" and "the fires of war", aka the void century and the great war that occurred during it.
also, i didn't highlight it, but the "forest god tamed demons" bit is also interesting. for demons, the three things i think of is the mythical devil fruits of the five elders, the giant shadowy beings from the florian triangle, or the maybeeee the horned ancient giants? my bet is on the florian triangle beings since they kinda looks like shadows cast from skypiea
then, there are "those of the half-moon [and] the moon". now, we known that one of these are the people from the sky island, from enel's cover story (ch 470 and 472). then, there are the lunarians, which given their name and wings, also come from the/a moon. now, which group is the moon or the half-moon, i don't know, but it's interesting that there are two separate moon groups.
and then, finally, we have "the sun god dances and laughs, guiding the world to its end". now, this is probably the most important bit from the whole thing. we know from saul that the third world here is the present, so this is, like, direct foreshadowing. this could be metaphorical, that luffy will end the current "world" aka the world government and usher in a new world, "a new morning". but it could be literal. i don't remember if i came up with this or if i heard it somewhere else, but i have this theory that luffy might destroy mary geoise and destroy the red line, which this line might support.
and finally, we have "and they will surely meet", echoing the last lines of the the previous two stanzas. now, in those two, "they" seem to be the gods, but that's not so in this one. of course, this leaves a lot of things that it could be but either way, luffy will meet someone who will be important the end game of this whole thing. my completely based on nothing, just pure vibes guess? that maybe, the one piece is alive.
and of course, i am very excited that franky is the one kinda front and center here, literally, so i can only hope that maybe him (and robin) will get a lot more focus in the upcoming arcs. a guy can dream.
