Music In The Narutoverse
I think in Kirigakure, most music that can be heard originates from either the union of fishermen or monks, as many cultures have been. wiped out due to their ongoing political unrest. As for the fishermen, some popular instruments are steel drums, which can sound like this or like this. Gamelans are often played near the temples up high in the mountains, the wind carries their sound across the village. Radios aren't really used.
Iwagakure's traditional music is very percussion heavy, using various kinds of drums and gongs. They have fallen in love with the guzheng, aka the moon guitar. Another instrument originating from there is the erhu, which Kirigakure citizens also really enjoy listening to and consider a high class/fancy instrument. These are the kind of songs Iwagakure ninja can hear in their radio, Onoki's favorite is this one. High up in the mountains, sounds like these can be heard. These horns are used to communicate between different valleys.
As a stronghold of trade, Kumogakure's music has been shaped by many cultural influences. One of the more traditional instruments in Kumogakure is the cowbell/agogo bell. Kumo citizens enjoy music from all across the shinobi world, including songs in foreign languages. As a rather technologically advanced village, it is not uncommon to hear electric guitars and synthesizers be used in their music. Here are some songs I think could be heard on the Kumo radio. As for Killer Bee, here are some of his faves.
In Uzushiogakure, an instrument that could often be heard in traditional music is the anklung, as well as the t'rung. Music was often performed for the whole village, and everyone was invited.
As for many western instruments, those have originated in the Country Of Knights. This country was only mentioned in the movies, but for the sake of it, I will consider it canon as well. While their traditional music sounded somewhat like this, sounds like these here weren't uncommon as well. It was popularized by immigrants from the country of knights.
As stated before, Madara Uchiha was a skilled pianist, his sharingan allowed him to read sheet music while playing, here are some of the pieces he played. Madara often played this piece for his siblings to make them laugh.

I’m struggling to articulate this so just run with me
> Seven Swordsmen of the Mist
> Seven of Swords
>> 3rd decan of Aquarius
> Aquarius is an Air Sign
>> “The Water Bearer”
>>> water in the air = MIST
> Village symbol is a stylized glyph of Aquarius
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like both the 7 of Swords (Futility) and the sign of Aquarius in general is thematically relevant to the village and its characters, but it’s been a minute since I’ve read Naruto so I might save the details for later.

Haku marked
Yep still drawing Naruto art in the year of our chaos 2024. Listen the show has a little place in my heart.  And before you ask me, My fave fights in all of naruto YES all of Naruto including Shippūden, Is the first major fight with Zabuza, the demon hidden in the mist. Still one of my fav fights, really sets up a lot of ideas what these fights are gonna be, and also when you REWATCH that fight, after watching the series and KNOWING how STRONG Kakashi is, and how Zabuza could stop him just damn you know? Anyway another part of the fight I loved is Haku, I love a un traditional weapon user who while not strong uses the the pressure points of human bodies and weakening people that way, Sanbon needles are such a cool thing, And just love their special thing with ice, and it making mirrors and uses it as a way to multi attack...very similar to a move Luxord does in his fights, and I love it in that just using chaos and confusion and fear as a fight tactic! Yes just YES!

There have been several attempts on Mei’s life; I think. Constantly stamping down resurrectionists and whatnot. She took down the caste-system, so I imagine it was many who previously benefited who wanted to see her dead.
Terumi Mei, the Godaime Mizukage is many things, merciful, kind, intelligent, deemed the strongest in her village. None of these traits apply to those who endanger her home, and her people.
There are rumors of how Mei handles traitors, and none of them are pleasant.

i was looking at your naruto headcanons and they are amazing especially the ones about kirigakure!!! i was wondering if you'll have somes about gender dynamics and expectations in kiri. just asking... also i found out you do art as well...NICEEEEEEEE (im canonsinthehead btw...)
Hii! I'm happy to hear you enjoy my ramblings about Kiri and my art!! Makes me feel like I'm not just screaming into the void.
cn: mentions of colorism, sexism and queerphobia
Gender Expectations in Kirigakure
Tumblr media
The role of women in Kirigakure
Generally speaking, it used to be rather uncommon for women to become kunoichi. One of the women who did was Ameyuri Ringo, who quickly became an idol to many young girls in her time. The idea of a woman swordsman was ridiculous - yet she fought her way up to the top. The shinobi affilitation was a very men-oriented field and those women who did became fully fledged shinobi were battle hardened and didn't take shit from anyone.
However, it was very common for women to be part of the workforce, since many citizens are on the poorer side, women from higher ranked families being the exception. The most common jobs taken on by women used to be rice and fruit farmers, seamstresses or business (co-)owners.
This has changed, however, once the fifth mizukage, Mei Terumi, rose to power. She encouraged young women and girls to fight for their dreams and become shinobi as well.
Women of the middle and higher classes are expected to take care of themselves, look pretty and be gracious, elegant and soft-spoken. Arranged marriages were nothing uncommon, often leaving the women with no choice in the matter.
Men's role in Kirigakure
Men are expected to be hard workers, providers for the family, but the image of the ideal man does differ from other cultures. Men in Kirigakure are rather comfortable in their femininity and it is not uncommon for men to wear makeup, do skincare and sleep with silken bonnets to take care of their hair. This often leads to Kiri men being seen as effeminate or flamboyant.
The exception to this are Kiri fishermen and sailors, who have adopted a more 'westernized' view of masculinity. Often foul mouthed and abrasive, they have formed their own subculture of 'new masculinity'.
Gender outside of woman and man
It is not uncommon for youngsters and teens in Kirigakure to reject the idea of being either a woman or a man, however it does lead to scrutiny and condemnation of Kirigakure's older population. People assigned female at birth are more often scruitinized than people assigned male at birth.
The beauty ideals in Kirigakure
Fair, pale skin Fair skin is seen as a sign of wealth and beauty in Kirigakure and a very desirable trait to many people. Skin bleaching creams are widely available and there are many problems with colorism in Kirigakure.
Long, luscious hair Another sign of wealth, long, open hair is seen as the beauty ideal because it means not having to work a tedious job where long hair would be seen as tedious.
Brown eyes In a country where people with kekkei genkai were frequently hunted down and killed, it is to be expected that anyone with a rare or unnatural eye color would automatically be seen as a freak, leading to brown eyes being the beauty ideal in Kirigakure.
A plump, well fed looking body This is pretty much self explanatory, as more plump bodies are seen as a sign of being well fed and able to afford leisure time.
That's all, folks!

Can Suigetsu be used as the water source when using a water style jutsu?
Imagine someone using him for a water dragon jutsu, or him turning into one when he uses the jutsu

Hi I'm wondering if you know how old was Genjutsu Hozuki was when he died and when he died I think he died before Tobirama death in Year 33
First off, the name is not Genjutsu.
It is Gengetsu Hozuki.
Secondly, there is no official statement that reveals Gengetsu's age.
We can only estimate his age based on his appearance and compare him to likes of Tobirama and Second Raikage.
The fact that Gengetsu wasn't present in the first kage summit might indicate the possiblity that He could be considerably younger than Third Mizukage (who appears to be a few years younger than Hashirama Senju).
What do we have now is Hashirama's age which is probably 26 at the time he invites other villages' leaders to the first kage summit. Gengetsu may be 10-15 years younger than Hashirama or simply just inexperienced and not a well known shinobi at the time.
If i were to estimate his age at the time of death (which i think is before Tobirama's death as the most plausible scenario is The Second Hokage's sacrificed fueled Hiruzen's motivation who succeeded at ending the war), i'd say that he looks like a man in his 40's but if i were to consider the kage summit perspective then he is supposed to be in late 20's-early 30's.
Does it make sense? I mean this is a man that is fighting in world war. I expect him to look way older than he actually is due to intense pressure and stress that atmosphere had on his body.
Genetics also play a factor as Hashirama doesn't look much younger than he was shortly after becoming the hokage, and Hashirama had died around 10-15 years after founding konoha alongside Madara. Tobirama is like that too. It's only natural if Gengetsu is around the same age as his peer Tobirama but seems like an old man in comparison.
I'd say he was 35-40.
