Instant emotional turmoil

The moment he senses Isobu inside her, he goes still. Doesn’t speak. His expression drops blank in a way that isn't cold—it’s haunted.

It’s like a ghost walking into the room. Rin’s death defined him, warped him, shattered his ideals. And now here (Y/N) stands—gentle, alive, human—with the same beast Rin once carried burning quietly inside her.

He avoids her at first. Brushes her off. Keeps his distance like she’s a memory he can’t survive touching.

Torn between past and present

He keeps watching her, though. He can’t help it. Every time she fights, speaks, laughs, he realizes more and more—she isn’t Rin. She’s something else. Someone real, now.

But the guilt gnaws at him. Part of him hates himself for noticing how beautiful she looks when her chakra flares, how peaceful she seems when she sleeps, how alive she is.

And yet… she talks to him. Patiently. Like he’s not a monster. Like she sees him. Not the mask. Not the blood on his hands. Just… him.

Soft burn into obsession

The shift is slow. He doesn’t fall for her like lightning—it’s a long, aching descent. One day he realizes that she makes the rage quieter. The grief gentler.

Her bond with Isobu isn’t cursed, like Rin’s felt. It’s cooperative. Harmonious. She lives in peace with the beast, not burdened by it—and that alone changes something in him.

He starts talking to her more. Lingers a little longer during missions. Finds excuses to sit next to her around the fire, even if he doesn’t say much.

When she smiles at him, something fractures. He wants that smile to be his.

First time he touches her

It’s subtle. A hand brushing hers when they walk. His cloak draped over her shoulders when she’s asleep, even though he pretends it wasn’t him.

The first time he lets himself really touch her—cupping her cheek, brushing his thumb over her skin—he pauses, breath held. Half-expecting to see Rin’s blood again.

But there’s no horror. No scream. Just her, looking at him like he’s something worth loving.

When she finds out about Rin

She knows of Rin, but when she learns the full story—what she meant to him, what her death did—she doesn’t recoil.

Instead, she tells him softly: -Then let me be proof that you can love again, and this time, no one has to die for it.-

And that? That undoes him. He turns his face away, because crying in front of her feels impossible—but his hand tightens around hers like he’ll never let go.

Isobu’s reaction

Isobu is surprisingly calm about it. The beast has lived through tragedy already—he feels Obito’s turmoil before (Y/N) does.

Eventually, Isobu tells her: -This time will not end in blood. But he has to choose to believe that.-

Obito starts listening. Slowly. Maybe… maybe this doesn’t have to be a curse.

Their bond

They sleep back-to-back at first, tense, then with their hands linked. One night, she rolls into his chest, and he just holds her, silent, overwhelmed.

He’s still awkward. Still gets flustered. Still grunts out short, clumsy words when she kisses him.

But he touches her like she’s real. Like she’s the first thing that has ever truly pulled him back from the dark.
