A lot is said on Itachi and Kisame's bonding. While I don't think there was anything remotely romantic about it, it would be completely wrong to deny how important they were to each other. Kisame was one of the very, very few people who mattered to Itachi, and Itachi grew to have a deeper influence on Kisame. Theirs was a unique bond, especially from the Akatsuki standards. All the Akatsuki pairs mistrusted each other, always reviled each other, Itachi and Kisame were the only ones to respect each other. There was still mistrust between Itachi and Kisame. Kisame probably never fully believed Itachi was loyal to their organization.
Even then, he remained loyal to Itachi. He cared about him. I don't see Itachi ever expressing he was in pain or guilt because, to him, protecting his truth was more important than anything else. Kisame would still have picked up on things. On Itachi's mannerisms - when Itachi was too quiet, too morose. Kisame would know something was bothering him. He would have known Itachi was living in extreme guilt. His reunion with Sasuke, the torture he subjected Sasuke to and the guilt that followed, even if Itachi never vocalised it, Kisame would have known. Sasuke's birthday, the anniversary of the massacre, and anything else that pained Itachi so much that he would let tiny bit of the vulnerability leak through him were enough to let Kisame know who Itachi was.
He says to Itachi 'I'm sorry for what happened to your little brother'. He knew Itachi loved his brother and despite his cold countenance Itachi couldn't hide his pain. For a little while even Itachi didn't know that Sasuke was alive.
Kisame knew more about Itachi than they both ever admitted. Kisame saw Itachi burn in guilt, lose his weight as his illness became worse, and his efforts to hide all of his truth through the years. He saw Itachi silently longing for his family, lose his eyesight and struggling to still be intimidating like he was meant to be, live through the nightmares that persisted in spite of everything, the plan Itachi made to die at Sasuke's hands because in death Itachi saw his own salvation. Kisame, in all this, was like water that flowed through the cracks and touched everything, whether Itachi ever realized it or not.
Even if Itachi himself never believed it, even if nobody in the Akatsuki ever noticed it, Kisame knew and saw everyday Itachi wasn't one of them for the sole reason that he regretted his life and was burdened by the conscience. He couldn't help his partner in any way other than stay quiet. Itachi was like a cat that could be frightened very easily if one got too close to him. So, Kisame maintained his distance, offering his support by not burdening him with the knowledge that 'I know you're not evil.' This was a secret and remained so to the very end.
Itachi was not blind to all of this. He must've been thankful. Maybe Kisame was the only one he could trust to not take advantage of his little brother when he was dead. But as Shinobi, and most importantly, as an Akatsuki member, lives were too fragile. So he never panicked about Kisame revealing the truth to Sasuke.

There have been several attempts on Mei’s life; I think. Constantly stamping down resurrectionists and whatnot. She took down the caste-system, so I imagine it was many who previously benefited who wanted to see her dead.
Terumi Mei, the Godaime Mizukage is many things, merciful, kind, intelligent, deemed the strongest in her village. None of these traits apply to those who endanger her home, and her people.
There are rumors of how Mei handles traitors, and none of them are pleasant.
