Alright so l saw a few people on the internet saying that Sophie Foster is a pick me because she doesn't like make up ,gowns,or anything figuratively feminine.STOPP.I am on full fledged mamma bear mode.Because, pick me is a term used to describe someone,a girl in most cases (i think)who puts down other girls or claims that she is different, to get more attention(from guys.)And Sophie Foster is nothing like that.Sure she doesn't like to wear gowns because she doesn't feel comfortable in them. And come on if you have to wear a 3-5kg gown everyday, every hour of the day, then you would be uncomfortable too.The other elves in the series don't mind it that much because they have always lived like that, and those who feel uncomfortable switch to tunics like Sophie did,and there is nothing wrong with that. You should wear what you are comfortable in.About accessories and makeup,it's clearly stated that Sophie hates make up and fancy accessories(dramatic pause) because she doesn't want to stand out.Sophie has always been uncomfortable with attention (till the last two books)and just wants to blend in with the crowd. She doesn't like the attention that comes with dressing up, because she doesn't want to stand out.And another thing,Sophie never criticised other girls for dressing up.She never put them down to get attention.Like she doesn't think it's WRONG to dress up or attract the crowd. For example,Sophie has always admired Biana for her fashion sense and beauty tho they both have very different styles.Sophie respects Biana's fashion and doesn't judge her for being girly nor does she EVER compare herself to other girls in a narcissistic manner to prove how different she is from "other girls."She is NOT a pick me and DOES NOT give "l'm not like these other girls at all" vibes.Thank you.

alvar hating aldens “no reason to worry” catchphrase actually makes so much sense to me. cause like imagine young alvar crying about something and going to his dad and being told there’s “no reason to worry”. it would feel like his dads just brushing off or ignoring his problems because they’re no big deal.
the fact that alden was probably working a lot during alvars childhood too

Dead FFitz. How would the crew react?
I don't think a single soul would actually believe it was real for a very long time.
Some part of Keefe would reach for his imparter to call Fitz before his wanderling was planted, feeling like he needed to talk to his best friend about his best friend's funeral. Only to realize he can't. Sophie would find herself reaching out to him telepathically, and finding an empty void in response. He was one of the first minds she'd ever entered, and they were cognates, and it would feel like she lost a limb. She'd reach out even knowing that he wouldn't answer, through some vain hope. Biana would get whiffs of the smell of baking from the everglen kitchen and hurry down just to find a gnome baking Mallowmelt. It won't ever taste like Fitz's, and she can't even take a bite without feeling like she's going to throw up. When she gets to the elite levels all she can think about how both of her big brothers are dead and how she's the only one left. Della would pace in front of her sons' bedroom doors, and she would sometimes open them, expecting to see her boys sitting on their beds, doing homework, or chatting with their friends on their imparters. They're always empty. Covered in dust, slowly losing the smell of their colognes'. When the gnomes come to clean, she screams at them through tears. Nobody touches the rooms after that; not even her. Alden doesn't go near their rooms. He won't even approach the hall. He keeps Fitz's imparter in his pocket and answers all of Keefe's half-thought hails in the middle of the night, and sometimes neither of them can breathe. Keefe hangs up first. He can't stand the fact that Fitz's teal eyes are staring into his, but he isn't even there. It all feels like denial. Like he's going to come back somehow, by some miracle. Sophie stares at all the bows she kept from the treats he baked her. She curses her photographic memory, because his movie-star smile never quite leaves her mind's eye, and Keefe uses his own to draw portraits of his dead best friend. Sophie won't look at them. Della holds them close to her chest, and Biana pretends that it doesn't feel like being stabbed to see them. Alden hangs them in his study. Keefe draws one of Alvar too, and Biana keeps it in a drawer in her room.

*Alvar is cooking*
Biana: Any chance that's for me?
Alvar: It's for dad. I'm planning on making some bad choices tonight, and I'm gonna need him on my side.
Fitz: I never realized the forethought that went into being a disappointment.

I want to talk about Dex's reaction to Sophie telling him that she might go live with the Vackers. He gets angry and that's understandable. The Vackers represent everything that his family isn't: they have more social status, Alden and Della are considered a good match, everyone has a "good" ability, etc.
Sophie didn't care about Dex's family's status. She doesn't have that type of prejudice because of her human upbringing and that's why her and Dex are best friends, she didn't care about all the "flaws" elvin society says the Dizznee's have.
So, when Sophie says she might go live with the Vackers, Dex rightful responds with anger. He's scared of losing his best friend. He's scared those prejudices might be instilled in Sophie being around the "perfect" family and she won't want to be friends anymore.
Is that the best reaction Dex could have given Sophie? Probably not, she needed comfort and understanding in that moment but children can sometimes miss things like that.
TLDR: Dex's anger about Sophie potentially living with the Vackers is understandable

Watch me incoherently rant about the vackers and kinda vent and most definitely get information wrong for who knows how long
Fitz and Alvar (Fitz especially) as characters are just
Amazing and scarily relatable to me.
Starting with Fitz, he’s virtually the oldest sibling once Alvar becomes older and goes away on assignments or whatever a lot, and he’s held to a very high standard, not much different from the rest of his siblings.
But he’s successful in being the best, and now he’s expected to keep that up. And now it’s affecting his siblings’ expectations from parents, and he can tell they resent him for it.
Not to mention he reached the higher status by aiming to be like his older brother and being expected to be like him.
Now for Alvar. Something I hate that my parents make my younger siblings aim for is trying to get my grades or similar because I’ve had all As or 4s or 100s or whatevers since maybe first grade.
I hate it. Because they just aren’t me and shouldn’t be expected to be, but if they’re doing worse my parents will compare them to me. Fucking stupid.
But I feel like the way the Vackers and Alvar and Fitz especially were written is very similar to this situation and the situation of many families with a more gifted kid.
Alvar was a very smart, gifted, top boy type child. He’s even helped with government assignments from a pretty young age. When fitz moved to this age, he was expected to hold up the reputation paved by Alvar. But he did it better.
Alvar resents him. Fitz’s siblings are seen as below him.
The stress builds up and it gets worse and worse until it shows up in the form of anger issues. And people don’t help.
They just reprimand him for having them.
And it only makes it worse.
Fitz is too relatable anldejkellzjsk and I don’t want to feel like a bad person for saying this idk watch me be a fitz defender frfr
I have no idea where the rest was going. Get my man a therapy is all. please and carrots 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Okay bye if I got info wrong tell me or add on 😀

Alden vacker is the guy to love garage sales even though the difference from the original price is a few cents. Also the guy to go "Eh ill be fine" when he was 7 essays due on Monday and it's 12 pm on a Sunday. Also the type of guy to buy the most random stuff when there's a sale. The type of guy to complete all side quests and would be more focused on completing them than playing the actual game itself. Probably would not realize he was being scammed until some weeks later and miraculously gets it back anyways. Is the type of dad to not know what's going on during their child's event but is still the loudest to cheer anyways.

okay so, like...
how did the vackers get so famous?
like was it only because of fallon being one of the council founders?
bc there were two other people as well??
or orem being a super good flasher?
but i'm pretty sure there would be other talented flashers as well
tell me why

Alden: How did none of you hear what I just said?
Della, apologetic: I got distracted about halfway through.
Biana: I’ve been zoned out for the past two and a half hours.
Alvar: Ignoring you was a conscious decision.

Has this been discussed over and over in the fandom? Yes.
Is there a need to discuss it again? Probably not.
Am I going to discuss this anyway? Yep!
So with that out of the way, let's talk yet again, about the Vackers, specifically in Flashback.
Alden and Della desperately want the version of Alvar they remember back. Their oldest son who was sometimes mischievous but kind and helpful. They want their family to be right again and struggle with accepting that Fitz doesn't want that either.
Fitz's only feels anger and rage towards everyone related to Alvar's return, even Dex for not telling him when the Council asked him to make the Warden. Fitz has no interest in the Vacker family returning back into a semblance of normal with Alvar. Even though Alvar's had all his memories wiped, Fitz only sees a murderer who betrayed and hurt the people he loves.
Biana is torn. She too hates Alvar and understands Fitz. But she doesn't want her family to be in turmoil.
This new version of Alvar claims he will never rejoin the Neverseen because they left him for dead. Then, he gets his memories back, rejoins the Neverseen and reveals Luiza Vacker's treason as a way to punish his family for ignoring him, the first born who was supposed to be the most powerful, and turning their attention to Fitz instead.
