Crow!Xian except it's a modern cultivation au where Wei Wuxian is cursed to be a crow and he spends it hanging out on Lan Wangji's balcony cawing and shouting to get his attention and save him.
lwj just trying to enjoy his morning tea on the balcony and crow!wwx screeching at him and so lwj gives him one of his biscuits and crow!wwx just looks into the camera like this wasn't what i wanted but i mean i will take it i guess and eats the biscuits happily as lwj just watches him.
he sneaks in one day because crow!wwx is smart enough to figure out how to open a sliding door and uses paint to paint the entire room and write I AM WEI YING but crows don't have the best hand eye coordination so when lwj sees it he's just like "pretty drawing crow friend" with a polite head pat that makes crow!wwx screech but also he likes it
lwj eventually figures it out when crow!wwx caws the notes to wangxian and even in the horrible screechy noise thats still somehow in tune, lwj recognizes immeadiately and is like "that crow is my wei ying."
he tries true love's kiss and like gives him a peck on the beak but it's doesn't work and crow!wwx is all huffy because his first kiss with lwj is as a crow and isnt that unfair.
(eventually they figure out the array and get him back to normal and have lots of make up kisses but every once in a while when wwx burps it comes out like a crow's caw and he jumps. lwj thinks it's cute and gives him more biscuits and kisses)

wangxian + hanahaki with a twist AU ideas
many fic readers have mixed feelings about hanahaki aus for various reasons. But i think there's a lot of potential with this au, if only it is tweaked a bit:
Idea #1: in a world where u get hanahaki whenever you hold unacknowledged feelings for someone, wwx cannot figure out who he has feelings for. Is it Mianmian??? (and he has to figure it out before it kills him, if you want more angst. or for a more comedic fic, getting hanahaki is just annoying and embarrassing, and goes away once he realizes aloud who he likes romantically.) but the plot twist: wwx was intentionally oblivious this whole time because he "knew" liking lwj wasn't an option bc he has to stay in lotus pier and be jc's right hand, or he is yllz and without a golden core he will die early/cannot be lwj's cultivation partner, so he is subconsciously (but slowly more consciously) preventing himself from recognizing his own feelings
Idea #2: in a world where u get mildly inconvenient but not life-threatening hanahaki whenever you hold unacknowledged feelings for someone, a teenage lwj refuses to admit he likes wei wuxian, of all people. He won't. He won't. (and lxc in the back, trying to set them up: didi i love u but why) he spends the majority of the fic being frustrated at the flowers he coughs up and their meanings. by the end of the fic/wwx's time in cloud recesses lwj has accepted he is in love with wwx and the hanahaki goes away.
Idea #3: in a world where you don't get hanahaki in your lungs but as flower tattoos on your body, lwj is covered in flowers from head to toe for years. It is harmless, but seen as pitiable to love so deeply and unrequitedly. wwx doesn't know until he returns as mxy bc it was his "get lost!" before his death that caused the flowers to appear on lwj's skin in places he could not cover with his robes. Maybe lwj is wearing a veil/gloves etc to cover up the flowers when wwx returns bc the flowers are seen as deeply personal. maybe he doesn't and wwx sees the flowers right away.
Idea #4: in a world where anyone with a golden core gets a mild, not-dangerous case of hanahaki whenever you have a crush, (and it is considered a way of confession/courting to give the flowers to the object of your affections, with the hanahaki going away once affection dies/or is returned) teenage wwx and lwj both get hanahaki. wwx leaves the flowers in lwj's room/on his desk/etc, but has no idea lwj preserves all of them by pressing and storing them in a book. lwj does not give any of his flowers in return until after xuanwu cave, when wwx wakes up to find a flower tucked into his robes. Then after wwx passes out upon defeating wrh, lwj leaves wwx another flower. lwj thinks wwx no longer has hanahaki/his affections have died, but in reality wwx has no core and cannot make them. then the yunmeng balcony scene happens, or the flower toss scene at the nighthunt happens (wwx is still pining, he still wants to give lwj flowers even though they aren't hanahaki flowers) and lwj wonders why wwx has tossed him a flower if his affections are no longer returned. and idk maybe its canon compliant from there, or maybe its a fix-it. who knows.

Jiang Cheng/Wen Ruohan
Fanfiction promt, if you got inspiration from this promt, please go with your idea, and let it become a story. Nothing would make me happier than reading something like this in the future! ❤️
Jiang Cheng committed suicide in a few years after he discovered how he got back 'his' golder core. He managed to get everything in order, and appointed a heir for Yunmeng-Jiang with the stipulation, that if Jin Ling has a heir they could inherit the sect.
However instead of joining the circle of reincarnation, he travels back in time, and he awakens before they go to Cloud Recess.
He has the advantage of knowing what will happen, and he's determined not just to win, but to prevent the war.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Jiang Cheng knew it was a long shot, but he really didn't see any other way out of this. He didn't wanted a repeat of what he and everyone went trough the last time, and for that he needed to prevent the war. In this way he could save not just his sister and senior brother, but he could prevent the whole chain reaction that steamed from the power vacuum wich was left behind after the destruction of the largest and most powerful sect of all. So it was boiled down to two options.
Jiang Cheng either needed to kill Wen Ruohan, wich was a ridiculous idea. The man was a step away from immorality, and some of the older people hazarded he was around a hundred years old. If you disregarded everything else, the difference in experience alone would create a huge gap between them, and the odds wouldn't be in Jiang Cheng's favour. Last time this feat needed three of them to complete, and in that time Wen Ruohan was out of his mind fron the yin iron poisoning, and the one who delivered the lethal blow was Meng Yao, who stabbet the sect leader in the back, quite literally. So the first option was out of question, wich left him with the second one.
And this is why, he was in a forest, deep in Yunmeng-Jiang territory in the middle of the night, and waited for the man, whose sect burned down his, killed his parents, and destroyed him and his senior brother's life. But he was ready to put away his pride and his personal grievance for saving hundreds maybe even thousands of life. Strictly speaking the Wen sect haven't committed the crimes yet, so he really didn't have any basis for his anger. It was hard, to write the letter in wich he invited the sect leader for this get together, but it wasn't the first time he needed to do something personally taxing for the betterment of his sect. He was used to it.
It didn't mean he wasn't nervous, so when he heard a branch snap ok his left side, he flinched, but he didn't reached for his sword. He gulped, and the other man walked in tk the clearing, closely followed by his ever present shadow, the Core melting hand. It took everything in Jiang Cheng not to react. Even if it was almost two decades ago, he could still feel as the life drained from his limbs, as he lost that extra spark that differentiated cultivators from ordinary people. But he needed to suck it up, and be present. Too much depended on this meeting for Jiang Cheng to be too lost in the past to concentrate on the present.
"What do we have here dear Zhuliu. A young foal decided to take a night run in the woods." The sect leader's voice was mocking, but Jiang Cheng was prepared. He had too thick of a face to feel offended by petty games.
"Sect Leader Wen, thank you for attending this unconventional meeting." Jiang Cheng bowed deeply and saluted with perfect posture. Wen Ruohan just lifted a brow, and stepped a bit closer, so they could have a conversation without needing to shout across the clearing.
"It was an interesting letter, wouldn't you say Jiang Wanyin? One of the big secrets heir sent me a letter, where he demands a meeting, in secret. Amd the most shocking detail, he says I need to cease my plans regarding dominating the cultivation world, and to give up the yin iron or else." Jiang Cheng could feel the power radiating from the other man. He hadn't been sure at the time, about how much detail he should reveal in his letter. He needed the sect leader to take him seriously without falling into an insane rage wich wpuld lead to the Jiang clan extinction. He banked on Wen Ruohan's famous curiosity, and made a horrible gamble. He wasn't sure if it will pay off. He didn't have anything else, but hope it will. The only thing he needed to do now is to see it trough, even if it'll coat him his life.
"I'd like to apologise for the tone of the letter, but I didn't see any other way to get your attention." Jiang Cheng felt his throat closing as Wen Ruohan stepped up right beside him. Towering over his fifteen years old body. He needed to suppress a flinch when he saw as the sect leader lifted his hand. Wen Ruohan reached out toward his face, and Jiang Cheng couldn't supress a shiver when the man cradled his chin. With a little nudge, Jiang Cheng looked straight at the other man's eyes, and then he didn't see anything else, but his living nightmares... his memories.

Wangxian Mermay 2023
Day XI: Sand.
Wei Ying hated Wednesday's.
The sun-baked sand stuck to every part of him still wet from his swim. The waves lapped half-heartedly at his tail, the gulls wheeled and cried overhead. Signaling to each other the lazy Jiaoren on the beach wasn't quite dead yet.
Jokes on them, he wasn't going to die any time soon.
Although he might if Lan Zhan took much longer in Caiyi Town forcing him to be without kisses.
He knew visits with Lan Qiren were important, what with his failing health and no medicine working it was important to put his affairs in order for Lan Zhan and Lan Huan.
Did it have to be every Wednesday?
Wednesday was Lan Zhan's slow day. The day they got the chance to swim together. To dry on the sun-warmed rocks before Lan Zhan would head inside, and start breakfast gloriously naked. Wei Ying would tempt him back into bed, breakfast would burn, they would order out and Wei Ying would work on the deck, the boat dock, and the greenhouse before heading inside to start dinner.
Lan Zhan would emerge from his office, pressing heated kisses up Wei Ying's sweaty neck, whispering instructions while he pretend to get upset that Lan Zhan didn't trust him to cook.
All of that had been ruined!
Wei Ying groaned, rolling back and forth on the shore. Succeeding only in getting sand everywhere and startling the gulls too dumb to realize he was still alive.
He threw his arm over his eyes, blocking out the sun, ignoring his stomach rumbling in protest from lack of food.
He didn't want food his husband hadn't cooked!
He was being bratty and he knew it. If Lan Zhan were here, he would mockingly scold Wei Ying for being 'ridiculous' or somesuch.
He couldn't help it. It wasn't his fault Lan Zhan was so perfect. If Lan Zhan didn't want a whiny brat for a husband, he shouldn't have been so perfect, he had no one but himself to blame.
The stairs over the beach creaked.
Wei Ying smiled, going still, pretending to be asleep.
There was a pause, a voice. Not Lan Zhan's. Lighter, less refined.
Had Lan Zhan brought someone home?
No, he would have warned Wei Ying first.
Footsteps shifted the sand, approaching him.
"Ah, bird!"
That…was a child's voice.
"Yes. A common seagull. They live on the cliffs and the top of the house." Lan Zhan replied.
Wei Ying snapped his eyes open, spinning around, he tucked his tail under him and pushed up.
Wei Ying loved his husband. There wasn't a single moment of a single day he could imagine not loving everything about Lan Zhan. Everytime Wei Ying discovered something new about Lan Zhan it felt like he was turning a crystal in his hand and discovering a new cut, or edge that gave off a different light.
Here he was in the morning holding a child and Wei Ying had never been more in love with him.
His face was soft, he didn't have any of that tension he typically had from a day if dealing with Lan Qiren's lawyers or insurance agency. His shoulders were relaxed, every line of his body ooze comfort and relaxation.
He reached up brushing crumbs away from the little boys mouth as he pointed to more gulls in the sky. Complaining because the Jiaoren really was alive.
"Uh Lan…Zhan?"
Lan Zhan smiled, bending down, he kissed Wei Ying's forehead, handing the boy to him.
"Do not get him dirty." His eyes raked Wei Ying's sand covered chest and tail, "I brought us breakfast."
Wei Ying held the boy. He was light. Too light. Every child should be fat and have laugh lines by the time they're ten.
He stared at Wei Ying with big, doughy brown eyes. His feather light hair was as dark as his or Lan Zhan's.
He stared at Wei Ying like he was about to yell. Large eyes already looking down.
Oh that won't do at at all!
"Don't get dirty baba says." Wei Ying tweaked his nose, earning a shy giggle. "Look at me, already covered in sand. We simply have to make you sandy as well!"
"Wei Ying." Lan Zhan was fighting not to smile, a warning with no heat.
Wei Ying rubbed his nose against the childs, delighting in more laughter, he tossed the boy up, catching him each time.
"Come with me to the wet sand we can get really dirty there."
He was lifted from his arms, Lan Zhan pretend to glare at him, "No. And no more for you." He handed Wei Ying a towel, and a long robe. "Come eat with us."
Wei Ying smiled at his husband taking the towel, he dried off, wrapping the robe around home before finishing the tail and willing the shift back into human.
It took less concentration today then it normally did. Within moments he was brushing sand off his legs, and sitting down beside Lan Zhan, pulling the child into his arms while Lan Zhan opened the take out bags.
"What's his name?"
Lan Zhan handed him a container of congee, plain with mushrooms and onions.
"Yuan."
"A-Yuan." Wei Ying pinched his nose again, blowing on the congee thoroughly before letting A-Yuan eat it. "Yuan-er, Yuanyuan. Cute little potato." He made painless playful bites at A-Yuan's neck and cheeks.
A-Yuan laughed so hard he got tiny, adorable, hiccups.
"Wei Ying. You both must eat." Lan Zhan handed over two take out bowls, smothered in dark red that made his eyes water as he took them.
"Baba takes such good care of us. Doesn't he?" Wei Ying blew on another bite, before taking one of his own. "Are we watching him or something?" He asked Lan Zhan after finishing his bite.
Lan Zhan ate his sour plum, giving the gulls slowly edging closer a frosty glare.
"Mn. Something."
Wei Ying looked up from his next bite.
It wasn't like Lan Zhan to be cagey like this. The last time he danced around Wei Ying's questions was when him and Huan-ge found out the Jiang Sect might have been responsible for his parents deaths.
Wei Ying gathered A-Yuan into his arms, sliding up until every part of him was pressed against Lan Zhan.
He met warm golden eyes, he smiled, kissing his nose, "Tell me."
Lan Zhan held out for three heartbeats. His face drained of the tension, easing into a soft smile only Wei Ying could see.
"His surname is Wen."
Wei Ying jolted to his knees, blinking rapidly, as if Qing-jie and Wen Ning would materialize out of the sand.
"Really? You've spoken with them? Si-shou? Popo? Qing-jie? A-Ning? They're okay?"
Lan Zhan put a hand on his shoulder, easing him back down to the sheet.
"Xiongzhang has, he and da-ge are working to bring them here safely. And clear their names."
Four years ago, wen Lan Zhan looked at him during a meteor shower and asked Wei Ying to marry him, he firmly believed nothing would be as good as that.
And he was right.
This was a different kind of happiness. He felt like he could fly. The worry and the fear tangled in his chest was coming undone, he could breathe again.
He buried his head in Lan Zhan's chest, sighing.
He was going to have his family again.
Wen Yuan made grumpy noises, reaching for his congee, Wei Ying laughed, pulling back.
"Sorry baobei, diedie's not being very good."
A hand held his chin, a thumb rough with callouses brushed his tears away.
"Wei Ying is always good." Lan Zhan held him as he kissed him.
"Bird is stealing!" A-Yuan shouted, startling the gull stealing a strip of yuatio.
Wei Ying tossed the spoon in his hand, the gull let out an indignant squawk, flying away with it's stolen food.
Wei Ying huffed, "It ruined such a good kiss too!"
Lan Zhan pulled him down beside him, kissing his wet sandy hair.
"There will be plenty more."

Chasing a Soul
Tumblr media
Prompt: SongXiao time travel AU fix-it CW/TW: blood, body horror
Xiao Xingchen's fractured soul starts to weaken. Song Lan brings him to the Cloud Recesses to ask for help. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian find an old mysterious mirror among all the artefacts stored in the Forbidden Library. The mirror operates with resentful energy and is said to have the power to bring a person's soul back into the world. Lan Qiren reluctantly grants Wei Wuxian the permission to try and activate the mirror, thus opening a portal into a dark unknown.
No longer having anything to loose, Song Lan takes a leap and enters the mirror. The first thing he encounters is a large iron beast charging towards him screeching and howling, eyes flashing purple with anger. He unsheathes Fuxue and faces it head-on.
---
Xiao Xingchen is heading home after a tiring shift at the hospital one night and witnesses a man dressed in dark ancient robes brutally getting run over by an ambulance with its emergency lights on. Shocked at first, he stands there watching as both the ambulance and the man violently drift to a stop a few meters away from the point of collision. He quickly calls his colleagues currently on shift and runs over to the site of the accident.
The strange man is bleeding dark blood, and the sharp ends of his bones are piercing through his pale skin at odd angles, but miraculously, he staggers onto his feet almost instantly. Xiao Xingchen is taken aback for a moment, but eventually he pulls himself together and approaches the man calmly. His first thought is that the man is running on pure adrenaline from the shock and doesn't register the pain yet. His second is that the man probably isn't in a very stable place of mind at the time and therefore requires extra care when approached.
People from nearby bars and restaurants all start to gather around them. Some pull out their mobile phones to film while others gasp with horrified expressions. Xiao Xingchen notices that the ambulance driver sits hunched over the steering wheel unmoving. He looks around while still keeping an eye on the injured man. Personel from the hospital are running towards them with all the needed emergency equipment. He turns his attention back to the man and is met with something cold pricking the thin skin at the hollow of his throat. The man is pointing a long sword at him. Thinking the object a mere costume prop, Xiao Xingchen reaches up to grab the blade with both his hands to prevent the man from accidentally swinging and hitting him or someone else if startled. The shining blade cuts into his palms and Xiao Xingchen's hands suddenly feel icy. He doesn't realise the pain in time and looks down to see red blood trickling down his wrists. The sensation raises the hair on his nape and his vision turns blurry, almost as if his body is experiencing a visceral reaction to the situation.
A short breath escapes the man dressed in black and Xiao Xingchen raises his gaze to meet his eyes. The expression he sees is one of despair and confused helplessness. Xiao Xingchen swallows soundlessly, the tip of the sword almost breaking skin. The sharp blade is retracted a few inches, but since his hands are still firmly gripping it, his blood only drips even more as his palms are thoroughly sliced open.
The sound of police sirens closes in on them, mixing with the blabering of the onlookers and the screaming of the emergency workers. Time almost seemed to have slowed down. As the pain finally catches up to him, Xiao Xingchen lets go of the sword. In a flash, the strange man flees. His robes and black long hair blending into the darkness.
(This is also one of those prompts that I would like to turn into a longer fic. It might take a long time, though. Like, a really long time.)

I want this fic so much and it doesn't seem to exist.
Listen I tried @wangxianficfinder and sorting through tags and everything but I just! can't! find! something! like! this!
I want married Wangxian, post-canon, fighting. Arguing, whatever. But it needs to be real, angsty, they need to have a very good reason to disagree and then a very good reason to make up.
The thing is, their past is full of miscommunication, yes, but they also had a very solid moral disagreement about resentful energy etc etc, among other things. Then Lan Wangji grew up and out of the rigidness of the Lan rules, and Wei Wuxian got a lot less arrogant in his new life.
BUT. But. What if. There could still be something to get them on different sides again, EVEN THOUGH they love each other very much?
Maybe it's about something going on in the cultivation world. Maybe it's about Lan Xichen, or Jiang Cheng, or Jin Ling, OR LAN SIZHUI!!! That could work, someone they both care very much about.
I don't know, it has to be believable and I don't know what exactly and that's why I don't write it myself, but gOD I want to read it.
If anyone wants to pick this up, please let me know!!!

Prompt
So I have this weirdly specific scenario I want to read a fic about.
So Person A gets trapped in, like, a lantern or an enclosed table lamp. They don't remember or experience this. For them it's like they had a nice dreamless nap and then woke up. They just look like a light inside the lantern/lamp.
However, whatever rules trapped them there keep them there for a very long time. If the people involved are mortal, it will be sometime after Person B dies. If the people are immortal, it's long enough that it's a disconcerting amount of time for the people to be apart.
So Person B has this little lantern/lamp and tends to it and takes care of it, talking to it as it's the only bit of Person A they have, possibly with no expectation of ever seeing Person A again but still caring for them the best they know how.
Luckily, Person A gets out a LOT earlier than expected. It's short enough that the two can have a happy ending, but long enough that Person B was nicely traumatized.
A bonus scene is sometime after this, Person B is compromised -- just woke up from a nightmare or sick/injured and delirious, etc. -- and they can't see the lamp/lanter and freak out, and Person A has to calm them down and comfort them.
If you write this, no matter the fandom or pairing (I'm sure I'll regret that later), please send it to me.
Thanks!

"I told you the place was haunted!!" "It's not you're just scared." W/ Jin Ling & Lan Jingy
Thanks for the prompt nonny!
---
“Remind me why we are doing this again?” Lan Jingyi asked his companion, phone clutched tightly in front of him - the device’s flashlight illuminating the open front doorway of a decrepit old building.
His companion, Jin Ling, rolled his eyes. “Because, and I quote “Sizhui is off doing cool ghostly stuff with his cool zombie uncle. I want to do cool ghostly stuff too! Jin Ling lets go explore that haunted house!” His voice took on a mocking falsetto.
Jingyi grumbled, “I do not sound like that, Young Mistress!”
The two stepped over the threshold revealing a short hallway with doorways leading left and right. Layers of dust and cobwebs covered most surfaces, in the beam of the phone’s flashlight dust particles could be seen floating through the air.
“Good thing this place doesn’t have a second floor,” Jingyi noted moving the light around. “We don’t have to worry about things crashing through the floor from above.”
Jin Ling rolled his eyes again, “Yeah, because we just blatantly ignored the signs that said this place was ‘condemned and is structurally unsafe.’”
Saying that Jin Ling took out his own phone and turned the flashlight on, moving to explore one of the rooms.
“Hyee!” Jingyi squealed.
Jin Ling jumped. “What!”
“I just saw something move, in that room!” He pointed to the room Jin Ling was about to enter.
“Might have been a cat or something,” Jin Ling noted, moving to enter the room. His flashlight illuminated every corner, but the room was empty.
“Huh. It’s empty,” he told the other boy who was clutching the back of his shirt with a vice grip.
“But I swear I saw something,” Jingyi said petulantly. “What if this place really is haunted?” He gasped.
“Do you want to back out?” Jin Ling deadpanned.
“No,” Jingyi shook his head, “let’s keeps going.”
They exit the hallway into a large open area; an open kitchen was to the right, a dining room to the left and a large living area came off the kitchen. Aside from the dining table and chairs there was no other furniture around.
The boys moved to the centre of the three rooms and Jingyi felt a heavy presence above his head. Choking on a lungful of air he fumbled his flashlight above his head and felt a cold sensation dump him from the top of his head to his toes when he saw what was coming out of the ceiling.
Long black hair was snaking from a huge crack in the ceiling. It seemed to be moving, wriggling above their heads.
He squeezed Jin Ling’s arm, tugging sharply. “See! I told you this place is haunted.” He tucked his head, squeezing his eyes shut.
“You’re just scared,” Jin Ling scoffed pointing his flashlight up as well. “See, it’s just the roots of some plant growing in the roof.”
“Wasn’t like that a second ago.”
“Sure.” Jin Ling wasn’t about to admit it, but his heart was still palpitating wildly in his chest.  “Have you had enough ghostly ‘exploring’ yet? There’s nothing here.”
Jingyi wanted to show a brave face but he felt he had gained sufficient experience tonight. Nodding to Jin Ling the two turned around and they came face to face with a frightening sight.
Two large dark eyes stared at them from a ghastly pale face shadowed by long black hair; the mouth seemed to open unnaturally wide in a silent scream. The figure was covered in chains and ragged black clothing.
Screaming themselves Jingyi and Jin Ling jostled each other as they hightailed it for the front entrance. Getting to their bikes outside the two pedalled away as fast as they could, not looking back.
Back inside the house another teenage boy poked his head around a doorway inquisitively. “Uncle Ning, what was all that noise? It sounded like Jingyi and Jin Ling?”
The dark figure, Wen Ning, blinked and cocked his head “Ah, Yuan. I think I just frightened your friends.”
Lan Sizhui smiled, “I’ll be sure to apologise to them later.”
Wen Ning stepped further inside the living room to stand under the crack in the ceiling, “Time to lay this ghost to rest, Yuan.”
The boys face turned serious and he pulled an item out of his bag, other hand poised above it.
“Yes Uncle.”

Prompt #1: A Simpler Peace
Fandom: The Untamed/MDZS
Pairings: Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji/Mo Xuanyu
Prompt Description: A few years after the death of Wei Wuxian, the Jins discover that Hanguang Jun is raising the last living member of the Wen Sect. Eager to use this information to better control the Cloud Recesses, Jin Guangshan orders Jin Guangyao to come up with a plan. The result? The Wedding of Hanguang Jun and Jin Guangshan’s bastard, Mo Xuanyu.
What I’ve Written:
Mo Xuanyu marries Second Young Master Lan in a farce of a ceremony. He chokes on the cloying incense, and the red veil, and the flower blossoms of the Cold Mountains that drift down and crown their unholy matrimony. He chokes on the very idea that any of this could ever lead to happiness, but perhaps they could find a simpler peace in their marriage, a simpler peace than one built on love. One day, Mo Xuanyu might wake up an old man at the end of a pleasant life. He found that he could live a life beside Lan Wangji, so long as it would not be a loveless life. They might not ever be each other’s soulmates, might not ever be the half of each other’s soul, but they could be partners, the half of the other’s life on earth.
Mo Xuanyu keeps this hope in his heart every time he thinks of the sixteen year old boy delivered up to Hanguang Jun on a wedding night that was no consummated. He remembers it every time he thinks of Hanguang Jun’s kindness and care, especially toward A-Yuan. The memory of it is enough to make him smile.
In such circumstances, this was as good as being in love.
Or: Mo Xuanyu is an interloper in the tragedy of HanguangJun. An outgrowth of weeds at the foot of a tomb of something great and beautiful. Lan Wangji and Mo Xuanyu are not part of some great love story, and if they ever kiss, it is merely the barest of touches. They are not the passionate kisses between lovers. There is no smooth glide of tongues. There are no breathless gasps.
But sometimes, Wangji simply places a rabbit in his hands and a kiss on his forehead. It is a light thing. The barest trace of skin, and the cool feeling of its absence. It reminds Mo Xuanyu of the truth.
This is not a love story.
And if it were, it would not be his.
Mo Xuanyu lives in the ghost of Wei Wuxian.
General Notes: I have no time to write this or to rewatch The Untamed to get things right and compliant with at least one fandom so I’m dropping this here. Someone pls write this. I’m leaving it open ended as to whether or not Wei Wuxian ever returns into this AU, or how it would even happen if he did. Maybe eventual happiness for Lan Wangji is just him, his son, and his husband from an arranged marriage whom he loves but is not in love with… or is he?

Hey! I'm a new writer still trying to really get into fanfiction and original writing! My blog's pretty new so I don't have a lot of content yet (I hunger for prompts), but I do plan on writing as much as I can as a student lol. If you want a taste of my writing check out my ao3 account @problematic_frog or my side blog tagged below!
The main fandoms that I write for are One Piece, Mo Dao Zu Shi/The Untamed, and the Brotherband Chronicles (check out my side blog @sister-of-the-brotherband). I prefer writing familial/found family and platonic fics, or for mdzs canonical pairings, but I do write some ship content and I'm a multishipper.
