When you wake up, it's way too quiet- ship no longer steadily buzzing, engines turned off it seems like as you sit up on the bed, looking around. Energy was still running, since lights were still on, and there was an almost unnoticeable humming from an AC unit, but other than that, everything was still.

"Hello?" You call out- but the only response you get is the slight echo off the steel walls of your room. Nothing else.

Did he really leave you alone? What are you supposed to do now?

You flinch when the hydraulic door hisses loudly, the alien entering the room with a serious, though slightly surprised expression. "You're awake." He observes. "Good. Eat." He commands, throwing a pack of… something at you, a little harshly so, but you still accept them. "I had to get what I know is safe for human consumption. Can't really run around Etis and bark something about humans, after all." He mumbles to himself more or less, cracking his neck. You notice the scratches on his face, as he looks into the small mirror near a cupboard to clean them and place some butterfly tape on the bigger one up his forehead.

"…what happened?" You ask quietly, testing the waters as he clicks his tongue.

"Nothing." He simply answers, continuing to fix himself up before he sighs, and sits down in the corner of the room on a chair, one leg over the other and his arms crossed. His entire body language screams defense- even if he wants to look tough. "Where is your preferred destination?" He asks, and you shrug, deflating visibly.

"..you know, like I said." You shrug. "You can always just leave me here. I don't have a plan." You admit, and he watches you for a moment.

"I don't believe that." He shakes his head, denying your words even though they're true. "I will ask you again. Where is your-"

"Nowhere!" You respond a bit more agitated, though you can feel tears of frustrations well up in your eyes. "I don't know where to go. Throw me out wherever." You tell him.

He, yet again, observes, silently. He doesn't say anything- his eyes simply a grey-ish yellow as he watches you from his spot. You're not sure what that means, though you've seen them change sometimes depending on his mood, so it might be connected to that. He's definitely not human, in that case, if his height was anything to go by already. Great- he probably hates you because you're human, just like most alien species' do.

You can't even blame them.

"What made you leave earth." He questions now instead, and you're confused.

"I already told you-" You start, but he shakes his head, watching you intensely with a piercing gaze.

"I know, and I'm not asking that." He clarifies. "I am asking for what the.. reason was that made you act." He defines more clearly, and you look down at your hands, thinking.

What made you act?

"There.. was a family." You mumble, voicing out your memories. "A mother, alone. Two kids, maybe around four or five." You explain, eyes unfocused as you remember their faces. "She was pleading with an older man, and police. Begging. 'Don't take them', she'd said. 'they're all I have', she'd said." You recite.

It's quiet for a moment too long in his opinion, as he prompts you to continue. "What happened?" He asks, voice surprisingly calm.

"They took them." You say, as if it was obvious- but he notices the distance in your voice. "She'd lost her name, just like me. And therefore, she was no longer a registered citizen- and the children automatically got placed in government care, no matter if she was able to care for them or not." You explain, before you look at him- his eyes a clear but pale yellow as he listens to you.

"I'll never forget her cries." You tell him. "Her.. just, screaming for hours. No matter where I went, I could still hear her."

"I will attempt to verify this incident." He tells you, almost like a threat.

"Then you won't find anything." You smile somberly, laying back down on the bed, curling in on yourself in an attempt for comfort. "Things like these obviously aren't allowed to be published in the media." You say, closing your eyes.

"Convenient." He simply offers, and you nod, before you hear him sigh, and stand up- leather of his pants making distinctive noises as he moves around. "Our next stop is Vao Q4. I will be leaving you there, since it's a relatively neutral planet for humans." He says, before he leaves the room.

And you just fall asleep in silence, barely noticing the engine of the large spaceship starting.

When you wake up again, you move into the bathroom area to clean up and use the gauze Jungkook had left you to at least provide yourself with a makeshift pad for your period. It's when you're just about done, walking out the small room, when the door opens, Jungkook entering with what looks like a metal collar,a small black box-like item attached to the side of it. "Here. Put that on." He orders, and you're not sure what he means- though you comply, having no other choice but to click the collar shut behind your neck. "It has a tracking device. For now, I've set my name as your current owner in case someone asks." He informs you, before looking around. "Put on your shoes." He says, turning around to leave the room.

"Wait- why?" You wonder, and he just turns his head for a second, staring at you.

"We'll be passing by Vides in a few hours." He simply tells you. "And since I don't know what you need, I'll be taking you out with me." He informs you, and you look at him a little longer, making him roll his eyes. "Can you put on your shoes now?" He reminds you almost as if annoyed, and you nod, scrambling to put them on before following him out of your tiny cabin you've been living in.

You're not sure for how long. Time isn't really your strong suit, and without night and day, it's hard to really pinpoint how long you've been on this ship.

"You have a spending limit of 100 currencies. Do not exceed that." He tells you as you both walk through another large door, most likely the main operating room where he lives and watches over the whole ship. There's so many buttons, noises and screens- you're both fascinated and overwhelmed.

He watches you for a moment, before the whole airship shakes, making you fall flat on your butt, before everything stills-

And he chuckles, finding your rather clumsy mistake funny.

"I'll warn you next time we land." He clears his throat, before he rather roughly pulls you up into a standing position by your arm. "Now stay close, and don't talk. Others have already been furrying the Raincode characters and doing a phenomenal job, but when I would peruse Danganrompa fanart I really liked seeing different and wildly varying interpretations for the characters' animal choices and now it is my turn, my GOD GIVEN DUTY TO PROVIDE IN THE GENISIS OF THE RAINCODE FANDOM, FOR THE HONOR OF THOSE WHO HAVE COME BEFORE ME.

For all of them I used their pose from the artbook renders. I'll say it's to keep them recognizable but that is actually a lie I'm just lazy.

Secretary Bird Halara:

Halara I did first and they were the one I was most jazzed to do because I love them dearly. I made them a secretary bird and I think it's a PERFECT fit. Ahem allow me to rattle off. Secretary birds are birds, so doomed by the narrative to have to stay away from cats, they are predatory birds and of course Halara would be at the top of the food chain. Speaking of predetory birds, secretary birds are known for their ability TO KICK VENOUMOUS SNAKES TO DEATH, AND THATS JUST TOO GOOD A FIT. They also have plumage that I could easily shape into Halara's kinda smooth swoopy hairstyle, and face markings that could be sort of representative of their glasses! I think the drawing for them is probably the weakest out of the group just because as I went along I improved and started to translate the human designs in less one to one ways, plus the pose Halara has in the artbook doesn't fit perfectly to the really big wing hand things. I still enjoyed making it because H A L A R A N I G H T M A R E but I'm honestly kinda sad at how lackluster it is compared to Fubuki and Viva who got the most interesting details and texture work. NEVER DO YOUR FAVORITE FIRST IT'S A TRAP.

Guinea Pig Desuhiko:

With Desuhiko I was going back and fourth between a few rodents, I just think he kinda looks like one and already had those pikachu cheeks. My first scetch made him a hamster, and while it DID look like him, it felt a little too... Indistinct. Desuhiko's probably my favorite design in the cast just because he looks so distinctive and has a short stocky bodytype I really really love and makes my character designer brain happy, so I swapped hamster for guinea pig. While the guinea pig face doesn't look like him quite as much as the hamster, they are very interesting and distinctive looking which I loved a lot more even with a bit of accuracy sacrificed if that makes sense. Also there are Guinea pigs with spikey wild fur that make it so I could just kinda give him his actual hair and still have it make sense. Guinea pigs are also the perfect size and shape to be thrown like a large softball and out of all the Master Detectives Desuhiko looks like he'd be the most sadisfying to chuck across a room.

Fish Fubuki:

Fubuki was really hard just because it's difficult to anthropomorphize a fish in the same way as a mammal or a avian cause of their structure. She might look a biitttt more like a fantasy creature inspired by a fish than just a fish but she's charming enough I don't completely mind. I got some SOLID advice and looked at some Splatoon NPCs characteristics to try and make her more appealing. So why fish? I got it as a suggestion that I ended up really liking because fish are notorious for their bad memory, live in tanks their whole lives(Fubuki is the definition of sheltered), and they have fins to mimic the shape of Fubukis cloak and hair. I used beta fish for reference, they don't really fit her but just being a fish was good enough for me and at that point I was prioritizing looks. She doesn't even really look like any specific species like the other three to be honest. She's defiantly the outlier of the group but that's fine, she can be special in her own unique way like always. Got a little lazy with making the hair look all that fin-like, but it's kinda the main event of her human design so I wanted to keep it as true to that as possible but looking at it now I think its tooooo copy and paste looking. Her furry design IS my brothers favorite out of the batch so that's gotta count for something!

Flying Fox Bat Vivia:

The vampire looking man was always gonna be a bat, I am but a slave to the whims of fate. I made him specifically a flying fox because they're the largest bat species and therefore can loom ominously. Vampire bat would have been fun too, but they have more of a squished bastard energy that doesn't really fit Vivia. Bats also are known for their weird sleeping habits, ala upside. Viva isn't sleeping upside down or anything like that but he DOES snooze in some weird places so I think comparing him to a bat in multiple aspects is very apt! His drawing and animal design is probably my favorite, I really like the wings, and the bat feet are super weird I loved doing those. I did have trouble incorperating his hair, flying foxes have pretty smooth heads, but they do have sort of a mane thing going on so I tried to put some of his hair texture and shape there instead. Sorry I did not give him is edgy edgy hair cut, I too love it very much but it was simply not to be. I did try to mimic it's vibe with the patterning on his head though, an illusion of his bangs.

I'm very happy with this lineup overall, they're some neat little designs if I do say so myself! I might do more but I have the chronic problem of not being able to sit still for a long time to do a BUNTCH of guys again(though for the record I would make Seth the most delightfully storm drain gutter looking creature). I also kinda wanna do Makoto and Yuma cause someone suggested a REALLY good idea for them, but the concept for Makoto with this idea would be more of an involved design that I wouldn't be able to use all of his normal outfit for so it'd probably take longer than average.

Wicked Game by Chris Isaak is about not wanting to fall in love because of the inevitable pain that comes with it. That's it, that's basically the whole story lmao

Blood Moon and Black Moon Lilith are packed full of pagan symbolism, I spent an ungodly amount of time researching witchcraft, medieval alchemy, astrology and pagan beliefs. Blood Moon is symbolic of new beginnings, and Black Moon Lilith represents your deepest repressed desires. Both themes evident in the stories

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

Very little lmao. The little Canadian tidbits are an homage to my country. I write a lot about grief and anger, imperfect parents and messy families, those are lived experiences as well

C: What character do you identify with most?

No one in particular. But my current OCs is very confident in herself and never expects others to bail her out of her problems. This is at least the person I am trying to become

Last update was 2018 :(

Plot. I get these scenes in my head, like random snippets from a movie. Once I have enough of them, I string them together.

Germatin Grammar/Diction Guide

Information on IPA

Germatin is Erscoga's dimension-wide second language. The dictionary is still a work-in-progress, but the grammar/pronunciation system has been set up. This one is for the diction nerds.

Alphabet

Germatin, like all of the languages in Erscoga, uses the same alphabet as English (and Latin). (It’s definitely not just because we don’t want to deal with typing special characters in Erscoga documents.) Although many words originate from German words, Germatin does not include any letters with umlauts.

A Note About Germatin Diction

The following page contains some rules about pronouncing words in Germatin. However, it is worth noting that ALL pronunciations in Germatin are flexible based on how an individual interprets the word, context, what sounds best when singing a sentence, etc. 

Germatin originated as a language to sing in, and while most sung pronunciations are the same across Germatin songs, some words have been pronounced in several different ways when sung (even within the same song) based on internal rhyme. The rules that follow are for the most basic pronunciation of Germatin, but most Germatin speakers will be able to understand you even with variations in pronunciation (for example, a Germatin speaker will understand [‘eɪnə] or [‘aɪnə] to be the word “eina”).

Pronunciation of Vowels

Single Vowels

A

An “A” by itself is always pronounced [a].

E

Most often pronounced [ɛ], but there are a few instances where a lone “e” is pronounced [e] (“nenov,” “veha,” “megis,” “casese,” “amre,” “asre”). 

Most final “e”s sound more like a schwa than a true [ɛ]. In the word “none” ([non]) the final “e” may be silent. 

I

If in a stressed syllable OR final, it is pronounced [i]. If in an unstressed syllable and not the final letter in a word, it is [ɪ]. 

EXCEPTION: in the pronoun “inein,” the first “i” is pronounced [aɪ] just like the “ei.”

EXCEPTION: the word “zinitz” = [‘zɪnɪts]

EXCEPTION: the word “trinre” = [‘tɾɪnrə]

EXCEPTION: in the suffix -(e)xit, the “i” is always [i].

O

Can be [o] or [a] depending on what sounds better in the word. (IDK, I can’t figure out a rule for this one).

U

Most often [u], with a few exceptions. (This does NOT apply if the “u” is part of the “qu” combo! In that case it is being used to make the [kw] sound paired with the q. “Cue,” as in “aucue,” is similar, sounding as [kju].)

EXCEPTION: in the word “usei,” and “unis” it is pronounced [ju]. “Unum” can be either [‘unum] or [‘junum].

EXCEPTION: in the word “dunter,” it is pronounced [ʌ].

EXCEPTION: in the words “numinum” and sometimes “umitum” the second “u” is pronounced [ʌ] ([‘numinʌm] and [‘umitʌm]).

Diphthongs

AE

“Ae” is always [e(ɪ)] (some Germatin speakers pronounce this as a pure [e] and some pronounce it as the [eɪ] diphthong).

AI(E)

“Ai” or “aie” is always [eɪ].

AU

“Au” is always [aʊ].

EI

Most often [aɪ] but can also be [eɪ] based on what we thought sounded best. When in doubt, either will probably work but we tend to favor [aɪ]. “Drei” is always [dreɪ].

EXCEPTION: “eiach” = [jak]/[jaχ]

EU

Most often [eɪu].

EXCEPTION: “queum” = [‘kwiəm]

NOTE: the triphthong “ieu” is [ju] instead

“Ieua” = [‘jua]

“Vieur” = [vjuɹ]/[vjʌɹ]

IA

“Ia” (with no other vowels around it) is always [ia]/[ja] depending on syllable divide/how fast you move through the word. 

Watch out for the word “teiasen,” which is pronounced [‘taɪəsɛn]—the “ei” diphthong takes precedence and turns the following “a” (which is its own syllable) into a schwa.

IE

“Ie” (with no other vowels around it) is almost always [i]. (If over a syllable divide, “ie” is [iɛ]. 

Watch out for words with “aie” or “ieu,” like “caie” ([ke]/[keɪ]) or “vieur” ([vjuɹ]/[vjʌɹ])

IO

“Io” is always [io].

UE

“Ue” isn’t very common outside of the “que” ([kwɛ]) and “cue” ([kju]) combos, but if it isn’t part of either of those, it is simply [uɛ].

NOTE: Doubling a vowel… pretty much does not do anything. You can lengthen the vowel for dramatic effect if you want, but generally a double vowel like that in “kiin” does not affect the pronunciation of the word.

Pronunciation of Consonants

B

“B” is always [b].

C

Generally, “c” followed by a/u/o is [k] and “c” followed by e/i/y is [s].

Vowel + “ch” can be an ichlaut or achlaut (following the same rules as in German) OR just [k] depending on the speaker. (Basically, it just depends on whether you can do the [ç]/[χ] sound. Either pronunciation is accepted for all relevant words.) 

“ch” + vowel at the beginning of the word is [ʃ]. “Ch” + vowel in the middle of the word is [ʃ] (“elcha” = [‘ɛltʃa]; “sichum” = [‘sitʃum]).

“Sch” is always [ʃ].

“Sc” with no h is always [sk].

D

“D” is always [d].

F

“F” is always [f].

G

“G” is almost always [g]. “Gi” tends to be [dʒi], and some words use [ʒ] (“flige”, “destagie”) just because it sounded cooler.

H

A standalone “h” is always [h]—not silent. 

K

“K” is always [k].

L

“L” is always [l].

M

“M” is always [m].

N

A standalone “n” is always [n]. “Ng” is [ŋ].

P

“P” is always [p].

Q

In pronouns and the word “quas,” “qu” = [kw]. In “quse,” it’s [kju]. Otherwise, it’s typically just [k].

R

Rs can be rhotic, flipped, or rolled according to the speaker’s preference. 

S

“S” is almost always [s]. There are only a handful of exceptions, and I haven’t figured out the pattern yet: 

EXCEPTIONS: “Asre,” “cogtasio,” “kaes,” “alnes,” “iasren,” and “ienens” all have “s”s that sound like [z].

T

A standalone “t”/”tt” is always [t]. “Th” is always [θ].

“Ts” and “st” are [ts] and [st], respectively.

There is one instance of a dental t, which occurs in the word “etteton” on the second “t.” 

V

“V” is always [v].

W

“W” is always the semiconsonant [w]. 

X

“X”s are rare, but are always pronounced [ks].

Z

A standalone “z” is always [z]. “Tz” = [ts]. 

NOTE: Doubling a consonant… also pretty much does nothing.

Grammar

Word Order

Word order is generally exactly the same as in English, so that sentences can be translated almost 1:1. The only thing that throws this off is how Germatin handles verb tenses and negation. (In English, negation can happen before the word being negated, e.g. “she is not tall” or “he is not coming,” but in Germatin all negation is handled through the suffix -nic.) When in doubt, you can always follow English grammar rules in Germatin. (As such, things like adjectives/adverbs, which are the same as in English, won’t be explained here.)

However, because Germatin exists specifically for English to be translated into for songwriting purposes, you can get extremely lazy with Germatin grammar and still get your point across using context. Germatin speakers typically use as few words as possible, unless they are trying to be poetic. 

Nouns

Unlike Latin and German, Germatin nouns do not have a grammatical gender. Thus, there are only two articles, much like in English: thas (“the”) and “eina” (“a”/”an”/”one”). Following the “use as few words as possible except when writing lyrics” rule, in everyday speech these articles would not be used unless absolutely necessary (for example, keeping “thas” out of respect in front of a proper noun, or using “eina” to specify that there was only one thing). Only proper nouns are capitalized—no pronouns are capitalized.

Nouns are pluralized using the suffix -gen. 

Possession can be shown using the possessive pronouns/adjectives (inein, tura/tusura, querer/quier/quoir, unrer) OR the suffix -et (which works like the English “‘s”). “-et” can also be used instead of a possessive adjective. 

EXAMPLES 

“Isnis istest quier.” = “The dog is hers.” “Thod istest isniset ichwich.” = “That is the dog’s sandwich.” “Inein kiin” OR “kiinet” = “my child”

Pronouns/Posessive Adjectives

NOTE: “Quoi”/”Quoem”/”Quoir” can be singular or plural, just like “tus”/”tura”/”tusura.” “Unis”/”Unum”/”Unrer” is always plural. “Ic”/”Imich”/”Inein”, “Quer”/”Querum”/”Querer”, and “Quie”/”Queum”/”Quier” are always singular. 

Verbs

One thing to note is that verbs in Germatin do not change based on the subject like they might in English (for example, “I give” vs. “she gives”). They only change with tense. 

Tenses are pretty simple in Germatin—again, following the “use as few words as possible” rule, Germatin speakers tend to use only four tenses: the simple past (“I waited”), present (“I wait”), and future (“I will wait”), and present perfect tense (“I have waited/been waiting”).

One exception is that there are two words that are used in place of the English “to be” and its forms (e.g. is, are, am, was, were, etc.). “Istest” is the most common and the only one that is typically conjugated (“ic istest”—”I am”; “ic istexit”—”I was”; “ic wertem istest”—”I will be”). “Quse” is only used if a one syllable word is necessary to fit a melody.

While you can use any tense that exists in English following the “Germatin can be translated almost 1:1 to English” rule, you can also simplify the more complex tenses to one of the four above (for example, “I go there”—”Ic ienens dorbi” replacing “I am going there”—”Ic istest ienens dorbi”). 

In the simple present tense, verbs do not change from their base form. For the past tense, add the suffix “-(e)xit.” For the future tense, add the word “wertem” (will/am going to) in front of the verb. For the present perfect tense, add the word “etha” (have/having) before the verb. 

Verbs are negated in the same way as nouns: with the suffix -nic. On past tense verbs, this suffix is added at the very end.

NOTE: With the suffix -(e)xit, the “e” is only added if the verb ends in a consonant. Some verbs like “istest” have letters taken off before the suffix so that they flow better (so the past tense of “istest” is “istexit,” not “istestexit”). 

NOTE: “Etha” (have/having) is an irregular verb. The past tense is “atha” because we came up with those words before we made the grammar rules.

NOTE: “Do” has two words that can be used depending on number of syllables needed in a sung phrase: “faen” and “nontu.” “Faen” is more common in spoken Germatin. “Faen” is also irregular for the same reason as “etha” and “amre”, with the past tense being “feit.”

EXAMPLES

“I’m sleeping” = “ic elcha” “I slept” = “ic elchexit” “I didn’t sleep” = “ic elchexitnic” “I love you” = “ic amre tus” “I loved you” = “ic amlexit tus” (NOTE: “amre” is an irregular verb because the word “amlexit” to mean “loved” was made before our grammar rules were written.) “I’ll love you” = “ic wertem amre tus” “I don’t love you” = “ic amrenic tus” “She exfoliated” = “Quie exiaremexit” “She didn’t exfoliate” = “Quie exiaremexitnic”
