My mental state is in the shitter. I’m finally feeling like what I create isn’t worth anything anymore. I don’t want to give up but I wish I had that magic touch some of y’all seem to have.

I haven’t felt good in days. Haven’t created, just existed.

I guess I finally cracked under the pressure of how much 2024 sucked and now I feel like an empty, useless lump…

I don't know what you're going through and you don't need to tell me your life story, but if you're having trouble finding that writing spark and dealing with real life, it might be best to take a break. Focus on yourself and your situation, and in your off time try and find something else that makes you comfortable. Read a good book, play a game, talk with friends, or watch a silly show. If you still want to write, then that's okay. It's just not good to compare yourself with other people. Maybe to learn how they do things, sure. But there's always going to be someone better than someone else. At the end of the day, writing isn't a competition. It's just... being. Letting yourself be an artist in words. And artists need practice to learn how to do certain things. So uh, yeah, in conclusion take a break and comparing yourself to other people is not good. Focus on what's important right now, especially if it's yourself. You're the only you you've got.

I appreciate your sentiments. I actually did have a pretty good day today. I watched a movie with a relative and it felt good, it’s the first time I’ve genuinely felt happy in a while.

And while I also appreciate your advice, it’s very difficult to put it into practice. Not so much the relaxing part, but the not comparing myself to others part. I know it’s unhealthy, but there are times when I wonder if some people are either better at marketing their brand, better communicators or flat out better authors than me. A little bit of that luck would be nice.

It’s kind of you to reach out to a stranger, I’ll do what I can to take care of myself, but I can’t guarantee anything.
