So, does everyone remember the AMV posts we used to have on here, where the post would be an audio post with the song and would have little animated gifs interspersed with the lyrics in the body of the post?
I've kinda got an idea for that sort of AMV for Danny Phantom... but it's been so long since I animated anything, much less 2D animation

@aquaquadrant and @lunarcrown 's Hels to Pay has had me absolutely captivated, especially the recent tidbit of Imagine Dragon's Sharks being an apt Bravo song...
The fic has got me in enough of a choke hold to finish my first ever animatic! Even though my art level is below doodle and more into scribble territory lol. This idea simply would not let me rest until I brought it into the world, well done or not.

Papas' Favorite Music
I was trying to think of what the various Papas all like to listen to (besides their own music, of course). I'm taking into account what we know of their personalities, their ages, overall vibe, etc. Granted, Copia will probably be the most detailed since he is the one we know the most about thanks to the Chapters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Primo: Dude is nearly a generation removed from his brothers. He was already a teenager in the sixties, so his taste skews towards the hippie movement. Although I doubt he was active in anti-war protests, I think he likely enjoyed the resulting music. Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Doors, Rolling Stones. Was dude at Woodstock? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe... Strangely, he is NOT into Elvis at all. Not that he hates him or anything, but he will change the station if Elvis comes on the radio. Jailhouse Rock is the exception to this rule. Also really likes Johnny Cash and wishes to Satan and all of the Kings of Hell that his range was as deep as Johnny's. Modern music? Today's music often leaves him a bit empty since it's so mass-produced and lacks much complexity. There are some exceptions. Adele, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, even some Taylor Swift.
Tumblr media
Secondo: Mister I Must Be Edgy himself, Secondo is one of those people who detests anything deemed "popular" by the masses. As such, he actively dislikes The Beatles, The BeeGees, the Monkees, etc. Any artist/band that had screaming teenagers after them, really. That being said, he did latch on to the burgeoning hard rock/metal genre. Aerosmith, AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath. There were two main exceptions to his hatred of popular music: Queen and David Bowie. He's not entirely sure if it's because the music is actually that good, or if he just really wants to fuck David Bowie and/or Freddie Mercury. (He did both, by the way, although not at the same time, much to his regret.) Want to see him singing into a hairbrush like a teen girl? Play Under Pressure.
Tumblr media
Terzo: He likes EVERYTHING. He doesn't give a shit what genre a song is from; if he likes it then he fucking likes it! Shakira? Yeah, his hips don't lie either, gorgeous. Backstreet Boys? Yes, please! Britney Spears? Hit HIM baby one more time! Taylor Swift? Well he was definitely trouble when he walked in. Dolly Parton? Jolene, Jolene, JOLENE, JO-LEEEEEEEEEEE-EEEEE-EEEEEEEN! Opera? You can try to tear Marriage of Figaro from his white-gloved hands. Broadway? Homeboy will belt out Defying Gravity with the best of them. Disney? He will make you WEEP with his rendition of When You Wish Upon A Star. He even likes bands that constitute his "competition". Rammstein? JAWOHL. Nightwish? He will happily walk the Elvenpath. Random internet hits? He literally harassed Secondo with What Does the Fox Say? for three weeks when the song first came out. And Baby Shark. If a song spawns a meme, Terzo is all over that shit. And, yes, he has Rick-Rolled pretty much everyone at one point or another. Copia continues to fall for it. However, he LIKES that song, so the joke's on Terzo.
Tumblr media
Copia: Speaking of Copia; much like Terzo, his tastes defy genres. He is very much into anything with a theatrical bend. Broadway and movie musicals are his bread and butter, including Disney/Dreamworks/etc soundtracks. He will put on entire one-man versions of shows to an audience consisting entirely of his pet rats. He ALMOST has that rap in Hamilton down. You know the one. There is a debate on whether taking Copia to Walt Disney World at any point would be a fantastic idea or a terrible one. Because he absolutely will sing at the top of his lungs the entire time and may frighten some small children. And yes, he absolutely has cried listening to Terzo sing When You Wish. With that as the foundation for his music tastes, he mostly likes music that tells a story or that has an accompanying music video that plays out a story of some kind. Think Meatloaf, Michael Jackson, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, 30 Seconds To Mars, etc. That need for a story does spill over into his own music videos; Rats, Danse Macabre, Hunter's Moon, and Jesus He Knows Me. (I consider anything released after 2018 to be Copia's writing, with the exception of Mary On A Cross and Kiss the Go-Goat since they are Nihil's songs in-universe).
Fun Unrelated Fact: If my math is right, Primo is a baby boomer, albeit a young one. Meanwhile, the other three are thick into Gen X territory. Splains a lot, eh?

~ Imagine Dragons Concert ~
First of all, Dan sounds good live!
"We're Walking the Wire" was beautiful live. 🥹
I loved the uplifting, encouraging songs, such as "We're Walking the Wire" and "Whatever It Takes".
The backdrops with the moving graphics for each song was gorgeous! I have so many videos and screenshots so I can't recall which exact song(s) I liked the most as far as graphics go, but "Sharks" was neat. The backdrops were basically set up like underwater (obviously) with sharks swimming. A few close up of sharks too, which was cool.
Hearing some of the songs from the 2010s like "Thunder" and "Radioactive" was nice.
Apparently "It's Time" was on the setlist, but I swear I do not recall hearing it! ... And I love that song. 🥺 I was lowkey hoping that they would play that. I definitely would have recorded it.
I was not expecting Dan to take his shirt and shorts off, but there we were... Lmao, and my God, was he ripped. We're talking muscles, 6 pack, etc. The whole package, Poppy!
I loved hearing my favorite songs live and the whole concert itself, but one thing that really stood out to me was Dan talking about mental health. He proceeded to tell us how Imagine Dragons came about followed by things he struggled with growing up in his teen years and even now as an adult. He ended his (2.5 minute) speech by assuring us audience members that we are loved and to please not leave this world.
(I'll post the video on my account soon!)
Again, I have a lot of favorite songs, but the ones I enjoyed the most were "Bones" and "Enemy".
That's...about it! It was a wonderful concert overall. 🩷
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY OH MY GODDDD OK OK:
dan's voice is absolutely incredible! i hope he was screaming a lot during your show because, oh dear lord, i do love guys who scream (*cough cough* tyler joseph *cough cough*) and dan just happens to be very good at it (my favourite imagine dragons songs are actually the ones where he screams lmao)
walking the wire will always be one of the most important songs to me. it was their newest single when they had a show in poland in 2017 and they actually performed it live for the first time that day AND I WAS THERE. i was there. good all days. beautiful song. ahh.
the thing about sharks makes me so incredibly happy for the dumbest reason ever (not because i love the song but because i fucking love sharks shhjdvjsevjh i'm sorry)
i'm pretty sure they still sing radioactive at every single one of their shows which is pretty cool because i love this song so fucking much and i know a lot of people hate it because it's their most popular song, but that could never be me, radioactive is my baby forever and always. i also love thunder. used to sing it all the time with my best friend (who's no longer in my life. but i always think about him when i hear this one. i hope he's doing alright)
what do you mean they didn't perform it's time, it's the most imagine dragons song ever, WHY OH WHY JAIL FOR THEM!!!
he DID WHAT NOW... what do you mean dan was stripping on stage, oh dear lord. to absolutely no one's surprise, i used to have a huge crush on him (why do i always have to have a crush on my favourite artists genuinely what the hell is wrong with me but dan is really hot ok ok), i would probably fucking die. oh dear lord. omg. can you hear mE SCREAMING-
oh, i absolutely fucking love it when he talks about mental health. it always makes me cry but also i always felt so fucking proud because i can only assume how hard it is for him. i know he's been struggling a lot in his life. it's always nice to know you are not alone. makes you feel seen.
i know nobody asked for it, but i found an old video from my show from two years ago and i just want to share it with you. i was really close. and he was wearing a very slutty shirt that day. you're welcome.
i'm so glad you had fun!!! can't wait to see the video from your show!!!

Penrose Song of the Day, Day 39: London Calling by The Clash
So I used to scorekeep hockey games a lot. Like a lot a lot. There was a period of time where I could make about 400 bucks a week scorekeeping games on the weekends. I ran the scoreboard, the reporting to Gamesheet (A scorekeeping app), kept a paper scoresheet, and did the music. It was a lot of work to run all 4 of those things at once! Especially if a game got busy.
I've done house level, Travel level, AA and AAA, Really everything. At a certain point you learn the scoreboard machine. You learn when to click what buttons when which whistles blow and you start to get almost mechanical. Like an automaton that reacts to specific noises. And the thing is that no matter how great or badly I did at scorekeeping, no one ever mentioned it after. I could royally fuck up putting the score on the board and I would still get called back the next week to do the clock. Parents notoriously hate working the scoreboard- they just want to watch their kid and get in fights with the refs. Easy money. I charged 60 bucks a game and they forked it over gladly (Hockey parents don't care man. They're paying 8k for the season anyways sometimes. House is like 2k, travel can be way more with hotels, airfare, etc. It's an expensive sport. What's an extra 60 bucks a season to not have to sit in the box and freeze while missing Timmy score a goal.)
What I CONSISTENTLY got praise for was the music I played.
Now I think I have good taste, but I'm not like. Special. Most people have similar tastes, everyone's on the bell curve of "can tell a song is good" vs. "Carrying tunes in tin buckets". It's helped by the fact that some things are kind of obliged- certain songs are, for lack of a better word, required (For instance, Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis is a Chicago Goal song. So if you are doing hockey music in Chicago, you ARE including that song no matter what. Period). So building a good playlist isn't that hard. A little The Alan Parson's Project to kick the games off. Some Chumbawumba for after a tough hit. The Hockey Song because this is Youth Hockey.
The mainstay of the list, for better or worse, is a classic rock/arena rock/current pop mix. It's what people expect, it's what I mostly have to deliver. Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Huey Lewis and the News, Duran Duran, One Republic, that kind of thing. It's consistently a crowd pleasing list, and it's gotta have energy, be recognizable, and be something that people will want to hear possibly twice over a hockey game. The original playlist was something like 50-60 songs. I thought that would be enough, because I am stupid. Turns out hockey games have 30-50% of their game time with the clock stopped- as in, the times when someone would typically play music to fill dead air. So I added more songs. Put on some Rush because I'm catering to the Dad demo. Putting Imagine Dragons and Boss Beat music in its natural habitat (Don't look at me like that, I've been to sporting events, these songs are made for this). Some pop girlies because I like sports, but I'm still gay. Kesha. Lady Gaga's Bad Romance (permissible due to it surviving in the zeitgeist, etc.).
And then I got... weird with it. One of the first goal songs I ever used was Otherworld. As in, the boss music for when you fight Jecht in Final Fantasy X. VGR's Electronic Amp-Up of Mii Channel features prominently and is a huge crowdpleaser with the 25-45 crowd. Baby Shark exists for when I want to annoy people. Megolovania is on it for god's sake. If it sounds good and is a little Easter egg for someone listening, trust and believe that I put that song on the list.
People loved it. Every game, without fail, between 1 and 3 people would find me after to compliment the music. The playlist was good! I named it "18U no vursing" and have used it for about 6-7 years now.
The problem with making a good playlist is that you have to constantly top yourself. I wanted to make the list better. Have more fun with it, include more jokes, more clever remixes and mashes. Things that people would like.
What made that easy was something so simple I almost overlooked it. People already told me what they would like. There's a reason arena rock, classic rock, and pop music are the bog standard. It's what works for the medium and what people like to listen to.
There's such a thing as getting too in the weeds, too obscure. You gotta remember your audience, your goals, and your scope. I wasn't debuting hot new artists (ok I was sometimes). I was playing music for people during their kid's sport. And so I readjusted my scope. The playlist grew. A few indie picks, the gags that worked (Mii Channel, Baby Shark, Electronic music with a hidden secret, etc.), but mostly pop and rock and that's all.
I'll let you in on the secret for why my hockey playlist got so good and why people started to love it so much. I'll tell you the secret to making any list popular. I started getting suggestions.
And I listened to them.
The first song I added to the playlist due to a suggestion was London Calling. I like The Clash, but there's billions of songs out there, I hadn't thought to put them on yet. But a ref skated up to me during stoppage of play and said "Hey do you have The Clash on there?" and I realized I didn't. I added it mid-game and played it between the 2nd and 3rd periods.
He thanked me after the game.
A couple weeks later I was asked if I had the soundtrack for Slap Shot on there. I started playing Maxine Nightingale, Leo Sayer, the works. The guys had a hoot and were laughing and smiling between periods.
I noticed that refs were a little nicer when I flubbed the scoreboard if I was playing songs they requested.
I asked one of my teams if they had a specific warmup song they wanted me to play. They were delighted to tell me it was Levels by Avicii. I played it every game to kick things off. Another team told me it was Welcome to DC by Mambo Sauce. A third said Welcome to the Jungle.
The playlist grew. It's 400 songs long now. Like a full 24 hours straight.
I don't scorekeep as much now. But I think I'll keep building the playlist, thanks.
~~~~~~~~
Scorekeeping was nice, but playing the music was the part that made it fun. It's made me realize one thing about myself- If Radio DJ was still a job in a way that was meaningful or mattered, I would want that job. I would probably kill for that job, actually. Listening to callers tell me they missed Chappell Roan could I please play Good Luck Babe. Or telling me that their dad's favorite song was Mr. Blue Sky so thank you so much for playing it. Girls having me play Before He Cheats for their dick ex-boyfriend. Wishing people Happy Pride with an hour mix of queer artitst. Having call in time so people could just chat.
I kind of am doing that here, and now, but in slow, painstakingly written, long-form music recommendations. I like making playlists. I love getting music dialogue going with my followers. I like discovering new music, and talking about it with people here. I am slowly, surely, working the same muscles I would need to do exactly that job, just quietly and in my own personal little corner of the world.
You know I have a discord server I made? I haven't added anyone to it, and I probably won't do anything with it. Yet. It's called Radio Waystation. Let me just link the only post I've made in there so far:
"This is for playing your music and sharing it- I might set up a radio rotation but. Essentially I want to use voicechat to let us showcase our music to each other when we want to. Dynamically- You can run a prepared playlist for your radio time, you can do a Q&A or ~Call In~ time. You can actively Disc Jockey. You just have to share your sounds to other people. Your radio time, your rules- you can acquiesce to people's tastes, you can troll people, you can play the sound of silence. You can play the same song over and over. You can express yourself. And sometimes people will say THAT SUCKS and not enjoy your presentation, but ultimately your time is yours alone. (no tolerance of intolerance loophole bullshit- you know what kind of shit will get you pulled off the air, don't be a dirtbag). Workshop a song, get help putting ikea together. But I hope you play some music."
Hey I'm nothing if not consistent.
I now know that's a lot more complicated due to how Spotify and Discord interact, and whether it's strictly speaking legal (I am intimately familiar with music licensing requirements due to my past job, thanks). But I think it's something worth figuring out someday. Someday soon, I think. I want to make my radio station.
Not a lot of today's writeup was about the song, unfortunately. And that's a bit of a shame, because again- I like The Clash. 1970's English Punk Rock had some bangers, babes, and London Calling is like. one of the greats. A recognizeable guitar part, a truly bangin bassline leading in, and just the most moshable, jumpable lyric delivery. You need to be standing pressed against the stage screaming this stuff out with Joe Strummer.
Listen I don't need to defend The Clash bigger nerds than I have done so for far longer than I've been alive. But hey. It's music I love. And as always- You could be dead right now. Go listen to something that you love.
MM Monster Romance: Human x Eldritch Horror Mermaid
Feels gratuitous writing such a post with my own characters but!! I’m just too huge of a Mermay fan to not do something this fun, so let’s go!
Hillsburg would go from the hinterlands of Massachusetts to the coast for magical Innsmouth vibes
the locals beware the sea and its legendary creatures
friendly neighborhood bear Christopher in particular is scared to death of what lurks beneath the waves
until one day
he frees what he thinks is a giant fish from a fishing net, stranded on Hillsburg's pale moonlight shore because what else would that thing be
the fish disappears in the depths of the sea and Christopher never sees it again...
though he is certain he does see giant fins and pink flashes above the lighthouse for the next few days and has a goddamn headache driving him insane 👀
...only to run into the most gorgeous, kindest, dreamiest guy he's ever met! 💜
amidst this chaos, Gyth is the absolutely sweetest and most comforting presence in Christopher's life
but he has a secret, of course... 🦑
Gyth and his body
I like to imagine Gyth still has his everchanging shapeshifter qualities as a mermaid, to the point where his full-on monster form looks the same, just underwater?
the tentacles, of course, fit here perfectly (and elsewhere, just ask Christopher)
he still adores sweets
his pink lights also stay, probably resembling deep sea luminescence
Come to think of it: Gyth is already pretty mermaid-y!
he keeps his whale song, trills, and click sounds, as well as his ocean-like pocket dimension
instead of a dragon tongue, he now sports a moray tongue ✨
he can summon sea storms and clean/poison bodies of water
his mermaid tail would change colors and end in thin and filamentous fins 💙
He would still love to sing, except now he has a siren song he can use as both a lover and a fighter. And for telepathic communication!
Vibes in general
Christopher being afraid of the ocean and Gyth taking him anyway
Gyth trying to teach Christopher to swim (which is understandably difficult for someone who only occasionally has human limbs)
cuddling while floating on the ocean waves beneath a starry sky
Gyth's absolutely fucked-up sea creature friends 👀
the scene where Gyth tries winking at Christopher during the big rescue but underwater
Christopher singing to the ocean 💗
growing fish eyes, gills, fins, webbing between fingers, and all that good stuff
Gyth scaring off bigots with his shark teeth grin
the two of them freeing some guy's aquarium fish lol
long! walks! on! the! beach!!!
.
This is so fun!! But now I have a thousand new ideas 😭❤️
Thank you for reading! Check out my novel "Far Beyond The Moon" if you want more of Christopher and Gyth!
What is your OC's "villain song"? forValloo
Imagine Dragons - Sharks
Vallo is a Very confident individual, though he would certainly labor under his own beliefs of good and evil, and 100% believe he is doing the best thing for everyone.
Tumblr media
He is determined, and assertive. He is also Aggressively sure he is in the right, so much so that it could be the downfall of his plans.
Linked Universe Theme Songs Pt. 2
Sharks by Imagine Dragons for Four
One line that kind of sticks out to me is "dancing with the very devil, butter to knife." Now, I haven't read the manga for FS but I do know that Vio ends up being a mole for the rest of the colors. He ends up "dancing" with the "devil," the devil being Vaati.
"You're just the same as them, same as them," referring to the fact that the colors are all technically the same person but their own persons at the same time.
"First you're in then you're out, everybody knows," the fear of what the others would say about the colors after Wilds reaction?
"My blood is pumping, I can see the end is right in front of me, don't take it from me, I could be everything." I don't know why, but I just feel like that line matches.
"You're hot then you're cold, you're a light in the dark," Blue. Need I say more?
(from a chat I had with someone earlier this week)
Try to prove me wrong.
OKAY so ive been mulling over what the villain songs for each person would be IF they were the villain/had a villain arc AND I have a couple of them figured out w a little explanation for them as well (under the cut)
Wayne/Raj - sharks by imagine dragons
[more of a fun reason then any actual character ties LOL i just love the idea of them being fake nice and then mean and like i think the sharks theme ties in really well !!!]
Emma - I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift
[have you SEEN THE LYRICS this is totally her if she didnt fall back with chase. i literally have a whole storyline/elim order reworked for her villain arc you dont understand]
Julia - Castle by Halsey
[such a good julia song like !!! the whole camera/paparazzi bits and then how it shifts to unashamed ambition like !!!]
Scary Girl - Villain by Stella Jang
[again just a fun villain song !! super in character for her too i think. shes just there to have fun !!]
Chase - Emperors New Clothes by P!ATD
[idk i just like the evil influencer vibes lol. super conceited and indulgent but could also be read with the same ignorance he has canonically]
Priya - Oh No! by MARINA
[i think it rlly ties into her whole complicated relationship w total drama ?? and i think she wouldnt necessarily be mean as a ‘villain’ but instead just like. super winning obsessed and i think this song would translate the obsession well ??? idk]
ooh, what’s The Charlatan’s Song?
So this is less exciting than most of my WIPs I think! (Although the title is a banger hahaha) It's a Wyll/Tav story.
So my Tav (Pimpernel) is based on a half-baked idea I've had for a D&D character I've never gotten to play. In the game I made her a halfling with the charlatan background, and she's a bard that claims to be a heroic figure from a minor noble house that was disowned after a torid love affair with a woman from a much more well-established house that was about to enter an arranged marriage. She dueled her love's fiancé and won (earning a scar on her cheek in the process) but was disowned because of the negative attention it brought her own house, and she now travels throughout the land saving people from their issues and then earning money through telling her tale in taverns.
It's all a lie, as the charlatan background indicates. Her family are farmers or ranchers and are quite poor. The scar on her cheek is from a simple work accident (one idea I had was it's an injury from a boar's tusk while she was hunting or protecting her family's livestock). Her parents were killed while on the road traveling to sell their wares and she's either the oldest or second oldest of a ton of kids, many of whom aren't adults yet, and since she was dissatisfied living out in the boonies she used it as an excuse to leave and finally live out an adventure like the books she loves. Another adult sibling of hers is now the parent figure for the rest of her siblings, and she sends a lot of the money she earns as a bard back to them. Oh, and originally I planned on her having the gambler background (which isn't an option in BG3)...because the other way she earns money is by cheating in games of chance and generally being a card shark. The real reason she moves around a lot isn't because she's always on the hunt for people to protect, it's because if she sticks around too long in one place she risks getting caught. She's seen a bit of combat because she lives on the road, but not NEARLY to the extent she claims to, she's low level.
So imagine my shock when I realize Wyll is ACTUALLY the person she claims to be--a true hero, who actually is the disowned child of a noble house. Didn't know his background at all until I started playing the game and was blown away by the coincidence once I got to Waukeen's Rest.
I originally intended to romance Astarion but fumbled that BADLY (she might be lying about being a hero but she still WANTS to be one, so of course she was constantly helping others and I did not read him well at all until I got to the scene with the blood merchant so he's constantly irritated with her despite constantly getting inspiration from her because they're both charlatans lol). And once Wyll started talking about enjoying to dance...I mean, she's a BARD HALFLING, of course she's going to bug him to dance with her, so it was pretty natural to fall into Wyll's romance instead. (This is also more or less how I started getting into Wyllstarion, since they were the characters I was interacting with the most.)
The thing is...obviously the game isn't set up to give me a chance to actually play out this whole elaborate backstory with Pimpernel pretending to be the type of person Wyll actually is, only to have to admit it later to him that she's been lying about who she is. It makes sense that I can't, how in the world would a game be able to account for that? The only way I could think of would be if they did something like what Bioware did with the backstories for Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect and Larian obviously wanted more open-ended characters for the players.
I really wished there was some way I could express what was going on with Pimpernel in the game, but I couldn't do it particularly well, so...I started trying to write it, and that's what A Charlatan's Song is.
“Oh Wyll, I never said she was a princess!” Pimpernel responded, in a tone that implied she very much was one. “Alas, it was quite a scandal. She loved me, but…well, if we had run off together, it would have damaged not only her reputation, but her family’s. So in the end, she refused me. And my family was quite mortified, and I’m one child of many, so it was easy to just…send me on my way, rather than keep me around as the family embarrassment.”
“I’m sorry. That must have been difficult.”
“Oh, no no, I’m well suited for a life on the road. I’ve found I fit in much better in a tavern than I do in a ballroom, as much as I enjoyed my life there.” She shrugged. “And well…now you know.”
Behind her there was a slow, mocking clap. Pimpernel turned to look over her shoulder at Astarion, who was looking at her with a fang-baring grin. “Bravo! Quite deftly told, as you expect from a bard. It almost sounds like something out of a romance novel!”
Pimpernel swallowed and did her best to maintain her composure. “It does, doesn’t it? But it’s all true, I’m afraid.”
“Oh, of course, of course.”
[...]
Now he was digging into the chinks of her armor. She had something to lose, and he had been revealed and stayed safe. He had a natural royal flush, and she’d already played all her best cards.
She could only hope he’d decide to keep her secrets, for now.
So the PROBLEM IS as interesting as it would be to actually get to play this out in game...I dunno how to make her actually interesting as a character on the page without just huuuuge amount of exposition dump (I deleted a lot from this post!!) and internal monologues, and especially since I'm pretty settled in the no-Tav discord I'm just not all that interested in writing about my OC over the established characters in the game. I also don't have a good ending (my constant problem lol), especially since I still need to actually beat the game, so...ehhh...this one will probably stay abandoned at this point. Ah, well.
question for ur Koopa headcanon what song best describes Bowser, Junior, Ludwig, Morton, Lemmy, Iggy, Roy, Wendy, and Larry (individually) (doesn't have to be sung by them if you know what I mean)
Bowser: I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic At The Disco or Monster By Skillet
Bowser Jr: Burn The House Down by AJR
Ludwig: Behtoven's 5th symphony but If it's verbal any song sung by Queen or Lonely Imagine Dragons
Lemmy: Subway Sexisits or Lola by The Kinx
Roy: My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark by Fallout Boy
Iggy: Pork Soda by Glass Animals or The Cult Of Dionysus by The Orion Experience
Wendy: Toxic by Britney Spears
Morton: Grilled Cheese Obama Sandwich
Larry: Shark Attack by Grouplove
Also, I feel like Iggy and Lemmy would share Hip Hop Kids by Portugal The Man as a special song ngl
Ok. What was that about songs? I’m READY. Totally all ears.
Are there any about Inej’s happy tie laughter and - Wylan’s fund for his father’s lawyer?
ask me about six of crows
AhH, thank you for indulging me sjsjs I am so sorry it took like 3 to 5 business days to finally answer this--- I was letting myself get too carried away with songs before I eventually made myself cut out down lmao.
I'll put the rest under readmore for the sake of sparing anyone who does not care sks
Oddly enough, I'm not starting off with Kanej but with Helnik because the song West Coast by Imagine Dragons makes my heart ache when I think of them. I could put every single lyric on here buT I'll refrain-- sorta. I'll make sure to just elaborate on this one and the Kanej one I have ---
In particular though--- the bridge describes their ending so well.
"I'll change my ways if you would stay And all your tears that you have cried will go away Oh, just grant me one more day Oh, my love, please don't give up See the Devil at my door I see the future of the ones that I've ignored I guess I was born to be at war And, my love, I won't give up So, my love, please don't give up."
Matthias being so ready to just go with Nina wherever that may be. Matthias wanting to to just be with her one more time that he uses every last bit of strength he has to make to her before he dies. The war line alluding to both of them and their lives as soldiers. It just HITS me in the heart 'cause it reminds me of them especially when I think of it all leading up to their moments together in Crooked Kingdom and Matthias' oath to her.
The pre-chorus also --
"I ain't no Superman, I ain't no Holy Ghost I'm just the one who keeps you up at night, you love the most I'll be your strong man, I'll be your West Coast I'll be the sun, I'll be the waves, I'll be the one you love the most."
---
For Kanej, the song Easy for You to Say by 5SOS. Once again, I want to throw out all the lyrics of the song fit Kaz's pov but I will stick to only one verse ----
"I feel it in moments, a semblance of free Between all the gaspin', I finally breathe So I hold on so tightly in times that I see Someone with striking resemblance to me A darkness that holds me and loves when I bleed It locks all the doors and then hides all the keys Wish someone had told me what I couldn't see A glimmer of hope that was starin' at me."
This song in particular come to when thinking of the infamous, "I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all," because the song is about saying one thing but having a hard time following through and that definitely happened with Kaz then. He was trying to be honest--- but the timing was off and wasn't ready to commit to what he needed to be willing to do to be with Inej.
"Easy for you to say Harder for me to take This nostalgia in my bones Why can't I forget it?"
I have more songs for them but this one has struck me the most at the moment.
----
And here I'll just narrowed it down to one or two songs (for most, couldn't help myself with Inej and Kaz) and won't go on a tangent for any of them for the sake of brevity haha.
The Crows as a Whole: Rescue Me by OneRepublic, Sharks by Imagine Dragons, Crossfire by Rag'nBone Man; Seven Nation Army cover by Haley Reinhart (Post-Modern Jukebox) Inej: Hallowed Ground by Bishop Briggs. Mine by Phoebe Ryan, Wanted by OneRepublic, Art of Survival by Bishop Briggs, Praying by Kesha Kaz: Cutthroat by Imagine Dragons, Payback by Vo, Lost by NF Feat Hopsin, Blinding by Florence + The Machine Jesper: Run and Go by TOP; Bang! by Ajr, Mistake by NF Nina: Dear Departed by The Band Perry; Baggage by Bishop Briggs Matthias: Changing of the Guard by Rag'n'Bone Man Wylan: Not Today by TOP Kanej: Kings by The Pierces Helink: Nostalgia by The Band Perry Wesper: So Tied Up by Cold War Kids (Specifically book wise) Bonus one for the Trio (Kaz, Inej, Jesper): Next to Me by Imagine Dragons
End of tangent but feel free to ask me about any of the songs if you wanna know why I chose them for the characters -- and feel free to tell me any songs you associate with the characters!
Last Life playlist
Explaining my song choices for the Last Life segment of my Traffic Series playlist
Lost in the Wild by WALK THE MOON: Something about the forest setting and the rampant paranoia and destruction of this season feeds into the vibe of this song so well. “Don’t look over your shoulders, let’s get lost in the wild.”
Sharks by Imagine Dragons: The constant fear of the bogeyman and the distrust it sows is so deeply embedded in this season. “Better put your head on swivels, dancing with the very devil[…] He’s coming to get you.”
I Know Places by Taylor Swift: The threat of the bogeyman curse hangs over everyone’s head, making all alliances tentative. “See the vultures circling dark clouds, love’s a fragile little flame it could burn out.” But as the bogeyman frantically whittles at the number of people on green, Scott and especially Pearl become key targets. “They’ll be chasing their tails trying to track us down ‘cause I know places we won’t be found. They are the hunters, we are the foxes, and we run.”
Honest by Tessa Violet: Scott getting hit by the bogeyman curse. “I try and hide from what’s inside you, you can run but you can’t hide[…] Guess I’m not doing well, I’m not doing well.”
Sirens by Imagine Dragons: The curse at work in its bogeyman’s mind, Scott tries to resist it but it persists. “Boy with a heart of gold, get run over by heaven knows what. Weary soldier, I get older, life gets colder. Sometimes I get a little bit scared at night. I get a little preoccupied — the sirens in my mind, the sirens in my mind. I just wanna be good again, I wanna make it to the end. The sirens in my mind […] drowning me out.”
Fallin’ by Cemetery Sun: Scott giving in to the curse and killing Impulse (by pushing him off a ledge, no less). “When war breaks out inside my head something has to give. Something has to give ‘cause I’m fallin’.”
Monster by Imagine Dragons: Scott getting the curse again. “I never said that I want this, this burden came to me and has made its home inside.” Him telling his allies that he’s the bogeyman and deciding to let it take him instead. “If I told you what I was would you turn your back on me? And if I seemed dangerous would you be scared? […] I’m taking a stand to escape what’s inside me: a monster, a monster, I’ve turned into a monster[…] and it keeps getting stronger.”
Tip Toes by half•alive: Scott wrestling with the curse, fighting and resisting it. “Will I always know this divide, living most of this war inside? Take this ghost of me with the tide to die and release my heart to come alive. […] Leaving my heart behind — it’s bleeding — but still my pride is screaming: my future will listen to me, listen to me, listen to me!!”
Bleeding Out by Imagine Dragons: Scott preferring to die to the curse than let it turn him against Pearl. “I’m bleeding out ‘cause the last thing that I’ll do is bring you down. I’ll bleed out for you.”
Ok ok? by half•alive: Scott letting the curse kill him, assuring his friends and allies he’ll be alright. “Far too great a toll it’s played on me, the animal of destiny. I have seen it from afar, seen it’s teeth and felt its claws, felt it ripping me apart to find my place among the stars. It’s ok. (Is it ok?).”
10x Stronger by Dominic Fike: Scott putting on a strong front, fighting wars both internal and external. “I pretend I’m ten times stronger for you.”
You & I by Gentle Bones: Pearl seeing the toll being the bogeyman has taken on Scott. “You make it look so easy when you’re hardly alright. You smile when you don’t need to, but you’re crying at night.” Their reunion when they’re both red. “Who am I to say it’s okay? Let us try to make it through the day. I told you I’m sorry when you were scared, reaching out a hand for you to hold. Lean on my shoulder until it’s all over even though we know you don’t need to.” Splitting up in the final fight, Pearl’s death pushing Scott to fight to win. “It’s okay to say that you don’t have the fight, but if you don’t mind, just leave me to try for you and I. It’s you and I.”
The Archer by Taylor Swift: “I’m ready for combat. I said I don’t want that, but what if I do?” The final fight. Only four, then three, then two left. Scott is a warrior who doesn’t want to fight, but still he thrives. He’s been a target this entire season, he gave up his chance for revenge and greed, he’s been unendingly loyal. “I’ve been the archer. I’ve been the prey. Who could ever leave me, darling? But who could stay?”
Geniuses and Thieves by Gentle Bones: Scott killing Martyn and Ren, securing his victory. “Hold me back, simmer me down, I’m better than before. […] Must all bestowed upon you be deserved. I’ve been at my worst and so I’ll come to you, and oh I’ll find you. And then I cave in a thousand times.”
