the level at which people are misusing the term "Never Again" in the far left absolutely infuriates me.
"Never Again" doesn't refer to the idea of no more genocides -- unfortunately people are evil and corrupt and seek scapegoats and destruction, there were genocides in the years following the Holocaust, there were genocides 10 years ago, there are multiple genocides going on as we speak
"Never Again" means we as Jews will pay attention to the warning signs, will not mindlessly allow antisemitism to fester and take over our communities, we will fight back. it means we will be proud. it means we will not let you hate us without a word of refusal.
"Never Again" is a warning for us, it is a reminder that what happened then can happen now -- is happening now. The Far Left doesn't get to use it against us. You don't get to turn our tragedies into hate-speech and antisemitic rhetoric.

Say more about the weird violent sexual attraction River inspires in the people he meets, please
With pleasure.
You see, it's all about, to start with, Spider, and his psychosexual obsession with River (RIP king, you are missed). It's about Spider ruining River's life again and again even when no one is forcing his hand. It's about the bitchiness and pettiness and Spider bringing up what River does with his dick during work hours. It's about those fucking faces he makes when River throws him up against a filing cabinet. He wanted River to fuck him so bad it made him look stupid (and also ruin River's life. and also in a roundabout way kind of got him killed. But you could also blame that on him being a dick. Again, RIP).
It's all about Spider concocting an elaborate plan to first, get River to angrily threaten and toss him up against things some more, all while playing mind games, second, get the shit beat out of River, and third, stage a public humiliation scene where he reveals everything while his colleagues ooooo and laugh and clap along AND WHERE he both talks about the size of his penis and tells River to quit the service and instead go do porn on OnlyFans.
Also why are the Chieftan bros so into this? They don't know River, they have no stake in this. But see, that's just the effect River Cartwright has on people.
It's all about Duffy telling River he'd like to watch him get eaten feet first by pigs. Like, that's weird. That's violent. That's fucked up. Stansted and the Code September barely had any impact on Duffy, so why is he so angry? Why does he care so much? Why is he spending his time fantasising about elaborate ways for River to die? (see above)
It's all about the repeated threats of violence and Duffy calling him 'sunshine' as he and the dogs toss him into a car to be taken to a locked cell under the Park where Duffy will proceed to beat the shit out of an unarmed River while bringing up River's daddy issues. Which, he apparently knows about. And is apparently thinking about a more than 0 amount. Which is of course is normal and not weird.
It's all about Hobbs wanting to watch River humiliate himself in front of a crowd of recruits. It's all about Hobbs telling River he wants a recording of River humiliating himself in front of a crowd of recruits because he's going to jerk off to it, with an implication that he's worn out his old material which I guess may or may not have also involved River. And it's all about Hobbs then joining in with Duffy to beat the shit out of an unarmed River in a locked cell under the Park.
It's also all about the three of them in said locked cell talking a lot about River's dick and balls and potential lack thereof, while they beat the shit out of him.
It's all about how in the books Patrice kidnaps River, wrecks his shit, and then tells people passing by not to worry, his boyfriend is just having a panic attack because he gets claustrophobic on the tube. It's all about Patrice sitting down next to River, putting his arm around him to keep up the charade and whispering to him how easy it is/would be to hurt him. It's all about Patrice, later, kissing River on the cheek, telling him they'll talk soon, and then going off to murder his grandfather and Slough House colleagues.
(and it's, you know, a little bit about River doing the tossing of Spider up against things and getting one over on Hobbs and egging Duffy on while refusing to fight back and bringing up personal things that conflict with Patrice's brainwashed child soldier conditioning and I guess just in general being a beautiful, bitchy, blond man constantly getting into trouble)

listen i think river is a really interesting character and reducing him to just "cop" is a huge disservice to him but i also think it's equally disingenuous to completely divorce him from that as well. i think it's important to recognize he was a cop, and that even if he wasn't actively involved with corruption he probably did harm while he was with the ncpd just by merit of being with the ncpd and upholding a violent and broken system. that should not be ignored even if he is no longer a cop at the end of his story, in fact it should be examined, it should be unpacked ESPECIALLY as someone leaving the force and trying to find new and better ways to help people and to cope with what damage the ncpd does to people and the power that it holds.

I feel like Nas'hrah is misunderstood as a character. Is he an asshole? In life and in godhood, absolutely, but the Nas'hrah we see is likely not the Nas'hrah we hear stories of, and we'll probably never know what he was like in his prime. All the other new gods hate him, so we can only take their testimonies with a grain of salt, and his own sense of self is massively inflated. I think the only time we see anything close to the real deal is in those tiny moments where he seems lucid, such as when you arrive at the golden throne, and he warns you in such a calm and kind manner which seems massively out of character, but I think that's closer to who he really is. I think his overly crass personality is just a product of his mind being absolutely broken after *vaguely gestures at his long ass timeline*

What if Alys Rivers represents the gods of the riverlands (or is a god herself) sent to watch over the land and protect it and it’s people and she ends up leading daemon and aemond to their own destruction to pay for the pain and destruction they inflicted on the riverlands?

No evidence of inflated mortality reporting from the Gaza Ministry of Health
Benjamin Q Huynh, Elizabeth T Chin, Paul B Spiegel
Published: December 06, 2023
Mortality reporting is a crucial indicator of the severity of a conflict setting, but it can also be inflated or under-reported for political purposes. Amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza, some political parties have indicated scepticism about the reporting of fatalities by the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH).
The Gaza MoH has historically reported accurate mortality data, with discrepancies between MoH reporting and independent United Nations analyses ranging from 1·5% to 3·8% in previous conflicts. A comparison between the Gaza MoH and Israeli Foreign Ministry mortality figures for the 2014 war yielded an 8·0% discrepancy.2 Public scepticism of the current reports by the Gaza MoH might undermine the efforts to reduce civilian harm and provide life-saving assistance. Using publicly available information, we compared the Gaza MoH's mortality reports with a separate source of mortality reporting and found no evidence of inflated rates. We conducted a temporal analysis of cumulative-reported mortality within Gaza for deaths of Gazans as reported by the MoH and reported staff member deaths from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), from Oct 7 to Nov 10, 2023. These two data sources used independent methods of mortality verification, enabling assessment of reporting consistency.
We observed similar daily trends, indicating temporal consistency in response to bombing events until a spike of UNRWA staff deaths occurred on Oct 26, 2023, when 14 UNRWA staff members were killed, of whom 13 died in their homes due to bombings. Subsequent attacks raised the UNRWA death rate while MoH hospital services diminished until MoH communications and mortality reporting collapsed on Nov 10, 2023. During this period, mortality might have been under-reported by the Gaza MoH due to decreased capacity. Cumulative reported deaths were 101 UNRWA staff members and 11,078 Gazans over 35 days. By comparison, an average of 4884 registered deaths occurred per year in 2015–19 in Gaza.
Cumulative reported mortality rates (Oct 7–Nov 10, 2023)
Tumblr media
Data are calculated by separate death reports from the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH; red line) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA; blue line).
If MoH mortality figures were substantially inflated, the MoH mortality rates would be expected to be higher than the UNRWA mortality rates. Instead, the MoH mortality rates are lower than the rates reported for UNRWA staff (5.3 deaths per 1000 vs 7.8 deaths per 1000, as of Nov 10, 2023). Hypothetically, if MoH mortality data were inflated from, for example, an underlying value of 2–4 deaths per 1000, it would imply that UNRWA staff mortality risk is 2.0–3.9 times higher than that of the public. This scenario is unlikely as many UNRWA staff deaths occurred at home or in areas with high civilian populations, such as in schools or shelters.
Mortality reporting is difficult to conduct in ongoing conflicts. Initial news reports might be imprecise, and subsequent verified reports might undercount deaths that are not recorded by hospitals or morgues, such as persons buried under rubble. However, difficulties obtaining accurate mortality figures should not be interpreted as intentionally misreported data. Although valid mortality counts are important, the situation in Gaza is severe, with high levels of civilian harm and extremely restricted access to aid. Efforts to dispute mortality reporting should not distract from the humanitarian imperative to save civilian lives by ensuring appropriate medical supplies, food, water, and fuel are provided immediately.
