I hate to say this, but I think he frequently dissociates, usually for very short periods of time, he doesn't even know it tbh, just thinks he is out of the element.

He is subconsciously under a lot of stress so his mind tries to flee from it by dissociating.

I think he likes potted plants, especially succulents. He is patient so I can see him take care of even the very difficult ones.

If he is going on a mission, he would go to his mother (because he cannot trust his siblings and father in this matter) like 'take care of my child.'

Illumi genuinely doesn't know how to care for his hair, he just follows whatever his mom tells him to do, so thank Kikuyo for those luscious tresses.

Idea for a Story: his entire life is a story we have yet to see in full detail, so my idea is GIVE HIM A BOOK, PLEASE. but also id really like to see some fragment of him, be it some part of him connected to the luxon, or a simulacrum, try to find a different path than him.

Unpopular Opinion: that even if he became evil through continuing the cycle, i think his anger is the most justified thing in the universe, and that he is far more complex than any stereotype about wizards that folk try to apply to him.

Favorite Relationship: him with liliana, jester, imogen, & fearne

Favorite Headcanon: that he keeps his hair long primarily to cover his Neck Problem, and even if he has found familiarity in that hes not fond of why he's had to keep it long. every compliment about his "silvery locks" known throughout exandria feels like twisting an ironic knife into him. additionally, his hair used to be raven black. after seeing the matron choose purvan, vax, & other dark haired champions.... he's happy it's turned white as the snow in eiselcross.

very very surprised to have ended up writing for / enjoying writing for jason so much!! like, in hindsight it makes sense, as he’s the character i read for the most, but. yeah! did not expect that <3

i started posting fanfic at 12 & writing at 10, so. everything. but xD i think my ability to tell a coherent narrative has improved by leaps & bounds, even when i don’t have an idea of where i’m going when i start something. i also think i’ve gotten a better handle on description, which was an issue for me when i started, lol.

and then uh, i would not have fallen headfirst into jaytim / be a jaytim writer at all without “The Many Deaths of Jason Todd” by zoeleo! that catapulted me into loving jaytim <3 before that jaydick was my main ship (i still adore it~)

23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?

hmm 🤔 i’m not really sure any of my life experiences are particularly obscure. ah, but! when i was younger i came across this little graphic—the only 12 1/2 writing rules you’ll ever need. (i actually used it as my desktop background for ages lol). anyway, number 10— Go for walks. Dance. Pull weeds. Do the dishes. Write about it. that one really stuck with me for some reason, & led to me paying more attention to my body/feelings, especially if i was bored or uncomfortable, bc it was something i could potentially use for writing!

that sort of mental check in also has done wonders for like. keeping an eye on my mental / physical health too lol.

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

This one is fun because I instantly forgot every media I've ever consumed.

So, uh.

Luke Castellan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Baby's first morally grey character. I just find him so fascinating as a foil to Percy and as a villain in and off himself. Unfortunately he is struck by the curse of being part of a middle grade franchise and so people often engage with his character in a very black-and-white way, and I hate how people use a single, ambiguous line in his literal last scene to moralize about him. ANYWAY. He did in fact do all that shit but he was Literally Right. So.

Adam Parrish, The Raven Cycle – he's truly the perfect character. He's a liar. He's traumatized. He refuses to accept help and be perceived and so tries to do everything himself, always resulting in making things 100% worse. Most of his problems could be solved by open communication and polyamory, and he refuses to do either. He's a real magician that does fake card readings for money. He does absolutely everything wrong and still manages to get everything he wants. He got rid of one of the villains by framing him for murder. He fully killed a guy. He's even bisexual. What's not to love?

Mallory Glass aka Sister Carpenter, The Silt Verses – Maybe my favorite podcast protagonist of all time. Attack dog of the faith. She's jaded and cynical and still gets emotionally attached to almost everyone she meets. The only thing she wants in life is a peaceful retirement from making horrible human sacrifices and two separate gods refuse to let her. We listen as she gets more and more tired of the world around her and the path the marginalization of her youth led her to take, and is still forced to keep going. Owner of the iconic line "Tell me more about your god, I wanna know whose house I wrecked", a batshit moment in a batshit episode that's been in my main blog bio for two years. I'm not ready to say goodbye to her this Thursday :(

i am writing a sequel for "the stars are ravenous" (ffxiv, explicit), which i hopefully will finish this year. (i also have some things started that may never see the light of day, including sequels to "to begin like this" (trigun, explicit) and a full series around "expelled from rapture's road" (ffxiv, explicit).)

i do save my cuts—but only when it's a whole scene or a significant number of sentences. this is more than a sentence, but here's a section from "my first kiss was in a cemetery, my first drink was in a church." it was a very different story at that time.

There are rituals that tell you exactly how to ask God for forgiveness. You say a prayer, show a little contrition, and then you’re done. Nothing that easy ever works, but there’s a comfort to the steps anyway. Real life is harder; you never have to look God in the eye when you lie and promise to be better tomorrow.

I’m the legit worst at tolerating outside fandom posts, even from my mutuals. There’s just a switch in my brain that immediately goes “I don’t care and I’m tired of seeing it.” Next thing I know all the tags to that fandom are blacklisted.

The closest I’ve come to having a secondhand fandom is with The Raven Cycle series, and I’ve read those books! It’s not just cultural osmosis by mutual. But I don’t have it in me to be in the fandom myself, so secondhand it is.

A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

That's one of those questions where the answer depends on the day, doesn't it? Although I definitely have some that are more favorite than others. I think today I would say Careful the Tale You Tell. I really enjoyed getting to build out the magic and the atmosphere of that, I pulled in a bunch of my old favorite fantasy stories and fairy tales to create one world, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I LOVED writing Opal in this one, SO MUCH, and I think that Adam and Ronan's arc turned out really well. I'm happy with all the big emotional moments and I'm still proud of how the storm scene turned out - I wanted it to be suspenseful, and eerie, and kinda creepy, and angsty, and at the heart of it to be about how much this little family loves each other and how hard they'll go to protect each other, and I think that all came through.

Plus, I managed to be extremely mean to Declan even though he isn't in very much of the story. I love getting to do that.

Z: Is there a story you’ve written that doesn’t seem to get much love?

Oh, for sure. I used to bounce around between a lot of small or old fandoms, mostly writing gen fic, often writing short ficlets or drabbles; I've had a lot of fics that didn't get the kind of attention I got once I started consistently writing a popular ship in one fandom. Even within my Raven Cycle fics, the stuff that isn't Pynch gets less attention. It is what it is! And it's the flip side of those times that I've dashed something off on a whim and then gotten a lot of love for it. Idk I think I was lucky to have the first experience as my formative fandom experience so I could just be pleasantly surprised by the latter experience.
