Mace Windu said if I do nothing I’d be betraying the democracy I thought I was fighting for this whole time, which means more than the crimes I’ll be charged with when this is over.

And yet people try to praise Anakin or Dooku for “leaving a corrupt system”. As if that was why Anakin left. As if Dooku did anything but make it worse. People praise the Mandalorians for only following their own rules. As if we’ve ever seen the Mandalorians truly stand for anything.

As if we don’t already have the most metal anti-authoritarian, badass character for people to praise.

And yet these parts of the fandom hate him. I wonder why 🤔

how to build self worth: keep the promises you make to yourself. if you're not going to follow through, stop saying you'll do it. stop saying you're going to exercise daily if you aren't going to keep your word. either say, 'i'm going to do my best to exercise as much as i can, but i'm not at a place to be rigid about it yet' or hold yourself to it. if you do the latter but can't keep it up, there's no need to force it. just introduce compassion: 'i tried my best but it's not working for me right now and that's okay. moving forward i'll do what i can.'

you need to be able to trust yourself. when you constantly break promises to yourself you destroy your self worth. could you build a life with somebody you don't trust? somebody who never holds their word? who is full of big promises and nothing to show for it? ...yet this is what you do to yourself.

raise the standard, you deserve better. you need to keep your promises.

hm. as a woman who recently (ish.) left her twenties behind, I fear that American Psycho's late-twenties protagonist, who has money and a job from his father, plus a beauty routine that I thought wasn't invented until the 2010s; who ladles irony over every sentence, imagines floridly insulting every person who doesn't give him what he wants, but only flies off the handle in situations where the carefully calculated risk is low.....may be just a tad on the nose.

#I've never gone on a date with this guy because honestly he would never.#he's more likely to take unflattering pictures of me around the office and send them to his buddies with vicious captions.#but our paths have crossed. distantly. I have been in meetings with this guy.#I /have/ been there for the business card conversation! it was wild to see that dynamic play out on screen.#also. christian bale is just so. so good looking in this.#there's a scene where he gets in the shower and you realize that greek statues were likely of real men.#like. there was a 26yo in athens who stepped up to throw a discus and every sculptor in the ancient world #then reflected on that moment for hundreds of years.#that might be difficult to imagine but counterpoint: he looked like christian bale in this exact shot.#a proscenium for our dreams
