There's wholesome ships and there's toxic ships, but I'd like to coin 'sodium chloride ships', where the individuals involved are both horrible and dangerous people, but somehow being together renders them surprisingly well-adjusted (if a little salty).

okay, but, like, THAT'S how you do a villain story. in the FIRST scene, you watch him shoot a man in cold blood. the show tells you right away "this man is not a good man".

but then it gets you to sympathize - look at how much the world has stepped on him. look at how terrible the whole of gotham is. and even when he kills more people, does more terrible things, you still root for him. because it's fun to watch someone be terrible to terrible people. you root for sofia too, because if anyone deserves revenge its her, but you're rooting for both of them somehow.

and then the show tells you "when he was a boy he killed his brothers". but even still, you want to see what he'll do. the show is called the penguin, you want to see the penguin rise. when he lets his mother's finger almost get cut off, you pity him. he's a sad, broken thing. how could he be anything but bad? but he loves, so there must be something else there.

but then. but THEN

the show always told you: "this is the devil". but you thought, maybe the devil can make hell a little more bearable for some people. the devil is so often nuanced, sympathetic, complex. maybe he's like that.

you're wrong. there's nothing good within him and YOU rooted for him to succeed. you wanted to watch the destruction. and now you have to live with the consequences of thinking, even for a second, that he could be redeemed.

i very badly want a double life 2: electric boogaloo but crucially no one is allowed to be paired up with their soulmate from the first one (except ranchers) and also lizzie and gem and mumbo and skizz are there too. anyway here are some pairings i think would be funny or interesting or would please me personally:

mumbo + scar: complete the mumscarian circuit

mumbo + lizzie: statistically the worst players right after jimmy. lizzie died before him once and she can do it again (and take mumbo with her)

grian + jimmy: nightmare scenario for the both of them

pearl + gem: an unfair matchup as they would win no problem but i love them together and i think we deserve them together after the events of secret life

scar + tango: wildly unpredictable. scar takes damage constantly but (almost) always escapes by the skin of his teeth. tango on the other hand has blown himself up before

pair them up best + worst in order (pearl + jimmy, gem + mumbo, scott + lizzie etc) and see if they manage to balance each other out. this takes out some of the randomness but there are still some fun duos i think would come out of it (etho + bdubs, skizz + martyn, impulse + bigb) and i also think pearl could keep jimmy alive long enough to not die first

and for lore reasons:

grian + bigb: lets see how the secret soulmates can handle being real soulmates

scott + jimmy: ok i know the last time they were together jimmy doomed them both with his curse but this time it’ll be different scott’s lucky now

cleo + etho: the progression of divorced with kids > roomies > soulmates tickles me

ren + martyn: i miss renchanting

+ bonus because i have been thinking about who i would want joining the life series a lot. this is who i want to join

doc + anyone really but mostly grian: okay seriously i imagined doc in the life series once and now ive been consumed by the desire to see it. especially with his health linked to grian. think about it. would be fun with ren also for entirely opposite reasons

a quick reference of this character, I have already presented it before. But I bring info that nobody asked for because I came back to think about my ocs after a few weeks of drought.

There is no loss in her character, she is very square, organized and not very expressive, when it comes to work she has no sense of humor.

I always draw her with Altair because they know each other, they have worked together a few times, probably their relationship will become closer with time. I like to imagine that she insults him unintentionally, she tells him what she thinks about what he does or the decisions he will make tactlessly and he just laughs at that, her honesty is very funny to him and she doesn't understand what he is laughing at, if she is not joking.

oh well, I must do more sketches but first I'll do the Reah reference I've already taken too long

I love the idea that Saruman looked up to Sauron during the Almaren days so much. It always makes me think of Curumo as an annoying younger brother. Like,

Curumo: Hey bro come check this out!

Mairon: Not right now, I’m busy.

Curumo: No you have to come see it now

Mairon: I said no.

Curumo: Come on, please?

Mairon: No.

Curumo: come on come on come on come on come on come on come on com—

Mairon: No!! Leave me alone!

My favourite hsycest to think about is during the pre-scenarios era.

I headcanon, at least a couple of times, not often, 1863 forcibly took control of young HSY to prevent herself from making mistakes - this is the time traveler's prerogative, after all. She watched her younger self live her life every day for 13 years. Like anyone seeing their past, she probably cringed at some events and wished they didn't happen, while some memories were traumatic - of course she would try to prevent them when given the opportunity. She is a regressor, after all.

And this goes into my young Han Sooyoung headcanons.... we know her father was a politican and mother an actress and that they didn't raise her, left her alone in a huge apartment with houskeepers. Basic neglected rich girl backstory.

I think Han Sooyoung age 16-17 entered her rebellious phase and started acting out, subconsiously seeking her parents attention. Drinking and partying and perhaps experimenting with drugs and the like - rich kids don't get in trouble for that. Just a total edgelord.

I can imagine 1863 possessing her in the moment where HSY's consciousness is blurred by alcohol and keeping her safe at some party she shouldn't be at. She's cold and mean to HSY's "friends" and tells everyone to fuck off. And if Han Sooyoung has blank spots in her memory later, she'd think nothing of it as that's a normal blackout experience.

Then, by 20-21 she's calmed down a little, in uni and writing. This is where her dating troubles become apparent (read Ch.487). I think some of it was 1863's fault lol

1863 thinks of young HSY as naive and childish and a bit of an idiot - plus, she has seen the future and already knows how all these relationships will end. What's the point wasting time on these men? She knows none of these jerks are worthy of her, so even if one DID stick around for a bit... well, it's not hard to 'scare them off', which only proves her point. She knows what is best for them both.

That's how 1863 justifies her protectiveness and possesiveness. If there are other reasons she doesn't like the idea of young HSY dating well... she won't acknowledge those.

Young HSY doesn't get why all her boyfriends run away calling her a 'crazy psycho bitch' but just sighs and resigns herself to staying single.

This is what I meant with that "all her relationships fail because her true soulmate is the time travelling older self possessing her" post🤭

ah yes I love that one Pokémon ship of a blue girl with a big heart and strong emotions/empathy who sometimes doubts who she is as a trainer but knows she wants to improve and grow at her Pokémon’s side and her group’s purple rival/enemy who commits morally dubious actions but is also slightly sympathetic and polite to her and will eventually try to better himself as a person and trainer
