About the Dragon Prince Finale
I just finished s7 of the Dragon Prince and i have so many thoughts but there is one thing specifically I want to say about the finale that I feel was just such a perfect way to end the battle, before I hop on and check out what everyone thought-
SPOILERS AHEAD
I’ll be honest, I was so stressed out at the end of ep8 and watching the final battle in ep9 was epic but-
My very first thoughts watching that were initially along the lines of- so… none of our main characters had the final say/final move? What the fuck?
But then I watched the rest of the episode and sat on it for a bit and… it makes perfect sense and wraps up the themes of the show in a beautiful way
The whole theme of the show and one of the most important ongoing things is that of breaking cycles of violence and choosing love, choosing kindness.
During that final battle, all our main characters were ready and willing to give it all to save the world, which is technically speaking the ‘right thing’ to do, the thing we’ve all been waiting for
however; this involved for all three of them, giving up an essential part of themselves. An essential part of ‘breaking the cycles’
Callum would’ve given up on ‘breaking the cycle’ in using dark magic and in sacrificing himself for the greater good. Yeah sure, he’s writing his own destiny, but is he really when it was his only real choice if he wanted to save those he loved?
Rayla would’ve given up on ‘breaking the cycle’ in following in the footsteps of past moonshadow assassins, choosing duty over love in being willing to kill her heart ‘my heart for Xadia’ when she just said episodes before ‘no one should have to shed blood for justice’
And my personal favorite, Ezran. The entire show, from the moment he became king, that kid has given himself wholly to the path of love and kindness, trying to not fall into the mistakes of the past. And yet- he was willing to kill for his brother, to do something that goes against everything he represents, everything he stands for.
^ All of that, in the name of peace, to save the world.
No matter what, each of them would’ve lost an essential part of themselves in choosing to save the world…
But they didn’t have to.
Because the arch dragons- some of the very creatures that BEGAN these cycles of violence and mistakes and hatred… the creatures that had a role in CREATING the world our main characters are trying to make a better place- they are the ones that chose to step in, to sacrifice themselves to make sure these kids with bright hearts and so much love and determination to choose a path of kindness don’t have to sacrifice those parts of themselves.
Like Ezran says, it’s a great gift that the arch-dragons give them. The opportunity to stay true to themselves and still get to stop Aaravos… even if it’s temporary.
So yeah, the moment I watched it for a moment I was like- that was a little anticlimactic but it makes so much fucking sense and it is such a beautiful way to end the series when you stop to think about it.
and I’m choosing to believe that we will get the other 3 seasons NETFLIX GIVE US THE FUCKING SAGA (I haven’t actually checked if anything has been announced yet cause I’m scared) and that that’s when- after 7 years of growth, our main characters get to step in and find a different way to stop Aaravos for good THEIR WAY, without compromising who they are and what they stand for
So yeah, I just had to get that out of my chest cause it took me a minute of silence to realize why it’s so perfect for the show and the genius in this move and i really wanted to share that little brain worm
I LOVED season 7 and I can’t wait to rewatch the whole thing and I truly hope we get the rest of the saga!

Arc 3 Predictions Electric Boogaloo
Because there's certain stuff that makes a Lot more sense now even as we're left with more questions, so let's talk about it.
Aaravos and the Cosmic Order / Claudia
So Aaravos wanted to take down the elves and dragons. Now the archdragons are all gone circa S7, which means he can hit the ground running upon his return in seven years. This means that the next target can fully be the Cosmic Council outright, and more recontextualization about how creating Eternal Night would make them suffer (though I don't think he'll repeat plans).
I could see him giving instructions / ideas to Claudia through dreams or visions, and she's armed with her amulet in the meantime and will maybe track down a replacement staff since she doesn't have one anymore. (Or she'll want to steal it back from Callum since it was a product of both her 'fathers'.) Other antagonists such as Finnegrin (maybe) and Kim'Dael (more definitely) will likely be interwoven.
That said, I think there'll be plenty of conflict already for our protagonists to deal with even before any of our old foes show up again.
Aanya + the Fire Ruby Project / Ezran & Zym
With the arrows temporarily able to dispose of Aaravos (even if I mandate he let himself get chained down in 7x07 in order to manipulate Ezran) and his imminent return, Ez and Aanya have an incentive to keep going with Project Ruby Fire. However, we also know thanks to interviews that Aanya has an adoptive brother, and from Tales of Xadia that:
The city is more fortified of late, as there are rumours of internal treason. The farmers worry that young Queen Aanya isn’t old enough or wise enough to protect what’s been built over the centuries.
So what I'm thinking is that adoptive brother Grark may pull a Karim and work on the project behind his sister's back or stage a coup. This could also put Ezran at odds with Zym, as Project Ruby Fire was designed specifically to be good at defeating dragons and to be so destructive that the mere threat of them would be enough (but, of course like the Mage Wars, someone's gonna use it). Having deeper, more politically / personally driven conflicts between Ezran and Zym (he had conflict with one brother, and now another) is also possible now that Zym can speak, and I think they'll take full advantage of it.
Ez and Zym together have always represented Hope the most (3x06), as Ezran found the egg, they're the two young princes turned kings, and are spearheading things forward.
So what happens if/when they start to crack? This could also provide a contrast to Janai and Amaya, as their new nieces/nephews through Miyana and Karim could provide a conflict. Even though the kids themselves will be too young and Miyana convinced to walk a different path, that doesn't mean they won't be used or treated as symbols by somebody else to sow more conflict.
Evrkynd and Elarion
The choice to establish a new city to show the growing unity between elves and dragons makes sense, but it made me wonder why do it now and not as an end-of-arc 3 idea. Then I considered that perhaps it's to set up Everkynd as an Elarion parallel: a glistening, shining city, where after it fell the land was divided and more chaos ensued.
Only Evrkynd will emerge and stand the test of time, of course, with the connection between the two halves being maintained and strengthened. But still, a thought I'll probably have something more eloquent for later.
Callum, Corruption, and the Cube (+ Rayla)
Was thinking over 6x06's "the darkness and corruption will overwhelm you" in addition to the choice in S6 to establish that Callum's father died of a chronic illness / the consistent comparison to dark magic as a plague/infection/sickness (2x08, 5x01, 5x03, 5x04, 5x09, etc). The options I'd considered for how the corruption would manifest post usage usually fell into two camps: instantaneous and complete, or gradual and ongoing. I'd thought the second one would be interesting for a mid-season dark magic use, speculating it'd be like the shadowmonsters in taking a few days or longer for something to take.
I certainly didn't think it'd be a process over Years, but given the seven year timeskip...
I'm picturing something like Callum still taking mushroom salves or potions regularly from Muhko (hence that inclusion for Zubeia) to stave off corruption overwhelm, and giving him parallels to Damian. This would also potentially enhance the feeling of "living on borrowed time" he and everyone, but him and Rayla in particular, are bound to feel as they know they have Limited Time before Aaravos comes back.
I'm also curious as to how openly or how much Callum will be studying dark magic, even in comparison to before ("Well, I've read a lot about it"). He has Viren-Claudia's relic staff, and the corrupted sun stone within it, so there could be interesting ideas or experiments there. The fact that Callum has the Staff and the Cube and the white streak does not bode well for him.
An additional assumption is that Callum will go to Elarion offscreen (cause that is a Long skip) but be unable to find what he's unknowingly looking for (the primal magic book?). I also don't think at this point I have to go into much more detail about CHET given that we've been here with the theory for 4 years, and pieces of evidence at the time that felt like a stretch are now being incorporated, such as:
The Cube pointing to Elarion, which was incredibly important to ancient humanity and Aaravos
Elarion poem is associated with nature (flowers of elarion) and dark-light motif
Rayla is Callum's light in the darkness and his destructive path. She was prepared to destroy him (7x09) and will likely save him in the future.
The flowers of Elarion were involved in a story where they were seen as gifts / "fair exchanges of beloved for beloved". Then Rayla, by Aaravos' own word, was described as Callum's "beloved" (7x09).
The entire conversation with Dark!Callum and the cube in the woods in 7x06 but especially "If you love her, you'll be the you that can save her" and "I have always been a part of you."
Basically: it's not over till the cube is plot relevant and all the foreshadowing / lines of dialogue surrounding it have come full circle in some manner. In Arc 3 we trust.
Misc Predictions / Ideas
that didn't belong anywhere else!
Given that we know Aanya has her older brother and Prince Kasef has a younger sibling, I think it'd be interesting if they teamed up to try and stage mutual coups or something.
Since the archdragons are gone, I'm curious what project ruby fire would be used against. Maybe just other dragons? Or invoking stuff from the past mage wars.
More info on the relic staffs and self-eating I think for sure can be expected, as well as what happened to make Kpp'Ar completely change his mind.
I'm expecting S8 to be catch up and set up much the way that S1 and S4 were.
There are river pirates between Duren and Neolandia (Tales of Xadia) so I could see Finnegrin being woven back in there, although I'd love to go back to Scumport and see any changes Elmer has made.
Kim'Dael feels like a 2 season antagonist to me, in order to reintroduce her (maybe Aaravos inverting the Moon Nexus set her free) and then to draw on her history with the Moon Fam (Bloodmoon Huntress graphic novel).
A lot more lore on the Startouch elves / I'm fairly certain Shiruakh was a star devourer dragon
Aaravos making the Cosmic Council mortal, etc etc.

Something I can't put my finger on, and might be reading too much into, are (lack of) choices and the relationships between Rayla, Runaan, and Lain and Tiadrin.
A slight undercurrent of tension in Bloodmoon Huntress is Rayla feeling like Runaan doesn't really love or want her. While Ethari readily professes to love her and assures her Runaan does too, Rayla sometimes gets the impression Runaan's taken her in more as a favor to Lain and Tiadrin. He's defensive of them, and some of Rayla and Runaan's early clashes occur when Runaan puts down her resentment toward her parents and dismisses her feelings of abandonment. (Their relationship improves by the end of Bloodmoon Huntress though, and by Lunabloom Runaan’s become more patient, empathetic, and open with his affection, and we see how much they love each other).
While Rayla considers Runaan and Ethari to be her family, Tiadrin and Lain aren’t pushed aside in their roles as her parents. Bloodmoon Huntress and Rayla’s birthday profile show that Rayla was brought up to love and take pride in her parents, both because Moonshadow culture values duty and self-sacrifice, but also because Runaan and Ethari raised her that way.
Runaan, Ethari, Lain, and Tiadrin were very close; Rayla describes them as best friends, they spent major life events together, and Tridrin and Lain chose them to raise their daughter. Runaan is visibly shaken when he realizes what’s happened to them and his P.O.V. passage in the Book One novelization outright says he loves them.
But he Ghosted them. We don’t know what the exact circumstances were, what evidence was presented, or what Ethari and Runaan discussed behind closed doors, but they broke faith. This can be attributed to the Silvergrove’s pack mentality, but I also wonder if their decision had something to do with Rayla.
We know Moonshadow society subscribes to Sins of the Father, where children can be blamed for their parents' wrongdoing, because Ezran was targeted for assassination. We know they have an extreme form of shame/honor culture, and that Lain and Tiadrin’s (alleged) desertion of the Dragonguard brought so much shame on their people and their daughter that Rayla preferred to say they were dead. And we also know that Rayla’s Ghosting was biased by her parents’ reputation.
Rayla’s standing in the Silvergrove was damaged, maybe even more than she realized. Once the Silvergrove had turned on Lain and Tiadrin, Runaan and Ethari may have felt they had no choice but to disavow their closest friends if they wanted to protect their daughter, to publicly draw her closer to them and away from her parents and their dishonor. (Of course, the hard truth is that they might have stopped the Ghosting had they spoken up, but they didn't).
And maybe this is why Runaan brought Rayla to Katolis that night, why Ethari agreed despite his misgivings. Rayla may have been a prodigy, but she shouldn't have been sent into the field so soon, and for such an important mission. But by putting Rayla on a mission that directly avenges the wrongdoing her parents (allegedly) committed, Runaan may have believed this to be Rayla's best and only chance to restore her honor. Given how harsh Moonshadow society can be, from this warped perspective Runaan may have considered this the best thing he could do for his daughter.
But it wasn’t. And after everything came crashing down, Runaan failed his mission, his child, and his dearest friends.
In Bloodmoon Huntress Runaan sees no conflict between duty and love, viewing the former as an expression of the latter. Rayla thought her parents chose duty over her, and thinks Runaan chose them, and duty, over her too.
By The Dragon Prince, Runaan chose Rayla over her parents, then realized he had to choose between Rayla and duty. He couldn’t, failed both, and spent the next two years in a hell of his own making because of it.
I don't see Runaan “I do what I must so those I love don’t have to” coping well knowing Rayla paid for his life with Lain and Tiadrin's— if he even knows. He’d betrayed his dearest friends by Ghosting them. Now he’s taken their chance at life and reuniting with their daughter, and he’ll never get to make amends.
#Brought to you by:#my s7 speculation that Callum will tell Runaan that Lain and Tiadrin weren’t saved because Runaan was in a fit of extremely justified anger#Accidentally triggering a full-on meltdown.#And Rayla’s attempts to comfort him only make it worse.#Because why should she love him over them?#Why has his family sacrificed for him?#He’s supposed to make sacrifices for his loved ones not the other way around.#runaan#rayla#lain#tiadrin#moonfam#bloodmoon huntress#lunabloom#the dragon prince#tdp#the dragon prince spoilers#tdp spoilers#the dragon prince season 6 spoilers#tdp season 6 spoilers#the dragon prince s6 spoilers#tdp s6 spoilers#To be clear this is more about their society and circumstances forcing them to make choices rather than who loves whom more

As probably every other fan of the Dragon Prince I too watched the new season the moment it came out. I loved it. It was sad, funny, sometiems scary, gave us few answers and probably created new ones.
Spoilers ahead
I liked Callum and Rayla story. I loved the wedding of Amaya and Janai. I love how Terry takes care of Claudia and how he is not swayed by Aaravos’ pretty words. I’m glad Zubeia is getting better and I’m sad Katolis was burned down. Ezran once again loses almost everything. But he still has his family and Aanya (who may have a thing for him? I’m not sure.)
Sol Regen got what he deserved. (I should’ve known he and Luna were partners, Sun and Moon?)
My only question is why Aaravos is so fucking big? But that’s not exactly what I want to write about.
When I started watching TDP the first time I never expected I would cry for a certain guy named Viren. Probably nobody did.
But in the end I cried.
His story was for me the best in this season. Once again he admitted he made mistakes, that he was a bad man, a bad father. He didn’t expect to be forgiven and accepted his punishment. He refused following Claudia and tried to get her to listen and stop following Aaravos. He changed and although we seen it in the previous season, it’s even more obvious here. He was so scared. Tormented by his choices, by that one elf who is a menace, by the fact his son didn’t want to talk or listen to his apologies. He knew he didn’t deserve any forgiveness and even if he wasn’t fine with that, who would be, he accepted it. And when it came to an end, he did what he was meant to do from the beginning. He once again was that person who is supposed to help people. He sacrificed himelf, last time used dark magic, to save his kingdom. He made mistakes and in the end chose to one last time be the servant of the people.
There is also story of Aaravos and Leola. Was it true? I hope it was. It was certainly beautiful. Startouched elves suck. Poor girl. This was so unfair.
But I wonder, they said the startouched elves can’t be killed and yet she is said to be dead. Why then, when the “higher ups” seen what Aaravos became afterwards only let him be imprisoned instead of killing him? Or did he get rid of them beforehand?
It’s also amazing how the last episode resolves around three daughters. One that was lost. One that lost herself. And one, that finds those who are lost.

Day Four of The Ultimate Dragon Prince Rewatch 🙌🙌
Season four season four!
Okay today I might actually be more head empty but here goes
Opening right where season three left off was genius, we finally get new content adding on to the last thing we saw.
Callum tracing a finger over the mirror…the Viren parallels…love to see parallels hate that Callum is having a parallel and therefore a character is fate moment…
I love how Rayla and Ezran’s relationship stayed exactly the same when she came back. Because he forgave her on sight. She didn’t quite break him like she broke Callum, but Ezran has always been more easy to forgive (so his season six moment when he tells Viren he doesn’t deserve mercy hits hard)
Point 1: I love the wedding proposal. Point 2: I love how Amaya not understanding what was going on and attacking the dancers foreshadowed the cultural differences and violent actions to come
TERRRYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Claudia and Terry truly are The ADHD couple. I love them.
Oh the difference between the breathing spell (runes) and the breathing spell (dark magic)…
Also Claudia has been associated with bats twice here, once with the puffer bats and another with the bats wings which I guess are supposed to show she’d evil but I just think she looks awesome, and I’m not sure if it means something but it’s definitely interesting
Viren is showing obvious PTSD. And I stopped sympathizing with Viren season three, but in this season…he’s not all powerful and slightly inhuman anymore. He’s painfully human, and very afraid. And so a little bit of sympathy does go out from me to him in this moment. (Also Terry is allowed to use the words “panic attack” and does everything right to comfort Viren, I love him 🥺)
I love Viren’s speech as he wonders how he wants to spend his last thirty days. I would have loved to see him do that. (I might need a spinoff miniseries actually.) But Claudia won’t allow it. And that’s why there’s more story.
The ruined painting, Ezran’s speech, Claudia and Ibis’s fight, Corvus’s Song of Love and Sorrow…chills every single time. And how they parallel each other too. Ezran’s “stop!” with Claudia and Ibis continuing to fight, and then the Song of Love and Sorrow playing when Ibis is about to kill Claudia but then Terry kills him…an act of love that leads to sorrow. I just…no more words. The storytelling design…it was just perfect, and hit exactly how it was meant to.
As much as I hate seeing Terry in pain I’m glad they showed us just how much killing messed him up. Because so far we haven’t really been shown a lot of regret/hauntedness when it comes to taking a life. I think this might be what Rayla would look like if she killed. But we already know she hates showing weakness, so she would not allow herself to put herself in a position where she might show weakness.
I love you Terry I love you “I’m not going to stop feeling things. In fact, I’m gonna feel ALL the feelings!”
As Zubeia is telling the story of what happened to Aaravos, you can see Tidebound Tina/Akiyu making Aaravos’s prison. A little detail I didn’t register the first time I watched because she didn’t become vital to the narrative til the next season
Also chills when she’s describing Aaravos’s targets and Rayla puts it together: “mages.” (ahhhhh Callummmmm why must your sweet and pure curiosity for magic the very thing that might be your downfallllll)
Aaravos possessing Callum…no, I definitely don’t like this part. Even though he made awful things come out of Callum’s mouth, not one of them were about to anger enough to lash out. Which to me is interesting because usually when Evil Guy is in Beloved One’s body someone is about to do something before someone else yells out “No you can’t hurt them!” So it’s just. It’s really interesting to me that Aaravos said all those things and none of them even lifted a finger. Like they knew fighting Aaravos possesing Callum would only hurt Callum. And I don’t know I think it shows how much trust they have in Callum that they don’t need to fight for him, if that makes any sense?
I love seeing Soren and Rayla caring for each other and how worried she is when he doesn’t come back. They’ve come along way since trying to kill each other, and season three’s “ugh, this guy again?”
“Yip yip?” My friend who is Avatar first TDP second was ranting about how only Jack de Sena is allowed to say “yip yip”
Anyways I like how Soren is befriending dragons instead of tying them down
*haven’t seen each other for two years* “why…why are you wearing pajamas?” *spend five minutes talking about pajamas* YESSS THAT’S EXACTLY HOW SIBLINGS REUNITE THEIR BOND IS NOT COMPLETELY BROKEN (yet 😔💔)
So Soren seeing Viren come back is double trauma for him, because he already has the mental image of him killing Viren seared into his mind, I don’t care if he learned quickly it was an illusion, that is Not something you can ever get out of your head; also he has spent the last two years with the small comfort knowing that his father could never gaslight or manipulate him again. And does Viren try to apologize for anything he’s done to Soren? No.
Head empty in the first zone of peril, I agree with N’than I actually would have stayed in there with all the pretty gems at the price of my life
Love the comedic voiceovers when the screen is completely dark
Two years later and Terry coming out to Viren makes me emotional. As a trans person myself, seeing someone in the story talk about their trans-ness really means a lot to me
Rayla saying “yeah…I like talking” when Callum wakes her up…no, we’ve seen how she doesn’t like reason or riddles or feelings. But she wants Callum to talk to her again. And suddenly she likes talking. Because it gives her hope that Callum can forgive her. Aaaand then he asks her to kill him. And then she honks his nose and suddenly they got their old dynamic back, even if just for a moment
I love Janai. She’s made some tough choices. But I love how she doesn’t let her brother sway her. Lucia was found guilty, but they don’t need to kill her. Karim challenged her to a blood duel, but she did not need to fight it kill hill. “I make history. History does not make me.” YESSSSSSS QUEEEEN 🙌
The brown sludge tarts being what won over Rex was also genius. He didn’t need things that mattered to them. Ezran saw that, and gave him something that could matter to him.
“I’m going to do something less cruel [than waking him up with stinky feet]. I’m going to stab him.” I mean…you’re not wrong
Amd then!!!! Soren faces trauma aGAIN when he thinks he fails Ezran because it looks like Ezran died in the dragon’s cave, and he already failed in preventing Harrow from dying, and so to him it looks like he’s doing the same thing again!! True Ezran doesn’t actually die but Soren’s panic and haunting past were real!!!
My gosh I love it when Terry tells Claudia what he thinks about what she did to Rayla. He lays it all out: he trusts her and supports her even though he’s seen her do a lot of awful things, because he knew that she had a good reason. But her tricking Rayla was cruel. And so he walks away. And Claudia shrinks in on herself, obviously looking like she feels bad. And that’s why she returns the coins to Rayla. Because she doesn’t want that feeling again. (She’s at the tipping point of being too far gone…but she’s not there yet)
Callum’s face when reuniting with Rayla 🥹
Aaaaaand Viren did dark magic 😔
Head really empty now. Very good season.

Dragon Prince S6 Thoughts
"Sometimes the line between mercy and cruelty can be thin." Aaravos and Startouch Elves
Well holy shit, that opening really went from wholesome Viren (who is alive) hugging Terry and celebrating Aaravos’ supposed “lie” to OH GOD CLAUDIA KILLED A CHILD. God, it's really terrifying seeing Claudia give so much to save her father...it really hits home how Viren felt responsible for leading her down this route. The tragic thing is that I think Viren knows deep inside that as of now, he can't help her...but he hopes he can inspire her to turn back. Despite everything she did, Claudia's actions to save her father were all for nothing. She lost a leg and her soul (it is yet to be seen if her soul can be brought back) and yet by the time she reached home, her father died yet again...this time for good. Claudia's screams were really chilling and sad.
At least, Terry is always there for Claudia...though I'm worried about what will happen to him given Claudia's increasing mental dive into darkness and insanity. He rightfully points out how revenge is different from love and how it drove Aaravos to the deaths of God who knows.
I really love that Viren didn't choose to reveal what he did to heal Soren. It would've just caused Soren more grief and pain. That's one of the most best things Viren could have done before his sacrifice. He carries on the absolute shame (I felt chills when I heard how he obtained the last part of the spell) that he caused rather than “pass it on” so to say to Soren.
Viren’s true death feels fitting for him. All this time everyone close to him ask if he was willing to risk his life for another. Dark Magic has ruined so many lives and yet also saved so man in some cases. There is a price to be paid. But finally, he proved that he was willing to do that rather than find some other way to pay the price or back out. This time he paid the price and did a truly selfless action where nobody had to get hurt...other than him. He lived his whole life choosing what he felt was pragmatic and selfish with only a few moments of his good self showing...he chose to finally die a servant of his home. While Soren will understandably never forgive him for what he did to him and the world, he will remember him for his last act of unselfish genuine goodness and living up to his desires of atonement rather than going back. I also love how his last words are the last words spoken by Harrow to him.
"I am a servant. I am a...servant." Viren's last words
That entire ship episode is so hilarious with the meta-commentary. The Celestial Elves were a really cool sub-ect of Skywing Elves. I also love the parallels between dealing with Ice Behmeath in the present and the Magma Titan in the past. Instead of killing the beast which left people killed, they found what made it so sad and everyone lives.
Also Callum and Rayla are back together! So happy and I wished we didn't have the break-up personally but still finally.
I now understand the Soren and Corvus ship, and I approve.
I'm so happy that Amaya and Janai finally got married at last. Too bad Karim had to ruin all the vibes temporarily, thankfully, the two were able to salvage it. Amaya and Janai truly deserve the world.
The build-up to when Ezran and Corvus realizes the true plan of Karim is really chilling.
S6 really has me lowkey ship Ezran and Aanya haha. Two badass, wise, and compassionate young rulers who lost their parents...speaking off, I can't imagine seeing Ezran in S7 now that he knows his kingdom is destroyed.
Sol Regem really is responsible for the events of the show. While it is dark how he died and it's horrible how he was responsible for his soulmate's death, I can't say he didn't deserve his death at all. He was the one who laid the seeds for humanity's conflict with elves and utterly despises humanity. He literally choked and burned on his own element.
Katolis being destroyed made me sad since it was our primary setting in the human realm for 6 seasons.
The Startouch Elves gave me so many Collector vibes. Aaravos really is the Ardyn of Dragon Prince with a bit of Collector and I'm all here for it. Now all that is needed is for him to get a stylish hat and turn the sky into an eternal darkness. Also, Aaravos was really that big in his natural mortal form...which made S5's horrifying reveal of what he said make a lot of sense.
A major theme of S6 and the show is how revenge won't get you anywhere but further metaphorically drown yourself. Another major theme is love (platonically and romantically), whether familial, platonic, or romantic.
S6 really is an amazing return to form, and it felt like the quality of the first three seasons was consistent. I cannot wait for the final season of this saga. I did hear about them wanting to make three more books and I wonder how they can go from here...but I trust them to do right based on S6.

Day 1. "Under the Weather"
Fandom: The Dragon Prince
Word Count: 692
Summary: Ez is sick, Callum brings soup, chaos ensues.
~ * ~
Callum knocked on the door, and then proceeded to let himself in. Ezran lay on his side, clutching at his pillow. Zym lay curled next to him, pushing his snout into Ezrans face. Bait grumbled beside them, on his pillow.
Callum placed the bowl of stew on the small table, then turned to the bed and placed his hands on his hips. “Zym! What did we say about bothering his royal highness during nap-time!”
Zym yipped concernedly in response, but retreated his snout from poking the king.
Said king, on the other hand, grumbled in response, and reached an arm out,at a pillow. Only to lazily throw it behind him at his dearest older brother. Callum catches it easily, and exaggerates a look of betrayal. Sure, Ez has his back to him. But it doesn’t hurt to try and draw out a laugh.
“I can’t believe you would do something like this! And to your own brother! Attack me- Me! You’ve rallied your feathered fiends and attacked me. Death by feather! Why would you do this?! Whyyy, Oh Whyyyy-” He drops to the floor dramatically, holding the pillow tightly to his chest.
At that moment, the door opens again, and Rayla comes in, holding something behind her back. She stops after only a few steps though, and confusion twists itself into her features.
“...Do I want to know?”
Ezran sits up, his hair a complete mess, and faces Rayla, with as much of a smile as he can manage. “Callum called me “royal highness” again, so I unleashed my ‘feathery fiends’ and now he's dead on my bedroom floor. Can you help me clean up the evidence?”
Rayla blinks once, before she bursts out laughing. Callum laughs heartily from the floor. He picks himself up and sits on the bed, next to Zym’s curled up figure. Rayla walks around and sits on the other side of the bed. Petting Bait on the back as she sits down.
Ezran leans back and sighs. “How much longer until I can get back to my duties?” A muffled laugh sounds from outside the doors. “See! Oh, c’mon Corvus, it’s a little funny. Doodie! No- wait- Come back! Corvus-”
Rayla meets his eyes, “Does that answer your question?” Her mouth quirks up in a mischievous smile. Ezran lets out a tired sigh.
The fireplace is crackling, it's dark out, and soft snowflakes fall outside of the warm room.
Rayla’s smile softens, and she pulls her hand from behind her back. In it, she’s holding a plate, piled with jelly tarts. Ezrans eyes light up. He reaches for a jelly tart and bites into it hastily. He gets a dreamy look in his eyes as he sighs with contentment. “Thanks Rayla! This is exactly what I needed!” He finishes the pastry, and is about to reach for another one, when he suddenly sneezes.
Zym jumps at the sound, and Stella ruffles in her sleep, from where she is situated in her own little makeshift bed.
“Okay!” Callum exclaims. Standing up and clapping his hands. “Back to bed with you…”
And an evil grin flashes across his face.
“...Your royal highness.” He bows deeply at the foot of the bed.
This time, he’s not fast enough. And when he straightens himself up, he’s met with a pillow, hitting him square in the face.
“I command you leave my quarters at once…Step-prince” Ezran retorts.
Rayla lets out an audible gasp. “You’ve really done it now, Callum”
Callum starts making his way to the door, but he faces the king as he confidently walks backwards. “As you command, Your royal sassness.”
Another pillow comes flying at him. Which he catches easily. “Where do you keep getting these from?!” But he doesn’t get an answer, instead he’s met with another pillow. This one being thrown by none other than Rayla herself.
Callum, unfortunately, does not catch that one, and instead trips and falls again. His fall is broken by the pillows. But the absurdity of the situation makes him laugh loudly. And Ezran joins in. And soon enough all three of them are laughing.
Laughter, overflowing with love and affection.
~ * ~ Thank you for Reading!!!

It's so cool that the Viren-Claudia-Callum foil triangle each have a different approach to the "I would do anything for you" sentiment that they all define themselves by.
Pre-coma Viren doesn't fully mean it even when he believes he does. He says that his loyalty is to the best interests of his family and humanity, but as K'ppar points out in his dream, he keeps putting his own ambition and self-importance before anything else. He doesn't consider sacrificing his life for Harrow until Harrow brings it up. Even after that, he never once thinks of giving up the dragon prince's egg; the belief that the prince was killed is part of the reason the assassins are here and returning him to them might appease them, might at least make them spare Harrow's son, which the man Viren loves as a brother would obviously want. He orders Soren to kill the princes to guarantee Viren the throne. He orders Claudia to save the egg instead of Soren if she had to choose. Harrow, Ezran, Callum and his own child are not worth losing the power of Zym to his enemies for. He isn't willing to sacrifice his power or vision, his selfish interests, but is instead willing to sacrifice the people he loves, which is why he's evil. The promise is conditional. But what lets him redeem himself is that the love at the base of it really is unconditional. He still loves Harrow and genuinely expresses this in his dream, overwhelmed with relief when he appears to be alive. He still loves his children, even after all the horrible things he does to them and the lack of remorse he shows for those actions until his death. The coma reminds him of that enduring love, and makes him reevaluate how he dismissed it.
Claudia is the opposite. When she says she'll do anything for someone, she means it with everything she has. Herself, her moral integrity, other people's lives, the fate of the world - nothing is more important to her than her perceived responsibility to her loved ones. Including what her loved ones themselves want. But she can also change her mind about who she loves, at least enough to see them as against her rather than with her. Callum is her friend, until he isn't. Soren is her family, until he isn't and only Viren is worth protecting. Like her father’s did before her, her value of Soren’s wellbeing has been slipping from “That’s all that matters” to “That doesn’t matter!” People can be disqualified by opposing her desires and ideology. The promise is unconditional, but the love isn't.
And then you have Callum, who seems to have the best approach of the three. He means his promise when he says it and will never rescind it later on. His devotion is both absolute and everlasting. He will do anything for Ezran and Rayla, putting them before his own interests; and he would never consider them expendable. That's great! After all, having conditions of worth in relationships they don't belong in is bad. It leads to Viren and Claudia hurting, manipulating and betraying their family and friends, and such behaviour feels viscerally wrong. They're traitors. They're abusers. Those are serious crimes. Those labels are grievous insults meaning ‘Bad Person’. But unlike both Viren and Claudia, Callum doesn't have the arrogant belief that he always know best to warp his love into something self-serving. His genuine selflessness prevents him from ever becoming that kind of person. He does cut ties with Claudia, but only after she proves to be untrustworthy and have enduring harmful intent toward him, his brother and Rayla, so it's a perfectly reasonable boundary to set. His version of "I would do anything for you" just makes him caring and heroic. Right?
Until you realize that technically, if he had to kill everyone else on the continent in order to save Ezran and Rayla, all evidence from canon suggests that he would.

As someone who really likes both A:TLA and The Dragon Prince, this take infuriates me so much because, I love both Aang and Ezran for different reasons:
“Watched season 6 of TDP recently and Ezran is a much better character than Aang.
Ezran is a kid too and he tends to be naive.
But where ATLA uses Aang's age as an excuse for his actions, TDP stresses that while Ezran is young, that's not a reason for him to never take responsibility. That's not a reason for him to cling to the past and never move forward. He needs to grow up and face chal-lenges.
I also feel like Ezran's vision of peace and Aang's vision of peace are very different.
Aang tries to push his own ideals on other people, and gets frustrated when they don't agree. But Ezran understands and acknowledges that people are in pain. He knows peace doesn't come easy which is why he uses his position to take the first steps.
And to be honest, Ezran just had more growth”.
People who say this stuff are morons with no media-literacy. And yes, they ship Zutara.
I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen The Dragon Prince. But I have heard it’s good, made by Aaron Ehasz and Sokka voices the main character. So I can’t really comment on Ezran, but as for Aang…
OP blatantly lies about Aang and just doesn’t understand or remember his character. For one the show NEVER uses his age as an excuse for his actions. His age is only really brought up in the context that he has so much pressure thrust upon him as the Avatar, something no 12 year old should be put through.
Aang is genuinely a kindhearted person, but whenever he does do something wrong, he’s either called out for it, apologizes or at the very least realizes his mistake. When he hides the letter from Hakoda, Sokka is pissed and Katara is disappointed, Aang doesn’t try to justify what he did, he knows it was wrong and accepts the consequences. When he burns Katara he swears off firebending, he feels remorse over giving into negativity and hatred when Appa was stolen and bottles up his emotions. In EIP he clearly realizes kissing Katara was stupid and the latter is rightfully annoyed.
The whole point of the show is Aang taking responsibility and actively seeking to save the world, which he does. He grows up and faces many challenges, in The Storm, he says
“I’m done dwelling on the past. I can't make guesses about what would have turned out if I hadn't run away. I'm here now and I'm going to make the most out of it”.
That’s precisely what Aang does during the series.
“Aang tries to push his own ideals on other people, and gets frustrated when they don't agree. But Ezran understands and acknowledges that people are in pain. He knows peace doesn't come easy which is why he uses his position to take the first steps.”
I am so sick of this notion that Aang tries to push his ideas on people. I know what episode they’re referring to, and Aang never tried to force his ideals on Katara. He actively acknowledges that Katara is in pain.
“Wait! Stop! I do understand. You're feeling unbelievable pain and rage. How do think I felt about the sandbenders when they stole Appa? How do you think I felt about the Fire Nation when I found out what happened to my people?”
He knows that peace doesn’t come easy, he urges Katara to face the killer, she doesn’t forgive him like Aang expected her to, but Aang takes no issue with this, he’s just proud she didn’t give into her hatred and chose to forgive Zuko, who need I mention, Aang had taken the first step by offering him friendship and saving his life.
The thing is, I and many other don’t take issue with criticism regarding Aang, for example I wish he was shown apologizing to Katara in EIP and I wish his conflict about killing Ozai was set up earlier. All Anti-Aang criticisms essentially have no merit to them, this one in particular actively fails to understand character and makes up elements that were never at play, the stuff they say Aang didn’t do, he actually did, you’d have to be blind not to notice.

On a whim of inspiriation I wrote a dragon prince post season 6 fanfiction with established Sorvus and emotional hurt/comfort. (Corvus arriving in Katolis and running to Soren right away)
This was literally written out of nowhere but enjoy~
When Corvus and Ezran finally arrived at Katolis castle town they could only look up at ruins, smoke still rising from some of the towers in to the darkening sky of late afternoon. When his king started crying in his arms Corvus could only think of how Ezran was just a child after all. How this wasn't fair.
Live wasn't really fair though, was it?
A soldier ran up to them from the woods opposite of where he and Ezran had come from, when Corvus was already preparing himself to go through the rubble. Looking for... anything he supposed, blonde hair and blue eyes probably. The soldier brought them to a clearing in the woods right away. The first thing they could see there was barius handing out food with the help of a female soldier. The next second Opeli was running up to them.
Six people died, Opeli told them. Five who got hit by or trapped under the rubbel and couldn't be found in time.
The sixth was Viren. Saving them from the dragon fire with his magic apparently.
It took Corvus a while to find Soren in the camp that Opeli managed to organize. After making sure Ezran has calmed down more or less, leaving the young king with Opeli and Barius to get an overview of the situation. She could only tell him that he was probably running around somewhere trying to "stay busy". And the glance she gave him was enough to tell Corvus that Soren was probably doing that without a proper break now for a while.
Saying "camp" was also very optimistic if he was being honest. Even if Opeli had obviously done the best they could with the situation and all that people. The tents where mostly bigger blankets and tarps secured between trees and carts. The few proper tents they organized in the short time were all used for the sick, injured and infants.
To his relieve he couldn't find Soren there. Though when he did find him, at the camps western border helping other soldiers with hitting stacks into the ground and tying rope between them, Corvus decided that maybe Soren should have been in one of the tents. Or at least he should clearly be resting somewhere, and if it was laying on the darn grass with Hat on his head. Even from afar he noticed the tiredness combined with a tension in Sorens body. The kind of tension he would get after pushing himself for to long. When something was going on inside of him that he refused to talk about.
To even notice this tension was a skill that Corvus had perfected over the last two years. First as his enemie-turned-colleague, then as his friend and than as his partner. Though actually getting him to open up when he was like this, to figure out what was bothering him, was a skill Corvus still hadn't really worked out. So most of the time he just focused on distracting Soren to make him feel better.
Luckily Corvus didn't had to do a guessing game on what exactly Sorens issue was or how he could best help him relax. Opelli told them that it was Soren who had run to the dungeon where Viren had been imprisoned. But only the rats from the dungeon could possibly tell them what happened between them this time.
Viren, he didn't really like calling him 'Sorens father' no matter the situation, was the cause for this kind of tension in Soren most of the time in the end. In some way, shape or form Viren was always at the back of Sorens mind.
"Soren!", Corvus called while walking up to him. It was hard not to run, but making a scene wasn't exactly in his interest here. Their relationship was still mostly private after all.
Soren turned around, dropping the hammer in his hand, and Corvus almost stopped in his track. The tiredness was even more apparent on his face. His usual smile was nowhere to be seen and his eyes had heavy bags under them. Most worrying to Corvus however was the stained bandage on his forehead.
"Corvus?", Soren said. Even his voice seemed of, to Corvus trained ears at least. But a spark returned in his blue eyes as he was looking to Corvus. "You're here! Where is Ezran? We heard rumors about an attack at the wedding, but well... Y'know we kinda... had to focus on setting up the camp here and-"
Soren went quite when Corvus hugged him, clinging his arms around him and listening to Sorens heartbeat under his armor. Making a scene or not be damned this time, there were only a handful of soldiers that could see them here anyway.
The beating of Sorens heart was probably the most beautiful sound to Corvus ears at this point.
However the tension did not wash out of Sorens body as he had hoped. Instead his breathing turned sharp, rigged, enough for Corvus to notice but everyone else could probably only see how Soren returned his hug. One of his arms around his back, the other hand gripping his shoulder hard enough for it to slightly hurt.
Corvus ignored it. The blonde man needed the comfort, now more than ever. He could handle a little shoulder pain.
"We just arrived. I will catch you up on our side later.", Corvus said after a while, his head in Sorens neck. "But you really look like you need a good nap, and maybe someone to check that wound on your head."
Soren loosened the grip on his shoulder, and only then did Corvus loosen his own grip around him. Though Sorens left hand at his back still grabbed his shirt slightly, and Corvus decided to keep a hand on Sorens forearm. Meanwhile the blue head of Hat popped out of Sorens armor with a squirm. Seemingly not liking to be squished between two grown men in armor.
The blonde knight used his other hand to touch the stained bandage. To Corvus relieve his fingers came back down dry, so the blood wasn't fresh at least.
"What happened?", Corvus asked.
"Stone flew right to my head.", Soren answered. Not what he had asked, but they both knew that. Maybe he would have a bit more luck when they were actually alone, and they both had sleept for a bit. "Is Ezran okay at least?"
"He didn't get hurt." Corvus however could still feel the bruises from Karims people throwing him on the ground and holding him down. Though this would probably just rile up Soren even more in the moment. "As I said, I will tell you everything later. King Ezran wants to talk to you later too."
He raised his own free hand to trace his fingers around the bandage on Sorens forehead. Light, making sure he didn't put any pressure on the wound to accidentally hurt him.
Just distracting or comforting Soren wouldn't be enough this time. They would actually have to talk about the isdue this time. About Viren. What happened. What he did to the world, and most importantly what he did to Soren. Possibly about Claudia. The one topic didn't really came without the other one.
Ignoring the fact that they were still in the open, soldiers working around them and some of them probably looking at them for gossip, Corvus pulled his hands from Sorens face and grabbed his free hand instead to put a kiss on his fingers.
Sorens hands were ever so cold, to a worrying degree if you were to ask anyone else probably, but well, normal for Soren. Whatever the reason was for his freezing skin (Soren gave dubious answers and became restless whenever Corvus had tried to ask) at this point it was something familiar to Corvus.
"Come on, I'm sure they can finish the stakes on their own.", Corvus said. "We both need a few hours of sleep before we have to meet up with the council."
Soren let out a sigh, but still removed the hand still clinging to Corvus back, sliding it in his hand for just a moment before dropping both his hands at his side.
"Ok.", Soren whispered and walked ahead to to where the improvised campsite. Corvus walked along close enough so that their hands could touch, if Soren wanted to.
Luckily it wasn't hard to find a more private spot for two memebers of the crown guard. Close to the trees, under a lower hanging tarp and a cart blocking sight from where most people were trying to eat or already sleeping.
Getting Soren to lie down wasn't hard at this point. He quietly followed him to the ground, and even let Corvus remove the plates on his arms and shoulders without much protest.
Though his mind was clearly still racing. They were facing each other on the thin blanket they were laying on, close again but not touching. It was one of these moments where Corvus couldn't tell if Soren needed to be held or if he should avoid it instead, because it would make him flinch or even run off.
Luckily, he didn't had to guess.
"Can you...hold me?"
He hated how insecure Soren became sometimes about this. Wanting comfort from someone. Needing it. How his voice turned so quite. How all of his optimistic energy and joy seemed to just completely dissappear.
He really hated Viren for this. Wanted to make him pay. Though it clearly wasn't possible now anymore, hopefully for real this time. But it wasn't his place to do so anyways.
He could only help Soren cope with whatever emotions were racing through his mind. And he was glad to do so.
Corvus pulled Soren close, one hand at his back, the other one in his blonde hair. Once again Soren returned the embrace, but this time while hiding his face in Corvus chest.
"You don't have to ask."
There were tears wetting his scarf.
He didn't mention it.

The dragon prince season 5 episode 8 spoilers
But look at Callum’s face right here
I don’t think we’ve ever seen him this terrified. In all the five seasons of the dragon prince, we have never once seen him with this expression, not even when king Harrow died, not even when ezran fell into the ice water, never.(excluding when rayla jumped off the pinnacle for the purpose of this post, hope you don’t mind)And here, you can see so so clearly just how afraid he is, how much he fears losing Rayla, because in his mind, he just got her back after losing her two years ago, and right now he might just lose her again, and he is terrified of that. He doesn’t want to lose her ever again, because that’s just how much he loves her.
and his expression here
He is so fucking angry.
Because that guy that he’s looking at is hurting the person he loves most, and fuck everything, Callum is not letting him walk away from it unharmed, without giving him the slightest taste of what he deserves, because he is not losing Rayla, not again, after everything they’ve been through.
And Callum, who is usually such a peaceful and gentle person, who would never resort to violence unless necessary, and who we’ve only seen punch something once, and even then it was a mindless corrupted animal, punches Finnegrin square in the face, even with an entire gigantic hunk of wood holding him back, because fuck you, finnegrin, you hurt Rayla, and you don’t deserve any mercy.
We have never, from season 1 to season 5, seen any of the characters in this show so angry, so furious, and yet here we are, seeing one of the most gentle and kind characters wear that expression.
In other words, the expressions in this show are absolutely amazing and phenomenal, and it’s captured so well.

It took me a little while, but I finally had time to review seasons 2-3 of The Dragon Prince on IMDB (under chaoticgoodthiefling) so I'm here to say that I would love to see your take on on Rayllum breaking both their promises in S7 in fic form! (or one of them keeping their promise, the other breaking it, whatever you wanna do) - if you're still doing the review fic-athon, that is. If not, nw!
I would be more than happy to do a fic-athon for each season if you'd like, so for whichever one I didn't do (aka Callum's) I might keep it for Snake Boi Callum Week on the 17th and shore it up then <3 learn more about review fic-athon here
Somehow, they manage to make it back to camp.
Soren helps her walk, and Ezran bandages the cut on her cheek, her eyes as red as the blood on his too-tiny fingers. She explains what happened in a hoarse whisper as near as she knows it—her silk-wings vanishing while in pursuit of Claudia, sending her tumbling, her head smashing open on the rock, Callum crying as the shadows began to cloak them, asking her to stay, asking her to forgive him—Rayla blinking blearily as Soren and Ezran had crashed through the bramble just in time to see Callum, eyes all black and mouth unsmiling, place the cube in Aaravos' outstretched palm, because she was too weak to stop him, only bruises and blood to show for her troubles, her blades unable to follow through.
You promised, Callum had rasped before he'd said the spell.
But even then, that hadn't been his last words. One last kiss to her forehead. I love you. I'm sorry.
And they won't be his last words, Rayla thinks stubbornly as they regroup at the Silvergrove. The tea Ethari prepared for her is going cold, him and Ez and Soren discussing things—Callum—in the other room. Giving her time to recuperate. Like she needs it. What she needs is her—
"Rayla."
Runaan sits down in the chair across from her, his lips pursed, eyes guarded.
She sighs and gives up on ever drinking the tea, nudging the ceramic mug towards her father instead. Runaan gives it a dubious sniff and then takes a sip.
"What?" she asks tiredly when he makes a face and sets it down; he's always liked weaker rather than stronger tea.
"Your... human. Is what the others say true? He's—not himself?"
She snorts even as her eyes sting, Runaan's uncharacteristic gentleness crushing her heart into even more pieces. Oh, you have a nicer word for it, for being possessed? Corrupted. Soren and Ezran hadn't even known Callum had cured himself—that he'd chosen to throw it all away, and for what? For her? "For now," she says. "We're..."
She curls in on herself.
If Aaravos ever controls me again, if he uses me, promise me you'll kill me.
I promise.
Her fist in Runaan's face, closer than they sat together now, reminding him that You taught me to never break my promises!
"I'm scared, Runaan," she admits, the words feeling unholy—blasphemous—this deep in the heart of the Silvergrove, even with her trial behind her. "What if he—" she chokes back a sob. "What if he's gone?"
Runaan stares at the tea and then at her, cerulean blue eyes more than contemplative. Maybe sad? "Do you truly believe that? I thought I was gone, in the Moon Nexus. You convinced me otherwise."
"But you were just trapped with dark magic. He's..." Become it, all ashy and smoky, the stark white in his hair. The unseeing red in his eyes. Like the corrupted banthers that had almost eaten them on more than one occasion. She tugs on her hair. "At the Starscraper, they told us that if he ever did it again, he'd be corrupted—overwhelmed, completely. That there'd be nothing left. And now..."
She wipes stubbornly at her eyes. "He made me promise, Runaan. That I'd kill him if it ever happened. Now it has, and I..."
"Do you want to kill him?" Runaan asks plainly.
Rayla recoils. "What? Of course not. I love him."
"Then perhaps that is your answer."
Rayla stares at him this time. "It is not that simple. Aaravos—"
"Rayla."
Her father reaches across the table for her hand, his thumb stroking over the inside of the wrist, where he'd bound her long ago. Sometimes the joint still aches; if Callum hadn't hatched Zym, and Zym hadn't removed it when they did, the binding probably would've claimed her hand anyway.
Runaan gives her wrist a gentle squeeze. "When you were growing up, I fashioned you into my little blade. You were eager for it, and I was a suitable whetstone—I thought it was the best way to protect ourselves. To protect you. But you were not made to be an assassin, and I am sorry if I have ever made you feel like it is your greatest weakness instead of your greatest strength. At the time, I did not know better; I do now. That boy loves you, and you love him. Yes, you may kill him, and save the world—but will it be a world you want to live in, afterwards? What do you want when this is all over?"
"I..."
She knows, of course. Walks in the garden. Moonberry surprise by the square. His hand, warm and wrapped around her fingers. It's all she's ever wanted: a life with the boy in peacetimes that she could've had all along, if she'd just...
"I kept my promise to kill a king, and I have regretted it each day since," Runaan says. "If I had broken it, and listened to you, we would've been better for it. I would have, too. Trust yourself, and trust him. If your situations were reversed—when they were—what would he do? What do you want to do?" He levels her with an even, steady stare. "What feels right?"
Rayla blinks back a fresh wave of tears. "Saving him," she says, "of course, but—"
"Then Ethari and myself will stand by you," he says, "as you do just that."
Her chair scrapes against the floor as she rises, throwing her arms around her father; Runaan hugs her back tightly. "Thank you," she mumbles into his chest, her heart feeling lighter than it had in years.
He takes her by the shoulders when they pull away, a small smile playing over his lips. "Now, what do you say we join the crownguard and the young king, and decide on what to do next to save your mage, hm?"

Piggybacking off of my post from yesterday, let's show some appreciation to all 6 current seasons of The Dragon Prince by saying our favourite scene(s) from each season!
I'll start:
Season 1 - To be honest, I just liked the whole sequence of the Monnshadow elves infiltrating Katolis castle. The whole sequence was fun and intense and it gets a huge thumbs up from me.
Season 2 - A short but sweet scene, gotta love the moment where Viren and Aarvados 2 v 10 boss fight tagged teamed a ton of guards and yeeting them all into oblivion before Opeli finally decides to show herself and block Viren on all her socials. o7's for the guards though. A for effort. You guys stood no chance.
Season 3 - Can season 3 be my favourite scene in season 3? Because season 3.
Season 4 - The scene where Ezran is making is speech while Claudia and Ibis are fighting each other. The scene is really well done and is accompanied by an amazing ost.
But also the scene where Aaravos just roasts the main cast before he dips. King behavior.
Season 5 - "Don't you see the resemblance? He has my lovely eyes! I'm afraid he gets his voice from your side of the family."
But also the scene where Amaya sacrifices herself to the corrupted Banthers so the others could leave with their lives. When she says "Go!" Legit chills every time. Amaya is the goat. Now she didn't die in the end of course but still.
Season 6 - Well this one is obvious for me on a personal level. It's the Aaravos and Leola backstory with no contest. I will say this, nothing in any media has impacted me like this did. I couldn't sleep for like 3 days because I was thinking about how much the scene impacted me and it still does. I have been a fan of the show for many years but this is what finally got me into the fandom. I will protect Aaravos and Leola with my life. I also think not only is Leola's Autism representation amazing, but having Aaravos as an amazing accepting dad to her is important representation as well. I love them. Let them be happy.
How about you guys? What are your favourite scenes? :D

in stories whenever a group splits up it usually skips to post travel, or only one half of the group gets their travel adventure explored
which tends to leave one of my favorite adhd movie questions- what happened to the other group?
example, currently binge rewatching the dragon prince since season 6 just came out
when ezran splits off from the group at the end of season 2, he travels with corvus. we basically skip their entire journey because its not really important, but remember by this point they have already traveled quite far, even if ezran and corvus took all of the direct routes as quickly as possible, that is still a several day journey, possibly even a week or more
meaning there is a decent chunk of time with just pure ezran being his glorious self and corvus experiencing all that is ez for the first time
like that poor man dude absolutely lost 20 years off his life from that trip alone, ez may be wise and responsible beyond his years but hes also a 10 year old who can talk to animals and has a heart that bleeds enough to fill a lake
and hes corvus' king
that poor man no wonder hes on the counsel later he didnt have a choice. dude spent half the trip wanting to rip his hair out because ezran saw a cute murder creature and wanted to say hi, and the other half in awe at how good and pure ezran is to his core

im soooo normal about ezran callum sibling relationship
the little kid who had to grow up too fast, leaving stolen jelly tarts behind for clean hands on the throne and the big kid who never got a chance to play house with his younger brother before worries took the place of imagination. the kid king who seems to be handling things well, but no longer laughs at jokes with his kind of humor, and would rather get to the point than have a bit of fun with finding out the answer.
ezran luckily has a strong support system and a brother that will be there for him no matter what, putting himself in danger just to ensure ezran's safety. he's bonded with zym on a psychic and emotional level, and can talk to animals with relative ease. making the burden of the crown just a bit lighter. he knows he has people he can reach out to and lean on, and takes advantage of that when the offer is handed to him. growing up hurts, but with loved ones surrounding him, it was okay. as okay as it could be.
callum is his own support system. soren's called him step-prince for as long as he could remember, and though it was never explicitly shown, it's not hard to infer the amount of damage that can inflict on someone's mind. he already was second in line to the throne despite being the older sibling, and to just have it drilled in your head again and again that someone doesn't want you there just hurts. and it forms an unhealthy mindset that sticks with him for a while.
soren's insisted that it was a joke, but it's not wrong for callum to take it personally. especially with how many times soren's repeated it. claudia lost his respect a long time ago. callum isn't really shown to have the same amount of familiarity with the royal court as ezran does, and his office is a bit isolated from the rest of the castle. it isn't where he sleeps (though sometimes falls asleep in), but even in his own quarters he's separated from ezran. that bed's either filled by rayla or just empty moonlight at this point.
callum's always taken his own path whereas ezran followed in his father's footsteps.
that's naturally led to callum exploring a new future alone (or at least, with minimal support) vs ezran having the entire castle staff to rely upon with centuries' worth of experience in handling the rule of a king.
and proven in the series, it's caused ezran to detach from callum a bit himself. how he thought callum's upset post-possession was about rayla and not the literal puppeting that had been going on. he was never able to see through his brother the way callum could see through ezran and that's likely intentional.
bait and zym are also like parallels to their relationship in a sense; ezran had accidentally batted bait away in his sleep and bait left, upset and a little angry -- until callum saw him and invited him to hang out with him. they don't have a connection like ezran and zym have (unless you wanna get super meta, since bait's sounds are made by jack desena), but they understand each other just as much as the king and dragon prince do. before that happened, however, bait was very clingy with ezran. see the connection?
they haven't abandoned each other, far from it. they've gotten more aggressive in their love, especially with the stakes raising and callum extremely prone to becoming a weapon. ezran would prefer to talk things out, though something tells me aaravos would rather have fun with his toys instead of discussing things. maybe the way they show brotherly love is different now, but callum knows what sacrifice he would have to make to protect his family, his brother. ezran doesn't want to lose callum, and is determined to find a solution that doesn't involve the loss of his brother. his only brother.
thank you for coming to my ted talk this was a massive brain dump that i just needed to get out haha! i'm a sucker for sibling relationships and theirs draws me in like no other.
#limited rayla mentions because this is a focus on brotherly bonds and love#and not romance#i don't think it's really talked about enough about how much they've separated going down their own paths#even though they're almost always at each other's side#callum's doing something no human has ever really done before#and ezran is repeating the cycle of taking the throne and becoming king#might braindump like this more i find it really relaxing#ceo of sibling relationships that's me#tdp#the dragon prince#tdp rambles#the dragon prince rambles#callum and ezran#callum tdp#ezran tdp#bobarambles#bobasalt
