one thing about jake is that although hes a flirtatious little bitch who thrives off of being given attention, all that stuff is really just fluff. its not substantial, its not actually anything, its just there to make him feel good. he loves feeling as tho everyone around him (especially girls, since hes a teenage boy and thats just how teenage boys function) also loves him and finds him hot or whatever. but when it comes to like, actual relationship stuff? hes scared. hes so fucking scared. he hides it well, but altho he puts up this image of himself, thats not what he really wants, is it? yes, he has a crush on daisy, but its brought up numerous times that hes liked her for ages and has yet to make a move. although hes a cocky bitch when it comes to himself as a person, hes scared to progress to anymore with friendship with someone. he doesnt want that illusion of himself to be shattered in front of his face, so he doesnt pursue anything with her, just living in this limbo of never knowing if she would or could like him romantically. he doesnt wanna face the possibility that he might. its the same with lia - isnt it odd how someone has genuinely shown romantic interest in jake multiple times, and he doesnt try to play into that at all? the playboy that he is? its odd, since this guy flirts with any girl who so much as breathes near him. except, theres another point to make here - the playboy flirty side of jake is only ever shown when hes around crowds - never around individuals. except one - hailey, but thats mostly because hes written her off in his head as not being an option (due to her tsundere characteristics never presenting any show of her own affection, plus jake is a little bitch who likes to get on her nerves and he takes that as annoyance), so thats safe. lia, however - he doesnt want to tread that path, because that’s someone with genuine interest. its the same as daisy - if he acts on his feelings, or acts on her feelings, he could be proven wrong - and his fuckboy facade will fade in front of him. so he doesnt. he doesnt actually do anything. he is so scared.
